Disney Dreamlight Valley: How To Time Travel (And Why You Shouldn’t Do It!)

Disney Dreamlight Valley follows a daily schedule of events — depending on your day and the various timers running down using your system clock — different things will happen. Chests will appear daily. New quests will begin. Crops will grow. Lots of events and triggers are dependent on the in-game clock, and players can manipulate that clock pretty easily. If you’re familiar at all with Animal Crossing , you’ll be familiar with Time Travel . It works by the same principles, and it is also a mistake to try it here .

Time-travelling is not how the game was intended to be played, and the developers have stated that any bugs related to time travel are low-priority for fixing. Using time travel, even for a few hours, can permanently ruin your game . The #1 reason to time-travel originally was to farm for Dream Shards . As of the recent September patch, Dream Shards are no longer an issue and can be collected easily from daily glowing dig sites or feeding animals.

Below, I’ll explain exactly how to Time Travel — but seriously, you don’t want to do this. Not only can you lose 50+ hours of progress, but you can potentially lock your game progress, forcing you to restart from scratch if you want to experience everything the game has to offer. You don’t risk banning, you just risk causing in-game bugs that the developers aren’t likely to fix anytime soon.

How Time Travel Works

Time travel is a trick used to jump ahead in time and progress faster — in Disney Dreamlight Valley , time travel can be used to spawn daily chests faster, grow crops, change the time of day, or unlock new daily quests. Disney Dreamlight Valley uses your system internal clock, so all you have to do to change the time in your game is to change the time on your system .

• Go to Settings -> Date & Time -> Toggle Off “ Set time automatically “
• Under Set the date and time manually -> Select “ Change “

You can also change the time zone without turning off automatic time setting.

• Go to Setting (Gear Icon) -> Profile & System -> Settings -> System -> Time
• Change the Time Zone from the dropdown menu.

Xbox time cannot be changed while connected to Xbox Live, so you can only change your time zone. Select a time zone that’s a day or more off — it can be trickier to do, but still saves some time.

Now let’s talk about why you shouldn’t use time travel .

• Using Time Travel can lock you out of progression randomly. Nobody knows exactly what causes time travel to go haywire, it just happens. Even if you’ve only done it once.
• Once you’re locked out of progression, you’ll have to reset your save file completely . You’ll lose everything and have to restart from scratch. That could be 50+ hours of work down the drain instantly. And you won’t know that everything is messed up right away.

The devs have already stated that bugs related to time travel are low-priority — they may never fix these issues as they’re not how the game was intended to be played. The rewards are relatively small for time travelling, but the drawbacks are enormous. Seriously, don’t do it !

Of course, this shouldn't be a surprise. Even the merest knowledge of popular culture tells us that time travel pretty much never ends well. And even in a Disney fantasy world, that seems to ring true. We'll call this McFly's law of unintended consequences.

Luckily, we can explain what's going on. Imagine us resembling Doc Brown and stating all this with a similarly wide-eyed, manic delivery. We'll help you fix the Disney Dreamlight Valley time travel bug, but we can't do anything about your kids.

How To Fix The Disney Dreamlight Valley Time Travel Bug

If you find yourself suffering from the Dreamlight Valley time travel bug, there is currently only one fix available to you.

You will simply have to wait until the date you skipped to is in sync with the date in real life. So we hope for your sake that you didn't time travel thirty years into the future. If that's you, then you may need to start a new game.

As we said before, time travel almost never ends well. But what exactly is going on with this error? We'll explain why it's happening, next.

What Is The Dreamlight Valley Time Travel Bug?

If you're a player of Dreamlight Valley, you'll be all too familiar with the many errors that have been affecting the game. Examples include the Dreamlight Valley cloud save error , and Dreamlight Valley crashes .

While a patch has been released to address these and a number of other issues, the patch itself seems to have triggered a series of new issues.

In particular, players are struggling to find items or collect items, thus making it difficult to make any further progress with the game.

As a result, players have been resorting to time skipping (changing the time on their PC or console to make the game think the time is later than it actually is) in an effort to bypass cooldowns and resets, and make items respawn.

It seems to be a fairly serious issue that renders the game close to unplayable. And the initial bug that time travel is intended to overcome isn't a great deal better.

