A Yoga Journey Around the World

By Isadora Dunne

“Yoga tours are becoming the hot new trend in travel. Personally, tailored vacation time is a must for many travelers, and yoga-themed retreats have become one of the most popular types of getaways.

The trips allow participants to practice their yoga in beautiful new places around the world, such as a  yoga retreat in Bali , or a trip to India while still leaving time for exploring local culture and of course, rest and relaxation.”

Beautiful Places

The trips allow participants to practice their yoga in beautiful new places around the world while still leaving time for exploring local culture and of course, rest and relaxation.

There is a myriad of tour companies the world over, which means a great variety of options to choose from. Whether you want a historical look at the roots of yoga in India or a tropical island adventure in Bali, the list of possible destinations are endless, as is the price range.

While some may seek a luxurious spa and Yoga retreat at a four-star hotel, one can easily find more affordable options: around $1,800 for eight to ten days excluding airfare, depending on where you look.

Yoga, Soul, and Rock & Roll With Michael Franti

There is a great selection of personalized options, like Patricia Lee Lewis’s writing retreats, which combine yoga with writing workshops in locations around the world.

Connecting the Body and Mind

“The best writing is rooted in the physical world, through the senses. Yoga helps us relax and go deeply into our own physical self,” explains Lewis, who runs writing workshops at Patchwork Farm Retreat in western Massachusetts, and organizes several international yoga and writing retreats annually.

Writing Retreats founder Patricia Lee Lewis in Los Naranjos

Lewis has been running these international retreats since 1997, including destinations in Mexico, Costa Rica, Scotland, and Ireland in addition to Guatemala and Wales, and feels that yoga benefits one’s writing immensely:

“We are enabled through the movement to bypass the thinking critic in our mind and delve into memories, images, dreams, and feelings which are often buried in the tissues of our bodies.”

When choosing a destination Lewis looks for sacred sites around the world, places where the natural world and the human spirit intertwine, which are usually on the water and are always breathtakingly beautiful.

In these spaces, says Lewis, “We are transported into a fresh world that calls us to be more than ordinarily aware of our surroundings.”

During the retreats yoga is practiced in the morning and some afternoons for two to three hours daily, with writing in structured groups for four hours a day, but all activities are optional, leaving plenty of time for independent adventure or leisure.

Though the organization and planning of an international retreat is somewhat daunting, Patricia says the fruits of her labor are well worth the effort. The change in people is palpable; participants arrive exhausted anxious, but says Lewis:

St. David's in Wales, one of Lewis's sacred sites

“By the end of the week, almost all are radiant — and why not? They have given these gifts to themselves: time, beauty, strangeness, rest, movement, and the creative expression of what has often been hidden for decades. They have stretched into their own true selves, a place almost forgotten only a week before.”

Participants have ranged in age from 17 to 84, with most being in their 40’s and 50’s, and about 75% are women. Patricia finds her international students “willing to take risks in their writing and to trust the process we use,” which results in “strong, vivid writing.”

There is a great sense of support and community at the retreats, which she says often results in lasting friendships, further supporting the writing and traveling life.

As for the future, Lewis is planning a return to Ireland next year, and hopes to find an appropriate location for retreats in the Caribbean, perhaps Puerto Rico. “A big dream is to take writers to New Zealand for a kayaking & writing retreat. Yoga would be a big part of keeping us fit and grounded!”

The Inner Self and the Natural World

Michelle Jolanda Carballo wakes before dawn to prepare turmeric and ginger honey tea for her travelers, making sure they are warmed from the inside out for their sunrise meditation on the island of Bali.

Michelle is the founder of Yoga World Tours, a Netherlands-based organization that specializes in custom-made retreats for groups of six or more.

Bali is one of the company’s most popular destinations, and as the only Hindu island in Indonesia, it is a powerfully spiritual place. Carballo likes to organize her Bali tours to coincide with the full moon, when “the whole island visits their temples throughout the night, [with] plenty of ‘Ohm Shanti Shanti Ohm’ [chants] being sung and vibrated through the island.”

Michelle partakes in every tour that she can, and though a certified instructor presides over yoga sessions, she “not only practices yoga but lives it as well.”

