profile picture of Martina Garvey

In a nutshell: The Nuna MIXX Next Stroller is a flexible option for growing families. Giving it a total score of 4.7 out of 5, our product tester was a fan of the fully reclining, reversible seat and liked that it can be used as a travel system with Nuna infant car seats.

When it comes to baby gear, finding a stroller is top of the list for most families. But you don’t just want any old stroller, you want one that actually works for your lifestyle. And for folks looking for a versatile mode of transportation, the Nuna MIXX Next is hard to beat. In fact, it was voted the overall best stroller in our latest Best of The Bump awards programme .

To get a clear picture of how this stroller actually works for families, we asked a mom of one to test it out and tell us what she thought. Below, find her honest review—plus pros and cons to consider, technical specs and additional input from the editorial team and members of The Bump community.

Overview of the Nuna MIXX Next Stroller Features

About the nuna mixx next.

Nuna MIXX Next Stroller

  • UPF 50+ sun canopy
  • Easy to steer with one hand
  • Compatible with Nuna car seats
  • High price point
  • Car seat sold separately
  • Awkward to carry when folded

Before we get into our product tester feedback, let’s do a quick recap of the Nuna MIXX Next’s key features. It offers four modes of use including rear- and forward-facing seat options. It's good to go from day one thanks to a near-flat recline that safely accommodates a newborn. And a magnetic self-guiding harness makes it easy to buckle in your little one. It’s compatible with all Nuna infant car seats and features a unique ring adaptor, which makes it easy to attach or detach the car seat in seconds. Meanwhile, rugged rubber tires with all-wheel suspension make for smooth strolling over any type of terrain and it's incredibly easy to push and steer. We also like the fact that the stroller stands upright when folded, making it easy to store until your next journey.

How We The Tested Nuna MIXX Next Stroller

To find out how the Nuna MIXX Next stroller performed in a real family setting, we took the following steps:

  • Enlisted the help of Sarah, an independent product tester and mom of a 2-month-old baby, to take the stroller for multiple test-drives. She used the Nuna MIXX stroller in combination with the Nuna PIPA urbn car seat as a travel system, and tested it across a number of different situations.
  • We asked Sarah to rate the stroller across six categories—including ease of use, folding and unfolding, features, design, value and overall experience—on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the worst possible score and 5 being the best. Her ratings have been combined with extensive research by our in-house editorial team to inform the in-depth product review below.
  • In May 2023 we surveyed over 300 new and expectant parents, gathering feedback on the baby gear they used with their own families. We asked survey respondents to rate the Nuna MIXX Next stroller and tell us what they liked and disliked about it.

Nuna MIXX Next Stroller Review

After using the Nuna MIXX Next with her 2-month-old baby, our product tester, Sarah, evaluated the stroller based on the following categories: Ease of pushing and steering, folding and unfolding, ease of use as a stroller and travel system, features, style and design and value for money. Keep reading to hear her thoughts.

Ease of pushing and steering

Our product tester awarded the Nuna MIXX Next top marks for ease of pushing and steering. “I was actually really impressed with the stroller’s ease in maneuverability. It’s easy to steer one-handed and the turn radius is fantastic,” says Sarah. “We went on walks that included turns, going over bumps and curbs, as well as uneven grassy fields and this stroller handled it all great. The suspension is really good and helped make it a pretty smooth ride for my baby even on bumpy terrain,” she continues. We’re not surprised at this assessment as the stroller has free-flex suspension and large foam-filled tires designed to absorb any jolts or shocks along your journey. Another plus point is the compact frame that weighs under 29 lbs. and is small enough to maneuver through tight spaces. “It doesn’t feel heavy to push at all. It’s nice to take shopping and doesn’t feel weighed down when items are in the basket.” An adjustable handlebar also makes it easy to steer and push, whether you are tall or on the shorter side. This is evident in our product tester’s review as she told us that “the handlebar is comfortable and a good width and length.” Overall, the pushing and steering process was a positive one: “I felt like my baby was secure at all times when we had to go down and up curbs, and again I was able to use just one hand if necessary.”

Rating: 5 out of 5

Folding and unfolding

nuna mixx travel system

The Nuna MIXX Next folds 6.5 inches smaller than its predecessor; however, our product tester felt that the folding process could be improved upon. “While it is pretty easy to fold and unfold the stroller, you unfortunately can’t do it with one hand,” says Sarah. “It requires both hands, as the mechanisms are at the top by the handle on both sides,” she explains. “This was one of the few features I didn’t like about this stroller, as I’ve personally used others where it’s quite easy to fold and unfold with one hand.”

The stroller is relatively compact, stands upright once folded and can be pulled behind you like a trolley. But our product tester found it difficult to pack away and store. “It was a little awkward to carry when folded. However, that could be an issue on my end as I’m short in stature, so it could be much easier for taller users.” In terms of size when folded, our tester reported that the Nuna MIXX Next was “average” for a travel system stroller. “It does take up quite a bit of space but from experience so do the others. It will stand up on its own while folded, which is a nice aspect.”

