Best Cruise Vlogs to Binge Watch

Last updated on January 29th, 2024 at 01:50 pm

As cruise lovers, we prefer to be on board in the middle of the sea than being on land, even virtually. But during those times we have to be away from the blue, we have modern-day storytellers that would bring us back right in the midst of the salty air–vloggers. Armed with cameras, microphones, tripods, and laptops, they tell stories that we love to immerse ourselves in.

Cruising is HOT and so are the Cruise Videos!

Now that cruising from the USA is moving full steam ahead, we’ve decided that 18 cruise vlogs just aren’t enough. We’ve added a few bonus channels to our list that we’ve found over the past year.

6 of the Best Cruise Vloggers and their YouTube Channels to Follow

' src=

If you can't be on a cruise ship perhaps the next best thing is watching videos of cruising adventures from great cruise vloggers! You can find an array of content on these cruise-focused YouTube channels, from ship tours, to island escapes, to tips and info. Kind of like this blog…but in video form.

One day we'll get to some great video content too but in the meantime we want to give some love and shoutouts to some amazing, inspiring vloggers in the cruise world, around the globe. They constantly inspire us with their posts and knowledge.

Best cruise vloggers and their YouTube channels with an image of a TV with a cruise ship on the screen.

We asked each cruise vlogger…

We asked all the cruise vloggers the same questions regarding when they started to vlog, what their most watched cruise vlog content is, what they specialize in (if anything in particular) and what they're proudest of in their cruise vlogging career and the cruise YouTube content they've produced.

Table of Contents

Tips for Travellers

Gary Bembridge is one of our all-time favorite cruise vloggers. Partially because he spends a lot of time and energy on videos that talk about what we love and gravitate towards: small format cruises! This includes river cruises , barge cruises , and the like. But we also adore his YouTube account because the tone of his voice and accent are so soothing!!!

Why did you start vlogging and what year?

My first video was posted on YouTube in August 2006, pretty much as YouTube was starting up. I began posting clips of hotel rooms and sites I was staying in or visiting, as I used to travel 3 out of 4 weeks for work around the world for a corporate marketing job. It was mostly to show friends and family (and to remind me of what hotels I liked and did not).

As I got more into cruising for vacation, I started posting that. My channel really took off after I retired from corporate life and started to focus on it and cruising specifically.

What's your most watched content?

Some of the very old clips I posted of Las Vegas thrill rides have millions and millions of views, and people still watch them. They are pretty bad looking back.

Nowadays, my most popular content is cruising tips and advice (as the name of my channel would suggest, as that is what I focus on and guess people expect from me).

In terms of specific videos, overall the most views come from topics that help people make choices around cruising like cabin choice, cruise line overviews and reviews, packing advice, and best cruises to do in different regions.

Do you specialize in any particular type of videos?

All my videos are focused on tips and advice. I see myself as helping make it easy and fun to discover, plan and enjoy cruise vacations.

What else would you like viewers to know?

Vlogging is hard work and takes a lot of time. But if you focus on what your target market wants to know and watch, it is incredibly rewarding to see how much you can entertain, inform and help them. The best part is when people come up to me on a cruise to say hello and thank me for helping them choose and organize that trip – and that they are loving it.

What is your all-time favorite video you've created, or one you're proudest of?

Some of my favorites are not necessarily the biggest in views, but where I feel have covered something a bit unusual that will really help. Like this one focusing on if people should consider doing a barge cruise in Europe :

Check out Gary's helpful complete list of top cruise vloggers , which he updates quarterly.

CruiseTips TV

Sheri Griffiths and her husband, Mr. Cruise Tips, have great content, both in their cruise podcast and cruise vlogs. Sheri is a natural “reporter” and is always up on the latest cruise news. They have content that's far-reaching beyond the Americas areas, including content in Asia .

When did you start vlogging and why?

While CruiseTipsTV started in 2013, we did not start vlogging until 2016. We started to create and share our travel films because we believed bringing the viewer along with us offered a deeper way to share our knowledge and experiences with our audience, outside the studio environment.

What's your most watched content?

Day One cruise Vlogs (everyone loves embarkation day!), tips about specific cruise lines and what NOT to do on a cruise tend to be most popular.

Do you specialize in any particular videos?

CruiseTips TV focuses on adventure and outdoor experiences suitable for families on a variety of cruise lines.

We cruise to see the world and love to visit destinations like Alaska, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera. We have cruised the most with Princess Cruises, but we also LOVE the MSC Yacht Club, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Holland America.

What else would you like viewers to know about you?

High-quality audio and video are very important to us. Because while it may seem like a subtle difference, viewers appreciate the extra effort. So we invest in proper equipment and spend a considerable amount of time editing.

