Tourist-friendly Facilities – What Visitors Really Want

Home » Tourist-friendly Facilities – What Visitors Really Want

In today’s digital age, the travel industry is booming. More and more people are exploring new destinations and immersing themselves in different cultures. As a result, the demand for tourist-friendly facilities is on the rise. But what exactly do visitors want when it comes to enhancing their travel experience? In this article, we’ll delve into the key factors that make a facility truly tourist-friendly and explore how focusing on these aspects can elevate your business in the eyes of travelers.

The Power of Convenience

When travelers visit a new place, convenience is key. From easily accessible transportation options to centrally located accommodations, tourists crave simplicity and efficiency. Having a well-connected transportation system is crucial to attracting visitors. Whether it’s a user-friendly metro system, reliable taxis, or convenient shuttle services, providing seamless transportation options can significantly enhance the travel experience.

Additionally, tourists appreciate central and easily accessible accommodations. This means offering hotels or vacation rentals in popular tourist areas or near major landmarks. By doing so, you not only offer convenience but also increase the chances of attracting tourists who prefer to explore on foot.

The Beauty of Blending In

While tourists love immersing themselves in a new culture, they also appreciate familiar amenities. A facility that seamlessly blends local charm with international standards is a magnet for travelers. Visitors want to experience authentic cuisine, local customs, and traditional architecture. However, they also desire the comfort of familiar facilities and services.

By striking a balance between authenticity and international standards, you can create a tourist-friendly facility that caters to the diverse needs of travelers. For example, offering a range of dining options that include both traditional dishes and international cuisine can satisfy a wide variety of palates.

Engaging Experiences

One of the key factors that make a facility tourist-friendly is the ability to provide engaging experiences. Travelers seek attractions and activities that allow them to immerse themselves in the local culture and create lasting memories. From guided tours to interactive workshops, offering unique experiences can set your facility apart from competitors.

Engaging experiences can take many forms. For instance, providing opportunities for visitors to interact with locals through cultural exchange programs or organizing excursions that showcase the region’s history and beauty can make a facility more attractive to tourists. These experiences not only add value to their trip but also create a deep connection between the traveler and the destination.

Seamless Communication

In today’s interconnected world, communication is more important than ever. Tourists expect facilities that prioritize clear and efficient communication. This means providing multilingual staff, offering easily accessible customer support, and having clear signage and instructions in different languages.

Moreover, incorporating technology can further enhance communication. For example, providing free Wi-Fi, mobile apps for bookings and inquiries, or interactive touch screens with helpful information can greatly assist visitors during their stay.

Comfort and Safety

Lastly, comfort and safety are non-negotiable for tourists. A facility that prioritizes these aspects is bound to attract more visitors. Comfort can be ensured through well-maintained accommodations, quality mattresses, air conditioning, and amenities that promote relaxation.

Similarly, safety measures should be readily apparent. This can include properly trained staff, 24-hour security, emergency response plans, and well-lit public areas. Taking these steps to ensure the safety and well-being of travelers will not only create a positive experience but also build trust and loyalty.

In conclusion, creating a truly tourist-friendly facility requires a holistic approach. By prioritizing convenience, blending local charm with international standards, offering engaging experiences, enhancing communication, and ensuring comfort and safety, you can provide visitors with an unforgettable travel experience. Remember, a happy tourist is likely to spread the word, leading to more visitors and success for your business.

The public-private partnership project will be operated on the design-build-finance-operate-transfer model.

To execute the project, the state government has floated an e-tender and shortlisted four companies. The final selection will be done after the opening of financial bids.

According to the state tourism department, the tourism centre will have an office, art and crafts centre, food court, ampitheatre and parking space.

In addition, it will also have a dormitory and a shopping complex.

“Over the next one-and-half months, the project will be rolled out,” the state government has said.

The government may remove or relocate some existing structures for the project.

The Capitol Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is the newest addition to the historic Capitol complex and provides an increased focus on visitor comfort, safety and security. At nearly 580,000 square feet, the Visitor Center is the largest project in the Capitol's more than two-century history and is approximately three-quarters the size of the Capitol itself. The leadership  and professional staff of the Capitol Visitor Center work to provide visitors with memorable experiences.

The entire facility is located underground on the east side of the Capitol so as not to detract from the appearance of the Capitol and the grounds designed by  Frederick Law Olmsted  in 1874.