It's likely that such a serious bug will be addressed in another, future patch. So keep your eyes peeled for any further game updates, and install these as soon as you can, in the hope that they will resolve this issue.

Having said which, maybe Disney will take the view that people shouldn't be trying to circumvent respawns by time travelling in the first place. In which case you may be stuck, while they prioritise other issues.

Basically, don't time travel, as you risk breaking your game.

Can you Fix Time Travel Bugs in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Many players have tried using the time travel method in Disney Dreamlight Valley in order to bypass real-life time resets and cooldowns . hi i just bought a game for my daughter and she did time travel tried to fix it but its doesent help and later my daughter told me that she time traveled again and now its all mixed up as we dont know what date she was put on and we cant do anything in game as all is stuck .is there any way i can know what the date i was travel and when its will back to normal.or i must restart the game and start over again but in this case will i lose all characters and they houses and upgrates if i restart game?

I time travelled without knowing the consequences andaccepted that I have to wait 3 weeks to play again. Now – five days after the date was synced up again – the quest crops for scar and stitch won’t grow now, because I planted them before time traveling. Now I have to water them really often and can’t go on with the storyline with those two characters. I’m really pissed off!!

Great, I have to want til June if this is the case. I was stupid and curious about finding out how the world would have less rain in the summer….. I now I cant harvest ANY herbs and all tasks at this moment needs some kind of herb. SUPER FRUSTRATING! Fix it Disney!

Well, isn’t this special. Thanks Disney for taking my money and having no care to live up to your end of the deal. Time travel bugs are low priority? Everybody has their own life happening and different reasons for needing to change the time. But you think penalizing everybody is the answer. This is so un-Disney. The game is ruined and I will never play again. Back to Animal Crossing… thanks for ruining my fun. Because at the end of the day it is for fun! Guess it is more about profit and taking our money.

My game is stuck… it’s like the movie Groundhog Day every time I log in and the part that is frustrating for me is I did NOT time travel in Dreamlight Valley, only in ACNH but when I logged into DLV after resetting my clock it was glitched:( I too have spent money $30 for early access and $9 for star path coins. So disappointing. Please guys fix this!!

FIX: Fast travel past the original time you first fast traveled from. Ex: If you originally fast traveled backwards two days, fast travel forwards three-four days. I don’t know if this works if you fast travel forward originally, cause I fast traveled backwards, but this fixed my problem.

I had time traveled at night time to make the Sunlit Plateu look nicer, but I traveled only a few hours back on the same date. Is my game stuck forever? It was yesterday and now I realized it today. Do I have to time skip again?

This is so frustrating! I time traveled to complete as quest task and now just about everything is buged. Wood, fruits, and mining rocks wont respawn in the areas I had unlocked at the time (areas I’ve unlocked after are seemingly alright along with some rocks I hadn’t touched during the TT) and I can’t harvest herbs and what not. I don’t even remember if it was two, three, or even four days I’d advanced. I really hope they fix this issue.

It does not fix the issue. I think I have reset it many times and even redownloaded the game. its the issue with the saves and the cloud saving in my opinion

i had an issue where a crop was not growing even days after all the rest had matured and been harvested. The only solution I found online was to time travel. I tried one day and no luck. I tried five days and still nothing. When I reconnected to the internet I was unable to harvest any herbs (basil, mushrooms, vanilla). Once the real date matched the date I time traveled to the issue was fixed. I still have the problem with the crop not growing and now there’s two of them. I hope the next update either fixes this or gives us the ability to dig up a crop before it’s ready to harvest. I’ve mistakenly planted a crop more than once and had to wait for it to finish.

Hey did the time you traveled to have to catch up to? Today’s the date I traveled to, but not the time yet, and still things arnt spawning and scrooges shop didn’t change?

It would’ve been nice if they had given us a heads up and not left us to our own suffices about Time Traveling. Not only van I not harvest my basil and Oregano, but also mushrooms. My crops started wilting, even after I re watered them and it won’t allow me to even uproot them and replant them. I now have to make even more holes in my garden to plant fresh crops. I purchased the $70 deluxe version and I’m not restarting the game when I’ve already progressed quite far in the game. An update needs to fix this issue or I’m going to ask Nintendo for a full refund. I’m also out a joycon until they repair my L trigger button on my brand new Animal Crossing joycon, so I’m left to play with a pro controller and without handheld for the next two weeks.