Cruising with Matt

Matt Mramer has a relatable approach to cruising. You feel like you're watching a friend share his advice when you watch his vlogs. Matt aspires to have his own cruise series one day on TV, and we can't wait to say, “We knew him back when…”

But there's no need to wait until he reaches celebrity status to see his videos; his cruise content is on YouTube right now.

I started vlogging as a personal hobby on a cruise onboard Norwegian Escape in 2017. It was my first ever cruise with my dad and I wanted to make a video to remember it. That was my first real experience with using video to relive or recreate my trip and I fell in love with the creativity of it; I have been video-recording my trips ever since.

My most-watched content is probably my ship tours. I created several ship videos both on my own and during my time working for Cruise.com that have been among my most popular content on YouTube. I'll include a link below for a recent ship tour I put together.

Do you specialize in any particular videos or content?

I wouldn't say that I have one specialty, but I do strive to be engaging and informative. I want my videos to be exciting enough that people stick around to watch them but I also want viewers to be smarter about cruising after they watch. Recently, I have sailed with Norwegian most often so I do have a bit of an NCL vibe to my content but I'm not exclusive to NCL by any means.

I mostly want readers to know about my most recent project and the one that I am most excited and passionate about, which is the namesake of my online identity.  Cruising With Matt  is an idea that I've had for many years that I have worked very hard to bring to fruition on my own.

It is a cruising web series designed to bring viewers along for an immersive cruise experience. It is very similar to several popular travel programs being created today, but I have done everything for the project myself from scripting and shooting to hosting and editing. If there is any of my work that I hope people see, it would be this project.

Here is Episode 1 of Cruising with Matt, a Quarantine Virtual Cruise to Bermuda:

Alanna Zingano

Alanna's energy is contagious in her cruise vlogs. Her point of view and dedication to cruising are great, and we especially love her cruise line trivia videos. She has loads of other content, though, not just about cruising!

I started my channel in 2018 and took it full-time just a year after that. I started vlogging simply because I wanted to better document the places we were traveling to.

For example, in the years prior to starting my YouTube channel, I went on an incredible cruise trip with my lifelong childhood friend; we took a very minimal amount of photos! I look back and think, “Wow, we were having such a good time that we were too busy to take photos. We just snapped the bare minimum.” Now I travel with portable hard drives for all of the photos and videos I'm taking. I've made a complete 180.

The same goes for a trip my husband and I took to Cuba. I would love to go back and watch those vlogs from our trip since we can't go back and experience that destination anymore! And, if I'm being honest, I've always been fascinated about being a ‘YouTuber' and having a channel. It was a goal of mine for a long time but was too scared to start.

Some of my most-watched content is my interview series and cruise vlogs. I love to share tips and tricks throughout my videos and you can see this throughout vlog-style content; I find viewers enjoy this.

My “Living at Sea” series, specifically, has been incredibly popular. I have interviewed a few people who have lived on cruise ships full-time, along with loads of other fascinating crew members in various roles who work aboard the ships.

Do you specialize in any videos?

I love to share content from lots of different cruise lines. This is why I call myself the “TGI Friday's sampler,” meaning there's a little something for everyone in my content. I take a lot of pride in having sailed on nearly all the contemporary cruise lines.

Anything else you want viewers to know?

I try and have as much fun as possible! We make the best out of every travel situation even if it isn't pretty. Like when we were stuck on the side of the road in a broken-down van in Jamaica. (Hey, as long as we made it make to the ship on time, it made for a funny vlog!)

One secret we love to share is we always tick the box to say we are celebrating something on a cruise! It's worth celebrating so many different moments in life and if you try hard enough there is a birthday, anniversary – something – to celebrate while you are onboard, even if it is around the corner.

Eat Sleep Cruise

Don and Heidi are highly regarded in the cruise blogging and cruise vlogging world. We turn to them as a fellow cruising couple, particularly for their expertise in larger cruise ship lines, though they do have great content about smaller format cruising sprinkled in too.

Why did you start vlogging and what year?

We launched our blog in late 2014, and focused on writing and social media for the first few years as we built EatSleepCruises' presence. Many of our posts focused on in-depth cruise reviews, guides, and cruise tips.

We decided in late 2018 to start creating videos around our most popular post. We had some early success with those initial videos.

Then, in 2019, we started putting out one video a week, focusing on similar topics like cruise ship reviews and guides. In 2020, we had to pivot to more news and topical commentary videos, which did well for the beginning of the year. Now, in 2021 as cruising returns, we are transitioning again to more general and evergreen cruise reviews, ship tours, and tips.

This year it has been difficult finding the right balance for our audience, as there is still a lot of uncertainty around the resumption of cruising in the U.S. With any content we create, we provide our honest, first-person perspective as a couple that loves to travels together.

