The A Journey to Love ending has gotten C-drama fans abuzz as it is packed with lots of big moments . Thus, it’s no surprise that many wuxia drama fans had a lot to say about its ending online.

Of course, some viewers may still be wondering what happened in the end, especially regarding the main characters. After all, the ending does leave some elements open to interpretation.

Perhaps the biggest thing about the show’s ending is the fact that the main pairing Ren Ru Yi and Ning Yuan Zhou seem to have died, at least based on earlier fan reactions.

Many fans noted that there was no final goodbye made between the two. There was also no corpse shown. Because of this many believe that Ren Ru Yi and Ning Yuan Zhou survived the drama’s finale.

Soon after the episode was released, there have been lots of alternate interpretations online regarding the status of the two characters.

For instance, a Reddit discussion thread about the finale interpreted the ending to be that the main couple is alive.

The prevailing theory here is that the two faked their deaths and began living quite lives together.

While there are still some debates online about what truly happened in the end, the show seems to be pretty definitive when it comes to the other character deaths.

Ren Ru Yi and Ning Yuan Zhou are the primary characters, but many viewers have also fallen in love with the show’s entertaining supporting cast.

Sadly, the A Journey to Love ending was a tragic one for the rest of the group. That’s because Yu Shi San, Yuan Lu, and Qian Zhao died in the finale.

At least fans seemed to take solace in the fact that they died heroic deaths. This doesn’t seem to be enough for some fans though as there are some complaints about the ending.

Synopsis and Plot Summary

The story begins with the feud between the An Country and the Wu Country. Emperor An was warlike and greedy and captured many cities from neighboring territories. Meanwhile, the State of Wu was prosperous and strong as its economy developed rapidly.

The greedy Emperor An wanted gold mines in Western Wu which led to war between the An State and the Wu State.

Emperor Wu personally led an army to fight south of the Tianmen Pass. However, due to internal conflict, Wu suffered defeat and their emperor was taken hostage.

Emperor An wanted the 100,000 taels of gold sent by the prince as a ransom for Emperor Wu. Ning Yuanzhou, the former leader of Liudao Hall, was recalled to escort Princess Yang Ying and bring the emperor home.

Even though he initially refused and no longer wanted to be involved in politics, Ning Yuanzhou ultimately accepted the order to protect Princess Yang Ying and to clear the names of his brothers-in-arms who were labeled as traitors.

On the trip to An Country, Ning Yuanzhou was accompanied by Yuan Lu who was skilled in mechanics, Qian Zhao who was skilled in medicine and knowledgeable, Yu Shisan who seemed only interested in beauty, and Sun Lang who was great at defense.

An assassin from An, Ren Ruyi, also came along to teach Princess Yang Ying everything about the Country of An. In return, Ning Yuanzhou helped find the real murderer of Empress Zhaojie.

Not only about politics, war, and revenge, this Chinese drama also presents the romantic relationship between Ning Yuanzhou and Ren Ruyi.

A Journey to Love Chinese Drama Ending Explained

A Journey to Love Chinese drama has an ending that surprises everyone because the main characters all die (“everyone”). The drama makes their deaths beautiful, but I don’t know if this is good or not.

At the end of the episode, Ren Ruyi blows up the wolf king and the Zuo Xian king including himself with a fire bomb but not before impaling them with a hairpin. His chances of survival are very small and are not shown clearly.

At the end of the scene fast forward to a decade later, a boy named Ning Shisan comes to Chu Yue and claims that he has a sister named Ren Lu.

He also his father’s last name is Ning and his mother’s last name is Ren. So does that mean… they’re not dead? Or at least Ning Yanzhou and Ren Ruyi? But how to do it after the explosion?

This ending left everyone feeling a little confused and left a lot of question marks, “Are they still alive?” “Will there be a second season?”.

But, if that ending was the screenwriter’s way of turning things around and keeping it from becoming a bad drama, then it leaves viewers with more questions than answers.

A Journey to Love Chinese Drama Review

Many people say that for them A Journey to Love is the best Chinese drama of the year, but for me, it has solidified its position as one of my favorite C-dramas of all time.

A Journey to Love is a story about sisterhood, friendship, romance, loyalty, and growth. The two leads, the assassin Ren Xin and the spy Ning Yuanzhou are two opposites, meeting in a very unexpected situation.

They joined hands in helping each other seek justice for themselves and their loved ones so as not to be falsely accused by their own states.

Together with the naive Princess Yang Ying and her former brother-in-arms Yuanzhou, they embark on a cheesy-sounding journey teaching them all about life, love, and death.

