Tom Cruise’s Girlfriend History: From Nicole Kidman to Katie Holmes to Today

Tom Cruise has had a high-profile love life ever since launching his acting career in the '80s. Here's a complete breakdown of the 'Mission: Impossible' star's romantic history.

Tom Cruise ‘s love life has been closely followed for decades, ever since making his breakthrough in the 1983 classic  Risky Business . His romantic history consists of three famous marriages (all of which ended, coincidentally, when his wives were 33 years old) and a string of other high-profile romances. But between 2012-2020, Tom seemingly pumped the brakes on public romances.

However, there was renewed interest in the love life of one of Hollywood’s most famous bachelors after a new report surfaced in December 2020. It claimed that Tom was dating his co-star   Hayley Atwell  from Mission: Impossible 7 . In June 2022, another report came out that the pair broke up . In 2023, Tom reportedly moved on with model Elsina Khayrova . We have more information on that below — including Tom’s many other romances since the ’80s.

Melissa Gilbert

Melissa Gilbert , 59, who played Laura Ingalls on the NBC series Little House on the Prairie , claimed that she dated Tom in the early 1980’s. This was at the very beginning of his career! “Actually, when I dated him he was Tom Mapother still. It was when he first moved to Los Angeles and I think I was 16, maybe, or 17?,” Melissa said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen   in 2017.

“I did not have sex with him,” Laura added. “We made out, but, honestly, there was no sex. He was a good kisser. But, you know, he was, like, a struggling, starving actor. I actually bought him his first set of dishes.” Melissa even reminisced on her friendship/past relationship with her fellow “Brat Pack” pal, Tom, in a throwback Instagram post shared in Oct. 2019.

Heather Locklear

Heather Locklear , 61, was never Tom’s girlfriend, but she did go on one (sort of) date with him. It didn’t go well, according to her recollection. The Melrose Place  star explained in a 2013 interview on Chelsea Lately  that they had both “auditioned for something” together, back when Tom “didn’t have friends” in Hollywood in the early ’80s. So, they went dancing.

“You know in ‘Risky Business’ where he does that dance in his underwear and does the splits? We were dancing at a club and he went into that. He starting doing the splits,” Heather said. “You just kind of stand there and don’t know what to do. Do you dance around him? So, I was like, ‘I’ll just sit down and you can.'”

“And that was the only date you had?,” Chelsea Handler then asked Heather, to which the actress said, “I think so.” Tom and Heather are pictured above together in 1981.

Rebecca De Mornay

Rebecca de Mornay and Tom played lovers in Tom’s breakthrough film, Risky Business , which came out in 1983. Their on-screen chemistry turned out to be real! Although Rebecca joked that Tom was “extremely annoying” at first, she admitted, “He came to grow on me because we wound up together for two and a half years after that film” in a 2018 interview with Celebrity Page .

Tom Cruise famously made Cher ‘s “Top 5” lovers list, which she revealed on  Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen  in 2013. “I had just the greatest lovers ever. Not a long list. It’s just a good list,” the 77-year-old singer had said.

Cher explained how she and Tom connected in a separate interview. “A bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic. We didn’t go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there,” Cher told the  Mail on Sunday   in 2018. She added, “Though I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing. I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.”

Mimi Rogers

It was during this relationship that Tom infamously joined the Church of Scientology, which he is a prominent figure in to this day. When Tom met actress Mimi Rogers , 67, she had been a few years divorced from Scientologist Jim Rogers . “I met her at a dinner party about a year ago, when I was developing Top Gun. She was dating a friend, and, uh, I thought she was extremely bright,” Tom recalled in a 1986 interview with Rolling Stone .

However, Mimi had a conflicting story. “I wasn’t seeing anybody, he wasn’t seeing anybody, and they thought, ‘These people should be going out with somebody — let’s see if they want to go out with each other.’ And we said, ‘Aw, what the heck. OK’,” Mimi told the Sun Sentinel  in 1987.

Tom sounded smitten in another Rolling Stone interview, which was published mere days before his split from Mimi was announced in 1990. “I’d never been in love before. Since I’ve been with her, it’s opened me up a lot. I think it’s helped me be a better actor. We live a lot of life together. We share everything,” he gushed, later adding, “I care about my wife more than anything in the world. She’s my best friend. I just really like being with her, you know? I love her.” The divorce was finalized in February 1990, three years after they got married.

Nicole Kidman

Tom Cruise moved on to his next marriage, which was with Moulin Rouge!  star Nicole Kidman , 55. They met on the set of their movie Days of Thunder , in which they played lovers, in 1990. By the end of the year, they were husband and wife. Tom and Nicole adopted two children amid their 11-year marriage : Isabella in 1992, and Connor in 1994.

During the marriage, Tom and Nicole also filmed another movie together, Eyes Wide Shut , in 1999. Nicole even looked back at their time filming together in a rare interview in Oct. 2020, telling the  New York Times , “We were happily married through that. We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at three in the morning. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe I don’t have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I’m not willing to.”

Nicole famously never joined Tom’s Church of Scientology, which even their children went on to be active members in. Tom and Nicole’s split was announced in Feb. 2001, and Tom filed for divorce two days later. To this day, the exes have minimal interactions with one another. “Tom has had little to no contact with Nicole in the 18 years since being married and that is fine by him,” a source close to Tom EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife . “He really does not miss her much at all.”

Penélope Cruz

Tom took a break from the married life and started dating Penélope Cruz , 49, whom he met on the set of the movie Vanilla Sky  in 2000. They enjoyed a three-year relationship, which the former couple’s reps confirmed ended in 2004. “They remain good friends and still talk often. There is no other person involved,” Penelope’s spokesperson told PEOPLE at the time.

Katie Holmes

Enter Katie Holmes , who to date remains one of Tom’s most famous exes. Ironically, Katie , 44, she once told Seventeen Magazine   in 2004 that she “used to think that [she] was going to marry Tom Cruise,” which didn’t turn out to just be wishful thinking. The two came together the very next year.

Katie and Tom’s first public appearance as lovers happened in April of 2005. Tom was with the Dawson’s Creek star in Rome, where he was visiting to collect his David di Donatello Award for lifetime achievement. The very next month, Tom was jumping on Oprah Winfrey ‘s couch and proclaiming that he’s “in love” (to which Oprah said, “The boy is gone”).

The relationship quickly advanced. When Katie stepped onto the  Batman Begins  premiere in June of 2005, the actress revealed that she’s converting to Scientology (Tom’s religion) and her engagement to Tom was announced that very same month. By October, the couple was expecting, and in April of 2006 they welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Suri .

Katie and Tom tied the knot in Italy in Nov. 2006, and all seemed happy until June of 2012, when Katie filed for divorce. A settlement for custody of Suri was decided on a month later. A year afterwards, Tom admitted that he “didn’t expect” that divorce in an interview with German television network ProSieben.

Katie reflected on the time after the divorce in an April 2020 interview with   InStyle . “That time was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it. We had some funny moments out and about in public. So many people I didn’t know became my friends and helped us out, and that’s what I love about the city,” she said.

Hayley Atwell

Tom reportedly started dating Hayley Atwell  — whom you may have seen playing Peggy Carter in the Captain America  movies — in 2020, according to a report from The Sun that surfaced in Dec. of that year. Hayley and Tom filmed Mission 7: Impossible  together amid the pandemic.

“Tom and Hayley hit it off from day one,” a source told The Sun , who added, “Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable.” Tom and Hayley did not confirm this report, but he hasn’t confirmed any romances since his marriage to Katie, and on June 12, 2022, it was reported he and Hayley had split . It was the second reported split since back in Sept. 2021, they reportedly also called it quits but reconciled a short time later.

“Tom and Hayley’s relationship was genuine,” a source told The Sun . “In spite of some rumours to the contrary, it was never just for the cameras. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked out for them. They get on really well, and have fantastic chemistry, which is why they decided to quietly give the relationship another try earlier this year.”

Elsina Khayrova

In mid-2023, multiple outlets reported that Tom had quietly started dating the model and socialite.

