Goulding will release a new album

She announced the project in October 2022 with the release of the single Let It Die but pushed back the release of the album several times.

“Here we go again. Here are all the different versions of Higher Than Heaven available to order now from my official store,” she wrote in a previous social media post.
She continued: “As you know, making these products as green as possible is incredibly important to me so we’ve worked really hard to stick to that promise.
“As a result & due to delays in sourcing these products, we have to push back the release ever so slightly to April 7 just so we can get these beautiful products to you as soon as humanly possible. Thank you ever so much for your patience and I love you all.”

Ellie Goulding is a pop singer/songwriter born on the 30th of December 1986 and hailing from Lyonshall, Herefordshire, England. After topping the BBC’s Sound Of 2010 poll she became a major player in British pop music, enjoying hits on both sides of the Atlantic and all over the world.
By and large, it’s advisable not to listen when someone tells you that an artist is going to be the biggest name in music by the end of the year. They’re wrong in most cases whether they’re the BBC or your mate who saw them when their mates band opened for them, but from time to time, they can be right on the money. Of course, a lot of the time anyone can see that they’re going to be massive, and that’s exactly what happened with Ellie Goulding, the only confusing thing was how world-conqueringly huge she got in such a small period of time, but anyone who saw her perform or heard her songs could tell that she was destined for greatness.
You might have even been able to see it before she had even left secondary school. Goulding had always been musical, taking up the clarinet when she was nine and the guitar by the age of14, but when she was 15 she entered and won a singing contest with a composition of her own. She continued writing her own material while at university, and it was when she took part in a talent show while she was there that she was spotted by Jamie Lillywhite of First Turn Artists, a management team that she successfully auditioned for a couple of months later. Lillywhite became her manager and by July 2009, Goulding had signed to Polydor records.
Almost immediately she was running with the big leagues, a performance on Later… With Jools Holland rose her profile dramatically, as did a tour supporting Little Boots, but the start of 2010 saw the moment where Ellie Goulding became a star. The BBC Sound Of 2010 poll showcased the music industry’s top choices for the next big artists of the coming year. At that point, previous winners had been Adele, 50 Cent and Keane, so this obviously carries a little more weight than most, and in 2010, they gave it to Goulding.
Mere months after that she won the critics’ choice BRIT Award and after that, all bets were off. By the end of 2010 “Lights”, her debut album, had gone straight to number one, has since sold a million copies worldwide and the title track was a number two hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Live, she’s opened for everyone from the Dave Matthews Band to Katy Perry to U2 and her second album, “Halcyon”, saw her go even further, headlining arena concerts in her home country and working with everyone from Skrillex to Calvin Harris to Angel Haze. She’s at the top of her game, and will remain there for years to come, so what comes next is going to be truly spectacular.
Live reviews
Ellie Goulding is now a household name in both her UK homeland and the US thanks to the success of 'Lights'. Her live show is now a melange of cult favourites that propelled her to stardom such as 'Guns & Horses' with the commercial pop/production driven mega-hits such as 'Burn'.
Ellie tackles each track with the same form of intensity, from the opening reverberations of 'Don't Say A Word' she stands with determination centre-stage and delivers each note with proud intonation in that unique vocal style. 'Figure 8' is a highlighted moment as she forcefully beats her snare drum with aggressive force as the crowds cheer her on.
A tender cover of Active Child's 'Hanging On' chills the air in the venue as her pained vocal hits every single note on point. She winds down her main set with a plethora of hits which now include 'Anything Could Happen', 'Starry Eyed' and 'I Need Your Love', her collaboration with Calvin Harris.
'Lights' makes for a dramatic encore as from the intro the audience cheer and dance as Ellie launches into an extended version as the track breaks down into a piece of house/dance. It's no secret that Ellie's musical style has changed since breaking the States, yet her credibility and intent as a musician remains solid.

