Modest Mouse, Pixies, and Cat Power to Embark on North American Tour

Modest Mouse and Pixies will be co-headlining a North American tour this summer with Cat Power along for the ride. The three acts will be on the road throughout August and September, and the dates will take them across the continent starting in Asbury Park, New Jersey on August 20.

The tour will run for 19 stops and wrap up in San Diego, California on Sept. 16. The dates come in addition to Pixie’s upcoming shows in May in support of their first new album in three years, Doggerel . The band decamped to Guilford, Vermont to record the project, and gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album in a new short documentary.

Today, indie rock titans Pixies and Modest Mouse announced their 2024 co-headline tour across North America with special guest Cat Power joining on all upcoming dates. Produced by Live Nation, the 23-date run kicks off on Friday, May 31 in Charleston, SC at Firefly Distillery, with stops in Charlotte, Nashville, Toronto, Queens, Chicago, Austin and more before wrapping up on Sunday, June 30 in Denver, CO at Fiddler’s Green.

The 2024 tour follows the highly successful sold-out 2023 run featuring all three acts, which concluded in San Diego this past September. The 2023 tour included an epic Hollywood Bowl performance in Los Angeles and multiple nights at Pier 17 in New York, along with stops in Napa, Bridgeport, Vail, Seattle and more.

TICKETS: Tickets will be available starting with Citi and Artist presales (details below) beginning Tuesday, January 23. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general onsale beginning Friday, January 26 at 10 AM local time at ticketmaster.com .

Modest Mouse and Pixies have announced a co-headlinining tour of North America with support from Cat Power . The dates will take them across the continent this summer—check out the stops below. More shows will be announced soon, according to a press release.

Modest Mouse will also head out on tour with Weezer later this spring. Pixies and Cat Power released new records last year, the latter a covers album . Modest Mouse’s The Golden Casket came out in 2021.

Pixies, Modest Mouse take over Waukee for one night. Here's how to get tickets.

Alt-rockers the Pixies are about to bring “Where Is My Mind?” to Waukee when they, Modest Mouse and Cat Power take over Vibrant Music Hall this summer.

All three powerhouse performers will take the stage on June 23 as the Live Nation-owned venue works its way toward its first anniversary .

The tour comes after a " highly successful sold-out run " in 2023 with all three performers, Live Nation announced Monday.

The Pixies, formed in Massachusetts in the 1980s, are responsible for songs “Monkey Gone to Heaven,” “Gigantic” and “Heaven,” notably influencing Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain and others — so much so that American Songwriter said Pixies is as "influential as The Beatles" earlier in January.

Joining the Pixies is Modest Mouse, the alt-rock act that formed several years after the Pixies in Washington. The band is known for hits including “Float On” and “Dashboard.”

In December 2022, Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green died after a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, USA TODAY reported. He was 45.

Special guest Cat Power, who performed on day one of Iowa City’s annual Mission Creek Festival in 2023, joins with her husky voice and beloved covers.

Pixies and Modest Mouse Announce 2024 Co-Headlining North American Tour

In the wake of 2023’s successful co-headlining run, American alt-rock superstars Pixies and Modest Mouse have announced yet another tour slated for 2024. The tour will feature singer/songwriter Cat Power as main support for the North American Spring/Summer run.

The Firefly Distillery in Charleston, South Carolina will be the tour’s official launch pad on May 31. Assuming no further tour dates are announced, Fiddler’s Green in Denver, Colorado on Sunday, June 30th is likely going to be the last stop on the tour.

Short of announcing it on their respective social media accounts, neither band has provided many details on the next nationwide tour. However, this is a tour that needs little introduction. Last year’s co-headlining tour was an incredible one. It sold out fast and many diehard fans of the bands missed out, so it’s only natural that an encore tour would happen in 2024.

General ticket sales for this tour will start on Friday, January 26 at about 10:00 am local. But if you want to get your hands on presale tickets, you have a few options. The official presale event will start on January 23 at 10:00 am EST via Ticketmaster for all tour dates noted at the end of this article.

Pixies are one of the most beloved alt-rock bands in the world. The group started in the early days of grunge (or proto-grunge, depending on who you ask) in the late 1980s. Pixies have released seven studio albums in their decades-long career, including the iconic Surfer Rosa from 1988 and Doolittle from 1989. 

Similarly, Modest Mouse has cemented itself as a symbol of late 1990s indie rock. The band recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of their iconic album The Lonesome Crowded West with a sold-out tour.