The Capitol Visitor Center has always been considered an extension of the Capitol. The materials used to construct the Visitor Center were selected to match the colors, textures and materials seen throughout the historic building.

This care is evident in Emancipation Hall, named to recognize the  contributions of the enslaved laborers  who helped build the U.S. Capitol, and is the central gathering place for visitors coming to see the Capitol.

Rising 36 feet above the floor, the walls and columns of Emancipation Hall are lined with sandstone slabs marked by a variety of color and texture similar to the sandstone seen in the historic Capitol. Also in Emancipation Hall visitors can see the plaster model of the Statue of Freedom, several statues from the  National Statuary Hall Collection , the Slave Labor Commemorative Marker,  and the  POW/MIA Chair of Honor .

Visitors can begin their Capitol experience by visiting Exhibition Hall, perusing the Gift Shops or dining in the restaurant. All tours of the Capitol start at the Capitol Visitor Center.

Exhibition Hall offers interactive exhibits dedicated to telling the story of Congress and the U.S. Capitol.   Highlights include rarely seen historic documents from the National Archives and the Library of Congress, artifacts from around the country, and an 11-foot-tall touchable model of the Capitol Dome. Exhibition Hall also includes a hands-on education gallery called the Democracy Lab . The collaborative activities in this gallery are designed for children between the ages of 8 and 14.

8 Can’t-Miss Experiences At The NASA Visitor Centers

  • Activities and Interests
  • History and Culture

Mankind’s greatest adventure has been our voyages into outer space. The world has been mesmerized with images of the fragile blue ball we call home from hundreds of miles away. We have been transfixed with our heroics on the moon and thrilled as we watched rockets thunder into the sky.

Across the country, that history is celebrated at the 13 NASA space and science centers. It doesn’t matter if you’re a space geek or a casual observer, the centers offer something for everyone — fascinating exhibits, educational guided tours, immersive IMAX movies, rides, and shuttle simulators that will test your piloting skills. Many places even have snack bars and restaurants.

Here are only a few of the out-of-this-world, can’t-miss experiences waiting for you at NASA visitor centers.

All NASA visitor centers have variable hours (and some are temporarily closed) due to COVID-19. Visit their website for updates on their hours of operation.

Inside the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida.

1. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Cape canaveral, florida.

When most people think about our space program, they remember images of rockets roaring into a beautiful blue Florida sky. This is the place — the Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida.

Out of all of the NASA visitor’s centers, Kennedy has the most to offer — IMAX theaters showing not only space films but documentaries and feature movies as well; guided tours of launch facilities at Cape Canaveral (also known as Cape Kennedy); Astronaut Encounters where you can have lunch with our astronauts, feel the sensation of being launched aboard a space shuttle, and take a tour of the actual space shuttle, Atlantis, with former launch director Mike Leinbach; for the youngsters, the two-story Planet Play playground, and so much more.

However, the big attraction and experience at Kennedy is that you can get the best seats to see an actual launch. Missions (both manned and unmanned) launch almost every week. Very soon, you can have front row seats to see the largest rocket ever built — the Space Launch System (SLS) — take to the sky as we get ready to return to the moon. Visit the center’s Launch Schedule website for the latest schedule and ticket prices.

There are a variety of ticket packages available. Visit the KSC website for details. Keep in mind that launches draw a crowd, so get your tickets early. The center is open 7 days a week, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Remember, though, that Kennedy is a working spaceport, so some attractions (like bus tours) may be closed during launches.

The Space Center Houston in Texas.

2. Space Center

Houston, texas.

Next to the Kennedy Space Center, Space Center Houston is the second most popular NASA visitor center. Once a rocket is launched from Florida, control of the flight is switched here to the Johnson Spaceflight Center (you know, “Houston, we’ve had a problem”).

As with all centers, the Houston center has plenty of historic artifacts, including the iconic Christopher C. Kraft Mission Control Center, where mission controllers worked to land a man on the moon, but the big draw here is being able to watch astronauts train. A special tram ride takes you to the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, where astronauts train on the latest spacecraft, including the International Space Station and the new Orion spacecraft, that will one day head to the moon and Mars.

Being an active space training facility and mission control center, the visitor center is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. The center has extended hours for the Christmas Galaxy Lights display that runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thanksgiving through New Year’s weekend.

No matter when you visit, it’s best to purchase your tickets online to avoid crowds.

The U.S. Space And Rocket Center in Alabama.