I'm finding it so hard to find words that perfectly describe last night's #deliriumworldtour concert. It was wonderfully balanced with a range of Ellie's more upbeat, EDM tracks and also her lighter, more relaxed numbers (including a handful of beautiful acoustic sounds). With the odd spot of conversation between songs proved how human and raw Ellie actually is (unlike some singers who do nothing to interact with their audience) and it really added to the intensity and uniqueness of the performance. The atmosphere created was very tense and enjoyable; it felt both exhilarating and relaxed depending on the song and mood. As an audience, I could see that everyone had really connected with the performance and performers-whenever Ellie was speaking, everyone was silent, listening intently to her. That bond that we had with her and the band was very special and singular. I could go on and on but I'll just end by saying by far, this is the best concert from Ellie that I have ever experienced. I really wish I could relive it again and again!
Tegan Steward
Ellie Goulding is one of the most talented, biggest artists to emerge from England these past few years. She has one of the most authentically and uniquely beautiful voices I have ever heard live, a rare gift for many famous singers these days, most of who are heavily manufactured. Better yet, because she writes her own songs, you can actually feel genuine emotion in her voice when she sings and it is clear that her songs have meaning. Indeed, Ellie performed a range of songs including some of her earlier tracks that are less well known, and it was these more obscure songs that often felt the most emotive and real. Nonetheless, hits such as ‘Burn’, ‘Anything Could Happen’, ‘I Need Your Love’ and ‘Lights’ were still all great to listen to and the crowd reaction for each was fantastic, creating a great party atmosphere as the crowd danced and sang along. ‘How Long Will You Love Me’ was a nice acoustic break and was performed beautifully, as was Fifty Shades of Grey hit ‘Love Me Like You Do’, which caused mass swaying.
Amazing...! Ellie was in fine form. Singing was bang on, dancing was in her own usual "don't give a f**k" style. Her dance team managed pauses for costume changes well and it didn't feel intrusive, as it sometimes can. Her set ranged from much loved classics such as burn, right through to an acoustic version of Devotion from her new album (which was far superior to the more "dance" oriented album version) and everything in between.
John Newman was the main support act, but felt a little out of sorts. Years and Years are supporting the US leg of the tour and I feel they would have been a better choice to support in Europe as well.
I am used to watching Ellie Goulding in small intimate gigs which are very personal and usually key to hearing her raspy and elegant tones. Slightly neverous if the O2 areana wouldn't give her the credit she deserved, I was completely blown away how amazingly she filled the whole stadium with sound while still having intimate moments on the slower Ballards. The intros/outfit change videos were perfectly edited and incredibly creative! Always been a fan but massive respect for this (super) woman now just proving how she can rock and fill any stadium. One of the best gigs I've seen at the 02 to date!
I saw Ellie Goulding back in 2011 at the House of Blues in Boston and it was one of the best shows I have ever been too. It was right before the the record Lights blew up stateside and you just knew she had what it takes to be big time.
Bag raiders were the opening act and it helped set the tone for an energetic and really fun evening. Ellie's voice is incredible live and the performances were so upbeat and energetic.
If you are looking for an incredibly talented singer but still want to move your groove, I would recommend seeing Ellie Goulding.
What an amazing experience! The production value was super high, opening with an ethereal video until Ellie Goulding herself appeared on the stage in smoke and color. If you like her music, you'll be blown away seeing her live. She's an even better vocalist than her albums suggest. She's also a great performer in general, even if she gets nervous talking to the audience. It was great to hear the stories behind the songs. The whole thing was just the greatest dance party. I'm still finding confetti from it weeks later!
The show was amazing! Including the opening by Bebe Rexha and Years & Years Ellie has an amazing voice. Too bad some people were inconsiderate, drunk, smoking weed and kept interrupting me and my friends from having fun. I got beer spilled on my foot, a pretty hard hit on the head and smoke all over me. I was being pushed and hit repeatedly the entire night by these people. I mean I would have expected this at the club. But at an Ellie Goulding Concert? I'm never going to the pit again. I just wanted to see Ellie.
The concert was amazing. Years and Years had opened up for Ellie, along with Bebe Rexha and it was well worth the wait. I would pay even more to go again. The GA pits were wonderful and I had a nice view the entire time, the ticket prices were also extremely well priced. Ellie Goulding is a amazing performer and there was not a dull moment in the show. I plan to attend many many more Ellie Goulding concerts thanks to Songkick.
I can't believe I could see Ellie Goulding with my eyes in front of me in that stage. It was a dream become true. Moreover, I loved the performances from John Newman and Olly Alexander. I hope many people being homeless have the opportunity to have a happy Christmas and someone who spend it with them. Ellie, I love ur voice and the talent u have to convey ur feelings to people. I hope I can see u again soon.

