Canadian Rockies Overview
Canadian Rocky Mountains Tours – The Ultimate Guide
The Rocky Mountains (or Rockies) in Western North America have been around for more than 55 million years. This majestic and imposing 3000-mile range extends from British Columbia in Canada to New Mexico in the United States. Formed by movements of the earth and sculpted by the action of glaciers, the Rockies stand today as a testament to the passage of time and the immense power of nature.
Humans have lived among the Rockies since the Ice Age. Today, this is one of the most visited destinations in the world. When you read reviews online, the Rockies regularly feature on peoples’ bucket lists. Tourists and locals alike are in awe of the unspoiled beauty of the majestic snow-capped peaks. Whether they’re visiting for one day or 20 days, the abundance of flora and fauna in the region and spectacular scenery never fail to mesmerize visitors.
Many people plan trips to the Rockies to revel in recreational and sporting activities such as camping, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, golfing, boating, and rafting, to name a few. Others travel to this special region simply to experience a connection with nature that only the pristine expanse of the Rockies can provide. What’s common is that everyone who comes to explore the Canadian Rockies leaves after the trip with a lifetime of unforgettable memories. Canadian Rocky Mountain tour packages cater to every reason for visiting this sublimely beautiful part of the world.
You will undoubtedly visit at least one Canadian Rocky Mountains National Park on any of the large number of guided tours that start in Vancouver and Calgary . Winter sports enthusiasts can choose an itinerary and dates that include the beautiful ski resort of Whistler. Canadian Rocky Mountain tours from Calgary and Vancouver offer great multiday summer packages that bundle travel, several nights in comfortable hotels, and meals. Often, attraction admissions are included for a hassle-free vacation at one great price. Just show up at the departure point and let the professional guides lead the way. Your only worry will be trying to capture a shooting star with your camera before it disappears into the clear night-sky!
A Canadian Rocky Mountains tour from Vancouver gives you the chance of a lifetime – to walk out over the Rockies, suspended 918 feet in the air, on the glass-bottomed Glacier Skywalk at Jasper. Nothing can quite compare to the rush of adrenaline and you’ll come away with a newfound respect for the term “bird’s eye view.” Other attractions in Jasper National Park include the Athabasca Glacier icefields, river and falls as well as the Jasper Skytram (the highest and longest of its kind in Canada).
Lake Louise and the Banff National Park are other popular stops that attract an estimated 4.5 million visitors every year. There are several castle-like resorts dotting the area along the railway line that offer unique backdrops for your photos. While in Banff, a Gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain is a must for what are arguably some of the most breathtaking views in the Rockies. The drive on the Icefields Parkway is considered not only one of Canada’s best, but one of the most beautiful in the world.
On your vacation in Canada, Rocky Mountains tour options include those geared to satisfy the intrepid adventurer and explorer in you. On these multi-day Canadian Rockies tours, you will journey to impossibly blue glacial lakes and towering pine-covered mountains. There are innumerable sightseeing opportunities and plenty of hikes through rugged landscape of unparalleled beauty.
Summer tours to the Canadian Rockies are easily available, but also hugely popular are winter tours for those who want to experience the mountains in all their snow-covered splendor. You can enjoy a romantic private horse-drawn sleigh ride along the wintry shores of Lake Louise or go on an invigorating ice-walk through the frosty Maligne Canyon. Please request a brochure, look through our menu, or call / email to find a range of experiences that can make your vacation even more memorable, at prices that are more affordable than you think.
