Genshin Impact: Explaining the Traveler's Complicated Role as the Fourth Descender

With Genshin Impact bringing up descenders, it's imperative players know that through the Traveler, they play as the fourth descender.

  • The Traveler's role as a descender is crucial in Genshin Impact, as they possess a powerful will that rivals an entire world, making their mission to reunite with their sibling significant.
  • The Traveler's composition and ability to absorb elements raise questions about their connection to the third descender and the possibility of being turned into a Gnose by Rhinedottir/Gold.
  • The Traveler's journey in Teyvat is not just about rescuing their sibling, but also understanding the truth of the world and potentially having a significant role in the fate of Teyvat, including the possibility of ascension to a position in Celestia.

In Genshin Impact 's world of Teyvat, there are outsiders who descend into the world, appropriately named "descenders" by the Fatui. There are four known ones in Teyvat, and players travel throughout Genshin Impact as the fourth descender, the Traveler. However, the Traveler's role as a descender isn't often discussed in the community. But understanding and speculating why they've come here and why they're stuck chasing after their Abyss sibling who isn't considered a descender is imperative.

With the recent lore drops coming out of 4.2, players know much more about descenders as a whole than they ever have before. While some of this information came out of the Archon Quest, some of it comes from the final Narzissenkreuz quest line . Not only are descenders those who've come from outside Teyvat, but they're individuals whose wills can rival an entire world. This new information puts the Traveler and their sibling in different lights.

Genshin Impact: Explaining the Traveler's Complicated Role as the Fourth Descender

The traveler and their sibling.

Now knowing that a descender is one who comes from beyond and possess a powerful enough will to rival an entire world, the Traveler being considered one shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. They're persistently traveling Teyvat with the goal of reuniting with their sibling and potentially confronting the god who took them away. However, their sibling belonging to Teyvat throws things off course. It would be one thing if they weren't a descender because their will wasn't enough to rival a world - still strange considering their yearning to bring back the destroyed nation of Khaenri'ah .

Players have witnessed the Traveler lose their power in the first cutscene of the game and slowly regain some of their strength over the course of the story. However, with the final Fontaine chapter revealing that the third descender's corpse was made into Gnoses, this leaves questions surrounding the Traveler's composition. Especially since they are able to absorb each element from the Statues of the Seven . This makes players curious about the Abyss sibling, though, and if they could do the same and were the third descender, turned into the Gnoses and then cloned by Rhinedottir/Gold. This would explain why the Traveler isn't of this world, but their sibling is.

Though the descenders have all come from beyond, it's unclear if the descenders all have their own missions or if fate has a grander plan for them all. After all, the Traveler wouldn't have the time to get swept into yet another subplot when all they wanted was to rescue their sibling and leave in the very beginning. But ever since their first encounter with their sibling alongside Genshin Impact 's Dainsleif , where they were told to go through Teyvat and realize the truth of the world on their own, they've been dragging their feet when it comes to asking about their sibling from the Archons. There isn't a point when they're meant to go through the motions of the world on their own for answers.

The Traveler's Endgame

But then, players are left to wonder what is the truth of the world that only a descender could realize. After all, Nicole of the Hexenzirkel says that the Traveler should trust what they see and that Teyvat's fate cannot be easily changed. Everywhere the Traveler goes, however, they become a huge part of the story and end up saving the nation or the god in one way or another. Fans have begun speculating that if all this is set in stone, as implied by the Abyss sibling, what this might mean for when players reach Snezhnaya.

After all, if Genshin Impact 's Tsaritsa has been collecting Gnoses--the corpse of the third descender-- and the Traveler likely has a similar power and capability within themselves, fans worry about what will happen once the icy land is available. Common theories include:

  • The Traveler being used as an 8th Gnosis, walking into a trap they cannot overcome.
  • The Traveler being swayed to the Tsaritsa's side as whatever she's doing is justifiable and challenging Celestia alongside her.
  • The Tsaritsa and Abyss sibling being allies in one way or another, leaving the Traveler conflicted on how to continue their journey.