One of the claims made by Nuna is that the stroller automatically locks into place once folded, but our product tester wasn’t overly impressed with this feature. “I wish that when folding the stroller you didn’t have to use a latch to lock it in place—and honestly since there is a latch and it has to be used, I wish there were two because the single latch, on just one side of the stroller, doesn’t keep it folded very tight and adds to the cumbersomeness when trying to move it folded or lift it into a car.”

Rating: 3 out of 5

Ease of use as a stroller travel system

One of the biggest selling points of this stroller is its versatility. The stroller itself can be used from birth thanks to a reclining seat with a flat position for newborn naps on the go. And the stroller is compatible with all Nuna infant car seats, so you can easily create a travel system. Our product tester tested the Nuna MIXX Next in combination with the PIPA urbn and gave it top marks for ease of use. In terms of assembly, “the longest part of setting up this travel system was probably just getting all the straps and buckles adjusted to fit my baby, and taking out any of the inserts.” All in all it took her “an hour, or a little less, to set up both the stroller and the car seat.”

Our product tester said it was easy to attach and detach the car seat, earning this stroller major brownie points: “It comes with the adaptor piece to put the car seat in place versus the regular seat. It’s very easy to click the car seat into place and to take it off. Plus, you can do that with one hand, which is awesome.” She was also a fan of the one-touch rear-wheel braking system, telling us that “the stroller brake works well, it’s right at the bottom of the stroller near where your feet are, so it’s easy to access.”

It also has plenty of adjustable features, including a reclining seat, removable armbar and “you can adjust the stroller handle into several different lengths, which is great.” It also has an all-weather seat with removable cushioning for winter and an airy mesh back panel for summer. According to our product tester, “the stroller is also fairly easy to keep clean as the fabric seat lining and the inserts for the car seat are machine washable, which is a big plus.”

Car seat compatibility

nuna mixx travel system

As mentioned above, Sarah used the stroller as her primary travel system with a baseless car seat. “Initially I was a bit concerned about using the car seat since it doesn’t have a base. But after reading up on the safety features and using it multiple times, I really, really love it,” she gushed.

One thing she liked was how easy it was to install the seat into the car. “The first couple of times I needed to go on both sides to make sure it clicked in place, but after that I was able to get it clicked in on both sides all at once.” Once installed, she told us that “it does feel secure when locked into the bars, which is something I was worried about since it doesn’t have a base.”

Despite her initial concerns, Sarah is a big fan of the Nuna MIXX and PIPA urbn pairing. “I love that it has a one-handed release button—it makes it so easy to get it out of the car.” She found it lightweight and a lot easier to carry than other car seats she’s used. “Overall I’m really impressed with how easy it is to use, lift and carry this car seat.” Sounds good to us!

Stroller features

The Nuna MIXX Next has many noteworthy features, but our product tester paid particular attention to a few key aspects that set this stroller apart from the crowd. “The two features I love most about the stroller are the recline for newborns and babies under 6 months of age and the fact that you can face the seat either way (facing towards you or out).” As our tester’s child is only 2-months-old, she only used the stroller in a reclined position as per safety guidelines, but she did appreciate the multiple options: “The seat reclines and clicks into multiple different positions, which is great since every baby has a different preference.” Aside from the built-in seating arrangements, “I love that I have the option to either use the car seat in the stroller, or I can just take my baby out of the car seat and place them in the stroller with the seat in recline.” Another feature our product tester mentioned was the canopy. “It’s UPF 50+ and water resistant, but it also has ventilation panels so baby can get good air circulation.”

While Sarah loved the stroller features there was one thing that she felt was lacking. “The only thing I really wish this had was a cupholder included on the stroller,” she told us. While she noted that it is possible to buy a separate stroller organizer , she said that “I’d love to be able to put my phone somewhere, maybe my keys and a drink. I know there’s a pocket on the back of the seat to put your phone, but that’s only good for if you’re using the seat facing away from you. If you’re using it facing towards you (like for newborns) or using the car seat, you don’t have anywhere to put a phone or keys.” While this issue is definitely worth flagging, our product tester said that it was a minor bugbear that didn’t really affect her overall opinion on the features of the stroller.

Style and design

nuna mixx travel system

Given that you’ll use it everyday, your stroller should match your style aesthetic. And that was certainly the case with the Nuna MIXX Next and our product tester. “The stroller looks really modern and sleek in its design. I like the ‘leatherette’ handles, as it makes the stroller feel really luxe,” she told us. It comes in seven colors but our product tester handled the caviar colorway and likes the black and brown combo. “I don’t feel like the black makes the fabric hot or anything like that, so I wouldn’t put that into consideration when choosing between the black or gray colorways,” she said.

In summary: “Overall I’m really happy with the look and design of the stroller and don’t have any suggestions other than maybe offer it in more colorways for others to choose from. But black goes with everything and it looks great to me!”

