Bleachers Announce 2024 U.S. Tour Dates
By Matthew Strauss
Bleachers have announced a 2024 tour of the United States. Beginning in May, Jack Antonoff and his band will play From the Studio to the Stage shows with support from Samia . See Bleachers’ tour dates below.
A dollar from each ticket sale will go to the Ally Coalition , the nonprofit organization that Antonoff co-founded with his sister, Rachel, in 2013 to support LGBTQ+ youth. On Tuesday, December 19, Bleachers will perform at the Ally Coalition’s ninth annual talent show at New York University’s Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
In a statement about ticket sales, Jack Antonoff said:
jack here. we know there’s lots of issues and confusion when buying tickets to shows. want to ensure you we’ve done and will always do everything in our power to make this process as clean and transparent as possible for you all. we’ve had conversations from every single venue and promoter to the heads of the companies to limit fees and advertise only the total price to fans for as many shows as possible. so the ticket price you see is the ticket price you pay. this tour means the world to me and i want to make sure everyone gets in the door feeling right. also keep me posted if you encounter anything weird because i wanna know what you guys deal with and be able to take it right to the top of these companies and do my best to make it easier for bleachers fans and everyone. love you all! see you at FTSTTS ( just wait till you see this shit :) )
Bleachers are playing shows in support of their forthcoming self-titled album . The group’s follow-up to 2021’s Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night is out March 8.

Bleachers is an American indie pop act based in New York City formed in 2014 by Fun guitarist Jack Antonoff.
Jack Antonoff, the talented singer/songwriter and guitarist found fame with pop group Fun and is credited as a co-writer of one of the band's most successful singles 'We Are Young'. He has also written music for pop heavyweights including Taylor Swift and Christina Perri. Whilst on the road with Fun, Antonoff found an outlet for his creative urges whilst travelling from city to city in Bleachers. His side project remained unknown until February 2014 when he released the single 'I Wanna Get Better'.
It received moderate chart success due to the singer's credibilities and notoriety as an artist formerly associated with Fun. Critics enjoyed the shimmering layer of pop gloss that had been applied to this release and the album 'Strange Desire' which came in the summer continued to accumulate accolades. It was released through RCA records and was met with chart success, debuting at #11 on the US Billboard Charts and #19 on the Canadian album charts.
The guitarist has been touring the US tirelessly throughout 2014 to promote the album's release, including at stop off at Austin City Limits. Despite the success and time that Antonoff has invested into this project, he has made it clear this is not a departure from Fun and he still remains committed to the band.
Live reviews
Although Bleachers only recently found their way into the public eye, their infectious melodies and truly impressive live show are tempting music fans of all generations to don the sweatbands and leg warmers characteristic of the iconic time the band represents: a near revival of sorts. At the helm is fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff: deer-in-the-headlights turned rockstar, whose 80s hipster persona and unusual presence lend themselves to the palpable happiness felt by everyone in attendance. The real highlights of any Bleachers show, however, are the live renditions of “I Wanna Get Better,” “Rollercoaster,” “Shadow,” and other crowd favorites, which feature melodies that are simply begging to be shouted without any regard for auditory well-being.
Bleachers is unique among its counterparts in that it boasts two drummers that, when paired with the band’s signature synthesized pop rhythms, create a fuller sound and more intense live experience. Each blistering guitar solo leaves Antonoff in some transient state of bliss achievable only through true musicianship, and the performance is truly captivating. Within minutes, Jack’s taken off his first layer of clothing, sweat is flying, and he’s replaced his initial reserved demeanor with one of confidence and passion.
For those on the fence about attending a Bleachers show, it is important to note that all aspects of it — the lights, the energy, the nostalgia-inducing sing-a-longs — are contagious and will undoubtedly leave you in that lovely state of post-concert haziness for weeks to come.

Seeing Bleachers in concert was a down-right euphoric experience. I stumbled upon their music in the fall of 2017, and I really liked their sound -- energetic, upbeat, tinged with melancholy, but ultimately optimistic -- it suited me. I generally connect more with indie folk, so I didn't put Bleachers in my listening rotation. Still, I was excited when I saw they were coming to my hometown, because had a feeling that their music would lend itself well to live performance.