The Teyvat Chapter Preview trailer also implies that the Abyss sibling will need rescuing, be it from the Traveler or from Dainsleif. Dainsleif also asks if the Traveler has understood "the meaning of [their] journey." For fans who've made it all the way to the recent region of Fontaine , surely there should be hints of what the meaning is already. However, this remains foggy and blurred, as it is hard to conclude what the reason could be behind the journey. It had originally been to reunite with their sibling, but if their sibling themselves advised that they continue throughout Teyvat, fans are left to wait and watch for the point of it all.

The in-game text for the Traveler also implies an ascension, possibly even to a seat in Genshin Impact 's Celestia . Whether this would make them a god or an Archon, or something else yet to be seen, is up in the air. However, an ascension for the Traveler would have heavy implications for what they've been through and will continue to go through. It was stated that those with visions have the chance to ascend, but the Traveler has no such thing. Moreover, they aren't eligible to receive a vision at all as a being from outside Teyvat. This leaves many pondering for what is to come in Genshin Impact 's future.

Geo Traveler Guide and Best Builds

Geo Traveler Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact

The Traveler is the character you start with, being a 5-Star Sword character with no set Element. Instead, you choose the element you want to use. While the Traveler tends to be very simple in design, Geo is a peculiar elements to use, as Geo is generally viewed as one of the weaker elements to use. But despite this, the Geo Traveler can excel pretty well as a support unit, providing good damage buffs to your team and can act as a Battery for other characters, especially other Geo Characters like Navia and Noelle .

Geo Traveler Introduction

Geo Traveler is a 5-star Geo Sword Character DPS and Support in Genshin Impact who mainly focuses on providing Geo Constructs, CRIT Rate buffs and the occasional Crystallize shield. Their Burst and Skill also have high damage multipliers, which can enable them to be a DPS. This guide will focus on Geo Traveler's best weapons, builds, artifacts, teambuilding and more!

Strengths and Weaknesses

Traveler geo support build.

The Geo Traveler's Support build focuses more around staying off-field, swapping in to cast your Elemental Skill and to keep your Elemental Burst running at all times. The walls created by your Burst last 15s and has a 15s cooldown, which means you can keep 100% uptime as long as you generate the 60 energy required to cast the Burst. Furthermore, the 6th Constellation extends the duration by another 5 seconds, making the walls last longer than the cooldown. So for this build, we are building Energy Recharge to maintain this uptime. With the addition of Navia , Geo Traveler has seen some renewed use as a Support, as Navia greatly benefits from the CRIT Rate buff on the Burst with the first Constellation, Invincible Stonewall , and the Energy that the Traveler can provide.

Traveler Geo Dps Build

As mentioned at the start, The Geo Traveler's Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst have pretty good scaling, which enables them to be a dps. The Skill has 6s CD and deals damage a second time with the 2nd Constellation Rockcore Meltdown , where the Meteorite created explodes when it is destroyed (this also happens when the timer runs out).

Between the two builds, the Traveler tends to work best in the role of a Support. This is because of the way the Traveler works when it comes to leveling talents, as every talent needs to be leveled for each of the Traveler's elements. This makes it very expensive to try and use the Traveler offensively for multiple Elements, especially because Geo is not the strongest element to deal damage with. However, when you use the Traveler to support, leveling your talents comes secondary. This means you can still use them while building your team, instead of depending on the talents to deal damage. You still want to level them as it is more damage, but less important.

You will not need to build a lot of Energy Recharge for either of the builds, although it is crucial to keep up 100% uptime for the support build. The reason you don't need to build that much is due to the 4th Constellation, Reaction Force which can return up to 25 Energy per cast. This means your Burst has an effective cost of 35 instead of 60, on top of the Skill having a short cooldown. In the DPS setup, you can afford to wait for the Travelers energy particles, however as Support you will need about 180-200% Energy Recharge to maintain uptime.