Some of our most popular cruise vlogs include our Cruise Ship videos for 2020 and 2021, as well as our Guide to Alaska cruises. Our Drink Package and Speciality Dining Package Guides for Royal Caribbean have also done well.  Additionally, our video guides and reviews for Perfect Day CocoCay are among the most watched YouTube cruise vlogs. As over-planners and researchers, we want to provide thorough analyses so viewers can make informed decisions regarding their next trip.

Do you specialize in any particular type of (or particular cruise line) videos?

We mostly do reviews and tips, with some cruise news and updates. This year we are starting our first ever live show on Sunday nights. We are looking forward to adding this additional content to connect with other cruisers and discuss the return of cruising.

We focus mostly on contemporary cruise lines. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity C ruises, and Norwegian Cruise Line are the ones we have sailed the most with in the past. Still, we have reviews for other cruise lines including Carnival, Viking Ocean, and River Cruises , MSC Cruises, and even Windstar Cruises.

Anything else you want readers to know ?

We are always happy to hear from other travelers or answer any questions cruisers have after watching one of our videos or reading a review.  We love cruising and our so grateful to those who follow along with our adventures. It is so rewarding when we get comments or emails letting us know that a video or blog post was helpful. You can find us all over social media @EatSleepCruise.

Cruise with Ben and David

The adventure and love shine through what this traveling couple creates. Their fun-loving energy and spirits radiate in the cruise vlogs they produce and broadcast on YouTube. We love to watch their candor and honest reviews unfold as we watch their cruise videos.

We uploaded our first video in April 2016 but didn't start posting regularly until a year later in 2017.

Our first video was a tour of the cruise ship, Britannia. We couldn't find any good videos of the ship showing what it was like when initially planning our trip. So whilst on board, on a rainy day, we decided to film a tour of the ship on our iPhone. We didn't expect anything from it, just thought it would be useful for other cruisers in the future.

About 6 months later we checked the video again and noticed it had gained over 50,000 views in the first 6 months and had wonderful feedback asking for more. We couldn't believe it! So a year later we decided to post regularly with weekly travel tips, advice, and eventually vlogs.

What's your most-watched content?

Before the pandemic, our most-watched content was our ship tours and tips videos. Obviously, travel and, in particular, cruises, have had a huge hit in the past year. Because of that, our recent most-watched content has been cruise news and updates.

Do you specialize in any particular type of (or particular cruise line) videos?

We don't specialize in any particular cruise line. We've covered all aspects of cruising from the big mainstream companies like Royal Caribbean, to luxury cruises to river cruising. We always try to make our videos informative, fun and show what cruising is really like. The most important thing is also to be honest. We wouldn't want to recommend something that a viewer would not like.

What is the all-time favorite video you've created, or one you're proudest of?

We are most proud of the recent Virgin Voyages video we created. It shows everything we do in one video. A ship tour and a vlog with a little bit of humor thrown in!

27 Cruise Travel Hacks Repeat Cruisers Swear By

27 cruise travel hacks repeat cruisers swear by

Sharing is caring!

If you’re cruising for the first time, you’re probably looking for the best cruise travel hacks. You want to make sure you’re getting the best deal, packing the most important items, plus getting those insider secrets that repeat cruisers know.

In this post, we’ll go through the best cruise tips and tricks that experienced cruisers know, and you should too.

Cruise Travel Hacks: Cruise Tips and Tricks of Veteran Cruisers

celebrity summit cruise ship

1. Book onboard

It may seem funny to start thinking about the next cruise, before this one. However, this is such a good travel hacks, that I want to make sure you remember it! I’ll even remind you at the end.

Booking your next cruise on board, or even putting a deposit on an open booking, has a few great advantages.

Firstly, your cruise line will actually give you money through a generous onboard credit . You’ll also pay a reduced deposit on your next cruise. In many cases, this deposit is as low as $100 per person, which is definitely easier on the pocketbook.

Conditions and even the amounts will vary by cruise line, but in most cases, it’s well worth it!

2. DIY your shore excursions

crystal caves excursion

One of the best and easiest ways to save money while cruising, and not sacrifice your fabulous vacation, is to book excursions privately or consider touring on your own.

There are many cruise ports where you can easily take a cab to close by beaches and attractions. In other cruise ports, you may want to take a tour or go on shore excursion .

With a little bit of research on your cruise ports, it’s fairly easy to visit attractions on your own. For example, in Bermuda our family took a ferry and bus to Crystal Caves. Not only did we save a couple hundred dollars , but we also avoided some of the crowds, which we appreciate.

If you’re cruising to these popular ports, here are some resources to help with your research.

3. Buy your shore excursions “on sale” with your cruise line

In reality, while doing an excursion on your own is great, there are times when booking with the cruise line is easier and safer.

So what should you do? Sign up for their emails and sign into your cruise reservation online as soon as possible.

Cruise lines will have sales periodically and it’s common to see 20% off. You may be lucky and find more. Watch for the promotions in your emails as well as in your reservation.