The record was initially due to arrive on February 3, 2023 and was the follow up to the singer-songwriter’s 2020 album ‘Brightest Blue’ . But Goulding delayed the release in January 2023 , writing on Twitter: “To my incredible fans – I’m sorry to announce that we’re delaying the release of Higher Than Heaven to March 24.”

Addressing the second delay, Goulding wrote on social media: “Here we go again. Here are all the different versions of Higher Than Heaven available to order now from my official store (link in bio).”

Sorcha Richardson: ‘Two years ago my entire band lived in Dublin. Not a single one of us live there now’
The songwriter, who has recently toured with villagers and collaborated with ellie goulding, moved to kerry on her return to ireland.

When Sorcha Richardson was about four, she sat behind the couch in her family’s house in Dalkey, Co Dublin, while an Ireland soccer match was on television, and on a Fisher Price tape deck recorded a full cassette of songs she had heard, and ones she had made up. This thing, which continued when her grandfather gave her his keyboard when she was about six or seven, was the birth of her creativity.
One of Ireland’s most intriguing songwriters, Richardson has two albums to her name: 2019′s First Prize Bravery, and 2022′s Smiling Like an Idiot. She is preparing for concerts this month at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, St Luke’s in Cork, as well as Dolan’s Warehouse in Limerick and the Róisín Dubh in Galway. Her creative intentions were obvious form an early age, but the path has been winding.
At the Other Voices festival in Dingle last year, Richardson and the actor Eve Hewson sat in the back room of Foxy John’s pub for Jim Carroll’s interview series, Banter. For those who didn’t know the connection, it felt like a curious pairing. Yet Hewson played a key role in Richardson’s musical progression. They are close friends, former schoolmates at the Dalkey School Project, and as children formed a band with a third friend, Adam Purcell (now a chef), called Ten Past Two, named for the time they got off school. To much laughter in Foxy John’s, they performed a song they had written as preteens, titled, with a seriousness only 10-year-old composers can muster, She Only Wants You for Your Money.

“We were so serious about the band,” says Richardson now. “There was an intensity and a loyalty to it. Even then I was like: we’re in a band, and we’re going to be in a band forever. We were 10. We made posters for gigs that didn’t exist. We had meetings twice a week, about our band name and whether we should change it. We never did anything, we didn’t record anything, we didn’t play anywhere, but we talked about it like we were proper full-time career musicians, which is kind of hilarious.”

