Game Help:Sims 3 Traveling

So, you fancy a bit of traveling, eh? Well, then the first step is to pick up the phone or get to a computer to start booking your trip.

There are three locations (or countries) that you can travel to: China, Egypt or France. To travel to these destinations, you can use the phone and click on the desired destination.

If you are traveling for the first time, you can only travel for 3 days. To travel longer you need Visa Points , which you can gain by doing adventures.

A taxi will arrive to pick you up and take you to your destination. Once the screen loads, you will be at the Base Camp of your destination.

NOTE: After arriving back from your destination, you have to wait at least 2 days to be able to travel again. If your sim has the Adventurous trait you can go on another vacation in less time than other sims.

sims 3 travel between worlds

Travel costs depend on the location you are going and how many days you are staying.

Trip Planner

When you decide to go on a trip, the trip planner is where you select where and with whom you want to travel. Your visa level affects where and for how long you can travel.

Visa Levels

To be able to stay more days on vacation, you need to earn more Visa Points. Visa Points can be gained after completing adventures.

To gain Visa Levels you need Visa Points which you will gain by completing various Adventures in the game. Maximum length of stay can also be increased by purchasing the 'Prepared Traveler' Lifetime Reward (10,000 points).

China (Shang Simla)

Shang Simla is located in China, home of martial arts. In China you can explore ancient Chinese areas, master Martial Arts, meditate in the serene environment and eat interesting cuisine.

Egypt (Al Simhara)

Al Simhara is located in Egypt and is the home of the pyramids. Here you can explore tombs, fight with mummies, visit the sphinx and explore the photography skill.

France (Champs Les Sims)

Champs Les Sims is located in France, the most romantic country ever. Here you can zoom around the town on your scooter, make nectar at the nectary, enjoy fine cuisine in the cafe or find the love of your life!

Once your sims have arrived at their destinations, you can find lots of things to do. You can go on adventures, explore different locations (such as Buildings, Museums and Parks), or go to the market place and buy souvenirs and relics.

You can also purchase items you may need for exploring the tombs and cauldrons. You can visit the Martial Arts Academy to study the ways of martial arts. Or, you can simply just meet the locals around the neighborhood for a friendly chat.

The Base Camp is your Sim's temporary home. Each world's base camp has all the things your Sims need (bathroom, kitchen, and a place to rest) to stay happy and healthy while on vacation. Though each base camp is different they all give you a decent place to sleep. Remember, you're not the only sim on the base camp, other vacationing sims are there for you to mingle with and make friends. Who knows, you might just meet your special someone!

The Adventure Board

Fancy a bit of adventure? Then check out the adventure board located in your base camp! Feel free to check the adventure board daily for information on tours, exhibits and other things to do when your sim is enjoying their time away.

Returning Home

Your sims will automatically go home after your vacation days have expired. You can also have them go home prematurely, by opening the inventory menu, and then the phone. There should be a "return home" button. After clicking on it, a menu will appear asking which sims are going home. You can choose from only one sim, to all the sims on vacation. If you choose to leave some behind, you will continue to control them until there are no more sims on vacation. Once you have no more sims on vacation, your city (Sunset Valley or Riverview) will be loaded and your sims will be at home. For the next few days, they will have the "Visited (China (Shang Simla), Egypt (Al Simhara), or France (Champs Les Sims)) moodlet. You sims can not go on another vacation while they have this moodlet.

The Sims 3: World Adventures

sims 3 travel between worlds

The Sims 3: World Adventures is the first expansion pack for The Sims 3 released on 17 November 2009 in Canada, the US, Australia and Asia, the 19th or 20th in Europe, Africa and China for Windows and Macintosh. [1] It was the first expansion pack released for The Sims 3.

The game is reminiscent of previous expansion packs The Sims: Vacation and The Sims 2: Bon Voyage as players can take their Sims away to vacation destinations. The three vacation destination sub-neighborhoods in World Adventures are inspired by real-world countries, though the locations themselves are fictional. In addition to visiting exotic locations, Sims can engage in a number of adventures, make discoveries and explore hidden parts of each sub-neighborhood.

sims 3 travel between worlds

The Adventure is near...

