Best Travel Websites for Finding Flight Deals

A close-up of an iphone screen showing the app icons for Google Flights, Scyscanner, Kayak, and Expedia.

Google Flights

A screenshot of the home page for Google Flights.

Google Flights is one of the overall best travel websites for flights to use when looking for cheap airfare.

However, I use this website more as a jumping-off point rather than the only tool to book the cheapest flights possible.

One of my favorite aspects about Google Flights is that it separates top-rated routes from the more unusual ones.

Also, Google Flights now has a price guarantee if their own price decreases after purchase, which can be pretty amazing.

Just note that this will only apply to those flights that have the ‘price guarantee badge’ next to them.

A screenshot of the home page for Skyscanner.

For years now, Skyscanner has topped the list of my go-to travel websites when looking for cheap flight deals.

It allows me to brainstorm an upcoming dream vacation easily by comparing graphs and calendars of prices.

If my travel schedule is flexible, I can even search for the cheapest month to fly to that destination.

One of Skyscanner’s better features is the option to search for flights without a destination.

The ‘explore everywhere’ option gives a list of countries in order, starting from the cheapest to fly to from your starting destination.

You can then click the box to get more details on the best fares for these flights.

Another nice feature is the ability to turn on notifications for when prices drop for a certain route. The interface is also very easy to use, which is always a plus.

If you want to keep it simple, you could honestly get away with just using Skyscanner and Google Maps to start planning a cheaper dream vacation today.

A screenshot of the home page for the Hopper website.

Hopper is a unique travel website that gives you deals only available on the platform.

You are also able to collect carrot cash that you can redeem on their site for even better deals.

Personally, I’ve found Hopper to be better in the United States than outside of it. Even with this limitation, flights in the United States can be expensive, so a deal is a deal.

When you first join the website or app, you’ll immediately get money off your first flight, so that alone makes it worth using at least once.

Skipplagged

A screenshot of the home page for Skipplagged.

Skipplagged is a unique resource that you can use on top of Google Flights and other travel sites.

If you do flight research for long enough, you’ll come across destinations that are cheaper to fly to if you have it as a layover instead of the final destination.

For example:

  • If you want to fly to Panama City in Panama, the flight might cost you $200 one-way from Antigua.
  • You can then look at a flight from Antigua to Medellin and see that the flight has a layover in Panama City and only costs $150.
  • That’s $50 in savings if you get off at your layover.

Skipplagged cuts out the middleman in this scenario and helps you easily find these types of cheap flights. That $150 Medellin flight will appear in your search results for Panama City, marked as a ‘Skiplagged rate.’ It’s a sneaky way to score cheap nonstop flights.

Check out our Skiplagged review for more information on how this travel booking site works .

Going (Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights)

A screenshot of the home page for Going (formerly Scott's Cheap Flights.)

Going (Scott’s Cheap Flights) is a newsletter and website that began in 2015 when a guy named Scott wanted to share flight deals with friends and family.

Today, Going (Scott’s Cheap Flights) is one of the top travel sites to find cheap flights around the world (don’t worry, you no longer need to know Scott personally to get on the email list).

Once you sign up, you can choose your home airport and any nearby airports and you’ll then start receiving monthly or bi-monthly deals directly to your email.

The Going (Scott’s Cheap Flights) newsletter list has a free version and a premium version.

The free version works great for those who don’t travel that often.

If you’re a regular traveler, however, I’d recommend getting the premium version since it’s not that expensive compared to how much you can save on flights.

Plus, you’ll not only receive their best flight deals but error fares as well (which are flights that an airline mistakenly lists as much cheaper than it’s worth.)

Secret Flying

A screenshot of the home page for Secret Flying.

Secret Flying is a company very similar to Going. On their site, they show you trending flight deals from all around the world.

These deals can have savings of up to 90%. There’s also a search bar in case you’re looking for something very specific.

Although I prefer Going over Secret Flying, it doesn’t hurt to have multiple options to check before you purchase a flight just in case you missed a great deal.

A screenshot of the home page for CheapOair.

CheapOair has been around since 2005 and is one of the earliest travel websites to offer great deals on flights.

They’ve since expanded their game to include certain travel packages, rental car bookings, and other activities.

They also have a rewards program called ClubMiles where every 1,000 points equal $5 of rewards for their site.

A screenshot of the home page for Momondo.

Momondo is another free tool that allows you to compare prices on flights and travel packages.

It used to be the main competitor to Skyscanner, but Skyscanner has since pulled ahead and is the app most travelers prefer these days.

With that said, Momondo can still be a good site to check to see if you can find a lower price for a flight.

It’s now also owned by Kayak, which makes sense when you see the different options that come up when you’re searching for travel deals.

Some of the best ways this site can help you save money are through its flexible dates tool & multi-city option.

The flexible dates tool is very easy to use for a quick glance at comparing prices and the multi-city option can help those long-term travelers plan their trips better.

Dollar Flight Club

A screenshot of the home page for Dollar Flight Club.

Dollar Flight Club is the most comparable to Scott’s Cheap Flights (or Going).

It has three different levels of membership. The free plan, premium, and premium plus.

Similar to Going, they send the best flight deals straight to your inbox so you don’t have to do any of the work. These deals can also be up to 90% off.

With the premium plans, you can also get discounts on other discount travel sites for airfare and online travel agencies that they work with, like Babbel and Jubel.

Best Travel Booking Sites for Hotels Deals

A woman wearing a white shirt and a blue skirt sits on a hotel bed and looks at her phone, with a suitcase beside her in the foreground.

Hotels.com is, in my opinion, the best website for booking hotels. Oftentimes, you’ll be able to find the best hotel deals here.

What makes this site so unique is its rewards program.

For each night you stay at a hotel, you’ll get a stamp. After collecting 10 stamps, you’ll get one night free (or the average price of your 10 stays), which can rack up a lot of savings.

A screenshot of the home page for Airbnb.

Airbnb has changed the accommodation game since its arrival.

The main perk of going through Airbnb compared to a hotel is that you get more of a feel of living in your destination. This is because people are renting out their homes to you.

It’s also very possible to find great deals with this website. The best way to get a deal with Airbnb is if you plan to stay for longer periods.

If you stay for a week or more, there are often weekly discounts that apply to your stay. If you plan to stay for one month or longer, the savings can be astronomical.

The owners will oftentimes give you a great deal if you message them directly, and it’s what makes slow travel so enjoyable.

Case in point–when our editor, Mimi, and her partner stayed at an Airbnb in Tahoe for a month, they were able to get it down to $3,000 total instead of the $7,000+ that was initially listed.

Owners will often appreciate a guaranteed long-term stay and will be open to lowering prices to secure that. And really, it never hurts to ask!

Hostelworld

A screenshot of the home page for Hostelworld.

Hostelworld is the king of finding the best hostels from around the world. This platform is amazing for those travelers out there who are on a budget, particularly solo travelers.

The reviews are very important on this website because you don’t want to get stuck in a party hostel when you’re trying to sleep, so just do your research and you’ll be fine.

There are all kinds of hostels, but the one thing hostels all have in common is that they’re usually a fraction of the price of a hotel.

And, if you don’t like the idea of sharing a dorm, some still offer cheap private rooms.

Hostels can also be a great way to meet other travelers, especially if you’re traveling solo but even if you’re traveling with a friend or two.

Be sure to look for the ones with a free breakfast!

Booking.com

A screenshot of the home page for Booking.com.

Booking.com is one of the best travel websites for booking accommodations because of how many options it gives you.

You can find hotels and hostels on the website, although it focuses more on hotel stays.

Another huge perk of it being one of the biggest travel sites is the number of reviews.

Reviews are huge when it comes to choosing which accommodation you want. Since Booking is such a popular site, there are usually a lot of reviews to read through for each property.

Booking.com also just started offering its own reward program.

Everyone starts out at Genius Level 1 and can find 10% discounts on select accommodation deals.

Genius Level 2 unlocks after you stay at five places within two years, and it gives you 15% off!

The best deals come when you unlock Genius Level 3.

Once you’ve stayed at 15 places, you can start enjoying 20% off on properties and even start getting rewards for each stay. You can then use the rewards balance to book other properties.

Although I love Hotels.com, it’s hard to ignore how strong of a contender Booking.com is as one of the best hotel deal sites, especially with its loyalty program.

HotelTonight

A screenshot of the home page for HotelTonight.

HotelTonight is great for those travelers who like to save and also don’t enjoy booking accommodation far in advance.

This company specializes in last-minute deals. If you’re more of an off-the-cuff traveler who likes to decide where you’ll be staying for the night only once you arrive, this is the perfect website and app.

It allows you to still save some money on accommodation when booking things last-minute, which can be hard to come by in the hotel industry.

A screenshot of the home page for Kayak.

Kayak is a large search engine for everything travel-related. This site is easy to use and has some great tools to compare prices to get the cheapest possible rental car or hotel.

One of the best features of Kayak is its ‘Pricebreaker’ option.

Once you turn on this option, you can get up to 50% off top hotels, but you won’t know which one until after the booking is complete.

It’s a bit of Russian Roulette, but if you’re flexible, you can get some great savings from it.

A screenshot of the home page for Hotwire.

Hotwire is on this list of travel deals because of its exclusive deals for hotels that it gives to its customers.

The way this system works is that hotels often have unsold rooms so they sell them at a super-discounted price.

The only downside to this is that you don’t get to see the hotel name until after booking. However, you’re still able to see reviews, amenities, and the area where the hotel is.

A screenshot of the home page for Agoda.com.

Agoda is another great tool to use when looking for hotel deals. You can use it all over the world, but it’s especially great for properties located in Asia.

Agoda also has a nice feature for recommending other hotel ideas if your travel dates are flexible. This is how to find the best deals.

Super (Formerly SnapTravel)

A screenshot of the home page for Super.

Super (what used to be SnapTravel) is more than a travel company these days. Not only can you save up to 50% on hotels, but they also have a shopping section.

Their shopping section is where you’ll find different deals on items you can purchase. These items include everything from apparel to furniture, health and beauty products, electronics, and beyond.

Super now also has its own credit card, which gives you up to 10% cash back when booking things on the website.