3. U.S. Space And Rocket Center

Huntsville, alabama.

They call it the “Rocket City” — Huntsville, Alabama . It was here that Dr. Wernher von Braun and his team developed the Redstone rocket that put our first astronaut — Alan Shepard — into space, as well as the Saturn V that landed men on the moon. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center celebrates this history with thousands of historical artifacts.

But it’s not all about history. There are plenty of interactive activities for the explorer in you, like the Adult or Family Astronaut Training programs where you get to do a little astronaut training, take a 5-minute ride on the HyperShip motion-based simulator, experience the force of gravity on the G-Force Accelerator, take a spin on the stomach-churning Multi-Axis Trainer, and more.

For those who want something a little more down-to-earth, bus tours of the Redstone Arsenal, where our space journey began, are also available.

You will also see one of the few remaining and intact Saturn V rockets. In fact, you can’t miss it. It can be seen for miles as you drive along I-565 heading to the center.

And since Huntsville became the burgeoning city it is today due to the German rocket scientists, it’s only fitting that there is a German Biergarten serving up live music and beer spring through fall.

The center is open Monday — Friday 10 a.m. to 4 pm., Saturday 10 to 5, and Sunday 11 to 5. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance.

The Infinity Science Center in Mississippi.

4. Infinity Science Center

Pearlington, mississippi.

A little-known NASA facility located just off I-10 in Pearlington, Mississippi, is the Infinity Science Center at the Stennis Space Center.

Stennis is the site where NASA tests all of their rocket engines. In fact, the largest engines ever built for the Saturn V moon rocket and the new Space Launch System (SLS) are fired up here, and if you’re lucky, you may get to see the show.

The Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.

Being small in size, Stennis tends to be less crowded but still makes for a full day of exploration. The center has movies and documentaries playing throughout the day in their 3D Immersive Theater, the actual first stage of a Saturn V moon rocket, an Apollo 11 Virtual Reality Simulator, rooms of historical artifacts, guided bus tours of engine test stands, a snack bar, and more.

Infinity is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed on major holidays. Current ticket prices can be found online.

5. Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Pasadena, california.

Talk about being far out — it doesn’t get any farther than at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California . This is where all of the unmanned satellites that zip through the galaxy — and beyond — are tracked like the Voyagers launched in the 1970s. These satellites are still doing research billions of miles outside our own solar system, and the Mars rovers are trekking across the Martian landscape.

All tours begin with a multimedia presentation, Journey to the Planets and Beyond, then take you to see flight operations and spacecraft assembly.

Tours are available from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, closed on weekends. Tours are free, but reservations are required. Contact JPL at (818) 352-1234. Valid identification such as a driver’s license is required for entry.

A launch in Wallops Island, Virginia.

6. Wallops Flight Facility

Wallops island, virginia.

Looking for more rocket launches? Then head over to Wallops Island, Virginia, and the NASA Wallops Flight Facility . Grab a seat in the bleachers to feel the thunder of large-scale launch vehicles like the Antares or sit on the center’s observation deck for the thrill of a sounding rocket launch.

The visitor center also has many exhibits documenting the history of flight from the Wright Brothers to the Space Station.

Wallops Island is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, July through August, Tuesday through Saturday, September through June, closed major holidays. Admission is free.

7. Virginia Air And Space Museum

Hampton, virginia.

The history of aviation is on full display at the Virginia Air and Space Museum in Hampton, Virginia.

The museum features over 30 historic aircraft and spacecraft, including the Apollo 12 capsule and the first Orion capsule, IMAX movies, and a killer simulator — the MaxFlight, a fully interactive, 360-degree simulator complete with authentic pitch and roll (up and down, side to side) just like an actual airplane. And different planes such as vintage WWII fighters and jets turn the experience into a roller coaster.

Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday noon to 5 p.m., closed all major holidays. Beat the crowd by purchasing your tickets online.

The space shuttle Endeavor at the California Science Center.

Usa-Pyon / Shutterstock

8. Space Shuttles

Then there are those science and aviation-based museums that, while not an official NASA visitor center, still have some pretty amazing NASA connections — actual flight flown space shuttles.

Docked along the banks of the Hudson River in lower Manhattan , the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid is incredible on its own, but add to the experience the space shuttle Enterprise that was used for initial testing of the shuttle’s landing capabilities.

The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum’s annex, Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, plays host to the workhorse of the shuttle fleet, Discovery, which logged in 149 million miles over 39 flights.

