Very comfortable room, had everything we needed. Quiet and with Beefeater next door where food was very good. All staff were friendly and welcoming.

Great room. Location perfect for us. We were made to feel really welcome by Kelly on reception. She engaged with my two children (who talked her to death) nothing was to much trouble for her. First class member of staff. Thank you.

Very clean. Staff went out of there way to help. No complaints.

This is in a convenient location for our needs but mould in bathroom, tap that soaks everything, room freezing on arrival and heating v temperamental but the final insult NO HOT WATER. I did tell reception who went off and fixed the boiler but this didn’t help me.

Very very tired. Looks unwelcoming on arrival and doesn’t get better. Cleaning not great (eg rubbish under the bed, marks on towels bedding) lots of damp etc Black mould directly over the heater/aircon perhaps the worst bit. Didn’t take a shower as it was just too dingy. Thankfully the bed was comfy.

You get what you pay for with this premier Inn. The property is easy to find, and has plenty of parking. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are basic but clean, and most have aircon which, since I stayed in August, was a plus! The adjoining restaurant was acceptable pub food, and the meal deal makes the food good value for money. Good hotel for business trip or budget holiday.

Pretty good service could do with cooking sausage and bacon more as a bit undercooked rooms was a bit to hot but clean and comfortable bed friendly staff but for a beefeater steak was too tough expecting better from beefeater for steak as it is served almost cold need hot platters so it's sizzling as it comes.

Very nice and safe place to stay… They must have a deal going on with the beefeater next door as the breakfast was held there and it was a good spread. Friendly staff and we got such a nice welcome.

Bit tired, the grout in the bathroom wasn't clean, scruffy is probably a better description. One of those places where they know it needs an overhaul but it's just hanging on in there. Noise travels well — the people above were fairly audible and seemed to march around. Can't blame Premier Inn other than we asked after the first night to be moved if the people above were also staying another night. We left it with them, returned and although I can't say for sure they were the same, it sure sounded like it so Prem people let us down a bit there. Breakfast at the pub next door was good, that was the saving grace otherwise 2 stars and I'm usually generous. Won't return.

They have very comfortable beds. I travel here for work but don't get a room available always as this hotel is so popular. Near to town centre.

Usual Premier Inn experience, although this particular Premier Inn is looking a bit dated and tatty, carpets in the hallways were worn out in places. However the bed was comfortable and the room had air conditioning.

Well placed for visits to Truro and the surrounding countryside. Falmouth is about 25mins drive (traffic and perrenial road works permutting! )

Usual standard of quality for all but the Wi-Fi, paid for ultimate Wi-Fi to only have it keep disconnecting every 5 minutes.

Service slow steak terrible room not much better very dated think this oh for one night stops to the beaches fair enough but we still need nice rooms and food can’t blame the staff can only be the management who where not about.

A little dated but then that far down Cornwall I didn't expect anything else, it's a premier Inn it does what it says, good nights sleep, short drive to town, but I think the taxi was a little on the pricier side, about £15 to get to town from the premium inn.

It's a premier inn! It's old but perfectly fine, did what we needed for a stop over after a night out in truro.

Not a bad stay, own pint glass was taken from our room by cleaning staff, had to ask at reception to get it back, not good, meal in the beefeater was ok, breakfast was not worth 8.99 had many a tastier breakfast at a muck lower price. Only ate there the once, used local pubs and cafes.

Everything was perfect other than the two cups given where completely filthy, still full of old tea and crusty around the top of the cup, didn't expect to do washing as soon as I turned up…

Staff here are great and I witnessed them deal with a difficult situation when checking in with a lady very upset at not receiving a disabled room. Clean, quite and warm.

Nice hotel reasonably priced. Very helpful staff — great customer service. Room was standard double and was comfortable and quite spacious. Tea and coffee and a hairdryer available in the room and a TV showing digital channels. Premier Inn breakfast at the adjacent Beafeater restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Taxi to Truro is about 10mins and costs £12. Bus to Truro and Penryn from the Carnon Downs stop — about 100 yards from the first exit of the roundabout at the entrance to the Premier Inn car park. Bus fare about £4 or so.