Holy crap, was I ever right! The band had a ton of energy and seemed like they were having a hell of a good time. And so was the crowd -- everyone around me was singing and shouting the lyrics and dancing and jumping around -- it was impossible not to get swept up. Lead-singer Jack Antonoff was very personable with the audience, and I was especially touched when he talked about his relationship with music, how it connects people. It may not have been the most original speech, but he seemed genuine, and, yeah, I could relate (looks like I have a new fan-crush!). I definitely feel more of a personal connection to Bleachers' music now!
I've been going through some stuff recently, but this concert filled me with joy. It was, without a doubt, the best concert I've ever been to.
I've been to a number of concerts before, but that was honestly one of the best I've ever been to. With such a small venue, we were three people from the front and the up close experience was amazing. Royal Tongues was fantastic(!), the first time I've ever truly loved an opening act. The looong wait between the two bands was a bit rough, but it paid off with the show that Bleachers put on. For only 99 cents a ticket, this must have been one of the greatest concert values in history for what we got. With such an electric environment,I am so pumped to get back to Higher Ground for the Odesza concert in March!
The opening act was awesome and got the crowd involved and pumped for the Bleachers. As soon as the lights went out, the crowd went nuts. They knew what was about to happen. They were about to experience one of the best bands around. From the moment they stepped on stage to the second they stepped off, the Bleachers were nothing but perfection. They interacted with the crowd so much and played the perfect set list. They even came back on stage for two more songs! They were absolutely phenomenal and I hope to see them again and meet them the next time they come back here. Hawaii loves you Bleachers!
I saw the Bleachers @ the Crystal Ballroom which was amazing because we were able to get super close to the stage (one or two people away). I loved their energy & you could really see their passion in their performance. The crowd loved them and almost pulled Jack Antonoff into a crowd surf. However the openers, Miss and Bob Moses didn't really pump up the crowd and there were awkward transitions between acts.
Absolutely the best concert I’ve ever been to. They were amazing live and performed a new song as well as all my favorites, even some off of old albums. The freestyle they did was also incredible. I for sure will be seeing them again as soon as they come anywhere near me. The only issue I had was how short it was (which isn’t their fault because it could never be long enough).
As always Jack and his supporting cast put on a great show. They bring great energy and good vibes. Jack makes the crowd feel accepted and his effort to make the people who come to his shows feel appreciated. I love how the band will have a mini jam sesh where Jack and Evan go back and forth trying to one up each other. Overall great experience and an awesome show!
Unbelievable! They had insane amounts of energy, and the venue was surprisingly good! The crowd got so into the music, in big part due to their humor, their attempts to engage the crowd, and the amount of fun they looked like they were having up there. Easy to say I have to see them every time they come to town now!
I saw Bleachers I think 2 years ago in Boston and they impressed me. They put on a very fun, interactive show. They played all of their songs and their cover selection was spot on. This show was no different, amazing from beginning to end. My wife loved them so much, we hope to see them up in Portland again!
I didnt go. It was sold out :( i wasnt sure last week about going. Then this Wednesday say that he had performed on jimmy kimmel so i decided to go before he blows up and tickets get more expensive. And so the morning of i decided i wanted to really go and ticketz were sold out.

The group will kick off the U.S. leg of the tour in Salt Lake City before stopping in cities such as Omaha, Kansas City, Nashville, Dallas, Boston, and Pittsburgh. Absent from the run of shows are gigs in California. (Are Bleachers performing at Coachella?)

Bleachers Announce 2024 U.S. Tour, Promises All-In Pricing
Bleachers, the Jack Antonoff-led indie-rockers, revealed “From the Studio to the Stage” 2024 U.S. tour in support of their forthcoming self-titled album, set to be released on March 8.
The band will hit the road for their nation-wide trek on May 18 starting from The Great Saltair in Salt Lake City, UT. They’ll conclude the month-long run at Shadow of the City in Asbury Park, NJ on June 15 after visiting several venues in cities like Kansas City, Chicago, Nashville, Austin, Boston, DC, and more. Samia will join the band as an opening act on select dates.

