Tauck River Cruise Update for 2025. What’s New?

During 2025, Tauck will introduce a new 14-night “ Romantic Capitals: Prague to Paris ” river cruise itinerary. If you’re interested in an enticing new Tauck river cruise, this is a great one to consider.

Here’s how the journey will flow. Guests will start in Prague, the Czech Republic , with two nights at the Fairmont Golden Prague Hotel . Next up is a nine-day, luxurious, pampering river cruise.

Boarding either the 130-passenger Savor or sister vessel Joy,  Tauck’s guests will sail from Regensburg, Germany, to Trier, Germany. This itinerary will travel the Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers as well as the Rhine-Main Canal.

Guests will then disembark and travel overland to Luxembourg. There, they’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of Luxembourg City.

Then they’ll board a train to Paris . The trip concludes in “The City of Light” with a two-night stay at the L’Hotel du Collectionneur, considered an Art Deco masterpiece.

During this vacation, travelers will sail on a vessel accommodating just 130 guests, compared to the 150 or up to 190 passengers carried by other European river vessels of a similar size.

In addition, Tauck’s guests will enjoy enriching activities and experiences. For instance, here are a few:

• Private evening ashore in Germany with a reception and dinner at Schlosshotel Kronberg.
• Visit to t he legendary Nurburgring motorsports complex in Germany.
• Scenic, private boating excursion on the Seine River.

Fortunately, travelers will have great flexibility in picking a departure date. Tauck will offer 10 departures of this new “ Romantic Capitals: Prague to Paris ” river cruise itinerary from April through October of next year.

So, what else is new for Tauck on European rivers? In addition to the new itinerary outlined above, Tauck also said this week that it will redeploy its intimate, 98-passenger Esprit riverboat to France’s River Seine.

This year, that vessel is operating on the Rhine and Danube rivers. “But Tauck believes that the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris will generate greater demand for vacations in France next year,” says Shelby Steudle , president, Pavlus Travel .

“So, the line will smartly double its capacity there,” she emphasizes. “We believe that’s a great move to help assure that loyal Tauck travelers as well as first-time Tauck guests will have more Seine River opportunities.”

When it comes to traveling with Tauck, there are no hidden expenses.

Tauck prides itself for being an all-inclusive river cruise company; all onshore excursions and onboard beverages are already included in the upfront price of the cruise.

As a Tauck guest, you’ll receive unlimited complimentary beverages, including wine, beer, premium spirits, specialty coffee, water, and a number of soft drink choices.

Stateroom Amenities

Each Tauck stateroom provides all the comforts of home, and then some. You’ll feel pampered with the 400-thread-count satin bed linens, puffy white duvets and 100% cotton blankets.

For added comfort, each bed will also be topped with pillows made from fine mako cotton with a hypoallergenic 90% down filling.

The thick, pillow-top mattresses make each night’s sleep more comfortable than the last.

Exclusive to Tauck, you’ll also enjoy the Essentials Line of Molton Brown bath products.

Complimentary absorbent terry cloth robes and fluffy towels are available for onboard use.

Each stateroom also comes equipped with a hair dryer, ensuing you never have to leave your room with damp hair.

Most Cabin showers will feature a modern, rainfall shower head.

All Tauck staterooms will also include 110-volt and 220-volt outlets, accommodating all your small electronics.

Cabins also come with a 32” LED TV for in-room movie entertainment.

Each stateroom comes equipped with a fully-stocked minibar; the complimentary water and soft drinks will be replenished daily.

Suite Exclusive Amenities

Tauck prides itself on being an all-inclusive river cruise line; therefore almost all amenities are available for every passenger, regardless of cabin category.

In addition to the extra space, Tauck’s suite guests will receive a few additional amenities and benefits.

Each Category 7 suite offers daily American breakfast room service, allowing you to enjoy traditional Tauck breakfast in the comfort of your own suite.

Category 7 Suites are also the only onboard Cabins that come equipped with an iron and an ironing board for in-suite outfit perfection.

Tauck provides each guest with personalized and thoughtful service. Aboard a Tauck cruise ship, you’ll experience the highest tour director-to-guest ratio in the entire industry.

The smaller number of passengers allows Tauck staff to attend to all guests’ individual needs, allowing you and the other passengers to focus only on enjoying your cruising experience.

All Tauck staff promise to go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and well-cared-for during your voyage.

