The Trek Segafredo team just got back from training camp, and by the looks of it, they are ready to hit the races.

Trek Segafredo cataldo climb

For the 2022 season, the Trek Segafredo World Tour teams (men’s and women’s) will be on familiar equipment, with little to no changes in componentry over the last year. The team will ride the Trek Madone for most races, Trek Emonda for the hillier courses, and Trek Domane for events like Paris Roubaix, Liège–Bastogne–Liège, and other classics as riders see fit. The team will be on the trusted Trek Speed Concept for the time trials, a bike that Trek Factory Racing and Trek Segafredo helped craft into its world championship-winning form.

Trek Segafredo decent

Componentry will be all Bontrager, and really — we don’t see a problem with that. The Bontrager Aelous RSL wheels are some of the fastest, best feeling wheels we tested last year, and it says a lot that the tubeless setup is good enough for the World Tour. The team has the choice between many depths of wheels; for climbing stages — Aeolus 37 , for the classic and daily chores — Aeolus 51 , and for cheating the wind — Aeolus 62 .

Trek Segafredo Ciccone out of the saddle

Bars and stem combo range from Bontrager’s new RSL Aeolus one-piece combo to RSL stems and various bars for different terrain. Most will go with Bontrager’s ISOCore VR bar for the extra padding in the classics like Paris Roubaix.

Trek Segafredo Ragot in gravel

Each member chooses what saddle fits them the best after consulting with the Trek Precision Fit crew. Most of the team will be using the Bontrager Aeolus saddle — designed for an aggressive aero position. The Aeolus is Bontrager’s first entry into the short nose power-style saddles and quickly became popular among the World Tour teams.

Trek Segafredo Cordon Ragot near team car

The team will ride exclusively on Pirelli tires, both tubeless and tubular. The go-to model for the team is the Pirelli P Zero TLR , and P Zero tubular. Trek is one of the few World Tour teams leaning toward tubeless rather than tubular, and Pirelli plays a significant role in this decision. Pirelli has worked with Trek-Segafredo riders for the last two years to test and improve their products and help the team perform at the world level. Pirelli’s tubeless tire P Zero TLR, piloted under Lizzie Deignan, was ridden the first-ever victory of Paris-Roubaix Femmes.

Trek Segafredo Longo Borghini decending

SRAM provides the shifting, braking, and power meters for the Trek Segafredo crew. The team will ride the SRAM Red components for all races and training, taking advantage of the wide range of the groupset. As for power measuring needs, the team will use the Quarg Red AXS Power meters .

Trek Segafredo Egholm

Bontrager is the helmet and footwear supplier for the Trek Segafedo team. They will race both the Ballista and the Bontrager XXX shoes . For helmets, the rider will have the choice of the Velocis helmet or the Bontrager XXX Wavecel, depending on race conditions.

2021 Season Summary

Lucinda Brand took the first success of the season, winning the World CX Championships in January. Ellen van Dijk then took the win at a wet, windy Healthy Ageing Tour. Helped by the conditions and a road bike only time trial. Next up was Elisa Longo Borghini who won Trofeo Alfredo Binda with an impressive solo break. Brand and Deignan won in Thuringen and Tour de Suisse. Another solo break from Longo Borghini saw her win GP de Plouay.

Table of Contents

Then Van Dijk began ticking off the time trial victories. She became European Champion and then World Champion against tough competition in Marlen Reusser. Chloe Hosking made a welcome return to the top step of the podium in Norway and Ardeche after struggling with COVID earlier on in the year. The year finished with the highest-profile victory. Lizzie Deignan’s huge solo win at the inaugural Paris Roubaix Femmes, battling the mud, will pass into legend.

Star Riders

Elisa Balsamo

Riders to Watch in 2022

There are the obvious stars of the team in Lizzie Deignan , Elisa Longo Borghini and Ellen van Dijk . The CX world champion Lucinda Brand will come off another long CX season but showed she can still ride all year and peak at the right time for wins. Signed from Movistar, Leah Thomas will provide some more climbing help, possibly an area the team was lacking compared to SD Worx. An American on the American team should see her get chances.

The sprinters are where Trek Segafredo really have a march on their rivals. New signing Elisa Balsamo brings the world champion’s rainbow bands to the team and will share the bulk of the opportunities with elite sprinter Chloe Hosking . Behind them there’s an intriguing battle too. Amalie Dideriksen hasn’t quite turned into the dominant sprinter it looked like she might be when she became world champion herself back in 2016. With no Olympics, she can give this season her all. Letizia Paternoster is in the same boat, the Olympics has been a distraction from her road duties in both 2020 and 2021. It’s easy to forget but in 2019, Paternoster was shaping up to be a huge sprint talent with the results to match.

