Popular comedian Jack Whitehall is coming to Gloucestershire alongside three other huge showbiz names in the coming months.
Appearing in Cheltenham Monday, November 11, the funny man will perform in The Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse . He will be trying out new material for his upcoming arena tour.
Jack is firmly on the road to becoming a global megastar and he has television and movie roles that include Netflix’s Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father, Channel 4’s Meat, the BBC’s Bad Education, as well as films such as The Bad Education Movie, Mother's Day, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, The Queen's Corgi Rex and the upcoming Jungle Cruise.
He won't be the only big name performing in the coming months, with English-born, Italian-raised indie icon Jack Savorretti has announced that he too will be singing in the town.
He will also be hosting a show at The Centaur, but on Thursday, October 31, just under two weeks from the other Jack's stand up show.
The singer-songwriter, likened to Paolo Nutini and James Morrison, has enjoyed critical and commercial success over the last few years, climbing to number one on the album charts with his sixth LP Singing to Strangers earlier this year – which features a song co-written with Bob Dylan.
He will be giving fans the chance to hear brand new music from his latest album 'Singing to Strangers'.
Musical virtuoso Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will be returning to Cheltenham later this year for their autumn/winter tour.
The musician and his band will be appearing once again in at the Racecourse on Saturday, November 9 as part of the 32-date tour.
Accompanying Jools with the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra around the UK will be the Ruby Turner, with her gospel vocals, Louise Marshall, with her soul and jazz tones as well as the powerhouse Gilson Lavis on the drums.
An award-winning comedian and television presenter Rob Beckett is embarking on his biggest headline tour next year and he will be making a stop to the venue on Thursday, November 28 with the Wallop! Tour 2019.
The funnyman, dubbed the Mouth from the South, will be known to millions as the presenter of BBC1’s All Together Now, the voice of Celeb’s Go Dating or for appearances on Live at the Apollo.
His razor-sharp wit and humour has also made him a regular fixture on the likes of Mock the Week, 8 out of 10 Cats, Celebrity Juice, A League of Their Own, Would I Lie to You, and many more.
Lee Moulson, Regional Head of Sales at Cheltenham Racecourse, said: “We have an exciting few months ahead of us with some amazing talent.
“We are thrilled to announce Jack Savoretti and Jack Whitehall to the already excellent line-up of Jools Holland and Rob Beckett who are all ready to entertain.
“We are thrilled to have all the acts on the bill, but keep your eyes peeled for a few more announcements along the way.”

Jack Whitehall: What’s in his family WhatsApp and on his Cheltenham rider
Jack Whitehall heads to Cheltenham in November 2019 for his work in progress performances as part of the Stood Up tour.
Heading to Cheltenham for two work in progress dates to support his new Stood Up tour this November, Jack Whitehall has been hard to miss this year. Following the success of his recent Netflix show Travels With My Father , and appearances in The Nutcracker and The Four Realms , Sky’s Bounty Hunters and _Amazon’s Good Omens , it’s surprising that Jack has time to embark on his biggest ever live tour, this winter.
Why have you decided to tour now?
Well, I felt like there had been enough of a gap since the last tour. I’ve been itching to get back on stage and I had some stories in mind so I did a few small gigs and they went well, and it went from there. It’s very hard to quit stand-up. I feel a very strong pull whenever I’ve had a break from it.
What can we expect from this tour?
As always, I like to have a good intro and a banging ending and some VTs in the middle and really throw everything that I can at the show to make it an amazing experience for everybody. Each tour includes the same elements: a lot of humiliating stories about myself, some jokes, a dodgy impression, and a story about the royal family.
I end with one of the most candid and outrageous stories I’ve ever told. It’s about myself, and someone else, who may or may not be my father. It will also feature my most ambitious finale to date. Each time I do a finale I think, ‘How will I top this?’, and on this occasion I think I have achieved that. It’s just the right level to give my tour manager heart palpitations every night.
The thing about stand-up is you have to go off in between tours and live your life and build up experiences that you can share on stage. But often if you’re working on sets or films, they’re quite hard places to find material that’s relatable or interesting.
But the great thing about this tour is that I’ve spent the last two years with my Dad going off to far-flung places, meeting weird and wonderful people and having quite insane experiences. That’s a great environment for sourcing material.