Pixies and Modest Mouse Reunite for 2024 Tour with Special Guest Cat Power

This year, three of the biggest names in indie rock will come together as the Pixies and Modest Mouse announce a month-long North American tour with Cat Power. Following a successful 20-show series at the end of last summer, the new tour begins on May 31 and continues through the end of June for a total of 23 new dates. This run from the titans of alternative will bring their music to some areas missed by the original tour, notably including seven shows in the South and seven new venues in the Midwest.

The 2024 run will start in Charleston, S.C., with a performance at Firefly Distillery on May 3 commencing the trio’s first Southeast series. In the region, the tour will pass through PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, N.C on June 1, Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, Tenn., on June 2 and Cadence Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park in Atlanta–Cat Power’s hometown–on June 4. Next, the bands trek north to Cincinnati to play The Andrew J Brady Music Center on June 5, followed by gigs at Toronto, Ontario’s Budweiser Stage and Laval, Quebec’s Place Bell on June 8 and 9. The tour returns to the states on June 11 with a show at Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, N.H., preceding engagements at Philadelphia’s TD Pavilion at the Mann on June 12 and the iconic Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md., on June 14.

The tour hits the Big Apple on June 5 by way of Queens, N.Y.’s Forest Hills Stadium. Next, the groups progress to Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass. on June 16 before a Midwest run of Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill in Sterling Heights, Mich., Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago, Surly Brewing Company in Minneapolis, Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wis., Vibrant Music Hall in Waukee, Iowa and Starlight Theatre in Kansas City on June 18-24. The trio of acts will then jump down to Texas for appearances at Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin, Texas and The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas, on June 26-27, followed by Walmart AMP in Rogers, Ark. on June 28. Finally, a performance at Fiddler’s Green in Denver on June 30 will bring the tour to a close.

All of the featured acts join this tour with new momentum as veterans in the indie scene. This year, Modest Mouse will celebrate the 20th anniversary of fan-favorite album Good News for People Who Love Bad News , as well as three decades of live performance. Cat Power is currently riding renown for her 2022 full-length album covering Bob Dylan’s 1966 Royal Albert Hall concert, the third covers album in the artist’s discography. Meanwhile, the Pixies continue to reorient following the addition of bassist Paz Lenchantin, who officially replaced Kim Deal in 2016; Doggerel , the third studio album from the band’s current iteration, leans towards rough punk-inspired sounds.

Presale tickets for the 2024 tour will be available for Citi cardmembers on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. local time. General onsale begins Friday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. local time at ticketmaster .

Indie rock titans Pixies and Modest Mouse have announced their 2024 co-headline tour across North America with special guest Cat Power joining on all upcoming dates. Produced by Live Nation, the 23-date run will include a performance at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m.

The 2024 tour follows the highly successful sold-out 2023 run featuring all three acts, which concluded in San Diego this past September. The 2023 tour included an epic Hollywood Bowl performance in Los Angeles and multiple nights at Pier 17 in New York, along with stops in Napa, Bridgeport, Vail, Seattle and more.

This summer, your favorite 80’s indie-rockers are teaming up with your favorite 90’s indie-rockers for a co-headlining tour, featuring your favorite 90’s singer-songwriter in supporting-role status for good measure.

Issac Brock’s Modest Mouse appears to have officially taken on legacy-act status this year, as they prepare to hit the road with Frank Black’s Pixies on a string of dates across the U.S. in August and September, supported by Cat Power across all 19 shows, including a stop at the Stone Pony Summerstage in Asbury Park on Aug. 20, and two consecutive nights at Pier 17 in NYC on Aug. 21 and Aug. 22 .

Following their NYC run, the co-headliners have shows at Cooperstown, NY’s Ommegang Brewery on Aug. 25 and Lewiston, NY’s Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater on Aug. 28.

Prices are reasonable across the board, especially considering you’re getting three of the most influential indie acts of the last 40 years on one bill.

At the time of publication, audience members can expect tickets below $100 before fees on Vivid Seats for the tour’s Stone Pony show, and under $85 for the New York dates .

Indie rock veterans Pixies and Modest Mouse are once again teaming up for a co-headlining North American tour with special guest Cat Power .

The trio previously toured together in 2023 . Beginning May 31st, they’ll head back on the road for a 23-date run that includes stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Austin, Denver, and more.

A Live Nation ticket pre-sale is set for Thursday, January 25th (use access code SPOTLIGHT ), with a public on sale following on Friday, January 26th via Ticketmaster .

Once tickets are on sale, you can also find them at StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