4. Join cruise Facebook groups

This might seem like a funny one, but joining your cruise line’s fan Facebook group (passenger run – not company run) will mean that you get that inside information and cruise news faster than anywhere else!

You’ll get all the recent cruiser tips and sometimes, it can even save you money!

Our Life Well Cruised Facebook community is where we share cruise tips and cruise inspired fun. If you’re on Facebook, come on over.

5. Here’s how to get a cabin upgrade

cruise inside cabin

You may have heard of people getting free cabin upgrades in the past. Truthfully, it doesn’t happen very much anymore.

However, the next best thing to free, is an inexpensive upgrade. Once booked, several cruise lines will offer you a chance, as the sailing gets closer, to bid for an upgrade.

If there’s availability, at some point you’ll get an email from the cruiseline with an offer for you to bid for a cabin in a higher category. It could be an ocean view cabin, balcony, mini-suite or higher categories such as suites. The starting bids are generally very low, and almost always cheaper than if you booked the higher cabin category in the first place.

We met a family of 4 on our last cruise on the Celebrity Summit , who originally booked a regular veranda cabin, and won their bid to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom family veranda. They were thrilled!

6. Fly in or arrive at your cruise port a day early

One of the biggest mistakes new cruisers make is flying in on the same day as their cruise.

When booking a cruise, it may seem like a good idea to arrive on the day of your cruise. After all, the cruise ship doesn’t leave until 4 or 5 pm, right? Seasoned cruisers know that unexpected things can happen on the way to your cruise, especially if you are flying.

On our past cruise, a plane had a rough landing in Newark and this closed the airport for several hours. This resulted in cruise passengers on other planes, being unable to land. The plane actually needed to be diverted to a nearby airport.

We sat next to a couple who told us how they’d arrived at the cruise terminal with only 17 minutes to spare on embarkation day ! Although they made it, they recounted how stressed they were and how it took them a day to recover from this anxiousness as they really thought they’d miss the ship!

Do yourself a favor, and add an extra night at a hotel to your cruise vacation. You won’t regret it.

Cruise tips: Things to do before your cruise

7. book your on board reservations online asap.

While this can depend on your cruise ship, do log into your reservation on the cruise line website and check if you should make reservations ahead of time for shows and dinners.

Very large or Mega ships have this online pre-reservation system so they can accommodate 5000 passengers, and not have everyone showing up at the same time.

On smaller cruise ships, while you don’t need to reserve your shows, it’s often recommended to book dinner time reservations . Do check your booking for your specific cruise information.

8. Pack a cruise carry-on bag

When you arrive at your cruise port, you’ll be dropping your luggage off at the cruise ship. However, your suitcases won’t be delivered to your cabin until several hours after you board your cruise .

Here’s a post I wrote with some advice for what to pack in your cruise carry on bag that might be helpful.

9. Consider buying a beverage package

cruise frozen drinks

It’s good advice to buy a beverage package , if you’ll be drinking that value in alcohol and/or soft drinks. Cruise ship drinks tend to be pricey and really add up. You may also want to book a cruise where the drink package is included, such as Celebrity’s “always included” . Princess Cruises also has a Princess Plus cruise fare which is a great value for many.

However, I’ve noticed in cruise Facebook groups, that some people are under the impression that no drinks are available “for free”, or included.

To clarify what drinks are available and included in your cruise price on the majority of mainstream cruise lines, here goes:

In the morning you’ll find a variety of juices, as well as milk, water,  coffee and tea. The rest of the day, buffets usually have unsweetened iced tea, some sort of juice or lemonade, water. coffee and tea.

Soft drinks, water bottles, freshly brewed coffee, specialty coffee, and alcoholic beverages are not included with most cruises.

You may however, be able to book at get a beverage package as a “perk” or buy a soda, coffee or alcoholic beverage package. Norwegian Cruise Line has the popular “free at sea” promotion , which might be a good option for you.

To find out more, you can check the options with your cruise line or travel agent .

Cruise Hacks that will make life easier on your cruise

10. don’t wait for the elevator.

If you can , take the stairs instead of waiting for the elevator, which is probably crowded anyway.

You’ll save some time and ease some of that “cruise-food guilt” you’re bound to have as you indulge throughout the next few days!

12. Bring magnetic hooks and clips (cruise cabin hack)

Did you know that the cabin walls are magnetic? This means that you can decorate your cruise cabin door with magnets if you like, and also create extra storage space by bringing along magnetic hooks and clips.

You might want to hang baseball caps, handbags or light sweaters on the hooks. The magnetic clips are amazing for keeping all your papers, tickets and invitations organized.

13. Buy the cruise ship internet package

If you think you’ll need wifi and that you’ll be checking emails or want to keep in contact with folks back home, consider purchasing an internet package.