Two weeks ago, Antonoff announced the first dates of “From the Studio to the Stage” would be in the U.K., including stops in London (March 19-20), Manchester (March 22), Birmingham (March 23), and Glasgow (March 25).
Ahead of 2024 U.K. and U.S. tours, the band will also meet fans this December at Audacy Riptide Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, as well as in Clearwater, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.
“Alma Mater,” the second single from Bleachers’ upcoming fourth studio album, dropped on November 15. Before the latest track, the band released “Modern Girl” as the first single from their album on September 20. They have delivered three studio albums so far, titled 2014’s Strange Desire , Gone Now in 2017, and 2021’s Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night.
The eight-time Grammy Award-winning musician and producer released a statement regarding the high costs consumers faced due to the added fees to the base price, ensuring, “the ticket price you see is the ticket price you pay.”
“We know there’s lots of issues and confusion when buying tickets to shows,” Antonoff said. “We will always do everything in our power to make this process as clean and transparent as possible for you all. We’ve had conversations from every single venue and promoter to the heads of the companies to limit fees and advertise only the total price to fans for as many shows as possible.”
“This tour means the world to me and I want to make sure everyone gets in the door feeling right,” he added. “Also keep me posted if you encounter anything weird because I wanna know what you guys deal with and be able to take it right to the top of these companies and do my best to make it easier for Bleachers fans and everyone.”
Back in September, Antonoff shared his views about the ongoing inflated ticket prices. He reposted President Biden’s tweet on X, which noted: “Concert tickets are hard enough to get, you shouldn’t have to pay surprise service fees on top of that. My Administration is working to crack down on those junk fees, so you know what you are paying for up front.”
“A show must be a place where an artist can set a price they believe in and can back up and then everyone can meet there at that price and enter that venue as equals,” Antonoff said in a reply to President Biden’s post.
Antonoff is the latest artist to speak-out regarding all-in ticketing. Last month, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) called-out Live Nation to make its all-in pricing view a default setting across Live Nation and Ticketmaster platforms. Live Nation responded that they had done this for the venues it owns and operates but does not have the ability to do so elsewhere. Klobuchar, however, isn’t buying it. She told NBC News that the company could still be more transparent, noting, “They can show how much the ticket costs, and that’s what they need to do.”
A Live Nation pre-sale will begin on Wednesday, December 6 ahead of the general on-sale slated for Friday, December 8 via Ticketmaster. Fans can also obtain Bleachers tickets via MegaSeats (use code “TICKETNEWS” for 10% off), StubHub , or Ticket Club where members can receive a free membership with the code “TICKETNEWS.”

The self-titled album is set for a March 8 release via the record label Dirty Hit, and Bleachers also announced a five-date U.K. tour in promotion of the record for spring 2024.
"Alma Mater" marks Bleachers' latest release following the upcoming album's lead single "Modern Girl," an infectious pop-rock song reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen that features saxophones and a catchy chorus.
Antonoff, known as a go-to producer for artists like Del Rey, Lorde and Taylor Swift , recently received a 2024 Grammy nomination for producer of the year, non-classical, an award he won in 2022 and 2023 after receiving nominations in the category for two previous consecutive years.

Just a Few of the Biggest Concert Tours of 2024, from Olivia Rodrigo to Bad Bunny
Posted: April 11, 2024 | Last updated: April 11, 2024
Listening to your favorite musician at home is fun, but there's nothing quite like the experience of singing along with them, and tons of more fans, live. And as luck would have it, 2024 is shaping up to be a massive year for some of the world's top musical acts, so chances are your favorite performer might be stopping at a city near you soon.
Ahead, we rounded up some of the biggest concert tours of 2024, ranging from Taylor Swift's mega-popular Eras Tour to Drake and J. Cole's exciting It's All A Blur Tour - Big as the What?—set to kick off this winter. You can also expect tour dates from classic icons like Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and more.
1) Taylor Swift
Undoubtedly one of the biggest concert tours ever, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour will continue right through 2024. The international leg of the tour kicked off in Japan, where she played four shows in Tokyo. She'll also stop in Melbourne, Singapore, Paris, Madrid, London, Milan, and more before returning to the States to play in the fall.
