‘Star Trek Online: Incursion’ Out Now – Watch Captain Kim Take On New Borg In Launch Trailer

The latest update for the free-to-play MMORPG Star Trek Online  debuted today on PC. The new season (the 30th for the long-running game) is called Star Trek Online: Incursion and it brings back Star Trek: Voyager’s Garrett Wang as Captain Kim and includes some elements from Star Trek: Prodigy as well.

Star Trek Online: Incursion continues last season’s Multiverse story following a misunderstanding with the Tholians and the tearing of the Reality Vortex. A new vortex has appeared at Starbase One and Borg are surging through it. Players will encounter Garrett Wang as Captain Harry Kim as well as Kipleigh Brown returning as Captain Kuumaarke in this new season. Additionally, players will also meet Captain Kim’s new Astrophysicist, Commander Erin Macdonald, as seen on Star Trek: Prodigy , voiced by Star Trek science Erin Macdonald. There are also some cool Prodigy assets including a Murf pet. Starting today, PC players can go up against the Borg in a new featured episode, “Taken by Surprise” and new task force operations.

In this latest season for Star Trek Online, players will discover that Starbase One is under attack from a new type of Borg threat. During this attempt to repel the Borg forces, Starfleet receives the help of a mysterious and powerful new ally.

Star Trek Online: Incursion includes the following new features:

New Episode – Taken by Surprise • A Borg invasion force emerges from a Reality Vortex at Starbase One. These Borg are different – stronger, ruthless, and more aggressive. We live in Trek fandom period where childish BS on some of the current series is done for laughs, so if this is frowned upon, I can easily call out the hypocrisy in that.

Besides, he never did get beyond Ensign in the prime timeline, despite years on the ship, yet a couple others got promotions. In fact, Janeway never even brought up the topic. Obviously, she didn’t even see him as mid-level officer material, let alone future captain material. It is what it is.

Actually I love the look of the Borg here and it’s nice to see a real update to them. It would be fun to see this version on the big screen. Unfortunately, the way things are going, Kim will probably be Federation President before we ever see another Star Trek movie happening lol.

Star Trek Online: Ascension (or Season Twenty-seven: Ascension ) is a seasonal, major story update for Star Trek Online that was released for PC on September 13, 2022, and November 1, 2022 for Console. It continues the Terran Gambit story arc, including a brand new episode and a new TFO. The update was announced live during the celebrations for Star Trek Day on September 8, 2022.

• The new Elite Bridge Officer Training Token system allows Captains to train their Bridge Officers, upgrading them to Ultra Rare quality (thus upgrading all Inherent Species traits to maximum rank) as well as adding a Device, Kit Frame and Personal Ground Trait Slot to the officer.
• Player characters, Bridge Offiers and NPCs receive new 'resting' animations. For example, the 'Standard' and 'Thoughtful' stances seeing characters stretching and looking around occasionally while weapons are rested on shoulders or the hips when not in combat.

Things have escalated in the Mirror Universe, as the Terran emperor is attempting to control The Other , the Mirror version of V’ger – a dangerous entity of tremendous power. Up until this point, the identity of the leader behind the Terran Empire’s strategic incursions into the Prime Universe has remained a secret. However, players team up with former enemy-turned-ally, Admiral Leeta (voiced by Chase Masterson from Deep Space Nine ) and learn that the Emperor is none other than the Mirror version of Wesley Crusher from The Next Generation (voiced by Wil Wheaton ). In order to stop the Terran Emperor from threatening both the Prime and Mirror Universes, the Federation will need to stop him from controlling The Other, all while fighting off his forces led by the dreaded Captain Killy (voiced by Mary Wiseman from Discovery ).

You forgot to add how the game devs allow Bigoted comments from players and even allows players to threaten minorities.

cryptic loading screen has issues almost daily. sometimes forcing computer restart. devs cant seem to fix it, so I quit playing the game because of the issue.

Upcoming OS and DirectX Support Changes

Note: These changes are now finalized and live as of February 15, 2022.

As of February 15, 2022, Star Trek Online and Neverwinter will no longer be supporting Windows 7 and Direct3D Feature Level 10. This decision was made in order to improve game performance, optimize the player experience, and facilitate future development. In order to make this transition as smooth as possible, we have put together some detailed information.

What Operating System should I be upgrading to?

After February 15, Windows 8 or 10 (64-bit) will be required. For the best play experience, we recommend Windows 10.

What will be the updated graphics requirements?

To play Star Trek Online and Neverwinter after February 15, 2022 you will need a video card that supports Direct3D Feature Level 11.0 or better. This includes:

• NVidia GeForce GTX 400 or better

• ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5000 or better

• Intel HD Graphics 4000 or better

Above all, take a close look at the Video Card manufacturer’s documentation for any card you are going to purchase, and ensure that the card specifically says it supports Direct3D Hardware Feature Level 11 or higher.

What happens if I don’t upgrade by February 15?

Starting in November 2021, if you are running on Windows 7 or using a Video Card with a Direct3D Feature Level 10, you will be informed of the upcoming incompatibility via the launcher.

As of February 15, 2022, STO and NW will no longer be supporting Windows 7 or a Video Card with a Direct3D Feature Level less than 11. Players who do not meet the updated requirements will get a pop-up over the launcher indicating this and the launcher will close automatically when clicking OK. It will not be possible to log in or patch without upgrading.