Cruise ship wifi just isn’t the same as back home or anywhere on land. While cruise ships are making strides and there are more affordable options available than in the past, it isn’t free.

14. Easy and natural seasickness remedy

For mild seasickness, grab a green apple (it really works). For real, green apples are used by the crew and passengers alike, perhaps with some crackers, to settle a queasy stomach. Since they are readily available onboard, grab one or two from the buffet to keep in your cabin “in case”.

15. You’ll be in foodie heaven

cruise dinners

I know you’ve heard it – cruise food is good! Buffets, cafes, specialty restaurants, and the Main Dining Room.

Typically, the Main Dining Room has some really great options for dinner in particular.

So how do you choose?

The menu will often consist of a few choices of appetizers, main dishes and desserts, which will change from day to day. However, there are some classic choices which will be available every night.

Experienced cruisers know that you can order 2 appetizers, or split a main dish with the table, or even 2 main dishes if you like. The choice is yours.

27 Secrets for the best Cruise Ever

16. Bring a refillable water bottle

Pack refillable water bottles for you and your family, that you can also take with you at your cruise ports.

In some cases, you can also bring a full case of water bottles. Just bring it to the cruise port, and ask a porter at the embarkation port to slap a sticky luggage tag on it. Do check with the cruise line for their policies and restrictions.

17. Parents, the kid’s club is good!

Seriously, if you have kids, bring them to the kids club so that they can make friends and have some fun activities to do.

If your child is shy, a tip is to visit and register the first day of your cruise, so that you can go in with your child and meet the animators. They’ll feel so much more comfortable and so will you. You’ll likely be surprised at the quality of staff, activities and inviting atmosphere.

It’s a great way for your children to make friends onboard, and for Mom and Dad to have some couple time.

Cruise Ship On-Board Specials and Promotions

On your cruise, you’ll notice that some items and services are promoted on certain days during your cruise. While this can vary from cruise to cruise, these are the common things to look out for, in order to take advantage special offers and discounts.

18. Check for embarkation day discounts

Yes, spas will often have specials for booking on the first day, as will internet packages and even specialty restaurants. Check out the various stands set up around the ship on your embarkation day , to see if these offers appeal to you.

Another trick, is to check for specials on port days. Spas in particular are often less busy, so this is a great time to snag a bargain.

19. Shop the “specials” in the cruise shops

Shop the 10$ sale or “last day”  sale for souvenirs to bring home. You’ll find discounted items, t-shirts etc. Do keep in mind this is not usually the same merchandise from the regular ship stores and boutiques.

However, they will have daily specials too, so it is good advice to check the shops and see what you may like. Ask the store clerks when they may be having specials. You would be surprised at some deals we’ve picked up!

On our Regal Princess cruise over the Christmas holidays , there was an amazing special and certain watch brands (50% off as well as additional 10%). My son was very happy with his cruise deal ;-)!

Cruise Hacks for save money on cruises in the future

20. buy public shares in the cruise line (there are benefits).

Carnival Vista

If this is your first cruise, you may not be ready for this cruise money-saving/money earning strategy yet, but you may be soon.

What are the benefits of owning shares of Carnival Corporation (which encompasses Princess Cruises, Cunard and more), Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean (which includes Celebrity and Azamara)?

There are actually some good benefits beyond the investment itself (do evaluate the risks like any financial investment). While they vary by cruise line, the biggest advantage to owning cruise line stock seems to a a fair size on board credit for each cruise you take with that brand family.

Those who cruise a couple of times or more each year appear to have the most value.

Please note that this is general information, and not financial investment advice.

21. Kids sail free sailings

Parents and families, look out for Kids Sail Free promos as well as promos for discounts on 3rd and 4th passengers. It is the best way for families to have a cruise vacation and benefit from significant savings.

22. Casino at Sea benefits

Cruise ship casino

Did you know, many cruise lines will send casino players future cruise offers at a reduced rate?

Full disclosure, I am not a casino player so I never get casino offers. However, casino goers report getting discounts of 200$ or more on certain cruises, while some are even offered “free” cruises.

Friendly word of caution: Don’t “play” in the casino in hopes of a future discount, as this isn’t guaranteed. It’s also possible that you can lose more than you’ll ever gain.

But if you’re playing anyway, sign up for the emails ;-).

23. Book with a travel agent

Repeat cruisers have a little secret. They often book on-board (see tip above), but have their booking transferred to their favorite travel agent.

Why? Often large cruise travel agencies have lower rates on many cruises, and can offer extra bonuses like on-board credit or specialty dining.

If you haven’t booked on board, you can still shop around (online works) and get some extras and even better pricing.

Do check the rules and restrictions to see if this is right for you.

27 amazing cruise travel tips

24. Book early and monitor pricing

Booking your cruise several months to more than a year before your cruise is often the best way to combine saving money on booking a cruise, with getting your preferred cabin and best perks.