There's nothing like seeing T. Swift IRL, but don't fret if you're unable to nab tickets—the Eras Tour movie is now available to stream from the comfort of your home.
2) Olivia Rodrigo
This is not a drill—"Drivers License" singer Olivia Rodrigo will be hitting the road on tour starting at the end of February. The Guts World Tour runs from February through mid-August and has dates in Nashville, Toronto, Chicago, and New York City, among others. Even cooler? Rodrigo will have a stacked list of special guests—like PinkPantheress, Remi Wolf, The Breeders, and Chappell Roan—with her.
3) Red Hot Chili Peppers
Did you hear the good news? The Red Hot Chili Peppers have extended their global tour through summer 2024. The buzzy stadium tour, which kicked off in June 2022, will now run until July 2024 and bring the California-based band to places like Los Angeles, Tampa, Toronto, and Salt Lake City.
4) Bad Bunny
It's fitting that "Monaco" rapper Bad Bunny titled his tour Most Wanted —it's slated to be one of the year's hottest tours. Planned to help promote his latest studio album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana , Most Wanted will kick off in Salt Lake City on February 21 and run through May 26.
5) Billy Joel
If you haven't yet seen Billy Joel perform live, there's still time! The Piano Man has added more tour dates to his schedule, stopping in cities like Tampa, New York, Denver, and St. Louis this year. Even more exciting? He'll share the stage with fellow iconic performers Sting and Stevie Nicks for some of these dates.
Mitski recently announced that she's expanding her North American tour dates , and we couldn't be more excited. The months-long tour, which supports her 2023 studio album The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, has a long list of stops, including Miami Beach, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and Paris.
There's nothing quite like a Madonna concert, that's for sure. The singer's Celebration Tour , which started last October, continues straight through the spring with dates in Seattle, San Francisco, Mexico City, and more. Besides her eye-catching sets, chart-topping songs, and impressive choreography, concertgoers also get a glimpse of the performer's fantastic costumes, which include looks from Versace and Jean Paul Gaultier.
8) Bleachers
The New Jersey-founded rock band, which is fronted by Jack Antonoff—known for producing albums for top acts like Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Lana Del Rey—not only has announced a new album but a new tour , too. The tour will start in the UK in March, ending fittingly in the band's home state of New Jersey in mid-June. Check out their newly released music video for "Tiny Moves" if you need a Bleachers fix in the meantime.
9) Nicki Minaj
Nicki fans rejoice: the rapper and singer might be coming to a city near you soon as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. The massive tour will include performances in Brooklyn, Oakland, and Baltimore, with stops at Dreamville Festival and Rolling Loud California along the way.
10) Blink 182
Live out all of your nineties and early aughts pop-punk dreams with one of Blink 182's One More Time Tour dates. The tour, which supports the band's ninth studio album, One More Time..., will bring the trio to cities all over the globe, including Sydney, Santiago, Portland, and Boston. The tour's supporting act is Pierce the Veil, which is also worth checking out.
11) Stevie Nicks
The oh-so-magical Stevie Nicks continues her touring streak with a bunch of 2024 concert dates . Set to begin in Atlantic City, NJ on February 10, Nicks will visit a dozen cities throughout the U.S. this year, such as New Orleans, Omaha, and Chicago. "Let's keep this party going in 2024," the singer-songwriter posted on her Instagram in September to announce the newly added tour dates.
12) The 1975
The 1975 is showing no signs of slowing down. The British band, famous for hits like "Somebody Else" and "Robbers," has extended their 2023 tour through 2024. Titled Still...At Their Very Best , the 22-date tour will open in Glasgow on February 8 and conclude in Amsterdam on March 24.
13) Drake and J. Cole
Rap greats Drake and J. Cole come together for the It's All a Blur Tour – Big As the What? which is guaranteed to be a good time. Drake, fresh off his 2023 It's All a Blur tour with 21 Savage, is set to hit dozens of cities starting in February, many of which J. Cole will also be in tow for. Scoop up tickets ASAP, as Drake's shows are known to sell out.
