Nestled in the heart of the Loire valley, a region of France well known for its many historic châteaux, the town of Tours has kept many vestiges of its medieval past. Here’s a guide to the best things to do in Tours , as well as what to know before you go.

What is Tours known for?

Tours is a city located in the Loire Valley region of central France, known for its rich history, architecture, and cultural attractions. Among them are the Château de Tours and the Cathedral of Saint Gatien.

The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tours is another notable attraction, featuring a collection of over 12,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts.

The city also boasts the picturesque Place Plumereau, a popular spot for dining and socialising surrounded by medieval half-timbered buildings, and Les Halles de Tours, a bustling indoor market.

Tours is also known as the gateway to the Loire Valley, home to numerous historic châteaux, including Château de Chenonceau, Château de Chambord , and Château de Villandry, making it a popular destination for history, culture, and food enthusiasts. Things to do in Tours

Truth be told, one of the best things to do in Tours is to stroll around the old town, which is characterised by its little lanes and timber-framed architecture.

Old Tours makes up the streets surrounding Place Plumereau. Largely pedestrianised, the little cobbled lanes are perfect for snapping stunning medieval-esque photos.

Widely regarded to be one of the most beautiful cathedrals in France , Tours Cathedral is officially known as Cathédrale Saint-Gatien and was constructed between the 12th and 16th-centuries.

Today, highlights of the Gothic ecclesiastical building include original 13th-century stained glass windows and several ornate stone-carved tombs of the children of Anne of Brittany.

As is the case with many medieval towns, Tours boasts its own Château with roots dating back to the Middle Ages. The Château de Tours was constructed in the 11th-century and was once home to the  Lords of France. Today, the castle can be visited for a small fee.

Those who wish to enjoy some of the finest paintings held in the Loire Valley need to look no further than the Museum of Fine Arts. Highlights of the art museum, which is set against the backdrop of the bishop’s former palace, include fine Italian paintings and two paintings by Andrea Mantegna.

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Tours is the park of Prébendes d’Oé, which is a beautiful green space that is centred around a central lake teeming with ducks. When the weather is warm, it’s a great spot to people watch and sit on a bench in the sunshine.

If you happen to be visiting Tours in the summertime, then one of the best places to soak up some summer sunshine is at Guinguette Tours (official name Guinguette de Tours sur Loire), which is an open-air terrace along the banks of the River Loire from the late Spring to early Autumn.

It may surprise many, but Tours is actually a fantastic place to enjoy gorgeous cherry blossoms during the springtime. The best places to enjoy cherry blossom in Tours is along rue Constantine, on the adjacent rue du commerce, and around the train station.

Please note that the pink cherry blossom around the train station is slightly later blooming than that in the centre of town, which tends to bloom in the last couple of weeks of March. If you visit during the last week of March then you will be sure to see at least a few trees in bloom!

One of the more unusual shopping experiences to have in Tours is to head to the wizarding store along  Rue du Commerce. Head in at any given moment and you’ll soon find a wide selection of magical collectibles and clothing inspired by the Harry Potter series.

Set against the backdrop of a former abbey dedicated to Saint-Julien, yet another museum in Tours which is worth checking out is the Musée du Compagnonnage, which is all about trade-guild history.

One of the most famous rivers in France is the Loire, and this is what gives the area its name. As well as being the 171st longest river in the world, the Loire is the longest river in France and the 3rd longest in Europe.

One of the most gentle and relaxing ways to get a different view of the Loire Valley is by taking a boat ride along the River Loire. One agency that proposes tours down the river in a flat-bottomed wooden river boat is the Boutavant Association. Find more details here.

If you’re looking for a unique hidden gem of Tours that’s a little off the beaten path, then you can head to the flood level marker that lies along the banks of the River Loire. The marker details all recent flooding levels, as well as more historic ones.

The very beating heart of Tours is Place Plumereau, which is a big open square with sprawling cafés, restaurants, and eateries. While the brasseries on the square are not of the best quality, it’s one of the best spots in the city to grab a drink and people watch when the sun is shining.

One of the more historic buildings you’ll see when wandering around town is the Charlemagne Tower. This is known as the tower of Charles the Great in English and is now all that remains of the original Basilica of St. Martin of Tours. Local legend suggests that it was in this basilica or close by that Charlemagne interred his wife.

