VIEW TRAVEL YOGI TEACHERS

We’re yoga adventure retreats (not just yoga retreats) .

As yogis, we understand the importance of balance in life. We understand the discipline and benefits of a regular yoga practice. We also know we are here on this beautiful blue planet to truly live—especially when we travel. When we travel, it is clear that the heart wants what the heart wants—joy, connection, experience, consciousness, and adventure. We eat well, drink well, laugh, love, and try new things.

If you are looking for a vegan-only, stay-by-the-hotel-pool kind of trip with a million chaturangas, we aren’t your people (and that’s totally okay). If you are looking for a balanced, carefully curated travel adventure experience, then we’re your people. If you are seeking adventure with a dose of wellness and consideration of sustainability and regeneration in local environments, we’re your people.

What Is a Yoga Adventure Retreat?

Search “yoga retreats” and you’ll find a never-ending stream of glossy infinity pools and perfect scorpion poses. You’ll see sleek bodies and solitary meditation practices in remote locations. But, if you look a little closer, you’ll notice something is missing. You’ll notice the sterility, the travel-bubble lack of immersion, and maybe even forced authenticity

The Travel Yogi puts adventure and experience first. We consciously craft travel for adventurers seeking  immersive experiences . The Travel Yogi way is new languages mixed with laughter, clinking glasses of  old-world wine , and navigating adventure flows (or actually  navigating white water in Patagonia  if that is your thing).

We are complex and curious humans seeking realness. And yeah, we are tired of the gloss: we don’t want that gloss. We want the condensation on windows from bus rides to wild places, dust on our eyelashes from a bike ride to lunch, and sand in our swimsuits from surfing waves on a quiet beach. Let’s say that again: we are tired of the gloss and we want real.

The word “ yoga ” comes from the Sanskrit root “yuj,” which means to unify. A growing number of yogis have taken this pursuit to a new level by joining immersive yoga retreats that offer a deeper connection with nature, the self, and the collective consciousness. Whether you practice daily or it’s your first time on the mat, embarking on a yoga retreat can allow you to focus on your well-being in a remote or natural setting. Studies have linked yoga to reduced stress, and committing to a structured program with daily classes can help you reap those benefits—while also enjoying the stunning surroundings of your chosen destination.

Fortunately, you don’t have to travel far to have an incredible wellness vacation . From the Rocky Mountains to the lush islands of Hawaii , there are countless places to enjoy a yoga retreat in North America. These programs range in length, price, and style—from intensives at rustic wilderness lodges to luxury wellness resorts with spa amenities. Whether you’re looking to deepen your yoga practice or have a transformational wellness journey, these are the best yoga retreats in the United States and Canada.

Feathered Pipe Ranch — Helena, Montana

Feathered Pipe Ranch has been hosting yoga retreats in Montana since 1975 and draws top wellness experts from around the world. It’s easy to see why—the sprawling retreat center in the Rocky Mountains is surrounded by nearly a million acres of national forest, creating a spectacular setting for reflection and growth. While its retreats range in focus, from yoga to Ayurveda to shamanism, they all share Feathered Pipe Foundation’s mission of offering inclusive experiences that preserve cultural traditions and encourage mindfulness. Private and shared lodging options range from Western-style chalets to glamping tents and yurts, and rates include nutritious meals (including vegan and gluten-free options) and access to amenities like saunas and a hot tub. Between classes, grab a canoe to explore the property’s spring-fed lake, hit the hiking trails, and keep an eye out for roving wildlife, including herds of elk and deer that call this alpine paradise home.

Sagrada Wellness — Santa Margarita, California

Set on 45 acres between Los Angeles and San Francisco , Sagrada Wellness offers all-inclusive yoga retreats that immerse guests in the beauty of California’s Central Coast. The eco-conscious sanctuary was founded and designed by architect Scott Currie and his wife, Eva Inglizian, an acupuncturist. The duo has been leading yoga retreats for nearly 20 years, and their wellness center near San Luis Obispo encapsulates their passions for design, holistic health, and nature. Accommodations range from private rooms with expansive patios overlooking the Santa Margarita Mountains to two-bedroom cottages with additional features like full kitchens and outdoor patios with fireplaces. Between yoga classes, indulge in homemade meals that use the seasonal bounty, take a dip in the saltwater pool or hot tub, or unwind with a glass of wine. With Highway 1 right at the Sagrada’s doorstep, it’s ideal for those looking to pair their California yoga retreat with a scenic road trip.