Yoga session at Blue Point Bay Villas in Uluwatu, Bukit

Besides organizing the retreat and acting as a tour guide during excursions, Michelle focuses on educating her participants on their surroundings, explaining the local agriculture of cacao trees, coffee, and cloves, Balinese healing techniques, and making sure the Gods of Bali are happy with plenty of offerings, for Carballo Yoga is a way of life which is greatly enhanced by Bali’s tropical climate.

“People tend to live more outside their house in tropical places, more contact with all that is living” she says. Lighter clothing translates to lighter, warmer dispositions. Attitudes change, smiles multiply, and the vitamin D-rich sunlight creates a joyous feeling that is infectious.

The food is different too. Fresh fruit is a staple in meals at the retreat, along with juices, soups, and salads, which Michelle calls “light food which makes you almost float.”

Yoga is not merely a physical practice but a full understanding and respect for all that is living, and where better to explore the living world than Bali?

Marianne Kinzer at the holy Ganges River. Photos by Thomas Fiedler

Following the early morning meditation, retreat participants are treated to a unique fruit salad composed of fresh local produce drizzled with ginger and honey lemon juice which warms the body from the inside out. Next follows an hour and a half yoga session, with another in the late afternoon before dinner.

During the day Michelle organizes outings for the group, which in Bali have included rafting, climbing a nearby volcano, visits to a local silversmith workshop, chakra healing sessions, mangrove walks, and intro dive or surf lessons. All yoga sessions and activities are optional, and included in the retreat price.

Some of the most popular Yoga World Tours are the Thailand-Laos-Cambodia “Garden of Eden” trip, a New Zealand retreat with a focus on outdoor sporting, and the “Hot Spring Yoga” tour of Japan. Other offerings include a “Discover Europe” tour that spans seven countries, several trips to India, and new programs in Morocco, Fiji, Sri Lanka, China, and Turkey.

Personalized tours for groups of six to thirty are available in any location; recently an environmental group from Italy planned a trip focusing on reef checks around Bali. Furthering the company’s commitment to wellbeing, World Yoga Tours donates revenue from retreats to non-governmental organizations like The Mae Chee Sansanee Foundation to improve living conditions in Bali and abroad.

For Michelle, interacting with retreat participants from around the world helps broaden her understanding of humankind, and of herself.

Finding the Roots of Yoga

The practice of yoga (lower-case ‘y’) in the West has become a popular way to stay in shape, but this focus on the physical is far from the true meaning of Yoga (capital ‘Y’), the Hindu philosophy. Marianne Kinzer had stopped practicing Western style yoga because she wasn’t sure if she needed it anymore.

Wanting to understand the old Indian beliefs that shape Yoga, Marianne signed up for the “Roots of Yoga” Indian tour through the Berlin Inbound Yoga Club of her native Germany.

“The old Indian beliefs are so remote from ours. I wondered how much a spiritual and physical practice from a very different ancient culture could really do for us now” says Kinzer.

Marianne thought the India trip was quite moderately priced. The group stayed in ashrams and simple hotels, and dined quite modestly at local restaurants. They traveled with a native guide and in this way experienced the real India.

The tour began in Delhi and the first destination was Vrindavan, an old pilgrimage town where the group stayed in an ashram inhibited by monks from a Bakthi Yoga order.

Throughout the trip the group practiced Hatha Yoga in the mornings, but the main objective was to visit sacred temples and sites such as the holy river Yamuna where some bathed, though Marianne was content to stick just her feet in, as it is one of the most polluted rivers in the world.

The tour continued on to the famous Taj Mahal in Agra and then to the pink city of Jaipur, where buildings are created from red sandstone. There Marianne and her group visited local temples to experience the Hindu way of worship.

It was in Rishikesh, a city in northern India often called the world capital of Yoga, that Kinzer experienced something truly inspiring. She practiced breathing exercises and sun salutations at the Hatha Yoga Center, chanting as she watched the sun rise over the foothills of the Himalayas.

“I noticed how much more spiritual the practice was than [what] I was used to in the West.” After reflecting on her time in India Marianne realized that she missed her practice. She now embraces the modern approach of physical yoga, but never forgets the importance of living life ethically, drawing inspiration both from the ancient teachings of Yoga and from the Bible.