“They’re very happy,” a source told Us Weekly in December 2023. “And Tom’s extremely confident about it working out for the long term. Tom is going into 2024 totally energized, excited and feeling healthier and happier than he has in years. This is a very special time for him, and having a serious relationship in his life that he can build on is the icing on the cake.”

Tom Cruise has “cooled things down” with younger gal pal Elsina Khayrova, according to insiders. But the “Top Gun” star and the Russian socialite are still in touch, we hear.

“Tom felt things were moving too fast, especially in the media,” an insider said of the relationship, adding, “he wasn’t there yet, so he’s cooled things down, but they are still in touch.”

The insider also told us that, “Tom wants to go slow with whoever he sees, as he feels he’s been burned by several of his exes.”

The source said that Cruise had wanted to keep the romance more private.

The parting of ways comes after Khayrova recently became Cruise’s official girlfriend , according to reports, and sources told Page Six that he’d even met her kids .

Our source said that the door isn’t completely closed. “Some in Tom’s group of acquaintances say it’s over, but with Tom you never really know how that will happen,” they added.

Then again, Khayrova also has “her own fortune that allows her to do as she pleases.”

The “Risky Business” star, 61, was first  romantically linked  to the millionaire divorcee, 36, in December after the pair cozied up at a party in London. Since then, the pair had been spending a lot of time together.

According to The Sun which first reported that the couple has broken up, “There are no hard feelings between them and for Tom, their relationship simply ran its course.”

Sources told the outlet that Cruise wants to remain friends as they live in the same apartment block in London.

“To end things on a bad note would have been awkward if they’d bumped into each other in the lift,” an insider told the outlet.

Page Six has reached out to Cruise’s reps for comment.

Cruise met Khayrova when a friend brought her to one of his exclusive Sunday tea parties at his Hyde Park penthouse late last year, a source previously told Page Six .

Insiders told us that Cruise feels “more comfortable” in London than in Los Angeles, and had been hosting the weekly gatherings in the afternoon for an elite crowd.

Tom Cruise reportedly has a new girlfriend.

The Top Gun: Maverick star, 61, has been “growing closer” to Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 36, over the past couple of months and is now officially dating her, the Daily Mail reports.

“It’s well known within Elsina’s circle that she and Tom are now an item,” an insider told the outlet.

“They’ve grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy,” the source continued.

“Tom has been staying the night at Elsina’s apartment, which as you can imagine, is a very beautiful place. They enjoy hanging out together and despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do.”

The pair both attended a gala dinner in support of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, where Prince William was the guest of honour.

Though Cruise and Khayrova arrived separately, friends told the outlet that it’s not a surprise, as they’ve been spending most of their time behind closed doors at her multimillion-dollar apartment in Knightsbridge, London.

However, the pair have stepped out incognito for strolls through Hyde Park, sources claimed.

The two have also reportedly dined privately at several exclusive London restaurants.

Page Six contacted Cruise’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

They were first romantically linked after reportedly canoodling at a party in London’s ritzy Mayfair neighbourhood in December.

“They were inseparable, clearly a couple. He seemed to be besotted with her,” an eyewitness told the Daily Mail at the time.

The Jack Reacher actor has previously said “I do” three times.

He was married to Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990, Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001 and Katie Holmes from 2006 to 2012.

Khayrova, for her part, split from ex-husband Dmitry Tsetkov in 2022.

The Russian oligarch, 43, spoke to the tabloid in December about their bitter three-year divorce battle, which he claims cost him more than $150 million.

In the early 1980s, young Thomas Cruise Mapother IV was an eager, fresh-faced young actor ready to take on Hollywood, and his first Tinseltown romance happened so early in his career that he had still yet to change his name . When Tom Cruise dated "Little House on the Prairie" actor Melissa Gilbert, she was the recognizable star. An Emmy-nominated showbiz veteran with years of acting experience under her belt by the time she was a teen, Gilbert later shared on " Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen " that she and Cruise went out when she was 16 or 17 years old. While there was no sex during their time together, Gilbert admitted that she and Cruise made out.

Gilbert and Cruise's relationship was short-lived, but it wasn't the last time the young stars would cross paths. Gilbert moved on to a relationship with Rob Lowe, Cruise's co-star in the 1983 teen drama "The Outsiders." Allegedly, Gilbert and Cruise still hooked up while she was with Lowe, but any possible clandestine love triangles didn't stop the trio from hanging out together publicly.

Heather Locklear couldn't take his cringe dance moves

Tom Cruise was still a relatively unknown actor when he went on his one and only date with TV star Heather Locklear. She was simultaneously appearing on the hit TV shows "T.J. Hooker" and "Dynasty," and he was grabbing roles in movies like "Endless Love" and "Taps," when the pair hit the town in the early '80s. Clearly, she had the star power, but Cruise was on the brink of fame — and according to Locklear's recollection of their date, he was already making some moves that would make him a movie star.

During a 2013 appearance on "Chelsea Lately" (via the  Daily Mail ), Locklear claimed Cruise busted out some embarrassing dance moves at a club that left her bewildered. She likened them to the ones in his famous 1983 breakout movie "Risky Business," where he slides across a living room in nothing but a button-up shirt, briefs, and white socks. "You just kind of stand there and don't know what to do. Do you dance around him? It was weird. I just sat down," she said.

Locklear didn't pinpoint the exact year of their date, but it was definitely before Cruise was mega famous. Admittedly weirded out by the future movie star, Locklear didn't date Cruise again. And although "Risky Business" writer and director Paul Brickman credits himself for the movie's iconic dance scene, one can't help but wonder if one of Cruise's moves from his Locklear date actually made the final cut.

From friendzone to lovers with Rebecca De Mornay

Tom Cruise and his "Risky Business" co-star, Rebecca De Mornay, had a two-and-a-half-year relationship, but the pair didn't exactly hit it off at first. De Mornay later dished with a laugh to Celebrity Page , "I will say that I thought he was very annoying when we first started [filming]." Clearly, she got over Cruise-induced aggravation as they became more than just colleagues, but when they were doing press for the movie, the pair was publicized as merely being close pals. 

Although they played coy to the media, their co-star Curtis Armstrong's "Revenge of the Nerd" memoir (via The Hollywood Reporter ) later revealed that they were apparently openly and intensely engaging with each other during production. Their budding relationship was interrupted, however, by on-set appearances by De Mornay's then-beau, Harry Dean Stanton, who eventually got miffed enough about their affair that he went to confront Cruise about it, as De Mornay recalled to Vanity Fair . She admittedly left the "Paris, Texas" actor for Cruise, and the couple quickly became media darlings and paparazzi targets. They broke up just before Cruise began work on his 1986 blockbuster film "Top Gun."

She might have dumped him for Cruise, but De Mornay's relationship with Stanton proved to have staying power, while her time with Cruise stayed strictly in the past. Remembering the late Stanton, who died in 2017, De Mornay told Vanity Fair, "Harry Dean and I are best friends, and Tom and I don't talk."

His short-lived but influential marriage to Mimi Rogers

Tom Cruise's first marriage was to actor Mimi Rogers, and while short-lived, it proved to immensely impact Cruise's future. He and Rogers met at a dinner party when Cruise's 1986 blockbuster film "Top Gun" was in development. The couple married in a small, private ceremony in New York state in May 1987, with Cruise's "The Outsiders" co-star, Emilio Estevez, on best man duty. Rogers, a second-generation Scientologist, is credited for introducing Cruise to Scientology, per The Daily Beast , an organization whose influence would reportedly play a big part in his love life.

While they kept their relationship fairly low-key, rumors swirled in the press around their unsuccessful attempts at having children together, sparking years of speculation about Cruise's sexuality. He and Rogers quietly separated in 1989, and their split was officially announced the following year . Publicly, their divorce was partially chalked up Cruise's ascent into superstardom, with his focus on work leaving little time for love. Privately, alleged infidelity — including with his "Days of Thunder" co-star and future wife, Nicole Kidman — and reported meddling from Scientology officials  were apparently factors in their breakup. 