Known as the Tour de l’Horloge in French, the clock tower is situated in the vieux-ville portion of Tours and dates back to the 11th-century, though much of what you see today was added in the 16th-century.

Tours Cathedral is not the only important ecclesiastical building in Tours. There is also the Basilica of Saint Martin (known as the Basilique Saint Martin in French) which was constructed to replace an earlier one of which the Charlemagne Tower is the only remaining remnant. Today, a visit to the interior of Basilica is free and open every day of the week.

Tours is the gateway city to the Loire Valley, making it a great place to base yourself from which to explore the wider region. One of the most delightful towns near Tours is Amboise, which is where there’s a wonderful château and medieval town.

Of course, history buffs will be well aware that the Loire Valley is best-known for its amazing Châteaux. Some of the most famous Châteaux in the region are Château de Chambord and Château de Chenonceau.

Where to eat

Planked by the rivers Cher and Loire, Tours is the largest city in the French region of Centre-Val de Loire. It offers sights and activities you cannot (and should not) say no to.

If you’re visiting Tours, you simply can’t not be awed by the famous Loire Valley chateaux found in this city – Château de Tours, Château de La Branchoire, Château de Beaulieu, and Château de la Crouzillière, to name a few. 

These beautiful old chateaux should get you started. 

Dubbed the “Garden of France,” Tours is home to numerous parks located within the city. 

The Botanical Garden, which dates to the mid-19th century, is a nice place to visit especially if you have children. There are also some animals in the gardens which make it more interesting.

Jardins des Prébendes d’Oé, with its lake, big sequoia trees, a number of quiet spots to sit and rest, and a nice little café by the main gates, is a delightful park hidden away in the city. It’s worth finding it.

Parc Honoré de Balzac, named after the famous French author – Tours’ very own – is on a man-made island. It has a play area, an animal park, and a river if you want to practice canoeing. 

These are but a few of numerous parks and gardens that make Tours quite the “Garden of France.”

A must-visit when in Tours, Cathédrale Saint Gatien de Tours, also known as Tours Cathedral, is a magnificent building that’s beautiful inside and out. 

Hands down the best church in Tours, it was constructed in stages from 1170 to 1547, between the Gothic and Renaissance styles. It’s definitely one of the best you’ll ever see.

The garden next door also provides the perfect view of the church towers.

Place Plumereau is the heart of Old Tours. 

Situated in the center of the old quarters of the city, Place Plumereau’s main feature is the 15th-century half-timbered houses that make it such a perfect place to enjoy the medieval and local atmosphere.

The square is brimming with restaurants and cafés so you can admire the beautiful Romanesque and Renaissance façades while you sip your latte.

Musée du Compagnonnage is a small museum that showcases intricate crafts and exhibits so you can have a glimpse into how the trades developed in France. 

This is a must-see museum if you want to visit the past and pay tribute to forgotten craftsman and artisans who made masterpieces with their brains and bare hands. 

The trades museum is right at the end of the main shopping street so it’s very accessible.

A lovely church built over the tomb of St. Martin of Tours, Basilique Saint Martin has a very long history. 

The site itself dates back to the 5th century, when the first church was built. It was completely destroyed during the French Revolution in 1793. The present church was constructed between 1886 and 1924 in a neo-Byzantine style.

It is an interesting place to visit, a definite stop whether you’re a Catholic or not. A visit to the crypt downstairs is unmissable. Go see for yourself!

Pont Wilson was built between 1765 and 1778, making it the oldest bridge in Tours. This historical monument is named in honor of Woodrow Wilson, 28th president of the United States and an ally of France during the First World War.

Pont Wilson was destroyed by a terrible flood but has been restored to its original state since. You can tell from the high water marks just how severe the floods were in the past centuries.

A stroll across this famous bridge provides some excellent views of the city skyline on either sides, as well as the charming riverside cafés. 

… and while you’re there, go and check out the museum’s impressive collection of eclectic art! 

Also, say hi to the stuffed elephant in front of the museum.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Tours houses over 12,000 works – however, only a thousand are on public show. Still a good number, though.

The giant cedar of Lebanon, the stuffed elephant, and those fine artworks inside are all masterpieces surely not to be missed when in Tours.

If you’re like me who neither has the time nor the inclination to go on a trip to the local market, well, this is your chance for a market experience while on a holiday!