EUROPE TOUR 2024: Kirtan with Krishna Das London

Friday, jul 12, 2024 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm bst.

yoga chanat tours

Krishna Das returns to London after two sold out shows in 2023. Layering traditional kirtan with instantly accessible melodies and modern instrumentation, Krishna Das has been called yoga’s “rock star.” With a remarkably soulful voice that touches the deepest chord in even the most casual listener, Krishna Das– known to friends, family, and fans as simply “KD” –has taken the call-and-response chanting out of yoga centers and into concert halls, becoming a worldwide icon and the best-selling western chant artist of all time. To date, KD has released 16 well received albums, including Live Ananda (released January 2012) that was nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Age album category.

KD spent the late ’60’s traveling across the country as a student of Ram Dass, and in 1970, finally made the journey to India, where he met Ram Dass’ own beloved guru, Neem Karoli Baba, known to most as Maharaj-ji. Given the name Krishna Das, KD began to chant as part of following the path of Bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion. After the passing of Maharaj-ji, he took solace in music, as well as finding peace and strength in his yoga chant practice.

In 1994, KD started leading chant in public first in NYC, and then to an ever-growing audience of yoga students, and expanding to chant with people all around the world. In February 2013, Krishna Das performed at the Grammy awards in Los Angeles, which streamed online to millions of viewers. The award-winning film ‘One Track Heart: The Story of Krishna Das’ has been in over 100 US cities, over 10 countries worldwide. and is available on DVD everywhere.

KD now travels the world sharing his kirtan practice and wonderful stories of his life, of Maharaji-ji, of his life on the Path, and discusses bringing chanting into our lives through retreats and workshops.

Through immersive, deep Sadhana (dedicated practice), we become more intimate with our inner self, unwinding hold habits and patterns, exploring our deepest heart intention (Sankalpa) and practicing aligning our moment-to-moment choices with our intention. Mentorship Program

Upcoming classes, ayurveda • living wisdom for the body.

I am thrilled to collaborate with Dr. Sujatha Kekada, an Ayurvedic practitioner based in Ubud, Bali, to co-create this course exploring the synergy of the sister sciences of yoga and Ayurveda. These two paths of wisdom complement each other and truly belong together.  Dr Sujatha and I each have over 20 plus years of experience in our respective fields, and we've collaborated in live trainings for nearly a decade. This course reflects our shared understanding that the practices of yoga and the science of Ayurveda can create a strong foundation of resilience and balance in the whole being. Over 4 weeks, Dr. Sujatha will share the  rich practical and conceptual foundations of Ayurveda, the science of life. We will explore putting this into practice with me as we apply it to daily life.

6 of the Most Common Yoga Mantras (and Why)

Think about what you need to invoke in the present moment and discover which mantra below most resonates with you.

yoga chanat tours

Mantras are affirmations that enforce a value or belief about ourselves and the world.

"When you recite a mantra, you make yourself positive, pure and your vibration is very penetrating."

In yoga asana and during meditation , mantras are chanted for the purpose of eliminating mental distractions and helping the yogi focus on one thought.

Whether you’re new to mantras or have been chanting Om for decades, here are the six most common ones, what they mean and how these sacred words can be used to deepen your practice.

yoga chanat tours

This mantra is also used in Hindu and Buddhist devotional ceremonies, and is a way of wishing others divine peace and calmness.

The next time you’re meditating, try repeating this mantra to fully appreciate its beauty.

Read: 5 Sacred Mantras to Jump-start Your Japa Meditation Practice

Hari Om directly translates to “the remover” and, much like in Om Shanti, Om is the sacred syllable that encapsulates the universe’s vibration. Put together, Hari Om is a powerful mantra that is meant to erase all suffering, and can be particularly helpful for those experiencing feelings of depression or anxiety.

yoga chanat tours

So where does this mantra originate? In Hindu mythology, Hari was the name given to the god, Vishnu , who had the power to remove troubles, negative karma and pain.

What’s particularly unique about the Hari Om mantra is that it helps to activate the seven chakras — from the muladhara (base of your spine) to the sahasrara (crown of your head) — and reconnect with the universe’s energy to reach santosha .

Read: Hinduism's Lord Vishnu : Preserver and Sustainer of the Universe

Sita Ram is an ancient mantra that refers to the Hindu goddess , Sita , and her husband, Ram .

Sita is known for displaying courage, dedication and femininity, while Ram is considered a deity. Together, they signify a divine couple and this can be invoked while chanting the mantra.

yoga chanat tours

This mantra is typically used at the same time each day to recharge the whole body.