14) Janet Jackson
Superstar Janet Jackson is also extending her 2023 tour, Together Again , into 2024 with dates in Anaheim, Austin, New Orleans, and Hartford. Even cooler? Jackson's supporting act is the 2000s southern rap legend Nelly.
15) Rolling Stones
If you've ever dreamed of seeing the Rolling Stones perform live in person, now's your chance. The iconic rockers, who released their studio album Hackney Diamonds this past fall, are returning on the road for a 16-date tour with shows throughout the United States and Canada. Concertgoers can expect a mix of new tunes and Stones classics.
16) Bruce Springsteen
Famous for countless listenable hits like "Born to Run" and "Glory Days," Bruce Springsteen is set to embark on a massive world tour this year with his band, The E Street Band. The much-anticipated tour will take the Boss and his crew to cities such as Phoenix, San Diego, Dublin, and Madrid, from March through November.
17) John Mayer
Be sure to catch John Mayer's solo tour this year, which will bring the guitarist and crooner to cities throughout Europe. This leg, an extension of his popular 2023 solo tour, will kick off in Stockholm on March 13 and finish in Dublin on March 29.
18) Shania Twain
Okay, this one is technically a residency , but we're excited nonetheless. Shania Twain, most known for her incredible outfits (her hooded leopard print look, anyone?) and hits like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" is setting up shop in Vegas starting May 10. Twain's residency will take place at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood on and off throughout December 2024.
All good things must come to an end. The Eagles, known for "Hotel California" and other amazing rock songs, began their final concert tour this winter. It launched in Phoenix on January 20, with March 16 as its last date in the United States. Eagles fans won't want to miss this one.
20) Alanis Morisette: The Triple Moon Tour
Alanis Morisette joins forces with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts for their 2024 Triple Moon Tour , which has dates in North America and Canada. This tour is a great one to catch this summer, as it's slated to run from June through August.

Bleacher Report Names Newcomer as Vikings' Most Overpaid Player
Did the Vikings overpay for Jonathan Greenard after a breakout season?
- Author: Will Ragatz
In this story:
According to Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon , newly-signed edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is the Vikings' most overpaid player in 2024. The Vikings signed Greenard to a four-year, $76 million deal with $42 million guaranteed, choosing him to be their replacement for Danielle Hunter. The two edge rushers swapped teams in free agency, with Greenard going from the Texans to the Vikings and Hunter going from the Vikings to the Texans.
One can understand where Gagnon is coming from with that take. Greenard had one sack as a rookie, eight in his second season, 1.5 in 2022, and then 12.5 in his breakout 2023 campaign. The context is that he was a rotational player as a rookie and then missed much of his third year due to injury. His injury history does also present a bit of a risk for the Vikings, but it's not on the level of someone like Marcus Davenport last year.
Greenard is also more than just a one-year wonder. During the 2021 season, he had eight sacks, four passes defended, two forced fumbles, 27 pressures, and an 89.2 PFF pass rush grade on just over 400 defensive snaps. Even in his injury-marred 2022 season, he managed to finish with six tackles for loss and a pick-six. Greenard didn't come totally out of nowhere last year when he recorded 12.5 sacks, 48 pressures, and a 78.2 PFF grade.
Is there a chance that Greenard disappoints this year? Of course there is. He could get hurt or simply regress. But I'm optimistic about what he'll bring to the table in Minnesota if he's healthy. The idea that he won't be the same now that he isn't playing with Will Anderson Jr. in Houston feels foolish. Greenard is highly impressive on film, and he's joining players like Andrew Van Ginkel and Ivan Pace Jr. in a Brian Flores front that utilizes all kinds of creative pressure packages to get to the quarterback. Greenard will be 27 this season and feels like the kind of player who could continue ascending and have another big year.
Plus, only $42 million is guaranteed, so the Vikings could move on after two or three years if Greenard underperforms or struggles to stay on the field. On an AAV of $19 million per year that ranks 16th among NFL edge rushers, I don't think Greenard is particularly overpaid. But we'll find out this fall.

Pro comparisons for the top 8 nhl prospects at the 2024 frozen four.