When asked about his first marriage in 1994, Cruise blurted to Vanity Fair, "It was a long time ago. I really don't think about it." Years later, Rogers admitted it took time for the exes to once again be on good terms. In 2001, she told People they were "nice and friendly," but added, "Between his life and mine, it's not like we have a lot of time to see each other."

When Tom Cruise saw Nicole Kidman in the 1989 Australian film "Dead Calm," he wanted to meet her. Shortly thereafter, they co-starred in 1990's "Days of Thunder," and one of the biggest celebrity relationships of that decade was off to a racing start. Cruise and Kidman reportedly hooked up while filming the movie, and after his divorce from Mimi Rogers was finalized, they tied the knot on Christmas Eve 1990. Dubbed "Hollywood's Most Romantic Couple" by People , Cruise shared with Vanity Fair that Kidman was his soul mate, and she told the publication, "He's amazingly romantic. He puts so much work into us." In 1992, they adopted their daughter, Isabella, and would welcome son Connor via adoption three years later.

In true power couple fashion, Cruise and Kidman continued to work together throughout their relationship. In addition to "Days of Thunder," they co-starred in the films "Far and Away" and "Eyes Wide Shut," the latter of which was an intense 15-month movie shoot that Cruise credited with making their marriage stronger. But a year after "Eyes Wide Shut" dropped, their marriage was over. Cruise filed for divorce in December 2000, citing "irreconcilable differences," per Entertainment Weekly . At the time, their rep denied Scientology was a reason for their split, but subsequent reports have alleged otherwise. 

When asked why they divorced by Vanity Fair in 2002, Cruise only said, "She knows why, and I know why. She's the mother of my children, and I wish her well."

He and Penélope Cruz gave tabloids plenty to talk about

Tom Cruise's next relationship was with Spanish actor Penélope Cruz. They met in 2000 on the set of "Vanilla Sky" — and Cruise was technically still legally married to Nicole Kidman when he was first romantically linked to Cruz in the summer of 2001. Cruise and Kidman's divorce was finalized on August 8 of that year, and it's since become a part of pop culture history thanks to an infamous photo of Kidman's alleged celebration. 

Cruise and Cruz soon caused a stir as they made their red-carpet debut at the premiere of her film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin." Cruz embraced Cruise's public support, telling  ABC News , "He came and shared [the spotlight] with me. It was special for me that he wanted to share it with me that way." Cruise didn't spare any romantic gestures, telling Marie Claire (via Entertainment Weekly ) in 2003 that he would surprise Cruz by cooking her favorite foods and drawing baths for whenever she arrived home. 

Despite any notions of domestic bliss, however, the relationship proved to be dramatic fodder for the tabloids. Things actually got so intense in the rumor department that Cruz sued Australian tabloid New Idea for defamation for peddling lies about the couple. Per Variety , the outlet published a retraction and issued an apology. Unfortunately, Cruz's legal victory didn't stop the gossip, and in 2004, she and Cruise amicably broke up after three years together. A source told People , "The relationship just ran its course and they decided not to be girlfriend and boyfriend anymore."

Age was just a number for Cher and Tom Cruise

One of Tom Cruise's more curious romantic trysts was with entertainment superstar Cher. 16 years his senior, Cher was already an established music and TV star and well into the movie star phase of her career when she met Cruise at Sean Penn and Madonna's 1985 Malibu wedding. Apparently, Cher's bright purple hair at the nuptials didn't spark an immediate love connection with the young actor, but she and Cruise reconnected later that year at a White House event that raised awareness around dyslexia, a learning disorder both stars have been diagnosed with. While they didn't hook up at the event, Cher later told the  Daily Mail , "We didn't go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there."

Soon, however, Cruise was apparently making Cher say "whoa" in more ways than one. Cher previously revealed to Oprah Winfrey  that they'd even lived together in his apartment, saying, "He was so wonderful, and I was so crazy about him." Cher further praised Cruise on " Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen ," sharing that she considers him in the top five of her greatest lovers.

His blink-and-you-missed-it fling with Sofía Vergara

Among many of Tom Cruise's romantic trysts was a brief interlude with a pre-"Modern Family" Sofía Vergara. When the two got together in the early '00s, Vergara's small roles in Hollywood movies like "Big Trouble," "The 24th Day," and "Soul Plane" weren't creating a path to superstardom. Cruise, who was having trouble finding a girlfriend, allegedly made Scientology honchos a list of potential love interests — and Vergara made the cut. 

According to Andrew Morton's book " Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography ," the relatively unknown Vergara was set up to meet Cruise by Will Smith at a pre-Oscars bash in 2005. Hitting it off, Vergara began hanging out with Cruise, even bringing her son, Manolo, with her so that he could get to know his kids, Isabella and Connor. Things were seemingly moving forward in their relationship at an incredible clip, so much so that there were allegedly even talks of marriage mere weeks after they got together.

But for Vergara, the ever-looming presence of Scientology reportedly proved to be too much. When it was allegedly demanded that she convert to Scientology to continue their relationship, Vergara is said to have balked. A pal claimed to Morton, "She was fundamentally terrified by Scientology. She sincerely believed that she would be struck down by God and burn in hell if she joined." Needless to say, the Cruise-Vergara era was over before it had a chance to get started.

Nazanin Boniadi allegedly didn't pass the girlfriend audition

In the mid-'00s, Tom Cruise was looking for love, and — allegedly with the help of the Church of Scientology — he tried to find it with Iranian-born British actor Nazanin Boniadi. The "Homeland" star was already a Scientologist when she was reportedly chosen to become Cruise's girlfriend by the organization following a round of auditions in late 2004. According to a 2012 report by  Vanity Fair , though Boniadi wasn't initially told that her top-secret Scientology project was preparing her to meet Cruise, she hesitantly embraced the chance to be with him and decided to take the attention from the actor as a compliment.

While Cruise reportedly didn't hold back on the PDA, Boniadi was more reserved, which purportedly irritated the star. As their relationship progressed, Boniadi felt increasingly confined by the arrangement, which allegedly included confidentiality agreements and being controlled by Cruise and Scientology officials. Things came to a breaking point when Boniadi was at Cruise's Telluride, Colorado home and asked Church of Scientology head David Miscavige to repeat himself, allegedly leaving Miscavige insulted and Cruise appalled at the apparent slight. By January 2005, Boniadi and Cruise were done, with the actual breakup reportedly conducted not by Cruise, but by Scientology officials. 

Per the Independent , the Church of Scientology denied these claims. In 2012, Boniadi name-checked Cruise on an anti-Scientology diss track: "But we all know how it is, there ain't no road to freedom / It's a blind alley, like Kirstie Alley / Travolta and Cruise, but we ain't no fools."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' marriage defined an era

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' famous romance defined the celebrity-obsessed pop culture of the mid-'00s. Holmes was apparently one of many women who allegedly auditioned to be Tom Cruise's girlfriend , and she seemingly nailed it by admitting her childhood crush on him. Cruise and Holmes took things public in 2005 during the whirlwind publicity tours for their movies "The War of the Worlds" and "Batman Begins." Cruise jumping on Oprah Winfrey's couch and sparring with Matt Lauer about the history of psychiatry? It all happened that spring and summer amidst the heat of the "TomKat" romance. Less than two years after meeting, Cruise and Holmes would welcome their child, Suri, and get married in an extravagant Italian ceremony that reportedly cost $3 million.

Once the dust settled on their marriage, it seems all was not what it seemed to be. Confined by their intense fame, Holmes admitted to Vanity Fair reporter Maureen Orth in 2012, "Oh, we don't go outside very much," and Scientology was reportedly a constant presence in their private lives. Holmes filed for divorce that June, allegedly blindsiding Cruise with the move . Thanks to help from her attorney father, Holmes had a prenuptial agreement in place, and their divorce was finalized in less than two weeks. 

Of her split from Cruise, Holmes — who was awarded primary custody of Suri — told InStyle  in 2020, "That time was intense. It was a lot of attention. ... We had some funny moments out and about in public." To say the least, Katie!

Was his alleged romance with Hayley Atwell impossible?