Outside this, the Support build is very flexible and can fit into most teams that have open Flex Slots, hence why it is mainly recommended to build the Geo Traveler as a Support character instead of DPS. Focus on getting your Energy Recharge into a comfortable range, and then slowly get artifacts that increase your damage while maintaining your Energy Recharge.

Combos and How to Play Geo Traveler

The Geo Traveler is very simple to play, as with most of their Elements. Your Starfell Sword Skill has 6s cooldown, so you want to cast that as much as possible. Meanwhile Wake of Earth has a 15s CD, meaning that when you play with the Geo Traveler, you end up quickswapping characters regularly. Keeping up your Burst and getting as many Meteorites out is important. As a Support, this is what makes the Geo Traveler great.

The hardest part of using the Geo Traveller correctly is placing your Skill, as it will push displacable targets away from it. This means that you generally don't want to summon it infront of your target, as it will then make it harder for yourself to hit the target. Try to aim it behind or on the side of your enemy. When holding the Skill, you get a small circular aim on the ground that you can move around before releasing. The circle motion will ripple, making it look like its formed by 3 circles. Try aim the skill so that the target is hit between the area created between the 2 outer circles. Outside of this, you can use the Skill to block missiles aswell as use it to climb with.

Geo Traveler's Best Team Comps

Geo Traveler's main team compositions will typically see them supporting another Main DPS. Outside this, you typically see the Geo Traveler together with Zhongli , as Zhongli's Dominus Lapidis Pillars resonates with the Traveler's Meteorite construct.

Navia/Geo Traveller

This team comp revolves around Navia dealing damage, with the Geo Traveler acting as a Battery for her. The Traveler can easily eliminate most of the Energy Recharge requirements for Navia. Potentially all of it depending on Navia's Constellations or choice of weapon. Other than that, it is the increased CRIT Rate from your Burst which allows the Geo Traveler to be a very good pick for this.

Geo Traveler's Mono Geo Quickswap Team

This Mono-Geo team is a very Burst heavy team comp. You want to quickswap between all characters, using their Skills and Burst off cooldown. Make sure that they all stand within the area of Wake of Earth to benefit of the 10% increased CRIT Rate when cycling through characters. With Zhongli's shield having a 100% uptime, a healer is not needed, however it does mean you may want to have food available just in case.

Noelle/Geo Traveler

Another support team, however here the last 2 slots are very flexible. The job of the Geo Traveler here is to enable Noelle to use her Burst as much as possible. Noelle used to be considered a weak character, however she can really output good numbers with the right team. Typically you want to support Noelle with Gorou and/or Yun Jin , however characters like Xingqiu , Fischl and Rosaria can also work. In the slots above, you can choose any supports within the 2 listings.

Xiao Infinite Spin Team

This team is a bit of a funny one. It utilizes the fact, that you can't stand on top of the wall created by Wake of Earth together with Xiao 's Bane of All Evil , enabling him to jump higher to trigger Plunge Attacks. You want to drag your target up against one the walls, then jump above the wall and trigger Plunge attack on Xiao. This Plunge attack won't be able to land as you are unable to stand on top of the wall. Additionally, there is no space between the target and the wall, resulting in you spinning mid air. The game tries to push you along the wall to make you land at some point though.

Geo Traveler's Ascensions, Talents and Constellations

Geo traveler's ascension passives and materials.

Geo Traveler requires a range of materials to ascend to the 6th ascension. Starting from the second ascension they gain additional ATK % as bonus stat giving a total of 24% increased ATK at the final ascension. The total cost to upgrade all ascensions is:

Geo Traveler's Talents

Listed below is each talent and a brief explanation of how they work.