Take your Sims on the adventure of their lives with The Sims 3 World Adventures. Guide your Sims to acclaimed fortune—or potential doom. Take your Sims to exotic destinations to hunt for hidden treasures. Uncover new skills, experience new personality traits and garner rewards, if your Sims succeed. Explore ancient tombs in the pyramids of Egypt, master martial arts in the Far East, and discover rich culture and famous landmarks of France. Adventure is on the horizon — what will your Sims discover?

Game Features [ edit | edit source ]

  • Explore famous landmarks in pastiche countries such as China, Egypt, and France, each neighbourhood roughly the same size as Sunset Valley .
  • Meet new Sims from exotic locations, inherit and share their cultures.
  • Accept challenges , find relics , discover what’s lurking in tombs and more.
  • New game-play features such as puzzles and traps and choices that may change the appearance of the countries for good.
  • New Pagoda roof styles and decorations .
  • New Life State : Mummy .
  • New Plants including new species of grapes and Fish (frogs, snails, and crocodiles [2] ).
  • New Skills : Martial Arts , Nectar Making and Photography .
  • New traits : Adventurous , Disciplined and Photographer's Eye . There are also hidden cultural traits that Sims can only get (such as a Sim eating with chopsticks) by having a child with a native from a certain country.
  • New Lot assignments : Academy , Base camp , Chinese garden , Hidden tomb , Market , Nectary , Small market and Tomb .
  • New Death : The Mummy's Curse .
  • New Lifetime Wishes : Bottomless Necter Cellar, Great Explorer, Martial Arts Master, Physical Perfection, Private Museum, Seasoned Traveler, Visionary and World Class Gallery.
  • Music by artists in Simlish: Nelly Furtado – “Manos al Aire”, Pixie Lott – “Mama Do”, Stefanie Heinzmann – “No One Can Change My Mind”, Matt & Kim – “Daylight”, Young Punx – “Juice and Gin”. [3]
  • More architectural items, such as stairs and fences, are now fully customisable in Create a Style .
  • A new basement tool which makes them easier to build.
  • New Cheat Code : buyDebug (requires testingcheatsenabled true).

New neighborhoods [ edit | edit source ]

Sims are able to vacation in new locations: Shang Simla , Champs Les Sims and Al Simhara . These new locations are the same size as the neighborhoods of Sunset Valley and Riverview , and their designs are based on the countries of China, France, and Egypt, respectively.

Stores [ edit | edit source ]

sims 3 travel between worlds

Stores are not rabbit holes in the destinations. They are like normal houses, with a cash desk, and with an inventory of objects to sell.

There are markets and merchants in each location.

There are five kinds of markets, dictated by corresponding registers :

  • The general store;
  • The bookshop;
  • The restaurant;
  • The relic store
  • The nectary .
  • Also, to attain the items you buy at stores in Egypt, China, and France, you can type testingcheatsenabled true into the cheats console, then type in buydebug. This will give you all types of things, even Pangu's Axe and the Eye of Horus. Most of the rare items cost nothing.

There is also a special merchant , a Sim who sells exclusive items for ancient coins. The merchant sells forbidden items. You can find ancient coins while exploring a tomb.

Announcement and release [ edit | edit source ]

The announcement and release of World Adventures confirmed speculation that expansion packs would be released after The Sims 3 , as its predecessors The Sims and The Sims 2 had numerous expansion packs. The first hint of this expansion pack showed up on a French gaming site JeuxVideoPC.com in March 2009, under the title Les Sims 3 Destination Adventure . [4] The game was officially announced on August 3, 2009 at a press release for Electronic Arts . Information about the game appeared on both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 websites after this.

  • Get $10 worth of free SimPoints for The Sims 3 Store (1000 SimPoints).

Trivia [ edit | edit source ]

  • World Adventures is the last The Sims pack of the 2000s decade.
  • This is the first The Sims to have worlds fully based on real life countries.

How do you "visit another town"?

Pc 3ds android blackberry ds ios (iphone/ipad) macintosh playstation 3 wii windows mobile xbox 360, the sims 3 (pc).