Best Websites for Tour and Travel Agency Deals

A bird's eye view of a pair of hands holding a credit card and typing on a laptop, with an open suitcase, wallet, and plane tickets strewn around.

GetYourGuide

A screenshot of the home page for GetYourGuide.

GetYourGuide is a great tour operator to use for finding guides with lots of reviews. It’s very popular in places like the United States and Europe.

With thousands of reviews on popular activities, great photos, and an easy-to-use interface, GetYourGuide is one of the best tour booking sites.

If you use the app or sign up with your email, you can enjoy up to 10% off on bookings.

Although I’ve found the quality of their tours to be hit or miss sometimes (which is why the reviews are important to look at!), they offer a lot of dirt-cheap tours.

I usually find their tours to be cheaper and to attract a younger clientele than their main competitor, Viator.

Also, for Viator tours, I’m usually always with other Americans, whereas for GetYourGuide it’s usually a mix of Americans, Europeans, and Australians.

GetYourGuide is one of the best vacation booking sites for solo travelers to book tours on, since it helps you get out and easily meet people while doing a fun activity.

Costco Travel

A screenshot of the home page for Costco Travel.

Costco Travel is owned by one of my favorite stores for discounts and deals, Cosco Wholesale.

Costco Travel finds some of the best travel deals around and only gives them to their members.

When purchasing through Costco Travel, you know that the quality will be as top-notch as their stores because everything is hand-picked by their skilled travel buyers.

Costco members also receive an annual 2% reward on all Costco Travel purchases.

A screenshot of the home page for Viator.

Viator is an extremely popular tour company owned by Tripadvisor. This means you know you’re getting a good product with many reviews to back it up.

On their website, you can search for a place or activity to help find what you’re looking for, or you can scroll down to see their most popular tours.

When you download the app, you can also get exclusive promo codes and deals.

Viator has a wide range of cheap to more expensive tours and usually attracts an older, mostly American clientele.

The quality of most of their tours is top-notch, and their depth of tour options for most destinations is unbeatable.

My Other Favorite Travel Deal Websites

A young woman in a white t-shirt sits cross-legged on a couch in front of a window, with a laptop in her lap, a credit card in her hand, and an open suitcase beside her.

Expedia is one of the largest travel companies in the world and one of the best vacation deal websites.

The Expedia group owns the companies of Orbitz, Hotels.com, Hotwire, Travelocity, Trivago, VRBO, and more.

Because of this, Expedia is an all-in-one travel agent that allows you to book discounted travel packages.

On the website, you’re able to purchase many things related to travel, like cruises, flights, hotels, resorts, tours, and even car rentals.

The search engine for rental car bookings is comparable to travel websites like Kayak.

These bundles can save you a lot of money as well as being part of their rewards program.

Tripadvisor

A screenshot of the home page for Tripadvisor.

Tripadvisor is one of the best-known and overall best websites for travel.

There’s a reason store owners want that green logo on their front window. It means something.

With thousands of reviews on activities and restaurants, you can simply book whole vacation packages here or find a cruise line.

No travel deal or vacation package is a good deal if the experience is bad.

What makes Tripadvisor a great travel deal site is the millions of reviews on all things travel. You’ll know if an experience is likely to be worth the money when you’re using this site.

Travelocity

A screenshot of the home page for Travelocity.

Travelocity is comparable to other sites like Expedia, but it won’t have as many cheap vacation packages as those other sites.

However, that doesn’t mean you can’t find good deals. It’s still one of the best vacation booking sites on the market these days.

In fact, you can sometimes find better deals to save money than sites like Expedia because Travelocity isn’t connected with other large travel agencies and their vacation package deals.

Plus, if you use their app, you can earn up to 15% off on certain vacation packages.

Daily Drop

Daily Drop is one of the fastest-growing newsletters in the travel space. This daily newsletter is all about travel tips and hacks to find the best travel deals around the world.

These deals range from hotels to flights to cruises and use various tactics, such as credit card points and hotel loyalty programs.

This isn’t the place to find easy and quick last-minute deals; rather, it’s more where you can learn how to become a top-notch travel hacker to always save on future travel.

A screenshot of the home page for Homestay.

Homestay is a great way to meet locals and stay in their homes. This will still cost money, but a lot of times, it can be cheaper than staying in a hotel.

Depending on the host, they might even make meals for you as well.

A screenshot of the home page for Workaway.

Workaway is one of the largest volunteer sites for travelers on the web.

On the site, you can apply for different jobs, such as working on a farm, greeting guests at hostels, or bartending. In return, the host will let you stay at their place for free.

They sometimes also include other amenities such as free tours and meals.

Trusted Housesitters

A screenshot of the home page for Trusted Housesitters.

Trusted Housesitters is one of my favorite travel sites on the internet. If you’re a slow traveler or just want to take a week off, this is a great tool.

Most homeowners on this site want you to watch their pets while on vacation. In return, you can stay at their house for free!

You can filter it to have certain pets, no pets, and even a free car to use! Trusted Housesitters is the best website I’ve found to help you travel for as long as possible for cheap.

Discover Cars

A screenshot of the home page for Discover Cars.

Discover Cars is one of the best websites for car rentals on the web today.

This site looks at over 500+ rental car companies from around the world to help give you the best deal on rental cars.

Simply type in your pick-up location and dates and they will show you all of the best options for a car rental to keep you saving money.

If you’re looking for a rental car for your next trip, Discover Cars needs to be on your list.

Couchsurfing

A screenshot of the home page for Couchsurfing.

Couchsurfing is a very cool concept in which people from all around the world lend out their bed or couch to a stranger for free.

This is a fantastic way to meet the locals and for those hosting, it’s a great way to meet foreigners.

Couchsurfing has changed a lot over the years. It used to be 100% free but now costs around $15/year.

This is still an extremely great deal considering how much money you can save on accommodation.

Rome2Rio

A screenshot of the home page for Rome2Rio.

Rome2Rio is one of the best travel sites you can add to your arsenal. Choose any two locations, and it will show you all the different options for how to get from point A to B.

I used it a ton in South America for travel tips on how to find the cheapest ways to get around.

For instance, when looking for the best routes from Quito to Baños in Ecuador, I clicked the bus option and instantly found the cheapest company to book a ticket from.

Tip : It’s often cheaper to book with the company directly than going through a third party.

A screenshot of the home page for Travel Zoo.

Travel Zoo is another large search engine that helps you find the best deals from across the world.

A useful feature of this site is its “Last-Minute Deals” section. Here you can find the best travel deals, cruises, hotels, flights, and more!

A screenshot of the home page for Priceline.

Priceline is another one of the best sites to find travel deals this year.

It was founded in 1997 and still has the same goal now as it did back then: to help you save money when trip planning.

On the site, you’re able to search for hotels/flights and then bundle these together with other things like a rental car to save even more money.

Priceline also has a VIP membership program that can save you up to 50% on hotels, 20% on car rentals, and a 10% coupon for express deals after every purchase.

Another feature that many people might not be aware of is Priceline’s express deals. You can save up to 70% on hotels but you won’t know which one until after booking.

A screenshot of the home page for Orbitz.

Orbitz hit the scene in 2001 to compete against the fast-growing companies of Expedia and Travelocity, and it’s one of the best travel package sites.

On the Orbitz site, you can search for any type of travel package you’re interested in as well as look at the day’s top deals. If you’re a member, then the prices get even better.

As a member, you can get instant hotel savings of up to 10% once you sign up.

They also have something called Orbucks, where you can get reimbursed up to $50 a day on travel expenses, making your vacation package even more affordable.

Cruisewatch

A screenshot of the home page for Cruisewatch.

Cruisewatch is a website that you should definitely bookmark if you love going on cruises.

This is one of the best websites to use to find great deals on cruises.

You can sign up for Cruisewatch and then let them do all the work for you by sending you any price drops you might be interested in.

Plus, if you book a cruise by destination, you can save up to 71%.

Their search engine also allows you to find that perfect cruise, or it can find you many options to choose from if you don’t care about the dates or cruise line.

Keep an eye on prices, as their price prediction has an 80% accuracy rate.

Bonus Travel Deal Sites

  • Travel Pirates : This is a team of travel deal hunters that give you insane prices for flights, hotels, tours, and all-inclusive vacation packages. It helps if you’re flexible with your travel dates.
  • Holidu : If you’re looking for vacation rental homes, this is one of the best websites on the market with up to 55% in savings.
  • Airfare Watchdog : This is a great website for getting notifications for cheap airfare and its feature “the weekender” helps those looking for a quick getaway.
  • Dayuse Hotels : If you’re a digital nomad looking to use a hotel room just for the day to get some work done, this is a great site to find cheaper options. It’s also ideal for anyone who wants a place to crash for the day after a long haul flight.
  • Hotels By Day : This is another hourly hotel website that can help save you money, up to 70% off.
  • The Flight Deal : This is another tool to add to your list of travel websites. It’s essentially a blog that highlights hot deals on airfare, travel credit cards, and more. Check back every day for the latest in best travel deals right now.

FAQs About Travel Deal Sites

A woman in an orange sweater hold her phone in one hand and her open passport in the other, with a notebook, map, coffeecup and camera spread out on the desk in front of her.

What is the best website to find vacation deals?

The overall best vacation websites to find travel package deals would be Kayak or Expedia .

There are other sites that sometimes have better fares for airline tickets and hotels or have a better rewards program, but Kayak and Expedia do everything all in one place.

These two best vacation deal sites are great for trip planning because you can do a price comparison before you book vacation packages.

Where is the best place to find last-minute deals?

The best place to find last-minute travel deals would have to be Hotwire .

This is because their hotel deals are almost always going to be the best price you can find.

Some people might not like waiting until the last minute, but it’s sometimes necessary to find the lowest prices.

What is the most used travel deal website?

The most used travel deal website is Booking.com .

It currently ranks 1st, right above TripAdvisor. This is due to the fact that Booking.com normally has the most accommodation options out of any website.

How do I book the best travel deals?

When planning a trip, many people like booking their flight (especially international flights) for a specific date. The same goes for hotels.

However, if you want the best travel deals, then you need to be flexible .

Being flexible on hotel dates and flights is huge. Prices will rise and fall depending on when and where you go.

Traveling in the low or even shoulder season is generally cheaper than going in the high season. And the experience can sometimes be even better with fewer crowds!