As for the character, I have long been waiting for a strong Female Lead, a killer as perfect as Ren Xin played by Liu Shi Shi.

However, I think the female lead’s obsession with taking revenge on the empress was a bit forced into the script (a slight flaw).

Meanwhile, Ning Yuanzhou, played by Liu Yu Ning, is a man whose mind is full of brilliant strategies and unmatched tactics.

He once wanted to live a peaceful life away from palace politics, but agreed to join the convoy to protect Princess Yang Ying and also to clear the good names of the men of The Heaven Path who were labeled as traitors.

Qian Zhao, played by Wang Yi Zhe, is a former member of the Heaven’s Path who was transferred to the Yulin Army under special orders because of his meritorious service.

He is now the commander of the Yulin Army who is highly skilled in medicine and life-saving skills. He’s versatile. He appears stoic but is most invested in clearing the names of the fallen warriors of Heaven’s path, especially Chai Ming.

Yu Shi San played by Alen Fang is a former commander of the Asura path, who was imprisoned for kidnapping Minister Liu’s daughter, he seems reckless and a person who is only interested in pleasure and beauty but is the most emotional, caring member of the group.

Yuan Lu, played by Chen You Wei, is the greatest genius of the Hungry Ghost Path whose martial arts skills are average but great at building mechanical devices useful for spying and warfare.

All the main characters are well developed and the main cast’s acting is phenomenal. All the actors here do their job well, their acting is very good and have real chemistry.

Is A Journey to Love worth watching? very worthy with all aspects perfect in terms of writing, acting, cinematography, and chemistry.

Overall, A Journey to Love is one of the best Chinese dramas I have ever watched in terms of acting, writing, cinematography, and strong characters, there is never a dull moment.

All the actors and actresses in this series are amazing. The characters and character development were very satisfying, I even felt sympathy for the villains.

The script is well written and the music score or soundtrack is beautifully done. I highly recommend this fantastic and highly entertaining series to you. So, for this A Journey to Love Chinese drama review, I would give it a score of 9/10.

This is the Ending Explained for A Journey to Love Episode 40. Ren Ruyi loses her hope after her lover Ning Yuanzhou was killed after he saved Li Tongguang. She goes to kill North Pan King and Left Prince. She kills herself then.

Is Yu Shisan Dead?

Note: From here on out there are specific plot spoilers for A Journey to Love Episode 40.

Yu Shisan and Deng Hui were killed in episode 39. Ning Yuanzhou remembers Yu Shisan smiled to say goodbye to him. He misses his best brother. Ren Ruyi comforts Ning Yuanzhou that Yu Shisan fulfilled his wishes. They promise to be alive. But Yang Ying reports to Ning Yuanzhou that Li Tongguang went to kill the North Pan King.

Li Tongguang writes a letter to Ren Ruyi. He feels guilty for making Yu Shisan and Deng Hui die. He wishes to be a hero Ren Ruyi mentioned. Ning Yuanzhou decides to go to save Li Tongguang because Li Tongguang is Ren Ruyi’s disciple.

How Does Ning Yuanzhou Die?

Ning Yuanzhou finds Li Tongguang in the battlefield. He reminds him that he’s the regent of An Kingdom. Li Tongguang gets convinced. They decide to return to the city. But the problem is that the city wall is too high. Ning Yuanzhou get stabbed when he guards Li Tongguang.

He lets Ren Ruyi use the rope to save Li Tongguang. Ning Yuanzhou knows he’s going to die. So he rushes to the enemies. He’s killed by the enemies. Ren Ruyi thinks Ning Yuanzhou broke his promise when she stands on the city wall.

Li Tongguang apologizes to Ren Ruyi. But she thinks he didn’t make big mistake. She reveals she intended to kill North Pan King. She thinks Li Tongguang made a mistake to try to kill North Pan King on his own. She reminds him that she’s the best killer of An Kingdom.

Ren Ruyi thinks they cannot wait for it. She reminds that people that North Pan troops will attack the city soon. She asks Li Tongguang for the seal of An Kingdom. He agrees to it. She takes out the hairpin of Empress Dowager. She thinks it’s enough if she has the hairpin and the seal. Yang Ying persuades Ren Ruyi not to do that. But Ren Ruyi thinks she just go to complete the task Ning Yuanzhou didn’t complete. She looks at the snow.

Does Ren Ruyi Kill North Pan King?

Ren Ruyi pretends to be the Empress Dowager of An Kingdom. She borrows two bombs from Yang Ying. She intends to make Left Prince and North Pan King have a fight. Left Prince agrees to see Ren Ruyi after knowing she wishes to marry him.

