THE LAKE  STRECHES BETWEEN INDIAN & CHINESE BORDERS. APPROXIMATELY 60% OF THE LENGTH OF THE LAKE LIES IN CHINA . DURING WINTER THE LAKE FREEZES COMPLETELY. THE LAKE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING IDENTIFIED UNDER THE  RAMSAR CONVENTION  AS A  WETLAND  OF INTERNATIONAL IMPORTANCE. Day One : Arrival to Leh – Ladakh.

Arrive in Leh , Bakula Airport, which is at an altitude of 11,700 ft. Upon arrival, our tour representative will welcome you and take you to the hotel. After completing the check-in, take rest for the remainder of the day to acclimatize to the high altitudes of Ladakh, a necessary thing to do. In the evening, at around 04:30 PM, leave your hotel rooms for visiting the very popular Shanti Stupa - erected on a hilltop in Chanspa in 1991. It is a white dome-shaped Buddhist stupa. Next, you visit the Chowkhang monastery - this serene monastery is marked by fluttering prayer flags. Later on, indulge yourselves in at the local market of Leh. Some of the best buys include Buddhist masks, prayer wheels, thangka paintings and woolen items like Pashmina shawls, gloves, sweaters and more. Stay overnight in leh.

Day Two : Leh local sightseeing.

After breakfast leave for Leh Sightseeing, First Visit to Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Shahib, Magnetic Hill, after drive to Sangam Area (Confluence of the Indus River and Zanskar River), After Sightseeing Back to Leh Market, and visit to Shanti Stupa & Leh Market, after sightseeing drop to the Hotel. . Day Three : Khardungla Pass.

Morning of the fourth day begins with a visit to the Khardung La Pass at 18,360 ft which, not surprisingly, is the world's highest motorable pass. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.

Day Four : Pangong Lake.

A full day excursion to Pangong Tso Lake, which is a 135 km drive from Leh. The Pangong Tso Lake is nearly 140 km long and 3-5 km wide. More than half of the lake lies in the Tibetan territory. Since you?ll return to Leh by the evening, you can roam about Leh's local markets looking for a deal or two. Overnight stay is at a hotel in Leh.

Day Five : Departure Leh Airport.

In the morning, get an assisted transfer to the Leh airport to board your flight .

After Khardungla lunch on the way, after drive to Diskit Monastery, This is oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in Diskit and Lord Buddha Statue Called Maitreya Buddha Statue after diskit driver will drive to Hunder Village - you can also enjoy a ride on double humped camel on the Sand Dunes. After Camel Ride visit to Hunder Village, Check in Hotel / Camps Overnight stay.

Day 04 : Hunder - Pangong Lake via Shayok River Crose (Approx 5 hrs one way )

After breakfast Check out Hotel / Camp and drive to pangong lake via Crosse the Shyok River one the way Tangse Villige Enjoy and photo shoot near Pangong Lake , Pangong Lake is highest salt water Lake in the World, shared by two countries India & China. Full Day Enjoy Overnight stay in Camp / Cottages.

Day 05 : Pangong Lake - Leh Back via Changla Pass (Approx 6 hrs)

After Breakfast check out Camp and drive back to Leh via Chang-la Pass, third highest motor able road in the world. On the way Visit Thiksay Monastery, Shey Monastery, 3 Idito School, after visit to Sindhu Darshan, After Sightseeing driver will drop to the Leh Main Market or Hotel. Overnight stay in Hotel.

THE VAISHNO MATA SHRINE IS IN THE TRIKUTA MOUNTAINS IS BELIEVED TO BE THE ABODE OF 33 KOTI (TYPE) DEITIES.  FROM THE TOWN OF KATRA ONE HAS TO TREK 13 KMS TO REACH THE HOLY CAVE. THERE ARE THREE HEADS IN A NATURAL ROCK FORM ARE KNOWN AS THE HOLY PINDIES, ON THE RIGHT THE HOLY PINDI OF MATA MAHA KALI.  IN THE CENTRE THE HOLY PINDI OF MATA MAHA LAXSHMI. ON THE LEFT THE HOLY PINDI OF MATA MAHA SARASWATI. HINDUS BELIEVE THAT ONE CANNOT POSSIBLY HAVE DARSHAN OF MATA, UNLESS SHE HERSELF CALLS THE DEVOTEES.    OVERNIGHT STAY AT HOTEL IN KATRA.

