What you'll do
We pack a lot into two hours on this NYC walking tour of three of Manhattan’s most fascinating neighborhoods. We’ll start with SoHo, admiring the architecture of the Cast Iron Historic District and maybe even spotting celebrities often seen on its trendy streets.
From there, your guide whisks you off to Italy — Little Italy, that is — where you’ll soak up the sights and smells of this colorful corner of NYC. It’s not all pizza and stromboli here, though. You’ll also see former mob sites and hear all about the infamous mobster John Gotti.
Finally, stroll over to Chinatown, right next door yet a completely different cultural experience. Be dazzled by the variety of Chinese shops and signs on display as you learn about this immigrant community. Our tour ends in the former Five Points, now Columbus Park, infamous in the 19th century as one of the city’s most dangerous areas.
It’s just 2-3 miles of walking as your guide helps you navigate the streets of Manhattan so you see the best of Chinatown, Little Italy, and SoHo. Plus, our early afternoon start time keeps your morning and afternoon free for more sightseeing.

SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown Walking Tour
ExperienceFirst’s SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown Walking Tour is your ticket to exploring three of Lower Manhattan’s historic neighborhoods during one unforgettable afternoon. This popular guided walking tour runs daily at 1:00pm, departing from SoHo and covering two to three miles of prime New York City real estate. Along the way you’ll encounter unique architecture, scope out notable restaurants, and come face to face with colorful pieces of New York City history.
SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown Background Information
Despite their differences, the Lower Manhattan neighborhoods of SoHo, Little Italy , and Chinatown are forever linked by a shared history and, of course, geographic proximity. Broadly speaking, during the nineteenth century the area that comprises these three neighborhoods today was a hotbed of industrial activity, with numerous textile factories and mercantile companies operating here. At the advent of the twentieth century, significant numbers of immigrants from Italy and China moved to the United States and settled in the area. Their influences would forever reshape the neighborhoods that bear their names to this day.
Three decades into the twenty-first century, SoHo has become one of New York’s hottest shopping destinations and housing markets, Little Italy has shrunk in size, and the Chinatown of Lower Manhattan is just one of many such neighborhoods found throughout the city. Still, a trip through these three neighborhoods makes for an indelible part of any visitor’s time in the Big Apple.
What to See on the SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown Walking Tour
The SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown Walking Tour begins at Spring Street Park, near the corner of 6 th Avenue and Spring Street. From there you’ll move through the charming streets of trendy SoHo, admiring the allure of the neighborhood’s old-fashioned cobblestone streets (which are actually “setts,” but more frequently referred to as cobblestones). Special attention here will be paid to the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District, a remarkable stretch of New York City that features arguably the highest concentration of cast-iron architecture found anywhere in the world. If time allows, you might even have the chance to stop at the Dominique Ansel Bakery, home of the trademark hybrid donut-croissant pastry, the “cronut.”
Little Italy is next on your tour. Though it’s a prime example of a New York City neighborhood threatened by marked demographic changes and ever-increasing levels of gentrification, the area’s rich history makes for a fascinating part of your outing. Your guide will point out famous restaurants and sites where legendary movies were filmed as you learn about the Italian-American experience of the early twentieth century.
Last but not least comes Chinatown. Before your SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown Walking Tour concludes in Columbus Park, you’ll have the chance to sample some of the city’s finest food while learning about this remarkable corner of New York—prior to the area being transformed into the neighborhood we know and love today by immigrants from China and Asia, it was the infamous Five Points, a gritty, poverty-stricken nineteenth-century neighborhood forever immortalized by the Martin Scorsese film Gangs of New York .

Scott was informative, friendly and took us to some seriously delicious food places I'd never have found otherwise. Recommended!
This was such a fun experience!! We did a dessert tour w our pre-teen/teen kids and it was the highlight of our trip. They wouldn't stop talking about all the yummies for days. In fact, we went back to one of the places Scott showed us for seconds later in our trip. The fact that Scott was very knowledgable about the history and stories behind the food made it even better.
Amazing way to walk, learn, and eat your way through New York! A different tour for every tastebud! Don't miss out, book your food tour today! UFT also has awesome nyc gear, so make sure you get a collectors edition t shirt or canvas bag!
Dumpling Time!
What a fun day we had with Scott sampling Chinatown dishes. My sisters and I had a great tour with Scott (the owner). Age food was delicious and Scott was very informative and flexible. I highly recommend the Chinatown tour. It was so much fun.
I had the pleasure of taking the Jewish Food Tour with Ultimate Food Tours, and it was an amazing experience! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the jewish history of the neighborhood and took us to some of the best food spots. We tried everything from the best smoked slamon to the best black and white cookie, and everything was delicious! Can't wait to go for a 2nd round and explore a different part of the New York food scene!
I haven't tried them yet but I hear great things! the concept is awesome and the routes they do are perfect for NYC.
Fun experience! Great food!! Got to see some of the city while eating. Two birds one stone.
best food your around! check out their IG to see the fun details! a great way to take my kids to try new things!
I cannot rate this tour highly enough! Simply the best food tour I have ever been on. Scott is extremely knowledgeable, personable and funny. Not only was the food fantastic, his stories were super interesting as well. I live in New York and cannot wait to take this tour again! 100/100
The best food tour we've ever done! We chose to do a food tour in Chinatown so we knew what we were eating & avoid shellfish because of allergies! Not only did we ate at 4 of the best little hidden gems but Scott's knowledge on the area & its history is incredible. All the restaurants were so happy to see him and gave us a warm welcome. We went to places we would've never even thought of going in. Didn't get intimated by the menu in Chinese cause we had Scott who knew exactly what to order at each joint. And according to me, if you go to an international restaurant and most of the customers there are of that culture, to me, you've come to the right spot. Highly highly recommend this group! Also ver personal & funny.
