Taylor Swift has proven she will show up and show out for her fans come rain or shine. The singer has performed twice in the pouring rain while on the Eras Tour. Check out these epic pictures from the rained out shows

Meet Me in the Pouring Rain

Taylor Swift's second night at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on May 20 marked the second time the singer has had to perform under a relentless stream of pouring rain.

The first time was at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium earlier this month.

The Show Must Go On

Despite getting absolutely drenched, the 12-time Grammy winner pushed through and put on an unforgettable show for her Swifties.

When It Rains, It Pours

In a post to Instagram, Swift noted that though this wasn't her first time playing in the rain, things felt delightfully different this time around.

"Last night we all danced together in the rain for THE ENTIRE 3.5 HOUR SHOW in foxy Foxborough MA!!," she wrote.  "We’ve had rain shows at Gillette Stadium before but this was a full on deluge that never let up, I just want to thank that iconic crowd!! Love you so much you have no idea 💕🥰🥲"

Wet Hair, Don't Care

The following night, as her piano began to malfunction and play on its own , Swift told the crowd that the previous night's weather was "like a monsoon."

"Literally, it was like a water park under the stage," she added. "You have no idea."

Keep it Moving

But it wasn't just Swift who kept the show going. Her team of dancers and musicians also had her back during the rained out set.

Shake It Off

And despite it all, the superstar still thrilled fans with multiple costume changes — including this sparkly green number — as she bounced through the different eras of her music catalogue.

Singing in the Rain

Prior to the "monsoon" in Massachusetts, Swift experienced her first rain show of the tour in Nashville on May 7.

Nashville’s Nissan Stadium sent out a shelter in place warning an hour before Gracie Abrams, who was Swift's opener that night, went on stage, Billboard reported. The delay would go on for hours before the "Blank Space" singer took the stage at around 10 p.m.

All Together Now

The 33-year-old wowed the crowd per usual, and played the full set well into the night.

Splish, Splash

"WELL. We had our first rain show of The Eras Tour. And it was SO MUCH FUN. The dancers, band, crowd and I all pretty much turned into little kids joyfully jumping in puddles all night," Swift wrote on Instagram .

"I wanted to thank the crowd again for waiting for the weather to clear. And my amazing crew for keeping the stage, lighting and equipment all dry and working so we could play. That was a late, great night I won’t forget. 🥹"

Sealed With a Kiss

This photo, which appears to have been taken during the Eras Tour tradition of Swift giving her "22" hat to a lucky audience member, sums up the night in Nashville perfectly.

A year of the Eras Tour: A look back at Taylor Swift's record-breaking show

midnight rain eras tour

One year ago, the crowd in Glendale, Arizona, erupted into a massive cheer in State Farm Stadium when Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" began playing and the backdrop screen transitioned to a countdown clock starting at 2:24.

None of the Swifties who traveled from all over the state of Arizona and the nation, dressed to the nines as one of her 10 eras, knew the tour would be three-plus hours. The fan screaming next to me from Pennsylvania who bought a ticket on StubHub.com for about $400 didn't know that we would go era-by-era through a 44-song track list. I don't think the singer, herself, knew when she hid inside a cleaning cart wheeled backstage, that her show would lead to a billion-dollar enterprise, Time magazine person of the year and an inundation of friendship bracelets. I didn't know the behemoth success following the Eras Tour star would send me packing from Phoenix to Nashville, Tennessee, to become the inaugural Taylor Swift reporter.

Swift's dancers flowed onto the stage through fog with pink, purple and orange parachute flaps. A compilation of songs from Swift's 10 albums — or eras — played as "it's been a long time coming" boomed into the stadium. Goosebumps covered the arms of thousands and tears cascaded down cheeks as the flaps revealed Miss Americana rising to begin her "Lover" set.

Eighty three shows later, here's a look back at the unprecedented tour that set a Guinness World Record . And fair warning, like her tour this article is an extensive rollercoaster.

Swept up in the hype, the world became Taylor Nation. Glendale, "Erazona ," was renamed "Swift City." Las Vegas lit up its arches in all 10 era colors. Arlington, Texas, dubbed one of its streets "Taylor Swift Way." Tampa, Florida, gave Swift a key to the city and invited her to be an honorary mayor. Houston renamed its venue "NRG Stadium (Taylor’s Version)."

Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated a bench in Centennial Park to the hometown singer. A Philadelphia radio station, 96.5 FM (WTDY), renamed itself Ninety-Swift-Five W-T-A-Y. Gov. Philip D. Murphy dubbed the "Taylor Swift ham, egg and cheese sandwich" the "state sandwich of New Jersey." Chicago lit up the top of Willis Tower in her album colors. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey renamed his city "Swiftie-apolis," and Santa Clara, California, Mayor Lisa Gillmor switched the city's name to "Swiftie Clara."

Internationally, fans in Brazil caught the attention of Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes and Father Omar, the rector of the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary, who arranged to project a  "Junior Jewels" inspired T-shirt  onto the Christ the Redeemer statue. Flinders Station in Melbourne , Australia, flashed a wallpaper glaze of lights to welcome the Eras star. Singapore painted the Marina Bay Sands Resort all colors of vibrant lights.

It's a cruel summer with you

All four seasons met the fifteen dancers, four backup singers, six bandmates and hundreds of production and crew members, adding unpredictable weather to the mix. Mother Nature danced in a lightning storm to "Fearless" in Tampa and made the song "Midnight Rain" a reality in Nashville . Rain poured through the open-roofed stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where Swift pushed puddles forming on her piano . The Swiftie fandom created its own natural phenomenon in Seattle after a seismologist registered a 2.3 magnitude earthquake on her Richter scale.

The intense heat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, caused Swift to throw water bottles to fans and temporarily halt her show. Ana Clara Benevides Machado, 23, passed out and died of heat exhaustion. The heartbreaking news prompted changes at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos to allow fans access to water. Swift invited Benevides' family to her concert in São Paulo.

I want you to think of the memories made

Swift incorporated custom messages into each tour stop. At her international destinations, she welcomed fans in their custom languages. "Bienvenidos al Eras Tour," she said in Mexico City before hoisting her hands in the air. While donning either her pink or blue guitar before the title track of "Lover," she commonly announced the stadium attendance often record-breaking.

Outside of stadiums, thousands "Taylorgated," or showed up without a ticket to hear Swift's beats and dance on the concrete. Tens of thousands more logged on to watch livestreams from fans with tickets who agreed to spend concert time holding up their mobile devices in a tricep-burning position.

The number of viewers would jump before the "Champagne Problems" speech and acoustic set. To keep things fun and interesting each night, fans filled out "Swiftball" ballots guessing the singer's outfits from four "Lover" bodysuits and accompanying "The Man" jackets, three "Fearless" dresses, two "Evermore" dresses, six "Speak Now" gowns, three bedazzled "22" shirts, five "Folkore" dresses, four "1989" crop top and skirt combos, six "Midnights" T-shirt dresses, three "Midnight Rain" body suits and four "Karma" faux fur jackets. To see how many times the Eras star wore each outfit, check out the "Data Swiftie."

For fans who wanted to get alerts to watch the shows without having to calculate time changes, Swift Alert became the app for that .

Double clap, audience chants

A secret language formed between fans and Swift as new traditions popped up along the tour. The four lines fans screamed at the top of their lungs, no matter the city or country, were "cause shade never made anybody less gay" in "You Need To Calm Down," "what a shame she's f----d in the head" in "Champagne Problems," "f--- the patriarchy" in "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" and "don't call me kid, don't call me baby" in "Illicit Affairs."

Swift started every show strong with a very important question: Did her fans know the bridge to "Cruel Summer?" "Prove it!" she'd yell at some stops and the audience would, every single time, bellow, "I'm drunk in the back of the car." For "The Archer," fans printed and dispersed signs that read, "We will stay," to hold up when Swift asks, "Who would stay?"

In the "Fearless" era, fans double clapped with "13" drawn on the back of their hands in the middle of the bridge to "You Belong With Me." A trend of marriage proposals during "Love Story" picked up during the 2024 leg with partners popping the question as Swift sang, "He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring."