Another tip for getting the best travel deals is something called The Greek Island Trick .

This is where you purchase the cheapest possible ticket to the continent of the country you’re going to.

Once there, you can then find another cheap mode of transportation to your final location.

This works especially well in Europe or Asia, where you can find ultra-cheap regional flights, buses, and trains.

It doesn’t work quite so well in the US with how expensive our flights, trains, and overall transportation is here.

This mode of travel usually takes more time, but the cost savings will be worth it for some.

Is it cheaper to book vacations through a travel agent?

In this day in age, you usually don’t get cheaper vacations when booking through a travel agent.

It can be far more convenient to travel this way, but you’re paying extra money to have someone do the work for you.

Are travel deals worth it? Is it actually cheaper to book through these travel deal sites?

Travel deals are totally worth it if you’re looking to make your money last as long as possible and are capable of being a flexible traveler.

The top websites we’ve mentioned above can save you money, and lots of it.

The pros of good travel deal sites are simple. They can find you the best vacation packages for cheap and most likely will do the majority of the work for you.

The cons of travel deal sites stem from them being 3rd party retailers. You may lose out on perks like free cancellation and free breakfast.

This means if something goes wrong with your booking, there’s a possibility you’ll have trouble getting it sorted out or your money back.

This is the subject of many of the negative reviews for these types of sites, so it’s important to always read the fine print and have good travel insurance.

How far ahead should you book a flight? What’s the Goldilocks window?

The Goldilocks window varies depending on whether you’re booking for peak or off-peak season. For domestic flights in peak season, you should book between three and seven months in advance. Off-peak, that range goes down to between one and three months.

If you’re booking international flights in peak season, this timeframe should be increased to between four and ten months in advance. The best time for off-peak international travel booking is between two and eight months.

The Goldilocks window refers to the timeframe above. If you buy flights too far in advance or wait until the last minute, then you run the risk of missing out on a cheap flight.

Do flight prices go down on Tuesdays?

In the early days of the internet, airlines would release new flights on Tuesday nights.

They did this manually because the technology wasn’t as good as it is today. This is where the rumor started about Tuesdays being the best day to purchase plane tickets.

Now, these same flight routes are updated constantly every day based on algorithms.

My suggestion would be to frequently look at Google Flights in incognito mode, so you know you’re getting the best price.

Why are some websites cheaper for flights?

Some of the best sites are also partner sites with airlines. Other times these websites can buy up flights when they’re cheaper than they currently are to offer users a better deal.

Best websites to save on airfare

Best websites to save on airfare

Keeping up with airfare prices has gotten easier thanks to sites like Google Flights and Kayak . To use them, just type in your home and destination airport, pick the flights that work best for you and then set an alert to track the price. For example, Google Flights will send you an e-mail showing if your tracked flight went up or down in price. Both sites also let you see which days are cheaper to fly in that month. Once your flight is booked, you’ll want to keep tabs on gate changes, layover information and more. FlightStats.com can help you plan a smooth trip by advising you on the best time of day to fly from a specific airport and which terminals to avoid when connecting flights. You can also view live updates of flight delays and sign up for free e-mail and phone alerts. Flightaware.com also tracks and predicts flight delays.

If you’re delayed by weather or some unforeseen event, it pays to act quickly. The TripIt Pro smartphone app ($49/year) will send you alerts about cancellations, delays or gate changes, sometimes even ahead of an airline announcement. Use it to locate alternate flights, find out when better seats are available, get fare refund notifications, track your rewards program points, and more.

Hotels.com lets you search just one site for accommodations at hundreds of thousands of properties. Plus, its rewards program is simple: For every ten nights you spend at any combination of the program’s 500,000 member properties, you’ll earn a free night’s stay. As a member, you also unlock an average discount of 15% on select hotels. Similarly, HotelTonight is an app that lets users book hotels at low last-minute rates. Priceline Express Deals helps you find the best bargains, but there’s a catch. Priceline doesn’t tell you which hotel you’re booking until after you pay.

And try TripAdvisor.com for a detailed list of rated hotels (and excursions) that are close to your destination. The site links you to partner sites, such as Expedia and Travelocity for fulfillment. Click on the "check rates" button and select the site or sites you’d like to try — a new window with results will open for each partner.

Hotwire often offers the best-published deals on cars by collecting rates from its eight rental car company partners, including Alamo, Enterprise and Hertz. The site also offers "hot rates" from rental companies that aren't identified until after you’ve paid.

And while Hotwire does offer some good prepaid rental car deals, in certain international cities for the best overseas auto deals you should check out AutoEurope . It offers rentals at more than 20,000 locations worldwide, and customer service is available 24/7.

AutoSlash is also a good site to find rental deals, as it will apply the best coupons and discount codes to your rental and re-book your reservation if the system finds a better deal.

Where I Find the Best Travel Deals

Surfing the web for travel deals

Finding the best travel deals is a matter of timing.

A lot of people think travel is just expensive, but in reality, there are incredible deals happening all the time. The often don’t last too long, and you have to act quickly. That can sometimes be a problem when a deal requires jumping on a plane tomorrow (how many people can do that?).

Fortunately, most deals are for months in the future, giving you ample time to plan your schedule.

Often I will book a flight and then figure out my plans.

Since you can usually cancel a flight within 24 hours without incurring a fee, I lock in the deal and then figure out if I can make it work. Sometimes I can (like the $1,200 USD business-class flight from LA to Stockholm round-trip); sometimes I can’t (like the $400 USD New Zealand flights I had to cancel).

I am always looking out for deals.

Today, I want to tell you where I go for travel deals, tips, and expert advice. After all, these resources focus solely on this one aspect of travel, so why not use them? I can’t know everything, so I rely on specialists. If travel were a hospital, I would be your general practitioner.

Here’s a quick look at the top companies I use and suggest:

If you’re simply looking to book a flight, check out the search engines below. It’s important to remember that there is no one best online booking website. All the search engine websites have blind spots so it’s important to search a few different places before you book your flight. Generally, the BEST booking sites are the following:

  • Skyscanner – Skyscanner is a very intuitive platform that lets you search for an open-ended trip. If you’re not 100% sure where you want to go (or when) then start your search with Skyscanner.
  • Google Flights – A good all-around flight search website to include in your cheap flight arsenal.

I always start my searches with Skyscanner . They search booking websites and airlines all around the world to ensure that no deal is missed. They cast the widest net and constantly are vetting the sites they search. Start with them!

Search for your vacation package by defining the destination, departure airport, and trip duration. Pros and Cons of Expedia

  • One Key Rewards Program
  • Book your vacation package, rental car, and excursions all in 1 place
  • Change and cancellation policies differ for individual hotels and airlines; check your small print before booking
  • You might miss out on room upgrades by not booking directly

Priceline

Hotel location is often one of the most important factors when booking a vacation, and Priceline has a great map   to see where the accommodation is located, as well as a pop-up telling you the hotel star rating, price, and customer rating for quick browsing.

If hotel inventory is low for a particular property, Priceline displays when there is 1 room remaining , to ensure you don’t miss out. You can stick with the lead-in package price if you’re happy with the room type and flight times, or you can customize your package with changes/additions (usually at a cost).

Priceline has Express Deals on hotels with up to 60% off for flexible travelers . These opaque deals don’t display the hotel brand until after you book, but you will know the star rating, guest rating, and the general area of the hotel.

Pros and Cons of Priceline

  • Detailed map view for hotels
  • Express Deals with up to 60% off accommodation
  • No rewards program

Travelocity is another site where you can book everything together, or add-on elements, such as excursions, after you’ve booked. Travelocity searches over 400 airlines and 1 million properties worldwide to display the best deals for your vacation.

It’s quick and easy to register for a Travelocity account , and doing so will unlock an extra 10% off selected hotels . If you find a hotel, flight, cruise, or car rental at a lower price elsewhere, Travelocity will refund you the difference with its price match guarantee . This is up to 24 hours after you’ve booked for most travel components — for hotels, the price match is right up to the day before you’re due to arrive.

Pros and Cons of Travelocity

  • Book everything in 1 place
  • An extra 10% off hotels for Travelocity members
  • Price match guarantee
  • No loyalty program

Although you can search for deals departing on specific dates with Travelzoo, it pays to be flexible and let the deal dictate your dates. Head over to the Top 20 Deals page that changes weekly to reflect the very best offers tested and verified by the Travelzoo team.

Pros and Cons of Travelzoo

  • Exclusive offers negotiated specifically for Travelzoo members
  • Fully refundable deals available
  • Limited-time offers and often only a set number available at the special deal price

Best for Last-Minute Flight Deals

Kayak home page

Kayak is a metasearch engine, finding and returning flights that match your search criteria, without actually booking with Kayak. Filter by direct flights only, carry-on or checked luggage, take-off or landing times, airline alliances, and much more.

Sign-up for Kayak Price Alerts to receive email notifications when prices change based on your search criteria.

Pros and Cons of Kayak

  • Lots of filters to refine your search
  • Booking direct with an airline so any frequent flyer points can be earned
  • No loyalty program since bookings are not with Kayak

CheapOair

CheapOair is an online travel agent with bookings made directly with CheapOair. When searching for a flight, the results page tells you if a price is valid on a limited number of tickets to ensure you don’t miss out on that price.

The CheapOair rewards program gives members up to 20% off flights and up to 55% off hotels . For signing up, members receive 500 points and a further 500 points for their first booking. After you’ve booked once or spent $1,000, you’ll move to the Silver tier, where members earn 1 point per $1 spent. Gold and Platinum tiers provide higher point earnings. 1 point = 0.5 cents, so 200 points would be required to redeem $1 in travel credit.

Pros and Cons of CheapOair

  • Rewards program with member discounts and reward point earnings
  • CheapOair credit card available with 7 points earned per $1 spent
  • Charges a booking fee (although occasionally has money-off promo codes for the fee)

If you’re flexible on dates and destinations, you’re in for a treat, but you can also bag a bargain on a set destination. Download the Secret Flying app and receive notifications with flight deals to your chosen city, country, or region.