Value for money

nuna mixx travel system

The Nuna MIXX Next stroller is priced at $800 on its own, but is also available in a bundle alongside the PIPA urbn car seat for $1,200. “This travel system definitely has a higher price point than some other travel systems. But I do think that it’s worth the price,” says our product tester. “As you can use the car seat or the newborn full recline for the stroller, and then can use the seat up to 50 pounds you’ll get a lot of use out of this—quite possibly from birth till 4 or 5 years of age,” she explains.

Another key selling point for our product tester was the fact that the car seat is baseless, as “/[it] makes it so much easier to travel with one less stroller item to carry around.” Admittedly, it is expensive but our tester says that “it really is worth the money as long as you’re looking for something with all its features, are going to get good use out of it for multiple years and plan on traveling.”

nuna mixx travel system

Our final question for our product tester was: would you recommend this stroller? And her answer was a resounding yes. “I would definitely recommend this travel system!” she responded. “The car seat not needing a base to use in your car … and the many different ways you can recline the stroller seat and have it face in either direction are the main reasons why I think this travel system is great and why I’d recommend it,” she told us.

More Thoughts From The Bump Community

In May of 2023, The Bump editors conducted a survey of 300 new and expectant parents from among our community, and asked what type of stroller they used and whether or not they liked it. Below, find a selection of feedback from survey respondents who have firsthand experience with the Nuna MIXX Next stroller:

“It's easy to fold (though not one-handed), feels sturdy, offers great sun coverage, and has great style and design. That said, it's very expensive.” - Heather*, parent of one and The Bump survey respondent

“It's probably bigger than we (and our compact car) need; it can only accommodate one, right-hand cup holder for no obvious reason.” - Heather*, parent of one and The Bump survey respondent

Nuna MIXX Next review

An excellent, affordable, all-terrain stroller.

a photo of the Nuna Mixx Next stroller

Tom's Guide Verdict

This is a well-priced, well-designed stroller, that’ll easily take you from the busy city streets to off-road walks around the park. It doesn’t handle all terrains as easily as some of the other strollers on test, but we found the fold one of the best out there, and the price tag is impressive.

Easy fold mechanism

One of the easiest strollers on the market to build

Self-stand feature when folded

Good adjustable handlebar for taller parents

Allows for one-handed steering

Bassinet not included

One of the heavier strollers on test

Toddler seat not as generous as others on test

Why you can trust Tom's Guide Our writers and editors spend hours analyzing and reviewing products, services, and apps to help find what's best for you. Find out more about how we test, analyze, and rate.

The Nuna Mixx Next is the brand’s updated all-terrain stroller, designed to handle the curbs and narrow sidewalks of the city, as well as longer walks around the park on the weekend. It’s got some stand-out features that make it a great choice for new parents, or anyone shopping for a single stroller — the secure snap that keeps the stroller folded together is genius, and makes leaving the stroller folded in the boot or hallway easier.

Stroller weight: 26 pounds (chassis and seat) Max weight: From birth until approximately age 4 (48 lbs) Handlebar height: 41- 44 inches Underseat basket capacity: n/a

But how does it compare to some of the other best strollers on the market, and who should choose this stroller over the likes of the Bugaboo Fox 5 or the iCandy Peach 7 ? To find out more, we put the Nuna Mixx Next through several different tests to look at the build quality and maneuverability on different terrains. I wanted to see how easy it was to get the stroller in and out of my car boot, on and off the bus, and around a muddy dog walk. Read my full Nuna Mixx Next review below to find out more.

Nuna MIXX Next review: Price and availability

The Nuna Mixx Next is one of the most affordable all-terrain strollers in our test. You can buy the chassis and seat for $800/£660, which makes it a lot more affordable than some of the other options on the market. If you have a younger baby, you’ll need to also purchase the Nuna carrycot for an additional $200/£200.

The Nuna Mixx Next stroller comes in several different colorways to suit every parent’s style — all of the color varieties have the same luxury vegan leather-look brown handle and child armbar. At the time of writing, the pushchair comes in six different colors. During testing, I used the Caviar, or black stroller.

Nuna MIXX Next review: Design and key features

I’ll start with how simple the Nuna Mixx Next was to put together, as this is a job you’ll inevitably be doing while pregnant, or with a toddler in tow. The Nuna Mixx Next was one of the easiest strollers on test to build — in fact, the entire build took around 15 minutes, and unlike some of the other buggies on test, I didn’t need to watch a YouTube video to ensure I was following the steps in the right order. The instructions were super-clear and made it easy to slot the wheels into place and build the seat.

a photo of the Nuna MIXX Next

Unlike other strollers on test, I didn’t test the carrycot with the Nuna Mixx Next, only the chassis and seat. The carrycot comes separately, as mentioned above, and can easily be clicked onto the chassis. The carrycot folds flat, which is a clever design, especially if you’re short on boot space, and can be used for overnight sleeping if you’re traveling to visit relatives.