2px); width:calc(100% 2px);"> View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jack Whitehall (@jackwhitehall) on Feb 22, 2019 at 1:41pm PST
You’ve had to add dates to meet demand, including one here in Cheltenham – how does that feel?
Once I’ve written a tour, I love doing it as many times as I can, so expanding the show is great. I feel I’ve got a show now which is really good and so I want as many people as possible to see it.
What have you got on your rider?
Oh, nothing. It used to be Haribo for years, and I’d turn up at these trendy venues and there’d be packets of Haribo which was very embarrassing. I don’t bother any more but perhaps I should get a little bit like Mariah Carey and start demanding puppies.
Do your family come and watch you?
My dad comes to a few shows, and he’ll be making an appearance at some point, I’m sure. Despite how he comes across on our show, he’s actually very supportive and very game for a laugh. He always threatens to get litigious if I push it too far with my jokes but I think any publicity is good publicity so if he does take me to court for slander, it’ll just be good for the tour. Audiences know him now so that’s really nice. People are already aware of him so that makes the stories even funnier.
My mum will be at some of the shows, I expect, along with everyone she’s ever met because she’s very generous with her invitations. At some gigs half the arena is filled with my mum’s friends.
2px); width:calc(100% 2px);"> View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jack Whitehall (@jackwhitehall) on May 15, 2019 at 6:02am PDT
What’s the latest topic of discussion on your family WhatsApp group?
The last thing we talked about was pictures of Gregg Wallace’s body transformation because we’re a bit obsessed with him. He’s kind of a family hero. We love the way he eats puddings on MasterChef. Before that it was us banning my mum from using the word ‘banter’.
Do you ask their permission to tell stories about the family on your tour or do you just go ahead and say what you like?
There’s always an awkward lunch which happens just before the tour starts and I’ll run through some of the stories. It’s a tense negotiation. But I’ve now developed a system where I go through some really outrageous stories that I have no intention of telling on stage, and they’re the ones my family veto, then I sneak through the ones that I actually want to tell. It’s a very calculated tactic which thus far has worked very well.
2px); width:calc(100% 2px);"> View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jack Whitehall (@jackwhitehall) on Jan 29, 2019 at 10:14am PST
Is your on-stage persona the same as the real you?
I think that’s what I’m like 30 per cent of the time in real life. Obviously, one can’t be like that all the time. But I try to stay pretty true to who I am. I’m a pretty upbeat guy with a sense of fun and mischief.

He most recently starred alongside Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE, and in CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG for Paramount. Both films are currently in development for sequels. He will next star alongside Shailene Woodley in ROBOTS, an independent romantic comedy directed by Academy Award nominee Ant Hines. Jack has also just finished filming the second season of the Apple TV+ hit comedy series, THE AFTERPARTY, opposite Tiffany Haddish, Zoe Chao and Sam Richardson, which will be released in 2023.
Jack’s previous film work has included Lasse Hallstrom’s THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS (playing opposite Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, and Morgan Freeman) for Disney, Garry Marshall’s MOTHER’S DAY (playing opposite Julia Roberts and Jennifer Garner) and THE BAD EDUCATION MOVIE, which he also wrote.
On television, Jack is widely celebrated for his hit Netflix show TRAVELS WITH MY FATHER, which released its fifth season last fall. He has also starred in GOOD OMENS opposite Jon Hamm and Michael Sheen for Amazon and BOUNTY HUNTERS opposite Rosie Perez for Sky Television. His other television credits include: DECLINE & FALL (BBC), FRESH MEAT (C4) and BAD EDUCATION (BBC), which is being reprieved this Christmas with a one off Special followed by a new series with new cast in 2023 that Jack is Executive Producing. Jack also served as writer on a number of these shows.
An acclaimed comedian who loves the stage, Jack’s Netflix special JACK WHITEHALL: I’M ONLY JOKING was released in 2020. His biggest-ever stand-up tour, JACK WHITEHALL: STOOD UP, sold out arenas across the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. Jack has previously sold-out venues across the UK on two earlier tours: JACK WHITEHALL GETS AROUND (2014) and JACK WHITEHALL: AT LARGE (2017), also filmed for Netflix.

It’s hard to dispute that Jack Whitehall is one of the most popular stand-up comics in the UK, blessed with an endearingly goofy and cheeky demeanour that calls to mind the kid at school who even made the teacher laugh. The new tour will be Jack’s third arena tour following 2014’s Jack Whitehall: Gets Around and 2017’s Jack Whitehall: At Large.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be going back out on the road,” enthuses Whitehall. “There’s no feeling like standing up on stage in front of an arena full of strangers, and still being able to hear your dad heckle you.”