Richardson is explaining this, along with her childhood obsession with Harriet the Spy, in a bar in Bushwick in Brooklyn in New York called Honey’s, which specialises in naturally crafted small batch meads fermented in barrels using wild yeast and foraged herbs. The inevitably obtuse cocktail menu’s intentions are somewhat lost on both of us. “Should I eat this?” asks Richardson, confused by a sprig of burning lavender balanced delicately on the rim of her cocktail glass. Nearby is the venue Elsewhere, where she’ll play that night as part of a tour of more than two dozen North American cities.
New York is a second home to her now. Richardson arrived here aged 18 in 2009, as a student at The New School with part-scholarship and part-funding, to embark upon a creative writing programme. New York was a bold choice for a teenager, but she knew a few others intending to study there, including her old bandmate Hewson, who ended up at NYU. Richardson was in a dorm on the edge of the East Village, the only Irish person she knew of in a building of about 800 students. “I thought I’d just try it for the year ... Within about a week of being here, I was like, I’m obviously not going home.”
She began playing open-mic nights. “I played Rockwood Music Hall, Cameo Gallery, Glasslands, The Bitter End, Pete’s Candy Store – at one point it felt like I had a residency there – The Knitting Factory, SOB’s ... One time I did a gig in The Delancey to my friend Dan and the bartender.”
[ Sorcha Richardson: ‘You learn the hard way that there’s validity in your own ideas’ ]
She considered journalism, but baulked when tasked with an on-street vox-pop in her first journalism class, and sat on a bench instead of interviewing strangers. She wrote what she describes as “barely fiction” stories about people she knew, and her life as an Irish person in the city. “Sometimes when you move away from home you notice things about your culture that you don’t before.” What became obvious was her drive to write songs. In the evenings, she would finish her classwork rapidly, and spend her time making demos. One day, while she was interning at Domino Records, the Irish musician Conor O’Brien of Villagers visited. Richardson, then a huge Villagers fan, drummed up the courage to say “Your music is great”. His life as a touring musician, something she longed for, felt distant.
She stayed in New York after college, playing gigs and writing songs. When she released the track Petrol Station in 2015, with money she had earned from a teaching gig, it garnered airplay on BBC Radio 1, and record labels called. But she had no team around her, and was struggling to strategise. In 2017, after eight years in New York, the lease was up on her apartment, her visa was ending, and although she was working with a Los Angeles label, the reality of forging a music career in New York was biting. When she was offered an east coast tour with a band she loved, she couldn’t afford to rent a car, thought about taking trains, but didn’t have the money for hotels either.
She moved back to Dublin, but was in denial about returning to Ireland. She left instruments and suitcases of clothes in friends’ apartments. She even left a goldfish with a friend, and talked about going to LA, where she spent months of her first year back in Ireland. “It was too difficult to say to myself that I was fully moving home. That felt like a bit of bitter pill to swallow,” she says. “If you move to New York at any age with a dollar and a dream, and you leave with no dollars and your dream is spinning, it just felt: Jesus, what did I spend my time doing? Now I look at it and I see that I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing; growing up, making friends, living your life, learning how to write songs, learning how to perform.”
The music scene in Dublin was a safety net. She made money from gigs and found a tribe of musicians. It’s somewhat ironic that being in Ireland means she can tour the US. “Now I have Irish management, an Irish label. [On] my last album, all the musicians are Irish, recorded in an Irish studio. I’m so, so glad I had to stay long enough for me to realise it was actually the best place for me to be.”
[ Sorcha Richardson: Smiling Like an Idiot — a superior second album in every way ]
Richardson’s music – tender, cinematic, atmospheric, with lyrical scenes unfolding on streets, in bars, at parties – has a night-time flavour. She writes songs that sometimes feel handed to the listener like small creatures needing protection. Occasionally they can initially even seem a little slight, until their fabric grows like vines, gripping and pulling. They also contain a remarkable intelligence for melody. Her latest release, Map of Manhattan, may be her finest song yet.
Richardson is a songwriter’s songwriter. One day, on a train to Dingle, she noticed a direct message on social media from Ellie Goulding. Initially thinking it was a fake account, she moved to report the message as spam, but checked the sender and noticed it had 14 million followers. Goulding was getting in touch about Richardson’s song, Shark Eyes, to tell her she loved it, and would like to cover it.
Goulding’s cover is robust and raw . Clearly enamoured of Richardson’s talent, Goulding asked if they could write together. “It was amazing writing with her,” says Richardson of the experience this year. They sat in a studio in London for two days, just the two of them and an electric guitar, and wrote a song for Goulding. “She’s a really good songwriter, really good, really great lyricist ... I was ready to go in and write a pop song, which is not what we did at all, which I thought was really cool. Who knows?” she says of that song’s future.
That early moment of fandom with Villagers has come full circle too. Last year Richardson was the special guest on Villagers’ European tour. And yet, like many artists, it became increasingly difficult for her to live in Dublin. Richardson is part of a wave of Dublin artists who have left the capital. She moved to west Kerry earlier this year. “I find it incredibly upsetting and frustrating,” says Richardson. “Two years ago my entire band lived in Dublin. Not a single one of us live in Dublin any more, and I’m the only person who still lives in Ireland.” It’s not that she doesn’t love west Kerry. She says it’s an amazing place to be; her two favourite views in the world are coming over the bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan as the famous skyline comes into view, and Slea Head.
“It doesn’t have to be that way,” she says of sky-high rents in Dublin and other Irish cities. “It’s a choice that people in government are making. We could have affordable rent if we decided to have affordable rent, and affordable housing ... It’s going to have an incredibly damaging effect on Irish arts and culture. It already is ... I moved home to Ireland and it kind of changed my life for the better ... I feel way more inspired in and by Ireland than I did in New York to a certain degree. But it doesn’t feel that the systems that we have are interested at all in fostering or supporting that. But they do like to march it out and say: ‘Come and see us for arts and culture’.”
Later that evening, on a calm Brooklyn night, Richardson works through her catalogue to sways and applause. The next day she and her band hit the road for the next city, bringing songs forged in New York, Dublin and Dingle, embraced in every place.
Sorcha Richardson plays the Róisín Dubh in Galway on November 25th, the National Concert Hall in Dublin on the 29th, Dolans Warehouse in Limerick on the 30th, and St Luke’s in Cork on December 8th
