Visit the UK as a Standard Visitor

Apply for a standard visitor visa.

If you need a Standard Visitor visa, you must apply online before you travel to the UK and attend an appointment at a visa application centre.

The earliest you can apply is 3 months before you travel.

You must meet the eligibility requirements and only do permitted activities .

Depending on your nationality, you may not need a visa to visit the UK. You can check if you need a visa before you apply.

You can apply for a Standard Visitor visa, or if you visit the UK regularly you can choose to apply for a long-term Standard Visitor visa instead.

Apply online

Once you’ve started your application you can save your form and complete it later.

If you’re applying with family members, each person must have their own application and pay the fee. They need to attend their own appointment at a visa application centre.

You can apply on behalf of your partner and child, if they cannot apply for themselves.

Your application will not be accepted and you will not get a refund if you have the right of abode in the UK (for example you’re a British citizen). You need to apply for a certificate of entitlement instead.

Continue your application

You can sign back into your application if you’ve saved it.

Find out how to sign in to your account .

Long-term Standard Visitor visas

You can choose to apply for a long-term Standard Visitor visa if you visit the UK regularly. This visa lasts 2, 5 or 10 years. You can stay for a maximum of 6 months on each visit.

If you’re under 18 years old when you apply , your long-term Standard Visitor visa will only be valid for up to 6 months after you turn 18. You cannot get a refund on the fee.

You may be given a shorter visa than requested if UK Visas and Immigration ( UKVI ) believe you cannot meet the eligibility requirements for the duration of the visa you applied for.

You will not get a refund of the application fee if you get a shorter visa or if your application is refused.

Your visa may be cancelled if your travel history shows you are repeatedly living in the UK for extended periods.

Documents and information you’ll need to apply

You must have a passport or travel document that is valid for the whole of your stay in the UK. There must be a blank page in your passport for your Standard Visitor visa.

You’ll need to provide the following information in your online application:

  • the dates you’re planning to travel to the UK
  • where you’ll be staying during your visit
  • how much you think your trip will cost
  • your current home address and how long you’ve lived there

At your appointment, you’ll need to:

  • prove your identity with your passport or travel document
  • have your fingerprints and photograph (known as ‘biometric information’) taken
  • provide the required documents that show you’re eligible for a Standard Visitor visa

The visa application centre may keep your passport and documents while processing your application.

How long it takes to get a decision

Once you’ve applied online, proved your identity and provided your documents, you’ll usually get a decision on your visa within 3 weeks.

You can check to see if you can get your visa decision faster .

You’ll get an email or a letter containing the decision on your application . This will explain what you need to do next.

If you need to change or cancel your application

If you need to change something in your application after you’ve sent it, contact UKVI .

: British national, currently on a 30day visit visa in the Philippines. I have a child whose mother is a Filipino national, residing in the Philippines, he has dual nationality (British/Filipino) Can I apply for a retirement visa?

The fact your child and their mother have Filipino citizenship has no bearing on a retirement visa in the Philippines. As a UK citizen, you are eligible for the SRRV (Special Resident Retirement Visa) if you meet the age and financial requirements. Were you thinking of applying for a marriage visa instead?

Respectfully,

does the uk have military ties with the Philippines? I am 78 years of age ex Royal Navy 10 years retired and looking for a cheap residency visa. If possible what are the conditions of the visa?

Happy New Year. The UK military does have ties with the Philippines, meaning you qualify for the cheaper SRRV Expanded Courtesy, provided you were honorably discharged.

If you would like help with your SRRV application and avoid the hassles of dealing with the Philippine Immigration Bureaucracy, let’s talk.

Hi I’m looking for some help with a tourist visa, I’m a UK citizen and want to know my options for extension upon arrival. How does that work?

You are in luck; the United Kingdom is one of the 157 countries that get visa-free entrance into the Philippines . You are allowed 30 days visa-free on arrival, then can extend 29 days on a visa waiver at a Bureau of Immigration office. After 59 days, you can extend up to 6 months at a time for three years.

Here are the step-by-step instructions for the visa extension process.

If you prefer us to handle the process and save you the hassle of dealing with the Bureau of Immigration, reach out to us.

Hi, I am considering to move the Philippines to be with my partner (Filipino), what should I have to do? Please note that I am British national, unemployed (difficult finding a job in UK) and profoundly deaf.

Is there any disabilities benefits to support me for living because I am profoundly deaf and IBD? I noticed there is ‘Person with Disability’, I am not sure if I am entitled to it because I am foreigner.

