Hays travel apprentices praised in latest ofsted report.
Hays Travel apprentices have been praised by education regulator Ofsted for being "career-ready" and "active contributors to society".
Between 4 and 7 July, Ofsted inspectors assessed the agency’s apprenticeship programme and judged it to be "good" for overall effectiveness, and "outstanding" for "behaviour and attitudes" and "personal development". Apprentices are recruited into most of Hays Travel’s 420 branches nationally or a department within its headquarters in Sunderland.
They undertake a programme of study while earning a salary and gaining on-the-job experience, achieving a nationally recognised certificate at either level 2 customer service practitioner standard or level 3 travel consultant standard on completion. Dame Irene Hays, chair and owner of Hays Travel, said: "We enjoyed discussing how we develop young people with the Ofsted inspectors. We are thrilled with the result, which recognises the dedication of colleagues throughout the organisation, and of course our hard-working apprentices who embody our Hays Travel values."
Ofsted highlighted Hays Travel’s "very supportive and highly inclusive culture", promoted by leaders and managers across all apprenticeship programmes. Chief operating officer for Hays Travel Jonathon Woodall-Johnston said: "As someone who started my career with Hays Travel as an apprentice, I have firsthand experience of how well we prepare young people on our programme for successful and exciting careers in travel and tourism, it was particularly pleasing that the inspector’s highlighted this in their report."