Tours to the Rockies offer more than just spectacular views. - Sightsee62955639250 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Awesome spring break trip! My husband and I had the absolute best time while visiting some of the prettiest country in our nation. The guide, Hogan was extremely professional, knowledgeable and prompt. Hogan knows history, and was able to share so much amazing information about the area and the sites we visited. We were the only two out of group that camped in the tent and Hogan stayed with us at the camp ground, just in case we needed anything, which put a whole other twist to the care that was provided. We were able to see the stars so brightly at night and wake up to a breathtaking sunrise. I can’t express enough how amazing that experience was. Every single stop offered something unique, yet equally stunning. Antelope Canyon was my favorite and Monument Valley was my husband’s favorite. The helicopter ride was out of this world. The absolute highlight of this trip was Antelope Canyon. It was magical beyond words. Then Monument Valley, also within the Navajo (Dine) Nation was incredible. Another highlight was morning at the Watchtower at the Grand Canyon - ours were the first steps in the overnight snow dusting, and the morning was magical. Bindlestiff had set up solid accommodations, great lunches, support of local businesses, suggested good hikes, and arranged for terrific side tours. Hogan's commentary and driving were exemplary. But, the weather was just too beautiful to have snow. We saw so many things in a short amount of time, but it was enough to get a taste of the area and do some hiking and exploring in each of the places we visited. Joel did an awesome job driving us to everywhere, giving us historical information, and making sure we had what we needed to be comfortable. There were plenty of stops along the drive and plenty of good food options. Their pre-trip communication is great. I am definitely doing more tours with Bindlestiff. Read more Written March 28, 2024
- angeliquer423 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Book this trip for a phenomenal, life-changing experience! I cannot recommend this trip enough. It was the best I've ever been on! Bindlestiff took us to so many places and saw so much and yet, it didn't feel rushed at all. The magnitude of National and State parks that we covered was remarkable, and I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in each. The group was very small- only 6 people. As a solo traveler, this was perfect because it allowed us to get to know each other and the friendly vibes felt so natural (no loneliness here!) Besides the sights, the obvious best thing about this trip was our guide, Joseph. He was the perfect balance of knowledgeable and fun, always making every effort to answer our questions, provide his own anecdotes and accommodate any of our special requests or preferences. Joseph is incredible and a true professional. The accomodation throughout the trip was excellent- all my needs were met and exceeded. Most hotels provided breakfast and, in the few incidences that they didn't, readily accessible alternatives were available. At first, I was concerned that picnic lunches would reduce the amount of time that we had to explore the sights. This wasn't the case at all. Joseph ensured that all lunches were well-catered and smoothly run. Originally, I'd planned to organize and self-navigate a trip similar to this all by myself. I am extremely glad that this plan didn't work out. Bindlestiff is an amazing company. If you are on the fence about booking this trip, don't be! You, like me, won't regret it for a single second. - FionaD 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fiona, James, Trione, Vegas and surrounds 2024 Brilliant tour which gave us plenty of quality time at each of the highlight locations. Our tour guide Joel had great in depth knowledge of each site and Native American culture and the history of this area of the country which we would have totally missed on our own. Logistics, bookings with local guides, bathroom and snack stops were also perfectly timed. We were also very happy with the standard of accommodation which was spacious and very comfortable after a long day. Last but not least the scenery in this part of the country is spectacular. Canadian Trip Information:
The currency is the Canadian Dollar. Although credit cards are recommended for ease in monetary transactions, there will be places where you may convert your US currency to Canadian Dollars. The current exchange rate is $0.80 USD = $1 CAD. Gratuities should be paid in the local currency whenever possible. Like the USA, Canada uses 110 volts, 60 Hz. It is not necessary to use an adaptor or converter with appliances and devices that you use in the US. Please check with your carrier regarding cell phone service and fees.
Important Information:
Reservations will require $350 per person deposit for this tour. Some or all of your deposit may be non-refundable per our cancellation schedule noted in these Terms & Conditions below. We are happy to accept cash, check (preferred) or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) for your deposit.
Throughout 2021 we limited capacity on all our tours. This policy was so overwhelmingly popular by Sunrise travelers, we have made it permanent. In 2022 and beyond, we will limit the capacity on our motorcoaches to 80%. Most Sunrise Tours travel on 50-seat coaches with extra legroom, which means guests will enjoy extra legroom AND at least 6-8 empty seats. In the rare cases when we charter a 55-seat coach, there will be at least 10 open seats on the bus.
Our popular on-board refreshment service on travel days will feature a variety of soda, beer, wine spritzers, juices and sparkling water choices served in recyclable aluminum cans. This is a safe and eco-conscious way for us to deliver the ever-popular Sunrise Tours “happy hour” on tour. We do not typically serve bottled water and ask that while on tour you be responsible for your own hydration and consider the Sunrise Tours drink service a welcome refreshment.
Terms and Conditions:
Please refer to our policies HERE for more information on our terms and conditions.