Kind staff, comfy and clean room. Nice Beefeater next door although they were short of quite a few things on the menu.

The facilities aren't up to par with other premier inns. Small TV, bathroom wasn't particularly great but adequate. The price wasn't too bad. The restaurant across the way we had mixed experiences, one night was good, one made to order breakfast was fantastic and hot but the next day it was awful and I didn't move past the barely warm hash browns or the overly peppery sausages. So 8.99 for a couple of rounds of toast and a cuppa was not good. I can understand stuff being just warm on a busy day but not on a made to order day. I think 3 stars is generous tbh and it's only this high because of the price of rooms. I'd think twice about breakfast next time.

Standard premier inn, with the added bonus of a beefeater joined to it. 3 miles out of Truro isn't ideal but it's easy to get to. Great shower.

Lovely place since the beefeater had been there. Probably a good idea to book though always seems to be busy. Fantastic food.

Stayed here as visiting the eden project. Stayed in room 38. Quiet room. View was a stone wall, but this suited us as no walking pass the window. No hot water in the morning. Had to run tap for ages. Nearly gave up lol. Clean and tidy room. Had breakfast and evening meal. Nice food, did have to chase up the waiting staff though. Chef wanted a perfect poached egg for me. All in all good stay. Only deducted stars due to hot water and waiting for food. Would stay again though.

A great hotel that offers a bed and breakfast and dinner. Purple, clean and comfortable rooms. A good bathroom with combined bathtub and shower, toilet and sink. They also have a towel rail that can be turned on and off if you want to warm/dry your towel. A TV, water boiler for coffee or tea and a hair dryer is included and plugged in for you. I really love this place.

Good service good food. Like the fact you can get extra chips, vegetables, fries or salad free if there's not enough on your plate.

Spent 5 days 4nights here. Everyone was brilliant. Room was very comfy and clean. Plenty of variety for food. Service was very good. Only one small problem, I think that the food could have been a little hotter than we received. Otherwise no problems. Would certainly return if the opportunity arises.

Premier Inn plan for St Ives brings protest at County Hall

The application has attracted more than 600 objections

Protesters have gathered to show the strength of feeling against a proposed Premier Inn in a Cornwall tourist hot spot. The gathering at County Hall in Truro is happening ahead of a planning meeting where the application is due to be considered.

Opponents of the plans by Premier Inn to build a 90-room hotel in St Ives had said they would hold a "peaceful protest" when a Cornwall Council committee meets to discuss the application. It has been recommended for approval by the authority's planning department.

The proposals have seen over 600 objections on the council's online planning register, with St Ives Town Council objecting to the plans last year. Councillors called the hotel a "carbuncle", "far too big" and "not Premier League but Second Division relegation zone" with "too many floors and flaws".

Scaled back plans for the hotel at Trewidden Road, to replace Cornwallis Nursing Home, were submitted to Cornwall Council in October by Whitbread, the parent company of Premier Inn. The application will be presented to and discussed by councillors at the West Cornwall sub-area planning committee today (Monday, April 29).

Decision made

After a debate - with some harsh words said - councillors have made their decision after officers recommended they approve the plan.

Protester speaks

St Ives local William Smith said he was protesting against knocking down the town's last care home.

He told CornwallLive at the protest: "People have got different views. Some are against the big namer brands, corporates, coming into St Ives completely. Personally, I'm against a building of that size on that plot.

"St Ives doesn't have the infrastructure to facilitate that development on that site."

'Whitewash'

The council's plannersa have recommended delegated authority to approve - meaning decision by council officers only - but local member Cllr Andrew Mitchell has called it to committee for a decision by elected councillors. He took to Facebook last week to say: "I have not changed my mind that this proposal is way to much for the site, so I have called it to committee so the decision will be made in the public domain. It will be held at County Hall on April 29 if anyone wishes to attend. Hopefully many will."

St Ives-based artist Shelley Thornton said: "In her wisdom, a Cornwall Council planning officer has decided to recommend for approval the Premier Inn despite the over 600 objections and the town council’s opposition. Whitewash."