Is there any advices about moving to the Philippines? Also what is the best way to find a job there too?

Which shall I apply correct Visa too? I am staying under 30 days free Visa to start with in May 2023 and will considering to extend to living there when I am at there.

I also having medication treatment (Infusion for IBD) every 4 weeks in UK, how that is work for in the Philippines? and do I need to get medical insurance for this?

I am more happy for you to email me to discussion about this.

Looking forward to your message soon.

Thanks for reaching out. For your trip in May, don’t forget you need an onward travel ticket dated no more than 30 days from arrival. Even if you plan to stay longer than 30 days, you must show a flight out before that date. Stupid bureaucracy, I know. One recommendation is to get a “rented flight reservation" for $14 from this website.

For your other questions on the ability to work, the specific visa required, and health insurance, these are detailed questions that will depend on your particular situation. You can get a one-hour 1-on-1 consultation with a Philippine Immigration Specialist provide a customized, detailed plan to help you move to the Philippines.

Hi. I have a British partner and we are currently here in the United Kingdom. We plan to come back in the Philippines this October, he already visited Philippines last April for 30 days free visa. Does he need to apply for a tourist visa or he can get another 30 days free visa again on arrival? Thanks.

The Philippines has a very easy visa policy for UK citizens. He can get another 30 days visa-free when he arrives.

Hi, My father in law would like to retire to the Philippines, he is currently living in the UK. He is over 65, a British national and has the funds. I emailed the embassy who directed me to the PRA site for the SRRV and it looks like he will be fine to go for the Smile Visa. I have emailed the PRA to ask for more information, but whilst I wait I wanted to know a bit more about the process. I can see the form which needs to be filled in but am unsure of where to look at on how to book him into a medical. Once the form is filled, medical and police clearance (I assume this would be a DBS) are complete what do we do from there?

Hi Kaarina,

Any particular reason you like the SMILE? That program was really targeted toward younger (35 – 50) retirees. The CLASSIC is going to be cheaper for him and doesn’t lock up the $20,000 deposit in a bank.

You can read about the SRRV process and programs on these two articles.

SRRV Program Overview and Updates SRRV Visa Requirements and Process

Additionally, I offer PRA accredited Visa Specialists ready to help cut through the government red tape, simplify his immigration process, and make obtaining his SRR visa easier.

There are two options for assistance:

Do-it-yourself Visa Application with our help- This option is for the DIY-type that doesn’t mind the paperwork and dealing with government bureaucracy. A Visa Specialist will provide a one-hour consultation where you can ask questions, learn the pitfalls to avoid, and get a personalized plan on how to apply for the visa yourself.

Concierge Full-Service Visa- Have a Visa Specialist handle the filing and paperwork on your behalf. They handle the heavy lifting and deal with Immigration authorities to save you the headaches. Both options have the same starting point. Please complete this onboarding form to begin.

Questions, let me know.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I was unsure about the classic due to the investment part.

I will look further at the links and consider booking the 60 minute consultation.

As we are in the UK will the consultation take place over the phone or online, or is there an office in the UK to visit?

For the 60 minute consultation is this the reduced $49 or is there any more costs?

The office is in Makati, Philippines, so calls can be either phone or online (whatsapp, viber, google meet, etc.). We like video calls to see who we are speaking with, but whichever you prefer. $49 is the total price for the one-hour consultation. No additional charges.

Additionally, if you decide you want us to process your visa for you, we will reduce your visa cost by the $49.

Thank you, this is very helpful.

I will look at booking soon.

Helow sir, I have a friend from UK and wanted to visit the Philippines, he is a Medical Surgeon…What are the documents needed, for him to visit the Philippines..hoping for your response..

Hi Erlinda, UK citizens can enter the Philippines for up to 30 days visa-exempt. They only need a valid passport with 6 months of validity, an onward departure ticket , and complete the electronic ARRIVAL CARD (eARRIVAL CARD) form. After 30 days, they can extend. The process and requirements for Philippines visa extensions can be found here.

Where do I apply for a 13a marriage Visa to live with my wife who is in the Philippines?

Hi Wilf, You need to apply in a place where you are both physically present. If you are both in your home country, then you can apply for a 13a at the Philippines consulate . If you are both in the Philippines, then you apply for a 13a Probationary Visa at a Bureau of Immigration office. If you would like someone to help with your visa application , let us know.