Pros and Cons of Secret Flying

  • Cheap airline error fares are often honored by the airlines
  • Push notifications with flights matching your criteria
  • Deals aren’t as helpful for travelers inflexible with destination or travel dates

Google Flights

Google Flights has a clean, simple interface and some handy tools to find cheap flight deals. If you’re flexible on destination and are just interested in the best deal, you can input your departure airport and use the map view to view prices around the world .

If you know your destination but are flexible on the date you travel, take a look at Google’s price graph that displays the cheapest and most expensive days to fly .

Google Flights Price Graph

Pros and Cons of Google Flights

  • Bookings are directed to the airline, so you can earn loyalty program points
  • Price graphs to identify the cheapest travel dates
  • Doesn’t always display the cheapest flights that might be available with a small online travel agent
  • Occasionally displays a price that no longer exists

Hot Tip:  Check out our dedicated guide on how to use Google Flights to find cheap flight deals.

Pros and Cons of AirfareWatchdog

  • Real people search and flag the best flight deals
  • Price alerts that help you decide the best time to book

Pros and Cons of Hotels.com

  • Secret prices for email subscribers
  • One Key rewards program

Tripadvisor

Alerts tell you if the price is a certain percentage lower than usual , so you’ll know whether you’re getting a good deal. As bookings are not made with Tripadvisor, your search results will tell you which website the deal is available with and displays comparison pricing against alternative websites.

Best Discount Travel Sites for Deals: Traveler's Guide! [2024]

Best Discount Travel Sites for Deals: Traveler's Guide! [2024]

Traveling is expensive, but it doesn't have to be. Travel deal sites can be nice, but which one should you use? Here's my detailed guide for you to find the best deals based on your travel style.

good travel deal sites

Traveling is something you and I probably share the love of. It's such an amazing experience being able to see the world and broaden your perspective on the world.

While traveling is something we all wish we were doing more often, it's often very costly.

Flights across the Pacific or Atlantic often start at 1000 dollars and are slowly increasing year after year.

That's where great travel deals come in! These deals help you plan travel cheaply while allowing you to have just as much fun.

After all, the money you saved from travel deals can go into eating more local dishes or participating in tours of museums and landmarks.

However, as the internet becomes more and more accessible, more and more of these travel discount sites are popping up, each with similar offerings.

How does one know which sites are the best for travel deals? It can get overwhelming. I know it was for me when I first began this journey of travel deal sourcing.

Whether you're looking for flights, hotels, travel packages, or anything in between, there's a site for you.

In order to understand a little bit more about what most of these travel deal websites offer, let's break it down into categories to find the one most suitable for you.

save money travel deals

Best Travel Deal Websites - By Category

While I can't cover all of these travel deal websites, I'll cover the most relevant and useful ones today. Feel free to use the table of contents above to jump to the specific category you're most interested in! The categories and respective winners are:

  • Best Travel Deals for Airfares - Skyscanner
  • Best Flight Deals and Alert Subscriptions - Going.com
  • Best Deals for Error Fares - Secret Flying
  • Best Travel Deals Apps - Hopper
  • Best Online Travel Agencies for Deals - Expedia
  • Best Deals for All-Inclusive or Vacation Packages - Orbitz
  • Other Notable Mentions for Deals - Travelzoo

Why are there so many travel deal websites?

The reason why there are different categories for travel deal websites is that different travelers have other preferences, budgets, and timeframes.

It's also precisely why it's so complicated to find the "best travel deal website" because there are different ones for each type of traveler.

It's important to note that while some are featured in one category, it doesn't mean they don't have features worthy of the other categories. For example, most of them have mobile apps, and a lot of services offer mistake and error fares.

While some companies focus on one aspect of travel deals, some, like Expedia, focus on all aspects of travel (hotels, flights, car rentals, bundles.)

Using all of these tools sounds like a headache, which is exactly why I'm excited to be a part of Pilot, a social travel hub that will incorporate all things travel in one platform.

I'll go in-depth into what my recommendations are for each category. Let's discover together what the best travel deal sites are for you in particular!

Best Flight Deals for Airfare Discounts

Let's face it: one of the biggest spend, especially for international travel, is the flight ticket.

Being one of the first expenses you'll incur, it can be a significant downer as flight tickets can drain your budget and de-motivate you from going on your trip.

Fear not, though! Here are some of the best sites for flight deals to save big on your next trip.

1. Skyscanner

Skyscanner logo

For many travelers, Skyscanner is a favorite out of all the flight deals search sites out there. For good reasons, too.

Skyscanner allows you to search for flights from "everywhere" and "anytime," which gives you the ultimate flexibility around finding the best destination for affordable airfare. Advanced filtering options from Skyscanner can also help you filter out layovers, flight duration, amenities, alternatives, and more.

Once you've picked a flight, Skyscanner will redirect you to the website with the best prices to book your flights.

I personally use Skyscanner quite often to look for affordable flights, and I especially appreciate the ability to be flexible with location and time. The website also updates in real-time, so if you get lucky, you might find some last-minute deals on there!

The downsides of Skyscanner include not featuring all airlines on their website and not being able to book directly on their site as it's a third-party affiliated platform.

2. Google Flights

google flights best travel sites

Google Flights is probably one of the most commonly used flight search platforms out there. In recent times, Google Flights has also become really flexible, allowing you to use their "explore" feature to find the cheapest flights for cool new destinations.

I personally juggle between Google Flights and Skyscanner to look for the cheapest flights. One of the best features of Google Flights is the ability to visually see price fluctuations chart between your departure and arrival dates and the ability to see them on a map.

Google Flights also recently launched price-tracking features, which will send alerts to your phone when prices for flights drop.

The downside is that some airlines won't show on Google Flights, like SouthWest Airlines and Thai Airways. Oh, Google Flights is also a third-party platform, meaning it'll redirect you to another site when you're ready to book.

Best Flight Deal Alerts Subscription Service

Aside from powerful platforms allowing you to book flights and search cheap flight deals, there are also flight deal alert subscription services that'll be able to automatically notify you through email or SMS on flights you're interested in.

Here are some of the best flight deal subscription websites out there.

1. Going (Formerly Scott's Cheap Flights)

Ever have that one friend bragging about how they got 50%+ off flight tickets? Some of them probably use services like Going.

Going.com , formerly known as Scott's Cheap Flights, is a travel service that leverages a blend of its internal team and algorithms to scour the internet looking for dips and discounts for airfares.

When they've identified a preferred discount, a notification (email and/or SMS) will be sent to you to book the flight.

On Going, you can indicate your preferences to only receive emails on your chosen routes, and then you'll typically have a couple of days to book those fares.

With premium subscription, you'll also get access to more filters, destinations, and type of fare reductions. This is perfect if you're a frequent traveler or a digital nomad.

The downside to Going is the very limited free plan, which gives you very few options and filters to choose from. There's also no flight search feature, so I recommend combining this with Skyscanner or Google Flights.

I've been following the journey of Scott Cheap Flights and its growth into Going.com, so if you're still wondering, " Is Going.com worth it? ", check it out!

2. Jack's Flight Club

jack's flight club best travel deal sites

Similar to Scott's Cheap Flights, there's another Flight Club in town: Jack's Flight Club .

Jack's Flight Club operates with an email subscription service just like Scott's Cheap Flights, but instead of showing flights originating in the US, Jack's Flight Club shows fares departing from the UK, Ireland, and Northern European airports.

So, if you happen to live in an area serviced by one of those airports or are traveling onward from there, it's worth subscribing to Jack's Flight Club emails - it's free!

The downside of using Jack's Flight Club is similar to Going.com, where they don't offer search functionalities and won't cover all regions of the globe. I've tried subscribing to both of them so I can get more regions, but I just ended up with a bunch of emails.

If you're interested in finding out the verdict of Jack's Flight Club reviews , we go in-depth on their pros and cons. Check it out for more detail!

3. Dollar Flight Club

dollar flight club best travel websites

Another flight deal service, Dollar Flight Club , allows you to subscribe to their emails to receive fare deals straight to your inbox.

Unlike Scott's Cheap Flights, Dollar Flight Club allows you to select airports outside the US as your primary departure region.

Their free membership gets you deals on mainly international flights, but sometimes you'll get ones that may even feel too good to be true!

Premium and Premium Plus subscriptions for Dollar Flight Club will get you more exclusive domestic and international deals, business and first-class discounts, partner deals, and more!

The deals are often time-sensitive, so you'll need to be quick and watch your inbox closely if you're looking to snag those deals.

While it's free to use Dollar Flight Club's service, I'd prefer Going or Jack's Flights Club over Dollar Flight Club over frequent complaints of billing transparency and refund issues, on top of the same flaws that exist on Going or Jack Flights Club.

Want to learn more? My colleague goes in-depth on what is Dollar Flight Club , what they offer, and what the reviews are like in detail.

4. Matt's Flights

matt's flights best last minute travel deals sites

A final flight club for you to use is Matt's Flights .

Claiming to save you up to 90% on flights, Matt looks for the best deals and error fares before sending them out to his email subscribers based on their preferred departure locations.

If you upgrade to the premium version, you'll have access to 24/7 personalized support in finding the best fares for your chosen routes.

Matt's newsletters also occasionally contain giveaways or contests for free airplane tickets, and who can complain about that?

If you'd like to know more about them, make sure to read our review of Matt's Flights !

Best Travel Websites for Error Fares

Airline companies frequently make mistakes on the fares of airline tickets. While they're often quick to revert back, it's become such a well-known phenomenon that services and websites have devoted their business model to catching these error fares for travelers.

While many businesses have features for catching error fares, some have gotten really good at it.

So, if you're flexible in where you go as long as you get incredibly cheap airline tickets, definitely check out these best travel sites for error fares!

1. Secret Flying

Secret flying logo

Secret Flying, founded in 2014, is a service that finds incredibly cheap flight deals and mistake fares for travelers, claiming to save up to 90% on average for flights.

To use Secret Flying, you'll have to be flexible on dates and destinations. Download the app and start getting juicy notifications on the best flight deals near you!

I've used them before, and a few drawbacks come to mind. Secret Flying is more tailored for spontaneous travelers and isn't for those with inflexible timeframes to work with. Download their mobile app to get started!

Secret Flying also has an outdated design, which may be a turnoff as it doesn't reflect the mood of those traveling.

Wandering what the consensus is from the secret flying reviews , my colleague goes into detail, so check it out!