Editor's note: This article was originally published on Bleacher Report and was adapted for NCAA.com
The NCAA men's Frozen Four gets underway on Thursday and with it comes a load of talent to watch among all four teams.
With Boston College taking on Michigan and Boston University facing Denver, we want to familiarize you with some of the notable college players who will be on display by comparing them as best as we can to current NHL players.
The fun part about making comparisons is that it's something almost every scout hates doing. It sets unreasonable and often unrealistic expectations for those players, and these things often have a way of coming back to make talent evaluators look a little foolish.
So, we're going to take a crack at it, because you can't hurt us with our own words and we're not paid to be scouts. But when you watch enough games and video of the players, certain players come to mind immediately as to who they remind you of.
That's pretty much our methodology here.
Cutter Gauthier as Alex Tuch
Maybe it's because Cutter Gauthier plays for Boston College and is a power forward with a lot of skill to go with his size that made us think of Alex Tuch. After all, the Buffalo Sabres star is a former Eagle and a power forward with size and skill.
Or maybe it's because Gauthier plays in such a similar way, you'd think Boston College only wants to have players built like that to load up its roster.
However, when you watch how the 20-year-old handles himself in open space and around the net with the kind of hands and shot we've seen Tuch use to light it up in Vegas and Buffalo, it's hard not to picture the two being similar.
Gauthier is the leading goal scorer in college hockey because he's able to use all of those gifts to make life miserable for opposing teams and that he's a Hobey Baker Award finalist is no surprise, either.
Anaheim Ducks fans will be relishing the idea of Gauthier lining up alongside Leo Carlsson and Trevor Zegras down the line.
Macklin Celebrini as Mitch Marner
The easiest way to describe Macklin Celebrini is to take a look down the list of past no-doubt No. 1 picks in the NHL draft and select the one he's most like. After all, he will be the No. 1 pick in June and his abilities are off the charts.
Consider he's 17 years old and tied for second in the country in scoring. He's having the best freshman season in college hockey since Jack Eichel in 2015 and Paul Kariya in 1993. That is esteemed company in college hockey and the hype he's been getting is very real.
But is he like Connor Bedard? Sort of. Their size is similar, but their skills are different.
Is he like Connor McDavid? No, because no one is.
Sidney Crosby? Well, kind of. Like Crosby, Celebrini is an avowed perfectionist and will do whatever he can to round out any of his weaknesses.
But Celebrini's abilities, size, speed, shot and passing ability remind us of Toronto's Mitch Marner. Watching him in open space causes opposing teams to freeze. He can beat them with his shot, moves or a pass to an open teammate.
While Marner gets lost in the spotlight on Auston Matthews, just think of what it'll be like if Chicago wins the lottery again and lands Celebrini to play with Bedard.
Will Smith as Leon Draisaitl
Although the San Jose Sharks' season couldn't be going worse, their biggest highlight of the year is seeing how great Will Smith has been at Boston College.
Smith is the leading scorer in college hockey and his ability to score goals himself or set up his array of top NHL prospect teammates has allowed him to show off everything he can do. Gosh, that sounds like a familiar set of abilities...just like Leon Draisaitl.
Draisaitl is an immensely talented player capable of scoring himself or feeding pucks to Connor McDavid or Zach Hyman or Evander Kane or...well, you get the idea.
Smith isn't as big as Draisaitl, but he plays the game with the same kind of fervor and tenacity. Giving him room to create is a bad idea for opposing teams and giving him room to uncork his outstanding shot is also not great for keeping Boston College off the board.
The Sharks can only hope Smith turns out to be the same kind of caliber as Draisaitl, but the Eagles are targeting a national championship with him first.
🏒 LIVE UPDATES: 2024 DI men's ice hockey championship
Rutger McGroarty as Robert Thomas
Watching Rutger McGroarty play a solid all-around game and provide the kind of offense that helps to uplift his Michigan teammates means he could be a reasonable comparison for several NHL players.
When you watch him play and take his size into account, though, comparing him to Blues forward Robert Thomas makes a lot of sense.