I didn’t even attempt to time travel i just transfered my cloud save data onto a switch that was not synced to the correct date. I bought this game for my wife and downloaded it onto my switch for us both to play, After 3 weeks of sharing my switch and switching accounts to play the game I ended up liking it so much that I purchased another game and downloaded it onto her switch so we could both play at the same time. I then transferred my save data onto her switch which I didn’t notice was not set to the correct date. As soon as I synced I noticed all these glitches…. I am honestly so frustrated that I don’t even want to play anymore, I can’t pick up mushrooms, herbs, 2 rocks from the forest of Valor are not responding and scrooges store does not update items day after day. 3 weeks of hard work went to trash.

I agree I had my clock set two days in future for ACNH. Im also a Night Shift worker and stay up all night on my days off so if you play ACNH the shops are closed at night. I downloaded this game and realized immediately it has glitches. The music started to spasm. The tasks weren’t keeping track of progress. The Scrooge sign task which has you place 4 signs says I o Lu placed 2/4. And it doesn’t let you make anymore. You have to pay a ridiculous amount of coin for more signs. Mickeys tasks weren’t keeping track either. So I set the clock back to the j ferner keeping track. And now everything isn’t spawning anymore so I’m at a stand still for 2 days I guess…so frustrating

I was playing when our power went out logged back in power came back on did not realize that my clock is not set to my Internet so now I am sitting here with 300 pumpkins and I can do nothing with harvesting anything not happy about this at all I have over 400 hours to sit here and can’t do nothing I can not start over bull****

Did your game work after you waited out the days?

Except that it’s NOT free-to-play right now. I spent $31 for it on switch, had no clue about any issues because it doesn’t tell you not to do that and I didn’t psychically know, and now I have a completely broken game with no way to fix it. “Wait until the in game date is the same as the current date” well that doesn’t help when you went back in time does it? My animal crossing town is still in 2021, my switch is set to work with animal crossing. It had literally nothing to do with this stupid game and they have to be butts about it. And anyway, we PAID YOU for early access and the fix is “just don’t play it and wait.” What was the point of buying it early then??? Changing your clock harms literally NO ONE, it’s not even something that helps with respawns cause they’re supposed to be super fast anyway (when they WORK AT ALL). Honestly such a ripoff at this point, I’m so angry with them that they would charge us money and then say lol it’s bugged and you can’t play anyway. Needs fixed immediately. I didn’t pay money for early access to be locked out. Plus, people who don’t have schedules that work with real time play just can’t play it then? Is that what they want? So stupid, I’m so angry with the devs.

I completely agree with this. They need to get their s**t together and get it fixed. I haven’t been able to play in days now because of this damn bug and I’m pissed about it. I paid for the $70 version and this is the thanks I get? A broken game??? C’mon now, I’d animal crossing and other games can figure this out, surely these developers can too. I’m sure they did this on purpose as some sort of punishment for “time traveling”.

I had this happen to me the other day. I have to wait til the 14th of February to even play. Sucks, but I suppose I brought it on myself for not doing my research on Time Travel. I’m so used to animal crossing. Hopefully they fix this bug.

I time traveled thinking it would fix my game from crashing .. unfortunately I messed the game up I’m so sad and I hope one day it’ll be fixed some how no rocks anymore no picking fruit or anything I’m beyond disappointed in myself I was thinking like animal crossing it would be ok.

Time Traveling Errors and Fixes in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Time traveling or time skipping is an action that players do to progress through time in games that have their time synchronized to real time. This is usually done by adjusting the clock within the console or the PC to a future date, and since the game’s time follows this clock, the time in the game will change as well. The reasons for doing so may differ from player to player, but it is mostly about being able to progress through the game faster without having to wait.

Since Disney Dreamlight Valley also runs on real time, some players who are familiar of time traveling from their days of playing Animal Crossing have also tried doing it in the game with the expectation of going into a harvest without waiting for hours. It works, however some players who have tried to travel back to the proper time have experienced some repercussions.

In this guide, we will talk about how time traveling works in Disney Dreamlight Valley, what errors might come up, and how to fix or save a broken save file.