There is a large flower market in the streets of Tours twice a week – Wednesdays and Saturdays. 

A market that smells heavenly; what more can you ask for? Here they sell not just flowers but craft items as well, so you can also get some souvenirs while you shop for tulips and sunflowers.

And of course, photos are compulsory with all the colorful blooms around.

10. Sample the world-famous Loire Valley wines in Tours

If you love fine wine , Tours is your piece of heaven on earth. The number of AOCs (“appellation d’origine contrôlée”/”controlled designation of origin”) in and around Tours is simply insane! 

The Loire Valley wine region is known for producing dry, white wines, as well as tannin-rich red wines.

So a trip to the Loire Valley without tasting its wines is committing a sin and definitely unheard of. So oenophile or not, go have a sip or two (or twenty-two) of Chenin Blanc!

2024 Faroe Islands Photo Tour

Hidden gem of the north atlantic.

Join us for a Faroe Islands photo tour to capture some of the most breathtaking and dramatic landscapes in the North Atlantic Ocean. These islands boast some of the most majestic cliffs, imposing sea stacks, epic fjords, photogenic waterfalls, and raw beauty in the entire world. The Faroe Islands looks like it was pulled out of a fantasy book.

We are running this Faroe Islands photography trip from June 16 th to June 22 nd, 2024. During this time of year, the waterfalls will be flowing, and golden hour lasts forever!

Our Faroe Islands photo tour will focus on capturing the most iconic landscapes on the Faroes’ main islands. During this time of the year, we’ll have most of the locations to ourselves as it won’t be peak tourist season yet.

Over 7 days , we will visit the most photogenic locations in the Faroes, including  Gásadalur, Drangarnir, and Trælanípa , the “slave cliff”; we’ll also visit  lesser-known locations  we’ve prepared for this workshop, such as  Sornfelli, the Hvíthamar viewpoint ,   and the  village of Norðradalur . We will visit different viewpoints throughout the trip and our main goal will be to capture the locations in the  best possible light .

We will personally help you capture the best possible images during our Faroe Islands photography workshop and show you the best techniques to shoot any subject in different light conditions: sunrise, sunset, midday, overcast, etc.

2024 Faroe Islands Photo Tour Itinerary

The itinerary of our  Faroe Islands photo tour  is flexible. The weather on the Faroes is very dynamic and it’s possible to experience all four seasons within a few hours, which offers endless possibilities for capturing different types of images. We will experience moments with beautiful golden light around sunrise and sunset, but we will also enjoy more  dramatic lighting conditions with storms, clouds, or fog. The same location can look completely different in a matter of minutes.

We know the Faroe Islands very well , so our goal is to photograph the locations in the best possible conditions, depending on the weather forecast.

DAY 1: Faroe Islands Photo Tour

This Faroe Islands photo tour will begin at  Vágar Airport , where we’ll pick you up during the morning and meet up with the rest of the group. From the airport, we’ll drive about an hour to our accommodation, where we’ll have a general orientation. After that, we’ll head to our first location, Fossá ,  the tallest waterfall in the Faroe Islands . Here, we’ll use wide-angle lenses to capture the immensity of this waterfall.

After the first location, we’ll move on to our first sunset shoot at  Nor ð radalur , where we’ll see the island of Koltur in the distance. This location is mostly famous for the winding road that leads visually to the island, but there are also some streams of water that can be used to frame different compositions.

Once the light is gone, we’ll head back to our accommodation to prepare for the next day.

DAY 2:  Faroe Islands Photo Tour

On the second day of our  Faroe Islands photography tour , we’ll wake up early to capture the  sunrise at Trøllkonufingur , or the “witch’s finger.” Legend has it that this is the actual finger of a giant witch who tried to destroy the Faroe Islands. We’ll park very close to the viewpoint, and after a  short 15-minute hike , we’ll be able to see this massive sea stack. During our session, we’ll see the sun rising behind its slender shape, which is absolutely magical.

After breakfast, we’ll drive to the little town of  Bour , where we’ll get a first glimpse of the islet of  Tindhólmur  and the massive  Drangarnir  sea stacks, behind some traditional  turf-covered houses.

Finally, to end our second day, we’ll visit the little town of  Gásadalur . This town encapsulates what the Faroe Islands is all about: rugged landscapes full of dramatic cliffs, mountains, and a photogenic waterfall ( Mulafossur ) in the middle. We will photograph this  Game of Thrones -like location in different lighting until sunset.

