The Lady Elliot Island Great Barrier Reef all inclusive Day Trip is the only one of its type in Australia. The visit allows you to view one of the most pristine sections of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef from the air as well as from above and below the water all in one day. Lady Elliot's location on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef makes the Island easily accessible for visitors to South-East Queensland.

The Great Barrier Reef Day Trip departs daily from Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast Aiport. Enjoy a gorgeous scenic flight en route to Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, a true coral cay island located on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. You will be greeted upon arrival and given a brief island orientation tour before exploring the island at your leisure. You will be fitted out with snorkel equipment before joining a glass bottom boat/guided snorkel tour to explore the reef where you will come face to face with a large variety of coral and brilliantly coloured fish, and may even encounter turtles, dolphins and our resident manta rays. A buffet lunch is served in the restaurant and you can participate in one of the island’s guided activities after lunch or spend the rest of the afternoon snorkelling or relaxing.

The welcoming Lady Elliot team will give you a historical tour of the island on arrival, showing you some of the unique elements that make up Lady Elliot.

Snorkelling The Great Barrier Reef offers some of the best snorkel locations in the world. Shallow reefs that sit under clear water make for great visibility, giving snorkellers the chance to see the marine life up close even from the top of the water! Lady Elliot features some of the best maintained coral reefs on the Barrier Reef, home to a wide variety of marine life including Manta Rays, Turtles, Reef Sharks.

Glass Bottom Boat Tour For those not keen to snorkel, Lady Elliot offer a glass bottom boat experience to see the wildlife in the reef lagoon. The Great Barrier Reef offers some of the widest varieties of aquatic life in the world. Shallow reefs that sit under clear water make for great visibility, giving snorkellers the chance to see the marine life up close even from the top of the water! Lady Elliot features some of the best maintained coral reefs on the Barrier Reef, home to a wide variety of marine life including Manta Rays, Turtles, Reef Sharks.

Reef Sites We will visit different sites spread out over the island. During different times in the day, you will get to encounter different types of marine life including giant clams, sea turtles, stingrays, reef sharks and more. The Great Barrier Reef offers a huge range of corals and tropical fish, with each reef offering a different variety!

Please note this tour may not be suitable if you have existing neck or back problems or are pregnant. Check with your agent to make sure this tour is suitable for you. 

Your Responsibilities:

Please advise us before booking if any passengers are under 18 years old to ensure this is the appropriate trip. 

You must reconfirm all booked tours prior to travel as specified on your voucher. If applicable, notes such as dietary requirements, pick-up locations and additional fees should also be confirmed at this time. Reconfirmations cannot be actioned through Fraser Tours / Mr Travel, and must be done so directly through the Service Operator as specified on each ticket.

It is your responsibility to notify us of ticket discrepancies. Please read through the details on your voucher thoroughly to ensure all details such as passenger names, ages and dates of travel on vouchers are correct.

It is the responsibility of all passengers travelling to advise both your travel agent at the time of booking and vessel check-in agent before boarding of any medical conditions including food allergies you may suffer from.

You need to allow adequate time to check-in prior to the specified departure time. 

Prices/Extra Costs:

All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST. Surcharges over peak holiday seasons may apply. 

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices and extra costs. Extra costs may include EMC fees, Stingersuit/Wetsuit Hire, Luggage Storage, Insurance, Linen Hire, National Park Fees, Fuel Levies, Dietary Fees, etc. Bonds may also apply.

We will also endeavour to communicate these extra costs with you at the time of booking, and on your ticket. However, it is your responsibility to confirm which (if any) additional costs apply with each Service Operator upon reconfirming your trip.

Travel Risk/Insurance:

It should be noted that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard clients, we cannot be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of our clients which are beyond our control. All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Tour Operator. We highly recommend that all clients have travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss or damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure. You should also ensure your travel insurance will cover special circumstances including weather events preventing guests from travelling to their tour departure destination and cancelled flights due to unforeseen circumstances.

Please be aware operators pass on credit card merchant fees so there is a non-refundable 1% surcharge for VISA and MASTERCARD card purchases.

All ticket/voucher reissues attract a $20 administration fee.

Open Date Vouchers / Gift Certificate:

Shipping Costs are in addition to the ticket price and will be added at check-out. Shipping costs are non-refundable and do not makeup part of the ticket value. 

E-Vouchers incur no shipping fees. You have 5 years to use the value of the voucher. Seasonal Price Rises will apply if travelling out the current seasons pricing. Vouchers can be exchanged for free up to the full value of the voucher excluding credit card fees and charges.

Cancellations

Client Cancellations:

All cancellations forfeit 25% of the recommended retail price (RRP) - not the discounted/sale price. No shows or client cancellations made within 30 days of departure forfeit 100% of the total ticket price. 