It has the capability of improving your health by removing all toxins, blockages and impurities so that greater self-awareness can be realized.

Finally, in addition to being a powerful mantra, it is sometimes used as a greeting when meeting someone.

  • Gayatri Mantra

Gayatri was the mother of vedas in ancient Vedic texts. The Gayatri mantra is a revered hymn to Savitur, the sun god, that helps the chanter seek wisdom and enlightenment . This is because the sun signifies the divine, both physically and figuratively, and is meant to illuminate one’s true self .

It can also be used as an expression of gratitude, to both the self and the sun’s eternal light.

  • Om Namo Narayanaya

In Sanskrit, namo means “to bow,” while narayanaya has varying interpretations; however, it is generally thought to mean “resting place for all living things.”

yoga chanat tours

The Om Namo Narayanaya mantra is intended to be positive in nature and can also be used to acknowledge the Divine in all people, especially the elderly.

If you’re seeking self-realization and a feeling of oneness, this mantra might be for you.

Read: 4 Mantras That Will Transform Your Life

So Hum , or So'ham , is meant to be more introspective in nature, unlike some of the other mantras above. In Sanskrit, it directly translates to “I am That.”

yoga chanat tours

When chanting this Hindu mantra, we’re encouraged to look inward and contemplate the existence of living things.

We do this by focusing on the breath . In its very nature, So Hum is meant to sound like the inhale and exhale of the breath, emulating a tidal wave.

Try it and see if it promotes greater peace, happiness and joy by connecting with the universe.

Read: So ' ham . I Am That.

The Power of Mantras

The beauty of a mantra, such as the ones above, is that you can perform them anywhere and at any time.

They have so many benefits including bringing you back to the present moment, quieting an active mind, reducing anxiety and creating greater clarity.

I always look forward to seeing which mantra my yoga instructor will focus on during practice or which mantra I gravitate to on any given day. Think about what you need to invoke in the present moment.

Which mantra above most resonates with you?

During These Times of Stress and Uncertainty Your Doshas May Be Unbalanced.

To help you bring attention to your doshas and to identify what your predominant dosha is, we created the following quiz.

Try not to stress over every question, but simply answer based off your intuition. After all, you know yourself better than anyone else.

"In Snatam's voice...there is purity, clarity, and love."

- Ram Dass, author of Be Here Now

2019-Grammy-Graphic-win-copy.png

Snatam Kaur is a world-renowned, Grammy-nominated devotional singer, touring musician, teacher, and author known for her stirring, luminous vocal quality and insightful teaching. On February 23, 2024, Snatam will release “Walkin’ Into the Light,” the first of two singles leading to Heartflow , a new album on April 12, 2024.

Inspiring and light-filled, Heartflow radiates the profound and deeply personal space Snatam tunes into with mantra meditation and through celebration and dance. Together, this selection of mantras and songs from Snatam’s personal experiences, practices, and teachings convey the brilliance of coming from a Heartflow space in life.

The album’s debut coincides with the launch of Snatam’s Heartflow Tour through Europe and will be followed by a fall tour of North America and Latin America. Beginning with quieting the mind and tuning in, Heartflow concerts will feature chants and songs Snatam has found empower her entry into this Heartflow space — a place where her soul most deeply resonates — and share it with others who choose to activate the energy of the heart and live from this vibrant, beautiful place of awareness.

  • Read More Performing with Snatam on the Heartflow album and tour are her band members, producer Ram Dass (piano, clarinet, and vocals), Grecco Buratto (guitar and vocals), and Sukhmani Rayat (percussion and vocals). Born in Trinidad, Colorado, Snatam was raised in the Sikh and Kundalini yoga tradition in a household and community rich with traditional Sikh music and chanting. Her mother, Prabhu Nam Kaur, is a Gurbani Kirtan singer, and growing up, Snatam learned how chanting, singing, and practicing Kundalini Yoga could be a deep source of strength. By the time she was in high school, she had adopted the practices—especially chanting—something she considered a huge blessing. Snatam lived her formative years in Sacramento and the Bay Area, often traveling with her family to India where she studied with Sikh musicians. She currently resides in New Hampshire with her husband, Sopurkh Singh, and their daughter, Jap Preet Kaur, who recently sang with Snatam and her grandmother, Prabhu Nam Kaur, on Soul Bird, a transcendent devotional album featuring the three generations performing together. Snatam's professional music career began in the late '90s, performing at an all-night Kirtan festival in Lake Wales, Florida, with a band called The Peace Family, with who she recorded her first album in 1999. After initially performing and recording in English, she felt drawn to traditional Sikh chanting and music and recorded Prem, her first solo album, in 2001. Not long into touring, Snatam was inspired to teach. She had met people along the way who, having a powerful feel-good experience, wanted more. Snatam felt that if she could teach them to chant and develop a spiritual practice, they could continue on their own. She began teaching workshops along with her concerts, which culminated in the 2016 release of her book Original Light. The book's goal was to help people create meaningful daily spiritual practices modeled on the Aquarian Sadhana, the spiritual practice Snatam grew up with, including recitation, yoga, and chanting. Explore classes with Snatam, her husband Sopurkh, and other teachers at Kirtan and Kundalini, their online sacred music and yoga school, dedicated to supporting the spiritual journey of as many practitioners as possible.

