OVERALL A GREAT IMPROVEMENT FOR GOVERNMENT TRAVEL

The use of this app is overall very helpful. It needs work, though. The password issue is significant, especially you log in while in transit because you flight has been delayed or canceled, to find a prompt to update your password. This is the last thing anyone should have to deal with while in transit. If my connection has been canceled, please allow me the option to pick my alternate flight. Not just automatically re-route to nearest airport. This caused so many more issues. Last, just an opinion. Personnel on official travel are on uncle sam’s dime. Uncle Sam being the American tax payer. We’re always scrutinizing how to appropriately allocate every dime. But it’s absolutely ok to strand 20 active duty personnel in Chicago (for example). Lodging rate $218 a day. Per diem $75 a day, or combined $293 a person per day. That’s over $5800 a day being wasted. There has to be a way of coding personnel on official travel as priority. Oh, and as a closing statement, to benefit of the government. Maybe review airports and figure which ones have issues, like Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and avoid those airports as much as possible. To answer you question, Yes, I’ve been stuck in Chicago more than once for several hours. This most recent adventure, all of our connecting flights were canceled. Now stranded in Chicago for day 2.

Very helpful, except frequent auto log out

Overall the app is great and very helpful. The improvements are very noticeable. The links to the websites are very helpful. The airport maps are useful. The only issue I have with the app is how frequently it logs you out and then you have to go through the whole process of logging back in. When I need to access stuff quickly it’s annoying and doesn’t help when you have bags in your hands trying to juggle the phone and get logged in again just because you close the screen. A feature to add tickets to your digital wallet would be helpful for checking in.

Complete waste of time

I just spent 30 minutes logging in. 30 minutes! I have an account, but forgot the password. So I changed it using the process. It didn’t work. It said it took the new password, but the new password would not work. I believe I tried to change it to one of my past 10 passwords ( HELLO! I’m changing the password because I forgot it, so how am I supposed to know my last 10 passwords in order to choose something different?). It said the password was changed successfully, but it was not. When I finally tried something completely different, it worked right away. At which point I found out that my CWT account is actually under an old email, because the account says I have no travel. So I repeat the process for the old email address. After all this, the app just directs me to the airline’s web site to make a flight change. I needed to change airlines. Thanks for nothing CWTSato. I will be using the individual airline apps from here on out.

There are more than 250 airlines worldwide offering mobile check-in.

Based on your itinerary information, you should get a notification to your mobile phone once the online check-in for your flight is available. When you click to check in, the app connects you to your airline’s mobile website to complete the process.

Paperless boarding passes are available only for certain airlines and airports. For more information about paperless boarding pass programs, check with your country's governing agency - for example, TSA's website in the U.S

myCWT (formerly CWT To Go) app lets you easily drag and drop your flight information into the relevant fields of the online check-in website of your airline.

I'm having an issue checking in for my Air Canada flight

We are aware of an ongoing issue that some myCWT app users are having when accessing the pre-populated check-in feature for Air Canada within the app. myCWT pre-populates certain Air Canada fields during the check-in process and it has been identified that the issue resides in the three letter airport code; however, to ensure the Air Canada mobile website functions properly, you need to:

Delete the pre-populated code.

Use the drop down menu to choose the correct airport from the list.

Tap on another area of the screen which registers the change to continue the process.