Take note of every detail you will provide, such as this section below:

uk tourist visa questions sample

Do you have savings, properties or other income, for example from stocks and shares?

This will be about other means of income like passive income. In the example given, I put Yes for Stocks and Shares. I put N/A for the Total Monthly Income from stocks and shares because my income from stocks varies every month. To support this, I attached my Stock Certification from my broker.

What is the cost to you personally of your trip in GBP?

This will be the total expense for your trip in GBP.

The total amount of money you have for this trip.

This will be your total budget for the entire trip so it must exceed the total expense of your trip.

The cost of aeroplane, boat or train tickets.

This will be the cost of your roundtrip flights so the data on your flight reservation must be the same with this amount (in GBP).

The cost of your accommodation.

This will be the total cost of your hotel accommodations. Again, the amount must be similar to the amount from your hotel reservations.

Additional Information part

In this section, you can write everything you want to say that you think are important. Tell the consul valuable information they need to know regarding you and your application that was not provided in the previous parts of the application. You can also use this part to explain matters you think are worth mentioning.

Step 4: Schedule an Appointment and Pay the Visa Application Fee

Select a date for your appointment. Then, pay your visa application fee. The current Standard Visa fee is 100 GBP. Print your appointment confirmation and application form. You need to bring these documents to the UK Visa Centre (VFS Global).

Step 5: Gather the Documents Required

You can print out the checklist of UK Tourist visa requirements for Filipinos . In my case, I submitted the following (for self-employed applicants):

  • PSA Birth Certificate (I submitted a latest copy)
  • Philippine Passport
  • Old Passport with visa and travel stamps
  • Bank Statement (latest 6 months)
  • Bank Certificate
  • ITR (I submitted BIR Form 1701A since I’m self-employed with business)
  • DTI Permit (with my name and date the business started trading)
  • Mayor’s Permit (latest one)
  • Certificate of Stocks Investment
  • Travel Itinerary
  • Hotel Reservations
  • Roundtrip Flight Reservation

Step 6: Attend your Appointment at the UK Visa Centre (VFS Global)

Be there 15 minutes before your appointment time. The VFS Global handles visa applications for the United Kingdom and other countries like Australia, Canada, France, and many more. VFS Global is the middleman for visa applications. They forward the applications and documents to the embassies.

The address of VFS Global in Makati and Cebu are listed below:

VFS Global Makati Location: Mezzanine Floor Unit M01, Ecoplaza Building, 2305 Chino Roces Avenue Extension Makati City, Metro Manila 1231

VFS Global Cebu Location: 5th Floor, Kepwealth Center, Unit 503, Samar Loop cor. Cardinal Rosales Avenue, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City 6000

Step 7: Submit your Documents and Printed Application Form

I submitted original copies of my documents except for the ITR (Income Tax Return), DTI Business Name Registration, and Mayor’s Permit. VFS Global offers SMS and courier services for your UK tourist visa application.

Step 8: Have your Photo and Biometrics Taken

After the submission of documents, wait for your name to be called. You will then enter a room where VFS Global staff will capture your biometrics and photo. This is the last step at VFS Global. After this, you can go home and wait for your visa to arrive if you opt for the courier delivery of your passport. Otherwise, you can pick it up at VFS Global.

Step 9: Wait for your Visa Application Result

The nerve-wracking part is waiting for your visa approval. I got my passport with my visa after 15 days because I chose and paid for the regular processing. It was delivered to me via courier service. Since the pandemic occurred, it can take a longer processing time of 3-6 weeks.

Good luck! Comment below if you have any question.

Im currently employed po..wala pa po ako previous record na out of the country. Anything you might suggest its a big help po.. Thanks and advancexxx

Hi maam, this is my 3rd comment baka po ma reply nyo na ako this time. kaka received ko lang nung passport ko with refusal letter (sad) 🙁 stated in the reason of the refusal like this “Other than a business certificate and some tax documents, you have not provided satisfactory documentation to support that you are employed and earning as you state. You have not provided any pay receipts or your personal bank documents which would show your salary going into your account” yes i am registered as self-employed i handed over all my business registration docs, ITR return, bank documents both business account and personal account. now, sa reason ng refusal I did not provide “pay receipts” OR YOUR PERSONAL BANK DOCUMENTS” which is odd kasi i provided personal bank docs-certificate and statements covered 6 months transactions and, about pay receipt i assume this means pay slips! why need ko mag provide ng pay slips self-employed ako sole prop. yung business ko. upon reading your blog halos same tayo ng docs na sinubmit kasi as self-employed individual..nag avail ako ng documents scanning no receipt from VAC kung ilang piraso ang docs na na scan. may posibility kaya na na overlooked or di na scan nung VAC staff yung personal bank docs ko?? huhuhu nakakaiyak lang kasi aside dyan sa reason nila wala naman silang ibang reason of refusal. need lang po ng konting advise or any idea lang po kung ano ang possible na naging problem..

