Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that this fishing game is rated "Everyone" by the ESRB but it does contain some mild swearing. Kids will hear the main character and some of the people he'll interact with utter the occasional phrase such as "I'll kick your butt" or "Damn, you're a good angler." That said, the game is playing online so be aware conversations in a chat window might be more graphic than this. Common Sense Media does not recommend letting children play online before the age of 12.

What’s It About?

Nintendo Wii owners itching to become outdoor sportsman -- virtually speaking, that is -- can do so with Hudson Entertainment's FISHING MASTER WORLD TOUR. Billed as the first global fishing game for the Wii, up to four players, represented by cartoon avatars, can compete online in virtual tournaments. The goal is to catch the biggest fish in about 40 unique locations, such as the Amazon, Easter Island, Hawaii, and even under the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco.

Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers, players can cast off from a shoreline or while trolling on a boat, and attempt to hook a fighting fish and reel it in without the line breaking. The built-in rumbling technology in the Wii Remote adds to the experience. Gamers can catch more than 200 different kinds of fish, spread throughout the seven regions around the world. If you want to see your top catches or show them off to friends, open the Fish Journals menu. Here you can also read descriptions about the different types of fish in the game, view earned trophies, and peruse optional quests to catch certain types of rare fish. Points awarded for big catches can be used in the shop to buy new rods and bait.

Is It Any Good?

Along with the online play, Fishing Master World Tour also lets gamers compete in head-to-head modes in front of the same television. Good thing this is an option because on its own, this game isn't too exciting. That is, half the fun of fishing is showing off your catch, so playing solo can be a bit of a bore though unlocking new venues can be thrilling. The competition component also adds to the fun, so if you're going to pick up this arcade fishing game, make sure you're casting off with a friend, be it over the Internet or beside you on the same Wii.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

Families can talk about how the Wii's motion-sensing controls can be used to simulate many outdoor sporting and leisure activities, such as hunting, fishing, golf, and tennis. Kids and their parents can talk about how this game makers players feel like they're holding a real rod with vibrating effects and movement that mirrors the real deal (such as trying to reel a fighting fish into the boat). Are these Wii games therefore more realistic compared to Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 games or do Microsoft and Sony's consoles, with their more impressive graphics than the Wii, make up for it in that respect?

The new FISHING MASTER WORLD TOUR offers over 200 different types of fish to catch and enables players to catch fish in their native waters around the world in the first ever global fishing game on the Wii. Players now have over forty different locations to fish from in seven different regions. Fish on Easter Island, under the Golden Gate Bridge, on the Amazon River and many more exotic global locations.

"FISHING MASTER set the standard for realistic fishing fun, and FISHING MASTER WORLD TOUR really takes the gameplay to the next level," said Dai Kudo, head of the console division at Hudson Entertainment. "Featuring a global fishing environment, over 200 different types of fish to catch, more realistic controls, wi-fi laddering and addictive multiplayer battle modes, FISHING MASTER WORLD TOUR will provide countless hours of fun for the entire family."

Staying true to the first version's realistic controls, players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk,to battle fish as you would in real life. Pull the Wii Remote left and right as the fish fights you from the end of the line and adjust your drag to avoid breaking your line. Once you have your skills down, take on some friends with four person multiplayer modes.

Additional new features in FISHING MASTER WORLD TOUR include 'Boss Battles' where players can catch rare fish with exclusive boss battle controls. A 'Trolling' mode has also been added to allow players to fish off the coast in places like Hawaii on the back of fishing boats. Who will be the first to hook the Big One? Other significant enhancements to the sequel are the multiplayer modes. Wi-Fi Laddering lets players compete online against other Fishing Masters over who will catch the biggest fish in various worldwide locations. Players will also enjoy new local Multiplayer Battle Modes which enable them to play against their friends and family members in all new different battle modes.

I'm really enjoying the game, but I seem to be stuck. Although I've found all the fish in Japan and most in North America, including winning several tournaments, the game hasn't advanced to any new locations. I'm stuck fishing in North America for the few fish I haven't found yet. How do I move along?

And if you’re a Floridian planning a summer fishing trip, look no further than home, sweet home.

Fishingbooker, an online platform for booking fishing guides, just released its annual report on the best fishing guides in the country and Florida had the tenth largest share of high-rated fishing guides in the country. “Every April since 2015, FishingBooker, the world's largest platform connecting anglers and fishing guides, announces its yearly Angler's Choice Awards,” FishingBooker’s press release said.

“This exclusive recognition acknowledges charter operators for their exceptional customer service, reliability, and quality of fishing trips.”

Here’s where Florida ranked on FishingBooker’s best states for fishing in 2024 and which south Florida fishing guides were recognized.

Which U.S. state has the best fishing?

“When looking at the performance of all U.S. states, Florida came in as the tenth state, by highest share of Angler's Choice Award winning captains.”

Here’s FishingBooker’s list of the top fishing guides in Palm Beach County:

My name is Julia and I work as a guide last 4 years, but before together with my friends we founded Foodbank in Russia.It was really nice experience to help all [sensitive content] w i still take part in not commercial events.And sometimes my tourists call me “mom” maybe because I am too worried about everything and I like to take care about everybody.So if you have small kids or you can't walk a lot – everything works perfect with me, I am very flexible person.

 I live in truly soviet appartment and love cooking, and if you want you can be my guest and I can cook for you, that will give you a deeper idea of Russian local life, than just Red Square and places around;)

Also i am a writer and dream to finish my book one day.Love travelling especially around Russia because this counrty is really the biggest in the world, and i changed locations many times, from Siberia to Saint Petersburg. I was born in one the coldest places in Russia and once I felt minus 69, it was extremely not pleasant.Here in Moscow the weather is humid, so winters are also quite cold, but as this is my favorite time of the year I can make the best impressions for you in “non-tourist” season.

I love English language and you know, when I was 12 years old I was the worst in my class, but then we got another teacher and she made something with me that I couldn't stop any more.When I finished my school I already had a certification from Cambridge university with level Advanced.And as my another passion is history, one day I realized that I need to be come a tour guide, and it was the best decision of my life:)

Fun facts about me:

- I was a ballet dancer for 8 years (and hated classic music with all my heart, but now I am in love with opera);

- I love basketball and in school I was playing in the best team of my town (also swimming and climbing, I was really crazy kid);

- I am in love with pastry and this is can easy see on me :D

- I changed 15 apartments in my life and non of them had a good oven!

- I love running and walking a lot, once I walked 48 km and it was my absolute record!

Can't wait to see you here and show you around

!Best wishes,Julia