Due to how the Traveler works, the cost of upgrading your talents is different from all other characters. All 3 Talent materials are in use in different amounts, as each upgrade will require a different kind. To level a single talent to 10 costs:

Geo Traveler's Constellations

Since you can get all of these Constellations by grinding, getting all 6 is preferable You gain them through out the Liyue Archon quest, one at the end of Act II and III and you buy the other 4 from Xingxi in her Souvenir Shop in Liyue.

Traveler Lore & Character Story

Character details.

The keeper is fading away; the creator has not yet come.

But the world shall burn no more, for you shall ascend.

Character Story 1

A boy and a girl stood amidst the tumult, under an unfamiliar sky. You were a pair of traveling twins, passing through countless worlds during your journey. Descending upon a continent named Teyvat, you hoped that you would be able to enjoy your time here.

But as you awoke among the falling stars, you saw the world in turmoil, a cataclysm raging across the land... You sought to leave this place and move on to the next world, but then an Unknown God stood before you, barring the way. This deity was spotless, floating over a world of chaos. Looking down on you.

The god took your only kin away, and you were sealed and cast into a deep slumber filled with nightmares... When you reawakened, the world was changed. The flames of war raged no longer, and nothing was left that looked familiar.

How long had you been asleep? You had no answers. Thus you began a lonely journey, seeking the deity that you had once laid eyes upon...

Character Story 2

After that, you met Paimon, and wandered together for some time. You learned that this world has seven gods who rule the seven nations as the Seven Archons. Your first stop was the free city of wine and song, Mondstadt, a city built by the Anemo Archon. As you stepped into Mondstadt as an outlander, it was, as the other nations were, beset on both sides by non-human and human threats.

The non-human threat was comprised of the confederacy known as the Abyss Order. The human threat, on the other hand, stemmed from the ambition of the Tsaritsa, god of Snezhnaya. The Abyss Order had corrupted an ally of the Anemo Archon, the Dragon of the East of the Four Winds of Mondstadt.

These threats from without and within caused the return of the Anemo Archon, who took on the form of a bard and joined you in your journey to save the dragon. Yet there was something then that you did not see — for as the dragon fell to the Abyss, a certain figure had been reflected in its eyes...

The one who rules the Abyss. (she/he) had once traveled with you, and you had once crossed many worlds together.

Stop hand

Aether / Lumine , also known as the Traveler and the Outlander , is the main protagonist and player character of the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact , as well as a cameo character in its accompanying webcomic series of the same name.

Both them and their sibling were traveling out of Teyvat, but they were blocked by an Unknown God and were both defeated and sealed away. They were separated from each other and had their powers sealed away. While the Traveler's sibling eventually returned to Teyvat, the Traveler was sealed until an unknown amount of years later. Afterwards, the Traveler wandered around Teyvat until they came across Paimon , who helps guide the Traveler around Teyvat in search for their missing sibling.

Aether is voiced by Shun Horie in Japanese, who also voiced, Asta in Black Clover : Jump festa 2016 special. In English, he is voiced by Zach Aguilar, who also voiced Genos in One Punch Man , Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer , Koichi Hirose in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable , Slaine Troyard in Aldnoah.Zero , Sieg in Fate/Apocrypha , Otto Suwen in Re:Zero series, Arthur Pendragon in Seven Deadly Sins , and Byleth male voice in Fire Emblem: Three Houses . He is also voiced by Lee Kyung-Tae in Korean and Luyin in Chinese.

Lumine is voiced by Aoi Yūki , who also voiced Yuuki Konno in Sword Art Online II , Diane in Seven Deadly Sins , Madoka Kaname in Puella Magi Madoka Magica , Tamaki Kotatsu in Fire Force , Tanya von Degurechaff in Tanya the Evil , and Fremy Speeddraw from Rokka no Yuusha. Appearance [ ]

The Traveler is at least an unknown amount of years alive and they both appear as young adults. Both Aether and Lumine have blond hair, have golden eyes, fair light skin, and are both twins. They both have different outfit colors from each others.