Arctic Hive — Wiseman, Alaska

If marveling at the northern lights between sun salutations sounds appealing, head to Arctic Hive , a retreat center in Alaska’s Brooks Range. Made up of four off-grid guest cabins and two geodesic domes nestled between two protected wilderness areas—Gates of the Arctic National Park and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge—the facility offers a truly remote wellness getaway for all. In fact, many of their guests have never stepped foot in a yoga studio, says owner Mollie Busby, who built the property by hand with her husband Sean. The center only hosts one retreat at a time for just six to 10 guests, which creates a highly intimate atmosphere. Since the property sits directly under an aurora oval, September through April is the most popular time to visit. Many retreats incorporate outdoor adventure activities, such as hiking, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing. Guests can also look forward to learning about one of the world’s most beautiful and fragile ecosystems.

Art of Living Retreat Center — Boone, North Carolina

The forested Blue Ridge Mountains serve as a serene backdrop for the Art of Living Retreat Center , a 380-acre property offering day and overnight wellness adventures. The center is known for its robust programming and skilled visiting practitioners who offer targeted retreats that address specific issues—from loneliness to chronic stress—through movement, creativity, and mindfulness exercises. Founded by spiritual teacher Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the entire premise of the Art of Living Center is based on the principles of living in a stress-free and violent-free society. And, at times, the property can feel like its own utopian community, complete with a meditation hall for up to 3,700 people and on-campus lodging that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. While a natural fit for team-building retreats, it’s also an ideal destination for solo travelers. Off the mat, you’ll find a pottery studio, natural hiking trails, and an award-winning Ayurvedic spa.

Sewall House Yoga Retreat — Island Falls, Maine

Dating back to 1865, the historic Sewall House has long been rooted in the healing power of New England ’s nature. Theodore Roosevelt visited the estate in northern Maine to learn about the wonders of the nearby Mount Katahdin and the wildlife in Baxter State Park with former owner William Sewall. And now, his great-granddaughter, Donna Davidge, is continuing the tradition with yoga retreats that connect guests with nature. Retreats are customizable—guests can stay for a few days or several weeks. Daily meditation and a variety of yoga classes (including stand-up paddleboard yoga) are included in the rate, as are three vegetarian and alcohol-free meals per day. As a four-season destination, guests can hike, kayak, or go horseback riding in the summer and enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing in the winter. The charming rooms make you feel like you're staying at an old family lodge. Opt for one with a deep-soaking tub to kick your post-practice relaxation up a notch.

The 125yearold Castle Hot Springs in Arizonas Bradshaw Mountains

Castle Hot Springs — Morristown, Arizona

Renowned for its geothermal pools, Castle Hot Springs is a true adults-only oasis in Arizona ’s Sonoran Desert and Bradshaw Mountains. The resort dates back to 1896 and has a longstanding history as a respite for notable families, including the Vanderbilts, Astors, and Rockefellers. More than a century later, the property’s mineral-rich waters still draw wellness lovers—and activities including yoga classes, e-mountain biking, a via ferrata course, and guided meditation sessions give guests plenty to do beyond soaking. The resort offers three-night yoga retreats multiple times a year, which are all-inclusive of farm-to-table meals, activities, gratuities, and lodging in one of the 30 bungalows and cabins. Delve into the asanas of hatha yoga, the foundations of pranayama breathwork, and the sutras for a deeper understanding of the practice. Then, refuel with nourishing meals featuring local ingredients (the property grows 500 varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and florals) and hit the hot springs to soothe your sore muscles.

Nectar Yoga Retreat — British Columbia, Canada

One of the best yoga retreats in Canada lies on Bowen Island, a wild haven for nature lovers just a 20-minute ferry ride from Vancouver. Nectar Yoga Retreat is best known for its signature two-night Nectar Experience Package, which includes lodging, daily meditation and movement classes, and plant-based breakfasts made with locally sourced ingredients. Longer immersive retreats, workshops, and events are also offered throughout the year. Bed down in one of the minimalistic yet cozy A-frame cabins, or pamper yourself with a stay in a deluxe cottage with additional amenities like indoor and outdoor showers, Wi-Fi, and ultra-cozy window-side reading nooks. Classes are enjoyed in a dome surrounded by pine trees, ensuring that every upward dog is accompanied by stunning views of the surrounding 20 acres of woodlands. Between classes, kayak in the protected bays, climb Mount Gardner or explore the quaint town’s artisan shops and restaurants.