After his headline-grabby divorce from Katie Holmes in 2012, Tom Cruise kept his personal life mostly to himself throughout much of the 2010s. Cruise's post-Holmes filmography was mostly action-hero fare, including installments of his "Jack Reacher" and "Mission: Impossible" franchises. His public persona became less centered around buoyant displays of affection, as it had in the '00s, and more about Cruise's death-defying film stunt work. But by late 2020, Cruise was rumored to have a new love interest in Hayley Atwell, his "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning" co-star.

The Sun reported that Cruise and Atwell had bonded while filming in both the U.K. and Rome, having become close during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. The following July, the duo took in Wimbledon together, further sparking romance chatter in the media. By September 2021, however, Cruise and Atwell reportedly called it quits, taking the highway to the friendzone. However, they apparently got back together in early 2022, but split up yet again shortly after they both attended the May 2022 premiere of "Top Gun: Maverick." A source cited by  The U.S. Sun partially blamed public scrutiny for the breakup, claiming, "What was working behind closed doors didn't work out so well when it was made public, and the fanfare around them as a couple exploded again. They have now decided they are better as friends."

But were Cruise and Atwell ever actually an item or just a convenient tabloid topic? In May 2023, Atwell flatly denied they were ever romantically involved to Country & Town House .

Tom Cruise and Shakira sparked rumors at the race track

In May 2023, Tom Cruise was linked to singing superstar Shakira after the duo was spotted at a Formula 1 Grand Prix together in Miami. A source dished to Page Six  about the possibility of a love connection and claimed, "He is extremely interested in pursuing her. There is chemistry." The insider further hinted that perhaps Shakira "need[ed] a soft pillow to land on, and that could be Tom" after her dramatic breakup with soccer star Gerard Piqué. 

Sure, Cruise and Shakira chatted it up at an event, and he even reportedly gifted her flowers — but was it the start of a beautiful relationship? According to sources in Shakira's camp, the answer was a resounding "no." While insiders couldn't directly speak to Cruise's alleged floral fixation for the singer, they told TMZ , "She's very much single. ... Shakira's just not interested in dating right now." The sources also clarified that both Cruise and Shakira were merely guests of Formula 1 superstar racer Lewis Hamilton, hence being spotted together. 

Shakira's hips don't lie, but perhaps the tabloids sometimes do.

“They had a special time together partying in the Hollywood hills and having a blast. Sofia wasn’t really giving out the signals back then that she wanted anything long-term, so it petered out in a totally amicable fashion and they remained friends,” An insider revealed to Heat via The Mirror .

“It’s always eaten away at Tom that he dumped Sofia and chose Katie,” the source said, adding that newly single Sofía “checks almost every box for Tom.”

Nothing has been confirmed, but, tbh, anything can happen in the cinematic universe that is Tom Cruise’s dating life. 🤷

Shortly after their wedding, the couple worked together again on Ron Howard ‘s drama Far and Away , which hit theaters in 1992. That same year, the duo adopted daughter Isabella shortly after her birth. In 1995, they adopted son Connor, who later starred in the films Seven Pounds and Red Dawn .

Cruise and Kidman collaborated for a third time on Stanley Kubrick’s final film, Eyes Wide Shut , which premiered in 1999. “We were happily married through that,” the Hours actress told The New York Times in 2020, reflecting on where she stood with Cruise while making the controversial movie. “We would go go-kart racing after [intense] scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at three in the morning.”

Despite the end of her relationship with Cruise, Kidman has said she’s not bothered by the perpetual interest in their romance.

“I was young. Former Scientologist Mike Rinder claimed in 2022 that the church played a role in the couple's breakup by creating a "distance" between them. The apostate also alleged that the Church of Scientology wiretapped Kidman's phone to monitor her influence on Cruise, who is one of the religion's most prominent members.

The church denied Rinder's claims in a September 2022 statement, saying: "The Church never ordered or participated in any illegal wiretapping. Mike Rinder is an inveterate liar who seeks to profit from his dishonesty. He supports himself by orchestrating the harassment of his former Church and its leader through false police reports, incendiary propaganda and fraudulent media stories.”

Kidman clarified that she did not have a miscarriage early in her marriage to Cruise, but rather had one early in their relationship. "It was wrongly reported," she told Marie Claire , explaining that she'd had an ectopic pregnancy when she was 23. "So it's huge news, and it didn't happen. Tom Cruise Is Once Again Rumored to Be Dating His Mission: Impossible Costar

Tom Cruise is once again rumored to be romantically involved with someone he met on the set of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

This time, the actor is said to be dating his costar in the film’s seventh iteration, Hayley Atwell. In photos published by The Sun , the pair were spotted holding hands at a recent London screening, as well as in between shooting scenes, kicking off speculation they’re officially an item. According to a source who spoke to The Sun , “Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable.” They added, “They’ve been meeting up after hours, and she’s been to his London pad. They get on brilliantly, and both seem very happy.”

While Cruise and Atwell could very well have a burgeoning new romance, this is hardly the first time the action star has been linked to someone he was starring opposite. In fact, this isn’t even the first time he’s been linked to a woman on this particular Mission: Impossible set. It was previously reported that Cruise and his other costar Vanessa Kirby had off-the-charts chemistry during both this most recent shoot and during 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, in which she plays his love interest. Kirby firmly denied the rumors during a 2018 interview with The View .

There were also stories about Cruise “falling for” his skydiving instructor Sian Stokes during filming. And then there are the recent rumors about Cruise’s off-screen love life, tying him to Elizabeth Moss and Michelle Dockery . So basically, if you’re a woman anywhere within Cruise’s vicinity, chances of dating rumors are extremely high.

Hayley Atwell calls Tom Cruise romance rumors ‘upsetting’

Hayley Atwell is addressing the romance rumors that have surrounded her and Tom Cruise as they promote their film “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.”

The actors share the screen in the upcoming action film, out July 12, and recently there has been speculation about their relationship off camera.

Atwell responded to the gossip and opened up about her friendship with the “Top Gun: Maverick” actor in an interview with The Independent published on July 8. 

During the sit-down, she mentioned that she heard rumors about her having secret flings with Cruise and “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” director Christopher McQuarrie, also known as McQ. 

But she says her relationships with her collaborators are strictly platonic. The 41-year-old actor told the British newspaper that she views Cruise, 61, and McQuarrie, 54, as “sort of two uncles.” 

Speaking directly about the gossip involving her co-star and director, Atwell said, “I would be like, ‘Ooh, there’s some weird rumors, and it feels base, it feels a little dirty, it feels grubby, it’s not what I’m about.’”

She continued, “Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?”

The “Marvel’s Agent Carter” star called the rumors “upsetting,” pointing out that comments about her love life impact her personal relationships. 

“It’s involving people in my actual life, my personal life, who have to be on the receiving end of that,” she explained. “It becomes invasive.”

Atwell has been navigating life in the public eye since her breakout role in “Captain America: The First Avenger” in 2011. She said she has learned to be “more mindful” when giving statements to avoid assumptions about her private life. 

She told The Independent that she decided to have a conversation with Cruise about the rumors swirling around their relationship, to which the “Jerry Maguire” star gave Atwell stellar advice.

She recounted that he told her, “‘You know exactly who you are. You know what you’re about. And that is the only thing that matters. It doesn’t matter what people think of you, if you are in integrity with yourself, if you know what your value system is.’” 

The Marvel star recalled watching classic movies like “Paper Moon” and “Broadcast News” with Cruise and McQuarrie after landing the role of Grace in “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.” 

Cruise and McQuarrie “love seeing women thrive and be in their own power,” she said. “So if I ever tried to play small or flirtatious, or play damsel, they would probably be like, ‘What are you doing? That’s not you!’”

The actress will appear alongside Cruise, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Cary Elwes and Simon Pegg in the franchise’s next installment. 

Atwell is already being praised for her role in the movie. In his first reaction to a screening of the seventh “Mission: Impossible,” Screen Rant’s Joe Deckelmeier tweeted that Atwell, “STEALS every scene she’s in.”

New York native Tom Cruise is chiefly known for his career as an actor and his roles in blockbuster films; however, his fans have also pried into his personal life. Cruise decided to keep his romances private following his divorce from fellow actress Katie Holmes.