2. Airfarewatchdog

airfarewatchdog best travel sites

If you're able to be a little flexible with your travel and snag spontaneous deals, AirfareWatchdog is the travel site for you!

AirfareWatchdog, which has been in the industry since 1998, has employees and algorithms searching the internet and airlines to find error fares or discount deals. You'll learn about them as soon as they appear.

Airfarewatchdog's gotten so good at it they're acquired by Expedia, which has since only gotten better at finding error fares.

Fares are also tracked so you can see if there are any trends. You can set up alerts to receive any of the discounts via email, but the more flexible you are with your travel, the more likely you'll be able to take advantage of one of their deals.

We've written an in-depth review on Airfarewatchdog , so definitely check it out if you're interested in using their services!

Best App for Travel Deals

Nowadays, I find travel inspiration in the most unusual places. For one minute, I'm at the office working, and the next minute, I'm secretly on my phone scrolling through destinations to travel to. (Luckily for me, I work in travel 🤩)

I'm not alone, either. Mobile apps have increasingly become the go-to place for travel inspiration. Correspondingly, the best way to facilitate impulse travel bookings on mobile is travel deal apps designed specifically to source the best travel deals for you all on your phone.

Let's talk about some of the biggest mobile apps specifically for travel deals, shall we?

hopper best last minute travel deal sites

Hopper is a travel deals app that's designed to help you find the best prices on hotels, flights, and rentals.

If you prefer using an app rather than having to check your emails for travel deals, Hopper is an app you should add to your phone. I've personally used Hopper before, and it's a great platform for spontaneous travelers to look for and set targets for deals and prices for destinations that you'd like to visit.

With a motto of "spend less, and travel better," Hopper provides travelers with great deals on hotel bookings and flights. Hopper's algorithm focuses on predicting fares so you can choose to travel when costs are at their lowest and save as much as possible.

What I like about Hopper is its color-coded calendar and the "watch" feature, which helps you find the best rates per date and track price fluctuations.

The drawback I've found with the app is the refunds not being actual cash but with in-store "Carrot Cash" credits. They've also struggled to maintain competitive pricing and customer service problems.

There's actually a lot more to Hopper than what we've covered here, so if you'd like to learn more about Hopper, including a frequently asked question of " Is Hopper legit? " check out our comprehensive guide on the travel deals app now!

2. Super Travel (Formerly known as SnapTravel)

Super Travel Logo

SnapTravel, recently rebranded to Super Travel, leverages AI to help travelers find cheap deals online.

Super offers a self-serve travel agent platform that helps with accommodation booking, namely hotels and flights, and aims to use machine learning to bring the cheapest deals to customers.

All you'll need to do is to send them a message with your city and date preferences, and you'll get a reply with Super Travel's tailored travel deals, which you can then easily take advantage of with a few clicks.

I've personally tried out SnapTravel before the rebrand and found it less useful than Hopper. To be fair, the reason for their rebrand has lots to do with the overwhelming negative snap travel reviews online, so I doubt Super Travel is any better.

I'd personally recommend checking them out, but be wary of price fluctuations between the app and the providers the mobile app's pushing you towards.

Best Online Travel Agencies for Travel Deals!

If I were to ask you to name a company in Travel, you'd most likely call out brands like Expedia, TripAdvisor, or Booking. These platforms hold a majority market share for a good reason, as their global inventory remains uncontested.

But are they good at finding deals? The answer isn't as clear-cut as you think.

Most platforms that search for deals will bring you to OTA (Online Travel Agencies) to book. That's because these companies hold inventories and can adjust prices accordingly.

Using other travel deal websites to track price fluctuations on these providers, in my opinion, is the best way to go about researching and sourcing great travel deals.

Plus, these big OTAs often offer great perks when booking with them, such as free room upgrades for loyalty programs, package deals for travel, free airport pickups, and more.

Let me run you through the most relevant OTAs in the market today.

Expedia Logo

Expedia is one of the biggest travel marketplace providers in the world, available for flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises, vacation packages, and more. They're also on both web and mobile apps.

Expedia Group owns the likes of Travelocity, Orbitz, Hotels.com, Vrbo, Trivago, Hotwire, and more. I'll quickly run you through each platform and what they focus on.

But for now, Expedia.

One of the bigger website names in travel discounts, Expedia has long dominated as a top booking platform for discounted travel.

Using Expedia, you can find great deals on flights, hotels, car rentals, travel packages, and more.

The best thing about Expedia is their One Key rewards program, where you can earn 1 credit per dollar spent on the platform. The reward program can then be redeemed on most of Expedia Group's subsidiary companies, like Vrbo and Hotels.com.

If you're looking for a place to search for last-minute deals and other travel packages like cruises or all-inclusive luxury travel, Expedia is likely your best and most reliable bet. The downside to Expedia is the variety of cancellation and date change policies per listing.

1a. Travelocity

Travelocity Logo

Travelocity is an OTA powered by Expedia that helps you book everything together in one place. Using the global inventory powers of Expedia, Travelocity offers price match guarantees and an extra 10% off Travelocity members.

While the 10% off is great, there are no rewards or loyalty programs associated with Travelocity.

2. Booking.com

Booking.com Logo

Booking.com is another OTA and travel provider conglomerate offering millions of listings, from hostels and apartment rentals to hotels and luxury resorts across the world.

Booking Holdings also owns platforms like KAYAK, Priceline, Agoda, and more.

I like using Booking.com more than Expedia, but that's my preference. The feature I particularly like is the free cancellations that Booking.com offers compared to Expedia, as well as their tiered reward system (Genius points).

The drawback of using Booking.com is that they don't relay my information to Hotels, so sometimes my notes get missed.

If you'd like to learn more about Booking.com reviews and whether they're worth booking with, my colleague wrote a review, so check it out before booking with them!

3. Airbnb / Vrbo

Airbnb logo

Airbnb is a household name when it comes to OTAs for vacation rentals, homestays, and other experiences.

Airbnb started as a place for travelers to source cheap alternatives to hotels and resorts, effectively serving as an OTA for homestays. I'd definitely check them out for great deals on stays, especially in areas where hotel prices are high.

The best thing I like about Airbnb is its filtering ability, which lets me get into the specifics of what kind of accommodations I want to stay in.

Vrbo logo

While Airbnb has gained fame and popularity, there's also Vrbo, featuring more vacation rentals and private stays. If you're looking for these accommodation types, I'd switch between the two to look for the best deal and place to stay.

While Vrbo reviews are comparable with Airbnbs, I think they're pretty different.

The biggest drawback with Airbnb, Vrbo, and other vacation rentals is the rising prices of the stays, some even comparable to hotels and resorts. This added to expensive and strict policies, has lost their initial appeal, at least to me.

If you're looking for in-depth explanations of the reviews of Airbnb and what they mean, we go further into detail in a separate article.

4. Momondo / KAYAK

If you're looking for an easy way to compare prices across hotel bookings, flights, car rentals, and more, Momondo is an excellent resource for you to use.

momondo best travel deals

Momondo is powered by Booking Holdings and is currently managed by Kayak

It's most famous for comparing flights and even has a "fly anywhere" button if you want to be spontaneous and travel to wherever is cheapest.

You can also set up flight alerts for your chosen routes to be notified if prices drop. As with any flight deal site, be sure to check directly with the airline to ensure that the price you're seeing is the lowest.

Check out how we feel about the travel deals site in our Momondo review here!

KAYAK Logo

As for KAYAK, they're a meta-search engine for travel, hosting tons of listings, flights, and services worldwide, with advanced filtering options to get really specific on what kind of accommodation you'd like to stay at or what kind of flights you'd like to book.

KAYAK offers price alerts where you'll receive notifications whenever the price fluctuates, which also makes it a good site to track travel deals.

Check out our full KAYAK review for more details!

5. Tripadvisor

tripadvisor Best bargain travel sites

Tripadvisor used to be my favorite place to look for inspiration and recommendations on where to go. Still, they've become more of a booking platform than a community-driven travel site.

What is Tripadvisor? The platform has changed so much; they're apparently also now a go-to place for travel deals. Tripadvisor highlights the cheapest days to book on their platform, with powerful filtering capabilities to help you find a good deal.

What's great about Tripadvisor is that you can filter your search to only accommodation between certain price points, helping you stay within budget while potentially finding some good surprise deals.

Personally, I don't go to Tripadvisor for travel deals, but many others do, so that's why it's featured. A big reason is that prices are often higher on checkout than on what is displayed.

Tripadvisor will also tell you whenever you're receiving a discount, so you know you're getting the best price.

If you need a refresher on what Tripadvisor is, including why or why not book with them, check out our detailed review now!

OTAs vs. Direct Hotel Bookings: Which is better?

There are a lot of questions and assumptions made around booking through OTAs like Booking.com or Expedia versus booking directly through the hotel, so as a travel veteran who's booked from both many times, I'll provide some tips on which is better.

In general, if you're looking to get the most out of your stay, compare the prices of both before booking. Direct booking have greater chances of better deals, but that's not always the case.

In cases where OTA has better prices, make sure to check the hotel page itself, as they sometimes offer exclusive perks to direct booking travelers, like room upgrades or hotel credits.

If you book through an OTA, chances are information may be concealed from the hotel, so they're not able to curate a better experience for you. When I travel for special occasions, I always either book directly with the hotel or call them up to give them notes on my stay so they can better prepare for my arrival.

Oh, get a good travel credit card so you can earn points from your accommodation and travel expenses for cool perks!

All-Inclusive or Vacation Packages Deal Sites

Who says all-inclusive deals or vacation packages have to be expensive?

It certainly doesn't.

If you're looking for luxury travel or all-in-one vacation packages, I've got you covered as well. A lot of companies we've covered thus far offer decent vacation package deals, such as Expedia and Travelocity, but we'll cover more here.

Orbitz Logo

When it comes to vacation bundles or all-inclusive packages, Orbitz is often the go-to for this particular service.

On Orbitz's main site, you'll be able to search from a combination of flights, hotels, and car rentals, with additional filtering options. Orbitz also has its own rewards program called Orbucks, which you'll be able to use on flights, packages, and hotels booked through Orbitz.

The biggest value for Orbitz is the bundles, as the rewards aren't as good as some of the deal sites mentioned here.