The Best Yoga Retreats in the US and Canada

Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort — Lanai, Hawaii

Surrounded by pine-covered mountains and tropical foliage, Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort , is ideal for wellness enthusiasts seeking a luxurious island haven with personalized programs. While not a traditional yoga retreat, the 5-star wellness resort in Hawaii offers a full calendar of all-inclusive activities, including yoga classes, sound baths, and floating meditations, giving guests the flexibility of planning their own wellness journey. Between classes, spa treatments in a private hale make it easy to be blissfully present. Opt for a Lomi Lomi massage, which draws on the Hawaiian traditions of bodywork and aromatherapy, or try a treatment tailored for couples or moms-to-be (the adults-only resort is ideal for honeymooners and expecting parents). Many of the 92 guest rooms face the Japanese-inspired onsen gardens, where you’ll find 10 heated tubs for post-practice soaking. The on-site restaurant, Sensei by Nobu, offers health-conscious dishes alongside Nobu classics and cocktails. Balance your zen with a dose of adrenaline at the Lanai Adventure Park’s treetop aerial course, or try equine therapy with a horseback ride through the surrounding wooded valleys.

Kripalu Center For Yoga & Health — Stockbridge, Massachusetts

With five schools and a sprawling campus in the Berkshires, Kripalu is one of the most well-known yoga retreats in the US. The 125-acre center in Stockbridge has been offering immersive wellness programs since the 1980s and was instrumental in the evolution of yoga in the West. Today, it’s renowned for its yoga teacher trainings and wellbeing retreats offered by visiting global thought leaders. The most popular option is the R&R (Rest & Renewal) retreat, which gives guests the freedom to create their own itinerary of movement classes, healing arts, and outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking (the property sits on a private lake and has miles of walking paths.) Another popular draw is the recurring Essential Kripalu Retreat based on the self-care teachings of the late kundalini yoga master Swami Kripalu. Overnight rates include three wholesome meals (including meat, fish, and vegan options) and accommodations that range from private hotel-style rooms to more budget-friendly dormitories.

Fairmont Banff Springs — Banff, Canada

Those looking to pair their mountain poses with dramatic snow-capped peaks should make a bee-line to Fairmont Banff Springs , a 135-year-old chateau-style resort in Canada’s first national park. Today, its daily outdoor and indoor yoga and exercise classes and 40,000-square-foot spa facilities allow guests (including those with kids in tow) to create their own wellness plans. Off the mat, you can sign up for forest and sound bathing sessions, golf, bike rides, and snow-shoeing adventures around the UNESCO-listed Banff National Park. Then, recover in the tranquil hydrotherapy pools, saunas, and steam rooms. The 739 guest rooms also encourage relaxation with their stunning mountain views and access to the “All Be Well” channel that provides guided yoga, mindfulness, and sleep-focused routines. A selection of 12 restaurants and bars offers plenty of dining options, but the charming town of Banff is only a few minutes away if you’re craving a change of scenery.

Testimonials

"What a wonderful way to explore a country! Honestly a great balance between yoga and exploring the local towns and culture. The included transportation made exploring easy and inexpensive. The meals were nourishing and diverse. I felt very safe the entire trip, excursions and all. Also, as an introvert, I felt I had plenty of moments of free time where I could choose to go on a walk, hang at the pool, or relax on the rooftop to decompress. Overall such a pleasant experience! I look forward to my next retreat!"

- Ally, Atlanta, GA (Coastal Morocco Retreat, 2021)

“This was my first ‘group travel’ experience, and it was perfect from start to finish. Though I often travel alone, this was a part of the world I wasn't sure I felt comfortable going solo. Anna was able to apply her experiences from scouting the trip to allow us to experience the best of what this part of SE Asia had to offer. The pre-trip information was comprehensive and very informative in setting expectations. The variety of activities offered was perfect and uniquely showcased the best of Cambodia.”