PLEASE NOTICE MAAM!

Hi, Rizza. Your submitted bank statement must have shown proof na doon pumapasok yung earnings mo from your business. Example, yung na-rereceive mong profit from your business dapat nag-rereflect monthly sa bank statement mo (sa credit section)

Hello mam,my boyfriend,a British citizen wants to invite me for a holiday and meet his family, and he will be paying for everything, since ive read the requirements and some of them,i must admit I’m not capable to provide,is it still possible for me to get a standard visitors visa? Your reply will be much appreciated. Thank you very much

Yes, you can apply for a Standard Visa. If your boyfriend will sponsor your trip, you need to submit documents to show they have sufficient resources to support you in addition to themselves and any dependant family should be provided according to the UK Immi site

Hi ! Just want to check did you have to pay twice for the uk visa application fee? hi mam planning to apply for uk visa for Christmas, first thing is i will be travelling with my bf(eu citizen) but his son is in uk so we are going to stay there-is it called sponsorship already? and also i will be travelling with my minor daughter, separate requirements po ba for her? thanks po in advance. i hope ma notice nyo po.

hi how much needed na savings para sa pag apply ng UK visa?

Hi 🙂 There is no specified “savings” requirement by embassies. You’ll know how much you’ll need according to your answer on the application form on the “Income and Expenditure” section. See the screenshot sample from the article above. Your money from your bank certificate must be more than enough to cover your expenses. Besides that, you must prove your employment and financial status.

Hi Ma’am, I am planning to visit my former employers of 25 yrs as per agreement before I came home for good from the UK 3 years ago. You mentioned about presenting the latest copy /PSA birth certificate. Do they actually require the latest copy of my birth certificate,or can I use an old copy which details tallies with my biometric passport? Your reply would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, Iam about to complete my online application, however since friday(June 21,2019) the site is currently down. I need to book my appointment this week cause my intended travel is on aug 2. What should i do? For the flight reservation, do they need to see the cost of the airfare or can i just submit the ticket itinerary (without the payment details). Thank you

Hi, Elle. The site is up and ok now 🙂 Yes, the cost of ticket is helpful to support your answer on the question about airfare

Hi! base on VFS Online System we are required to submit TB TEST Certificate but we only travel for 10 days. at the same time, in their website there is no less than 6 months to choose from. I hope someone can help me answer my query.

Hi. Did you avail of the document scanning in VFS service or you uploaded it yourself? I am in that stage wherein I need to upload the documents however I am not sure if I have the complete documents. Another thing, do I need to upload the document checklist as well – filled up or not? Thank you!

Hi EM 🙂 I did not avail the scanning since I personally submitted the documents at the VFS Global myself. I had the checklist and marked every item on the checklist that I was attaching to the application. Then the documents were arranged according to my checklist. The checklist is very important.

Aside from submitting the documents to VFS, it is required to upload the files in the VFS global website right? Additional question, for example someone will partly pay for the cost of my trip, would you know if I need to submit that someone’s bank certificate and statement as well? Thank you. Appreciate your response. 🙂

Hello Fehl. I want to do what you did by going personally to VFS and submitting all the docs, however I cannot book my appointment without going through their services? please help.

Yes, you have to schedule an appointment online first at VFS Global.

Good day..My name is Suzana a Filipino.I’m planning to visit UK again on October 2019. I visited London last April 2018..my son invited me to visit them. He is already a British national coz he work as a nurse for 12 yrs now in London.

I’m worried about what my friend told me. She was not allowed to enter in New Castle border just this June 2019 even though she has a visa for 6 month as a standard tourist visa..because she must wait after 2 yrs before going back to UK. I got scared and worried .

Is this the new regulation now..

Pls give me some advise.

