What Makes Us Special

We prioritise empowering local women by providing a fair income to them and their families (learn more about Women in Tanzania ). Our female porters get paid double of the usual wage. At the same time we limit the weight our porters carry up the mountain to max. 18kg instead of the usual standardized 20kg. And we make sure our staff gets at least three nutritious adequate meals a day, which unfortunatly is not always a matter of course in the local tourism business.

We are breaking ground by challenging societal norms and gender stereotypes. Our Wanderwomen are blazing a trail by taking Africa´s highest summit by storm as a mountain team. We want to be role models for girls and women around the world. We proof that women are able to do the same jobs on the mountain as their male counterparts. They do it with endurance, willpower, joy and pride at work. Come and experience the warm hearted way our team cares for you.

We create unforgettable memories and offer you a unique way to connect with local people in a very personal way behind the curtain of traditional tourism. By sharing stories and experiences, enjoying honest and respectful conversations across cultural divides we will learn from each other.

We create a "safe space" in case you might feel unsettled or face obstacles as a women - for personal or cultural reasons. In our "ladies only tours" you will be able to "let your hair down" when surrounded by the same gender. We make our female costumers feel comfortable and facilitate their Kilimanjaro climb also in the "little things", because we are women ourselves. We enable you to reveal your full potential and stretch yourself to new heights with the support of our mountain guides - all highly experienced, english speaking and trained as Wilderness First Responder. We will take care of you and make sure you feel absolutly safe with us (read more here ) !

We measure your oxygen level every day (oximeter) on your Kilimanjaro trek and carry an oxygen bottle for you on all routes so we can provide maximum help in the unlikely event that you suffer severe altitude sickness on the mountain (learn about altitude sickness here ).

Grasp Wonder Woman’s magic lasso during the new Warner Bros. Studio Tour, and it begins to glow.

In the same tour, you can sit under the sorting hat from the “Harry Potter” books and movies, and it will assign you to a house in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Aquaman fans can take a selfie as they hold the superhero’s gold trident.

The new interactive movie memorabilia, along with film mementos nearly as old as Hollywood itself, are now in a new building that Warner Bros. Studios plans to open June 26 — an investment in the future of Southern California’s once-thriving tourism industry.

It also comes as the 98-year-old film and TV studio enters a new chapter of its own: Warner Bros. learned last month that it would be merged with Discovery , the home of HGTV, Food Network and Animal Planet, after a tumultuous three years of being owned by AT&T.

The seven-story, 483,000-square-foot building across the street from Warner Bros.’ corporate offices in Burbank had been scheduled to open in May 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tours were previously launched from the first floor of the corporate office building, which offered less than half the display and visitor space of the new venue.

“We felt like we were outgrowing our space,” said Warner Bros. Vice President and General Manager Danny Kahn.

The tour building — whose cost studio representatives declined to disclose — is part of a larger expansion at the studio’s headquarters, which broke ground in January on a pair of Frank Gehry-designed office towers designed to resemble two icebergs.

Pandemic travel restrictions limit visits by international tourists, but Warner Bros. officials say they are hopeful that the new tour building will draw plenty of Californians who have stayed close to home for the last year and are itching to try new experiences.

“We feel there is a lot of pent-up demand,” said Gary Soloff, vice president of marketing at the studios. The company website shows all time slots for English-speaking tours are sold out for the first two weeks.

The building may be opening just in time for a tourism resurgence.

The Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board predicts the number of tourists visiting Los Angeles County will climb to nearly 40 million by the end of this year, up from 27 million in 2020. Before the pandemic, the county welcomed a record 50.7 million visitors in 2019.

The hotel occupancy rate in Los Angeles County reached 62% in April, up from 26% in April 2020, according to the tourism board. Occupancy rates have reached 70% or higher in the last 11 weekends, the board said.

Universal Studios Hollywood is also betting on visits from movie fans. The theme park, which reopened in April after a yearlong pandemic closure, recently announced plans to fill more than 2,000 jobs.

The new Warner Bros. tour building, built on the site of a parking lot, includes about 25,000 square feet of exhibit space and a parking structure with nearly 1,000 spots. Instead of one movie theater, the new building has two 70-seat theaters where tour visitors will be shown clips of movies shot at the studio.

The studio bought electric carts to shuttle visitors to film sets and backlot soundstages, including the coffee shop set featured in the sitcom “Friends” and the fountain where the cast members frolic during that show’s opening title sequence.

The new building is home to much of the historic movie memorabilia that had been on display in the previous building, such as the trench coat worn by Humphrey Bogart in the 1942 classic “Casablanca.” The phone of studio co-founder Jack Warner is also in the exhibit, alongside his personal phone book, which shows the numbers and addresses of such Hollywood luminaries as Cecil B. DeMille and Walt Disney.

In hopes of attracting younger visitors, Warner Bros. has added several interactive exhibits meant to encourage movie fans to snap selfies and post photos on social media sites.