- Pamela, New York, NY (Cambodia Retreat, 2020)

hikecastle

“This retreat well surpassed any expectation I had going into it. Anna's attention to every aspect of the experience is second to none. From the moment you arrive, it is obvious that she has done her homework on the retreat location, activities that appeal to everyone's interests, is well-versed in local culture, and is prepared to offer a grade A hospitality experience. Whether you are a yoga instructor or have never practiced, Anna's retreats are for everyone. Going into it I felt that the retreat was a little out of my comfort zone, but the people that Anna surrounds herself with are just as welcoming as she is.”

- Shannon, Charlotte, NC (Ireland Retreat, 2018)

CambodiaRetreatTaProhmTemple

“Words cannot describe how incredible this trip was! From the moment I signed up, there was steady and clear communication - I didn't have to worry about a thing. This remained consistent throughout the trip, with a number of wonderful activities planned. Additionally, Anna did an incredible job of coordinating any free time activities someone wanted to take part in. Her coordination and organization throughout the trip allowed for the perfect vacation. I would also like to add the itinerary provided was excellent!”

"First, let’s just say that if you’re hesitating about travelling internationally in this confusing and ever-changing COVID landscape, you can go blindly with Anna and Above Yoga - I cannot imagine a safer way to travel right now. Anna is ON TOP OF IT. And the retreat itself- the most amazing week I’ve had in a long time. As an extremely busy working mom, I was so looking forward to not having to think about any plans or meals, and this week was heaven. Yoga twice a day, meditation, journaling, healthy meals, lovely conversation, interesting excursions, time to relax, etc. I wouldn’t change a thing."

- Erin, Dallas, TX (Coastal Morocco Retreat, 2021)

"Anna's attention to every detail is beyond compare! From the moment we booked our retreat, her communication with us was timely and just the right amount. The villa was absolutely perfect: clean, safe, private and beautiful. The schedule was clear and organized but also allowed for a lot of flexibility and spontaneity - a great balance for a retreat/vacation. Anna's calm energy was also super-appreciated. Even though I know she was working very hard behind the scenes, she always was relaxed, calm and organized which helped all of us, I think, feel the same way during the entire retreat. Truly excellent! "

- Sarah, Milwaukee, WI (Mexico Retreat, 2021)

"This trip was worth every bit of anxiety I had leading up to it. Once I got on the plane, it was all smooth sailing! Anna did an amazing job of keeping us updated leading up to the trip on the COVID situation in Morocco. The accommodations were 100% perfect. The food was AMAZING, and I would eat that way every day if I could. The staff were helpful and accommodating. I loved the variety of yoga classes offered. I usually prefer a sweaty vinyasa flow, so it was good to get some of that, as well as try some new types of yoga. Overall, the entire trip was well-planned, well-balanced and FUN. "

- Meghan, St. Paul, MN (Coastal Morocco Retreat, 2021)

"Wonderful trip with a nice blend of yoga, sightseeing and unique experiences like the sailboat sunset cruise. the group was small but delightful and easy to get to know. The villa was fabulous and so much nicer than staying in a hotel. The property (incl. the rooms) was stunning, the roof top pool magnificent and the location (only a couple of blocks from the ocean) perfect. "

- Andrea, Boise, ID (Mexico Retreat, 2021)

“(The) South of France was my second retreat with Above Yoga. I love how detailed Anna is with her retreats. The pre-trip organization (flight/travel assistance, packing list, weather updates) is top notch. I also love the groups of people she cultivates to join her on trips. Her retreats are a perfect mix for me of yoga, adventure, and tourism!”

– Katie, Charlotte, NC (France Retreat 2019)

"Anna is prompt in communication. I really appreciated her keeping in contact with us during COVID. She was always open to being asked questions. The retreat venue felt like paradise. The staff we interacted with were very welcoming. I only attended one yoga class and never felt any type of pressure to do more. I can’t wait to go back."

- Lori, Winston-Salem, NC (Mexico Retreat, 2021)

"Villa was amazing, perfect space, a little tight when all people were participating in yoga class but not bad. The meals were amazing, the events organized as well. Anna you have a real niche for this. The experience was memorable. My wife and I already miss it."

- Brandon, Los Angeles, CA (Mexico Retreat, 2021)

"What a wonderful retreat! Above Yoga takes care of every detail making travel stress free and easy. Although I went for yoga, sun and relaxation, I came away grateful for the time spent with new friends exploring a new country. The nature walk and swim in the cenotes were the highlight of the trip."