Learn more about Orbitz Hotels & Flights before you book with them!

2. Gate 1 Travel

Gate 1 Travel logo

Not many people know about Gate 1, but they're known for some cool, organized tours around the world.

While they're not exactly branded as an all-inclusive or vacation deal package, their tours come in different travel styles, which range from Value to Deluxe, depending on which suits you the best.

They're also offering flash sales or last-minute deals, some of which are all-inclusive or vacation packages, with extra savings. I'd check them out if booking organized tours is your thing!

The biggest downside is that Gate 1 is not meant for solo travelers and people who like to take control during their trip.

Find out about Gate 1 Travel reviews before booking tours with them through our review!

3. Secret Escapes

Secret Escapes Logo

Secret Escapes is a service that helps travelers find luxury hotels and deals in the UK and other countries. They act as travel agents, helping you source the best online luxury deals and saving time and money.

They also have collections to search for trips based on keywords (i.e., boutique hotels, all-inclusive holidays, Lake District breaks, or Northern Lights holidays), as well as experiences.

Some downsides include geographic restrictions for memberships and varied experiences. If you're looking for luxury accommodations, packages, or bundles, feel free to check them out. The membership is free!

If you're looking for more details like how does Secret Escape work , check out our detailed guide!

Other Notable Mentions for Travel Deals

Here are some more great travel deal sites that I think you should check out! I don't think it's a fair comparison to put them against the likes of Booking and Expedia, so here are some travel deal websites that travelers have come to love.

1. TravelZoo - Great for last-minute deals

travelzoo best travel websites

Travelzoo is a great place if you're looking for last-minute deals.

Pulling together all kinds of deals from providers, you'll be able to go through their top 20 list of deals or filter by "deal kind" to find what fits your travel goals best.

Travelzoo is a great way to see what's out there, but be mindful that it's a third-party company and is not directly responsible for any bookings.

Learn what TravelZoo is and if they're legit in our detailed review!

2. Priceline - Great last-minute vacation packages

Priceline logo

While Priceline offers all of the basic travel deals that most other platforms on here feature, similarly to Orbitz, they also offer bundles and packages.

Perhaps the best feature of Priceline is its map-focused search, which is very useful for quick scans of which accommodation is the best within a given area. What's great is that you're also able to add on and customize for selected packages (at a cost).

With Express Deals on Priceline, you can save on hotels up to 60%, which is why they're featured on this list.

While they don't display the hotel brands until after you book with them, you'll see general features like star ratings, guest ratings, and the general area of where the accommodation is located.

If you're still wondering, " is Priceline Legit ?", we cover that and more in detail on our blogs!

3. Holidu - Great Vacation Rental deals

holidu best travel deals

Holidu is a great vacation rental place to source deals from.

Using your travel dates, you can search for your chosen destination, and Holidu will pull up the best deals across multiple sites.

There's an option to filter through different types of properties, and you can even view the property using Google Street View.

Their list of budget-friendly accommodations means you'll be able to find your perfect fit at the right price point.

I'd say Holidu's biggest drawback is its extent of listings and the varied customer service.

Learn more about what Holidu reviews say before you book!

Booking a flight, hotel, and rental car together doesn’t just save you time—it can often save you money, too. But before you make such a significant purchase, it’s important to find the best travel package sites for booking your vacation.

I tested more than a dozen vacation package sites to see which ones had the lowest prices and best user experience. I discovered that many of the best vacation package websites allow you to book any combination of flight, hotel, and rental car, while others are more limited (flight + hotel is often the default). Fortunately, some sites will let you add a car onto a hotel+flight package, even if a car isn’t listed on the initial booking page.

It’s also important to compare the price of a vacation booked as a bundle to that same trip booked a la carte as separate components. Booking a package isn’t always cheaper, and sometimes you’ll get  better flight options to choose from if you search for your airfare separately. In some searches, I discovered that the flight options included by default with my vacation package had ridiculously long layovers or undesirable departure times (4:30 a.m., anyone?).

The Best Car Rental Booking Sites

Keep a sharp eye out for resort fees; many of the best vacation booking sites don’t count them in their initial per-person price estimate because they’re collected separately by the hotel, but they can drive up the final cost of your trip. Similarly, optional airline baggage fees can also increase your total bill, especially if you book a flight in basic economy, and some vacation package sites don’t disclose these fees as clearly as others.

Finally, it’s important to know that many of the best sites for vacation packages are owned by the same parent company, so you’ll often find similar inventory and prices from one to the next. Knowing which sites are mostly interchangeable can save you some research time.

The Best Travel Package Sites

We put them to the test to compare prices, inclusions, and more. The following are the best websites to book vacations, listed in no particular order. Scroll down for more in-depth analysis of each one.

  • Expedia’s sister sites: Travelocity , Orbitz , and CheapTickets

CheapCaribbean.com

Funjet vacations.

Illustration of a laptop computer screen showing the vacation packages search page for Expedia

This well-known site is one of the best travel package sites for a reason. Expedia offers a full complement of bundle options (flight/hotel, flight/car, hotel/car, and flight/hotel/car) as well as trips to just about every corner of the globe. It’s reliable when it comes to pricing, too: Expedia offered the lowest price in two of my five tests, and was cheaper than average in all but one test booking.

That said, the amount the site said I was saving on a given package didn’t always match up to the actual price difference when I added up the cost of the trip’s individual elements. In one of my test cases, it was actually cheaper to book my flight, hotel, and car separately. So take those supposed savings with a grain of salt (or even better, price out the components separately on your own to be sure you’re getting the best deal).

Expedia has plenty of useful filters to help you find what you need. You can sort hotels by price, distance from a city’s downtown, guest rating, package discount, and property class, while flight options can be filtered by general departure and arrival times (for example, morning vs. evening), airline, whether carry-on bags are included, and more. You can also sort flight options by duration (longest or shortest), price (highest or lowest), departure time (earliest or latest), and arrival time (earliest or latest). There’s also a map view so you can check out the location of each hotel.

Best Feature: The breadth of choice and consistency of pricing make Expedia perhaps the best site for vacation packages. You may not always get the absolute lowest price here, but chances are you’ll pay a fair rate and have plenty of options to choose from.

Expedia’s Sister Sites: Travelocity, Orbitz, and CheapTickets

good travel deal sites

Many travelers don’t realize that Travelocity , Orbitz , and CheapTickets are all owned by Expedia Group, and typically have very similar inventory and pricing to Expedia. Each of these sites has similar layouts and filter options, too. Like Expedia, these three sites offer every possible vacation package combination involving a flight, hotel, and/or rental car.

It was rare for any of these sites to beat out Expedia’s prices in my tests; in general, the rates were identical (especially on Travelocity, where I didn’t find any deviations from Expedia) or a little bit higher. However, Orbitz and CheapTickets did offer slightly cheaper packages on one flight/car itinerary.

Because the pricing is so similar, it’s probably not worth searching all three of these sites in addition to Expedia unless a difference of a few dollars will make or break your travel budget.

Best Feature: Travelocity, Orbitz, and CheapTickets offer a checkbox on their main booking page to specify “I only need accommodations for part of my trip”—a feature that allows user to select a subset of their trip dates and search for travel packages only within that period. This feature is also reflected on Expedia’s search page.

Note: Expedia Group also owns Hotwire , which I didn’t find quite as reliable as the other three in my tests. For one itinerary, a nonstop flight that the other sites offered was not available when booking a Hotwire package (though it was available when booking a separate flight on Hotwire), and the pricing on some searches was a little higher than on the other sites.

Check out Expedia’s sister sites below:

good travel deal sites

Like Expedia and its partners, Priceline also offers every possible combination of flight, hotel, and rental car. Its search results pages are easy to navigate, with plenty of filter and sort options, plus a map view for hotels. Priceline offers numerous hotel options in popular vacation destinations at every price point.

One quirk to prepare for: Priceline’s flight result page lists departure and return flights together as a pair rather than letting you choose each one separately. This cuts down on the number of screens you have to click through but could mean extra scrolling while you try to find the exact two flights you want. Not all flights that are available when booking airfare separately on Priceline seem to be accessible to those booking a package—so it’s worth checking both.

Priceline was in the middle of the pack as far as pricing was concerned. It won one of my tests but was the most expensive option in two others; overall, it offered cheaper-than-average prices 60 percent of the time. To help you save money, the site offers “Express Deals” for rental cars, an opaque option in which you don’t know which rental car brand you’ll get until after you’ve booked. If you’d rather choose which company you’re renting from, standard car rentals are also available.

Best feature: Once you’ve selected your flight and rental car preferences, the site will keep them the same as you click through alternate hotel possibilities—saving you the hassle of having to select them over and over again.

What Happens If You Don’t Turn Your Phone to Airplane Mode?

good travel deal sites

As its name suggests, CheapCaribbean.com has a more limited scope than other sites on this list, but it’s worth checking if you’re planning a trip to the Caribbean, where package trips such as honeymoons are particularly popular. The site turned up cheaper-than-average prices for both of my Caribbean tests.

CheapCaribbean.com is one of the best vacation websites for all-inclusive packages. Once you’ve entered your trip information, you can also filter your results by “adults only,” “children’s amenities,” and “luxury.” Each hotel-specific page includes a list of active promotions, on-site activities, and the property’s Tripadvisor Traveler Rating.

In some ways CheapCaribbean.com isn’t quite as sophisticated as other travel package sites. There’s no map available to compare locations of the listed hotel options. Also annoying: not being able to group Houston’s two airports into a single search, though you can select “all airports” for New York City and Washington, D.C. But the affordable deals are worth a few snags, as long as you’re only looking for a flight/hotel package—there’s no option to add a car or create any other package combinations, though you can add travel insurance and transfers, at least for the destinations I checked.

Best Feature: The “ Deals of Fortune ,” or bookings where you know the destination but not the exact resort until about a week before the trip. This is a fun feature for value-conscious travelers who aren’t set on a particular island or property.

A popular meta-search site, Kayak saves travelers time by searching many of the best travel package sites with a single click. Unfortunately, you can’t specify which elements of your trip you’d like to bundle; it searches flight + hotel by default. You can add a car later on some of its partner sites, but if you’re looking for a flight/car package, you’ll have to go elsewhere.