He is known for his Electric Vardo shows which brought a multi-cultural experience to San Francisco’s dance clubs featuring music, dance, culinary and visual art from the Middle East, South Asia, the Balkans, Latin America and beyond. He has hosted and collaborated with World Electronica music producers and DJs Cheb i Sabbah, Karsh Kale, Azam Ali, Delhi 2 Dublin, David Starfire, DJ Dragonfly, Beats Antique and many others.

Having grown up in a musical household, Amar spent much of his childhood going to his father’s concerts. During his pre-teen years, he took an interest in the technical aspects of sound. His father, taking notice of Amar’s interest, would ask for his feedback during sound checks. Not long after that, Amar started paying close attention to, and eventually working with the sound engineers and learning from them.

Fast forward to life after going to university and obtaining a degree in International Business & Marketing, and starting up his own business as a gallery/store owner selling art, world music and fair trade crafts where he began to host intimate in-store concerts, Amar went to working full time as a DJ and sound engineer. His love for music and ear for sound nuances made this an easy choice, and a successful one.

With a focus on Classical Indian music and Devotional Chant music, Amar has run sound for many world renown musicians including Ali Akbar Khan, G.S. Ram Dass Khalsa multi-instrumentalist/vocals

Ram Dass Khalsa (known professionally as Ram Dass) creates heart-opening and emotionally restorative music. As a producer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter, he instills a unique potency through collaboration and improvisation to create art greater than the sum of its parts.

Ram Dass is at the forefront of a movement of musicians who aim to bring healing and solace to the world. He has created a series of musical projects born from his own deeply personal human experience of joy and sorrow. Collaborating with the duo AWARÉ, he recorded And Now He Has Wings , a cinematic musical journey through his process of healing after the death of his newborn son. His subsequent EP, T he Unimaginable , explores the same themes, instead telling the story as a singer-songwriter. In 2021, Ram Dass produced the score for the film AWAKEN , directed by Bob Degus, starring Gabrielle Anwar (Scent of a Woman) and Henry Ian Cusick (Lost, The 100, Scandal) .

His constant dedication to render the beauty of life’s triumphs, tragedies, and beyond has led him to the world stage. He played at the 2019 GRAMMY Awards, Carnegie Hall, and performs frequently throughout the world, touring extensively with GRAMMY-nominee Snatam Kaur and other artists. When not on the road, he enjoys a full schedule in the recording studio supporting other musicians in their creative processes.

Born into a family of professional musicians, Ram Dass was raised to appreciate all musical genres and discover the unique nuances of every song and composition he heard. He developed a near-encyclopedic knowledge of wide swaths of the musical landscape, which he calls upon to create novel and moving approaches to music production and songwriting.

Sukhmani Rayat percussion/vocals

Sukhmani Rayat has distinguished herself as one of the only young female tabla players to emerge from the British Indian classical music scene. Sukhmani has been training under the careful guidance of Shri Bhupinder Chaggar, himself a disciple of the legendary late Pandit Sharda Sahai, master of the Banaras Gharana. While specialized in tabla, Sukhmani is a talented multi-instrument percussionist, something she credits to growing up in a Punjabi immigrant family in Leeds, UK, where she was surrounded by sounds of the city’s thriving and diverse music scene.