  • My in-game wife came up with the wish to "visit another town". I turned it down because I had absolutely no idea how to do it. Anyone else get this one? How do you do it? Thanks. fshdfgh - 14 years ago - report
  • I have the extra town (and it's installed) but still have no idea how to get my sims to "visit" it. Where is that option located? fshdfgh - 14 years ago - report

Top Voted Answer

  • Are you sure that is what the wish says? Isn't it "Go out on Town" Or something like that? (If it is, she just has to go to a community lot to fulfill it) nasty_dog - 14 years ago - report 5   1
  • I don't think you can The town is just another place for you to start a new game in, and I don't think there is a visiting option between the two. Yoshimarue - 14 years ago - report 3   4
  • When you buy the game, you can register the game online to get another new neighborhood, and some other Sim accessories, like the free in-game Toyota Prius for your Sim characters, or a free coupon for 1000 Sim Points (equivalent value in local currency, eg. 10 USD) to spend at The Sims 3 Store. For the free town go here: store.thesims3.com/riverview.html For the free Prius: store.thesims3.com/prius.html?intcmp=eaint107 The 1000 Sim Points are included with either the "Collectors Edition" and the "Standard Edition" of The Sims 3. You must have a legal copy of the game to get the free stuff because you would need your CD Key for registration. Haven't heard about the pirates getting their hands on this free stuff yet, so the only way to get the stuff right now is to buy the game. Xusder - 14 years ago - report 1   5

Best Sims 3 Worlds & Towns To Live In (From All Expansion Packs)

Appaloosa Plains in Sims 3 - concept art

The Sims 3 is the go-to game for open-world simulation enthusiasts.

This is the one title in the entire franchise that didn’t make you go through loading screens every time you decide to move lots. This is why many people still prefer to play The Sims 3 over The Sims 4, even though the latest installment of the series has a lot of improvements.

In any case, it’ll be interesting to dig into Sims 3 worlds given that you can move around freely, and there aren’t any rabbit hole areas that you can’t visit.

So in this post I’ve organized my picks of the 15 the best worlds/areas/towns that you and your sims can inhabit. Sims 3 enthusiasts, get ready to pack your bags cause you might be ready for a move!

15. Barnacle Bay

Barnacle Bay Sims 3

Are you a fan of island worlds?

Well this one comes with a twist! Your world will have a pirate theme to help you and your sims go on adventures like you’ve never experienced before in the franchise.

You can purchase this amazing map or simply get it as part of the Island Paradise DLC if you happened to have pre-ordered it.

In any case, if you love to see the sunset on the coast and experience the life of an island dweller, this is probably one of the best towns to download.

14. Twinbrook

Twinbrook Sims 3

Twinbrook is a town that comes with the Ambitions expansion pack, which has two twin rivers that cross and divide the town with a lake in the middle.

It’s a beautiful little area that reminds one of the swampy regions of North America.

And with a grey climate to set the mood, Twinbrook is an amazing town for people who enjoy the simple things in life.

13. Appaloosa Plains

Appaloosa Plains in Sims 3

Not every sim is built for the country life. But the Appaloosa Plains have the best homes for sims that want to spend their life with country music relaxing on their porches.

If you love having your sim explore meadows and live a simple life then the Appaloosa Plains is the right town to inhabit.

Let nature take over and build a simple ranch. Or have your dream mansion built on the beautiful lands that make up the country of Appaloosa Plains.

You’ll be loving how it feels to live under a Texan-like sun.

12. Sunset Valley

Sunset Valley in Sims 3

Sunset Valley is a trend-setter in the world of The Sims.

This is arguably one of the largest maps that have ever come out in the franchise, and given that it was the first map in The Sims 3 it surely made an impact on the community.

Not only does it have a massive number of lots but it’s also got a large number of playable sims.

This cozy town has everything a sim needs to have the life that they want with peace and civility.

11. Lunar Lakes

Lunar Lakes in Sims 3

Playing The Sims in outer space? Yes, it can be done!

Lunar Lakes is a map which is set on another world that needs to be purchased in the Sims 3 store .

According to the story, sims traveled to this world many generations ago and it has now become a colony far from Earth where people live happy lives on an alien planet.

Lunar Lakes takes a spot on my list because it offers a unique twist that no other map in Sims history has managed to give – alien gameplay!

10. Moonlight Falls

Moonlight Falls in Sims 3

Now I think Moonlight Falls is the best town to play if you love mystery and exploring.

One of the things that makes this northwestern-style town look so good is that it really resembles what a village would look like in a misty mountain environment.

The creators of the map also weren’t too keen on discussing its story, as they like the shrouded mystery that covers this beautiful homeland.