During "Marjorie," Swifties turned their phone flashlights on in tribute to Swift's grandma. Fans started timing the standing ovation and ear-shattering applause after "Champagne Problems." Livestreamers, like Tess Bohne , would display a clock and fans guessed if the cheers would surpass one, two or three minutes.

A snake shape slithered through the light-up braceklets handed out before the show at the start of the "Reputation" era. Fans yelled "1, 2, 3, let's go b----" before the first verse of "Delicate" as Swift counts on her fingers. Later in the song, Swift sings, "Do the girls back home touch you like I do?" and fans reply, "No, they don't." On rare occasion, Swift would let out a three-note riff during her "Don't Blame Me" belt.

After rereleasing her third album, the "Speak Now" singer added "Long Live" to the set list, bringing the total to 45 tracks. In the first verse when she croons "the crowds and stands went wild," the crowd indeed went wild.

In the "Red" era, Swift crowned a deserving fan with a black fedora during "22." They were typically children, but one adult Swiftie was crowned in Melbourne . Dancer Kameron Saunders had the only speaking line on the tour besides Swift during her song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." He said "like ever" at the American shows, but when the tour went international, he switched up the phrase each night. And yes, we track that. Swift knew all too well each crowd had "10 minutes to spare," and she played her longest song, in total, for about 14 hours.

She was only tied to the "Invisible String" for five shows and traded the opening "Folklore" era number to "The 1" in Arlington, before news of her split from actor Joe Alwyn . She brought "Invisible String" back for one night in Nashville because the Tennessee capital is home to Centennial Park. Nashvillians also noticed that Swift switched a note during "The 1" lyric "you meet a woman on the internet and take her home." She kept the key change for every succeeding show.

Right before the first lyric of "Style" during the "1989" set, fans began a tradition of saying, "What time is it?" to which the singer replied, "Midnight, you come and pick me up." In Sydney, Australia, a "Blank Space" chant from the 1989 World Tour was reborn and repeated in Singapore. Taylor Nation, Swift's marketing team, tweeted that it hopes fans at every tour stop going forward shout their city. In Philadelphia, a "Bad Blood" remix originated when Swift noticed a security guard hassling a fan . "She's fine. She wasn't doing anything. Hey! Stop! Hey, stop!" became the cool thing to say after, "It's so sad to think about the good times, you and I." Fans also incorporated a Kendrick Lamar line from the "Bad Blood" remix: "You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go."

And then came the surprise set . (More on her collaborators and announcements below.) Each night, Swift performed one song on the guitar and one on the piano that she hadn't yet performed on the tour. That is until 2024, when she added mashups and threw out her rule of never repeating songs. At the end of the set, she swan dives into a hole in the stage. Fans later caught a red light that turned green to signal it was safe to jump.

After meeting her at "Midnights," fans sang Jack Antonoff's version of "Anti-Hero." When Swift sings "tale as old as time," the crowd chimes in, "Taylor, you'll be fine." Tyler Conroy made a viral video of him screaming , "Where you going Taylor?" during "Bejeweled" before she sings, "I'm going out tonight," and the trend caught on like a blaze ripping through the Lover house. Finally, after Swift changed the lyrics to, "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs," in Argentina with her boyfriend Travis Kelce in the crowd, that became the standard for fans. She has only sang it that way four times, when he was in attendance in Buenos Aires, Sydney and Singapore.

If you would direct your attention to the back screen

In addition to boosting economies everywhere she went, Swift created an abundance of news. She announced "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" in Nashville. She announced a new version of "Midnights" and premiered the "Karma (Remix)" music video featuring Ice Spice as the upstart rapper joined Swift in East Rutherford, New Jersey. She released "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" right before her Kansas City, Missouri, stop and then debuted the "I Can See You" music video starring Taylor Lautner and Joey King who were at the show. Lautner backflipped on the catwalk.

It might have seemed strange that Swift ended the American leg of her tour on a Wednesday in Los Angeles, but not to the eagle-eyed Swiftie who realized the date was 8/9. That's the day she announced the rerecording of her fifth album, "1989 (Taylor's Version)." The album came out during her break before her Argentina tour dates. It topped the Billboard charts and allowed her to bypass Elvis for the most weeks with an album at No. 1.

Then, she announced her 11th album, "The Tortured Poets Department," at the Grammys after winning her 13th career award. At her tour stops in Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore, she revealed there were four total versions of "Tortured Poets" and told fans they would get a different bonus track on each one : "The Manuscript," "The Bolter," "The Albatross" and "The Black Dog."

Welcome to the acoustic set

One of the most anticipated portions of an Eras Tour show is the acoustic set. At most of the concerts, she only spoke before the guitar song. In rare instances, she tested the microphone before the piano song and made an announcement.

Occasionally she invited collaborators to join her onstage. Marcus Mumford surprised fans in Las Vegas to play "Cowboy Like Me." Her co-producer and close friend Aaron Dessner from The National joined her six times on stage, in Tampa (twice), Nashville, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Santa Clara. Jack Antonoff came out to play "Getaway Car" in New Jersey. Maren Morris did a "You All Over Me" duet in Chicago. When their opening acts were canceled for weather, Gracie Abrams performed "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" and Sabrina Carpenter sang a dyad mashup of "White Horse" and "Coney Island."

Some of the surprise songs came with hidden messages. Fans speculated she sang "Bigger Than The Whole Sky" as an ode to a fan who died , "End Game" to Travis Kelce watching her show from the VIP tent and "Gold Rush" as a congratulations to Jason Kelce for retiring. She has performed "You're On Your Own Kid" five times, in Tampa, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Tokyo and Singapore.

And he never thinks of me, except when I'm on TV

To close out the first year of the Eras Tour, Swift released the third film version of her concert to streaming service Disney+. This version included "Cardigan" and four acoustic songs: "Maroon," "Death By A Thousand Cuts," "You Are In Love" and "I Can See You."

The second version came out on Swift's birthday, Dec. 13. Fans could rent it for 48 hours at a price of $19.89, and it included "The Archer," "Wildest Dreams" and "Long Live" cut from the original movie.

The original movie was released Oct. 13, in the middle of the Hollywood strikes. Swift did what studios and streaming services were unable to: make a deal with SAG-AFTRA. She worked with the unions and was able to market and show her movie how she saw fit. The film made more than $250 million globally and got her nominated for a Golden Globe award .

Would you be interested in one more song?

If you're still with me on this walk down Eras Tour Lane, it's important to make one final note before the tour resumes in Paris in May. Before her magnum opus took off higher than the "Bad Blood" flames, Swift chose "Mirrorball" and "Tim McGraw" to be her very first surprise songs. She ended year one with the same two songs, but flipped the instruments she played them on in a full-circle moment.

Her new album will come out April 19 and the full Eras Tour is streaming on Disney+, which begs the question: What her show will look like come Paris? She has a two-month break before 69 shows scheduled for Europe and North America. She also has two rerecords left to release: "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" and her self-titled debut album.

If there's one thing any Swiftie knows, it's Taylor Swift's ability to make news and create lasting memories through her record-shattering tour. What a first year; on to year two!

Taylor has 'reset' the surprise song list, which means anyone attending a show in 2024 can anticipate hearing a song she's already performed. She previously stated that she will only play each surprise song once during the tour, unless she messes one up.

There's also no rules for Taylor repeating songs from Midnights as surprise songs, which means fans may get to hear the likes of 'You're On Your Own Kid' and 'Snow on the Beach' again at some point in the future.

We'll update this article with every Surprise Acoustic Song – and every surprise song that she will play again – after every show.

Will Taylor Swift change the Eras Tour setlist to include The Tortured Poets Department?

Will Taylor Swift change the Eras Tour setlist for the international shows?

As of March 9th 2024, the Eras Tour setlist has remained the same as the U.S. leg. However, with the release of The Tortured Poets Department in April, things could change. More on that further down the page.