And the space shuttle Endeavor has found a permanent home at the California Science Center in Los Angeles .

The top right corner of the image shows a nearly quarter-circle shaped piece of land, which is a brown-orange color. There are speckles of clouds covering the top right-most corner of the land. The rest of the image is taken up by ocean, showing the coast of the ocean where it meets the land. The ocean is split up into three segments, each colored differently, with the middle section the largest. The section to the left shows the ocean in true color. There are white wispy clouds covering parts of the ocean from top to bottom at the left-most side. The ocean itself is primarily a dark blue color, though at the top of the section, near the coastline, swirls of light blue, teal, and green begin to form – part of a phytoplankton bloom. The middle section of the image is shown in pink and green. The swirls of green are closer to the coastline, but spread outwards into the ocean, mixing in with the pink. The swirls of pink are farther away from the coast. The right section of the image is shown in several colors of the rainbow. Reds, yellows, and greens are closer to the shore while dark blues and purples are further out in the ocean.

2022.12.09 (Vrindavan Today News): The Government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to provide facility to the pilgrims and tourists during their visit to Nandgaon. It has approved the required budget suggested by the U.P. Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad to establish a Tourist Facilitation Center at Nandgaon.

The UPBTVP has been working relentlessly to develop the tourist infrastructure and upgrade the facilities for the tourists visiting Braj. There has not been any place in Nandgaon where the tourists could stay in the night. The visitors come back to Vrindavan or Mathura after visiting Nandgaon and Barsana. According to Shri Nagendra Pratap, the CEO of the UPBTVP, the Tourist Facilitation Centre at Nandgaon will ease the pressure on Mathura – Vrindavan and provide job opportunities in the Nandgaon area.

It should be noted that the UPBTVP has already established a Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC) in Vrindavan, which has been functioning for some years. The UPBTVP is also set to establish the Tourist Facility Centers (TFC) at Govardhan, Barsana, Gokul and Baldev areas of Braj.

Lufthansa is planning to house historic aircraft at new frankfurt airport conference center.

The airline's Junkers Ju 52 and Lockheed L-1649 Super Star will be proudly displayed in the new facility.

  • The Lufthansa Group plans to open a new conference and visitor center in 2026 at Frankfurt Airport.
  • The highlight will be two historic aircraft on display - the Junkers Ju 52 and Lockheed L-1649 Super Star.
  • The new facility will showcase the airline's history and support new collaborations among employees.

The Lufthansa Group plans to build a new conference and visitor center adjacent to its main office space. The facility is set to open in 2026, coinciding with 100 years of history of the German flag carrier. The highlight of the new conference center will be its contents. The building will house two historic aircraft owned by the airline.

Building a new visitors' center

Today, the Lufthansa Group announced it would be building a new building adjacent to the Lufthansa Aviation Center, which is its main office space. The new building is being angled as a visitor center and conference center. The group intends that the facility will be "a venue for new forms of collaboration for the Group’s employees" .

However, the carrier also revealed that the facility should become a popular location for aviation enthusiasts, where it will showcase the airline's history. The highlight of the building will be two historic aircraft, a Junkers Ju 52 and a Lockheed L-1649 Super Star, on display in the foyer.

About the Junkers Ju 52

The Junkers Ju 52 was built in 1936, meaning it will be 90 years old when Lufthansa celebrates its 100th anniversary. According to a now-deleted "Deutsche Lufthansa Berlin-Stiftung" webpage , Lufthansa first operated this aircraft as D-AQUI. With four crew, the aircraft would carry 16 passengers.

The aircraft eventually found itself doing airshows in the United States, and Lufthansa repurchased it in 1984, going on to restore the aircraft. It was sent to be stored in a Bermen warehouse along with the Super Star in late 2019 .

Lufthansa Legends: The Lockheed Super Star & Junkers Ju 52

100 years of lufthansa.

Lufthansa will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2026. The airline can trace its heritage back to Deutsche Luft Hansa AG, founded on January 6th, 1926, and took its first flight on April 6th. Today, the airline is not the same legal entity established in 1926. This was dissolved in 1951 by the Allied nations following the conclusion of World War 2.

Rather, the current company was founded as the Aktiengesellschaft für Luftverkehrsbedarf in 1953. This company bought the name, trademark, and colors from the original Lufthansa on August 6th, 1954, and took its first flight on April 1st, 1955.