Once constructed, the pushchair felt sturdy and I was impressed with the quality of the fabrics, which look built to last. I liked how even when folded, the fabric of the seat and the leatherette handlebars weren’t resting on the ground, minimizing scuffs and muddy marks on the seat.

Key design features

But what makes the Nuna Mixx Next stand out from the crowd? As mentioned above, I loved how easy it was to fold and unfold this pushchair — in fact, it was one of my favorites on test, despite not being the lightest stroller to lift in and out of the car. Compared to the original Nuna Mixx stroller, with the Nuna Mixx Next, released in 2020, Nuna has added something called a MagneTech Secure Snap — this is a magnetic buckle that automatically locks the pushchair in place when folded, allowing you to lift it easily into the car, or stand it on it’s side in your hallway without it unfolding and falling. It’s genius and something I wish other brands would adopt.

On first impression, I thought this stroller was taller than others on test, but this is down to the seat sitting high on the frame, lifting your little one higher. The seat can be turned inwards or forward facing and has five recline settings, which can be adjusted with one hand. The higher seat also means the stroller can double as a highchair when out and about. The iCandy Peach 7 has a similar feature, although lifting the seat requires extra adaptors, which you don't need with the Nuna Mixx Next.

The tires of the Nuna Mixx Next are tough and designed to cope with multiple terrains. They are foam-filled to minimize punctures if you’re going off-road. There’s also a large UPF 50+ sun canopy that extends down over the child for nap times, with a flip-out eyeshade when the sun is shining, ventilation windows, and a peep window so you can check on your tot when on the move.

a photo of the ventilation on the hood of the Nuna MIXX Next

Finally, I appreciated the large two-compartment basket, which has a secret zipped pocket. While I probably wouldn’t zip my phone into the basket of my stroller, it’s a handy place to store items you don’t want rattling around in the basket. There’s also a zipped pocket on the back of the seat which does fit your phone and keys, should you wish.

Nuna MIXX Next review: Performance

I tested all of the strollers in our best stroller test using different weights to test maneuverability as your child grows, as well as with my 21-pound nephew. I set up cones to imitate getting around tight corners in the supermarket and went to various locations to test the Nuna Mixx Next on hills, mud, and gravel.

I was impressed with the maneuverability of the Nuna Mixx Next, which handled tight turns well. It wasn’t quite as smooth on uneven ground as the Bugaboo Fox 5 was, but I never had any issue with the wheels getting stuck on muddy woodland walks, or being unable to handle sand on the beach. The stroller didn’t feel particularly wide, especially due to its all-terrain tires, and I didn’t struggle to get it through smaller spaces.

a photo of the vegan handlebar on the Nuna MIXX Next

Compared to the brake on the iCandy Peach 7, which wasn’t sandal-friendly, the large break on the Nuna Mixx Next was a joy to use, and easily clicked on and off with the touch of a button. I didn’t need to worry about accidentally leaving the stroller unlocked, as it was easy to see at a glance that it was.

I also liked the little extras the stroller came with — there’s an all-season seat, that is designed to keep the baby cosy in the winter, but also convert to mesh in the summer. The stroller also came with a rain cover for when the weather changes.

a photo of the Nuna MIXX Next brake

The only downside I found when testing the stroller was that the footrest plastic wasn’t particularly sturdy, especially compared to some of the others in the test. I found that wasn’t anywhere obvious for a toddler to rest their legs, especially when lying flat in the stroller, and I wondered how comfortable they’d be during longer naps without a sturdy foot rest.

Nuna MIXX Next review: Verdict

The Nuna Mixx Next is a great, affordable, all-terrain stroller for those who want to navigate around different surfaces with ease. It feels luxurious, and the huge basket and lockable fold really stand out from some of the other buggies on test.

That said, if you have a taller toddler, or a toddler who likes to nap in the stroller, this might not be the best for you, as the lack of footrest might be an issue. From birth and for the first few years, however, this is a good all-rounder, with a quality feel and a smooth, comfortable ride.

Customer Reviews

Very excited about this bundle! It’s super easy to put together, fold up, and the baseless car seat is a dream. Our baby girl is going to love it!

This system is very intuitive! And what's not is quickly understood after a quick read of the manual. I was hopeful (but nervous) about the URBN click-in system and it's fantastic.

It’s great! We loved it. Makes it easy to move our baby from the place to place.

I love both the design and how practical their car seat is. All the accessories it carries make it unique.

We order this bundle for our first baby and the quality is exceptional. The bundle is convenient and strolleria made it simple to order. I definitely recomend this!

Deciding Between Nuna and Uppababy? Our Parenting Editor Tested Their Most Popular Strollers Head-to-Head

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links."

In the past few years, luxury strollers have dominated the baby market, with two of the biggest names in the game being Uppababy and Nuna . People, myself included, love these brands and their strollers, which are known for their high-quality materials, contemporary styling, and reliable performance. Nuna and Uppababy are even a favorite among celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Joe Jonas, Jessica Alba , Beyonce, and Khloe Kardashian, who are frequently photographed pushing their littles in these reputable strollers.