Fans attending the European shows might end up hearing Taylor perform ' Castles Crumbling ' with Hayley Williams as an additional song during the Speak Now section, as Paramore will be supporting her throughout those tour dates. (Both Phoebe Bridgers and HAIM joined Taylor on stage to perform 'Nothing New' and 'No Body, No Crime' respectively on the nights they were support acts.)

After completing her shows in South America, Australia, Japan and Singapore, Taylor is now set to pick the tour back up in Europe in May 2024 and run through to mid-August, before returning to North America in November 2024.

Will Taylor Swift change the Eras Tour setlist to include The Tortured Poets Department ?

Taylor's brand new album was released on April 19th, just before she embarks on the European leg of the Eras Tour. The full anthology version of the album includes a whopping 31 new songs.

We won't know for sure whether or not the official setlist will change to accommodate those songs until she kicks off the Eras Tour in Paris on May 9th.

It's unclear if she will add a new TTPD section to the tour, but it's looking very likely that Taylor will perform some of those new songs as surprise songs. We'll update this article as soon as we know more!

What are Taylor's most performed songs on tour?

Before she embarked on The Eras Tour, Taylor’s top 3 most performed songs are ‘Love Story’ (491 times), ‘Our Song’ (404 times) and ‘You Belong With Me’ (381 times).

Of course, almost all of Taylor’s most performed songs are from her first two albums. As the list goes on, the Speak Now bops, Red bangers and 1989 hits start to weave their way in.

If you’re wondering what Taylor’s most played songs from her first five albums are, here’s a break down:

  • Taylor Swift : ‘Our Song’, ‘Tim McGraw’ and ‘Picture To Burn’
  • Fearless: ‘Love Story’, ‘You Belong With Me’ and ‘Fifteen’
  • Speak Now : ‘Sparks Fly’, ‘Mean’ and ‘Mine’
  • Red : ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘Red’
  • 1989 : ‘Shake It Off’, ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Out of the Woods’

Taylor has only had the chance to perform songs from Reputation on the Reputation Stadium Tour so far, but ‘Ready For It?’, ‘Delicate’ and ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ take the top spots when it comes to live performances of the Rep tracks.

Due to the cancellation of Lover Fest, Taylor hasn’t been able to perform Lover on a tour setting. Folklore, Evermore and Midnights will also be making their tour debut on the Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift refused to cancel her third Nashville show and performed in the pouring rain after massive lightning delays.

Listen to this article

It's official: Nashville Night Three of The Eras Tour will now go down in history as one of the greatest Taylor Swift concerts of all time. Taylor performing 'Midnight Rain', in the pouring rain, at midnight? More likely than you think!

On Sunday (May 7), Taylor was set to play her third and final night in Nashville, Tennessee. Fans arrived at the stadium as usual (Taylor-themed outfits on, spirits high, friendship bracelets ready to trade) before they were told to shelter inside the stadium's concourses or remain in their cars due to a serious weather warning.

Torrential rain and lightning strikes in the surrounding areas had begun, which meant Taylor would not be able to start the show at the scheduled time. The warning remained in place until 9:45 PM but instead of pulling the plug completely, forcing 70,000 fans to go home without seeing her at all, she waited it out and took to the stage at 10:10 PM when it was safe enough for her – and the crowd – to be in the venue.

As a result of the delay, Taylor ended up playing half the show in torrential downpour, never missing a beat. She completed the entire setlist (complete with the two surprise songs!) and wrapped up the show around 1:40 AM – two hours and twenty minutes later than usual.

Addressing the situation on stage, Taylor said: "This is something we’re all doing together. It’s like such a bonding experience. We’re all gonna leave here tonight looking like we just went through five car washes… People will be like, ‘Where were you? Several wars?’ And you’re like, ‘No, I just went to the Eras Tour. It’s fine.'"

Later, a drenched Taylor made sure to shout out her dancers, and the crowd themselves, for staying and sharing the experience with her. "Make some noise for my phenomenal dancers who danced in the rain for you all night. … The fact that you stayed for us, that you gave us everything you had... We love you so much, Nashville. We will never forget this night," she said.

WELL. We had our first rain show of The Eras Tour. And it was SO MUCH FUN. The dancers, band, crowd and I all pretty much turned into little kids joyfully jumping in puddles all night. I wanted to thank the crowd again for waiting for the weather to clear. And my amazing crew for… pic.twitter.com/OqdtiQaGhU — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) May 9, 2023

While dangerous, "rain shows" are always a major highlight for fans. Taylor is by no means the first artist to continue to play in these kind of conditions, but it's definitely a first for her and those of her fans who experienced it.

Needless to say, those that were in the crowd, alongside the other fans who were watching at home on social media, can't stop talking about the whole thing.

The lightning striking as Taylor sang "Fuck the patriarchy"? Now THAT's history.

Taylor Swift

At long last, Taylor Swift has arrived in Los Angeles for the final stop of her U.S. tour — or so fans thought.

Earlier on Thursday, Aug. 3 — hours before the superstar would take the stage at SoFi Stadium — she announced a second leg of North American dates for 2024. The new dates include stops in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis and Toronto. “Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era,” Swift wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

How to Buy Last-Minute Tickets to Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour in Los Angeles

And as she made perfectly clear on the first of her six-night run in L.A., slowing down is simply not in the cards. Neither is performing the same show night after night, as evidenced by the addition of two surprise songs to each set list, which Swift says is a fun way to challenge herself to dig deep into her extensive catalog — while also keeping fans on their toes, creating a sort of “gotta catch ’em all” energy.

But on Thursday, there was an even greater buzz radiating throughout the packed stadium as 70,000 fans poured in, many of whom were eagerly discussing rumors that Selena Gomez may make an appearance or that the next Taylor’s Version could be announced on this very night.

That’s the thing about the Eras Tour: it’s safe to expect the unexpected.

As it turns out, neither rumor was true. And yet, Swift’s opening night was nothing short of magical and filled with firsts, like having never performed at SoFi before or selecting a surprise song that she has never played live. And thankfully, it was all captured by a cameraman following her every move on stage, filming for something , as Swift managed to kick her power and poise into an even higher gear.

8 Ways Taylor Swift Has Changed the Music Business

The night also included stellar opening sets from Gracie Abrams, who will join Swift on her 2024 dates, and HAIM. Of the sister trio, Swift said: “Not only are these three individuals my besties, but they’re my favorite band,” also noting it was a hometown show for the rockers.

“We have a lot to catch up on, musically speaking,” Swift said later on. “I haven’t toured in five years before the Eras Tour; This is the last city on the U.S. leg and we knew we wanted to end someplace special.”

And that is was.

Below are the best moments from Swift’s opening night in L.A.

HAIM’s Not-So-Surprise Guest Appearance

Considering HAIM opened the show, fans were hoping they might return to the stage for their evermore collaboration with Swift – which thankfully, they did. (They performed it together live for the first time recently in Seattle). Relatively early in the three-and-a-half hour set, Danielle, Este and Alana joined their non-blood sister Swift for the dramatic “no body, no crime.” And though the sisters stood on their own platforms, Swift made the rounds, spending time with each before the foursome ended the song in a loving group hug.

The Potentially Record-Breaking Round of Applause

The evermore era was the gift that kept on giving. After Swift performed the affecting “Champagne Problems” at the piano, she was greeted with an applause so thunderous and so long it could have rivaled her own “10 Minute Version” of “All Too Well.” Swift explained how the song was one she felt most excited to perform live, having written it in the pandemic while deeply missing her fans.

By the time she was done, it was overwhelmingly obvious they missed her just as much. The applause lasted so long a teary-eyed Swift could hardly get a word in, opting to eventually place her head atop her keys and take it all in. She eventually took her in-ear monitors out, only to be more shocked by what was happening, telling the crowd: “That is a nice thing to do for someone when they’re starting out a six-night run at SoFi stadium…That’s very generous.”

Swift’s Oh-So-Subtle Glance Back

While wearing a stunning, sparkling and incredibly poofy princess gown, Swift delivered one of the Eras tour highlights: “Enchanted.” For much of the trek, that song alone represented Speak Now — but in July, following the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), the rallying “Long Live” was added to the mix. Following Swift’s rousing performance of the track, she sauntered to the back of the stage – pausing to quickly glance back over her right shoulder, with a smirk spread across her face and a visible twinkle in her eyes, just as she does on TV ’s album art.

