Discover the Best Disneyland Park Tours From Las Vegas

"The Happiest Place on Earth" is an 85-acre legendary theme park located in Anaheim, California and the only Disney attraction designed by Walt Disney himself in the early 1950s. Disneyland was opened in 1955 and was based on theme parks Disney went to with his daughters in previous decades. With more than 16 million guests, it is the second most visited theme park in the United States behind the larger Disney World - Magic Kingdom in Florida and is the most visited in the world cumulatively with more than 650 million guests since it premiered. Disneyland is divided into the eight themed sections of Main Street, U.S.A., Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Mickey's Toontown, Critter Country, New Orleans Square and Adventureland. Recently revamped in 2015 with the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," you'll discover new and old rides updated at Tomorrowland, including a new version of Star Tours. Grab your Disneyland tickets and come on down to meet classic and new Disney characters up close and personal. And, don't miss the classic Disney parade and, of course, the fireworks show!

Roadtrip to Disneyland: Leaving Las Vegas and Making Our Way to Disneyland

  • Indiana Jones Adventure
  • Lunch/Dinner at French Market
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Haunted Mansion

Day 6: Now, visiting the great Southwest and enjoying the sights and sounds of the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Las Vegas were great, but really this trip started out with Mickey Mouse in mind. So today was the big day, our last long drive and first day at Disneyland!

Welcome to Disneyland

We slept in (we were in Vegas after all), packed up and hit the road about 10 am.

We arrived in Anaheim around 2 pm. Following our usual routine we checked into the hotel (this time the Howard Johnson “HoJo” on Harbor Boulevard), dropped off our suitcases, packed a park bag (a backpack full of items that are helpful at the theme park) and off we went to the park within 30 minutes of arriving. It was a really easy walk, less than 10 minutes if you are a fast walker, maybe closer to 15 with little kids in tow.

Disneyland was a new experience for me. I haven’t been there since I was in 6th grade. I have, however, been to Disney World several times in the last few years. Disneyland and Disney World are different. I mean really different. The first difference is that when you are walking along Harbor Boulevard toward the parks you are definitely not in the Disney bubble. It is a regular city atmosphere with bus stops, an occasional panhandler and people just living regular life. After arriving at Disney World you are completely sheltered from anything non-Disney.

Once you have walked about a quarter mile from the HoJo it is time to cross Harbor Boulevard and walk under the Disneyland sign.

Disneyland entrance sign diamond celebration

From here it is a just a little further until you reach security and the park entrances.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are across a plaza from each other. Like so close it is shocking to those who are used to Disney World. Now I see why people really encouraged getting a park hopper (a ticket option that allows entrance to more than one park per day).

The next big difference was when we walked through the entrance turnstiles. Who was waiting right there? Snow White and Belle! And with very little line! So within 15 minutes we’ve already met two princesses, and I still haven’t even grabbed a map yet.

rs-belle

For those of you who are avid Disney World people, be prepared for Sleeping Beauty’s castle. It is beautiful and detailed, but is a lot smaller than Cinderella’s. It just doesn’t have the huge presence of Cinderella’s. The overall footprint of Disneyland is 85 acres versus 107 acres at Magic Kingdom, and you certainly feel the difference. But Disneyland has an amazing charm all of its own if you give it a chance.

Main Street Disneyland

We started off toward Adventureland. The wait for Jungle Cruise was pretty short so we hopped on that classic first. We had initially wanted to go on Indiana Jones Adventure, but it was closed briefly for a repair. We enjoyed our cruise captain’s terrible jokes, the sights and sounds of the jungle and exited the attraction.

Just as we were walking past Indiana Jones to grab something to eat a cast member opened the chain for the line – Indiana Jones Adventure was up and running! This is a ride that generally has a higher wait time (it is not unusual for the wait to be 40 minutes or more), but we walked right through the line and got into a vehicle within a few minutes.

A snake waits for us in the Indiana Jones line

The ride simulated a bumpy trip through the movies complete with avoiding some of the pitfalls Indiana Jones himself encountered. My mom and I loved it. Elizabeth, not so much. She is more of a roller coaster than a dark ride kid.