As the older twin, Aether has long braided hair and wears a black, white, gold outfit. He wears a gold earring, white scarf, gold and white cape, a gold and brown midriff shirt with a short sleeve, black gloves, black pants, a belt with a star and black boots.

As the younger twin, Lumine has short hair and wears a blue and white dress and she wears two white flowers (known as Inteyvat , the national flower of Khaenri'ah) on her head, a white scarf, a white and blue cape, a light blue skirt with shoulder length, white stockings, and white boots.

Personality [ ]

The Unknown God sends them and their twin to Teyvat when they were both imprisoned and their powers sealed. Due to this, the Traveler is keen on finding their missing sibling. However, they do not remember too much about the past after being sealed away for an unknown amount of years. After finding their twin, now affilated with the Abyss Order, in the "We Will be Reunited" Archon Quest, their main goal changes to wanting to get help from the Seven Archons of Teyvat. Occasionally, the Traveler calls Paimon "emergency food" much to her frustration.

The Traveler has befriended and became great allies to many people in Teyvat, including the Archons of each nation. While the Traveler was uninterested in Teyvat's problems, they are also shown to be a compassionate, selfless person. They are highly wary of the Abyss Order and the Fatui, being a major enemy of both organizations.

Powers and Abilities [ ]

Hailing from another world, the Traveler is capable of performing feats unheard of within Teyvat. Aside from using their sword as their primary method of combat, they are able to resonate with multiple elements even without possessing a Vision of their own.

  • Aerokinesis : With the power from Lord Barbatos, the Traveler can create a suctioning currents of air from their palm, or summon a tall tornado that carries away small-to-medium enemies caught in its path. With Anemo, they are also able to create a cutting gust of wind with the final hit of their sword.
  • Geokinesis : Acquiring the power from Rex Lapis, they can disgorge meteorites, and create a radial shockwave that pushes foes away and erupts many rocks after a set distance. Furthermore, they can deal Geo damage with the final hit of their sword slash combo.
  • Electrokinesis : Obtaining Beelzebul's power, they can release three blades of lightning at once, or coordinate lightning strikes with every attack.
  • Dendrokinesis: Obtaining Kusanali's power, they release leaves widely and can summon a Dendro bulb.
  • Hydrokinesis: Obtaining Focalors's power, they release breath in the water, shooting waters splash, and can summoned the large spiral water go through it.
  • Underwater Breathing : after obtaining Hydro power, Traveler can breath under Fontainian inland waters (and only these waters), granting Paimon, other Gods and Vision holders with this ability.
  • Elemental Sight : Even without a Vision, the Traveler is capable of detecting elemental traces left by monsters, or other sources.
  • To highlight how skillfull Traveler is combat. When Alhaitham give Traveler the can knowledge, their performant only increase by 0.073 percent. Show that how much twins accumulate their fighting experince since before they even come to Teyvat to the point there is almost nothing to gain from can knowledge. After you use can knowledge, your Travler attack permanently increase by 3.
  • Enhanced Durability : The Traveler is able to withstand attacks from strong opponents alike without taking a severe toll on their fighting abilities, such as during their battle with Tartaglia, second encounter with Signora, rematch with Raiden Ei herself, the battle against Beisht (Osial's wife) and Scaramouche as the Shouki no Kami.
  • Interdimensional Travel : The twins traveled through multiple dimensions, prior to being intercepted and had their powers sealed by the Unknown God. The Traveler intended to find the statues of the Seven in order to get back their former powers.
  • Flight : As shown by the opening cutscene, the Traveler was able to fly using their wings. It is unknown if they are machinery or can be summoned at will. Nevertheless, after their powers have been sealed, they are only currently able to glide with the glider given to them by Amber.
  • Cooking Proficiency : The Traveler can learn multiple dishes from various regions and gradually master them through repeated cooking.
  • Alchemy Proficiency : With a Crafting Bench, the Traveler can transmute various materials into more precious ones via alchemy.
  • Otherworldly Physiology : The Traveler is immune to certain cursed items that would otherwise bring harm to a normal person, such as the Festering Desire sword. Furthermore, they have the ability to purify corrupted items, such as Dvalin's tears. They immune to erosion and Irminsul memory manipulate. (However, the sibling lose their descender status and become part of Teyvat, make them vulnerable to Irminsul and can't leave Teyvat.)
  • According to the Wings of Descension. The twins witness the birth and the death of stars. Even if it mean the massive stars which have short lifespans, it's still mean the twins millions years old if the description is to be take literally.
  • However the game still share the same cosmolgy with Gun Girl Z , Honkai Impact 3rd , and Honkai: Star Rail , and thus Genshin Impact is still a de facto spin-off of Honkai series, but it is not referenced as much as in Star Rail like Honkai Impact.
  • From the beta test, it's implied that their world was destroyed by the Honkai, the same phenomena from Gun Girl Z and Honkai Impact 3rd . (Might no longer be canon.)
  • Despite sharing abilities, the twins have different fighting styles. For instance, when using their Geo-element Burst Wake of Earth , Aether punches the ground while Lumine stomps instead.
  • Lumine has a stronger charged attack while Aether runs faster.
  • The Traveler and their sibling is both separated in a different world, which is similar to Akame and Kurome from Akame ga kill who also has a lost sibling.
  • Their game is similar to the open world adventure video game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
  • The Traveler's favorite music is rock music.
  • In most official media, Aether is depicted as the Traveler, with Lumine as the Princess of Abyss Order.
  • As of Version 4.4, Aether is still at the top of Genshin Impact character list when sorted alphabetically.
  • The Traveler was depicted by Rozaliya Olenyeva during the Honkai Impact 3rd x Genshin Impact collaboration.
  • Both siblings always call each other Aether (male) and Lumine (female), despite how the player named the Traveler at the beginning of the game.
  • Both the siblings have no birthday unless assigned by the player.