If informed in advance, even the kitchen staff will be glad to find a way to accommodate any dietary issues you may have.

Due to Tauck’s high standards for customer service, there is often a learning curve for new employees, so some cruises might be in the process of training new employees – if you’ll allow them a little patience, they will soon join the expert service you expect from a Tauck cruise.

If there are any complaints about your suite at any point during your cruise, try talking with the tour director – if it is possible he/she will be more than happy to relocate you so you can enjoy all the benefits available aboard the ship.

Themed Departures

Tauck offers a few different themed river cruises throughout the year. For the holiday season, you can explore the Christmas Markets along the Rhine River.

With well-paced activities, this week-long (on average) celebration will leave you with plenty of Christmas memories.

Tauck also offers another Christmas themed cruise, where you can visit the Christmas Markets along the Danube River.

With similar activities, either Christmas cruise will make your holiday season feel extra special.

For some non-holiday themed cruises, you might want to check out Tauck’s Musical Magic. Travel along the Blue Danube River with musical experts as you trace the footsteps of Mozart, Beethoven, Bartok, Liszt, and more. You’ll love the experience of Tauck’s A Taste of France cruise. There’ll be plenty to do with gourmet dinners, pastry and cooking class, a Lyon tasting tour, and other moderately paced activities.

Bringing families together, Tauck also offers family river cruises. These unique Tauck Bridges are a perfect way to reconnect with loved ones as you explore a number of beautiful locations.

One themed family cruise that you’re sure to love is the Castles on the Rhine; this family riverboat adventure includes moderately paced activities in unforgettable sites along the Rhine River.

Another fun-filled family riverboat adventure explores the Blue Danube River.

This 7 night cruise offers moderately paced activities designed to bring the whole family closer together.

Tauck also offers the Bon Voyage! France Family River Cruise, which keeps passengers entertained with moderately paced activities along the Rhone River.

Staterooms and Suites

Maximizing comfort for all guests, Tauck offers multiple cabin choices. Each ship offers 6 different cabin categories and a 7 th suite category; the main difference between cabin categories is deck location.

The locations/decks for each Cabin category change for each ship.

Cabin layouts may also vary by ship, though the amenities and size will remain relatively the same.

Some cabins may feature a semi-level loft layout, featuring a slightly raised seating area on select ships.

Though listed as a queen-size bed, the beds in any room category may be made into an optional twin-bed configuration if desired.

Category 1 and Category 2 Cabins

The Category 1 and Category 2 Cabins are designed to accommodate up to 2 guests each.

These elegantly designed cabins feature a queen-size bed measuring 62 inches by 77 inches.

Each cabin has only 1 bathroom that comes equipped with a bathtub, separate shower, and Molton Brown toiletries.

Note that bathroom configurations may change per ship, therefore not all Cabins will have a bathtub in the bathroom.

There is a small sitting area for these cabins. Guests will also have access to a telephone, an in-room safe, and individual climate control.

These cabins will also include a refrigerator stocked with complimentary water and soft drinks (replenished daily).

Guests staying in this cabin will enjoy the two 2’x3’ windows that bring in a little extra light. The size of a category 2 cabin is slightly larger than the category 1 cabin.

Category 3, Category 4, Category 5, and Category 6 Cabins

The Category 3 through Category 6 Cabins are designed to accommodate only 2 guests each.

These cabins come equipped with a queen-size bed measuring 62 inches by 77 inches.

Each cabin has only 1 bathroom that comes equipped with a shower and a bathtub. Note that ship differences may result in some bathrooms coming equipped with a bathtub while others only include a large shower.

These cabins have a small sitting area, but no sofa. Guests staying in theses cabins have access to a telephone, an in-room safe to store small valuables, and individual climate control.

Each cabin includes a refrigerator that is stocked with complimentary water and soft drinks (replenished daily).

Guests staying in these cabins will enjoy the views from the floor-to-ceiling French Balcony (98 inches by 75 inches) with a single sliding glass door.

Category 3 and category 4 cabins are the same size (also the same size as category 1 cabins); category 5 and category 6 cabins are the same size as category 2 cabins.

Category 7 Suite

The Category 7 Suite is designed to accommodate up to 4 guests. This suite features a bed measuring 62 inches by 77 inches (queen-size).

The suite’s large bathroom comes equipped with a separate shower and bathtub.