Time Traveling Errors in Disney Dreamlight Valley

When players who have time traveled forward into a future date and then traveled back into the proper date, they found themselves facing many issues regarding several stuff in their valleys such as:

• Crops cannot be harvested
• Crops are constantly withered and cannot be watered
• Fishing spots stop working

Though this can be easily remedied by traveling back to the future date, this might cause further issues once the game starts implementing in-game events.

Time Traveling Error Fixes

One way to fix the issues brought by time traveling is to travel back to the proper time and date, then wait it out until the time in the game (“future” time) matches real time. For example:

• Today is October 10, you time travel to October 17.
• The game’s date is now set to October 17 and it will continue moving forward if not set back.
• Switch the date back to the current date; October 10, 11, or whichever the current real date is.
• Wait until October 17 in real time and then you can log back in the game.

Once real time has caught up to the game time, the game will fix itself and the previously bugged activities in the game should resume working properly. You can log in to the game while waiting for real time to catch up, but your actions will be limited to whatever was not affected by the time traveling errors.

Obviously, this would only be viable if the timespan between real time and game time is just a couple of days or weeks, and it would also depend on how willing the player is to wait for the game to fix itself. If the waiting time takes months, or even a year, a better option would be to just delete the save file and start all over. But before doing so, it’s best to know that there is still a way to save some of your items.

Perform a Cloud Save before starting a new game

You can try to save some of the items that you’ve gathered from your existing save file when going into a new save file by just making sure to perform a cloud save. In order to do this, you must first set the time back to the correct one as cloud saving will not proceed if the game detects that the time does not match up.

Then, you can go ahead and start a new game. After going through the character creation and the starting steps, you should be able to check your inventory and find your items from your previous save file still in it.

Will the time traveling errors be fixed for Disney Dreamlight Valley?

In a post made by a dev in a Disney Dreamlight Valley Discord channel, they have announced that since the game is in early access and time traveling is not an intended part of the gaming experience for the game, they are not prioritizing the fix for any of the unintended issues brought about by time traveling.

Whether or not a patch will come out to solve the time traveling issues, it’s recommended to stay away from the timey-wimey stuff for now.

How to time travel in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The rich world of Disney Dreamlight Valley is filled with a plethora of activities for players to engage in. But, sometimes these activities may require players to practice a bit of patience.

Tasks like gardening ask players to wait for crops to grow, activities like mining and foraging have a cooldown period players must wait through for the resources to respawn, and certain assets for both quests and gameplay are only available during certain timeframes or weather types.

Thus, Dreamlight Valley players will find themselves having to wait out real time to complete many of the game’s most important aspects.

Should you time travel in Disney Dreamlight Valley ?

While time travel is possible in Disney Dreamlight Valley , you should not attempt to do so as it is currently game-breaking. Those who have time traveled have had very weird glitches and while time traveling does seem to reset certain aspects, such as daily conversations that will help raise your friendship with characters more quickly , it breaks many others like preventing fruit and rock spots from respawning.

Gameloft has also stated on their Dreamlight Valle y Discord channel they strongly recommend no one try time skipping because although they “understand there are many benefits to time skipping, there are also unintended errors.”

Furthermore, the devs also said that due to the title being in early access, they will not be “prioritizing issues caused by time skipping, as it is not the intended gameplay experience.”

This means if you do decide to time travel and end up with game-breaking issues because of doing so, there will be no way to fix it. While it can be frustrating to be unable to speak to a character because they have gone to bed or to have to wait for a resource to respawn, the current consequences of time traveling are not at all worth the risk.

There is a chance Gameloft will address these issues at some point in the future and time traveling will become doable, but until this happens, players should avoid doing so unless they are willing to risk breaking their game.

How to fix time travel issues in Dreamlight Valley

Of course, many players did not know the risks or decided to go through with time traveling anyways and are now dealing with many strange issues. If this happened to you, there is only one method players have been able to utilize for fixing the issues.

Reset or resynchronize your device’s clock back to whatever day and time you are presently in. After doing so, you will need to wait through real-time until it becomes the day and time that you previously time traveled to. Once you have waited through real-time to reach the date and time you previously attempted to time travel to, your game should go back to normal—as long as you do not attempt to time travel anymore.