As the curtain rises on the Fontinalia Film Festival, it seems that everyone's where they should be — the director, the producer, the art director, and of course, the actors themselves...

Now, all that's left is to time it so the muskets fire and the roses bloom only at the perfect moments. We'll leave that to you lot then.

This Traveler (Anemo) build focuses on shreding enemy RES through the use of the Viridescent Venerer set while also dealing a decent chunk of Anemo DMG.

Traveler (Anemo)'s Talent Priority

Prioritize on leveling up the Traveler's Elemental Skill first as you'll be using it more frequently than their Elemental Burst. Only level up their Normal Attack talent if you plan on using them on the field for Normal Attacks.

How to Use Traveler (Anemo)

Spread elements to nearby enemies.

The Anemo Traveler's Elemental Skill, Palm Vortex, can be used to not only pull enemies in but to also spread any elemental auras or applications to near by enemies. This is usefull for setting up large chains of Swirl and other Elemental Reactions.

Elemental Burst Can Deal AoE DMG

The Elemental Burst, Gust Surge, summons a tornado acts similar to Palm Vortex in spreading elemental effects but will also pick up and carry off smaller enemies. Like all Anemo Element skills the tornado can also absorb other elements and deal additional elemental damage.

Constellation 6 Can Reduce Elemental RES

Their sixth constellation gives the Traveler's Elemental Burst another skill. It can lessen their enemies' Anemo RES by 20% and if their burst also absorbed an element then it will have an additional 20% Elemental RES effect.

Combine Skills With Cryo to Cross Water

The ability of the Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst to spread elements does not work only on enemies. When a Cryo character freezes water with their Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, the Anemo Traveler can switch in and use their own Skill or Burst to spread the ice further along the surface of the water.

Better as a Sub-DPS or Support

We don't recommend using the Anemo Traveler as your Main DPS, because other characters can deal more damage overall. Instead, use the Anemo Traveler's Elemental Skill and Burst for great crowd control!

Who tf made this guide and recommended crit rate/crit dmg for the circlet? Anemo Traveler is so obviously meant to be used for crowd control and swirl. What next? Crit Sucrose and Sayu?