[table-of-contents] stripped

Founded just a year apart in the 2000s — Uppababy in 2006 and Nuna in 2007 — they came into the U.S. market at a time when there were just a few options for high-end strollers. They promised a new kind of bougie baby carriage that combined style and utility in a way that most other strollers of the time simply were not delivering on. Don't get me wrong, there were some killer affordable strollers available, but they weren't giving.

Uppababy and Nuna eventually added car seats to the mix, adding another layer to their business and providing another product for brand loyalists to purchase. This allowed them to eschew offering universal adapters in favor of their own infant car seats . In the past few years, Nuna has started making car seats for other stroller brands like Stokke and Bugaboo.

For this matchup, I will strictly focus on strollers, as they're the most sought-after Uppababy and Nuna products from the two brands that have become synonymous with one another for their quality and price. I've also spent the most time testing these strollers, and they are, unsurprisingly, the companies' biggest sellers. They're also standout products all on their own. While the car seats are great, there are a lot of fantastic car seats on the market. However, people love the Nuna and Uppababy strollers because they're so well-made, they are incredibly convenient, and there is a certain level of social status attached to these strollers. Car seats are largely unseen by others, but strollers? Everyone is looking.

I chose three strollers from each brand: a double stroller, a single stroller, and a lightweight stroller to do the most apples-to-apples comparisons — all of which are sold at similar price points. I looked at each stroller from every possible angle to see just how similar and how different they really are.

The Biggest Differences Between Nuna and Uppababy Strollers

Essentially, for every Uppababy stroller, there's a similar stroller in the Nuna line, and vice versa. The only place this does not ring true is with running strollers (Uppababy has the Ridge stroller, and Nuna does not yet have a running stroller in their line). Both brands offer a similar look and feel to their strollers with premium fabrics, leather or leatherette-wrapped handles, and all-terrain wheels. There are, however, a few major differences between the line of Uppababy and Nuna strollers. Those fall in the accessories, the double stroller models, and folding. These differences are critical whether you're buying for yourself or for a loved one.

Accessories

For accessories, in the Uppababy line, the bassinet is universal between the Vista and the Cruz, and it only costs $199. The Nuna has different bassinets for their Mixx and Demi strollers, and if you're looking to purchase them separately, they can be a bit difficult to find. Most of the time, they're only available as a combined bassinet and stand, which costs around $400.

Double Stroller Options

The Nuna and Uppababy both have single-to-double (or triple, in the case of the Vista V2 and Demi Grow ) modular strollers available. The difference is that the Uppababy acts more like a true double stroller, even though you have to purchase your second seat separately. It has multiple configurations available to you, and you don't lose cargo capacity. With the Nuna Demi strollers, you also need to purchase the second seat separately, but when you have it in two-seater mode, you lose the cargo compartment, as baby is essentially sitting in the cargo compartment, as the bottom seat faces into it.

When it comes to folding, this is where the Nuna shines. They have mastered the one-hand, one-step fold, and they fold up smaller and more easily than the Uppababy. Each seat is just a bit more compact, with more folding options, and it's very intuitive.

How We Tested

I've spent hundreds of hours pushing strollers, with Nuna and Uppababy strollers being two of the brands I've tested the most extensively. In order to thoroughly put them head to head, I took them all out for a spin again to refresh my memory and, in the case of the Mixx, get a better feel for it overall. I compared the stroller's apples-to-apples style, choosing the models that most closely resemble each other. For strollers with bassinet or car seat attachments, I tested them with their matching bassinets or car seats to see how they perform with different configurations. The double strollers were tested with two kids, and if there was the option for a scooter board, that was also tested.

Why Trust Us

The team at Best Products has been testing and recommending products for almost a decade, testing hundreds of products each year. Personally, I have been in the parenting space since 2011 (a parent since before that), and I've tested dozens of strollers , car seats , wagons , and more. I am in constant contact with the brands and other parents, learning the market from all sides so that I can help you make an informed purchase, whether you're buying for yourself or a loved one.

Nuna Demi Next vs Uppababy Vista V2

Demi Next Stroller + Ride Along Board

nordstrom.com

Vista V2 Stroller

There's a lot to like about both of these strollers and they truly each have their place. They share a lot more similarities than they do differences, and that's a common theme for these two brands. I chose these as the first two to compare between the two brands because they are the most-asked-about strollers that I cover, and they are both double strollers that can carry car seats, have bassinets available, and have available scooter (rider) boards.

The Nuna Demi Next or Grow costs $950 for one seat, a stroller, and a scooter board, with an additional seat costing $250, and the bassinet package is $400. The Uppababy Vista V2 package comes with the stroller, one seat, and the bassinet for $999. The scooter board is $134 , and the rumble seat is $199 . That puts you all in at $1,600 for the Demi Next/Grow (with everything mentioned) and $1,332 for the Vista V2.