Ananda Spa, Northern India

Nestled in the Himalayas and overlooking the holy city of Rishikesh and the beautiful Ganga River Valley is Ananda Spa . The luxurious Northern India resort has an array of yoga packages for you to choose from, as well as the opportunity to talk to one of their residential experts for a bespoke yoga experience personally tailored. The retreat’s philosophy is based on the balance of nature, the ways of the Universe and how the elements affected not just one’s physical but also their mental well-being, concepts that derive from Ancient India’s history. With balance and harmony at the front of its mind, Ananda aims to ensure balance and rejuvenation upon the end of the experience.

A typical day at Ananda starts at 7.15am, with traditional Hatha yoga to prepare the body, followed by nature walks. Later in the morning, there are group morning stretches alongside a talk from the Visiting Master. Around 11am, the spa is available for treatments and the afternoon is characterised by various possibilities, such as cooking classes or a gym session with a personal trainer. After the 5pm’s meditation and Pranayama sessions, there is another educative talk about the principles of life.

Post-Covid rejuvenation, ayurvedic rejuvenation, yogic detox, stress management and even sleep management are all part of the myriad of programmes Ananda offers. Each package goes from five to seven nights, and each day focuses on Hatha, Raja and Kriya yoga.

As the website describes, Blue Osa in Costa Rica was born as a safe place where guests can seek answers to life’s biggest questions and sink into a deeper understanding of who they are.

Silver Island Yoga, Greece

Guests of Silver Island practice yoga twice a day / Image: Silver Island

Silver Island is a privately owned island in the Aegan Sea, offering a unique and exclusive Gree Yoga experience. This private-island yoga retreat has everything you need to leave the modern world behind.

Its one-week-long retreats run from Sunday through to Saturday from mid-April to mid-October, following an all-inclusive set-up. The retreat itself is very small, with only six rooms to choose from. This is because Silver Island used to be a family home up until 2013 when sisters Claire and Lissa Christie started the retreat in what used to be their childhood house. It is a “self-sustainable, off-grid, untouched and grounded in nature retreat, in tune to the essence of the island”.

Each of the Greek yoga retreats on the island of Oreoi is taught by hand-picked teachers, twice a day. Guests also have the freedom to meditate and journal their thoughts throughout their stay. Traditional styles of yoga such as Hatha and Vinyasa are offered as well as more restorative Yin style flows. Depending on the retreat, the focus may vary from meditational to Ayurvedic themes.

The locally sourced food is vegetarian, providing the visitors with the healthiest Mediterranean vegetables Greece has to offer. In addition, guests can choose from an array of activities like kayaking and painting.

Yogis of all levels will be able to practice with a nature and an ocean backdrop. Through Kundalini yoga, guests will be illuminated by the power of breathwork including elemental rhythm sessions. This retreat also includes trips to the beach in the package.

This yoga retreat has different rooms available at different prices, so be sure to check those when you book. You can choose between a private cabin or private double room.

Some unique activities to consider on this retreat include horse riding on the beach or riverside, massages, acupuncture, ATV waterfall tours, and healing ceremonies.

Costa Rica is a must-destination to consider for a yoga retreat. It’s full of wildlife and natural treasures to explore, plus Costa Rica translates to “rich coast”, so you can imagine how stunning those beaches will be.

The awe-inspiring scenery compiles vast jungles and craggy volcanoes. It has understandably awakened many rejuvenated spirits over the years, and if you’re someone looking for a mindful way of life, then you’ll find inspiration here. It’s not hard to see why both me and the rest of the team have returned on many occasions.

There’s an air of positive energy that flows throughout Costa Rica. There’s something about the relaxed way of life that simply encourages rejuvenation, healing and a good night’s sleep for all who step foot onto its land.

costa rica itinerary

As well as this, Costa Rica is one of the leading countries in sustainable and eco-friendly practices and has incorporated this through tourism efforts like yoga retreats. In fact, Costa Rica obtains almost 99% of its energy from renewable sources.

If you’re looking to rejuvenate and give back to the environment, Costa Rica has many eco-friendly retreats awaiting you, including many favourites that the team have spent many days relaxing in over the years.