Why the top 3 recommended weapon has different order of overall weapon recommendations? Especially Skyward Sword is included in the top 3 but not included in the overall weapon recommendations? Its make me confused

Genshin impact: how to unlock & beat the knave boss fight (best team comps).

Beating the Knave can be challenging, but there are tips, strategies, and team comps to defeat this boss in Genshin Impact with more ease.

Unlocking and beating the Knave boss fight in Genshin Impact can grant you important rewards for some characters, in addition to being one of the best encounters in the game. The Knave is the boss form of Arlecchino, the Fatui Harbinger that was first introduced as an NPC and was then added as a new playable character in Genshin Impact 4.6 . While Arlecchino is a ruthless and powerful DPS unit, she gets even more powerful in her boss form – this is quite similar to Raiden Shogun as a character versus her boss form in the region of Inazuma.

Contrary to the Electro Archon, however, Arlecchino’s boss form is not located in Inazuma and, instead, can be found in Fontaine. There are a few prerequisites to unlock it and, once that is done, beating her will require an extra ounce of dedication. The Knave is a tough boss fight and, if you don’t play your cards correctly, she can one-shot your characters with some easy. There is a way of avoiding that, but you will be put to the test against this boss in Genshin Impact . Hopefully, a solid team comp can aid you in your quest.

Genshin Impact: Arlecchino Character Builds (Weapons, Artifacts, Team Comps, Stats)

How to unlock the knave boss in genshin impact, there are two methods to start the battle in fontaine.

Ultimately, there are two ways of unlocking the Knave boss fight. The first of them is through natural progression within Arlecchino’s dedicated Character Quest called Ignis Purgatorius Chapter. To start, you will have to have completed the main Archon Quests in the region of Fontaine and be at Adventure Rank 40 . Unlocking the quest also requires a Story Key. You will have to go through the main story in this new quest with Arlecchino and, near the end, you will face her in the campaign.

Once you beat her in the story, you can challenge the Knave as a weekly boss fight for rewards, such as some of Arlecchino’s materials in Genshin Impact .

The second method of unlocking the Knave boss fight is through the quick-start feature , a quality-of-life optimization added by HoYoverse some patches ago. With it, you can unlock the boss fight without having to go through the quest. This was made to allow you to farm for her materials before concluding the mission. To take advantage of the quick-start feature for boss fights, you have to be at least AR 40. If you are, you can open the Adventurer Handbook in Genshin Impact and on the Trounce Domains page, locate The Knave boss fight, and immediately start it.

How To Beat The Knave Boss In Genshin Impact (Phase 1)

Strategies to clear bond of life debuff.

The Knave has two phases in her boss fight, and the first one is a little less aggressive than the second, though it can still wipe your party if you do not pay attention. The most worrying mechanic in this portion of the fight if the Knave’s Bond of Life. The Knave applies this to your party members and you will need to clear it as quickly as possible. To do this, you need to heal through the Bond of Life debuff until its depletion.

If she casts a Bond of Life equal to 20% of your active character’s Max HP, which is 3,000 HP, for instance, you will need to heal that much HP to get rid of the debuff. Once the Bond of Life is cleared, the main tip is to use a Charged Attack against the Knave boss in Genshin Impact . This will deal a massive load of damage to her health bar and will temporarily stagger her, allowing you to attack her for a while longer.

The Charged Attack gained after clearing Bond of Life is called Scarlet Nighttide .

Even though her first phase is less aggressive than her second, the Knave still employs some pretty powerful attacks that can deal a significant amount of damage. Whenever the boss jumps into the air twirling her scythe, start running to avoid her slamming damage – she has two versions of this attack, though the strategy to evade it is the same. When the Knave puts her scythe behind her back or starts spinning it in her hand, dodge sideways , since she will dash or throw her weapon toward you, respectively.