Cruise pro secret: book early and monitor pricing and promotions.

Most of the time, cruise lines and travel agents will honor the lower price and new promotions, up until final payment. So, if you see a big cruise sale, check if your cruise is now a “better deal”. If it is, just call your travel agent.

Keep in mind that not all offers combine and that by adjusting to a lower fare, you may lose any perks from a previous promotion. However it’s always worth checking.

Travel Hacking Tips for Cruisers

While it’s great to save money on your cruise, we all know that the travel plans leading up to the cruise can really add up! Here are some travel hacking tips that help to save even more money, pre-cruise.

25. Use reward miles or credit card points for flights or pre-cruise hotel stays

hotel marriott secaucus

Are you someone who has Air Miles or other points just sitting there? I was!

On our last cruise on the Celebrity Summit, realizing that hotels in the area that I wanted to book were really pricey, I remembered my Air Miles. It was great.

While I had to pay a few dollars in taxes, we had a really nice stay in a Marriott Residence in Meadowlands, Secaucus (I highly recommend if you are cruising out of Cape Liberty, New Jersey or New York) and used up points that were really just sitting there.

In this YouTube video , I go into a greater explanation of 12 Cruise Hacks that Will Save You Money. If you find it helpful, feel free to share it with a cruising friend :-)!

26. Road trip to your cruise port

One of the biggest expenses of a cruise vacation, will likely be the flights. If you’re a family of 4, sometimes the cost of the flights is the same or even more than the cruise itself.

If at all possible, consider taking a road trip and driving to the cruise port. A few hours in the car on the way to a cruise, might even be fun!

27. Use a “Park & Cruise” hotel

If you’ve driven to your cruise port, you might like to park at a hotel and take the shuttle to the cruise port. Some hotels nearby popular cruise ports have an option to Park and Cruise (like Park and Fly).

Since you have to pay for parking a the port anyway, this is often a good value for cruisers.

Tip: Do check to see if this is worth it by comparing the cost of port parking plus hotel, to the Park & Cruise rate. Plus, evaluate your time to see if this suits you on the day you disembark from your cruise .

Hello I’d love to see a video or post on how to pack the hacks i see around the list can be 20-30items long but with NO hack on packing the hacks😆.

Lol I love this Tanya!! Unfortunately it won’t be a “packing light” video, but it can be done. Thanks for the idea – I’ll definitely make a packing video sometime soon-ish and will remember this.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment 🙂

My favourite hack is how get a “free” ride to the airport. Book your return flight for late in the day, and book a city tour excursion on debarkation, being careful that it offers an airport option. You’ll have to take your luggage on the tour bus, of course. I did this in Fort Lauderdale, had a great tour of the city, then was dropped at the airport where I picked up my rental car for the rest of my vacation.

This is an amazing tip Susan. You’re so right, it’s useful for those with flights late in the day as well. Awesome hack that I will definitely share!

Thanks so much,

' src=

We inadvertantly got a free ride back to the airport after the cruise because we were renting a car at the airport for the day. Off the ship at 9am, and didn’t fly out until 9pm. Needed somewhere to go for 12 hours, so for $40, we rented a car and drove around all day..and just grabbed the car rental shuttle to the airport, for free. I never really thought about it, but they didn’t ask us any qualifying questions, so anyone “could” have hopped on that shuttle for a free ride to the airport.

This is awesome Jonathon. So glad it worked out & that you had a great day this way – plus the free shuttle. Thanks for sharing the extra cruise travel hack 🙂

One of my favorite hacks is getting a “free” ride to the airport. When you land, make sure your return flight is late in the day, and book a city tour excursion afterward, making sure it has an airport option. You’ll have to take your luggage on the tour bus, so I did this in Fort Lauderdale, and I had a great time, then got dropped off at the airport to pick up my rental car for the rest of my vacation.

Amazing tip!

i culdnt find any better travel insights than this , thanks a bunch

wow, thanks for putting this piece of information together

Thank you Dave and Deb for sharing this great article. Me and my wife We love travelling and when we not travelling, we can watch someone else travelling…)

An indeed insightful collection of travel youtube channels one would wish to watch.

Thank you very much theplanetd.com to telling us about inspiring travel channel.

This Guy “Indigo Traveller” is really a worthy mention. Gives us an insight into North Korea

Way late to the game but I’d recommend Indigo Traveller. He puts out lots of great content, goes to a number of less poplar destinations (including NK), and seems like a genuinely awesome guy to boot.

Check out Chasing Everywhere! She travel the world full time and makes videos of unique places she finds. Really beautiful drone footage and great tips and tricks! youtube.com/chasingeverywhere

Thanks for letting us know. We’ll definitely check them out! This post is a year or so old, so it is time to update it for sure. Cheers Deb

Hey there! When/if you update your YouTube adventure travels to watch list, maybe consider QE Adventures (short for Quinn and Ethan Adventures).