God Bless..Thank you

Hi Didith. I booked my appointment online here https://myappointment.vfsglobal.co.uk/MyAppointment/ and I did not avail any of their services. My account was automatically created after completing the application form in https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/ . If you will not avail any of the VFS services, you will need to upload scanned copies of your documents in the website. They will no longer check your docs (except for the appointment confirmation letter and application form) during your appointment unless you availed of the scanning services. Physical copies of the docs will not be submitted as well. But to be sure, you should still bring your supporting documents. Hope this helps.

Hi Em! May I ask how your application went? I created an account on the same site you provided but I’m not sure if the beta version is the correct one to use >> > https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk

Hi Jeni. My application went well. I was actually granted with a multiple entry visa and I just came back from UK. Which is the beta version, the link I provided or yours? I think you can use either of the two. When I applied, I was in the visa4uk site at first but I saw this “You may be able to apply using our new service for visit visa applications…” and clicked the link of “new service” and I was redirected to the visas-immigration site.

Hello! I’m trying to book an appt at VFS global Makati since May 14, 2019 but all slots are for payment!!! Their website says they have standard slots/free but so far I could not find any. How do I get that standard slot? I’m applying for a standard tourist visa to London. No friends there, so if I could not get a standard slot, I will cancel /refund my USD 129. I refused to be ripped off by VFS!

I have the same problem. All of the slots given by VFS are attached to premium package which costs additional Php3300 on top of the visa fee. Although, a “free slot” is part of the legend but it does not show any time slot with no fee. How did you manage to get a “free slot” (the one with no additional cost) for the appointment?

Hi, according to the UK embassy, “where a third party (who is either in the UK or who will be legally in the UK at the time of your visit) is providing financial support to you e.g. a business, a friend or a relative, documents to show they have sufficient resources to support you in addition to themselves and any dependant family should be provided”

Hello ma’am, my passport is valid until march 2019 and I’m planning to travel to london by Jan 2019.. do i have to renew my passport now? Tnx

Hi ma’am,where did you get your reservation tickets,im in Singapore and i want to reserve asap, can you recommend a website or place in Philippine where i can get one?thank you so much ?

Hi, I’ve confirmed the form already but found out I need to change a detail in the form. Would you know how I can change it?

Thanks, Grace

Unfortunately, once you hit the confirmation, you cannot change or edit the form. That’s why there is a reminder there. If you have important detail to change in this situation, I suggest contacting the embassy

Hello, my daughter want me to meet in London and she paid all my the expenses hotel, food, tickets. Do I have to submit my business permit,DTI,income tax, bank saving. To get a VISA. My daughter is from US we meet in London. What documents should I submit.

Hi, if you are financially stable, have business, decent bank account, I recommend submitting copy of your DTI, Mayor’s permit, ITR, bank cert, SOA and the other docs mentioned in the article above. In your case, I don’t recommend you mention your sponsor as it could complicate your application and documents

How about if anyone sponsored my travel?

It would require more documents from the sponsor and you

Hi, because I am travelling with my husband and daughter do they need to register separately though it was asked who will i be travelling with and have also provide their information including the passport details? Thanks dear

HELLO, do i have to sumbmit the barcode separator with the requirements?

Hi, I did not submit bar code separator. The staff from the visa center was the one who arranged my documents. I think that is already included in the service I paid.

Hi, so I have a friend from the UK who will shoulder most of my expenses when I go there.. Should I ask for his bank statement and credit card statements too?

Also, do I need to provide a cover letter?

Hi, the requirements for applicants wanting to visit UK relatives and friends have another set of requirements that will be provided to you as you go along the steps at the gov.uk website

Hi, hope you could help me regarding UK Visitor Visa:

There’s a question in the application form, “Do you have savings, properties or other income, for example from stocks and shares?” If you answer yes, there’s a box below where you can add details like “Please Enter Details Total Monthly Income From Amount in GBP(£)”

So if for example I have a savings from my payroll account from work, is that consider as savings? Im confused if Im going to answer YES to this, then if i say yes there is a box to put the monthly income, so I’m gonna going to put my taxable monthly income there? THANK YOU.

Yes, in your case the savings on your payroll account is still a “savings account.” If you will submit that account as your Bank Certificate and Statement of Account, they will see the values anyway. Yes, monthly income that reflects on your Payslip. Payslip is required for employed individuals. Requirements for UK tourist visa are listed here: https://philpad.com/uk-tourist-visa-requirements-for-filipinos/

I suggest, you gather and complete your documents first so you know what value to put on the application form. Do not CONFIRM your application form until your answers are final.