Disney Dreamlight Valley – A Rift In Time Act II Coming Soon

Gameloft Montreal and Disney Dreamlight Valley has announced a special sneak peek is on the way for their next big content update taking place April 24th.

The next content update is on the horizon, with players eagerly awaiting Act II of A Rift In Time, Disney Dreamlight Valley’s story expansion . The description in the teaser trailer released quotes:

“Travel to Eternity Isle and meet Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as you unravel Jafar’s nefarious ploy. Reveal new looks for your animal companions and uncover exclusive furniture to craft using your Hourglass. Act II of Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time, the Expansion Pass is coming soon!” – Disney Dreamlight Valley Official YouTube Channel

The teaser trailer unveiled Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as the next available character to join your valley in A Rift In Time. The official announcement on the 24th will cover that and over new cosmetics such as a classic cartoon style capybara companion and new furniture items.

On their Twitter/X account, Disney Dreamlight Valley has previously discussed other quality of life changes coming in the next update. These include a new letter mailing system where characters can send mail and gifts to the player, the ability to use the player’s Royal Tools, and sharing Touch of Magic designs in Multiplayer.

The working title for Act II of A Rift In Time is the “Spark of Imagination”. A new area will become available to explore in Eternity Isle, unlocked by Merlin as the player works with Rapunzel, Eve, and Gaston to uncover Jafar’s plot.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now for PC and all modern consoles.

Disney Dreamlight Valley reveals A Rift in Time – Act II

Gameloft has started to lift the curtain on A Rift in Time – Act II for Disney Dreamlight Valley .

This is the next part of the game’s season pass. Gameloft says that players will travel to Eternity Isle and meet Oswald the Lucky Rabbit while unraveling Jafar’s nefarious ploy. There’ll be new looks for animal companions and exclusive furniture to craft.

Daisy Duck and Oswald the Rabbit joining Disney Dreamlight Valley soon

In May's base game and expansion update.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is stuffing the glitter cannons and oiling its gates as it readies to welcome two new guests, with Daisy Duck and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit both now confirmed to be joining the exuberant village life sim next Wednesday, 1st May.

Daisy arrives as part of the free Thrills and Frills update for all base game owners, and will be indulging her entrepreneurial spirit as the manager of the valley's new boutique store. This'll serve as a place for players to display their custom-designed Touch of Magic items, and a means for visiting friends to acquire those designs for themselves. Additionally, Daisy will set weekly design challenges, unlocking boutique awards including new Touch of Magic items.

Thrills and Frills is also set to feature a variety of quality of life updates, including enhancements to the camera tool. Players will, for instance, be able to take photos while perched on any of the Disney rides they've placed around their village. And speaking of rides, Thrills and Frills' new battle-pass-style Star Path promises more Disney park content, seemingly including - based on a glimpse in today's developer video - an Aladdin-themed flying carpet ride.

That's everything for the base game (until next week's full patch notes, at least), but Gameloft Montreal has also confirmed Dreamlight Valley's A Rift in Time paid expansion will get the second of three promised story acts when Thrills and Frills arrives.

Act 2, officially known as The Spark of Imagination, brings "new adventures and puzzles" to Eternity Isle - including new challenges in the ancient ruins - and there's talk of new rewards for those that level up their Royal Hourglass, including what looks like a Ratatouille-themed French metro entrance.

It also sees Oswald the Rabbit arriving as a new resident, with Gameloft saying to expect "fun homages to the silent film era" as his quest line unfolds. Oswald's house, for instance, is inspired by an old-time movie theatre, and his presence will have other unusual effects, such as turning some of the local fauna black and white.

The Spark of Imagination arrives alongside the Thrills and Frills update on all platforms next Wednesday, 1st May, and comes ahead of two more updates so far confirmed for 2024 - with Gameloft's previous roadmap suggesting a new Milan-inspired Realm will arrive in "late spring", while Tiana from The Princess and the Frog is due this summer.

As for what comes next, that's yet to be revealed - but the Disney Dreamlight Valley team will have its hands full seeing as it's also working on a Dungeons & Dragons game promising co-op adventures, real-time action and survival, plus an "unforgiving" campaign.