As one of the Top 100 Movie Stars of all time, who initially saw a potential life of priesthood, Tom Cruise's career began when he appeared in 1981's "Endless Love" for a minor role. After only a few years in the acting industry, he shot to fame, starring in some of the highest-grossing movies, such as the "Top Gun" franchise.

The actor has also been romantically involved with many beautiful women, but some of his relationships have remained unconfirmed. His last reported relationship was with British actress Hayley Atwell. The former lovers' relationship was reportedly on-and-off, but they ended it for good in June this year.

Hayley Attwell Is Tom's Last Girlfriend

Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell are colleagues collaborating on the actor's action film currently under production, "Mission Impossible: Death Reckoning Part One." According to The Sun , Cruise and Atwell were spotted in London hand in hand.

The sighting sparked speculations of secret relationship brewing between the two. A source confirmed it, claiming that the pair got along well from their first meeting. They went strong from December 2020 until last year, September.

Atwell and Cruise's relationship suffered strain due to the media scrutiny they found themselves under, with fans accusing the union of being a publicity stunt. Still, they tried again this year, which only lasted a few months, and they separated sometime in May.

Rumors about Tom Cruise's Relationship before He Met Hayley Attwell

After his divorce from Katie Holmes , Tom Cruise's name swirled the internet in a barrage of dating rumors. Experts played matchmakers, suggesting that Yolanda Pecoraro would be the "perfect" fourth Mrs. Cruise as the actress shared a strong faith in Scientology with Cruise.

Moreover, Pecoraro had allegedly dated the "Top Gun" alum in the past. A former church member reportedly called Pecoraro a "Scientology princess," concurring that she'd be the actor's perfect match.

Another Scientology expert claimed that Cruise's subsequent marriage was bound to be inside the church. Pecoraro started taking Scientology classes when she was a teenager, as her parents were the church's devout members.

At the time, the actress was living in California with her boyfriend. She also confirmed that she did know Tom Cruise but offered no comment on the matchmaking that was taking place online. Tom Cruise's former "Mission Impossible: Fallout" co-star Vanessa Kirby was also romantically linked to the actor.

The pair were spotted sharing a passionate kiss on the film set. On Kirby's 2018 Marie Claire cover, who was in a relationship at the time, she addressed the dating rumors. Kirby expressed disbelief about the people who ran with the story, even though it was untrue.

In November 2013, Cruise was linked to "Orange Is the New Black" alum and fellow Scientologist Jennifer Akerman. Although the pair's representatives denied the speculation, Page Six gathered intel that suggested that Akerman and Cruise kept their relationship under wraps.

The fellow actors were sighted having dinner at the Manor Hotel in Los Angeles. However, that wasn't their first date. A source told the outlet that Cruise and Akerman were "extremely careful" with keeping their romance a secret, despite their PR representatives denying its existence.

Still, both their representatives insisted that the pair only met coincidentally at functions. The "Mission Impossible" alum was also linked to Akerman's sister Malin. However, the outlet didn't elaborate further on the matter.

A few months after his divorce from Katie Homes, Tome Cruise was romantically linked to Cynthia Jorge, who worked as Beauty and Essex's manager. The pair was spotted enjoying a night out at a New York Club.

The rumors were debunked when a source close to Jorge told People they were only friends enjoying a night out together. Jorge also shared with the insider in question that she thought Cruise was a nice guy.

Tom Cruise reportedly had women audition to be his third wife. He had them after his marriage to Mimi Rogers in the late 1980s and Nicole Kidman in the 1990s. Although the actor eventually married again to Katie Holmes, the rumors were hearsay.

Katie Holmes - Tom Cruise's Last Wife

In 2004, actress Katie Holmes was engaged to Chris Klein when she admitted that her crush was Tom Cruise. The following year in March, Holmes and Klein separated, and the next month, Holmes and Tom Cruise went public. At the time, it was alleged that they had already been dating for a couple of weeks.

That June, Holmes announced her conversion to Scientology and shared that she was excited. A few days later, the couple announced their engagement. That October, they shared more life-changing news: they were expecting their first baby. On April 18, 2006, their daughter Suri was born.

That year in November, Cruise and Homes finally tied the knot. During a 2010 interview, Holmes spoke positively about married life and mentioned that she wanted to focus on Suri before having more kids.

In May 2012, her husband spoke fondly of her at a Playboy interview. Yet when Cruise was promoting "Rock of Ages" the following month, Holmes wasn't present. A few days after that event, the actress filed for divorce.

Cruise was taken aback by Holmes's filing, as the actress reportedly used burner cellphones to contact divorce lawyers. Less than two weeks later, their divorce was finalized, with Holmes receiving primary custody of their daughter.

Tom Cruise and Sofía Vergara's Meeting

Tom Cruise and Sofia Vergara dated briefly in February 2005. The actress was among a list of women that the actor wanted to date after breaking up with Penelope Cruz. Actor Will Smith reportedly set them up at a Pre-Oscars party, to which he invited Vergara.

Despite the possibility of Smith playing matchmaker, Vergara was smitten by Cruise. The actor showered her with gifts after that first meeting. Afterward, Cruise took her to meet the Scientology church leader.

David Miscavige told her that she would have to renounce her Catholic faith if she wanted to be in the actor's life. Vergara wasn't willing to do so, let alone marry Cruise after only a few encounters. Hence, they broke up.

Nazanin Boniadi was reportedly among the women groomed to be Tom Cruise's wife. She was brought in assuming that the Scientology church had selected her to meet dignitaries following some compulsory "training." The church forced her to re-invent her entire look to abide by their expectations.

At the time, she was already in a serious relationship, which the Scientology church allegedly sabotaged. After signing a confidentiality agreement, she continued doing the church's bidding.

She then made a mistake seen as a crime by the church, and its authorities removed her from Cruise's life, who never officially broke up with her.

Tom Cruise Dated Penélope Cruz for Several Years

Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz met while filming "Vanilla Sky" in 2000, a year before the actor and Nicole Kidman divorced. The former couple had a loving relationship where Cruise cooked for his ex-girlfriend and ran baths for her.

However, the media still fabricated stories about Cruz's alleged infidelity with another Spanish actor. They broke up in 2004. Their representatives said it was amicable, as the actors thought it was best if they simply remained friends from then onwards.

Tom Cruise Was Married to Nicole Kidman for over a Decade

Nicole Kidman, who joined Scientology for her ex-husband and later renounced it, first encountered Tom Cruise while filming "Days of Thunder." They fell in love and got married the following year. Per the Heat via the Mirror , Cruise allegedly refers to her as “the one that got away,” and that It’s always eaten away at Tom that he dumped Sofia and chose Katie [Holmes ].”

Back in 2005 , Will Smith introduced Vergara to Cruise at a pre-Oscar party, and soon after, Cruise called up Vergara to invite her to an upcoming party, according to Foreign Policy . According to the New York Post , Vergara was “dazzled by Tom’s megawatt smile and amused by the blizzard of phone calls, flowers, and chocolates that followed their first meeting.”

Despite their hot and heavy fling, it does seem that Vergara will be focusing on her newfound singlehood until her divorce is finalized. But after? Only time will tell.

Tom Cruise Has Reportedly Met With His Rumored Russian Lover’s Kids As Romance Intensifies

Tom Cruise and his rumored Russian socialite lover, Elsiner Khayrova , appear to have taken their relationship to the next level.

According to reports, the "Mission Impossible" actor has met with Khayrova's kids amid their blossoming romance.

Previous reports claimed that the duo are now an item but prefer to keep their romance under the radar.

Tom Cruise Has Met Elsina Khayrova's Children

Cruise seems to have embraced a new level of commitment to his love interest, Khayrova, as reports have claimed that he has met with her children.

It is unclear where the actor met with the kids, as Khayrover has chosen to fly their romance under the radar.

Cruise first met the mother of two at one of his high-profile parties at his Hyde Park penthouse in London. Since that meeting, the duo have grown very close and have allegedly become exclusive with each other,  as claimed by an insider close to the couple.

"It's well known within Elsina's circle that she and Tom are now an item," a source recently told Page Six . "They've grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy."