Transfers between tours can be made at the suppliers discretion, however, it should be noted that supplier fees may apply. Tour transfers also incur a $20 administration fee. 

It is compulsory that all cancellation requests are in writing and sent via email to [email protected]. Cancellations attempted via online chat or phone will not be actioned.

Supplier Cancellations:

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices, alter itineraries, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary.

All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Service Operator. If the Service Operator has to cancel the trip or activity (prior to departure) and we cannot offer a suitable alternative, then a refund will be given minus a 20% administration fee and any associated card fees. We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance, especially during the wet season.

In the unlikely event of your trip being cancelled or stood down, all guest communication is required to go through our Online Store via telephone or email. While there is a Sailing Whitsundays retail outlet located Airlie Beach, please be aware that they operate as a separate entity and are unable to access reservations made by the Mr Travel online department.

All refunds are in Australian Dollars and must be made to the card of payment. Fraser Tours/Mr Travel is not liable for exchange rate fluctuations or fees, or any other merchant/bank fees associated with domestic and/or international transactions.

Where a full refund is applicable, there is the option to transfer the whole cost of the tour to another tour or “Credit” to avoid the administration fee. A transfer fee of $20 will apply.

You will be emailed confirmation once the refund has been processed. Once the refund has been processed, it may still take time for the banks to clear the amount. Please allow 7-10 business days for the funds to clear into Australian accounts and up to 21 business days for international accounts.

Accountability/Misconduct:

All Service Operators have the right to provide client feedback and to cancel bookings based off of feedback from other Service Operators.

Brief History and Features of the Island

• Lady Elliot Island emerged from the sea about 3,500 years ago when seabirds brought guano and seeds, kickstarting its vegetation.
• Guano miners arrived in 1863 but damaged the island, leaving only eight Pisonia trees near the bistro. They removed around 3 feet of topsoil.
• In 1969, aviator Mr. Don Adams started a reforestation project using native plants, turning Lady Elliot into a wildlife sanctuary with a now diverse seabird population – the 2nd largest on the Great Barrier Reef.
• The Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort was established in 1984, making a huge commitment to a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to tourism ever since.
• The island is environmentally significant due to its importance for nesting loggerhead and green sea turtles, as well as the 1200 other marine species that inhabit the island and the surrounding waters.

• Hervey Bay is located approximately 3.5 half hours north of Brisbane with day trips to Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort operating daily (excluding Christmas day 25th December).
• You’ll depart Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast airport at approximately 8:10am and arriving on the island at 8:50am upon a short 40-minute scenic flight.
• Departure is 4:00pm from Lady Elliott Island.

Bundaberg to Lady Elliot Island Day Trip

• Bundaberg is located approximately 4.5 hours north of Brisbane with day trips to Lady Elliot Island operating daily (excluding Christmas day 25th December).
• Check in at the Lady Elliot Island/QantasLink counter at Bundaberg Airport. You’ll depart Bundaberg airport at approximately 8:40am and arriving on the island at 9:10 am upon a short 30-minute scenic flight.
• Departure is at 4:00pm from Lady Elliott Island.

Brisbane to Lady Elliot Island Day Trip

• Flights operate daily (excluding Christmas Day) from Redcliffe to Lady Elliot Island with a duration of approximately 80 minutes.
• You’ll depart Redcliffe at 7:15am and arriving at 8:45am.
• Departure from the island is at 2:30pm and arrive back in Redcliffe at 4:00pm.

• Garden Units – Arranged in blocks of three, the Garden Units are ideal for couples or families, offering a queen and bunk-style beds. The Lady Elliot Island Great Barrier Reef all-inclusive Day Tour is the only one of its type in Australia. The visit allows you to view one of the most pristine sections of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef from the air as well as from above and below the water all in one day.

Your tour commences with a pick up from your Gold Coast hotel at approx 6.00 am and a complimentary transfer to our private terminal to board your scenic flight to the coral cay of Lady Elliot Island. Lady Elliot is regarded as one of the best snorkelling and diving locations on the reef, famous for its unspoilt coral reef and an amazing array of marine life! On the way enjoy the aerial views of the Gold Coast, North and South Stradbroke Islands, Moreton Island and Fraser Island. Upon arrival on Lady Elliot Island, your guide will take you on a brief orientation tour of the island and escort you to the Day Guest facilities to collect your snorkel equipment.

You will then join a glass-bottom boat & guided snorkel tour to view a large variety of coral and brilliantly coloured fish, with the possibility to encounter turtles, dolphins and the resident manta rays. A hot & cold buffet lunch is served in the Beachfront Dining Room and includes a choice of wine, beer and soft drink. After lunch, join your guide for fish feeding in the Fish Pool and at 2.30 pm depart on a scenic flight back to the Gold Coast. The tour concludes at approx. 4.30 pm with a return transfer to your hotel. A light breakfast and afternoon tea (water & biscuit) are served inflight.