Disney Dreamlight Valley gets a free update and expansion on 1st May

Disney Dreamlight Valley fans might want to clear their calendar on 1st May – that’s when the next free update and next chapter of the expansion will be released for the game, bringing a wealth of new content.

The next free update for Disney Dreamlight Valley will be called Thrills & Frills, and it will offer players the chance to befriend Daisy Duck. And of course, a new friend means a new Friendship Quest line. To win Daisy Duck over, players will need to lend her their creativity and fashion sense, but it won’t be for naught; do a good job and you’ll get your very own Boutique. This is key to being able to sell your own custom designs, and you’ll even be able to invite your friends to take look. The free Thrills & Frills update will include some improvements to the game’s multiplayer features, too, such as being able to complete activities together and take selfies.

As good as the free update sounds, however, it’s the new expansion for Disney Dreamlight Valley that players are likely to be more excited about. Those who own the Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time Expansion Pass will be able to download Act II: The Spark of Imagination on 1st May, which will allow them to learn more about the mysterious Eternity Isle alongside yet another new friend – Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Players will find this new friend in the secret temple found at Ancient’s Landing, and engage in a new and expansive questline that will also involve EVE, Gaston and Rapunzel.

Rounding everything off for Disney Dreamlight Valley players will be a new Star Path, featuring attractions such as an Alien Swing. The Premium Shop will have new items too, ranging from additional Parks attractions to special clothing items.

These recipes range from simple and sweet snacks to ornate, ridiculously grand cakes intended to please the palates of the player and their Disney pals.

Among these new culinary delights is a new dessert, Spiky Berry Pie . This recipe utilizes two of the expansion's unique foraged fruit ingredients: Cactoberries and Strawberries. These are combined with a few staple ingredients that have been part of the game since its inception. Here’s what players need to toss in the pot to cook up a delicious Spiky Berry Pie in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time .

Spiky Berry Pie is a new five-star dessert in Disney Dreamlight Valley 's A Rift in Time expansion. Like all other items and recipes in this paid DLC, this meal is exclusive to players who have purchased the expansion. To craft a Spiky Berry Pie, players must gather the following ingredients:

• Cactoberries
• Strawberries
• Any Spice or Herb

This five-star dessert restores 2188 energy and can be sold for 421 Star Coins , with its value potentially increasing based on the specific spice or herb used in the recipe.

While some pre-expansion ingredients are used in this dish, all ingredients required to craft a delicious Spiky Berry Pie can be obtained while on Eternity Isle . Here’s where players can find all the ingredients for this recipe in Disney Dreamlight Valley .

Where to Get Cactoberries

The first new ingredient, Cactoberries , can be foraged in the Glittering Dunes biome, found exclusively in the Oasis and Borderlands areas. Players must first undertake the quest “ The Sands in the Hourglass ” to gain access to this new biome. Initially, only The Plains area is accessible, requiring players to spend Mist to unlock either The Oasis or The Borderlands to forage Cactoberries.

Where to Get Strawberries

Strawberries , however, are more readily available. They are found in the very first area of Ancient’s Landing, The Docks, making them accessible to players as soon as they arrive at Eternity Isle. Expanding exploration to other areas of Ancient’s Landing will reveal more Strawberry bushes , ensuring a steady supply of this sweet ingredient.

Butter is an essential ingredient that can be purchased from Remy’s Shop in Chez Remy for 190 Star Coins each. Players can easily fast travel back to the Valley to visit his restaurant and stock up. Alternatively, a short quest chain on Eternity Isle allows players to reopen Remy’s Restaurant's satellite location, enabling the purchase of ingredients without leaving the island.

Where to get wheat.

Wheat is the most basic ingredient in Dreamlight Valley and is grown from seeds available at Goofy’s Stall , both in the Peaceful Meadow of the Valley and on Ancient’s Landing, Eternity Isle. Players can plant these seeds at their chosen location, and after a brief wait of one minute post-watering, the wheat will be ready to harvest.

Where to Get Spices & Herbs

The final ingredient slot is versatile, accepting any ingredient from the Spices & Herbs category . This design choice ensures that players can experiment without the risk of crafting an undesired dish. Therefore, players can opt for any spice or herb they prefer or have readily available.