DAY 3: Faroe Islands Photo Tour

On our third day, we’ll take a ferry to visit one of the most well-preserved areas in the Faroe Islands: the island of Mykines . Mykines is known for being the nesting area for puffins , one of the cutest and most fascinating birds in the North Atlantic. Puffins come here to mate and lay eggs from late spring throughout the summer and they can be seen on the north face of Mykines. After lunch, we’ll take the ferry from Mykines back to Sørvágur.

Our final location for the day will be the magnificent viewpoint of  Sornfelli , where we’ll be able to see the island of  Vágar  as well as the “witch’s finger” from the other side.

DAY 4: Faroe Islands Photo Tour

On the fourth day of our  Faroe Islands photo trip , we’ll wake up early to catch the sunrise at one of the most impressive viewpoints in the entire Faroe Islands:  Hvíthamar . After a short 30-minute hike, we’ll arrive at our photography spot. This natural viewpoint overlooks the little town of  Funningur  and the  imposing Funningsfjør ð ur fjord . After this shoot, we can hike up the ridgeline to a higher point of view, where we’ll enjoy breathtaking views.

After breakfast, we’ll visit the town of  Gjógv,  which is known for its naturally formed gorge. There, we will have the chance to get closer to the sea and capture some coastal scenes. Also, after a quick 20-minute walk, we’ll arrive at a viewpoint, where we’ll see views of the town surrounded by mountains.

After lunch, we’ll take a boat to visit what will probably be the highlight of our trip: Drangarnir and Tindhólmur . This is one of the most  famous locations in the Faroe Islands  but getting there is not an easy feat. The hike is long and not meant for the faint-hearted. For this reason, we’ve booked a boat, which will allow us to avoid a strenuous hike and focus on enjoying the spectacular views.

First, we’ll go around the sea stacks and the islet and visit some caves hidden under the cliffs. Then, we’ll spend plenty of time photographing the sunset from different spots before heading back to our accommodation.

DAY 5: Faroe Islands Photo Tour

On the next day of our  Faroe Islands photo adventure , we’ll visit the town of  Tjørnuvik . Here, we will enjoy a calm and relaxing photography session, photographing Risin and Kellingin, two prominent sea stacks off the northern coast called “The Giant and The Witch.” We’ll show you the best techniques to shoot them and tell you about the fascinating legend behind them.

After Tjørnuvik, we’ll visit  Saksun , a tiny village on the island of  Streymoy . This is one of the oldest villages in the Faroes and it’s located on the shore of a marine lagoon that fills up twice a day from the movement of the tides.

Later, we’ll leave Saksun to visit the most impressive shoreline in the Faroes:  Trælanípa , the “slave cliff.” We’ll spend the afternoon here while we wait for sunset. There are plenty of possibilities for compositions nearby:  Bøsdalafossur  waterfall, the gigantic sea stack called  Geituskorardrangur ,  Trælanípa , and Sørvágsvatn lake. This lake is the biggest and most iconic lake in the Faroes. It’s also known as “the illusion-causing lake,” since it looks like it’s hanging over the ocean.

After sunset, we’ll drive back to our hotel to get ready for the next day of our Faroe Islands photo tour .

DAY 6: Faroe Islands Photo Tour

On the 6 th  day of our  Faroe Islands photography tour , we’ll drive about an hour north to  Klaksvík , the second-largest city in the Faroe Islands, to take the ferry to the island of  Kalsoy , which has a population of just 80 people. Here, we’ll visit the tiny village of  Trøllanes , where we’ll have majestic views of the islands of  Kunoy and Vi ð oy .

At 3 PM, we’ll catch the ferry back to Klaksvík and drive to the base of  Klakkur , from which we have a steep, 1-hour hike to the most spectacular viewpoint in the Faroe Islands. This is the best sunset view in the entire archipelago. From the viewpoint, we’ll be able to see the islands of Eysturoy, Kalsoy, Kunoy, and Bor ð oy surrounded by the  North Atlantic Ocean .

After enjoying the sunset at this incredible viewpoint, we’ll head back to our accommodation to pack up and prepare for our last sunrise.