Alongside his stand-up career, Jack is also an in-demand actor. The Londoner was most recently seen in Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston’s The Nutcracker And The Four Realms, starring opposite Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman, and in 2020 is set to appear in Disney’s Jungle Cruise opposite Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
Many will have recently enjoyed Jack’s Netflix show Travels With My Father. Now in its third season, the show features Jack and his father Michael touring the globe, clashing over what they want to see and do on their travels, from naked yoga to mildly obscene bingo-calling.
More of Jack’s television credits include Decline & Fall, Fresh Meat, Bad Education, Backchat, A League Of Their Own, Stand Up For The Week and Live At The Apollo.
An established presenter, earlier this year Jack hosted the BRIT Awards for the second time at the 2019 event and has even filled in for the revered Graham Norton on his Friday night chat show.

Jack Whitehall Will Embark On New UK Tour With JACK WHITEHALL: SETTLE DOWN
The tour kicks off on 13 June in Brighton.
Award-winning comedian, actor and writer Jack Whitehall has announced a brand-new tour of the UK with highly anticipated new live show, Jack Whitehall : Settle Down.
Taking in arenas across June and July 2023, including three nights at London's The O2, tickets are available to fans on Jack's mailing list from 10am on Wednesday 5th April, and then on general sale from 10am Thursday 6th April. Visit ticketmaster.co.uk/jackwhitehall and jackwhitehall.com for more information.
Following three complete sell-out arena tours Jack is eager to get back on the road doing what he does best - entertaining audiences! His biggest-ever stand-up tour to date, Jack Whitehall : Stood Up, sold out arenas across the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. It was the UK's largest comedy tour of 2019, with a ticketed audience over 450,000. Jack has previously sold-out venues across the UK on two earlier tours: Jack Whitehall Gets Around (2014) and Jack Whitehall : At Large (2017), which was also filmed for Netflix.
Upon announcing, Jack Whitehall said: "This is my most personal show yet, with plenty of material about the big changes that have happened in my life. It's about my struggle to settle down gracefully. I've got a long-term partner, a ridiculous dog and am now hurtling towards middle aged without a clue. It's about a foppish man-child's cack handed attempt at adulting!"
Jack Whitehall is an award-winning comedian, actor, presenter and writer. He most recently starred alongside Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in Disney's Jungle Cruise, and in Clifford The Big Red Dog for Paramount. Both films are currently in development for sequels. He will next star alongside Shailene Woodley in Robots, an independent romantic comedy directed by Academy Award nominee Ant Hines. Jack has also just finished filming the second season of the Apple TV+ hit comedy series, The Afterparty opposite Tiffany Haddish , Zoe Chao and Sam Richardson, which will be released in 2023.
Jack's previous film work has included Lasse Hallstrom 's The Nutcracker and The Four Realms (playing opposite Keira Knightley , Helen Mirren , and Morgan Freeman ) for Disney, Garry Marshall 's Mother's Day (playing opposite Julia Roberts and Jennifer Garner ) and The Bad Education Movie, which he also wrote.
On television, Jack is widely celebrated for his hit Netflix show Travels With My Father, which released its fifth season last year. He has also starred in Good Omens opposite Jon Hamm and Michael Sheen for Amazon and Bounty Hunters opposite Rosie Perez for Sky Television. His other television credits include: Decline & Fall (BBC), Fresh Meat (C4) and Bad Education (BBC), which recently released its fourth series earlier this year, Jack served as an Executive Producer on the series.
An acclaimed comedian who loves the stage, Jack's Netflix special Jack Whitehall : I'm Only Joking was released in 2020. As a presenter, Jack has hosted the BRIT Awards for four years (2018-21) and several other prestigious award ceremonies including the GQ Men of the Year Awards (2020), the BAFTA Britannia Awards (2015, 2017-18) and The British Fashion Awards (2014-17). He became the youngest-ever host of the Royal Variety Performance in 2015.
Jack began his career at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007, where he won both The Charlie Hartill Special Reserve Competition and The Amused Moose Laugh Off. A string of further awards followed, including The British Comedy Awards' King Of Comedy, as voted for by the public, three years in a row.