Sukhmani has performed and recorded extensively around the world where “she brings deep beauty, passion, and artistry to her playing.” Notably, she has toured and performed with artists such as Snatam Kaur, Ajeet, Jai-Jagdeesh and many more. Sukhmani is also a committed teacher of tabla to a host of students around the world—something that she holds in equal importance to her work as a performer.

In her recent transition to singing and songwriting, Sukhmani brings her rare understanding of rhythm and percussion to her own music, delivering sultry vocals over deep, driving beats. Her debut EP, Here , connects with and empowers listeners to be fully and unapologetically themselves.

Mastering the Om: A Guide for Beginners

Feel antsy every time you chant Om? Learn from writer Yelena Moroz Alpert’s experience with this how-to guide and demo video.

Early on in my yoga practice, I often opted out of sounding the Om . Skipping it made perfect sense: My weak vocal chords made it sound like a pathetic, whimpering whine. I could never get the timing right or take in enough breath. I simply didn’t feel it.

It wasn’t until years later, when I took up Ashtanga , that I actually started to look forward to the mantraat the beginning and the end of class—though my sound was still mangled and I felt self-conscious in smaller classes.

What Is “Om”?

“Om” is more than just an invitation to start your practice. It is said to be the primordial sound born with the universe. As we exhale the A-U-M, its vibration links us to the original source of creation. When done properly, the sound reverberates from the pelvic floor upward through the crown of the head, filling the body with pulsating energy that simultaneously empowers and radiates tranquility.

Quest for Comfort Chanting Om

Determined to find this cosmic energy, I traveled 2,000 miles and signed up for every Om-centric workshop at the Sedona Yoga Festival .

I started with Yoga Om, which took place into the heart of Red Rock County. Surrounded by a magnificent backdrop of prehistoric rust-colored landscape, our small group gathered on the edge of a bowl-shaped abyss to discover our inner energy. Much like fine-tuning asanas by toying with balance and alignment, calibrating the Om takes practice. Before I have a chance to open my mouth, Roxanne Wessel, the workshop instructor and hike leader for Sedona Spirit Yoga & Hiking, tells me to open up my back, which houses the unconscious. “By opening up the back with the inhale, you are welcoming the breath as a gift, and providing space,” she says. “Doing so will clear the shadowy places and tensions within.” As I take in the arid Arizona air my back expands,I immediately feel taller, mightier. We then proceed to sound the scales—do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do—to awaken the chakras. This musical plumbing preps me for what comes next: isolating the vibrations within. As I chant, “vam-vam-vam,” my stomach quietly hums back; “yam-yam-yam” and my chest fills with tribal drums. My vocal cords are strings pulled taut with every “ham-ham-ham.” “Send your energy up and out,” cues Wessel. I feel a powerful vibration—like a singing bowl—loop in my head as I sound the nasal “ing-ing-ing.”

Surprised that my body is actually working in tandem with my voice, I realize this is the first time I am not trying to emulate the elusive sound—I am the sound.

How To Om: A Tutorial

Armed with newfound confidence, I head to a workshop taught by the venerable Rama Jyoti Vernon, who breaks down the Om syllable by syllable—a-ā-u-ū-m-(ng)-(silence). Rama’s Om is unlike anything I have heard before. This soft-spoken woman becomes a megaphone for the ultimate vibration that echoes through the room.

Her tutorial is simple enough: To sound the first two syllables, open the mouth wide as if you want to take in the fullness of the universe. Pursing lips together helps stretch out the next two syllables. “It’s like both sides of the brain come together to form an arrow that is sent out with sharp focus,” she says. Place the tip of your tongue on the roof your mouth to sound the last two syllables, m and ng, which symbolize the close of the creation cycle. Let the silence drape over you before inhaling again.

Beyond phonetics, the most important lesson she teaches me is this: “Exhalation is an egoless state,” she says. “I am not doing the Om, the Om is done through me.”

Finding Your Om

I put all of this into practice in Saul David Raye’s class, Power of Om, where we chant collectively for 20 minutes. I think of the Red Rock exercises and breathe deeply through my back, savoring every syllable and vibration that travels through me. Magical arias envelop and wash over me as I tune into my own Om. I am no longer afraid of my voice and instead visualize a burbling spring at the pit of my stomach, building velocity as it explores my chest, throat, and finally leaves through the crown of my head like a fountain, then gently drips into a pool at my pelvis.

“The source is within you,” says Raye. I couldn’t agree more.