These teenage brothers are skilled videographers and editors and personably narrate their family friendly high adventures in a style that makes audiences wish they’d come along. It’s one of the few channels with videos from the teenage travelers’ perspectives.

Love this post!! Thankyou!! So much inspiration in one page its insane! You guys should definitely check out our youtube channel too! We are Mami & Papi – young parents with a passion for life! Our channel is recent but slowly upcoming – we hope to become insipration to others too one day 🙂 https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC8vQHR5Du1dx1LVEoqL_KUQ

Thanks for sharing your channel. I’ll be sure to check it out and all the best to you!

Hi, Dave and Deb.

Have to say a relay wonderful blog 🙂 Something similar what we have started our self, but we are aiming for local travel experience in our small but very beautiful country Lithuania. As I see you haven’t been here. You are very very welcomed here. Although we are small but that does not mean we don’t have anything to show 🙂 Would be super so see your experience of our countr here 🙂

Cheers, Auste and Justas @ TravelingLithuania

Thanks! We’d love to come to Lithuania in the near future.

What is with the popularity contest? This is the same boring list that everyone publishes. I’m so tired of seeing the same people on these lists, two of whom should not be included!

You are more than welcome to add some names. We asked if anyone had someone to add. So put them on the list. These are the people we follow and enjoy. Also, there is another list that Christine wrote for us just before we compiled this one. that we talked about at the beginning of this blog post. (if you read it) And the reason we decided to do a part two. Sorry if you are not on it, I am not familiar with your videos, but I’ll take a look. I don’t know everyone out there. But I try.

Ah, I just went and took a look at your YouTube travel channel and see that you haven’t posted in two years. That would be the reason I hadn’t thought of you. Good luck if you start posting again. PS, I deleted your comment made under the John Doe email address as I see it is from the same IP address as you, (within minutes of each other) and nobody needs to read a second complaint saying the same thing by you under a pseudonym. But I left yours up because I feel that people have a right to their opinion. Cheers!

Great collection, getting entertained and inspired to travel. Thanks

Amazing collection of channels here! I really dig the aggregation and attribution going on. Thanks for sharing these channels with us!

Thanks for the recommendations, I will check these out!

So my channel isn’t quite as robust as many of the ones mentioned here, but it does highlight a part of the world that none of these Youtube channels even go near. Check it out! I’d love to hear your feedback.

Suri cruise rings in 18th birthday in nyc while tom on set in london, suri cruise milestone 18th bday in rainy nyc ... dad tom on london set.

Suri Cruise is celebrating adulthood -- let that sink in -- as she rings in her 18th birthday in NYC by taking a rainy day stroll with a friend.

Despite the dreary weather, Suri didn't let a little rain wash out her big day ... she happily chatted away with her pal while under the shelter of her pink umbrella.

Suri had a gift bag in hand during her walk around town, suggesting the celebrations were already underway. It remains to be seen if there will be any larger festivities later -- she leads a pretty low-key lifestyle -- but ya gotta figure her mom Katie Holmes has something planned for such a big birthday.

As for Suri's dad, Tom Cruise , he most certainly won't be joining in on the birthday fun for a couple reasons.

First of all, Tom's across the pond from Suri right now -- he's busy filming a new project in London.

But, more importantly, the father and daughter reportedly haven't had a close relationship since 2012.

In fact, the last time they were publicly seen together was at Disney World that summer. That's also the same year Katie filed for divorce from Tom, when Suri was just 6-years-old.

At this point, they've been estranged twice as long as they were together -- so, the Tom factor's probably NBD for her.

Suri's eligible to vote for the first time. They really do grow up so fast!!!

Top Cruise Vlog YouTube Channels Updated

by Gary Bembridge · August 15, 2021

Cruise Vlog

I have updated the tracker of cruise vlogging channels on YouTube, which I last did in May. If any channels are missing, please let me know in the comments, and I will add them for the next update. This list should help people interested in cruising to find new channels that perhaps they did not know about, and a chance to watch and support new and emerging channels.

This is the list of cruise vlog channels ranked by number of subscribers as at 15 August 2021.

Here are some things that I have seen over the last few months:

  • The views of these channels has been an amazing 68,100,100 since May! And these channels added 446,000 subscribers.
  • There are now 5 channels with over 100,000 subscribers : Tips For Travellers (208,000); Don’s Family Vacations (125,000); Cruise With Ben and David (113,000); La Lido Loca (112,000) and Royal Caribbean Blog (104,000)
  • The 6 fastest growing channels by subscribers since February (when I started the list) are: Tips For Travellers and Emma Cruises (both +43,000); La Lido Loca (+41,600); Jordan Bauth (+30,400) and The ShipLife and Cruise With Ben and David (both at +24,000)
  • Cruise Passion from Italy has seen huge growth in views, with 7.8 Million since February. The four other channels with most views in that time period are Tips For Travellers (+9.3 million); La Lido Loca (+7.5 million); Don’s Family Vacations (+5.8 million) and Emma Cruises (+4.6 million).