The studio has re-created the herbology classroom from the 2001 movie “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” complete with facsimiles of the magical mandrake plants that scream when they are uprooted. Visitors can also crawl into the cupboard under the stairs, modeled after the makeshift bedroom Harry Potter’s abusive guardians provided to him in the same movie.

In another Harry Potter exhibit, visitors are asked to tap a series of buttons next to several ingredients to create a magic potion. Choose the correct ingredients, and a cauldron spins and glows purple.

Inside an exhibit area that resembles Batman’s cave is a console where visitors can use a touch-screen to research the backstory of DC villains. Costumes worn in recent DC superhero movies, such as “Wonder Woman 1984,” are also on display.

“We want to get more people hands-on and interactive with the exhibits,” Soloff said. “People want to be part of the experience.”

The studio hopes that such interaction also involves buying souvenirs to take home. Adjoining the exhibit area is a Warner Bros. store offering Harry Potter wands and robes and superhero T-shirts, hats and coffee mugs.

The Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Hollywood is now more wondrous than ever before. Wonder Woman is now the latest film to have a behind-the-scenes showcase join the tour's permanent DC Universe: The Exhibit collection. The exhibition features authentic props and costumes from the film, as well as the chance to visit some of the most iconic set designs from this summer's hit film, including the Amazon armory, Dr. Maru's laboratory complete with gas masks, and the London department store where Diana transforms from her Amazonian princess garb to an outfit befitting an Edwardian lady. Props and costumes on display include those used and worn by Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Danny Huston (General Ludendorff), Elena Anaya (Dr. Maru), and Robin Wright (Antiope). If you are not local to Portland, we offer online pre-trip meetings on request.

On the first day of the trip, we’ll meet at the trailhead (about 5hrs East of Portland) in the afternoon, divvy up group gear and food, and head off down the trail. Each day we will hike for several miles on rustic trails, carrying everything we need on our backs. You’ll eat delicious meals customized for your dietary needs, and sleep in tents. Throughout the trip there will be  intentional reflective activities , educational opportunities, and plenty of time to just enjoy the wilderness and the company of other women .

Visit Alexandria has created a self-guided tour filled with different experiences and offerings inspired by 'Wonder Woman 1984.' Part of the movie, released this year, was filmed inside Landmark Mall in Alexandria’s West End in 2018.

For the movie, the mall was transformed into what it looked like in the 1980's, with some emblematic stores making an appearance. A seven-foot drum prop with 'Virginia is for Lovers'   stamped on it hung from the mall's ceiling in an action scene.

That same drum prop will be on a display in Old Town Alexandria from Jan. 7 to Feb. 28 at 101 N. Union Street near King Street and the waterfront.

Businesses across the city will also host Wonder Woman themed promotions beginning Jan. 7.

Jenkins explained that some of the props used in the mall were donated to local charities that "would be in line with Wonder Woman's spirit."

The video shows staff delivering stuffed animals to children at INOVA Children's Hospital.

"They welcomed us with so much love and support," Gadot said about working in Virginia. "The crews are amazing and the people are great."

These unsung heroes rose to the occasion while helping turn the tide between the Union and Confederate armies.

The incredible brave Elizabeth Thorne guided Union troops through the various roads and landmarks within the town while she was 6 months pregnant. Her crucial advice helped them avoid Confederate troops while giving them the best opportunity to come upon their adversary unaware.

Hear the story of lovesick Jennie Wade, the single civilian casualty, who cared for the children of multiple families. She was fatally shot while baking food for her charges along with the thousands of wounded soldiers just outside her door. No other tour offers the untold stories of the Wonder Women of Gettysburg!

What To Expect

On our excursion through historic Gettysburg, you’ll learn the stories behind the eerie Shriver House Museum, the infamous Farnsworth House Inn, and the influential Dobbin House Tavern. Each boasts astonishing tales you won’t want to miss. For instance, Dobbin House Tavern marked one of the last stops on the famed underground railway and serves as a bar and restaurant today!

We also share the story of Tillie Pierce who wrote the sublime memoir “At Gettysburg: What a Girl Heard and Saw of the Battle” relating her account of the battle. There’s no better way to absorb the lesser known tales of Gettysburg and witness one of the city’s rumored apparitions. Our Wonder Women tour highlights incredible bravery demonstrated by the ladies of Gettysburg and the terrifying ordeals that sowed the seeds for their supernatural visitations.

Distance & Duration

Our Wonder Woman tour of Gettysburg covers .8 of a mile and takes you through seven distinct locations. The standard tour takes just over an hour. Book our extended tour which adds an additional three stops, another half a mile give or take, and roughly 30 more minutes.

Tours are held at various times. Please aim to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow for traffic and parking limitations. Tours are held rain or shine and are entirely outdoors, so come prepared! Gettysburg enjoys all four seasons, so prepare for the season you’re in!