A Very Special Recipient of the “22” Hat

During the Red era, Swift has made a point of gifting her black hat to one lucky recipient each night. Tonight, it was none other than Kobe Bryant’s daughter Bianka. As her mom, Vanessa, stood nearby, Bianka knelt in front of the stage wearing a layered tutu and sparkly jacket. After the two embraced, Swift gave her a kiss on the cheek before returning to the show.

Vanessa was wearing a particularly special outfit of her own, having made a custom Swiftie jean jacket that on the back featured a photo of Swift and her late husband Kobe from 2015, when the star athlete presented the singer with a banner for the most sold-out shows at the then-Staples Center. On the front of the jacket, Vanessa had a fitting lyric from Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” embroidered: “Say you’ll remember me.”

The All Too Fast "All Too Well"

Despite this being the last city on this first U.S. leg of the Eras Tour – and despite its unprecedented length for a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 – hearing “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) will simply never get old. “Do you have about 10 minutes to spare?” asked Swift, knowing all too well that her fans would – and do – give her their undivided attention for over three full hours night after night. And even though the song’s length is in its title, it never quite seems that long, solidifying just how impressive a storyteller Swift is to pack such a full narrative into such a small window.

A Friendly Reminder Of the Month

“L.A., what month is it?” teased Swift with a smile, setting the scene for “August” during her folklore era. The moment did feel particularly magical, as it was the first time on this tour (and perhaps ever) that Swift performed the song during the month it was named after. And as she sang of summer slipping away, while running across the stage as if trying to chase it, the song took on extra meaning as this first leg of her history-making trek is seemingly doing the same.

A Monumental First

Swift’s surprise songs were so stellar that they deserve their own best moment breakout. She started the acoustic portion by explaining the idea behind the nightly surprise songs, saying it’s really a celebration of how supportive her fans are of her and her music. “Every night is different,” she says, “and that forces me to really go back through all of my songs and play ones that it would never occur to me to play live or I’ve never played live before, and so tonight, we got one of the ones that I’ve never played live before.” She then played the ominous “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” off Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) to roaring applause. As any Swiftie knows, there are few things better than being able to say, “I was there.”

The Blush-Inducing Second Surprise Song

As Swift swapped her guitar for her piano, it was soon clear the second surprise song of the night was “Maroon” off Midnights . And though she has indeed played it before on the Eras Tour, the fan favorite was warmly received. In fact, a hush seemed to fall over the stadium during the song, allowing lines like “That’s a real f—ing legacy to leave” to hit even harder, considering Swift is leaving hers in real time before our very eyes.

A Perfect TV-Made Moment

During the final era of Swift’s impressively-long set, she hammed it up for Midnights track “Midnight Rain.” As she got to the end of the song she couldn’t help but have some fun with one particular lyric, singing directly into the camera lens: “And he never thinks of me / Except for when I’m on TV,” at which point she stuck out her tongue in a confidently playful manner. And while it remains to be seen what surprises Swift has in store for her five nights left at SoFi, this moment proved one thing to be certain: whatever may result from tonight’s footage will be a knockout… Are you ready for it?

Taylor Swift is a 'mastermind' on Eras Tour -- even in the 'midnight' rain

by LIZ BATESON | WJAR

When Taylor Swift said “meet me in the pouring rain,” she meant it.

The pop superstar took a sold-out, 70,000 person crowd through a journey of 17 years of music at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts Saturday night -- in downpours.

The midnight rain didn’t stop her , as she showcased her evolution as an artist during a 3.5 hour setlist made up of 45-songs from each era of her music.

Opening acts Gayle and Phoebe Bridgers took the stage first. Gayle showcased her grit and universality with a poprock sound, performing classics like “Bennie and the Jets” and more modern music, like her hit song “abcedfu.”

Phoebe Bridgers changed the pace with an indie folk sound, performing songs like “Motion Sickness“ and “I Know The End" that highlight her raw talent and lyricism. Bridgers, whom Swift said is one of the "best songwriters and coolest artists", would later come back on stage with Swift to perform their duet “Nothing New.”

It was then time for the much-anticipated event: The Taylor Takeover.

She kicked things off with 2019’s Lover album, which may have been a nod to the tour being cancelled a few cruel summers ago due to the pandemic. In a bedazzled bodysuit and studded boots, Swift sang hits like “The Man,” “Lover” and “The Archer."

The next stop was Fearless, an album she described as a journey “back to high school.” Fearless was released when Swift was just 18-years old and became her first number one album, spending 11 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200.

Paying ode to that breakthrough moment in time for her, Swift got the crowd jumping on their feet with performances of “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story.”

The stage then transformed into a forest for her Evermore era. Evermore is the sister album to Swift’s pandemic-release album Folklore.

Swift told the crowd she was nervous about chatter that stadium tours would never bounce back post-pandemic, but rather than mull on that, she decided to make art to “try to connect” with her fans.

She certainly did just that. Keeping the stadium on their feet through the rain, fans stayed captivated with her heartfelt songs like “Marjorie” and “Willow.” Both songs are poetic and retrospective in tone.

During this setlist, Swift took the time to reflect on her journey with Foxborough fans, telling the crowd the first time she ever “experienced a rain show was in this stadium.”

She added, “the whole day it was going to rain and my team and I, we really didn’t know what that meant for the crowd because in my mind that meant, ‘the crowd is going to want to have a nice evening, therefore, they are not going to want to get rained on the whole night, right?’

Instead, she recalls how the crowd didn’t shy away from the raindrops and she says that's taught her a lesson she’s taken with her on every tour since: “The fans and crowds in the New England, Boston, Foxborough, Massachusetts area do not care if it rains. Instead, that kind of makes it more fun for you!”

In perhaps the biggest show of her evolution as an artist, Swift then takes us to her Reputation era. The album is known to be categorized as her rebellious era and her performances depicted just that.

Sporting a black and red asymmetrical bodysuit with a snake projected on the jumbotron, she energized the crowd with songs like “Look What You Made Me Do,” “Delicate” and “Are You Ready For It?”

It’s a stark contrast from her Speak Now era, which came next. Swift performed just one song from that album, “Enchanted,” in a sparkling ball gown.

From there, it’s on to Red. This era captures a bouncy, young and carefree era of Swift. She performed hit songs like “22,” “We Are Never Getting Back Together” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

She told the crowd how important it is for her to own her own music, which is why she’s re-recording all of her old albums. Swift is known to release “vault tracks”whenever she does so, which are songs that didn’t make the album the first go around. She decides to release them years later to give fans the "full picture" of that moment in time.

One of her most popular vault tracks has been “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)". Swift, joking with the crowd, asked if they had 10 minutes to spare as she performed that heartfelt, achingly beautiful track that represents the nostalgia and pain that comes with love lost.

It was then to a cabin in the woods for Folklore. This album really depicts the evolution of Swift, as she tells the crowd she went from writing eerily honest songs about her own life and experiences, to making up fictional storylines, hence the title Folklore.

This era was one of her longer set lists, performing songs like “Cardigan” and “Betty.” She also paid ode to her Watch Hill house, performing “The Last Great American Dynasty” in front of a coastal backdrop depicting the beautiful Rhode Island beaches.

She then seamlessly transitioned to an earlier era in time, 1989. Named after the year she was born, this album represents her transition to pop music, proving that Swifties stay loyal to her music no matter the genre.

This era was met with upbeat energy, with the backdrop depicting a cityscape as Swift dawned a lime green, sparkly two piece. She performed choreography alongside her back-up dancers (again, in the pouring rain) to hit songs like “Blank Space” and “Shake It Off.”

This led to a much-anticipated moment from all of Swift’s tours: her two surprise songs.

For night two at Foxborough, the surprise songs were “Question...?” off her latest album Midnights. Swift played an acoustic version of this, stopping a few lines in to soak in the moment, literally, telling the crowd “it’s really raining" and declaring it the "rainiest" rain show.