DAY THREE : KATRA TO JAMMU RLY STN DROP

Day One : Jammu - Katra.

Pick up from Jammu Airport/Railway Station and transfer to Katra (50 Kms/1.5 Hours). Spend rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Katra.

Day Two : Vaishnodevi Darshan.

Early morning, proceed for Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan- one of the most popular pilgrimages of India situated in the lap of Trikuta mountains across Katra town at an altitude of around 5200 feet. Yatra upto Bhawan involves a trek of nearly 12 Kms from Katra base camp known as Ban Ganga & 2.5 Kms from Sanji Chhat which is dropping point for pilgrims boarding through Helicopter. You have to hire a local auto rikshaw for reaching Ban Ganga or Helipad available round the clock at very nominal charges. Battery cars, Cable cars, Ponies, Palkis, Pithoos, Porters etc. are other means of transport during yatra for assisting senior citizens, children and physically challenged persons. After performing darshans, if time permits, visit Bhairo Temple & return back to Katra in the evening. Overnight stay at Katra.

Day Three :  Katra - Shiv Khori - Katra.

Early morning after breakfast, proceed for Shiv Khori – the Holy Cave abode of Lord Shiva situated at a distance of 70 Kms from Katra. The cave is a real wonder to be seen and measures nearly half a kilometer in length with a 4 feet high naturally formed Shiv-lingam at the heart of the Sanctum Sanctorum. Have darshans of Lord Shiva and back to Katra in the evening. If time permits, en route, visit Siar Baba waterfalls, Baba Dhansal & Nau Devis. Overnight stay at Katra.

Day Four ; Katra to Jammu.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel & proceed for Jammu to drop at Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey with sweet memories of the tour.

Morning board the helicopter for Baltal. De-board the helicopter & transfer to Srinagar by road. On arrival, check-in at the hotel & day free for local Sightseeing of Srinagar. Visit Mughal garden. At evening, enjoy Shikara ride in world famous Dal Lake. Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel or House boat.

Day Four ; SRINAGAR – KATRA.

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel & proceed for Katra by road (270 Kms/8 Hrs drive). On arrival at Katra, check-in at the hotel in Katra for dinner & overnight stay.

Day Five ; MATA VAISNO DEVI DARSHAN.

Early morning, get dropped at Banganga to start the holy journey to Mata Vaishno Devi Darshan. From here start the trek of 13kms (one way) to reach the shrine of Mata Devi. En route darshan of Ardhkuwari. By reaching the temple perform Pooja, aarti, darshan and seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi. Spend some time in the shrine of Mata Devi. Later start the trek back to Katra. If needed one can opt the helicopter service/Pony/Palki to reach the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi from Katra (at own cost). Same day return back to Katra for overnight stay.

Day Six ; DROP AT KATRA/JAMMU RAILWAY STN OR AIRPORT.

Kashmir has four distinct seasons, each with its own peculiar character and distinctive charm. These are spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Spring, which extends roughly from March to early May, is when a million tulip blosssoms carpet the Srinagar Tulip Garden . The weather during this time can be gloriously pleasant at 23 degree Centigrade or chilly and windy at 6 degree Centigrade. This is the season when Srinagar experiences rains, but the showers are brief.

Summer extends from May until the end of August. Light woolens may be required to wear out of Srinagar. In higher altitudes night temperatures drop slightly. Srinagar at this time experiences day temperatures of between 25oC and 35oC. At this time, the whole valley is a mosaic of varying shades of green – rice fields, meadows, trees, etc. and Srinagar with its lakes and waterways is a heaven after the scorching heat of the Indian plains.