Results list the cheapest available packages from sites such as Priceline (Kayak’s sister company), Expedia, and CheapCaribbean.com. There’s a map view available, and the results page shows both air- and hotel-related filters to make it easy to find nonstop flights, free breakfast, or a specific hotel.

I found that the prices listed on Kayak didn’t always match the price on the source site when I clicked over to find the deal—a fairly common problem with meta-search sites. But I also occasionally discovered that I got a different price after clicking from Kayak than I did when searching the same itinerary from the booking site’s home page. For example, a Las Vegas package was $819 per person on Priceline when I clicked over from Kayak, but just $783 when I booked the same package from the Priceline home page. Another test offered the opposite result, with the price being cheaper after clicking from Kayak than it was when booking directly on Priceline. The lesson: Test both options when using a meta-search site.

Best Feature: Being able to search some of the best vacation booking sites in a single place is a major time saver. Though Kayak doesn’t always find you the lowest possible price, it’s a good place to start your search and get an idea of what’s out there.

The Essential Caribbean Packing List

good travel deal sites

The Funjet home page gives you a single package option: flight/hotel. However, you can work around this by adding a rental car on at the end of a flight/hotel or individual flight booking. There are plenty of sort options for your results, including price, hotel name, rating, points of interest, and location.

One annoyance: Similarly to CheapCarribbean.com, there is no option to select “all airports” for certain cities like Houston or Chicago. And Funjet’s prices aren’t the most consistent, ranking as the cheapest in one test and the most expensive in another. Still, the site is worth comparing to others when booking your vacation.

Best Feature: Rather than making you scour the web for coupons, Funjet automatically applies any relevant promo codes to your search.

Note: If you’re headed to the Caribbean, Central or South America, Hawaii, or Mexico, try your search on Funjet’s sister site, Apple Vacations . The destinations it covers are more limited than Funjet’s, but I found that the prices were often a little better. CheapCaribbean.com is also owned by the same parent company, Apple Leisure Group.

10 Best Websites for Finding Incredible Travel Deals

Published by ashley on may 20, 2018 may 20, 2018, 10 best websites for travel deals.

Over the fourteen years that we have been married , we have adopted a little hobby of finding great travel deals.  Regardless of what financial bracket you fall into, saving on travel means you free up money to give generously, set it aside in savings, travel more often OR even take the trip you are researching in the first place!  I don’t know about you, but for us, this is a huge incentive to doing good, thorough research before every trip to find the lowest prices.

Hopefully, scrolling through our amazing travel experiences and photos on our Instagram profile is fun and inspirational for you.  However, it can also end in frustration if you desire to travel with your family but don’t think it’s doable or attainable.  This is why we share travel deals on our Traveling Graces Facebook page!  Our hope is to do the work for you, especially if your priority is a great deal and you are open to a variety of destinations.  Of course, there are always times that we need a specific flight at an even more specific time.  For these cases, we wanted to share with you our favorite sites for travel deals so that you can find your own amazing discounts that suite your particular needs.  Our family has used every single one of these sites numerous times with great success!

1. Travelzoo

This is our absolute favorite… and it’s not even close!  Travelzoo is always our very first stop when looking into a specific destination. We particularly love their weekly Top 20 e-mail newsletter that comes out every Wednesday.  You can pretty much assume that it is a great price if a travel deal has made it on that list, which is quite a statement!  Their deals include international packages, local activities, airfare, hotels, and more.

In general, we always prefer websites that direct us to a different site to book rather than booking directly through them.  Although we realize they often are advertising for other companies, we like that they are not bound to solely what their specific site offers.  For example, Travelzoo might have a link to book a great deal with Vacations Express, Cheap Caribbean, and Princess Cruise Line all in one post.  This is also true for Google Flights and Momondo which is why they are #2 and #3 on our list!

2. Google Flights

We specifically love using Google Flights for their pop up calendar feature that shows you the lowest travel dates of the specified month.  Since we try to keep our plans as flexible as possible to allow for great deals, we can pick the combination of days that have the lowest fares and work with our schedule.  We recently did this while booking our trip to Turks and Caicos and ended up flying Tuesday-Tuesday.

3. Momondo / Skyscanner

After finding the cheapest days to fly, we then plug this information into Momondo .  Most people have never even heard of this site, but it has become so valuable to our planning process.  Although it does not have the best search function for flexible dates (that’s what Google Flights is for!), it is absolutely the best at finding the lowest price.  We have even read numerous reports that, when compared with other search engines, Momondo found the cheapest airfare EIGHT or NINE times out of ten.  Not many other sites can boast that!  Like Travelzoo, it is just a link to a booking site.  It even includes budget airlines such as Southwest, Allegiant, Frontier, etc.

We have also had luck using this same method with Skyscanner .  Skyscanner has become our go-to during our trip around the world .    For the most part, it has some of the best prices combined with amazing search features.  You can even fill in your starting city and choose “Worldwide” as your destination to see what cheap options there are.  If you are flexible, you can choose date options like “anytime in January” or a “1 week trip in the next 6 months”!

travel deals

4. Scott’s Cheap Flights

Scott Keyes has a free and paid email subscription that alerts you when incredibly cheap airfare becomes available.  Most of the time, they use the Google Flights + Momondo method as well, but all the work is done for you.  An example email would basically read, “Flights to Costa Rica $200s-$300s during summer months from these 10 cities”.  We did a free trial of a similar subscription and Scott’s was MUCH better.

5. Vacations To Go

For cruises, we have used Vacations To Go for years and have always been so pleased with their prices and service. If we find something cheaper elsewhere, they will usually price match it and sometimes even give you additional onboard credit.  You can read more about our experience price matching with Vacations To Go in our Mediterranean  blog post.

6. Airbnb / VRBO

Especially when our children were younger, having space to spread out and put them to bed in a separate bedroom was a very nice luxury.  For our family, Airbnb and VRBO allow us to rent more space (often a 2-3 bedroom) for a similar price as a basic hotel room.  Whether you are renting a home for your vacation or renting out your own home to provide extra income, both sites are a great way to find good deals and make traveling more attainable.  Our favorite Airbnb feature is that they offer great discounts for 1+ week trips and AMAZING discounts for month-long rentals.  These discounts can often be up to 50% off!

travel deals

Hotwire operates similarly to most travel booking sites but gives you a star-rating instead of a hotel name.  This site will immediately let you know if your offer was accepted by a hotel and, if so, you are charged the agreed upon amount and then told the hotel name.  We mainly use Hotwire when we need to book a hotel quickly at the last minute, especially if it is the night of.

8. Booking.com / Agoda

Generally, we are not huge fans of traditional booking sites like this.  However, we love that  Booking.com  often includes boutique hotels, bed and breakfasts, and small hidden gems that other large sites do not.  During a recent trip to Ireland , we were able to find a tiny bed and breakfast located in an actual castle for a very reasonable price that only showed up on booking.com and the inn’s website!  Agoda also has consistently great prices, and the ability to earn a small percent future credit for every booking you make.

9. Groupon/ Living Social

Our family uses Groupon and Living Social for everything from gifts and local activities to international travel.  Sometimes we even just browse their deals to get new ideas for family experiences around our city or around a travel destination.  When you couple their already discounted prices with additional promo codes that they offer often, you can find awesome deals.

10. WDW Prep School

Ok, this last one isn’t exactly a travel DEAL site, more of a general planning guide.  However,  because great preparation and planning have become so vital to a successful Disney World trip, it is important to have a go-to site for stellar information.  WDW Prep School is by far our favorite site for everything Disney related.  We particularly love her podcasts , and our kids enjoy listening to them too.  Shannon seems to have a genuine love for what she does, and she comes off as enthusiastic but not “Disney hyper”.  You can find a few of her blog posts that are more geared towards deals here , here , and here .  You can also here our trip report interview with Shannon here.

** Head here for more ideas on saving money in order to travel more!

If you have any additional travel deal sites that you love, please let us know!  We would love to check it out and add it to our rotation 🙂

If you're trying to find deals on a last-minute holiday trip or book a winter or early spring getaway, we've rounded up some December deals to help steer you in the right direction and save money on travel expenses to get you where you're going for less.

Planning ahead is a surefire way to save. Booking domestic flights about three weeks to three months in advance can yield the best savings. With that time frame, reserving one-way or round-trip air travel in December can save you money on late winter getaways, Spring Break travel, or even just a weekend getaway. For international trips, you'll want to book about three to six months in advance – or up to 10 months in advance during a destination's peak season – to get the lowest airfare.

Winter is a big time for travel to warmer climates, so it might be harder to find the best deals this month but be sure to check travel sites for last-minute discounts.

Sites like Priceline , Expedia , Booking.com , and Orbitz are offering discounts on flights, hotels, and travel bundles this month. Hotel and rental car companies are also giving exclusive discounts when you book through them.

Today’s Best Travel Sales

Current deals can be found on some of the most popular travel booking websites and brands. December deals include:

  • Booking.com : up to 15% off Getaway Deals for stays through Jan. 3, 2024
  • CheapOair.com : up to $30 off flight fees with code LD30
  • Expedia : up to 30% savings or more on hotels
  • Priceline : up to 50% savings on select hotels with Pricebreakers
  • Marriott : 15% off or more on three-night or longer stays at select locations with coupon code
  • Orbitz : savings up to 35% with Last-Minute Deals

Priceline 's new service, Pricebreakers , reduces the price of stays at top-rated hotels by up to 50%.

Here's how it works: Priceline will show you three deeply discounted hotel choices that are highly rated, but you won't know which hotel you've booked until the reservation is complete. The company says it's only able to offer these marked-down prices from certain hotels discreetly, so the exact accommodation isn't transparent until you've booked it.

This promotion is good at select Marriotts around the world, including luxury hotels and family-friendly options, and you can use filters on the website to find participating locations.

Families can also save by getting 50% off a second room for kids who are 16 or younger.

Travel Deals – Tips To Save

Having a coupon isn’t the only way to save money on travel plans. Finding the best price on top of a discount can mean significantly more savings. Here are tips to save:

Track prices

Monitoring the price of flights, hotels, cars, cruises, and other accommodations will help you find the best price. Many travel sites have a tracking feature or allow you to save trip searches so you can monitor prices of one-way and round-trip flights, rentals, or other accommodations you’re interested in and be notified when prices drop.