At 6'1" and 200 pounds, McGroarty has good size for the college game and is able to use that to his benefit to hang onto pucks and drive the offense. This is something Thomas has been able to do in St. Louis and has helped him set up teammates like Jordan Kyrou.
Every great team needs a leader who is capable of playing unselfish hockey, and McGroarty has been that for Michigan.
When he winds up in Winnipeg, he'll have more Wolverines flavor alongside Kyle Connor.
Jack Devine as Jake Guentzel
Even though Denver's Jack Devine doesn't always generate a ton of attention nationally, sleeping on him is a bad idea.
While Denver doesn't come with the same kind of history and hype the other teams in the 2024 Frozen Four do, Devine is helping change that conversation by being a forward capable of pressuring the puck all over the ice and forcing the issue in the offensive zone.
What makes Devine rather like Jake Guentzel is how ever-present he is around the net. Whether he's driving to the goal with or without the puck, Devine forces defenders to deal with him. And the way he's able to always get around the net has paid off handsomely for him and the Pioneers this year.
Like Guentzel, Devine is a relentless worker whose efforts sometimes overshadow his superb skill set. He never stops moving and attacking the puck. If he turns into a good professional player, the Panthers will be even richer up front.
Ryan Leonard as Gabriel Landeskog
Finding the right comparable for Ryan Leonard is difficult.
He doesn't have the kind of size his teammate Cutter Gauthier has, but he plays the game physically with skill. He has no fear of getting into dirty areas or in board battles, and he's more than capable of scoring goals and being a threat on the power play (his 13 power-play goals are tied for most in the country).
Although we've haven't seen Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog play for some time, that kind of descriptive profile seems to match up with him.
While Landeskog eventually became a stronger and weightier player to help him play more physically, expect Leonard to do the same when it's time for him to take the jump into pro hockey. That he's had a ton of success already at Boston College at 6'0", 192 pounds and plays that kind of hockey tells us that when it's time for him to graduate, he'll be ready.
His 31 goals and 36 penalty minutes in 39 games makes him one of the most penalized players among the top scorers in the country. Playing big always gets the officials' attention and Leonard's play will get everyone's attention regardless.
The Washington Capitals will be overjoyed when he's able to join them.
Gavin Brindley as Johnny Gaudreau
This comparison is perhaps a bit unfair, but when there are so few offensively dynamic players in the NHL under six-feet tall, it really cuts down the field of choices.
For Michigan's Gavin Brindley at 5'9" 170 pounds, most NHL comparable players are retired by now, but one who isn't and also played college hockey is Johnny Gaudreau.
Like Gaudreau, Brindley is capable of piling up goals while flying up the wings and using his smaller size to get into tougher areas around the net.
His speed and skill help give Michigan a dynamic weapon to score against opponents and while his size may fool some into thinking he can't withstand tougher defenses, that's usually a good way to ensure he can beat you.
That we're comparing Brindley to Gaudreau, and that Columbus drafted Brindley is not just a cheeky play by us. When you see how he attacks the game and feeds off his teammates, the comparison makes a lot of sense.
Zeev Buium as Luke Hughes
Being a young, puck-moving defenseman who piles up points in college hockey is inevitably going to draw comparisons to a small handful of players.
A year ago, we compared Boston University's Lane Hutson to Quinn Hughes , and Denver's Zeev Buium reminds us a bit of Quinn's brother, Luke, this year.
Buium is tied with Hutson as the highest-scoring defenseman in the nation, but the key difference here is Buium is a freshman and just turned 18 in December. Watching how he handles the puck up and down the ice as well as how he manages it at the blue line within the attacking zone shows his intuition for the position is sky-high.
With 49 points including 11 goals, Buium's ability to seamlessly jump into college hockey and play at an elite level all before he's even been drafted by an NHL team compares to the hype Luke Hughes had going into his first season at Michigan.
Although Hughes had hype built in thanks to older brothers Quinn and Jack, Buium has been able to make a name for himself even with his older brother (and teammate) Sha—a 2021 second-round pick of Detroit—holding it down.
Watching Buium have the season he's having at his age and playing on defense highlights why he'll be a top pick in the draft this season.
