Journey to The West – Film mandarin satu ini menjadi salah satu film yang paling ditunggu-tunggu penayangannya karena dibintangi sederet artis ternama. Tayang perdana tahun 2017, yang juga merupakan cerita lanjutan atau sekuel dari film sebelumnya. 

Berjudul Journey to The West The Demons Strike Back , film ini dibintangi aktor ternama dari tahun 90’an yang sering bermain dalam film mandarin khususnya di genre aksi dan komedi siapa lagi kalau bukan Stephen Chow. Tidak hanya itu penggemar juga menunggu akting artis tampan Kris Wu yang dulunya merupakan jebolan dari salah satu boy grup populer di Korea Selatan yaitu EXO. 

Selain dua artis tersebut film mandarin satu ini juga dibintangi artis lainnya seperti   Yao Chen , Shu Qi , Lin Gengxin , Lin Yun , dan Wang Likun . Stephen Chow seperti biasa tidak hanya menjadi pemain dalam film ini namun juga menjadi penulis naskah cerita dengan Tsui Hark sebagai sutradara.

Sinopsis 

Film ini menceritakan petualangan kera sakti, Biksu Tong,  atau Sun Go Kong, Cu Pat Kai dan Wujing mencari kitab suci. Biksu Tong bersama dengan ketiga muridnya akan pergi ke arah barat untuk menemukan kitab suci, selain itu juga mereka memiliki tugas untuk membasmi para iblis. 

Petualangan biksu dan ketiga muridnya tidak selalu lancar, mereka sering kali bertengkar karena perbedaan pendapat yang kadang menghambat pencarian kitab suci. Namun dibalik itu disini mereka juga semakin dekat dan saling mengerti satu sama lain.

Buat kamu penikmat berbagai variety show Korea, pastinya kamu sudah familiar sekali dengan variety show yang saat ini tengah digandrungi, New Journey to the West 5 . Merupakan salah satu variety show hasil karya sutradara terkenal Na Young Seok PD atau biasa dikenal dengan sebutan Na PD . Seperti diketahui, melalui tangan dinginnya, Na PD memang sudah banyak menghasilkan variety show terbaik yang menarik untuk dinikmati oleh semua kalangan. Na PD sendiri dikenal sebagai sutradara terkenal Korea Selatan yang sudah banyak memproduksi variety show sukses dan terkenal di Korea.

Karirnya mulai menanjak sejak ia menyutradarai variety show terkenal keluran KBS 2 Days & 1 Night di tahun 2007-2012. Setelah keluar dari stasiun televisi KBS, Na PD memutuskan untuk bergabung dengan TV kabel tvN. Bersama dengan tvN, Na PD kembali memproduksi banyak variety show popular seperti: Grandpa Over Flowers (2013-2018) , Youth Over Flowers (2014-2017) , Three Meals a Day (2014-2017) dan New Journey to the West (2015-2018) .

Memasuki season ke-5 New Journey to the West , Tim Produksi memberikan kabar mengenai adanya anggota baru yang akan menggantikan Kyuhyun Super Junior . Kyuhyun sendiri merupakan anggota New Journey to The West yang mulai bergabung sejak season ke-3. Di episode terakhir New Journey to the West season 4 , Kyuhyun mengumumkan bahwa dirinya akan segera melaksanakan tugas wajib militer (Wamil) sehingga tidak dapat menghadiri proses press conference untuk perilisan season ke-4.

Ditinggal salah satu anggota untuk wamil, kini menyisakan 5 anggota tetap untuk memulai season baru. Song Mino Winner , Eun Ji Won Sechskies , Kang Hodong , Lee Su Geun , dan Ahn Jae Hyun ( yang juga membintangi Love with Flaws ) akan memulai perjalanan lagi dan kembali syuting New Journey to the West untuk season ke-5. Namun bukan Na PD namanya jika tidak menghadirkan twist seru di setiap season, Na PD ternyata sudah menggandeng P.O untuk menggantikan posisi Kyuhyun yang tengah wamil. Meskipun kehadirannya sempat diragukan, namun anggota boyband Block B ini ternyata mampu memberikan suasana lucu serta dapat mengimbangi tingkah kocak dengan anggota lama.

Episode perdana Kshow New Journey to the West (NJTTW) season ke-5 yang ditayangkan pada tanggal 30 September 2018 kemarin, bahkan berhasil memperoleh rating tertinggi sepanjang sejarah penayangan NJTTW yakni 5,7%. Rating tersebut sekaligus membawa NJTTW sebagai pemegang rating tertinggi untuk penayangan acara di TV kabel. Di season terbarunya kali ini, NJTTW masih terus menyajikan banyak aksi gila serta kocak para anggota di setiap episodenya. Dan seperti di season-season sebelumnya, di tiap episode NJTTW selalu menghadirkan permainan yang selalu berbeda dan seru untuk ditonton. Inilah yang membedakan NJTTW dari Kshow kebanyakan yang hanya menyajikan permainan antar anggota saja. Disetiap season, para anggota berserta kru produksi akan pergi mengunjungi negara-negara di luar Korea Selatan. Di season ke-5, para kru produksi berserta member berkesempatan mengunjungi dua Negara sekaligus yaitu China dan Vietnam.