She then decided to change gears and performed the song "Invisible" off her very first album. Swift was stripped of the colorful lights, choreography and vibrant backdrops. Instead, it was just her, a piano and her powerful vocals, proving she really can do it all.

Switching gears once again, she put on a fur coat and sparkly t-shirt dress, ending the 3.5 hour marathon performance with songs off her latest album Midnights. The setlist consisted of the popular songs like “Lavender Haze,” “Anti-Hero” and “Bejeweled” before she capped things off with “Karma," as pyrotechnics shot into the night sky.

All in all, it was a triumphant return to touring for Swift.

She's known for her captivating lyrics detailing romantic relationships and the highs and lows that come with them, but the Eras Tour highlighted how much she’s evolved as an artist over the last decade – and how much her fans have stood by her side, rain or shine.

Swift redefines what it means to be an artist. She’s more than a good voice; she is a storyteller, lyricist, performer and musician who continues to reinvent her legacy.

The Eras Tour was a spectacle like no other and "I don't know how it gets better than this." But Swift is a mastermind and will find a way to reinvent the wheel and continue to take her fans on an enchanted journey.

A big thank you to Tree Paine & Dana Lobb with Premium PR who provided the tickets to this event.

Many fans seemed even more enthusiastic after being held to the stadium's concourses for several hours, and after rain poured — on the crowd and Swift alike — for the last two-thirds of the epic late-night concert

Taylor Swift ‘s recent song “Midnight Rain” lived up to its name when it was performed Sunday night at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, except that it was actually after 1 a.m. local time when it finally came up in the set list. The finale of her hometown three-night stand was pushed back hours from its scheduled start time due to lightning strikes near the downtown area; once it did finally get underway after 10 p.m., the second half of the three-and-a-half-hour set was marked by a steady downpour, hitting Swift as hard as it did the audience in the roofless venue, before the show finally wrapped up just after 1:35 a.m.

Popular on Variety

Later, as the downpour didn’t let up, during the “Red”-themed portion of the show, she said, “This is something we’re all doing together. It’s like such a bonding experience. We’re all gonna leave here tonight looking like we just went through five car washes… People will be like, ‘Where were you? Several wars?’ And you’re like, ‘No, I just went to the Eras Tour . It’s fine.'”

As the clock neared 1 a.m., Swift launched into the penultimate “surprise songs” segment of the show, for which she was joined by a special guest, a co-writer and co-producer on her last three albums, the National’s Aaron Dessner , to play a second guitar on the “Midnights” bonus track “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve.” Making the long walk from the main stage to the B-stage in the middle of the stadium, Dessner, too, quickly looked waterlogged.

Dessner was up for the memorable occasion. “I was lucky to see other shows on this tour, but in the rain it’s even better,” he claimed.

The show was scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., as it has at every other stop on the tour, with two opening acts preceding a Swift set that usually lasts from about 7:50 till about 11:15. In Nashville Sunday, though, the show was about an hour from starting when announcements appeared on big screens and on social media warning attendees to shelter in place in the venue’s concourses, or remain in their cars if they had not gone inside yet. That warning remained in place from around 5:30 until around 9:45, at which point lightning left the area — for the time being — and fans were told they should finally take their seats, leading to a human traffic jam through the stadium entryways. By that point, some fatigued families with younger children had already taken their leave.

“Rain shows” are actually well-remembered and prized among some fans who’ve seen her in outdoor stadium settings before, so dampened spirits weren’t much of a problem among those who’d made it through the marathon wait as the show finally got underway at about 10:10 p.m. Opening acts Phoebe Bridgers and Gracie Abrams had long since been bumped from the bill, not surprisingly, with a Swift set that has averaged out at about 220 minutes still to go.

The sight of Swift with a wet head is not unfamiliar (some past tours have ended with her either standing in a waterfall or cavorting with her dancers in a fountain), but the length and extent to which she was out in a downpour along with fans might be unprecedented in her touring life. The singer made a point as things wound down at 1:37 a.m. to ask the crowd to “make some noise for my phenomenal dancers who danced in the rain for you all night. … The fact that you stayed for us, that you gave us everything you had — we love you so much, Nashville. We will never forget this night.”

Lightning did return to the surrounding area before Swift’s show ended, as fan photos and videos showed the sky lighting up in the distance around midnight, but the show was not further halted once it began. Although fans wondered whether curfews or fines might cause Swift’s set to be condensed, Nissan Stadium is city-owned and said not to be subject to the restrictions that might affect other venues — especially when unleashing 70,000 angry Swifties into the wild is a prospect.

One of the fans happy to have waited it out for hours was Siobhan Duden, a 32-year-old middle school teacher from Knoxville who was getting one of her first nights out after having a baby six months ago. “We all came together in this bonding moment, singing songs as we waited for Taylor. Everybody completely embraced it. We were all here for Taylor and knew she would be there for us. While we were waiting amid the shelter-in-place, my friends and I joked that Taylor meant it literally when she said ‘Meet me at midnight.’ We literally would have waited if the show did start at midnight to see her, if that was what it took. When I finally got to my seat, it was super exciting because once you realized how many people stayed through all of that, you knew you were around people like you” with equal tenacity.

For Swift fans wondering how Sunday’s show was different from the two preceding it in Nashville, or any other concerts along the routing so far: “The 1” was back in the set Sunday as the first number of the “Folklore” portion, after “Invisible String” curiously made a one-time reappearance Saturday night. Aside from that one-off, “Invisible String” had last been part of the tour setlist on March 25 in Las Vegas. Fans have widely assumed that it was taken out of the set that early in the tour because its lyrics are full of autobiographical details about her relationship with Joe Alwyn, whom she is known to have split from this year.

(Matty Healy of the 1975, who has been tagged as a possible new beau by British tabloids, was reported to be viewing Sunday’s concert from a covered spot… although, contrary to said tabloids’ predictions, he did not perform with Swift. Healy did strum guitar behind Bridgers during her opening set on Saturday.)

Although Bridgers did not get to perform her planned opening set (which on the first two nights in Nashville had featured cameos from her Boygenius colleagues), fans did at least get to see Bridgers again join Swift during the headliner’s set for the third successive rendition of their duet from “Red (Taylor’s Version),” “Nothing New.” (Bridgers will also be opening all of Swift’s shows through the end of May, before departing to tour with Boygenius starting in June.)

In the “secret songs” segment, Swift prefaced her and Dessner’s performance of “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” by describing it as “one of our favorite songs we’ve done together… (that) we hear you guys request all the time.” The song, which has been understood as a return to the subject matter of the “Speak Now” track “Dear John,” has been a clear favorite among all the bonus tracks released as part of the “Midnights” deluxe edition last fall. “You knew every word to that,” she said, expressing surprise at the ferocity of enthusiasm for a tune left off the standard edition.

GUYS. pic.twitter.com/wA9hRyyvaU — adam IS SEEING TAYLOR TODAY (@teheadam) May 8, 2023

Swift noted that, although she has discussed 2020’s “Folklore” as being really the first time she wrote extensively in character instead of out of her own performance, that truthfully really started 10 years earlier with the “Speak Now” album. “I wrote the (title) song ‘Speak Now’ about interrupting the wedding of an ex…  I was 19 when I wrote that, and none of my exes were getting married,” she pointed out. “It was so fantasy, so fantastical… my first time thinking in cinematic, ‘This isn’t my life, but what if it were’” terms. The same went for the album-leading single: “When I wrote it, I was writing about all these relationship things that hadn’t happened to me. Like ‘there’s a drawer of my things at your place’… Those are things that I was not partaking in at 19, when I wrote these songs. It’s been a treat to go back and re-record them, because I’m relating to them now. This is called ‘Mine.'”

Fans have puzzled over who “Mine” was about for years, since the lyrical details didn’t seem to have known analogs to real-life events. Now, they may be satisfied to finally know for certain who it’s about: nobody.