By now we were starving, because we had skipped lunch and only had snacks on the drive. I always preview menus for quick service places at the parks so that I know which places have things that should be safe  for Elizabeth’s food allergy ( see my guide to dealing with food allergies at the parks ) and still delicious. A very short walk from Indiana Jones brought us to French Market restaurant where Elizabeth ate her fill of chicken and rice and we ladies had beef stew in a bread bowl. Yum!

Next up: Pirates of the Caribbean. This is one of those rides that is present at both Disneyland and Disney World, but I have to admit the one at Disneyland is way more amazing. The ride is longer, more detailed and just a lot more fun in my (and rest of my party’s) opinion. Which is saying a lot since we love the one at Disney World.

A quick walk brought us to the Haunted Mansion. Again, present at both parks, but this time pretty similar in experience. The waiting queue in Walt Disney World is more interactive fun (it was recently updated in 2011), but Disneyland decks out the Haunted Mansion for the holidays so let’s call that one a tie.

Haunted Mansion Disneyland Resort

Although our dinner was delicious, we were looking for a treat. I had read a post from Casey at Disneyland Daily about “off the menu”  items at Disneyland. We went in search of the ice cream nachos at Golden Horseshoe Saloon. I checked with staff that the ice cream was corn-free (it was!) and we got this plate full of broken waffle cones, ice cream and hot fudge. It was ridiculous, in a good way. And only $5.99. The three of us couldn’t finish it all.

Disneyland Diamond Celebration Ears

After successfully purchasing ears we walked over and got right onto Pinocchio’s daring journey (tame ride through some of the movie scenes)…

Pinnochio ride Disneyland

and then went to Mad Tea Party (or as many know it, “the tea cups”). This was again one that Disneyland wins in the showdown. We absolutely loved the open air with trees and lanterns over the ride at Disneyland versus the roofed version at Disney World. How could you not love to look at this?!

Lanterns above Mad Tea Party Disneyland

I think it was a pretty successful day considering we got to the parks a little before 3 pm. Time to head back to the hotel and rest up for our first full day at the park!

How Far Is Disneyland From Las Vegas?

posted by Karly Braggington on May 11, 2022 // last updated on September 11, 2023

Whether you live in Las Vegas, Nevada , USA or are vacationing there, a trip to Disneyland Park in Anaheim will give you, and your kids, a unique break from city life!

The Disney California Adventure theme park is a popular destination for Las Vegas natives looking for a weekend escape, only a short driving distance away.

Disneyland Park, California is approximately 265.6 miles away from Las Vegas . This means that you can easily reach the park within an afternoon if you plan on driving. However, with Las Vegas Airport regularly running flights and alternative bus and train options available, vacationers have plenty of choices for park transportation.

But which is best? To answer the question of ‘How far is it from Las Vegas to Disneyland?’, this article will examine the different transport methods available to determine how much travel time each requires!

Driving from Las Vegas to Disneyland

Flying from las vegas to disneyland, taking a train from las vegas to disneyland, taking a bus from las vegas to disneyland, when is the best time to travel to disneyland from las vegas, how much does it cost to take a bus from las vegas to disneyland, where does the las vegas to disneyland bus arrive, what airport do you fly from for flights from las vegas to anaheim, is there a train service between las vegas and disneyland, california, final thoughts, how to get to disneyland from las vegas.

You can travel to the Disneyland theme park from Las Vegas either by car, bus, train, or plane .

disneyland tour from las vegas

Driving from Las Vegas to Disneyland is arguably the easiest option for weekend vacationers, which can be done in under 5 hours if the traffic is good.

Driving is the most affordable option, particularly if you have a large family you need to transport to Las Vegas. However, you will have to pay for parking once you arrive at the resort, a maximum of $75 per day .

Once onto Interstate 15, the route is direct and straightforward and takes you through some of the most scenic parts of the state.

One of the highlights of the drive is the Mojave National Preserve, which you’ll first encounter around 60 miles – or 1 hour – into your road trip. One of the most scenic stretches of the trip, Mojave is full of dense forestry, dunes, and craggy mountain peaks.

There are also several towns where you can stop, stretch your legs, and grab a bite to eat, including Baker and Mountain Pass. After passing through Mojave, you’ll encounter the vibrant towns and stops of Barstow and Rancho Cucamonga.