Hi, Did you submit original copies of your stock investment certificates? or submitted photocopies with originals attached for reference? say I want to apply for both Korean and Japanese visa… I’m wondering if I could submit photocopies and present the originals if needed without turning them over?

Yes, I submitted original copies of my documents except for the ITR, DTI and Mayor’s Permit. I brought the original copies for verification though since the UK embassy requires original copies. Ask 3 copies of your Stock certification and also for bank cert and SOA if you will be applying visa for other countries.

Hello maam will a 1month old business permit or mayors permit is ok as the business is still new…? And my bank account is just 3months matured and the cost po is as one na nsa 400k ang naideposit sa isang buwan. Kasi po inilabas ko cash ideposit ko sa bank acct ko lang…

Hi, Divine 🙂 I hope someone with the same situation like you can answer that question here. I wonder bout that, too. I can only say embassies always look for strong ties that could convince them you’re going back to the Philippines. Since your business is new, in my own opinion, you need more strong proof like previous travels, first-world country visas, previous jobs/business with ITR, other source of income like investments/stocks. But then, that’s only my opinion. Embassies are unpredictable, only them know the answer with your situation 🙂

Thanks for posting this great information, this will be a quite useful for anyone who wishes to visit the UK. I’ve been in this application process last year and I’m so stressed about what I’m going to do first so I decided to let travel visa uk do it for me. I’m so grateful they make it easier for me.

My pleasure 🙂

Hello, does anyone knows if the VFS global system is down? I can’t book an appointment:( please help

Hi, is it necessary to have a hotel and flight reservation for UK tourist visa?

Hi, Fritz 🙂 Consistency always helps visas to get approved. Yes, I included hotel and flight reservations. The cost on my flight reservation is the amount I have put on the “The cost of aeroplane, boat or train tickets.” on the application form. They need to see that 🙂

You can make hotel reservations using booking.com even for free without paying. I paid $25 for my flight reservation though.

What should i write in Income and expenditure for child under 18 years unemployed? like what is cost to you personally on your trip?

Hi, I put 2500 for my cost non-including airfare and train tickets. See the screenshot and the explanations in the article above.

Traveling to the Philippines From the UK

Entry requirements for the philippines from the united kingdom.

New entry requirements for the Philippines : UK travelers need to complete the One-Stop electronic Travel Declaration system (originally the One Health Pass) to enter the Philippines. You can apply here .

The Philippine Government is committed to making travel easier and more accessible to international tourists and has recently introduced measures with this purpose in mind.

The Philippine government offers different types of visas for UK citizens seeking to visit the country.

These visas fall under two categories :

  • Non-immigrant permits

philippines-entry-requirements-uk-citizens

Travelers are encouraged to look through the different categories/sub-categories to see if they will be required to obtain a Philippines visa from the UK prior to visiting.

In the case of traveling to the Philippines as a tourist, there is now an easier way to obtain a permit for the country . The Philippine Government has launched an online Philippines eTA visa waiver application.

This allows eligible foreigners to apply for a Philippine eTA visa waiver from their homes or offices instead of having to visit a local embassy or consulate. The travel authorization is currently only available for citizens of Taiwan.

British citizens traveling to the Philippines

Brits should be aware that before boarding the plane to the Philippines, they will be required to show a ticket of onward or return travel from the country of origin.

In fact, some airlines can refuse to board a passenger if they don’t have a ticket or can suggest that the passenger purchase it there and then before they can continue with the onboarding process.

Other things Brits should keep in mind while traveling to the Philippines include the local customs regulations.

Certain items, like alcohol and tobacco, can be imported in limited amounts. Others, like firearms and weapons, are prohibited.

Do British Citizens Need an eTA for the Philippines?

British citizens are allowed visa-free entry into the Philippines for a stay of up to 30 days without the need to have an approved visa or travel authorization.

At the moment, a Philippines ETA for UK citizens is not required , as the electronic authorization system is only available for Taiwanese nationals. However, the program may be expanded to British citizens in the future .

In cases where a British national is aware that they will have to stay for a period of more than 30 days , they may have to acquire a visa prior to traveling to the country.

In other cases, British travelers can obtain an extension to their stay in the Philippines if they arrive on a visa-free basis but decide to stay longer. However, foreigners are usually charged extra for this.

Philippines eTA visa waiver requirements from the UK

In the event that a UK visitor needs to apply for an eTA visa waiver once the program is expanded, the Philippine Government has set certain criteria that must be met by all applicants .