Swift resumes her tour Friday in Philadelphia. It may take about that long for some of Sunday night’s attendees to get back on their sleep schedule. As the crawl at the end of one of the fan livestreams read: “Goodnight, good luck to everyone with school tmrw.” A special “good luck” may have been in order for everyone whose phone ran out of battery before connecting with family about pickups in the designated waiting area; Nissan Stadium had advised parents via social media to show up three hours after the actual start time.

Taylor Swift can make even a dark AMC shimmer.

Seated at the world premiere of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” in Los Angeles, California, the widely worshipped Grammy winner sang and danced her way through the concert film ’s two hours and 48 minutes’ of songs — frequently mirroring the exact gestures seen on screen and pantomiming the use of a microphone to giddily perform for friends in her row.

“We pranced on that stage grinning because of what met us on the other side. And that was you, how much you cared about it,” Swift said. “You absolutely are main characters in this film because that’s what made the tour magical. That’s what made it different than anything I’ve ever done in my life is your attention to detail, your preparation, your passion, your intensity. You cared so much about these shows and that made all the difference for us.”

The singer/songwriter sensation introduced her film to an audience of press, devoted fans, and admiring celebrities at AMC The Grove on Wednesday, October 11 around 8:30 p.m. The open-air luxury mall closed for the entire day to accommodate the event and saw roughly 2,200 Swifties taking over every auditorium in the theater. Moviegoers flooded the mid-city multiplex — freshly adorned with pink and purple flowers and countless portraits of Swift — just hours after the “Midnights” artist announced that the movie’s release date has been moved up . Showings in the U.S. and Canada will now begin Thursday instead of Friday due to “unprecedented demand.”

Swift does not perform “The Archer” or “cardigan” in “The Eras Tour” movie, despite those tracks appearing on the show’s main set list. And although the movie was shot during her six-night stint at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Swift’s “no body, no crime” performance with opener HAIM similarly does not appear. (In other cities, Swift performed “’tis the damn season,” but that didn’t make the movie either.) “Long Live” makes the cut, but instead of appearing in the main film the fan-favorite track is used as music for the end credits.

For her acoustic set, which changes between performances, Swift sings “Our Song” and “You’re On Your Own, Kid.” (Notably, those numbers appeared during different nights at SoFi.) Fans concerned the MPAA’s one f-bomb per PG-13 movie rule would require Swift to censor herself can rest assured that her more adult lyrics in the songs “betty,” “champagne problems,” and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” remain as originally written. “ Fuck the patriarchy! ” was hit especially hard by the movie audience, which leaned more concert-goer than quiet cinephile with some dedicated attendees standing the entire time.

Some fans cried for seemingly the entire film — no small feat considering its delightful but decidedly taxing duration — and Swift routinely lead the group in signature chants from the concert. But “The Eras Tour” world premiere reached its fever-pitch with the final song: “Karma.” Swift received an uproarious ovation as the entire theater rose for the last number and stayed standing through an end credits sequence featuring tour outtakes (wardrobe malfunctions abound!) and ample friendship bracelets.

Read on for “The Eras Tour” set list as it appears in the concert film, as well as a complete transcript of Swift’s remarks from before its world premiere.

(*) Fans looking to sit where Taylor sat should find AMC The Grove’s Auditorium 2, Row F, Seat 11.

I have friends in this room. I have my amazing backing vocalists in this room. And let me just say, my fellow performers on the stage — the dancers, the band, my backing vocalists — they would go out on stage every single night, in sickness or in health, in any weather conditions we would face, regardless of what was going on in our lives. We pranced on that stage grinning because of what met us on the other side. And that was you, how much you cared about it. That was absolutely everything. I think you’ll see that you absolutely are main characters in this film because that’s what made the tour magical. That’s what made it different than anything I’ve ever done in my life is your attention to detail, your preparation, your passion, your intensity. You cared so much about these shows and that made all the difference for us. It made us want to add even more shows and just keep doing the tour.

I am so proud of this film. Sam Wrench is our amazing director. He’s absolutely incredible. We have an amazing team of camera operators and editors and everyone in post-production and I am so honored by all of their work and their dedication to this. And I think I’ll just watch it with you now. Let’s have a blast, guys. Thank you for coming.” —Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Setlist: 13 Best Moments from Her Opening Night Concert

Taylor Swift does the Bejeweled TikTok dance on stage as part of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour Setlist

The Taylor Swift Eras Tour: a theatrical, emotional, intense feat of performance that clocked in at over three hours — with 45 songs total, including a poetic reading of the song “Seven” — much to the pleasure of Swifties, who last saw her perform a live tour four albums ago.

Taylor officially kicked off the Eras Tour with an opening night in Glendale, Arizona , on March 17 to a crowd of nearly 70,000 fans who had no idea what she would do next.  It was also an especially Nashville kind of night, with openers Paramore and GAYLE hailing from the city.

As Taylor welcomed everyone to the tour, she introduced the format: we'd be going on an adventure through Taylor's discography, era by era. The album order? Lover , Fearless, evermore , reputation, Speak Now, Red, folklore , 1989 , an acoustic set reminiscent of her debut, and finally, Midnights . Iconic.

Throughout the evening, Taylor played both hits and deep cuts, alluding to fandom inside jokes and overall showing how comfortable and happy she looks on stage. Three-plus hours of some of Taylor Swift's best work can be summed up in a quote from the singer-songwriter herself: “I don't know how to process how you all are making me feel right now.”

Whether you have tickets for future dates or would like to live vicariously through social media, check out our 13 favorite moments from night one of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour.

Cirque du Lover Fest

Just before 8 p.m., a countdown clock set to Lesley Gore's “You Don't Own Me” appeared on the massive screen at State Farm Stadium. The seconds trickled down, and then… an opening door, and dancers emerged carrying massive colorful wings — a la Loïe Fuller — to a montage of Taylor audio clips from various eras. The effect was theatrical, bright as she rose from the middle of the wings to a surprising first song: “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince.” This one was for the girls with Lover Fest tickets.

Billowing wingesque waves on stage during opening moments of Eras Tour

A Little Bicep Kiss, as a Treat

Taylor was fully feeling herself minutes into the Eras Tour setlist, and nowhere was this more obvious than in her build-up to “The Man.” Transitioning from sparkly bodysuit to sparkly power blazer, she said, “You guys are making me feel powerful." She flexed her arm like Rosie the Riveter, hammering home the point with a deranged little kiss to her bicep. She finished with a flourish, ”I guess what I'm trying to say is you're making me feel like the man."

An evermore Joke Reference

Lest you forget Taylor Swift sees all, she explicitly referenced an ongoing fan theory/inside joke about her album evermore, in the middle of performing that era. Since evermore came out as folklore 's sister record, fans noticed what they saw as a pattern of her not acknowledging the album as much as its predecessor. Taylor assured fans, however, that evermore still holds a special place in her heart.

“We are in the middle of the evermore album,” she said at the mossy piano. "It’s an album I absolutely love, despite what some of you say on TikTok. I’ve seen it, I’ve seen all of it.”

A Moving Performance of “Marjorie"

If there's one song I didn't expect to hear in the Eras Tour setlist, it's “Marjorie,” one of the best examples of her songwriting to date. It's an emotive homage to her late grandmother, a song that feels close and intimate, almost too much to be performed in a stadium. But Taylor, wearing a long yellow dress, performed it with a glassy-eyed vulnerability that drew the crowd in to grieve together. To compound the moment, she followed “Marjorie” with fan-favorite “Champagne Problems” at the piano.

TikTok content

Give “tolerate it” a broadway show.

Taylor Swift went full theatre kid on “Tolerate It," whose set featured a long wooden table set with various fancy vases and tableware, with her dancer at the end playing her fraught love interest. As the verses mounted, Taylor climbed atop the table, smashing glass and tearing shit up. The drama!

The Old Taylors in Glass Closets

Reputation really is that album, and Taylor took us right back to The Reputation Tour during Eras with snake motifs, reimagined dark Taylor costuming, and more. The four-song setlist was a highlight of the show — that “Don't Blame Me” high note! — and especially “Look What You Made Me Do,” when her dancers donned old Taylor outfits and became trapped in glass boxes, banging on the sides to get out. Current Taylor only taunted them, dancing alongside and looking menacing. (Bonus: Andrea Swift absolutely rocking out to this song, as she should.)