Genshin Impact 4.7 Leaks: New Character Will Change Team Comps Forever

There is a large AoE move the Knave executes in Genshin Impact , though its several instances of attacks are extremely well-telegraphed on the floor, so you only need to dodge accordingly. Be wary that these attacks are put out quickly, however, so be ready to move as soon as you see them.

The main reason you want to clear Bond of Life is because the Knave has a special move in Phase 1 that connects to it. If she executes the Bloodtide Banquet attack, she will deal a massive amount of damage to your active character – depending on how much HP they have, they will instantly die. To avoid this, clear Bond of Life to use Scarlet Nighttide and interrupt her . If you are unable to do that in time, try to switch over to a character with a big sum of HP and, if possible, shield yourself.

Using Zhongli in Genshin Impact ’s boss fight against the Knave is a great strategy considering how quickly he deploys shields and how strong they can be with his HP scaling.

How To Beat The Knave Boss In Genshin Impact (Phase 2)

Skies turn red & the boss starts flying.

You will know you entered Phase 2 when the Knave’s HP bar is back to complete and the skies turn red. She initiates this stage of the battle by plunging down on your position for a wide and telegraphed AoE attack. At this point, the Knave becomes a lot more aggressive, attacking with more haste and using stronger moves . One of the most noteworthy attacks is her rail cannon blast, which is preceded by a laser targeting you. To avoid it, run sideways; do not attempt to dodge into the Knave in Genshin Impact .

In Phase 2, the Knave will continue to lunge in your direction and try to land regular Pyro-infused attacks on you, but there is a big change to her Bloodtide Banquet. While you can still make it out alive even with Bond of Life in Phase 1, things get a lot tougher in the second stage. Because of this, it is extremely recommended that you stop her with your Scarlet Nighttide . In this phase, the Knave’s Bloodtide Banquet comes in three massive AoE instances that are nearly impossible to avoid, due to how large they are.

This is the most dangerous of the Knave’s attacks in Genshin Impact , so make sure you clear Bond of Life and stun her with Scarlet Nighttide when possible.

Another noteworthy attack in Phase 2 will see the Knave take to the skies and open her wings. She will then send some homing missiles in your direction, followed by six AoE spheres that circle the arena. As soon as all six land and right before they explode, she will lunge at you, too, for another AoE attack. The secret here is to keep moving and not stack her lunging AoE attack with a sphere explosion .

Best Team Comps For The Knave Boss In Genshin Impact

Invest in a reliable healer.

The best team comps to fight the Knave boss are those that have both a healer and a shielder. At first, it may seem like an excessively protective strategy, but the idea is to clear Bond of Life to get Scarlet Nighttide and, if that fails, have a strong shielder to mitigate the upcoming damage from Bloodtide Banquet in Genshin Impact . The best shielder for the job is Zhongli, while the healer is a bit more flexible and can be Furina, Kokomi, and even Barbara – at C6, Barbara can instantly revive your characters if one of them falls.

The best kind of healer for this fight is one that is not reliant on their Elemental Burst and one whose Skill's cooldown is not too long either.

The table below lists a few team comp suggestions to beat the Knave boss:

Offensively, you can pick almost any DPS character you prefer – it is best if they are not long-distance, though. The Knave can avoid all minor attacks from a distance , which will force you to get up close to her, so use a strong melee or at least a catalyst character that attacks from a closer range. If you can pick DPS characters that excel in dealing Charged Attacks to take full advantage of the Scarlet Nighttide buff after clearing Bond of Life, that is even better.

Wriothesley and Neuvillette in Genshin Impact are some of the best DPS characters for this job.

Beating the Knave can be a challenging task, but once you start clearing your Bond of Life and using Scarlet Nighttide to disrupt some of her stronger moves, you should have an easier time. Surely, you will still need to be quick on your feet to dodge and use a combo of shielding and healing to stay alive, but with the right strategies and a solid team comp, you can start farming materials from the Knave boss fight in Genshin Impact .