But it’s not just about the environment, the people help to bring that tranquil air to the forefront. Costa Ricans embody the non-violence key virtue of Ahimsa – an ethos of not harming living things. They have even banned recreational hunting since 2012.

The locals also embrace the Pura Vida philosophy, which to them simply means “pure life.” It’s the philosophy of appreciating the finer things that bring your life joy.

It’s no telling then, that a yoga retreat in Costa Rica will offer you one of the cleanest and most refreshing environments for a yoga retreat.

A lot can go into choosing a yoga retreat destination, especially in the favorable Costa Rican environment.

Location is a big factor. Like whenever you plan for a vacation, where you stay in Costa Rica will really impact your experience. Costa Rica holds more than a few popular yoga retreat locations waiting to be discovered.

Nosara is one of the most popular and is well-known for its world-class yoga retreats. Nosara also has a prominent surf and yoga culture that has inspired many people. This culture has reeled in many health-conscious and sophisticated ex-pats all over the world. For me, it’s one of the areas I love to visit when I want to hit the waves and have a more sociable trip.

yoga retreat trip

Santa Teresa is another hot spot for yoga. It has a lively scene with breathtaking beaches, which also has a popular surf and yoga community. It’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Costa Rica. The thriving beach town attracts many young tourist crowds whether they are looking to surf it up or obtain inner peace.

Every yoga retreat I’ve listed below welcomes all skill levels. There is no need to worry about your current experience level to enjoy these unique yoga retreats.

Most yoga retreats focus on Hatha yoga . It’s generally considered the most common type of yoga, focusing on the practice of physical yoga postures. It involves breath, body, and mind work. Many Hatha yoga classes range from 45 to 90 minutes in length, including an opportunity for meditation at the end.

Yoga in Costa Rica

During Hatha yoga, the goal is to center your body, as well as strengthen and purify it. This is done while cultivating life-force energy (prana) and activating dormant spiritual energy (kundalini).

Yoga retreats may seem costly, but there’s an understandable reason for this.

Each yoga retreat includes all your accommodation, activities, food, and other amenities in the package deal. This can include three fresh, locally sourced, and homecooked meals a day.

Lodging is the accosted number of nights during your stay and you’re room will likely come with unrivalled scenic views, modern bathrooms, electricity, and so on.

The cost of electricity in Costa Rica is quite high for locals, so while we take electricity for granted in our own countries, you will be paying for its convenience of it here.

yoga retreat trip

As well as all this, you have a professional yoga teacher to take you on your spiritual journey. If you want to add more activities to your stay, such as hiking tours, beach excursions, and other inclusive activities, this will add to the cost.

If you factor in all these things, the experience itself is worth the price. The addition of the exceptional quality of each yoga retreat and its staff is superior to studio yoga classes.

When attending one of these yoga retreats, there is the main focus to zone in on you . If you have the time and you want to stay longer than seven days, hey, no one is stopping you! But you might want to explore some of the country too, so make sure to set aside some time to explore all the best places to visit in Costa Rica .

yoga retreat trip

Many yoga retreats are not flexible in length unless they’re private retreats. Usually, no customization is available to shorten or extend the yoga retreats.

Here’s what we’re usually asked about mindfulness and expensive stretching in Costa Rica.

What are the Best Yoga Retreats in Costa Rica?

The Costa Rican yoga retreats are this 10 Day Detox Holiday with Daily Yoga (which is superbly regenerative and is long enough to be a proper break), and this 5-Day Surf & Yoga Retreat (which is great value and a lot of fun). Generally speaking, the yoga community is one of the most reliable in the world in terms of giving accurate reviews, so if you do find something you like, makes sure other people have confirmed it first!

What is the Best Yoga Retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica?

The best Costa Rica yoga retreat in Nosara is the 7-Day Kundalini Yoga Retreat . This exceptional experience offers guests a chance to feel the sand under their feet and make use of a brilliant ocean-view shala. It isn’t even as expensive as many similar retreats, and offers loads of really cool things to do in your spare time, like acupuncture.

What are the Best Luxury Costa Rica Yoga Retreats?

The best luxury Costa Rica yoga retreats are this 6-Day Tailored Luxury Yoga & Mindfulness Retreat (which provides a personalised daily itinerary and beautiful accommodation) and this 9-Day Luxury Retreat For Women (which is frankly incredible, and is gals only). You’ll want to find somewhere that doesn’t rip you off, because luxury items often come with an inflated price tag…

What are the Best Affordable Costa Rica Yoga Retreats?