Alternatively, you can switch onto the CA-38 W at Barstow to include Big Bear Lake and the San Bernardino National Forest in your route. This will extend your journey time to around 5 and a half hours, but it’s worthwhile to take in more of California’s natural scenery.

Check out more places to visit with the kids in California to make your trip unforgettable!

Estimated travel time

If you opt to take the direct route on Interstate 15, you can reach Disneyland Park in 4-5 hours of travel time. However, this travel time can be significantly increased if you travel at an inopportune time – rush hour in Las Vegas is famously hectic!

Traffic tends to flow well once on Interstate 15, but getting on it between 6 and 7 am and 4 pm and 6 pm can be difficult. In order to reduce your travel time, make sure to avoid these times and travel only during off-peak hours.

How far away is Disneyland from Las Vegas by air?

Flights between Las Vegas and Disneyland are offered by Spirit Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and a few other prominent flight companies. Flying is the fastest means of getting between the cities of Las Vegas, NV, and Anaheim, CA, so if you’ve got tight holiday schedules, it may be the best option.

Flights can cost anywhere between $115 and $301 – sometimes more, sometimes less!

You can fly from Las Vegas Airport (LAS) to either John Wayne Airport (SNA) or Long Beach Airport (LGB). John Wayne Airport is the closest to Disneyland Adventure, just 15.5 miles away from the resort .

A flight from Las Vegas Airport (LAS) to John Wayne Airport (SNA) only lasts around 1 hour and 10 minutes , although this can differ depending on your flight. SNA is only 14 miles away from Disneyland, meaning you can catch a cab between the two in under 20 minutes ! This option, therefore, is the fastest means of reaching Disney from Las Vegas.

Alternatively, a flight from Las Vegas to Long Beach Airport (LGB) takes just 1 hour and 5 minutes . Although a shorter flight, LGB is 18 miles away from Disneyland, meaning you’ll need to get a slightly longer cab ride that will take over 20 minutes at least.

disneyland tour from las vegas

Next up, how far away is Las Vegas from Disneyland by train?

It is possible to get a train from Las Vegas to Anaheim; however, it is the longest and most challenging travel option for getting between the two cities.

There is only one daily train between the two cities on the Amtrak train line, which costs $102 and takes over 13 hours . This train leaves Las Vegas at 9 am and is not a direct train.

It’s slightly easier to get a return train as two depart from Anaheim per day, one at 8 am, and another at 9 am. The return journey takes slightly less time, with some trains lasting just over 12 hours . This return journey costs $105 .

The train may be a good option for those who don’t want to make the car ride or don’t like traveling by bus or plane. However, it’s the most lengthy travel method and probably not worth it if you spend only a few days in Disneyland.

Not only will you have to commit to a 12-13 hour train ride, but you’ll also have to travel between your arrival station – Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) – and the resort. Luckily, there is only a 3.3-mile distance between the two, and the station is well connected via buses, taxis, and shuttles.

In a taxi, it will only add around 7 minutes to your travel time.

Disneyland california

If you don’t fancy doing the driving distance yourself, some Greyhound USA bus options will take you from Las Vegas to Disneyland.

The best means of going from Las Vegas to Disneyland would be getting a bus from Las Vegas Downtown to Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), which is direct and will only cost you between $21 and $57 depending on the day and time you decide to travel.

From here, you can take an additional bus on the ARTIC Sports Complex Line, which will take you from ARTIC station right to the Disneyland Main Transportation Centre. This additional bus should only cost you around $5 .

The bus from Las Vegas to Disneyland will only take around 6 hours and 30 minutes in total, depending on traffic.

On average, the bus between Las Vegas Downtown and ARTIC takes 6 hours and 5 minutes, while the connector bus between ARTIC and Disneyland Main Transportation Center only takes around 20 minutes.

From Disneyland Main Transportation Center, there is only a 5-minute walk to the theme park’s main entrance!

disneyland tour from las vegas

Whichever way you decide to travel to your theme park vacation, be sure to put in sufficient planning beforehand, specifically regarding travel time.

Avoid rush hour when leaving for your Disneyland day trip, as it can take a long time to get onto Interstate 15. When traveling on the highway, it’s really just your luck how busy it’s going to be. However, you can guarantee fast driving during the off-peak hours of the d for the most partay.