Note that some Category 7 Suites on particular ships may not include a bathtub.

The suite also includes a coffee maker and a minibar stocked with complimentary water and soft drinks (replenished daily).

There is a living area in this suite, which comes equipped with a pull-out sofa for additional sleeping space for children.

Guests staying in this suite will also have access to an iron and ironing board, a telephone, an in-room safe, and individual climate control.

There is plenty of storage space in this suite, including under-bed luggage storage, a walk-in closet, and a dresser.

Guests staying in this suite will enjoy access to 2 French Balconies (98 inches by 75 inches) each with a single sliding glass door.

Suite guests will also receive breakfast room service (upon request).

Onboard Activities and Entertainment

Tauck Cruises wants to help make every one of their cruises your ideal vacation.

Each Tauck ship is equipped with plenty of activities to keep passengers entertained.

Onboard entertainment will include a number of enrichment lectures from special guests.

You’ll love relaxing each night with soothing piano music.

If you feel like staying in for the night, you’ll be able to kick back and relax with a multitude of in-room movie options.

With onboard culinary demos, you’ll be able to celebrate the chef inside you and learn some new tricks to take back home with you.

Restaurants

With multiple dining options aboard a Tauck ship, there’s something everyone will love.

Vegetarian meals are always available, helping accommodate every passenger without compromising on taste.

All Tauck ships feature open seating in the dining room and flexible dining times, allowing you to choose the best spot, and the best time, for you.

Weather permitting, you’ll be able to enjoy al fresco dining on the ship’s Sun Deck.

Tauck also offers alternative dining venues for some classic favorites for both lunch and dinner.

These alternative dining options also serve lighter breakfasts each morning.

Tauck has released details of its 2025 plans for its river cruising and small ship ocean cruising portfolios, promising a busy year ahead with the introduction of new itineraries and a boost to the company’s capacity on the River Seine.

In small ship ocean cruising, Tauck will be introducing two new itineraries, “Aegean Voyage: Istanbul to Athens” and “Rome, the Amalfi Coast & Sicily.”

The 14-day Aegean Voyage: Istanbul to Athens itinerary (priced from AU$18,170* per person, based on double occupancy, plus airfare) begins with an included three-night stay at the InterContinental Hotel Istanbul and an in-depth exploration of the timeless city. After embarking on Windstar Cruises’ 312-passenger Star Legend , guests will enjoy an eight-day cruise with ports of call in Lemnos, Mykonos, Kusadasi, Bodrum, Santorini and Itea before disembarking in Piraeus. The itinerary ends with an included two-night stay in Athens at the Grande Bretagne Hotel along with guided Tauck sightseeing in the city.

Highlights of the two-week journey include a Tauck-exclusive dinner with live music under the stars in ancient Ephesus, guided sightseeing in Athens including the Acropolis and the National Archaeological Museum, a guided visit to the archaeological site of Delphi (a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating to the 8th century BC), a cruise along the Bosphorus in Istanbul, and a choice of excursions in Lemnos, a hidden gem of the Aegean. Tauck will operate six departures of the new itinerary in 2025, in April, September and October.

The new 12-day Rome, the Amalfi Coast & Sicily trip (priced from AU$18,170* per person, based on double occupancy, plus airfare) begins in Rome with an included two-night hotel stay highlighted by Tauck-guided sightseeing. A seven-day cruise aboard an elegant Ponant Explorer class ship (either Le Dumont d’Urville or Le Bougainville ) follows, with shore excursions at Amalfi, Trapani, Palermo, Taormina, Siracusa and Gozo. After disembarking in Valletta, Malta, guests will enjoy an included two-night hotel stay in the city complete with Tauck sightseeing.

Insider experiences along the way include a choice of visits to privately owned palaces in Palermo and a tour of the Ggantija Temples. Located on the island of Gozo, the temples are a UNESCO World Heritage Site pre-dating the Egyptian pyramids. Other highlights include an optional visit to Schiavi Castle (a private villa featured prominently in The Godfather ), and an exclusive farewell dinner in Valletta at the historic La Sacra Infermeria, once the hospital of the Order of the Knight’s of St. John. Tauck will operate six departures of “Rome, the Amalfi Coast & Sicily” in May, June, September and October 2025.

Included in the price of both new cruises are all shore excursions, gratuities to Tauck Directors, ship staff and local guides, onboard alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (including house wines and spirits), airport transfers, luggage handling and more.