Justice for Speak Now , But “Enchanted” Was Gorgeous

Taylor Swift's entirely self-written album — and the rumored next re-record — received some of the least attention during the Eras Tour. But the record did get a beautiful moment in “Enchanted,” where Taylor emerged in a glittering gown amidst purple fog. Enchanting, in the truest sense.

Instagram content

“i just love the idea of men apologizing”.

The folklore era was the most fully-fledged at the Eras Tour, with eight songs in total. Before she sang “Betty,” Taylor gave one of her most spot-on monologues: “I love to explain to men how to apologize,” she said, which, so true. “I just love the idea of men apologizing.”

“My Tears Ricochet”: A Funeral Procession

A true best moment of the Eras Tour: the dramatic funeral procession version of “My Tears Ricochet.” The visuals were out of an epic disaster movie, Taylor as the eye of a storm, a tsunami headed straight for you. The ultimate scene was her leading a pack of dancers in funeral black down the long stage.

“Tim McGraw,” Piano Version

I cried, you cried, 69,000+ people cried when Taylor sat at the piano to play the first song she ever released: “Tim McGraw.” The song was part of an acoustic set that also included “Mirrorball” — and according to Taylor, the set won't repeat any songs for the whole tour, unless she really messes something up and wants a do-over. (Not likely.)

A Dip in the Pool

The most shocking Eras Tour moment: when Taylor Swift suddenly dove into a pool of water at the very front of the stage. It was a sick visual moment, as the long stage took on a graphic of Taylor “swimming” underwater the length of the stadium, only to emerge on the main stage ready to take us into the final era of the setlist: Midnights . Meanwhile, the dive is already a viral internet meme.

The “Bejeweled” TikTok Dance

The TikTok x Taylor Swift crossover continued into the night during “Bejeweled,” when she performed the popular dance created by Mikael Arellano — complete with finger-wiggling shimmer.

“Karma” Is a Closer

If “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” was a surprising opening, “Karma” was a surprising finisher for the Eras Tour setlist. The Midnights track brought the whole show full circle, showing her joy and confidence in her performances and her team, and the work she and her coworkers put in to get here. (Plus, another win for the Karma album theory truthers ; one fan spotted an orange coat , as evidence of the album trapped in Taylor's vault.)

Find out which songs from the tour setlist were cut

Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film premiered in October to an enthusiastic crowd of celebrities, fans and of course Taylor’s team, with the star of the film in attendance. As one of the first to see the film, TheWrap got the scoop on which songs from the wildly popular tour made the film, and which songs were cut.

After making speeches in multiple auditoriums for separate audiences, Swift, clad in a sky blue floral-patterned dress (probably in theme for “1989 (Taylor’s Version) with her hair pinned up like the signature bob she had when that album first came out), sat back to enjoy the film’s premiere in one of the IMAX screening rooms with her background vocalists and publicist Tree Paine.

The documentary runs 2 hours and 48 minutes, slightly shorter than Swift’s three-hour setlist and performance, which she has brought to 17 of the United States so far in addition to Mexico. The European leg will kick off in November, with Swift returning for 15 more U.S. shows in October and November of 2024. And now you can rent “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” on digital to watch at home. Read on for the 41 songs that made the cut to truly represent all 10 of Swift’s eras.

Midnight Rain: The Eras Tour 5/7 Show in Nashville

midnight rain eras tour

Last night, the weather did not look good. I had plans with two friends and my husband to see Taylor Swift play at Nissan Stadium for her third Nashville show in The Eras Tour. She had successfully played the Friday and Saturday night shows, both of which also had potentially stormy forecasts, but cleared up. Sunday was different. The forecast only got worse, not better, as the concert time approached. Still, we stayed positive and got ready together, even as the sky darkened.

I wore this The Archer t-shirt with this ribbed tank dress underneath (size XL to give it a looser, more comfy fit) and some old boots (regretful – should’ve worn sneakers) for a Lover-era outfit. We all wore the bracelets we’d made – Holiday House, Starbucks Lovers, Stars Around My Scars, Karma is a Cat, Calm Down, and more (you have to be a Swiftie to know!) – in order to trade them with other fans at the show (though we never ended up getting the chance).

With butterfly clips in my hair, I got geared up to go to the show around 5:30, when we’d planned. However, the four of us opened the front door to an absolute monsoon. Nissan Stadium had issued a shelter-in-place order, so we decided to stay put at our house. We ended up hanging there for nearly four more hours and passed the time by eating snacks and watching the 1989 World Tour followed by Taylor Swift music videos. Finally, by 9:15 p.m., the show had not been canceled, and it seemed like things were mobilizing at the stadium. Based on the weather, I expected Taylor to get on stage around 10:00 (with the openers canceled), and we decided to head down there. We were able to zip downtown quite quickly and park on the street by this time of night.

Thankfully, we got into our seats just in time ! Above is our view from section 240. Things started out smoothly, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures through the Lover, Fearless, and evermore eras. And then the rain slowly began during the Reputation era – the song “Delicate,” specifically – and stayed light until it began to absolutely pour for the Red era and continued through folklore, 1989, and Midnights. There was truly nothing to do but embrace the rain. We put on our ponchos and continued to sing and dance our hearts out along with Taylor. She kept saying how special the rain shows are, how they are a bonding experience, and only saved for the best audiences. It rained so much that I soon barely felt the water anymore, even lowering my poncho hood to let it fall on me.

She played from 10:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. through literal Midnight Rain. It was so worth it, the best show ever. From having and giving all her energy all night, to being human on stage and pulling a stray hair out of her mouth in the pouring rain, to telling us we’re all going to look like river otters after this, and that we’d all be bonded for life from the experience. In her words, “We never forget the rain shows.” I got to bed at 3:00 a.m. and am not functioning well today, but I sure am floating on a cloud.

Here are my highlights and tips if you are going to one of her shows this spring or summer!

  • She played and sang incredibly all night long, and the entire show was a blast. Some particular standouts to me included “Marjorie,” “All Too Well (10-Minute Version),” the transition from “August” to the excerpt from “Illicit Affairs,” “Style,” “Bad Blood” (actual fire warmed us up in the rain!), and the entire Midnights era (the end of the show) had tons of incredible energy and dancing. Truly, though, from start to finish, it was magical.
  • The surprise song with a surprise guest – Taylor played “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” with Aaron Dessner of The National, a band I love.
  • Every time Taylor connected with the audience – it was just so sweet and special.
  • Taylor and her dancers having the time of their lives in the rain!
  • Bring earplugs. I wore these , and they were fantastic. I did not wear them the entire time, but would pop them in for especially loud cheering and songs. It really helped, and my ears were not ringing at the night’s end.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. I really wished I’d worn these instead of the boots that I chose.
  • Check the weather, and be prepared. I would have been miserable without the poncho I brought!
  • It is very doable to use the restroom quickly and easily without missing more than a minute. Most people stay in the stadium for the entire show.
  • Cancel all plans and take off work the next day; it’s quite a show and requires time to recover.
  • Embrace whatever happens. We expected our show to start at 6:30 p.m., and it began at 10:00 p.m. instead. As it turned out, dancing in the middle of the night in the rain with Taylor was an unbeatable, unforgettable experience that we only could have imagined in our Wildest Dreams.

It was truly a marvelous time!