Ren Ruyi visits Left Prince’s tent. Left Prince falls for her after he saw her. He tries to touch her. But North Pan King shows up. He mistakes that his son intends to rebel. But he finds out that Ren Ruyi is a killer. Ren Ruyi kills North Pan King and Left Prince.

Is Ren Ruyi Alive?

Ren Ruyi can flee after she killed North Pan King and Left Prince. Because she’s the best killer. But she doesn’t want to be alive. Because she lost hope after Ning Yuanzhou died. She remembers the happy hour she spent with Ning Yuanzhou. She uses the bombs to kill herself and the soldiers in the tent.

Li Tongguang rushes out of He City with his soldiers after his master died. He fights with the soldiers of North Pan Kingdom. Emperor Wu shows up with his troops. He joins Li Tongguang. The two work together to defeat the troops of North Pan Kingdom. It makes North Pan Kingdom not attack An Kingdom.

Do Ning Yuanzhou and Ren Ruyi Have A Son?

Ning Yuanzhou and Ren Ruyi are killed in the battle. It’s impossible that they have a son. It’s just Chu Yue’s imagination.

Episode 40 of A Journey to Love ends with Chu Yue becoming the queen of Shaxi Kingdom. She takes a walk. She sees someone riding horse to her. She remembers Yu Shisan rode horse to her. She finds out that the person is a boy. The boy gets off his white horse. The boy explains to Chu Yue that he doesn’t know how to ride the horse because it was just given by Uncle Ding.

Chu Yue asks the kid about his name. The boy reveals he’s Ning Shisan. Chu Yue thinks Ning Shisan’s mother is Miss Ren. Ning Shisan is surprised that Chu Yue knows her mother. He reveals he has a little sister Ren Lu. Chu Yue wishes to visit Ning Shisan’s home.

Ning Shisan asks Chu Yue if she likes wine. He believes that she will be a good friend of his parents. Chu Yue tells Ning Shisan that she likes wine. She hugs him when she cries. She sees Ren Ruyi, Ning Yuanzhou, Sun Lang, Qian Zhao, Yuan Lu and Yu Shisan riding horses. She asks Ning Shisan to take her to his house. She leaves with the boy.

Ren Ruyi, Ning Yuanzhou, Sun Lang, Qian Zhao, Yuan Lu and Yu Shisan are killed in the battle. Only Chu Yue, Yang Ying and Li Tongguang survive. A Journey to Love doesn’t reveal what happened to Yang Ying and Li Tongguang. I think they will return to An Kingdom.

Li Tongguang continues to be the regent to support the new emperor. Yang Ying will help him as his wife. Li Tongguang promises Ning Yuanzhou that he will take a duty for the nation. He grows up to be a man after 40 episodes. Chu Yue becomes the new queen of Shaxi Kingdom. But she lost his lover forever. Yang Ying lost his lover Yuan Lu as well.

Does A Journey to Love Have a Good Ending?

A Journey to Love have a bad ending. Because all of the main roles are dead. Ning Yuanzhou and Ren Ruyi don’t get together. But the drama makes their death beautiful. Their ending has been decided after Ning Yuanzhou decided to accept the task to escort Yang Ying to An Kingdom. Fortunately, Chu Yue remembers them.

I’m just wasting my time to watch this drama…Every night after my work I check every other episodes come in..Even the drama us having great scenes still useless because their efforts is definitely in vain.. Although they died as hero for their contribution for their own country, so what this is just drama what’s the problem if just to give happy ending to the Female & male Lead??? Do they need to die?? I really hate this drama , it’s really spoiled my mood these days!.. I regreted to watch this, my time is wasted !..

My bad, hw I wish I couldn’t watched this movie, i love it from the beginning but I didn’t expect them to die at the end, then why must they promise each other to bear a child after every war ends It a tragedy I waste so much of my time on it Thinking the ending is gonna be smooth.

After clinging on to female heroines in these dramas .. why can’t they have a happy ending. As much butt whooping & bleeding they do throughout the movie .. a happy ending not much to ask for.

“A Journey to Love” Leaves Fans Lamenting Over That Ending

Well. It was an ending that blew everyone’s minds…  and I don’t mean that in a good way. Liu Shishi and Liu Yuning ’s A Journey to Love just aired its final episode and if the spoilers littering the internet aren’t enough, let’s just say that it was an ending viewers totally didn’t see coming. After all, “everyone” well, died.