The best affordable Yoga retreats in Costa Rica are this 6-Day Revitalize and Rejuvenate Yoga Retreat (which is refreshingly under budget), this 5-Day Surf & Yoga Retreat (which is a great time for a great price) and this 5-Day Volcano Hot Springs Retreat (which is of exceptional value, but not so cheap). Yoga retreats are generally not really that affordable, since their a definite luxury. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t find ones that won’t kill your budget or bank account!

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance for Costa Rica!

Yoga is dangerous, especially with that fake hip of yours! Make sure you are pepared for any and all stretching injuries/bouts of spiritual genius. Pack the padding of travel insurance…

ALWAYS sort out your backpacker insurance before your trip. There’s plenty to choose from in that department, but a good place to start is Safety Wing .

They offer month-to-month payments, no lock-in contracts, and require absolutely no itineraries: that’s the exact kind of insurance long-term travellers and digital nomads need.

SafetyWing is cheap, easy, and admin-free: just sign up lickety-split so you can get back to it!

Click the button below to learn more about SafetyWing’s setup or read our insider review for the full tasty scoop.

So there you have it! Those were my top 10 best Costa Rica Yoga retreats, plus all the things you can expect from them.

If you’re still struggling to choose, take another look at my overall favorite, the six-day Luxury Yoga & Mindfulness Retreat . It’s surrounded by nature yet still offers a little luxury (hey, you are still on vacation) plus, a spa!

Costa Rica’s vibrant rainforests, sparkling beaches, and cascading rivers offer the perfect uplifting environment. Wherever you find your yoga community, you’ll be sure to find peace and tranquillity in this incredible country.

Very helpful I information. Thank you so much for that. I am looking for a yoga retreat that also incorporates some strength training in it. Does this exist in Costa Rica?

9 Amazing Wellness Retreats for Women

Whether you want to find inner balance, get stronger, or learn a new skill, these all-women retreats can take you around the world.

Vera Vita/Getty Images

Girls getaways may be fun, but wellness retreats for women are where fun meets transformation. Retreats designed exclusively for women and led by women can be a great way to connect with your femininity and find sisterhood within a microcommunity of like-minded people. Whatever you need, whether you want to deepen your yoga practice, learn a new skill like surfing, or pamper your body and soul with massages and mindfulness sessions in a stunning destination, there's a women's retreat for you.

Here are nine retreats for women that will take you all over the world, from New York's Catskill Mountains to the jungles of Thailand and the Spanish countryside.

SwellWomen hosts surfing retreats on beaches around the globe, designed to empower women by teaching them how to surf. No previous experience is necessary and everything is included in one price, from the luxury accommodations to the boards. During the retreat, the Surf Coaching Team is on hand to assist guests while integrating yoga, meditation, and massage with the daily surf lessons. Check the online calendar for upcoming retreats in destinations like Hawaii, Indonesia, and Costa Rica.

Unbridled Retreats

The woman behind Unbridled Retreats is host Devon Combs, a real-life horse whisperer who believes healing and transformation can be achieved through equine connection. Her goal is to help women take the reins and live an unbridled life — puns intended. These women-only retreats take place in various locations from Arizona and California to Hawaii, including one at the luxurious and downright dreamy Four Seasons Lanai .

Menla Retreats

Menla is only about a 2.5-hour drive north of New York City, but since it sits in a serene valley surrounded by the Catskill Mountains , it feels a world away. If your dream is to run into the Dalai Lama, or see where he spends his time when he visits the U.S., look no further. Menla offers an array of group retreats focusing on everything from Buddhism to yoga, shamanism, and even conscious dying, but there are occasional retreats just for women that focus on yoga and pilates, mindfulness, and ecstatic expression. Meals and accommodations are included.

Wilderness Scotland

Ever wondered if you would be able to make it in the wild? Wilderness Scotland is on a mission to teach their guests the outdoor skills they need and, of course, it has specialized tours just for women . Instead of getting mansplained, you'll enjoy the scenic lochs and mountains of the Scottish Highlands while learning from experienced women and building your confidence in the outdoors. Activities range from sea kayaking to road cycling and traditional wilderness walking. For example, the Cairngorms and Central Highlands trip includes wild swimming and summiting the United Kingdom's sixth-highest peak.