Because she's Taylor Swift , there were some super-impressive details and nods to her previous work. Here are 13 small but brilliant details:

1. the first song on the setlist is " miss americana & the heartbreak prince," and the first line taylor sings is "it's been a long time coming," an acknowledgement of the five-year gap since her previous reputation stadium tour:.

abigail 🪩 @stepyoutake i still cannot believe that the first words out of taylor swift’s mouth on her first tour in five years were “it’s been a long time coming but it’s you and me that’s my whole world” like that’s the cutest shit in the world she loves us so much i’m gonna throw up 03:49 AM - 21 Mar 2023 Reply Retweet Favorite

2. Taylor re-created the iconic "Fearless" twirl, almost 14 years later!

3. She ALSO re-created the crystallized guitar AND hand heart during "Fearless," immediately transporting us all back in time to the 2009 Fearless tour:

4. During "22," Taylor quickly holds up a three, since she's 33 years old and closer to 32 years old!

6. During "Anti-Hero," Taylor slightly changes the song and lets the crowd scream "Hi!" and then says "Hi!" back. It's a super-cute moment:

8. We've all seen the brilliant, viral stage dive — but one fan captured this setup, which shows when Taylor is queued to dive into the stage:

Jacnights 🌑🌙✨ @jacnights13 How Taylor dives into the stage. 1. A part of the stage opens up to reveal a section underneath the stage. 2. Taylor gets prepared to jump, as you can see, there is a red light which signals for her not to jump yet. 3. Taylor jumps when the light turns green. 11:17 AM - 19 Mar 2023 Reply Retweet Favorite

9. This is a conspiracy theory, but a lot of people noticed that the tour ends with Taylor performing "Karma" and wearing orange, which references a theory that Taylor has a scrapped album called Karma:

sara𓆚 @mirrorswifft “can I hint something 3 years in advance?” the eras tour ending with karma and leaving an orange door to the screen til the end of the show, look at the album wall in the mv of the man: karma ts11 06:30 AM - 20 Mar 2023 Reply Retweet Favorite

10. The final song on the pre-show playlist before Taylor takes the stage is "You Don't Own Me" by Lesley Gore, a nod to Taylor re-recording and owning her first six albums:

liz (taylor’s version) @AstoundingSwift NO BECAUSE THE FACT THAT "YOU DON'T OWN ME" PLAYS BEFORE THE FUCKING ERAS TOUR. THE INTERNATIONAL IMPLICATIONS OF THAT 06:49 AM - 18 Mar 2023 Reply Retweet Favorite

The dance was first created by TikToker Mikael Arellano .

12. The cropped top, skirt, and boots Taylor wears during the 1989 part of the show are strikingly similar to the outfit she wore when she performed "Shake It Off" at the 1989 world tour.

13. And last but not least, a lot of fans were shocked that Taylor included "Marjorie," a super-personal song about her late grandmother. But Taylor liked this TikTok that explains why it means so much:

Taylor Swift Facts @blessedswifty ‼️ | @TaylorSwift13 liked a TikTok video about her performing “marjorie”: — Having her grandmother vocals featured on the song and played on tour, She got to perform with her and making her Grandma’s dream becoming a famous musician. https://t.co/GtnFIaSVWS 02:58 AM - 20 Mar 2023 Reply Retweet Favorite

A new ‘Era’ just dropped.

On Friday, April 19, at midnight, Taylor Swift released her eleventh studio album “The Tortured Poets Department.”

“An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure,” Swift wrote on Instagram , describing the ambitious record.

Two hours later, she surprised even the most devout Swifties announcing that “The Tortured Poets Department” is a 31-track (!) double album.

“I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours,” she shared in a second late night post.

Taylor Swift poses on the red carpet.

While fans devour the sprawling record — featuring special guests Post Malone and Florence And The Machine — Swift is gearing up for another leg of her ongoing ‘Eras Tour.’

Starting May 9, she’ll resume her international trek with four shows at Paris, FR’s La Defense Arena .

When our team last reported on tickets in early January, prices for those France gigs could be scored for as low as $797 USD before fees on Vivid Seats.

Now, prices start at $433 before fees at the time of publication.

While that downward trend doesn’t hold true for every country she’s visiting, some ticket prices are significantly lower than they were three months ago.

The lowest price we found for all 65 remaining shows was $202 before fees for a show in Lyon, FR; the biggest drop in prices for a single show was over $2,500 (!) for an Italy gig.

Want to dig a bit deeper and find out how much it will cost to see Taylor (and maybe Travis Kelce) this year at the show nearest you?

You’re in luck.

We went ahead and found the cheapest tickets for all ‘Eras Tour’ concerts now versus what they cost on Jan. 3, 2024.

See you at a show (and save us a friendship bracelet).

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Taylor Swift 2024 tickets

A complete calendar including all upcoming tour dates, venues and the best ticket prices for all concerts versus what they cost on Jan. 3 can be found here.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Taylor Swift set list

Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ news

Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely over the past year.

Over the past few months, we’ve a) spoken to a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live, b)  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends  and c)  explained the drama  surrounding her international opener Sabrina Carpenter.

Want to see how much it cost to see Taylor in the states at the outset of the ‘Eras Tour?’ You can find that information  right here .

Taylor Swift new music

As noted above, Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” was released on midnight (and subsequently at 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.

While every listener will likely come away with their own favorites, we particularly enjoyed the sleek synth of “Fortnight,” icy “So Long, London,” anthemic “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” bombastic slow build of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and gorgeously arranged ballad “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”

If you want to give it a spin — if you haven’t already, that is — you can find “The Tortured Poets Department” here .

Taylor Swift opening acts

Taylor only has two opening acts lined up for the ‘Eras Tour’ this year.

Here’s what you need to know about her well-established special guests.

Paramore will play alongside Swift after mounting a massive 2023 tour of their own. The group, fronted by lead singer Hayley Williams, reunited in 2022 after a five-year hiatus. For fans that want to check out their latest, you can listen to “This Is Why,” their sixth studio album, which dropped in February 2023.

Gracie Abrams , the daughter of film director JJ Abrams and producer Katie McGrath, is a star in her own right. Her song “I miss you, I’m sorry” has upwards of 100 million streams on Spotify, she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the 2022 “Sour Tour” and headlined her own tour last spring as well.

Huge stars on tour in 2024

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (maybe more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Olivia Rodrigo

•  Kacey Musgraves

•  Pink

•  Chappell Roan

•  Alanis Morissette

Taylor Swift's Personal Trainer Shares Her Fitness Secrets to Working Out Like "Professional Athlete"

Taylor swift's fitness trainer kirk myers broke down her eras tour workout. find out how the tortured poets department singer became "stronger, better and faster" with exercise..

Taylor Swift  really is the man when it comes to working out .

In fact, her personal trainer  Kirk Myers believes that "some people would probably throw up or have to lay down on the floor if they trained like her."

"It's tailored," he told Vogue in an interview published April 19. "We approached her training for the Eras Tour with the mindset like a professional athlete . There was an 'off-season' when she wasn't touring and 'in-season' when she was."

And Taylor doesn't slack off just because there's a blank space on her tour calendar. According to Kirk, the "Fortnight" singer is in the gym "up to six days a week for sometimes two hours a day" during her downtime.

"Taylor is the most resilient person I have ever met," he said. "It's super-inspiring to see her consistently overcome obstacles and become better and stronger in the end. This also translates into her training and throughout her workouts."

The Dogpound gym founder continued, "I give her a difficult exercise or challenging workout, not only is she able to complete and push through it—but she also perseveres, moving forward into the next exercise. This ultimately makes her stronger, better and faster."

As for the days when Taylor is on the road? Kirk said she still trains on average two times a week, with a focus on "strength and conditioning."

"Taylor trained during the entire tour," he shared. "In-season training was more about maintenance, and so it was more like stability, mobility, biomechanics ."

Plus, Taylor's three-hour concert is a marathon in and of itself, so Kirk noted that also factors into her weekly workouts.

"If you've seen the show, you know how intense it is physically," he explained, before praising the Grammy winner's overall stamina. "Imagine doing that three, four days in a row and then you finally have a few off days and you're still showing up to gym. That's Taylor."

But exercise is only half the battle. As Taylor previously noted, she also quit drinking in order to prepare for the record-breaking tour .

"Doing that show with a hangover," she quipped in her Time  Person of the Year  profile last year, "I don't want to know that world."

Vowing that the show must go on "whether I'm sick, injured, heartbroken, uncomfortable, or stressed," Taylor added, "That's part of my identity as a human being now. If someone buys a ticket to my show, I'm going to play it unless we have some sort of force majeure."