They added, "Tom has been staying the night at Elsina's apartment, which, as you can imagine, is a very beautiful place. They enjoy hanging out together and, despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do."

From the looks of things, it appears Cruise has ignored the warning of Khayrova's ex-husband Dimitry Tsvetkov, who claimed she liked the "finer things in life."

Back in December, the Russian oligarch and diamond dealer granted an interview to the Daily Mail , where he revealed that he had spent millions of dollars purchasing clothes, handbags, and other luxurious items to satisfy Khayrova's "expensive and luxurious taste" while he was married to her.

He also mentioned that he expects any new man coming into his ex's life to be prepared to equal or surpass those expenditures, given her expectations for such extravagance.

"Irrespective of whoever she's with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious taste," Tsetkov told the publication.

"Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open," he continued, adding he was "happy" for Khayrova and wished her "all the best."

Tom Cruise And Elsina Khayrov Have Kept Their Romance Low-Key

Neither Cruise nor Khayrova have yet to confirm their romance publicly, but all signs point to it being authentic.

According to sources, take incognito strolls through Hyde Park, where Cruise's house is located. The two have also reportedly dined privately at several exclusive London restaurants.

And in a situation where they can't control being seen, they arrive separately, just like their appearance at the recent gala dinner in support of London's Air Ambulance Charity.

However, the duo seem to prefer spending quality time together at Khayrova's London apartment in Knightsbridge, which costs millions of dollars. Sources have claimed that neighbors of Khayrova have seen the "Top Gun" star walking into the building where the socialite has been living for the past half a decade.

"He comes in through the front entrance, says hello to all the security staff, and doesn't make a big fuss," an anonymous neighbor shared, per the Daily Mail . " Having a big name like Cruise in the building is not a big deal for us because there are a lot of high-profile people  living here or visiting."

Tom Cruise Recently Signed A New Deal Worth Millions

Away from Cruise's love life, he recently penned a new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to develop and produce theatrical movies.

This deal is being termed a "strategic partnership" that would hopefully yield box-office blockbusters and, by extension, appealing sequels to generate massive profits for the film giants.

Both Cruise and Warner Bros. executives have spoken publicly about the deal.

"We are thrilled to be working with Tom, an absolute legend in the film industry," a statement from the exec read, per Variety . "We couldn't be more excited to welcome Tom back to Warner Bros. and look forward to bringing more of his genius to life on screen in the years ahead."

Meanwhile, in his own statement, Cruise said he "looks forward to making great movies" with the team.

A Look Back At Tom Cruise And Penelope Cruz's Y2K Romance

The dating history of Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise has always fascinated the tabloids. This is especially true considering he has been connected to some of film's biggest names, such as Oscar award winner Nicole Kidman. Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise married in 1990 and welcomed two children before Cruise filed for divorce in 2001. Just months before choosing to end his marriage, "The Mummy" star met his next partner, Penelope Cruz.

Though they'd been acquainted prior, it wasn't until after Cruise invited Cruz to his birthday party in July 2001 that the two began dating. Once crowned Hello! Magazine's Most Attractive Couple Of The Year , Cruz and Cruise embarked on a three-year relationship that was filled with affection. Cruise even confided in Marie Claire that he enjoyed packing on the romance for his girlfriend, including whipping up home-cooked meals and running baths for her. While things appeared promising, the pair ended their relationship in 2004. Though they reportedly remained friends, it seems that their split may have been a bit bumpy.

Penelope Cruz and Tom Cruise first met through their work in the romance thriller, "Vanilla Sky." Ironically enough, the two portrayed love interests, Sofia Serrano and David Aames. During a January 2002 press run for the film, the two praised one another in front of media cameras. Cruise stated he'd appreciated Cruz's compassion, while she admired his generosity with everyone he seemed to encounter. Though it would be easy to assume that this immediately sent sparks between them, that was simply not the case. Years after their breakup, Cruz explained that she never mixes business with pleasure on set.

"I've never fallen in love with someone I'm working with. It's always been afterward. If something becomes friendship, then maybe months later, it becomes something else, but you can never know," she explained to The Telegraph in 2008, four years after the breakup.

Cruz may have been jealous of Cruise's relationship with Nicole Kidman

Penelope Cruz chose to split from Tom Crusie in 2004, and it may have had something to do with Cruise's ex-wife, Nicole Kidman. Though she was reportedly devastated by their divorce and even tried to convince him to stay in the marriage, Cruise expressed his love for Kidman. This allegedly didn't sit well with Cruz, who caught wind of deep conversations the exes were having when she was not around. It also didn't help that Kidman's and Cruise's children supposedly weren't bonding well with Cruz. However, once the split was announced in March 2004, a representative for Cruz seemingly dismissed these claims, telling People , "There is no other person involved."

After People's Sexiest Man Alive alum moved on from Cruz, he married "Alone Together" star Katie Holmes in 2005, though the relationship fizzled by 2012. Cruz walked down the aisle with actor Javier Bardem in 2010, whom she remains with today. Years later, the old flames were spotted dining in London in February 2015 with Cruz's good friend, Salma Hayek. Even after parting ways, it appears there is no bad blood between Cruz and Cruise.

Inside Tom Cruise And Elsina Khayrova's Whirlwind Fling

W hen you're as famous as Tom Cruise, it can be difficult to keep your romances a secret. The A-list actor has famously been married three times, and each one had its fair share of media attention. Cruise was first wed to Mimi Rogers from 1987 until 1990, then married to Nicole Kidman from 1990 until 2001, and then tied the knot with Katie Holmes in 2006 before they officially divorced in 2006. However, it seemed like Cruise was able to keep his romantic life a little more out of the spotlight following that high-profile split with Holmes — that is, until the world caught word of Cruise's apparent romance with Elsina Khayrova .

Cruise and Khayrova, a socialite and former model, went somewhat public with their romance in late December 2023. That was when the  Daily Mail reported the star was spotted getting very cozy with his new love at a party in London. "They were inseparable, clearly a couple. He seemed to be besotted with her," an onlooker even told the outlet at the time. That outing came shortly after the two first met, with  Page Six  reporting the two crossing paths after Khayrova accompanied a friend to a tea party Cruise was hosting at his London home. It seemed like things were going well for these two — at least for a little while, anyway.

Tom Cruise Reportedly Met Elsina Khayrova's Kids

A sign that things are going well for any new couple? Meeting the kids. Elsina Khayrova apparently felt comfortable enough with Tom Cruise to introduce him to her children. Page Six reported in February 2024 that Cruise had met his love interests' children, a son and a daughter, who she shares with her former husband, Dimitry Tsvetkov. You may not have heard of Tsvetkov, but he's actually a pretty big deal. Khayrova's ex is reportedly a Russian oligarch and also sells diamonds.

Reports claimed around the same time that Cruise was very much into the ex-model. In January 2024, a source dished on the blossoming romance to Us Weekly : "They're very happy. And Tom's extremely confident about it working out for the long term." The insider also shared that Cruise and Khayrova's relationship had started more as a friendship that blossomed into romance, and also noted that Khayrova was very understanding and supportive of Cruise's busy career. Two months later, a source dished again on the twosome's apparent love to  Us Weekly , sharing that Cruise was supposedly even thinking about things long-term with his girlfriend. Sounds like a perfect match, right? Well ... maybe not exactly.

Things Cooled Off Almost As Quickly As They Began (But He May Be Moving On)

Despite the multiple claims Tom Cruise and Elsina Khayrova may have been headed for the long hall, it seems like it all got a little too much for the "Top Gun" star. In February 2024, around two months after he and Khayrova were spotted in London, a source told  Page Six  that Cruise had second thoughts about their romance. They claimed Cruise, who doesn't appear to have spoken publicly about Khayrova, wanted to slow down and felt all the speculation in the media had gotten too intense. "He's cooled things down," they claimed, suggesting Cruise may not be ready for a long-time love with the socialite after all. But that didn't necessarily mean a full-on breakup, as they purported they were still in touch.