DAY 7: Faroe Islands Photo Tour

On our last morning of our  Faroe Islands photo tour,  we’ll drive up to a nearby viewpoint to photograph the  Kalbaksbotnur fjord  and wrap up our Faroe Islands adventure.

After breakfast, we’ll head to the airport no later than 11PM to catch flights departing from 1PM onwards.

A $1,500 USD deposit is required to reserve your spot for this workshop. You can also pay in full at any time. The remaining balance is due 120 days before the start of the tour. If the remaining balance is not paid in full by the due date, you will lose your spot.

Prince Berkoh will be the  tour leader throughout this Faroe Islands photography workshop, and he will make sure that you get the best photography results and experience out of this tour. He will help you with your photography, technique, and composition in all your landscape images.

The Faroe Islands is one of Prince’s favorite locations to photograph since this is where he fell in love with landscape photography. He has returned on multiple occasions to get to know the country better from both a photographic and cultural perspective and he’ll use the knowledge he’s gained to show you the best photography locations, and the legends behind them.

Prince loves teaching others about photography and has led numerous workshops and presentations on night photography over the years.

Prince will show you how to best capture the Faroe Islands landscapes, from the basics to advanced techniques like bracketing, focus stacking, and panoramas.

Francesco Dall’Olmo will be the co-leader on this Faroe Islands photo tour, and he’ll assist you with all your photography needs.

Francesco is a landscape and night photographer. Additionally, he is a professional time-lapse photographer. He’s been honing his photography skills over the years in his backyard: the Italian Dolomites, which he knows like no other.

He has traveled all over the world, capturing breathtaking images in Atacama, Patagonia, and all over Europe. He has also helped multiple photographers improve their skills in various photography workshops.

What to bring on a Faroe Islands Photo Tour

We will send you a complete list of everything we recommend bringing on this tour when you sign up. Below is a summary of things you might need:

PHOTOGRAPHY GEAR

• DSLR/mirrorless camera and a sturdy tripod.
• A wide-angle lens , such as a 14-24 mm lens.
• A medium zoom lens , such as a 24-70 mm lens.
• A telephoto lens , like a 100-400 mm lens.
• A camera bag to transport all your equipment.
• A 6-stop ND filter to shoot waterfalls and seascapes.
• A CPL (circular polarizer filter) to shoot waterfalls and seascapes.
• A rain cover for the camera.

The average temperature in the Faroe Islands in June is 52ºF (11ºC), but in the mornings, it can drop below 45ºF (7ºC). You should come prepared for all kinds of weather, but definitely bring warm clothing  and a rain jacket . Rain and storms are very common in the Faroe Islands. Some of the things we recommend bringing on this Faroe Islands photography tour are:

• A system of layers to wear (base layer, fleece, windproof layer, shell)
• A pair of trusty, warm, and waterproof hiking boots with good grip to prevent you from slipping on muddy terrain and keep your feet safe.
• A wool hat, a neck gaiter, and gloves.

The currency in the Faroe Islands is the Danish Krone (DKK) . We recommend purchasing DKK in your home country. If that isn’t possible, you can always purchase some at the Vágar Airport.

Credit and debit cards are an accepted method of payment in almost 100% of the places in the Faroe Islands, so you likely won’t need much cash during the trip.

DOCUMENTATION

Please check if you need a visa to visit the Faroe Islands. The Faroe Islands is a self-governing country that’s part of the Kingdom of Denmark; however, it does not belong to the European Union. We can help you with this process.

ACCOMMODATION

The accommodation on this Faroe Islands photo tour is double occupancy in a shared bedroom with two individual beds and a private bathroom .

There is an option to stay in single rooms for an additional $600 USD on this trip. Confirm your need for a single room as soon as possible so we can make the arrangements.

What expenses should you consider for this Faroe Islands photo tour?

You should book your flight to Vágar Airport (FAE) .

The price of round-trip flights to the Faroe Islands from Europe is $300-$400, and from the US, it’s approximately $400-$600.

The Faroe Islands is still a remote place to visit and only two airlines fly there: Atlantic Airways and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) . We personally recommend flying with Atlantic Airways whenever possible. SAS is known to be less reliable in bad weather and might cancel a flight at the last minute.

You can take a direct flight to the Faroe Islands from a variety of destinations, such as Copenhagen (Denmark), Paris (France), Reykjavik (Iceland), Edinburgh (Scotland), Oslo (Norway), and Bergen (Norway). There are also seasonal flights from places like Barcelona, the Canary Islands, and Mallorca.