Gary Bembridge

I grew up in Zimbabwe, but I have been based in London since 1987. My travel life spans more than three decades and that includes more than 95 cruises. In 2005, I launched Tips for Travellers to make it easy and fun for people to discover, plan and enjoy incredible cruise vacations. And the rest, as they say, is history. I have the largest cruise vlogger channel currently on YouTube, with more than 3 million video views per month.

I AM CREW… I have worked on cruise ships for the past 12 years and bring an “insider’s view” of cruising. I have been to 86 countries and have videos on ports and excursions around the world.

I started a YouTube Channel last year called “Travel Guide and Photography”. I only have 5,403 views and 219 subscribers partly because on my last contract on the NCL Jade for 6 months I had no access to YouTube as crew.

I am headed to Alaska for my 9th summer this time on the Koningsdam in a couple weeks. My first videos were a 7-part series on Alaska which I will update this year with videos.

I have been a professional photographer and published since 1979 and an absolute rookie doing videos and YouTube but I am learning.

YouTube Channel… “Travel Guide and Photography”…. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC52y3afYss8tJx7ZxAsOB6A

Forgot to mention… I’m from the US… Larry Pannell Travel Guide and Photography… thanks Gary

' src=

We enjoy The Jacob Family. They only have 2,500 subs but they have a great cruise vlogging channel.

Princess Cruises' Star Princess ship delayed, 9 sailings canceled

cruise trip youtube

Travelers will have to wait longer than planned to sail on Princess Cruises’ upcoming ship.

The delivery of Star Princess, which was set to debut next summer, will be pushed back by about two months. The cruise line said the delay was a “mutual” decision with shipbuilder Fincantieri.

“Following a comprehensive review of the remaining construction milestones, both parties have elected to adjust the ship's delivery date from July 29, 2025 to September 26, 2025, which will result in the cancellation of the nine inaugural sailings,” Princess said in a news release .

Guests whose cruises are impacted will be able to rebook on any Princess ship and, depending on which sailing they pick, receive future cruise and onboard credits. They will also be able to opt for a full refund of their fare instead.

“Despite our collective dedication and relentless pursuit to deliver the ship in late July, it has become evident that additional time is required to ensure the Star Princess is delivered to the highest standards expected by our guests,” Princess Cruises President John Padgett said in the release.

Your cruise was canceled: Now what?

The ship’s new inaugural itineraries will include 11 and seven-day Mediterranean cruises on Oct. 4 and 15, 2025, respectively. Those will be followed by a two-week transatlantic voyage to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Oct. 22, 2025.

Those sailings will be available to book on April 30.

Star Princess will be the second in the line’s Sphere Class. Sister ship Sun Princess was also delayed ahead of its launch earlier this year, with Princess citing “additional technical work” needed at the shipyard.

Venice’s Tourist Fee Is Now in Effect — What to Know

The fee is in place for day-visitors over 14 years old from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

cruise trip youtube

Stacey Wreathall/Travel + Leisure

Day visitors to Venice on Thursday had to pay to get in as the famous city started implementing the much-talked about day trip fee.

Travelers hoping to explore the Italian city had to pony up €5 ($5.36) per person at the train station. The fee, which was first floated as an idea in 2019 but postponed several times , will initially be in effect for 29 days and cover most weekends through mid-July.

“We need to find a new balance between the tourists and residents,’’ Simone Venturini, the city’s top tourism official, told The Associated Press . “We need to safeguard the spaces of the residents, of course, and we need to discourage the arrival of day-trippers on some particular days.”

The dates the fee is in effect were displayed on large signs at Venice’s main train station on Thursday, the wire service reported, with separate entrances available for tourists, and residents, students, and workers.

The fee, which is in effect for travelers over 14 years old from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m., can be paid online . Day visitors who pay in advance receive a QR code, which they must then show to officials at Venice's main access points.

On Thursday, the AP noted there were stewards available to help travelers unaware of the new rules to download the QR code and pay.

Tourists who are staying overnight will not have to pay the new day fee, but must apply online for an exemption . Overnight guests who book a hotel stay are already subject to a different tax.

This fee is the city’s latest effort to address overtourism. In January, Venice built on that goal by announcing plans to limit the number of travelers allowed on tour groups to no more than 25 people. That rule will apply to Venice’s historic center as well as the popular islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello.

These efforts come months after UNESCO spared Venice from its list of world heritage sites in danger once again despite recommendations to add it.