But fans maybe shouldn't put a lot of stock in the possibility of these two getting together. That's because, if you believe InTouch 's insider at least, Cruise has eyes for his "Top Gun: Maverick" co-star and "At Midnight" actor Monica Barbaro . They suggested the actor was looking to move on from his brief romance with Khayrova and may just have been looking to do that with Barbaro. "Tom thinks she's stunningly beautiful," the source said in March 2024. "He'd like to explore a relationship with her." It seems like we'll just have to wait and see what's next in the love life of this superstar.

Cher Opens Up About Her Famous Past Lovers, Including Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer

The 72-year-old singer also gets candid about her face lift.

Cher believes in love after love. 

The 72-year-old music icon gets candid about her past relationships in a new tell-all interview with the  Mail on Sunday . The Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again star first touches on her romance with actor Tom Cruise, who she met in 1985 at Sean Penn and Madonna’s wedding and started dating that same year. 

After their initial introduction, the pair reunited at a White House event, and Cher recalls how the two bonded. “A bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic,” she says. "We didn’t go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there.”

She adds that she’s still friends with Cruise, noting, "Though I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing. I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.”

Back in June, Cher played "Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts"   on  The Late Late Show With James Corden,  where she was asked to name her top four best lovers in addition to Cruise, who she’d named previously. Refusing to do so, she opted to eat a dried caterpillar instead. 

However, she isn't shy about discussing her love life in this most recent interview.

Cher also dated Cruise's Top Gun co-star, Val Kilmer, from 1982 to 1984, and from what she describes, the actor is a great kisser. “When we kissed, I thought my head would shoot right off my body," she remembers.

As for KISS rocker Gene Simmons, who she dated from 1977 to 1980, Cher says he's “the one I’m crazy about,” but credits David Geffen, who she was with from 1973 to 1974, for helping to keep her off the “street.” 

She goes on to call Rob Camilletti, a bagel baker who is 18 years her junior that she dated from 1986 to 1989, "possibly the one true love of my life.”

Cher isn’t quite as complimentary when it comes to her former husbands. 

The chart-topping singer spoke of the late Gregg Allman, who she was married to from 1975 to 1979, saying, "It was really intense, but it’s hard to have a marriage with someone who’s doing drugs… Drugs and I were just never meant to be together. I thought it was stupid and still do. I saw too many people where it ruined their lives. It ruined Gregory’s life.”

As for the late Sonny Bono, who Cher was married to from 1969 to 1975, she says he treated her “more like a golden goose” than a wife, adding, “We had a weird relationship. I don’t expect anybody to understand it.” 

These days Cher is single and admits that she finds it hard to date. 

"Not this week. I’m still on the lookout,” she teases. "The problem I have with all the boyfriends lately is that I don’t want to go any place with them because you can’t keep a relationship going in this kind of goldfish bowl, where everything you do and every picture you have taken will be on Instagram. There’s no way to keep something special."

Cher also doesn't shy away from discussing her plastic surgery, which she’s been open about in the past. "Yes, I’ve had a face lift, but who hasn’t?” she quips.

Tom Cruise’s Only Western Is Old Fashioned Romance at Its Best

This old-fashioned romantic epic saw the actor share the screen for the second time with Nicole Kidman.

Classical and old-fashioned in its sensibilities, it also remains Cruise's sole venture into the Western genre. Although Far and Away doesn't truly delve into Western territory until its final act , it delivers one of the most grand and thrilling finales in its director and stars' respective bodies of work. Weaving his characters through a historical tapestry of adventure and romance, Howard caps the film off with a bang and offers a glimpse into a formative era of collective aspiration and individual ambition.

What Is 'Far and Away' About?

Far and Away tells a tale of Irish lovers from widely divergent social backgrounds. A farmhand seeking to avenge his father and the destruction of his home, Joseph Donnelly (Tom Cruise) embarks on a mission to kill Daniel Christie ( Robert Prosky ), a greedy landowner enriching himself through unjustly high rents on tenants. When his pursuit of Christie backfires (literally), Joseph crosses paths with the landowner's daughter, Shannon (Nicole Kidman), an impetuous and stubborn young woman looking to dissociate from her privileged environment. Enticed by one another and the prospect of securing land in the Oklahoma Territory, they set sail across the Atlantic and settle in Boston.

Westerns Had an Unexpected Golden Age in This Decade

Fresh off the boat in America, Joseph and Shannon pass themselves off as brother and sister, with the former finding local celebrity as an amateur bare-knuckle boxer and the latter relegated to factory labor and burlesque. In the meantime, Shannon's wealthy parents are driven from their ivory tower by angry tenants, ultimately fleeing Ireland for America in search of their daughter. After a series of misfortunes, Joseph and Shannon are torn apart and head West with hopes of securing land. Reunited by mere chance in Oklahoma, they participate in the historic Cherokee Outlet Land Run of 1893 and ultimately claim their place in a new world.

Is 'Far and Away' Based On a True Story?

Historically based but fictional in nature , Ron Howard's film stemmed from an original story he conceived along with writer/producer Bob Dolman . As one of his only writing credits within a prolific career, Howard took inspiration from exploring his own heritage to dramatize the multifaceted experience of immigration to America at the turn of the century . In a retrospective discussion for the film's 30th anniversary, he revealed to Yahoo! Entertainment that " Far and Away really began probably when I was 6 years old, maybe 7, and I visited my great-grandmother in Kansas. And she pulled out of her drawer this newspaper and it was from the 1890s, and it was a photo for the Oklahoma land rush starting line. And she thought that her future husband was in the lead on a horse."

In drawing from a sweeping bit of American history , Howard and co-writer Dolman offer viewers a glimpse into a raucous time period in which cultures clashed like oil and water, with immigrants from all walks of life clamoring to keep themselves afloat amid a rapidly transforming and growing society. Regarding Far and Away 's romance, which derives from largely one-dimensional lead characters and often verges on something out of a teenage love story, Cruise and Kidman nonetheless display undeniable chemistry that transcends the film's narrative and tonal shortcomings. Spending much of their time squabbling over petty grievances, exchanging digs and jabs like two kids refusing to acknowledge they're crushing on each other, Joseph and Shannon's relationship harkens back to the screwball Hollywood romances of old. And while Howard and Dolman's screenplay doesn't shy away from superficial stereotypes, its occasional observations on societal hierarchies land with resonance. But for all of its historicity on a tangential level, it's the film's finale that drops audiences smack dab in the middle of a lesser-known corner of American history.

'Far and Away's Western-Based Final Act Is Its Best

At midday on September 16, 1893 , roughly 100,000 eagerly awaited their chance to claim land in present-day northwestern Oklahoma. Dubbed the Cherokee Outlet, the area comprised roughly 40,000 parcels and was yet another chunk of territory being carved up by the U.S. government after generations of inhabitancy by Native Americans. It would be the fourth and largest of five land rushes in the area over several years. After a starting gun sounded at noon, people on horseback, in wagons, and on foot stormed the frontier hoping to score a piece of the limited real estate. In Far and Away 's final half-hour, Joseph and Shannon find themselves front and center at the starting line of the Cherokee Outlet Land Rush, and it's in this ambitious recreation of American history that Ron Howard's film truly soars with spectacle, excitement, and a good old-fashioned sense of adventure.

Years before CGI became the norm for staging such sequences, evermore incentivizing filmmakers to rely on increasingly stale technology to populate their epic frames, Howard had no choice but to employ hundreds of stunt performers, extras, animals, and period-authentic props to bring the event to the screen. Of shooting the sequence , Howard remembers, "We had 750 people and horses lined up. We had 13 cameras, two in the air, cameras dug in everywhere." And several of those cameras were loaded with wide, high-resolution film, expanding on the scene's large-scale sense of grandeur and scope. According to Variety , Far and Away was "notable as the first narrative, non-effects-oriented Hollywood feature in more than two decades to have been shot on 65mm stock (with Panavision’s new Super 70 equipment) and released in 70 mm."