Srinagar Tourism: The capital city

Srinagar is located in the heart of the Kashmir valley at an altitude of 1,730 m above sea level, spread on both sides of the river Jehlum. The Dal and Nagin lakes enhance its picturesque setting, while the changing play of the seasons and the salubrious climate ensures that the city is equally attractive to visitors around the year. Kalhana, the author of ‘Rajtarangini’, states that Srinagar was founded by Emperor Ashoka (3rd Century BC).

The present city of Srinagar was founded by Pravarasena-II, and Hiuen Tsang, who visited Kashmir in 631 AD, found it at the same site as it is today. Laltaditya Muktapida was the most illustrious ruler of Kashmir in the Hindu period, which ended in 1339 AD. King Zain-ul-Abidin (1420-70 AD), popularly known as ‘ Budshah ’, was a great patron of Sanskrit.

Akbar captured Kashmir valley for the Mughals, who endowed Srinagar with beautiful mosques and gardens. The Sikhs overthrew the last Muslim ruler in the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1819. In 1846 the Dogras secured the sovereignty of Kashmir from the British under the Treaty of Amritsar, and in 1947 the state of Jammu and Kashmir with Srinagar as its capital, became part of the Indian Union.

Today Srinagar is a resort for the tourist who can experience, at first hand, the peculiar beauty of the valley that has attracted the Chinese, the Mughals and the British to it. How to reach Srinagar Kashmir?

Travelers who wish to travel by train can book their tickets till Jammu Tawi railway station which is the nearest rail head. By air: To fly into Kashmir, take the Srinagar Airport (15 km away), which is well connected to prime Indian cities. Air India, GoAir, IndiGo and Jet Airways operate regular flights for Delhi, Goa, Jammu, Leh Mumbai and Bangalore. After reaching the airport, visitors can hire taxis to reach various cities and towns of Kashmir. By road: The state of Kashmir is well connected by a network of state and private buses with several nearby cities and towns. National Highway 1-A connects Srinagar with Jammu. Also, the popular Jawahar Tunnel connecting Jammu with the valley of Kashmir also falls on the way. A number of J&K State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC), luxury and private deluxe buses ply frequently to and from state. These buses are extremely comfy and cost-effective. By train: The rail link between Srinagar and Jammu is under construction however one can reach up to Udhampur by train from there onward one can travel by road up-to Banihal from there one can board train for Srinagar, Srinagar railway station is located at Nowgam Baypass .

Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (J&KSRTC) operates special coach services between the airport and the city.

Super deluxe, A-class, B-class buses are operated by J&K SRTC as well as other transport agencies. These take approx. 11 hours to cover the journey and the cost per seat in J&K SRTC bus is From Rs 200/- to Rs. 450/ From Jammu to Srinagar. From Delhi an express coach service is available, which takes 26 hours to reach Srinagar at the cost per seat of Rs.1400/-. For booking contact J&K SRTC Office, Kanishka Shopping Plaza, Ashok Road, New Delhi.

It is also possible to travel by taxi from Jammu to Srinagar in about 8 hours. The cost varies depending on the flow of tourists and travelers between Jammu and Srinagar and is between Rs.700/ to Rs. 1400/ per seat.

For those wishing to travel to Srinagar by a private car from Jammu, there are several places en route which have been developed for the convenience of the motorist. Among them Jajjar Kotli, Kud, Pantnitop, Batote, Ramban, Banihal and Qazi Gund, all having tourist bungalows and provisions for meals, snacks, petrol pumps and repairs. Local Transport Coaches:

The visits in Leh and to Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake were fantastic. The guide and driver were professional and the guide had good knowledge. I was very disappointed in two things, one the Ladakh Imperial hotel, rooms were good but the service was poor. The second thing was having to cross Changla Pass twice, the road is very very poor and it would have been possible to travel to Pandong from the Nubra valley on good roads, crossing the Changla pass only once.