9. Aurora Skies

Aurora Skies in Sims 3

Hiking? Tall trees? Fresh air?

This map was almost tailor-made for fans of The Sims that love the outdoors.

It is based on traditional Nordic towns and you can tell that by simply looking up at the night sky – the aurora borealis is right there for all to see.

8. Riverview

Riverview in Sims 3

Riverview is a fantastic little town well worth checking out.

In fact, it has one of the best town designs in the entire Sims 3 game (including expansion packs!)

It’s an amazing area for lovers of the outdoors, much like the Aurora Skies map, but with a twist.

In Riverview you’ll be playing in the countryside and you’ll be able to visit the many different little rivers that traverse the plains around you.

Bridges, water, and many places to camp.

Riverview is, by far, one of the most iconic maps of The Sims 3 and oozes with the energy that made us fall in love with the open-world nature of the game in the first place.

It’s completely free as well so you can grab this any time you like.

7. Starlight Shores

Starlight Shores in Sims 3

Starlight Shores comes with the Showtime Expansion Pack and it’s basically a scaled-down representation of Hollywood .

You’ll be able to feel like a true star living in an apartment complex or simply inhabiting the walls that make up the mansion that you’ve bought with your rise to fame.

In any case, this city changes the shape of traditional Sims 3 gameplay. It makes you move around crowded neighborhoods, vibrant plazas, and lets you get to know the brightest city that the SimNation has to offer.

6. Hidden Springs

Hidden Springs in Sims 3

Hidden Springs is the best map for players who love to move around the mountainous environments.

It adds an alpine vibe to the Sims 3 games that honestly you wouldn’t know that you wanted until you come across this map to begin with.

The area has some very cozy homes that you and your sim can move into, and you can live a quiet and modest life or build your dream mansion on top of a mountain. Probably not for everyone but definitely worth looking into if you like the serene sense of nature.

5. Dragon Valley

Dragon Valley in Sims 3

Have you ever dreamed of playing The Sims 3 in an open world environment that took place hundreds of years ago?

Well with the Dragon Valley map you can feel what our ancestors felt like while walking on the stone streets of Medieval Europe.

Technology has made its way to this town, of course.

But hey –I wouldn’t really like to live in medieval times without my phone and laptop. So why not get the best of both worlds?

4. Lucky Palms

Lucky Palms in Sims 3

Lucky Palms feels like the greener ancestor of The Sims 4’ map Oasis Springs.

In fact it’s very similar apart from the mountainous setting that you can see in the Lucky Palms map.

This awesome map also comes with a few betting items, including blackjack tables and slot machines. Cool! Your sim might be able to hit it rich if they get enough luck coming their way.

3. Isla Paradiso

Isla Paradiso in Sims 3

This paradisiacal island is one of the most beautiful maps ever created for a Sims game.

It truly makes you feel like you’re on a magnificent island paradise with crystal clear waters, boathouses, and a beach theme that is only matched by one of the latest Sims 4 worlds, Sulani.

In any case, the open-world theme of Isla Paradiso makes it a much more enjoyable map than its Sims 4 counterpart.

With hundreds of things to do and waters to explore, you’ll absolutely love your time on Isla Paradiso.

Live your days on the island or join the world once your sim is ready to retire – employment options aren’t short here, but it does seem like a place where only those who have accomplished everything in life would want to move to.

2. Sunlit Tides

Sunlit Tides Sims 3

Now Sunlit Tides is another paradisiacal map that aims to take you to an island in the Caribbean with the most beautiful beaches and traditional palm trees.

The island, even though it encourages the life of a beach dweller, also comes with everything you need to live a long life with plenty of work opportunities.

You can visit the cinemas or bars with your friends, or you can simply stay at home and leave to the beach on weekends.

Feel what it’s like to live the real tropical life by calling Sunlit Tides your new home.

1. Roaring Heights

Roaring Heights, best Sims 3 town

Roaring Heights takes the first spot on my list because it’s the most beautiful yet complex city in the Sims 3 game.

It truly makes you feel what it’s like to have a sim living in a big city, in an even better way than Starlight Shores.

The city is massive, the colors are vibrant, and things to do are aplenty. This is one of the best maps ever released in a Sims game and I highly recommend you check it out, even just for a bit of fun. I promise you won’t regret it!