The materials have an almost identical feel, and both are reliably sturdy. I will say that the all-season mesh seat on the Nuna Demi is a bit more breathable than that of the Uppababy, so if you know that your babies tend to be sweaty or if you live in a particularly humid or hot climate, the Nuna may be the better choice for you.

The handle of the Uppababy is wrapped in premium leather with a perforated texture, and I found that it does feel more comfortable to hold and ages better than the Nuna leatherette handle. However, the Nuna stroller is a full six inches taller, and the handlebar telescopes further than the Uppababy, so if you're a tall family, the Nuna is going to win on that angle.

Both have easily visible and easy-to-employ braking mechanisms, and both steer really well. The Nuna has a dual suspension that allows it to glide over stranger terrains a bit more easily, and it has a tighter turning ratio than the Uppababy. That being said, the front wheels on the Nuna tend to be a bit more precious than the front wheels on the Uppababy and they need adjusting more frequently. Both strollers have foam-filled tires that can truly take a beating, though.

One thing I noticed about the Demi is that they have a front-wheel locking ability that keeps the wheels in a forward-facing direction that's great if you're on a slope when you want to stay put, but they can be a bit of a pain to release and engage, and a few times they engaged when I didn't touch them, between opening and folding the stroller. (Never while the stroller was in motion.)

The canopy on the Uppababy Vista and the Nuna Demi are comparable, and both are UPF 50+ rated, but the canopy on the Vista is larger and glides into place a bit more easily. That being said, the Nuna's canopy is easier to remove for cleaning purposes. They both have peekaboo windows on the top, with Nuna's magnets making it easier to operate and Uppababy's being slightly larger. Nuna has a built-in net for mosquitoes, but it's not as large as the mosquito net that's provided with the Vista, and I noticed it smells a bit more of the plastic it comes wrapped in for a bit longer than the Vista. It is, however, more convenient.

The seats of the stroller are where we're going to hit rocky territory with the Demi and Uppababy. The Uppababy Vista V2 has the ability to have two places of attachment, but the seats are not the same, and they don't have the same weight capacity and the third is a scooter board. That's also true for the Nuna Demi Grow model, but it feels more crowded than the Vista due to the seat positioning. The primary seat is the one on the top, and it has a 50-pound capacity, but the jump seat that fits to the lower part of the stroller has only a 35-pound capacity.

The Demi's seats each have a 50-pound capacity and are basically the same. That said, the only place to put the second seat is in the bottom facing the person pushing the stroller, which eliminates the cargo compartment. Also, some riders don't love the fact that their legs are essentially always in the elevated position. One of my testers would violently protest sitting on the bottom because he couldn't see anything and his legs "weren't free."

They each have a wide range of seat configurations and car seat placements available, but the Vista allows for rear and forward-facing seats on the bottom, which the Nuna does not, which can spell disaster for kids who suffer from motion sickness.

That brings us to the cargo compartment, which is once again a sticky area. Nuna will win every time in one area of this, and that's the very front of the basket. It is flush with the bottom of the footrest of the seat, which keeps everything in the basket at all times for the most part, while the Vista has a gap of several inches, where stuff can and does occasionally escape. However, the cargo basket goes away when you put the second seat in the Nuna, as I said before, and it has a lower weight capacity of 23 pounds compared to Vista's 30. (Though I've definitely done my fair share of going over that limit — think kids, plus a 36-pack of soda and diapers!)

I love that both the Vista V2 and the Demi feature no-rethread harnesses that are easy to adjust and remove for cleaning. I prefer Demi clasps because they're magnetic and easier to use. Both brands lose points on the areas of the seats around the harness, though, because, like every stroller, these areas do tend to get gross, but neither the Vista nor the Demi has machine-washable fabrics, and really, that's a damn shame.

Both strollers have an available "rider board" or "scooter board." The Demi comes with the board, while the Vista requires an additional $134 scooter board purchase. I found both to be perfectly adequate and reasonably useful additions to the stroller. They're pretty identical overall and are nice to have as your kids get older when they don't want to be in the seat of a stroller, but they don't want to walk all the time, either. If you're giving these to a family of three, you can't go wrong with either.

The bassinet attachment comes included with the Vista, and that's no small purchase, considering the bassinet and stand are an additional cost of $400 for the Demi . Both are suitable for overnight sleeping and naps and again, they're virtually identical. As far as the stands for the bassinets go, I prefer the Nuna's click-in stand to the Uppababy's wooden stand , that is not included, and costs $160.

Winner: I suggest the Nuna Demi for families with kids spaced a bit further apart than the Uppababy Vista and the Vista for parents of twins or born close together.

Nuna Mixx Next vs. Uppababy Cruz V2

Mixx Next Stroller

bloomingdales.com

CRUZ V2 Stroller in Greyson

In my opinion, the Mixx Next and the Cruz V2 are the most apples-to-apples strollers of the bunch. They are both single strollers with the ability to be used with their respective company's car seats, the Nuna Pipa and the Uppababy Mesa . They both have optional bassinet attachments, neither have machine washable fabrics (get on that, y'all), and both have fantastic suspensions with big ol' wheels. The Nuna Mixx seat pad can be washed in the machine, but I found that even on the most gentle cycle, the pad got a bit lumpy.