If you can find a good flight deal to one of those cities, the flight over to the Faroes will usually only set you back about $120.

Meals are not included, except for breakfast at our hotel. Most days, we will have breakfast at a cafe near our photography location, then, during the day, we’ll have snacks and picnic food to maximize our time for photography. At night, we’ll enjoy a nice dinner at local restaurants.

We recommend preparing to spend about $40-$70 USD on food per day.

HIKING, FERRIES AND TOLLS

All the land in the Faroe Islands is privately owned ; therefore, the most popular spots require entry fees. All the hiking, ferry, photography location, undersea tunnels, and transportation fees are included in the tour’s price.

During this photo tour to the Faroe Islands, we’ll be hiking to reach some photo locations. Most of the hikes aren’t considerably strenuous; however, the weather conditions such as rain or wind can add a layer of difficulty. We recommend being in good physical shape to be able to enjoy this experience.

*For Drangarnir, we’ve booked a private boat; however, sea conditions will determine how close we can get to the final location.

WHAT PHYSICAL SHAPE DO I NEED TO BE IN?

Most locations are a relatively short walk from the parking lot. The toughest hike we will do will be in  Klaksvík , walking up to the Klakkur viewpoint. It’s a steep half-an-hour hike.

The longest hike we will do is the one to  Trælanípa , which is one hour in each direction, but the terrain is mostly flat.

Most of our hikes have little elevation gain, and the ones that are steeper are very short. It’s important to bring proper footwear. You’ll need hiking boots to do some of the hikes.

We will be driving, walking, and taking a lot of photographs during the tour, so  we recommend being in good physical shape  to be able to enjoy this experience.

AM I TOO YOUNG/OLD FOR THIS FAROE ISLANDS PHOTO TOUR?

There is no age limit. This trip is perfect for anyone  over 18 years old who wants to photograph the Faroe Islands with us.

CAN MY NON-PHOTOGRAPHER COMPANION JOIN US ON THE TOUR?

Non-photographer companions are welcome to join the tour, and they need to book a spot under the same price and conditions as any other participant. (We don’t allow non-participant companions tagging along with the group). We have had plenty of non-photographer companions over the years and all of them enjoyed an amazing experience. As long as they enjoy nature, beautiful landscapes, and are a bit patient with the schedules of a photo tour, joining the trip can be a great experience regardless of the shooting.

CAN I USE MY DRONE?

Capture the Atlas is  drone-friendly . Both Prince and David are experienced drone pilots and can help you with your drone photography.

We will advise you on the areas where you are allowed to fly and show you the best aerial photography techniques. The Faroe Islands is a paradise for flying drones and we highly recommend bringing your drone if you like aerial photography.

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. Each garden on the tour will offer visitors a unique and inspiring experience, showcasing a variety of plants, flowers, and landscaping designs. The tour is not only an opportunity for gardening enthusiasts to gather ideas and inspiration for their own outdoor spaces but also serves as a celebration of the community’s horticultural talent.

Visitors will have the chance to engage with homeowners, learn about their gardening techniques, and gain valuable insights into creating and maintaining beautiful gardens. The event promises to be a delightful experience for all attendees, whether they are seasoned gardeners or simply appreciate the beauty of nature.

The annual Garden Tour and Faire are our main fundraisers.  In 2023 we were able to award more than $3,000 in scholarships to students throughout Yamhill County. Please read more our Horticultural Scholarship Program and encourage any local college-aged students you know who are interested in this area of study to apply.

In addition to our scholarship program, we support various horticultural and beautification projects.  These include maintenance of garden plantings:

The Garden Fair features more than 60 garden- themed vendors and is open to the public at NO CHARGE.  The Faire is from 9 am to 4 pm and is located in Historic Downtown McMinnville (Cowls St. between 1st and 3rd Streets). 

Our vendors include traditional and specialty plant growers.  Due to our earlier date of the Sunday before Father’s Day, they will have more plants available for purchase. 

Other vendors include amazing garden art, wearable art (clothing and jewelry), furniture, art, flowers, and wonderful items for your garden.  To keep our event fresh and exciting, we are constantly on the lookout for new and unique vendors to add to the excitement.