Transfer Thoughts

The retirements of Ruth Winder and Trixi Worrack left some big holes to fill in the team. Winder was seeming at the peak of her powers, carving out a new role as a spring classics rider after winning Brabantse Pijl. The decision wasn’t an easy one but she’s still playing a role in the cycling world. Winder was elected to the UCI’s Athletes’ Commission for 4 years and is a mentor for young riders with The Cyclists’ Alliance . Trixi Worrack was one of the most experienced riders in the peloton and the team’s road captain. Audrey Cordon-Ragot has been groomed for that role and will step into it fully from 2022.

The signing of Leah Thomas gives Trek-Segafredo a bit more of an option during hilly races. Deignan and Longo Borghini certainly have their days but are often just a double act at the crunch point of races. Thomas will be able to help shift races in their favour against the might of SD Worx. Elisa Balsamo is obviously as a good get as the reigning world champion. Almost the same age as Lorena Wiebes, the pair have been great rivals to watch race against each other. The interesting part will how Balsamo adapts from using a traditional long lead-out train at Valcar to a bit more of an ad-hoc style at Trek Segafredo.

Trek-Segafredo reveal new men's and women's team kits for 2022

The American registered team has freshened up the old designs with a simple yet bright strip

Trek-Segafredo's 2022 kits

Trek-Segafredo has released the 2022 season kit for both the men's and women's teams.

Both kits have the same basic design but with the men sporting the mostly white jersey and black shorts with a red stripe, whereas with the women, it is the same only with a sky blue stripe, very much like one of the Team Sky jerseys of last decade.

The team also released a new pink training kit as they wave goodbye to their old fluo yellow look.

>>> Tom Pidcock aims for triple world championship title: 'I want to be world champion in all three, all in the same year'

This is the first time the two teams are sharing a design with the team saying: "For the first time ever, Trek-Segafredo’s male and female riders will share a look. Not exactly the same kit, but we’ll be rocking complementary colours for the 2022 season, all hand-made in Italy by our long-time partner Santini."

Modelling the men's kit is former world champion Mads Pedersen, Milan-San Remo winner Jasper Stuyven and former yellow jersey wearer Giulio Ciccone.

Trek-Segafredo

For the men they have finally moved away from what was a rather dull looking kit to something that is far fresher, where the old kit tried to be simplistic but came out dull, this jersey, in particular, looks classy.

The women's kit has changed a fair bit over the last three years as it has gone from darker blues to lighter blue and now white with sky blue.

The kits are modelled by Paris-Roubaix winner Lizzie Deignan, Italian national champion Elisa Longo-Borghini and American rider Taylor Wiles.

Trek-Segafredo

The 2021 women's kit used a bold pattern, so this 2022 design represents a big change.

Rating 2021 kits, we only gave Trek-Segafrado 2/5 , citing the lack of change vs previous years as a reason for the low score. Perhaps the team took this to heart, and is seeking a higher score this year.

trek

In 2021 the men's and women's kits weren't similar at all - though they hadn't changed much vs the 2020 design

The jerseys are made out of discarded recycled fibres by Santini and are not made with polluting chemicals.

With all the kit being delivered in compostable bags to reduce plastic waste with kit for all weathers.

The team add: "Whilst we may not be reinventing the wheel, we think we’ve created two elegant yet striking kits which are unmistakably Trek. Our classic design is reminiscent of previous iterations of our racing kits, now with a fresh update for the future.

"The men’s and women’s kits retain their trademark red and light blue colours, respectively, which accent the jersey, bib shorts and socks. Bright Pirelli logos on the arms and back of the shorts completes the look."

Hi, I'm one of Cycling Weekly's content writers for the web team responsible for writing stories on racing, tech, updating evergreen pages as well as the weekly email newsletter. Proud Yorkshireman from the UK's answer to Flanders, Calderdale, go check out the cobbled climbs!

I started watching cycling back in 2010, before all the hype around London 2012 and Bradley Wiggins at the Tour de France. In fact, it was Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck's battle in the fog up the Tourmalet on stage 17 of the Tour de France.

