Standing at Concerts

Standing and Dancing at Concerts: DPAC is proud to welcome all types of concerts to our stage. Sometimes during the course of a concert performance, audience members will show their enthusiasm by standing and dancing, especially when encouraged by the performers to do so. Unless directed by the show, we do not ever enforce a must sit policy at concerts. For most concerts, this would not be acceptable to the performers on stage who often love it when the crowd is moved enough by the performance to stand. This is especially true for rock shows and for seats closest to the stage.

Please know that DPAC does not have a “no standing” policy and in most situations will allow guests to stand even if they block the view of the stage for other guests. If your view is ever blocked by a standing or dancing guest, please contact an usher and we’ll attempt to find alternative seating.

For many concert, comedy, and special events at DPAC, we offer added views of the stage with two big screens (size: 16’ x 9’) hung to the sides of the stage or above the stage. These big screens can add to the visual experience of our concert, comedy, and special events and give guests seated farther from the stage what we like to call “a tenth row view”. Approval to use these screens always rests with the visiting show and about half of all concert and comedy events do use these screens.

As Morpheus said in the 1999 classic “The Matrix,” “you take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” The concept of red pill vs. blue pill, challenging and questioning reality, and the overall look and feel of science fiction like The Matrix were the overarching themes of the latest “ RuPaul’s Drag Race ” “WERQ THE WORLD” Tour that kicked off in Atlantic City on Saturday Night.

The “largest drag show on earth” featured fan favorite contestants from past seasons including Asia O’Hara, Bosco, Daya Betty, Deja Skye, Jorgeous, and Lady Camden plus select Season 15 finalists. This year’s tour features a multimillion production and storyline line centering on O’Hara as the Neo in their version of the Matrix known as the Netwerq. Throughout the entire show, performed before a sold-out and highly glammed crowd at Tropicana Showroom, the stars appeared in pre-recorded videos either recreating scenes from “The Matrix” or lip-syncing songs on stage for dramatic effect.

Per RuPaul’s reputation as an entertainment mogul, the two-hour show was an extravaganza of pure drag power — an epic accompaniment for any fans of “Drag Race” (which recently wrapped its 15th American season). And while live tours under the “Drag Race” name have gone on for years, this installment exists with a new shade of defiance, soldiering on as politicians in Tennessee passed a law earlier this year to ban drag shows in certain public spaces, spurring protests and a federal judge to deem the law “unconstitutional.”

The first half of the show was a nonstop spectacle featuring each of the core cast serving as though their dystopian lives depended on it. Act one was punctuated by a dazzling medley featuring Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake,” performed by O’Hara, and Bosco lip-syncing to “Hero” by Mariah Carey before the entire cast launched into an explosive rendition of “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child, leading into intermission.

But this was no traditional intermission; WERQ THE WORLD never really takes a break. About fifteen minutes into the intermission, the audience erupted when O’Hara entered the crowd and started speaking to the audience. The “Drag Race” Season 10 star went full game show host and selected two audience members for a contest called “Red Pill or Blue Pill,” where they got the chance to perform a song with a cast member in a lip-sync competition.

The second act featured more memorable numbers, including Bosco in full android regalia performing to AFROJACK’s “Take Over Control” with an outfit reminiscent of Spider-Man villain Doctor Octopus.

Soon after, Mistress Isabelle Brooks’ final number saw the Season 15 performer dancing to Tina Arena’s “Chains,” while wearing, you guessed it, enormous chains.

The high-octane performed concluded with another full cast number ending with confetti, streamers, and a standing ovation from the dedicated and delighted crowd.

Missed out on the Atlantic City show? The “WERQ THE WORLD” Tour will visit over 100 cities in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and conclude in Mexico City on November 19.

I attended my first-ever RuPaul's Drag Race - Werq The World Tour, and it was a show like no other. As someone with little prior knowledge about drag, I went in with an open mind, only aware that drag artists from RuPaul's show would be performing. Little did I know that I was about to be blown away by a full-on production that left me mesmerized from start to finish.

The show's theme was set in a dystopian future, where the stars of RuPaul's Drag Race had to make a choice between the real world and the artificial world they had come to know. It was a captivating storyline that added depth and meaning to the already dazzling performances.

As the show began, the atmosphere inside the venue was electric. The audience, filled with RuPaul and drag fans, couldn't contain their excitement. There were plenty of funny moments and witty lines delivered by the performers, keeping the crowd entertained and engaged throughout.

The production featured big group numbers that showcased the collective talent and chemistry of the drag artists. Each performer also had their moment to shine, delivering individual numbers that were nothing short of spectacular. One highlight of the evening was a lip-sync contest that involved two local drag artists joining the stage, creating an extra layer of excitement and competition.

The stage design was impressive, featuring two levels and a projection screen at the back. The use of the projection screen for countdowns, videos, and background scenes added a dynamic visual element to the show.

Of course, the costumes were a true showstopper, as expected from a drag extravaganza. The performers truly looked fabulous, and their outfits reflected their unique personalities and styles.

In terms of talent, the cast was top-notch. From Rose's impressive live singing to Ginger Minj 's jaw-dropping drop splits, the performers showcased their remarkable skills and versatility.

The choreography was another standout aspect of the show. The synchronized movements, combined with the electrifying energy of the backup dancers, took the performances to a whole new level of excitement.

