Christopher Andrew Moore, known better as Christy Moore is a songwriter, singer and guitarist who performs Irish folk music. His first album that you may know of is 'Paddy on the Road', which did very well for his first album. He was even named Ireland's greatest living musician in RTE's People of the Year Awards, which is quite an amazing name to have behind you. Moore was a part of the band 'Planxty', but after leaving in 1975 he decided to peruse his solo career. He did actually form the band 'Moving Hearts' as well prior to this with 6 other musicians. He hasn't had the smoothest of paths in his life, like many artists it involved heavy drinking, travelling on tour constantly, bad food and barely any sleep, which lead to his health deteriorating badly. But he didn't let this stop him, he sorted himself out and actually began to sing and write about the effects of alcohol and the hole that you can get sunk into from following that life style. I think he is a brilliant Irish folk singer and provides some fantastic songs that many people can connect with in one way or another. He can own a stage and keep a whole audience captivated, whether you're a fan of folk music or not he is worth listening to, he is a very talented man who has had a great career.

Christopher Andrew "Christy" Moore can boast the accolade of Ireland's greatest living musician (well, in the eyes of RTÉ's People of the Year Awards). A man with a political voice and intelligent wit who often lends himself to social commentary has been a staple appearance on the live circuit since his career began in the 70s. He prides himself on being musician of the people so therefore feels obliged to continue to play to the masses despite nearing his 70th birthday.

With a number of banned songs, you wonder what tonight's setlist will contain. Christy does a fine job in selecting his very best work from across a good array of all the albums in his discography to entertain the crowd gathered. It is a testament to his songwriting skills and playing abilities as he captivates the whole room for a set comprising of over twenty tracks. There are no tricks or production values tonight, just sincere music with a number of underlying messages. He thanks the crowd sincerely at the finale as they cheer and applaud in huge force for the celebrated musician.

What can I say?... Amazing! The venue, the music and the atmosphere, you couldn't find better. Christy was on top form and the whole evening was a delight. Always loved Christy's music and would thoroughly recommend a visit to the venue (Nell's Jazz & Blues), Christy obviously enjoyed playing there. A musician that never lets his fans down!

What more can be said about this man but LIVING LEGEND!

Christy Moore at Vicar Street: How to get there, stage times, tickets, and setlist

The Kildare singer is set to play an intimate gig in aid of homeless charity Focus Ireland at the famous Dublin venue on July 10

Christy Moore is set to play Vicar Street next week-with all proceeds going towards helping those affected by homelessness.

Legendary singer Christy , 78, has always supported charities that people experiencing homelessness and on Monday, July 10 he will perform at Vicar Street with all proceeds from the gig going to Focus Ireland . The charity was founded by Sr. Stan, and for the last 35 years Focus Ireland has helped support thousands affected by homelessness.

Christy Moore is originally from Newbridge in Co Kildare , and he's best known for hit songs 'Ride On', 'The Voyage' and 'Lisdoonvarna' and he's recently released a new song 'The Big Marquee.' Christy is also touring across much of Ireland this summer, as he celebrates over 40 years in the music business.

How to get to Vicar Street

There are plenty of public transport options available if you're heading to Christy Moore's gig at Vicar Street on Monday. Vicar Street is located on Thomas Street in The Liberties, Dublin 8.

The main Dublin Bus routes that can get you to Vicar Street include the 13 and the 123 where the venue is less than a minutes walk away.

The nearest Luas stop to the venue is The Four Courts and then a ten minute walk to Vicar Street.

Car parking

There are several car parks near Vicar Street on Thomas Street that you can park your car in on the night. These include;

• Thomas Street €6 for 2 hours with 178 spaces (5mins from Vicar Street)
• Christchurch multi-storey car park €9.20 for 2 hours with 213 spaces (13mins from Vicar Street)
• Four Courts carpark €7.40 for 2 hours with 385 spaces (7mins from Vicar Street)
• Smithfield Market €7.20 for 2 hours with 350 spaces (19mins from Vicar Street)

Tickets for Christy Moore's gig at Vicar Street on Monday, 10 July seem to be sold out after costing €50 per person and latest information suggests it is a 'House Full.' But resale tickets may also pop up on Ticketmaster between now and the night of the gig, so it's worth keeping an eye out by checking Ticketmaster.

Doors open and stage times

Doors open at 8pm on Monday 10 July for Christy Moore's gig at Vicar Street. It's expected that Christy himself could appear on stage at around 8:15pm.