As the film's main characters finally converge at this historic moment, Far and Away earns its spurs as an exercise in Western filmmaking , with a game Cruise and Kidman deftly weaving through Howard's frame on horseback as the filmmaker's cameras sweep above and through the action. An Oklahoma native, Howard orchestrates one of the most logistically complex and thrilling sequences of his decades-long career behind the camera, and though Far and Away would come and go with a lukewarm reception from audiences and critics in 1992, it nevertheless remains an enduring and underrated effort on the part of its director and lead performers .

Suri Cruise looked so grown up on Wednesday when she she was captured heading on vacation with her mother, Katie Holmes  from New York. 

The mother-daughter duo were pictured getting into a car with their luggage as they headed off for the Easter weekend. Suri's beautiful long hair took centre stage of the pre-holiday snaps. The 17-year-old donned a pair of fabulously vibrant red trousers covered in white swirls, a corduroy navy blue jacket with a shearling collar and black trainers. 

Meanwhile, mom Katie oozed glamour wearing an oversized army-green jacket and beige trousers. The actress slipped on a pair of dark sunglasses, and opted for a pair of chunky black sandals for footwear.

The mother-daughter trip came just weeks before Suri turns 18 on April 18. Katie is exceptionally private about her daughter, and whether or not she will go to college has yet to be revealed. 

However, Suri has been involved in two of her mother's movies, Alone Together and Rare Objects, where she can be heard showing off her impressive singing voice.

Therefore, it is likely that the youngster may want to follow in her movie star parent's footsteps for a career in Hollywood.  Listen to Suri's incredible vocals in the video below.

Prior to their latest appearance in New York, the duo were spotted back in December for  Katie's 45th birthday celebrations.  The pair couldn't have looked more similar in the photos.

Katie looked effortlessly glamorous,  sporting a grey and black leopard print maxi dress, which she paired with classic white boots. 

Meanwhile, Suri was wrapped in a cozy grey tweed coat, oversized maroon scarf and black pointed-toe heels.

He does however pay £400,000 a year in child support which will come to an end when she turns 18 in April.

Katie and Suri couldn't be closer and Katie has previously opened up about becoming a mother at 27: "I was happy to become a mom in my twenties. It's been nice that our ages fit … how do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together," she told Elle UK.

The 1980s was an incredible decade for entries in the so-bad-they’re-good action/thriller subgenre , with movies like Patrick Swayze’s Road House failing to impress critics but remaining beloved for their lack of self-seriousness and entertainment value. The cast of 2024’s Road House remake maintains this sentiment in the remake of the 1989 film, with its divisive success making additional remakes of movies of this vein more likely.

While not as fondly remembered as Road House , another ‘80s hit that falls into this category is Tom Cruise’s 1988 movie Cocktail . The movie follows Cruise’s Brian Flanagan, a business student working as a successful bartender, whose relationships with his coworker Doug (Bryan Brown) and romantic interest Jordan (Elisabeth Shue) lead to a series of unexpected twists and turns. Though the film holds a meager 9% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it was a smash box office smash, earning $171.5 million against an estimated budget of $20 million (via Box Office Mojo ). Following Road House ’s success, it could finally be time to give Cruse's Cocktail the modern remake treatment .

Glen powell & sydney sweeney would be perfect for a cocktail remake after anyone but you, the two actors could fill the shoes of tom cruise and elisabeth shue.

One crucial factor contributing to the success of Doug Liman’s 2024 Road House remake was its compelling lead cast, with action star Jake Gyllenhaal taking over Patrick Swayze’s character from the original while UFC champion Conor McGregor assumed the cartoonish villain role . Similar to Road House ’s remake requiring an actor with Swayze’s star power and charisma, a Cocktail remake would need an actor with comparable allure to ‘80s-era Tom Cruise for Brian Flanagan . With the original Cocktail movie’s negative critical and audience response making it ripe for improvement , Powell and Sweeney could provide the star power a remake would need to successfully adapt the same-named 1984 novel.

This was a common tactic for 1990s romantic comedies, which would see romantic leads like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts and Richard Gere reunite in another rom-com instead of making a direct sequel to their past success. Road House 2024's Success Proves Remakes Of Divisive '80s Thrillers Can Work Today

The bar is set lower, but it needs to maintain '80s movie's tone.

Remakes of 1980s hits don’t always work out, with some proving to be unnecessary if the original was already a hit and a product of its time. However, there are some notable exceptions, with Amazon’s 2024 Road House movie being one of them. The Road House remake’s Rotten Tomatoes score is already better than the 1989 original (59% compared to 43%), and smashed records for Prime Video’s movie premiere viewership numbers to prove its popularity among audiences. Though many fans of the original may reasonably remain more loyal to Swayze’s 1989 iteration, it’s difficult to deny the entertainment value and success of the remake.

Considering Cocktail has a much less beloved reputation than 1989’s Road House , remaking the Tom Cruise film isn’t apt to come with as much apprehension or high expectations. With an already divisive original movie, there isn’t as big of a risk of “ ruining ” the original, as the bar is relatively lower when aiming to improve upon certain aspects of the first film that didn’t initially land with critics and audiences. Of course, with cult classics, it helps if the remake maintains the tone of the original, such as 2024’s Road House protecting the campiness and lack of self-seriousness of the 1989 film.

Top Gun: Maverick Highlights How Glen Powell Could Replace Tom Cruise's Brian In Cocktail

A potential Cocktail remake wouldn’t be the first time that Glen Powell has stepped into an ‘80s-based Tom Cruise property. Powell starred in Cruise’s 2022 hit Top Gun: Maverick as Hangman , who served a role similar to Val Kilmer’s Iceman from the 1986 original movie. Consequently, it’s already clear that Powell has qualities similar to Cruise in that era, which would make him taking over a character that Cruise originated easier to grasp.

The greatest way to make [a Cocktail remake] more enticing would be to get Tom Cruise to return as well.

Similar to Hangman or Maverick, a character like Brian Flanagan has an air of cockiness and confidence that contrasts with his need to prove himself. Powell’s past movies have demonstrated that he could take on this type of character successfully, having to balance the cockiness and heroism of his Top Gun character with the earnestness and rom-com lead chops of his Anyone but You role. While Powell and Sweeney potentially starring in a Cocktail remake would already give it a leg up, the greatest way to make it more enticing would be to get Tom Cruise to return as well.

Lewis Hamilton is producing a Formula 1 movie with Joseph Kosinski starring Brad Pitt.

The British racing star could have worked with the filmmaker on Top Gun: Maverick had it not been for his conflicting work schedule.

In a new interview, Hamilton revealed he lobbied Tom Cruise to star in a possible Top Gun sequel before the 2022 film was made.

“Firstly, I hadn’t even had, like, an acting lesson,” he said. “And I don’t want to be the one that lets this movie down. And then secondly, I just really didn’t have the time to dedicate to it. I remember having to tell Joe and Tom — and it broke my heart. And then I regretted it, naturally, when they show me the movie and it’s: It could’ve been me!”

Although he didn’t have the opportunity to work with Kosinski in Top Gun: Maverick , he will now work with him in the Formula 1 film.

“My point was: Guys, this movie needs to be so authentic,” Hamilton said. “There’s two different fan groups that we have — like, the old originals, who from the day they’re born hearing the Grand Prix music every weekend and watching with their families, to the new generation that just learned about it today through Netflix.”

He continued, “I felt my job really has been to try to call BS. ‘This would never happen.’ ‘This is how it would be.’ ‘This is how it could happen.’ Just giving them advice about what racing is really about and what, as a racing fan, would appeal and what would not.”

Marco Mueller has been appointed artistic director of Italy’s Taormina Film Festival , which will have a top notch selection committee comprising British film curator and former London fest chief Sandra Hebron and former Cannes Directors’ Fortnight boss Edouard Waintrop.

Other members of the new Taormina programming team are Italian critic Enrico Magrelli, who was Mueller’s right-hand man at Venice, and Carmelo Marabello, a film academic with industry know-how.

“I’m delighted to be working in Sicily where I will be rediscoving my roots – I was born and raised in Rome, but my only quarter of Italian blood is from Palermo,” Mueller said in a statement. “I thank all the people, within institutions and among the friends of cinema, who have created this opportunity for me to experiment in Taormina the moving thought of how a useful popular festival can still be built.”