It took me a few more years to get into the journalism side of things, but I had a good idea I wanted to get into cycling journalism by the end of year nine at school and started doing voluntary work soon after. This got me a chance to go to the London Six Days, Tour de Yorkshire and the Tour of Britain to name a few before eventually joining Eurosport's online team while I was at uni, where I studied journalism. Eurosport gave me the opportunity to work at the world championships in Harrogate back in the awful weather.

After various bar jobs, I managed to get my way into Cycling Weekly in late February of 2020 where I mostly write about racing and everything around that as it's what I specialise in but don't be surprised to see my name on other news stories.

When not writing stories for the site, I don't really switch off my cycling side as I watch every race that is televised as well as being a rider myself and a regular user of the game Pro Cycling Manager. Maybe too regular.

My bike is a well used Specialized Tarmac SL4 when out on my local roads back in West Yorkshire as well as in northern Hampshire with the hills and mountains being my preferred terrain.

Cycling Team Trek – Segafredo 2022

This page is committed to Cycling Team Trek – Segafredo 2022. I use it as a hub related to the team and will link each rider to his bike size review as the season goes on.

The team is strong on the Classics with specialists like Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theus, and Mads Pedersen. For the Grand Tours, the team lacks a strong leader. There are excellent riders able to get into the top ten of the General Classification. I think of Julien Bernard, Kenny Elissonde, Bauke Mollema and Giulio Ciccone.

This year I look for the Eritrean rider, Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier, and the American Quinn Simmons to win some stages. They are gaining experience and confidence as they race.

Hey Nerdy Bike friends, please consider subscribing to my newsletter to receive an email whenever I update the site with bike nerd content like this one. No spam, no money requests, just free updates 🙂

At the time of writing, it’s still too early to know the complete season plans for each rider. However, the plans are as below:

PEDERSEN Mads, HOOLE Daan, KIRSCH Alex, SKUJIŅŠ Toms, STUYVEN Jasper, THEUNS Edward, and VERGAERDE Otto race the Hell of the North aka 119th Paris-Roubaix .

CICCONE Giulio, CATALDO Dario, SKJELMOSE JENSEN Mattias, LÓPEZ Juan Pedro, MOLLEMA Bauke, MOSCA Jacopo, THEUNS Edward, and VERGAERDE Otto are racing the 105th Giro d’Italia .

PEDERSEN Mads, CICCONE Giulio, SIMMONS Quinn, GALLOPIN Tony, KIRSCH Alex, MOLLEMA Bauke, SKUJIŅŠ Toms, and STUYVEN Jasper are selected to start the 109th Tour de France .

BERNARD Julien, TIBERI Antonio, HOOLE Daan, ELISSONDE Kenny, LÓPEZ Juan Pedro, KIRSCH Alex, CATALDO Dario, and PEDERSEN Mads are racing La Vuelta a Espana 2022 .

An interesting fact about the team Trek – Segafredo, they do the bike fitting at the end of the season. Precisely at the Il Lombardia race in Italy, which is the last race of the year. Usually, teams do their bike fitting at the first training camps of the season. It means Trek – Segafredo is already set to focus on riding at that time.

Same Bikes as 2021

As the sponsor name indicates, Trek -Segafredo team races on Trek bikes. Like many teams, the riders have three models available to them.

The models are the Trek Emonda SLR9 for the mountains, the Madone SLR9 for the Sprinters, and the Trek Speed-Concept for Time Trial races. The Trek Domane will be in use on the Paris-Roubaix and Flandrian classics. The bikes are the same as in 2021. However, Trek – Segafredo has a habit of updating things mid-season. The gears are SRAM Red eTap AXS 12 speeds with a Quark power meter in the crankset.

Bearings are Ceramic bearings from Kogel. All the components, including the seat posts, the saddles, handlebars, stems, are from the Bontrager catalog.

trek cycling team 2022

The wheels are, therefore, the Bontrager Aeolus RSL51 for most races. Pirelli, the Italian brand, provides tubeless and tubular tires. Stans sealant is in use.

The team uses Wahoo Elment GPS head units.

Fact, the Trek – Segafredo uses Shimano Dura-Ace pedals with hidden logos. It certainly would look like a mismatch on SRAM-sponsored bikes.

The team wears Santini Jerseys and bib-shorts. Bontrager helmets and KCO Sunglasses.

Santini and Trek-Segafredo reveal kits for 2022 cycling season

Santini and Trek-Segafredo reveal kits for the 2022 cycling season

The partnership between Santini and US-based UCI WorldTeam Trek-Segafredo is celebrating its fifth year. Now the Italian cycling wear company reveals the new kits made from recycled fabrics that will dress the men and women of the team both in competition and training for the coming cycling season. Santini is supplying Trek-Segafredo with a complete wardrobe to tackle all four seasons and different weather conditions. Both men’s and women’s kits and accessories will be identical in quantity and technical spec.