The Nuna Mixx Next is $800 for just the stroller (including the seat), and the bassinet and stand are, once again, a cool $400, putting you all in at $1,200. The Uppababy Cruz V2 is $699, the bassinet is $200, the scooter board is $120 , and the infant snug seat is $50, putting you all in (but with more options) at $1069. There are packages for both that include their own proprietary car seats for an additional cost of about $400 a piece.

Don't worry — there are several bones I have to pick with each one and many praises to heap upon them. First, the size! Once again, Nuna is winning at life with their folding, and their height. The telescoping handle and larger wheels are really giving "We're hoping Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce use this stroller in all of their vertical glory if they have a kid" (for all of the non-Swifties out there, that translates to this stroller being perfect for tall people). The Uppababy is great and a decent size and it's wrapped in genuine leather vs. the Nuna's leatherette, but it simply doesn't compete for the extra tall like myself and those in my gigantic family. Basically, if you've ever been asked if you play basketball, you need the Nuna. If you're under 6-foot-3, the Uppababy is perfection. I'd go so far as to say that if you're on the more petite side, the Cruz is going to be your bestie for the height and for the weight of the stroller. The Nuna folds up smaller than the Cruz, but it's still a few pounds heavier.

Unlike the Nuna, the Uppababy Cruz cannot carry an infant without an infant seat insert on its own without the bassinet or the car seat attachment. However, the Cruz's bassinet is more affordable than the Nuna's and universal to the brand. So, if you're looking for one stroller that's easy peasy from day one, the Nuna may be it if you're using, say, a Maxi Cosi or Chicco car seat and don't want to fuss with a bassinet.

The cargo compartments of the Nuna Mixx and the Uppababy Cruz are similarly sized, but once again, the Uppababy has a higher weight limit: 30 pounds compared to the Nuna Mixx's 10 pounds. I could do without the Uppababy's cargo net gap in the front of the stroller, where things fly out on the occasion of a hard stop. If you're getting a stroller for someone who lives in a city and tends to haul a ton of crap like us, the Cruz wins.

One important aspect of the Uppababy Vista that I feel I should mention when it comes to their Cruz stroller is that Uppababy has car seat adapters that can be used with a variety of seats, like the Maxi Cosi, Clek, or Chicco. The Nuna only accepts the Nuna Pipa car seat models, so if you're not a brand enthusiast and you want to use the car seat in the stroller, the only one that you can choose is one from the Uppababy line.

I love the easy-to-operate rear braking systems in both the Mixx and the Cruz. They use a red/green color model to guide parents on which way to brake and which way to release the brake.

The Uppababy Cruz's canopy is significantly bigger than the Nuna Mixx's, which will provide much more shade to your baby. This is a great feature because the seat isn't the all-weather mesh that the Mixx has, so cool air is needed in super-hot or muggy climates, so this is really the better choice if your giving it to someone who lives in, say, Florida or Houston.

Speaking of the seat, the Nuna's is a lie-flat traditional seat while the Cruz features a bucket-like seat that reclines in a way that the feet are always a bit elevated. No babies complained about this, but it does change how you fold the seat and who can sit in it. The Nuna Mixx Next has magnetic buckles that are easy to engage, but they do get sticky quicker than the Cruz.

Winner: I love both of these strollers and pushing both of them, so choosing between the two is basically impossible for someone like me. For the reasons I just stated, if you're a tall couple who doesn't mind using a Nuna car seat (which are great, by the way), the Nuna Mixx Next is your best option. If you're a more average-height parent or a petite parent and you want more car seat compatibility, the Cruz is an excellent choice.

Nuna Trvl vs. Uppababy Minu

Trvl Stroller

Minu V2 Travel Stroller Lightweight

If you're looking to give your loved one the gift of on-the-go ease, you're going to want a travel stroller. The Minu and the Trvl are the lightweight strollers on this list going head-to-head, both of which are virtually the same size (shocking, I know!). In both folded and unfolded modes, they're both petite, compact strollers — their features, however, are anything but. Since these are travel strollers , they're meant to be lightweight and easy to fold. They're the modern-day equivalent of the umbrella strollers of yesteryear, and both the Nuna and the Uppababy do a great job when it comes to on-the-go convenience.

The Uppababy Minu's base model without a car seat or bassinet is $399. The Nuna Trvl's base model without the car seat is $450. The Trvl, unlike the Minu, the Trvl is not compatible with a bassinet.

Both the Uppababy Minu and the Nuna Trvl can hold car seats with their adapters, but only the Minu can be used with the (Uppababy) bassinet. Both strollers on their own are really only suitable for babies aged 3 months and up because they are not built for babies without head control.

The seats themselves are similar, but once again, Nuna has a more breathable seat and magnetic buckles. Uppababy's feels more luxe, but the buckles require a bit more assistance, and the seat doesn't have an all-weather mesh back.