Suppose you’ve decided to take a bus from Las Vegas to Disneyland California Adventure. In that case, we’d recommend booking a service that departs and arrives during off-peak times in order to ensure your journey is fast.

Alternatively, if you would rather take a flight from Las Vegas to Disneyland on Southwest Airlines, the cheapest days to fly are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Unless there are poor weather conditions or delays, your flight shouldn’t take longer than an hour and 10 minutes – regardless of whether you fly to SNA or LGB.

A bus from Las Vegas to Disneyland will cost you around $45.

From Las Vegas, you need to first get a Greyhound USA bus to Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) and then, from there, to Disneyland Main Transportation Centre.

When flying to Anaheim from Las Vegas, the airport you fly from is Las Vegas Airport (LAS).

The Amtrak train line can take you between Las Vegas and Anaheim. However, this service has been dramatically reduced over the years, and there is currently only one train running between the two cities per day.

Getting from Las Vegas to Disneyland can either be a complex or straightforward journey. The most hassle-free and affordable means would be to drive along Interstate 15 for around 5 hours. Driving is the best option if you want to get there as soon as the park gates open!

However, getting a plane would be far faster, although more affordable.

Alternatively, you could get a bus, which would take you 6.5 hours, or a train, which would take you over 12 hours.

The tour itself was really great, i just had a couple of issues, first the bathroom on the bus was for emergencies only,so we had to wait for breaks, also i really wish if admissions were included in the tour price. But other than that, we really had a great time, we loved all places we saw and the tour was very well organized. Hotels were really good and the tour guide was real nice guy. We really loved Universal Studios, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon South Rim, San Diego Tour, Yosemite National Park.

I planned this trip for my kids who were crazy to visit Disneyland Park and Universal Studios particularly. The fun of Disney Park and its fantasy was not only enjoyed by my kids but also by me. What a memorable experience that was. Kids enjoyed the rides of Universal Studios a lot and I captured their moment in my camera. I must say that my tour guide supported and guided a lot in all the places that's why we enjoyed a lot. Bus services were really on time and well managed. Thanks

The best tour i had in many years. Great service and hospitality, tour guide is an amazing person, really helpful and friendly. The Complimentary Airport pick up and drop off service was really helpful to us. We really enjoyed Los Angeles, Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theatre, the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Yosemite National Park, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Disneyland Park, and Universal Studios. I just wish if Mandatory Fee was a bit cheaper, but the tour was really worth it.

I am really thankful to one friend of mine who recommended Golden Bus Tours to me. It is really an amazing company, their services are wonderful and their customer service team are very helpful and patient. Also the organization of the tour was really great. we moved exactly on time according to the schedule that was given to us by the tour guide, who was a really nice and helpful guy. Great job Golden Bus Tours.

I have always wanted to visit Yosemite National Park, i use to read about it only, but this was my first time to actually go there, and i never knew it was this beautiful, it was really amazing park, we also really loved San Diego Tour, Sea World, Balboa Park, Universal Studios, Grand Canyon West Rim. The tour guide was a real nice guy and the accommodation was also amazing, really clean and comfortable hotels. We were really happy about the great service and hospitality of Golden Bus Tours.

Lovely places an incredible variety of food was the beauty of this trip for me. I experienced this trip with my best friend and had great fun. It was not only one place where we enjoyed the most but almost all places were incredibly beautiful. Grand Canyon was a lovely place, we visited west rim and it was our best decision. We spent more time there and enjoy the helicopter ride. It was a lifetime experience. We enjoyed the fantasy world of Disney Park, sea world, the Chinese Theatre and the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Shopping and food was enjoyed a lot as well. I found our bus service was a bit late sometimes; but tour guidance was good.

Carmen Sager

I took this tour along my wife and child. The visit is great and the guide is in all respects friendly. I found that it is an incentive for your cash. Superb system. Value your game plans, everything was all together. I I strongly recommend this visit, it will give you a thorough image of a huge piece of West Coast. Time in Yellowstone and Grand Teton is sufficiently very to get to know this delightful spot, in spite of the fact that you will need to return to this spot in future.