Tauck will operate 20 small ship ocean cruise itineraries next year aboard 18 vessels in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Antarctica.

New river itinerary and more Seine capacity

On the rivers of Europe, Tauck will be introducing a new-for-2025 itinerary Romantic Capitals: Paris to Prague (priced from AU$14,840* per person, plus airfare). The 14-day journey begins in Prague with two nights at the Fairmont Golden Prague Hotel, followed by a nine-day river cruise from Regensburg to Trier along the upper Danube, Main-Danube Canal, Main, Rhine and Moselle. Guests then travel overland to Luxembourg for a walking tour of its capital city before boarding a train to Paris, where their journey concludes with a two-night stay at the L’Hotel du Collectionneur.

Itinerary highlights include a private evening with a reception and dinner at Schlosshotel Kronberg, a visit to the legendary Nürburgring racetrack, a private boating excursion on the Seine, and an underground walking tour of Prague. Tauck will offer 10 departures of the Romantic Capitals: Paris to Prague itinerary from April to October 2025 with sailings aboard its ms Savor and ms Joy riverboats.

Next year will also see the redeployment of Tauck’s 110-metre ms Esprit riverboat to the River Seine, following its 2024 operating season along the Rhine and Danube rivers. The move will double Tauck’s capacity on the Seine, and it comes ahead of an anticipated increase in bookings to France following the Summer Olympic Games in Paris later this year.

Tauck Unveils Plans for 2025

T auck will have a busy year in 2025, with several new itineraries set to make their debut. The line is also boosting its capacity on the Seine River and unveiling the new Tauck River Academy for travel advisors.

Next year, Tauck will offer 20 small-ship ocean cruises aboard 18 vessels in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Antarctica. The company will offer two new ocean itineraries in 2025. "Aegean Voyage: Istanbul to Athens" will be a 14-day trip aboard Windstar Cruises’ Star Legend, while "Rome, the Amalfi Coast & Sicily" will be a 12-day journey aboard a Ponant Explorer class ship. 

Tauck is also unveiling a new river itinerary called "Romantic Capitals: Paris to Prague." The 14-day journey will travel along the upper Danube, Main-Danube Canal, Main, Rhine and Moselle rivers.

The company also plans to redeploy its river ship MS Esprit on the Seine in 2025. This will double Tauck’s capacity on the Seine, in anticipation of an increase in bookings in France after the Summer Olympics.

Tauck will offer its first Tauck River Academy training event for travel advisors during the October 6, 2025, sailing of its 10-day "Three Rivers: Danube, Main & Rhine" itinerary aboard the MS Joy. Though the company has offered training events in the past, this will be its first dedicated to river cruising. Tauck plans to launch additional river academies for the future.

Ponant's explorer series ships, introducing ponant's exciting new explorer series ships.

Sophisticated styling, innovative "green" technology, and attentive service are all hallmarks of Ponant's new Explorer Series yachts (boasting 92 staterooms and suites) – including Le Lapérouse, Le Champlain, Le Dumont d'Urville, Le Bellot & Le Jacques Cartier. Each of these luxe mega-yachts features six passenger decks, a choice of dining venues and all-included bar and restaurant beverages throughout the day aboard ship, including house wines and spirits. Environmentally friendly equipment, elegantly designed staterooms, and outside-opening lounge areas offer the perfect atmosphere for a truly unique cruising experience.

Silver Origin

Silver Origin is a destination-specific ship exclusively cruising to the Galápagos Islands. Featuring six passenger decks, two dining venues, spacious suites with private balconies, floor-to-ceiling windows in the lounges for unobstructed views of the ocean, and an innovative learning center named Basecamp, Silver Origin offers an unrivaled experience in the Galápagos Archipelago.

We believe that dining aboard ship should always be special and memorable. All of Tauck's handpicked small ships offer fine onboard water-view dining, usually with indoor and outdoor open seating, and freshly prepared meals featuring the finest ingredients. Although exact arrangements vary by ship and cruising partner, most of our ships feature a panoramic main dining room serving international cuisine and regional specialties, with a more casual second venue offering grilled and lighter fare. Regional specialties may vary by the destination or by the ship's origin (for example, French specialties on Ponant ships, Ecuadorian specialties on Isabela II and Santa Cruz II, etc.).