The requirements are as follows:

  • Having a passport with minimum validity of at least 6 months after they leave the country
  • Return flight tickets
  • Hotel bookings
  • Cash or debit/credit cards

It is also worth noting that all travelers to the Philippines (including Brits) will have to go through a customs check at the port of entry, where they will be expected to clear security questions.

Incoming passengers may also be asked to provide certain travel documents and a printed copy of their Philippine visa (if applicable).

Philippines eTA application procedure from the United Kingdom

It is expected that the process of obtaining an eTA tourist permit for the Philippines from the United Kingdom will be very simple.

Applicants will need to go to the Philippines online application website and fill out the eTA application form from the United Kingdom .

It will then be necessary to fill in basic personal information and passport data , and provide a current email address. The applicant will also need to provide debit/credit card details to pay the ETA fee .

Once the form has been submitted, the applicant will be assigned a Unique Identification Number (UID) .

In group applications, the UID will be issued to the main applicant of the eTA authorizations. The traveler(s) will also be charged a processing fee upon submission of the eTA request.

It will be important to check that all of the fields on the eTA application have been filled out correctly.

This is because even small differences between the details of the applicant’s travel documents and the data provided on the form can affect the validity of the eTA visa waiver. As a result, the eTA holder could be prevented from entering the country.

In case the questionnaire presents incorrect or lacking information, the applicant will have to fill out a new form.

If the form has already been completed and the traveler needs to update the information provided, they can make the necessary changes by contacting the Philippine eTA application website and providing their UID.

How to receive the Philippines eTA for British citizens

After the application has been submitted, it is expected that it may take a few business days for it to be processed and for the visa waiver to be granted. In some cases, it might take longer if there is any additional processing that needs to be carried out on the application.

Once the Philippines eTA visa waiver for UK citizens is granted, the traveler will receive the authorization via email .

They should keep a copy of the eTA on their smartphone/handheld device and are also advised to bring a printout of the permit on a sheet of A4 paper to present at the Philippine border.

In the case of multiple applicants, a separate printed copy will be needed for each individual in the group. The eTA will need to be presented to Philippine immigration officials at the Philippine port of entry.

Health Requirements to Enter the Philippines from the UK

British travelers should also be aware that they may need to meet certain health requirements in order to be granted entry to the Philippines. As noted above, it is necessary for all travelers to complete an electronic Travel form before visiting the country .

It is also important for travelers from the UK to make sure they are up-to-date with all the required vaccinations for entry to the Philippines .

Additionally, British travelers are advised to ensure they have up-to-date travel insurance before visiting the Philippines. Although not mandatory, this will ensure that any healthcare expenses are covered if medical needs arise while abroad.

still depends on your documents

Hi! Can I apply for a 10 year visa even if I don’t know anyone? Won’t they doubt why I will apply for a 10 year visa for travel purposes only? What would be the best reason if ever?

You can po, the difference is the payment po. So, better have also a big amount of savings if you want it po.

is it the fee/payment of Php51,700 guarantee that i can get a visa? or still there’s a possible i can be denied? thanks

There’s still possibility of getting denied. You need to prove why you’d need to get the 10 years.

Everything You Need To About Philippines Visa

philippines-visa-image

For citizens of the United Kingdom, a visa is not required if the traveler is not staying inside Philippines for more than 30 days.

Depending on the nature and intention of the foreign national’s visit, authorities in Philippines used to issue different types of visas, and some of the most noted ones are mentioned below.

Philippines tourist visa

As the name denotes, tourist visas are issued to foreign nationals who intend to visit Philippines for tourism-related activities that include sightseeing.

If a United Kingdom citizen is planning to stay in Philippines for less than 30 days, there is no need to obtain a visa. Even though visa exempt for a stay up to 30 days, the foreign national should make sure that his or her passport has a minimum validity of six months and adequate blank pages.

The applicant should also hold proof of sufficient funds, and should also have necessary documents that detail the purpose of the trip.

However, if the British national is planning to stay inside Philippines for more than 30 days, it is mandatory to obtain a tourist visa. In order to get a tourist visa, all UK nationals should submit the documents mentioned below.