Spencer Yang

Awesome cost for every one of the spots we visited. It's a quick paced visit however certainly justified regardless of the cost for a learner who needed to get a look at every goal. Guide is very knowledgeable and he took us to all spots where we can get the best pictures. The Bus driver who was capable drive such long distance. I have 2 kids with me that are under 10 and 2 seniors and we all delighted in the visit tremendously. Highly recommended and and look forward for another visit soon.

Had an incredible Tour. A lot to see and every day got better. The highlight for us was The Universal Studio, Yellowstone Park and Disneyland Tour. Tour Guide, was pleasant, agreeable, clever, proficient, extremely sorted out and effective. Our bus driver, was additionally hilarious and drove all around cautiously and safely. The Guide took care of the entire mentor. I highly recommend this trip to everybody, youthful and old. Discount Disneyland tickets for as little as $50 a day available all summer

Disneyland has dropped ticket prices to as little as $50 a day for the entire summer stretching from the springtime Pixar Fest to Halloween Time in the fall.

“Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” will return with some all-new scenes t ...

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Disneyland has dropped ticket prices to as little as $50 a day for the entire summer stretching from the springtime Pixar Fest to Halloween Time in the fall with multi-day ticket offers that can serve as mini annual passes for those not willing to splurge on an expensive Magic Key pass.

The 2024 Disneyland summer ticket offer is good for three-day, one-park tickets for visits between June 10 through Sept. 26.

Tickets go on sale May 29 and sales may be paused or stopped at any time.

The three-day, one-park per day tickets start at $149 for children and $249 for adults for admission Monday through Thursdays. That works out to just under $50 per day for kids and $83 a day for adults.

You can also get weekend three-day, one-park tickets good on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for $199 for kids and $299 for adults. That’s $67 a day for children and $100 for adults.

All the tickets can be upgraded with the parkhopper option or Disney Genie+ line-skipping service.

By comparison, a one-day/one-park ticket costs $104 to $194 while a parkhopper ticket that gets you into both parks on a single day will set you back $169 to $259. The Genie+ line-cutting service typically costs $30 per day.

The three-day tickets don’t have to be used on consecutive dates. Advance reservations are required for each visit. Disneyland warns that reservations are not guaranteed and could be difficult to get as the ticket expiration date approaches.

The ticket deal stretches throughout the summer and includes Pixar Fest (which runs through Aug. 4), the “Fantasmic” nighttime spectacular (returning May 24) and Halloween Time (starting Aug. 23).

Disneyland is also offering 20% discounts on single night weekday stays at the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel (but not the recently refurbished Pixar Place Hotel) and 25% discounts on stays of four nights or longer.

The hotel discounts are available June 10 through Sept. 26 and can be reserved starting May 29. The deals are not available on some suites and villas.

Disney $1.9bn plan to expand Southern California Disneyland theme parks approved by Anaheim

Visitors pass through Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., on April 30, 2021.

Disney has received a key approval to expand its Southern California theme parks in its first push to make major changes to its iconic Disneyland in decades.

The Anaheim City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the plan to transform Disney’s 490-acre (488-hectare) campus in densely-populated Southern California by moving parking to a multi-story structure and redeveloping a massive lot with new entertainment and rides. It was a second, required vote for the plan after the council gave initial approval last month. The approved zoning changes and ordinances require another 30 days for changes to take effect.

The proposal doesn’t expand the parks’ physical footprint but will help Disney create new, immersive experiences for visitors by building a land such as the snow-covered hamlet of Arendelle from “Frozen” or the critter-filled metropolis of “Zootopia.” It requires Disney to invest at least $1.9 billion in the project over the next decade and spend tens of millions of dollars on street improvements, affordable housing and other infrastructure in the city of 345,000 people.

It’s the first time Disney has sought a major change to its California theme parks since the 1990s, when the company obtained approvals to turn Disneyland, its original theme park dubbed “the happiest place on Earth” and built in 1955, into a resort hub. It later built the Disney California Adventure theme park and the Downtown Disney shopping and entertainment area in the city 30 miles (48 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles.

Disneyland was the  second-most visited  theme park in the world in 2022 with 16.8 million people coming through the gates, according to a report by the Themed Entertainment Association and AECOM .