Goddess Retreats

Bali's jungles, affordable, fresh food, and many beaches make it one of the most popular destinations for women's retreats in the world. There are tons of options on this Indonesian island, but one of the most experienced retreat operators is Goddess Retreats , which has been hosting women in Bali since 2003. It offers a variety of packages from the standard Bali Goddess, which includes yoga treatments, spa time, and local adventures, to the Surf Goddess and Fitness Goddess, which focus on building those skills. Each seven-day retreat includes complimentary airport transfer and accommodations with luxury amenities.

Lena Dugnus

Following on from the trend for babymoons , where expecting couples take one last trip before the baby comes, solo mom-to-be babymoons are becoming more common. Mom'z is bringing these women together for an all-women, all-pregnant Spanish retreat. Held in different destinations like Alicante, Barcelona, and Mallorca, the five-day trip includes group activities from gentle exercises to birth preparation classes and creative workshops, as well as massages and relaxation time.

GI Jane Bootcamp

Courtesy of GI Jane Bootcamp

If you want to kick your exercise routine into high gear, this women's retreat can help you achieve your goals. Attracting celebrities like Michelle Keegan and Jacqueline Jossa to join their ranks, GI Jane Bootcamp runs a tight militaristic schedule of exercise circuits topped off with an ice bath and daily massage. It offers one- and two-week camps throughout the year in the U.K., but you should also check the dates for its boot camps held abroad in countries like Greece and Thailand.

Absolute Sanctuary

Courtesy of Absolute Sanctuary

At this wellness center in Koh Samui, Thailand, guests can partake in a variety of programs while surrounded by landscaped gardens. The Women's Holistic Health Program is tailored to those seeking balance and includes a fitness assessment, nutrition coaching, and unlimited access to the resort's exercise, yoga, and meditation classes, plus other activities. Although this isn't a group retreat, the services approach wellness from a female perspective. Guests also enjoy the complex's modern accommodations, pool, and spa facilities.

Retreat in the Pines

Courtesy of Retreat in the Pines

For an experience in nature that may be a bit closer to home, look to Texas's first women-only retreat center. Located two hours east of Dallas, Retreat in the Pines offers various retreats focusing on yoga, mindfulness, and healing. For something unique, consider the Book Lovers Retreat, which gives women an opportunity to cozy up around the fireplace to talk about their favorite books and spend the day reading with zero distractions. The team also offers destination retreats to scenic places like Maria Island, Florida, and Sonoma, California.

We'd like to go to Vladimir, Suzdal and some other areas if possible for a day.

We are budget tourist and would like to use public transportations touring on our own.

I need recommendations for planning the tour.

How can visit Suzdal from Vladimir train station?

Are the attrations easily accessible by bus or any other public means?

If someone can suggest a plan for a full day tour from morning to evening including when, where, how, cost etc. that would be greatly helpful.

Please help this poor tourist.

Thank you very much.

"golden triangle" - is the criminal drug zone in Asia

I fond the term "Golden ring" from a couple of tourist websites. The below is from Wikipedia,

You would know a drug zone but I meant Russian cities in my question. Please write if you only can help with my question. Thank you.

Sorry I meant gold ring, not triange

yoga retreat trip

Just to set expectations, this is NOT simply some small ring of cities you can easily move around in 1-2 days...the Vladiimir/Suzdal trip would be VERY tight in one day, especially if you are intent on do-it-yourself". That is, while normally I am a fan of "do-it-yourself", getting all this done in one day - and with some reasonable "depth" might make you want to think twice about not using some local guide. At best, as stated, you would take the first train out and last one back from Vladimir, and then use bus or whatever to get back and forth from Suzdal...

Other cities are not really "on the way" - some that come to mind include Sergiev Posad, which is much closer but still takes time coming and going, and much further out Yaroslavl and Rostov...in the same direction, but a LONG train ride away...suggest you get your fill with Vladimir and Suzdal, there are quite unique, and different from each other.

One other thing...when are you going...if it is later fall, just be prepared for much shorter daylight hours...not so bad in September, but closer to December, quite short days...

I'll visit end of august. In case I want to do with tour agency. Are there tours available to book once Im there at hotels or tour agencies as day tours?