Okay to be fair, that’s the assumption since it’s highly unlikely that Liu Shishi’s Ren Ruyi survived when she basically blew up the wolf lord and the Zuo Xian king including herself with fire bombs but not before stabbing them with a hairpin. And then fast forward to a decade later, a boy named Ning Shisan comes riding up to Chu Yue claiming he has a sister named Ren Lu, and that his dad’s surname is Ning and his mum’s is Ren? So does that mean .. they aren’t dead? Or at least Ning Yanzhou and Ren Ruyi ? But how?

Bad Ending?

This ending clearly left everyone feeling a tad confused. What’s more, since the finale aired, drama fans can’t seem to stop lamenting over many things – that open ending for one thing and how Ren Ruyi broke character in the story. Then there’s also the messy editing amongst other things.

The drama started out strong when it first aired, receiving a lot of love and praise from viewers. However, after the screenwriters started killing off their little group of Fang Yilun , Wang Yizhe and Chen Youwei either in battle or through exhaustion, viewers have been complaining over the sadistic turn of the story. Heck even the numbers are telling as the show’s ranking has now dropped from 7.5 down to 6.9 on Douban. But man, if that ending is the screenwriter’s way of turning things around (just a smidge) and keep it from being a complete BE (bad ending) drama, they’ve certainly left viewers with more questions than answers.

I have no issues with tragic endings. After all, life is more often tragic than bliss, especially in those days and times. What I hate is illogicality of plot and storyline, done for the sake of just baiting viewers’ interests. The best thing about this drama is the bond of brotherhood and the loyalty between the 5 of them. RuYi’s romance arc is rather emotionally redundant. In fact, I find RuYi’s character the least interesting of the lot. Heck, I feel more for that “obsessed mother seeking” disciple of hers than for her.

Good drama, good cast, story line from beginning to middle is very interesting and intriguing. Unfortunately the ending is sad and confusing

In a recent press conference, the Chinese network giant iQIYI unveiled the list of C-dramas that will debut in the second quarter of the year. These iQIYI C-dramas will cover a plethora of genres, including history, fantasy, and thrillers. Many prominent names in the C-drama world, including Hu Yitian, Luo Zheng, Dylan Kuo, and Xu Yiyang, are among those who will make a return.

The list of iQIYI C-dramas includes Running Like a Shooting Star, Perfect Her, Peacock in Wonderland, Men in Love, etc.

1. Running Like a Shooting Star

This sports C-drama by iQIYI premiered on April 17, 2024. It features Gan Wang Xing, Jin Xiao, Mai Wu Lan, Zhou Yan Zhe, and Mai Wu Lan in the lead roles. It tells the story of Qi Tian (Gan Wan Xing), a sprinting prodigy who gives up his dream. But his senior at the university motivates him to return to the tracks. He meets a group of friends who share the same dream as him. They rely on each other to reclaim their passions and past hobbies.

2. Perfect Her

This romantic C-drama is an adaptation of the popular mahua “Jiu Ai Xin Yan” by Yoolook. It tells the story of Ning Mo Chen (Xu Yiyang), who dies in a car accident. A strange phenomenon forces her to swap souls with her husband’s mistress. As Mo Chen reincarnates as her husband’s mistress, she embarks on a journey to find the culprit and take her revenge. 

3. Men in Love

This upcoming iQIYI C-drama features Hu Yitan and Liang Jie in the lead roles. The plot depicts the struggles of relationships between several couples. While some struggle to be with their partner, others struggle to confess their love. Ye Han (Hu Yitan) and Li Xiaoxiao (Liang Jie) come close as they continue to work together. But Xiaoxiao is secretly in love with Jia Cheng (Dai Xu). What happens when Ye Han slowly starts to develop feelings for Xiaoxiao? There are also other couples in their circle of friends who are facing relationship issues.

4. The Substitute Princess’s Love

This ongoing fantasy iQIYI C-drama premiered on April 26, 2024. After Wen Ye (Dylan Luo), the God of war passes away at war, the mother of his would-be bride finds a new bride to save her daughter from humiliation. But it was all a miscommunication, and Wan Ye successfully returned from war. His new bride, Shen Ke Yi (Zhang Miao Yi), is the illegitimate daughter of the Shen family. Wan Ye teaches her the true meaning of love, and the duo learns to value each other’s company the most.

5. Peacock in Wonderland

This iQIYI C-drama premiered on April 19, 2024. It tells the story of physics genius Hua Ni (Zhang Chu Han), who accidentally travels to the fantastic Peacock City and becomes the holy envoy. Hua Ni runs into many problems with the Peacock Sect, but Li Muyang (Zhou Jun Wei), from the Ministry of Rites, saves her every time. But problems arise as she finds out that Muyang is actually the leader of Baihuasha, an assassin organization. Hua Ni falls for Muyang as she finds out how his organization helps the common people.