Folding these strollers is a cinch — once you learn how. While the Trvl has a simple fold mechanism that basically folds itself, the Minu has a one-handed fold that admittedly takes a moment to learn. What I especially like about the Minu in this department vs the Trvl is that the Minu's seat always stays off the ground, even in the folded mode. Portions of the canopy and the seat of the Trvl hit the ground when folded, and that leads to quicker wear on those parts, in my opinion.

The canopies are similarly sized, with the Minu's extending just a bit further. And if I could scream this at the sky and have the manufacturers hear me I would beg for machine-washable fabrics all over the seat, pad and canopy included (!). If other brands can do it, so can the bougie brands.

The cargo compartments are basically the same size and shape, but Nuna can't seem to get more than a 10-pound weight limit on these. The Minu's weight limit is 20 pounds. The Minu has more available accessories like an accessory tray, bug net, weather shield, and phone holders. The Trvl has a weather shield, cup holder, and universal footmuff, but honestly, I prefer third-party stroller covers in this instance.

Winner: This is the one stroller in the line where I will tell you that I prefer the Uppababy Minu over the Nuna Trvl. Simply put, the design is cleaner and better, and the fact that it doesn't brush the ground is a major win for me. It also has more range than the Trvl, even though folding it is a little more challenging.

To Sum it Up

Nuna and Uppababy are stroller titans in this industry for good reason. Their strollers and their car seats, along with accessories, are tough to beat, and comparing them to each other is not easy. I love all of these strollers for different reasons, and I do think there's a stroller in these lines for any family — if they're in your budget, which is a big if. These strollers are aspirational for many families, and if you can't afford them, worry not — there are so many reliable and affordable stroller options at so many price points. But if you're splurging on a loved one? We say "go for it."

While there is no clear winner for the double stroller picks, I will say that the Nuna Demi wins for the tall people among us, and the Vista wins at configurations and cargo basket. For single strollers, you get a slightly easier stroller for your money with the Nuna Mixx, but the Cruz has more overall compatibility with other accessories. For the travel stroller, I pick the Minu every time because I just think it's a better design and more useful overall.

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

Russia’s BN800 fast reactor fully fuelled with mox

!{Model.Description}

MOX fuel assemblies within the BN-800 fast reactor core

Beloyarsk 4 was connected to the grid and resumed electricity production after the completing its latest regular maintenance and refuelling outage. It was refuelled with mox fuel assemblies (FAs) produced at the Mining and Chemical Combine (MCC) in Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory). Unlike the enriched uranium FAs traditionally used in NPPs, the raw materials for the production of mox fuel pellets includes plutonium oxide obtained during the processing of used fuel from conventional VVER reactors alongside depleted uranium oxide, obtained by defluorination of depleted uranium hexafluoride (DUHF – “tails" from enrichment production).

The first serial mox-FAs were loaded into the BN-800 core in January 2020. The first complete refuelling of the BN-800 with mox fuel took place in January 2021, and then, over the next two refuellings, all fuel assemblies were gradually replaced with innovative mox assemblies.

Other important work performed during the outage of unit 4 included overhaul of the main circulation pump with the replacement of the removable parts, maintenance and repair of pumps, heat exchangers, steam generators and a turbogenerator. Also, the operational quality control of metal and welded joints of pipelines was carried out as well as tests of the system for monitoring the tightness of shells using a metrological assembly.

“Today, Beloyarsk NPP is one of the flagships bringing the Russian nuclear industry closer to a new technological platform based on a closed nuclear fuel cycle,” said Beloyarsk NPP Director Ivan Sidorov. “The use of mox fuel will make it possible to increase the fuel base of the nuclear power industry tenfold. And most importantly, in the BN-800 reactor, after appropriate processing, used nuclear fuel from other NPPs can be recycled.”

Alexander Ugryumov, Senior Vice President for Scientific and Technical Activities at TVEL said completing conversion of BN-800 to mox fuel is a long-awaited event for the nuclear industry. “For the first time in the history of the Russian nuclear power industry, we will be able to operate a fast neutron reactor with a full load of uranium-plutonium fuel and a closed nuclear fuel cycle. This is exactly the milestone for which the BN-800 was originally designed, a unique nuclear power unit supported by automated fuel production at the Mining and Chemical Combine. Advanced technologies for recycling nuclear materials will significantly expand the raw material base of nuclear energy by processing irradiated fuel instead of storing it, and it will also reduce the amount of waste generated.”

Industrial fabrication of mox fuel began at the end of 2018 at the MCC. To create this unique production, broad industry cooperation was organised under the coordination and scientific leadership of TVEL, which also acts as the supplier of mox FAs for the Beloyarsk NPP. Initially, during the start-up of the BN-800 reactor, a hybrid core was installed, partly equipped with uranium fuel produced by Mashinostroitelny Zavod in Elektrostal (Moscow Region), and partly with experimental mox fuel assemblies manufactured at the Research Institute of Atomic Reactors in Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region.