R 271257Z SEP 22 MID200080258806U FM COMDT COGARD WASHINGTON DC TO ALCOAST BT UNCLAS ALCOAST 360/22 SSIC 7000 SUBJ: E-GOV TRAVEL SYSTEM (ETS) IMPLEMENTATION UPDATE FOUR A. ALCGFINANCE 035/22, GUIDANCE FOR TEMPORARY DUTY TRAVEL ORDERS CROSSING FISCAL YEARS B. ETQC ADVISORY, CHANGE TO C-SCHOOL ORDERS PROCESSING FOR REMAINDER OF FY22 1. This ALCOAST provides guidance for ETS use in preparation for FY23 and required actions for users and approvers. 2. Preparation for FY23: a. To better support the traveler, CWT Sato Travel will turn off the funds check function in ETS while funds are loaded into FSMS, between 01 October and 15 October 2022. ETS bulletins will provide updates on the funds check status. Travelers should obtain travel approvals using the normal routing process to ensure reservations are ticketed. Travel crossing into or originating in FY23 cannot be vouchered until the Office of Resource Management (CG-8) applies funds to the funding reference data (POET). During the remainder of FY22, travelers should not create any new ETS open authorizations (blanket orders) or group authorizations. b. Travel originating in FY23 travel should not be obligated until October 2022. When booking travel that crosses fiscal years, lodging and rental car reservations should be for the entire TDY period to avoid interruption. Lodging must be set to no reimbursement for the FY23 dates and later adjusted via an amendment, to reflect expenses in the correct fiscal year. REF (A) discusses airfare procurement. c. Open Authorizations (OA) from Direct Access: Members in receipt of PCS, Separation, or Reserve orders must check ETS for an OA to use for planning travel. Reserve members will see an OA for Active Duty for Training - Annual Training (ADT-AT) periods, however, contingency travel requires direct entry of a POET to create authorizations. REF (B) provides guidance on the transition from OAs to direct entry of a POET for reimbursement to attend C-schools. Similar guidance is forthcoming for A-school and Accession training travel. 3. Required actions for users: a. Travelers must use ETS to book official travel. To minimize travel costs and meet system goals for electronic booking, calls to CWT Sato Travel should be limited to complex travel needs such as international flights without contracted fares, urgent travel within 48 hours, and booking the Alaska Marine Highway System. b. Mission Critical (MC) status expires 30 September 2022, and any unpaid Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) balances will become past due at the end of October 2022. Cardholders are required to file a travel voucher within three (3) days of travel completion and should use split disbursement to pay the balance. Personnel with unreimbursed travel must notify AOs to take corrective action. c. Travelers should immediately notify the Funds Approver when travel is cancelled so unit funds managers can de-obligate the funds. Funds approvers or funds managers must manually de-obligate unused travel obligations for trips cancelled after ticketing. 4. Required actions for approvers: a. Approving Officials (AOs) and funds approvers are reminded of their responsibilities as Treasury Funds Certifying Officials. Funds approvers must ensure the POET is accurate and, where applicable, ensure documentation supporting the use of a POET belonging to another organization is uploaded. AOs should verify the form of payment, to wit: Traveler, Travel Charge Card, or Agency Billed, is properly selected and allowed by policy. Additionally, AOs should scrutinize the class of airfare selected and, before vouchering, account for any upward adjustment in costs to ensure the travel remained within policy. b. AOs should poll their members to identify authorizations or vouchers that do not have final approval or are no longer needed and delete unnecessary claims. Command Travel Managers should use available GTCC balance reports to encourage reconciliation before the end of the FY. 5. PCS travel claim guidance. Military personnel must continue to submit PCS travel claims using TPAX. Pay and Personnel Center (PPC) auditors will review the travel claim and send travelers an email directing them to perform actions in ETS and DA, if necessary, to process their reimbursement. The PPC website provides guides on the PCS travel claim process. 6. Travel assistance is available through the online help tool in ETS, guidance on the PPC website, and from the AO supporting the unit. The Travel Assist Team (TAT) remains a resource for AOs and is available through 24 April 2023. The ETS website remains the best resource for ETS-related news, training, and tips for processing travel. Users can access the website at: (Copy And Paste The URL Below into Browser)

CWTSatoTravel Leads the Way at NDTA GovTravels Conference

cwt sato travel check in

CWTSatoTravel was a platinum sponsor for this year’s NDTA GovTravels conference in Alexandria, VA. We had over 20 representatives on hand from our team to meet and network with government and military travelers as well as vendors from the travel industry. The three-day conference is always a great way for us to get to meet some of our travelers face-to-face and hear about the biggest issues facing them today. Over 1,100 people attended this year’s conference.

Our own Laura Kistler had the chance to moderate a lively panel focused on travel trends and innovations. This panel session was widely attended and included representatives from United, Uber, and Enterprise Mobility. Additionally, Rich Thompson, CWT’s Global Head of ESG and Employee Experience led an important academy session on the TMC’s Role in Sustainable Choices, Safety, Security, and Duty of Care.

CWTSatoTravel was awarded NDTA’s 2023 Outstanding Support to programs of The Association for Global Logistics and Transportation.

Our team also donated a $500 CWTSatoVacations gift card for a lucky raffle winner to enjoy. All raffle ticket proceeds went toward supporting the NDTA scholarship foundation.

We hope to see you back next year again in Alexandria!