The production was a perfect blend of humor, talent, and creativity, providing a night of entertainment that I'll cherish forever. By the numbers: Statistics confirm Scottie Scheffler's historical dominance

Is impending fatherhood the only thing stopping Scottie Scheffler? Quite possibly.

His historic run continued Monday when he completed his victory at the RBC Heritage. It was his fourth win in his past five starts, a run that also included victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, THE PLAYERS Championship and the Masters. The only exception was a runner-up finish at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, where he missed a 6-footer to join Stephan Jaeger in a playoff.

Scottie Scheffler’s Round 4 highlights From RBC Heritage

Scheffler has seemed invincible lately, and the statistics confirm that. Here’s a closer look at some of the key stats that put Scheffler’s historic play into perspective:

• By winning at Harbour Town Golf Links, Scheffler became the first player since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to win the RBC Heritage one week after winning the Masters .
• Scheffler is the first player since Tiger Woods in 2006 to win the week after winning a major .
• With four wins and a runner-up in his past five starts, Scheffler is the first player since Woods in 2007-08 to have five consecutive top-two finishes . Vijay Singh is the only other player to have such a run in the past 30 years (2004).
• This was Scheffler’s 10th PGA TOUR victory, coming in just his 51st start since he earned his first win at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open. Only David Duval has needed fewer starts after his first win to reach victory No. 10. Duval did it in 33 starts. Tiger Woods is third on the list with 59 starts.
• In his 51 starts since the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, Scheffler also has 23 top-three finishes (45%) and 35 top-10s (68.6%).
• All 10 of Scheffler’s wins have come since the start of the 2021-22 season. He is the first player to win 10 (or more) times on the PGA TOUR in the span of three seasons since Dustin Johnson won 10 titles between 2015-16 and 2017-18.
• This is Scheffler’s fourth win of the season, matching his career-high from 2022. He is the fourth player with multiple four-win seasons since the start of 2000 , joining Woods (10), Singh, (3) and Phil Mickelson (2).
• Scheffler has now recorded 40 consecutive TOUR rounds at par or better , a streak that began in the final round of the 2023 TOUR Championship. He’s 12 back of Woods’ all-time TOUR mark of 52 straight rounds at par or better (set across 2000-01).
• In each of Scheffler’s last seven victories, eight or more of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking have been in the field . His most recent run of four wins in five starts has included two Signature Events (Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, RBC Heritage), THE PLAYERS and the Masters.
• Scheffler is averaging 5.38 birdies per round this season, on pace to set the all-time TOUR record for single-season birdie average (since the statistic was first tracked in 1980) . Woods set the current record (4.92) in 2020.
• In his 39 rounds this season, he has outperformed the field average 35 times . He’s been at least a shot better than the field 30 times, at least two shots better 26 times and at least three shots better 19 times.
• Scheffler leads the TOUR in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green by nearly a shot per round this season , after finishing atop the category by more than two-thirds of a stroke per round last season. No player had previously led the category by more than four-tenths of a stroke per round since Woods in 2009.

Moscow Sky Lights Up With Strange Glow After Explosion at Electrical Substation: Reports

N ew footage has emerged showing bright flashes lighting up the night sky in southern Moscow during the early morning hours of November 22.

Knewz.com has learned that there was an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of Russia's capital city followed by an alleged power outage in "several" homes.

Video snippets, shared on Russian news channels like ASTRA , captured a series of flashes that caused the sky to change color. Smoke could also be seen rising from a building.

Corroborating the video, several Russian Telegram accounts reported an explosion near the south of Moscow and a subsequent fire at the Lyublino electrical substation, southeast of central Moscow, per Newsweek .

The local authorities from the area have since confirmed that an explosion occurred in the village of Molokovo, but they reassured the public that all vital facilities were operating as normal.

Russian outlet MSK1.ru reported the blaze at the substation and noted “several” power outages.

The town of Lytkarino, located to the southeast of Moscow, was one of the affected areas, as reported by the independent outlet, Meduza .

Additional power failures were reported in the southern Domodedovo section of the city. However, electricity was later restored to these areas.

One local resident speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but additional sources are yet to support this theory.

Newsweek reported that messages on the ASTRA Telegram account run by independent Russian journalists showed residents near the substation panicking. One concerned Russian called it a "nightmare."

The incident follows an attack by Russia on a power station in southwestern Ukraine that left 2,000 people without electricity .

“ Russian forces launched a total of 38 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 drones during the later hours of November 17 and 18.

The Ukrainian Air Force Command reported that 29 of these drones were shot down [...].

One civilian was injured as a result of the attack that targeted energy infrastructure in the southwestern Odesa Oblast.”

The assault came after repeated warnings by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky that Russia would try to cripple its power grid as winter approaches.

Ukraine's leader warned that if Russia resorted to attacking its power utilities, it would respond in kind.

Ukraine has conducted numerous long-range aerial drone strikes on Moscow since May 2023.

Most recently on November 20, it was reported that one such incursion was intercepted close to the city, per Kyiv Post .

Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed this and elaborated that the region's air defense systems intercepted the unmanned craft over the city of Elektrostal to the east of Moscow, as well as another over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow.

The details of the recently surfaced video footage have yet to be independently verified.
