Wiz Khalifa's Under The Influence Of Music Tour Returns: See Who's Joining Him
It's safe to assume that concertgoers and performers alike will be under the influence of a lot more than just music at this summer's Under the Influence of Music Tour. Even so, with the cast of characters set to perform, the music on its own should get fans pretty high.
Headlined by Wiz Khalifa , the tour will also feature Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign, Mack Wilds, Rich Homie Quan, Iamsu!, Sage the Gemini, and DJ Drama. With 22 dates that span from late July through late August, the show is hitting California, Wisconsin, New York and plenty in between.
This is the third straight year that Wiz has rolled out the Under the Influence of Music Tour. The first time around, he was joined by fellow Pittsburgh native Mac Miller , as well as Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q. Last summer, A$AP Rocky was in on the fun , with B.o.B and Joey Bada$$ also along for the ride.
This year's installment seems ripe for sprinkles of shared set time. Wiz Khalifa and ASAP Rocky are hitting the road together this summer for the Under the Influence of Music tour . As is the trend now in hip-hop, the two buds are taking a mini-roster of rappers with them for one dope lineup.
News of the Under the Influence of Music tour lineup hit appropriately on 4/20, the nation’s adopted weed holiday, with a mini-video that included the hashtag #its420somewhere. “I met Wiz at South by Southwest about a year ago,” ASAP told Spin in a recent interview. “The first thing the motherfucker did was give me a doobie and some gin. He made me drink all that shit — not cool. He said, ‘You got to drink this for the homies.’ We got fucked up. Every time after that he’s always got one rolled for the boy. He gave me a big fat one at Coachella last year.” Truly, the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

St. Vincent: KCRW Guest DJ Set
St. Vincent joins MBE live. Photo by Rommel Alcantara
Following the release of her eighth studio album, All Born Screaming , St. Vincent’s Annie Clark invites for a look under the hood at the musical engines that helped inspire her self-produced “post-plague pop album.”
Featuring a little help from her friends — including Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Dave Grohl, Mark Guiliana, Cate Le Bon, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Stella Mogzawa and David Ralicke — Screaming was forged from hours spent in a room experimenting with modular synthesis and old drum machines, making what she describes as “90% unlistenable” post-industrial dance music. The result, however, is highly-listenable, a primal, visceral exploration of life, death, love, and the complexities therein.
Clark joins host Novena Carmel for a Guest DJ set exploring All Born Screaming , pulling selections that reveal her love of ‘80s dub and ska, a deep respect for Tori Amos and her ability to “take you to heaven and hell and everywhere in between,” and what it was like collaborating with one of her best friends, Welsh musician/producer Cate LeBon, on the new album. She also talks about crowd surfing at Coachella, the challenges of self-producing vs. producing for other artists, and stepping away from persona-play to make a record that reflects “the sound of the inside of my head.”