  • All British nationals who want to obtain a Philippines tourist visa should submit the original, signed UK passport. The validity of this passport should be six months, and it should also have one blank page. If the validity of your passport is less than six months, travelers should renew it before submitting the application.
  • One passport-sized photograph of the applicant taken within the last six months in a white background should be submitted to get a Philippines tourist visa. The applicant should sign in the front of the photograph.
  • The applicant should submit proof of UK residency status.
  • It is necessary to submit livelihood proof. As a proof of livelihood, foreign nationals should submit recent bank statements that show sufficient funds in credit. Foreign nationals can also submit an employment certificate disclosing the traveler’s salary. It is also necessary to submit last three months’ salary slip or a copy of applicant’s pension statement.
  • If the foreign national has faced arrest for criminal offense in the past, it is necessary to submit an original Police Certificate issued in the last six months.
  • A copy of recent utility bill or driving license should be submitted as the applicant’s UK address.
  • Apart from submitting the original passport, the applicant should also submit the photocopy of the passport’s information page.
  • The visa application form to get a Philippines tourist visa should be completed without any errors. In case of any queries, travelers can contact Visa Genie, and we will assist you in all steps of visa application.

Note: Multiple entry visas will be granted to foreign nationals who have received single-entry visas in the past.

The application form to obtain a Philippines tourist visa should be signed and notarized by notary public or solicitor.

Philippines business visa

As mentioned earlier, British nationals do not need to obtain a business visa if he or she is staying inside Philippines for less than 30 days.

If planning to stay inside the country for more than 30 days for business related activities, obtaining a Philippines business visa is a must. In order to obtain a business visa, all applicants should submit the below-mentioned documents.

  • The passport of the applicant should be submitted. While submitting the passport for obtaining a Philippines business visa, please make sure that it has a minimum validity of six months and one blank page for markings.
  • A recent photograph of the applicant should be submitted. Please make sure that the photograph is taken in a white background. It should provide the full-frontal view of the applicant’s head, and the face should be centered in the middle.
  • It is mandatory to submit the applicant’s proof of residence status in the United Kingdom.
  • The applicant should submit recent bank statements to show his or her financial health. Applicant’s should also submit last three months’ pay slips. If retired, foreign nationals can submit proof of retirement funds.
  • It is necessary to submit a business introduction letter issued by the traveler’s employer in the United Kingdom. This employment letter signed by a senior manager should be addressed to the Consulate of Philippines. The letter should detail the nature and purpose of the foreign national’s visit, and should also state the nature of business that will be conducted inside Philippines. The company in the United Kingdom should also guarantee sufficient funds for the foreign national’s trip.
  • In order to get a Philippines business visa, applicants should submit a business invitation letter from the host company in Philippines. This letter written in the company’s letterhead should be submitted to the Consulate of Philippines, Visa Section. This signed business letter should introduce the applicant, and should detail the nature of business which will be conducted inside Philippines. The letter should also specify the type and desired validity of the Philippines business visa. The company in Philippines should also guarantee sufficient funds for the foreign national’s trip.
  • The visa application form should be completed without any errors.

Note: The application form to obtain a Philippines business visa should be signed and notarized by notary public or solicitor.

Philippines transit visa

UK citizens can stay visa exempt for 24 hours if the traveler is traveling to a different destination through Philippines.

However, in order to stay visa-free while transiting, applicants should meet the conditions mentioned below.

  • The passport should be valid for six months, and it should also have sufficient blank pages.
  • The applicant should make sure that he or she is not leaving the International transit area of the airport.

  • It is mandatory to hold all documents required for the next destination.
  • It is necessary to hold a visa for the next destination.
  • Travelers should check with the airline company that boarding is permitted without a visa as these rules may change at any time.

If the traveler is not meeting the above-mentioned criteria, it may be required to take a visa to enter Philippines.

In order to get a Philippines Seaman visa, all foreign nationals should submit the below-mentioned documents.

  • Applicant’s actual signed passport which has six months validity and one blank page should be submitted.
  • A photograph of the applicant taken in a white background should be submitted.
  • As a proof of financial means, foreign nationals should submit his or her recent bank statement.
  • Applicant’s last three months’ salary slips should be submitted. If retired, applicants can submit proof of retirement funds.
  • A business introduction letter issued by the traveler’s employer in the United Kingdom should be submitted. This letter should detail the purpose of the trip, and it should also explain ports of entry and exit.
  • A standard criminal record certificate of the applicant should be submitted.
  • A photocopy of the applicant’s passport should be submitted.
  • The visa application form should be completed without errors.

Note: These visas are issued to foreign nationals intending to stay in Philippines for longer than 21 days.