Santini and Trek-Segafredo reveal kits for 2022 cycling season

Dressing a pro cycling team is a serious challenge in terms of sizes, preferences, and requirements. That’s without even mentioning changing seasons, individuality, and men’s and women’s training into the mix. In short, there is a huge amount of preparatory work and management involved. The partnership between Santini and Trek-Segafredo enters its fifth year in 2022 and extends well beyond race kits to include training kits and also all of the rest of the apparel the cyclists require throughout the year.

The Trek-Segafredo men’s and women’s teams receive the same wardrobe required to tackle a season of international competition and intense training. Santini supplies both teams with complete kits and accessories for all the seasons and different climate conditions; all in the same quantities and made to the same high technical spec, which also means the same focus on the environment.

Santini Trek-Segafredo kit: Eco-friendly choices

The racing kits of the Trek-Segafredo men’s and women’s teams include an official jersey made from not one but two sustainable fabrics: Ecofabric RECY by Corno, which, as the name suggests, is an eco-friendly product made from yarn recycled from used materials and those discarded in the environment, and Sitip’s Native – Ecoknit, also made from recycled fibers and yarns without the use of polluting chemicals, to reduce consumption of natural resources and dependency on non-renewable energies.

In addition to this, all of the apparel supplied to the team is packaged in the TIPA compostable bags Santini has been using since January 2021.

Race and training kits

Santini Trek-Segafredo training jersey 2022

White was chosen as the main color for the official jerseys for men’s and women’s teams. The men’s jersey has a red band across the chest as a background to the Trek logo, while the women’s version has a light blue band. The bib shorts, on the other hand, are navy blue with a red band for the men’s one and a light blue band for the women’s one. In line with Trek Segafredo’s focus on safety, the training kit is a bright fluorescent grenadine pink for maximum visibility on the road during training sessions.

Replica versions of the men’s and women’s Trek-Segafredo kits are also available to amateur riders.

About Santini Cycling Wear

Santini Cycling Wear  was founded in 1965 by Pietro Santini who spotted a market for technical cycling clothing as a result of his abiding passion for the sport and competition. In what would seem like a revolutionary and contrarian choice today, the Bergamo-based company made the pivotal decision to design and manufacture all of its products exclusively in Italy. Each item is designed and developed by a design team with a deep-rooted passion for the two-wheel world to meet four key requirements: fit, performance, comfort, and durability.

Santini currently produces 5,000 items of clothing per day and exports 80% of its output. It is deeply committed to ongoing investment in researching and developing innovative textiles and new production methods. However, people – athletes – remain its central focus as it continues to refine its creations to allow cyclists to pursue their sporting passions in a comfortable but inimitably stylish kit.

Cycling in Sokolniki park

It is always cheaper to rent a bicycle in person in one of the parks, than to order one and have it delivered to your door. The rules and prices are pretty consistent throughout the Moscow parks. A deposit of 1,500 rubles is required. The payment prices for the first hour fluctuate between 200 and 500 rubles, depending on which bicycle you choose. Rentals are always available until 10 p.m. In Sokolniki Park, which is generally regarded to be the safest for riding, 30% discounts are offered to pensioners and families with several children.http://bigtimemoscow.com/2015/05/26/moscow-cyclists-take-to-the-streets/

Great people watching, ice cream, cycling and tons of other activities. The park has unparalleled charm, especially after it has been recently renovated. This is a place to be on a nice warm spring/summer Saturday or Sunday.

Iceskating, riding with sledge, taking a ride at the Gorka or just drinking Glüwein, all is a perfect place to enjoy a winter day in this park. Rental equipment for cros country ski or ice skating all is very well organized .

It is one of the oldest parks in Moscow. Peter the Great set some of the lanes in the forest which he called "perspectiva", i.e. avenues. The famous US exhibit was held in Sokolniki in 1959 that hosted the Kitchen debate between Soviet and US leaders. Now it has a separate facility for fairs. Otherwise it is a big park for a nice walk. Conveniently located near the metro station under the same name.

Lovely green grounds, filled with lights at night. Loads of activities in the park itself, skating rink in winter and many other activities in the close vicinity, such as go-karting.

This park, which has been renovated recently is a wonder, a beautiful piece of green in town. Locals love this park, and the reason is easily understandable.