Use a travel app to find the lowest price

A number of apps can also track prices and give you options, letting you know which are the cheapest. Some examples are Scott's Cheap Flights, Skyscanner, Hopper, and Kiwi.

In addition, some booking sites offer discounts if you download and use their app for the reservation process. The website should note if this is an option, so be sure to look for it if you're interested.

Shop during sales

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are popular sale days for big discounts across the board, and that includes travel deals. And don't forget about Travel Tuesday, which follows Cyber Monday and features a variety of deals – from extra points on flight bookings to a free night stay and other discounts on accommodations as well as vacation packages.

For other times of the year, signing up for email newsletters from your favorite travel websites will keep you in the know of upcoming sales. Some have weekly or even daily sales.

Browse different sites

Some sites may offer lower prices than others. By shopping around, you’ll see the different options and prices available for your trip. Don’t dismiss booking directly from an airline, hotel, or cruise company, as they may have offers not available through third-party sites.

Time your trip

Certain months yield lower prices. In general, January and August are known for cheaper airfare, so researching off-season months for your trip destination can keep more money in your pocket and help you avoid tourist-heavy periods.

Be flexible with your trip details if you can

This won't always be possible, but if you can keep your options open, you might find a great deal on a flight to a specific destination or a hotel in an area you might not have originally considered. Timing, too, can impact price, so if you can alter your travel dates, you may be able to take advantage of vacation deals.

Join membership programs

If you’re loyal to certain companies or websites, consider joining their membership programs to earn member-only discounts. Some may even give you a coupon or other reward, such as bonus points, for signing up. Plus, you'll be notified about sales, including hotel deals, cruise deals, and other promotions.

Consider using a travel rewards credit card

Some membership programs offer travel credit cards that you can use for everyday purchases like groceries and gas to earn points for future travel discounts. If you want more flexibility, choose a rewards card not affiliated with one travel company. If you travel frequently and generally use credit cards for purchases, this could be a good way to save on trip expenses.

One thing to check before signing up for a card is its annual fee. Some have no fee, while others may charge several hundreds of dollars per year.

Use your points

Similarly, if you collect points or miles, check to see if you've accumulated enough to save on your travel costs. Some programs also allow you to purchase points, which could be a cost-effective method to pay for your trip, depending on the point conversion rate.

10 best last-minute travel websites

W ith spring in the air and summer just on the horizon, many will be starting the search for suitably affordable last-minute trips abroad.

But organising a holiday at short notice is often easier said than done, whether it’s a spontaneous couples’ getaway or last-minute break with friends and family. The excitement of researching a destination can quickly dissipate once the slog of trawling travel agent, airline and tour operator websites has begun. Comparing flights and accommodation costs on different days for different destinations can really feel like hard work, the antithesis of the fun holiday you’re hoping to book.

The good news is that, whether you want to jump across the Channel to see the Eiffel Tower or head long-haul to the beaches of Cancun, there are hundreds of online options to help you find the best deals for booking transport, places to stay and other extras.

Instead of spending hours on dozens of different websites, check out this list we’ve compiled of some of the best in the travel marketplace. You’ll save time on the research and money on the holiday too – what’s not to like?

Holiday Pirates

This travel deals site manually searches for the best holiday offers daily, finding a range of big discounts and emailing them to subscribers. At the moment you can book an eight-night tour of Turkey, staying in four and five-star hotels, for under £560pp. Other destinations with deals range from as close as Amsterdam to as far away as Mexico.

holidaypirates.com

Jack’s Flight Club

Sign up – for free – to the club and get emailed the cheapest flights from the UK and Ireland including discounts, hidden offers and error fares – think UK to Brazil for £290. Many are last-minute deals, but remember, with prices like this it’s fastest finger first.

jacksflightclub.co.uk

Google Flights

As you’d expect from the algorithm masterminds, this site compares and tracks fares to find you the best deal. But it also has features for the last-minute traveller, such as an option to search for flights in any number of cities for a specific date – so you can see if it’s cheaper to go jet off to Athens or Oslo this weekend.

google.co.uk/flights

Hotel Tonight

This handy website offers last-minute deals if you need a place to stay tonight, tomorrow or within the next seven days. While some deals – especially in the US – are not so good, it can deliver deep discounts in Europe and the UK while also saving you time browsing the best deals.

hoteltonight.com

Kayak

On the “Explore” section of Kayak you can enter your trip length, travel time and dates and the site will come up with a range of options for you to choose from. The easy-to-use map feature is a great way to compare locations and prices for a last minute trip.

BA Holidays

No, it’s not a discount specialist, but BA Holidays – the package wing of British Airways – can offer deep discounts for last-minute trips, pairing unsold flight inventory with empty hotel rooms. In fact, the deals can be so good that a city break with hotel included can work out cheaper than the flights alone, and a week’s car hire in Europe can be close to free.

baholidays.com

With more than 30 million subscribers worldwide, Travelzoo features a host of deals ranging from trips abroad to activities such as spa visits, theatre ticket deals and cruises. A sign-up is required to see full details of deals, but it seems worth it for trips such as four nights and return flights to Ibiza for £149pp.

travelzoo.com

Secret Escapes

You’ll find discounts of up to 70 per cent at Secret Escapes, which follows a similar model to Voyage Privé , offering flash sales to registered members. It’s a great place to scout high-end discount holidays and the customer service of the site has been praised as excellent.

secretescapes.com

Best at Travel

This company’s central London call centre means someone is always on hand to help you out. It’s a “normal” tour operator but has a last-minute deals section on the website, which can offer good discounts on upmarket breaks. Deals at the time of writing included seven nights’ all-inclusive in Crete from £811pp including flights, departing on 15 April.

bestattravel.co.uk

Travel Republic

With about two million customers using the site to book holidays, Travel Republic is bound to have some good deals, and there’s a vast number to choose from, since it shifts flights, tickets for attractions and traditional package holidays. For its top destinations, such as a week self-catering in Corfu, you could find holidays for as little as £218pp . The site also features a lowest-price guarantee, should you spot a better offer for the same holiday elsewhere.

travelrepublic.co.uk

Perhaps the best known site on this list, Skyscanner currently claims to have over 100 million users per month. The site provides you the cheapest, fastest and ‘best’ option for flights. Available in over 30 languages and offering a quick comparison for flights, hotels and car hire, the chances are that you’ve used it before and will use it again.

I've just finished reading several books on Stalin (Montefiore's books, some others). I'd like to hire a private tour guide to visit as many sites of serious historical interest to Stalin's life and activities. I speak English and Russian fluently.

I've been doing business in Russia for 20 years with hundreds of visits and I know Moscow well, but only recently have been getting into serious history. Given the limited time I have I felt it would be best to get an expert to help.

Any suggestions for a tour guide?

' class=

I don't use tour guides myself. But I agree about the two books by Montefiore. Stalin was a very good read, but young Stalin was tremendous! I also recommend any of the Gulag books. And there is a book called the long walk. It has much history/information on the show trials of that time. It is about some men who escape from a siberian camp, and they trek all the way to English controlled India. He latter moved to England where he died of old age. In his book he even tells of him and his friends watching two big foot/yeties for several minutes while in the Tibet area???? I would suggest Volgograd if you can make it there some day? As for old Stalingrad, read the book (Enemy at the gate), all true. Written in the 1970's, and tells both sides of the story. From The German perspective, as well as the Russian side. A movie was made of this book by the same name. This was maybe the best book I have ever read? Good Luck. AIM

Thanks for the tips! Yes, there are some first rate books now coming out. We've now had enough time after access to the newly-opened archives became possible to allow serious historians to dig through the material and come up with results. Montefiore spent over ten years on those two books.

So far, no contacts on guides to report. Worst case I was going to go through locations and pictures in the books I have and try to compile my own walking guide. Alas, time is short before my visit.

http://russiatravel-pdtours.netfirms.com/

Thanks for the tip! I've contacted them by email and they seem responsive, but apparently don't have the right person available Sunday. They have two guides who do tours of this nature and one is off on vacation and the other booked. Dang!

Travel + Leisure / Daisy Rodriguez

No matter the season, Madewell has long been the shopping destination for classic, breezy apparel that channels an effortless vibe through elevated basics and thoughtful silhouettes. However, the retailer is particularly well-suited for the warmer months, as its offerings for spring are some of the most stylish we’ve seen this year — as well as perfect for building a dream packing list for your upcoming travels.

Below, we’ve rounded up the 12 best travel wardrobe pieces hiding within the Madewell sale section, from flowing maxi skirts to the best, packable crossbody purse for avoiding theft. Whether you prefer to equip your suitcase with the basics or are instead looking to add some fun prints into your repertoire, there’s sure to be something for everyone here. And with discounts up to 71 percent off, you’ll be able to stick within your budget as well.

The Emmett Wide-Leg Crop Pant

Simple denim will never go out of style, but if you really want to upgrade your travel wardrobe this spring, these bright cotton pants will certainly do the trick. A best-seller at Madewell, these cropped pants add a bold pop of color to any outfit, instantly creating a more visually interesting look — all while keeping you comfortable while you’re sightseeing, shopping, or going out to dinner. The high-waisted design is effortlessly flattering on a wide range of body types, and a forgiving stretchy material ensures you’ll never feel restricted by your clothing. Best of all, the style is also available in petite and tall sizes.

Pleated Short-Sleeve Top

Veer away from simple T-shirts this season with this stunning pleated top that shows that the resurgence of the peplum trend doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. Another best-seller, this adorable top is adorned with buttons down the front and the perfect cropped fit to hit at just the right spot above your high-waisted pants. Wider sleeves allow for a comfortable range of movement if you’re wearing this on a flight and need to be able to remove your suitcase from the overhead bin with ease, and with five gorgeous shades to choose from (at varying sale prices), your wardrobe is about to get a major upgrade.

The Piazza Crossbody Bag

Everyone needs a reliable purse to bring on every vacation that will keep their belongings safe, and we’re confident that the Piazza Crossbody Bag is just that. By nature, a crossbody is one of the most secure purse styles to ward off potential theft, and with a long adjustable strap and a drawstring and magnet closure, this pouch is practically made for travel. Plus, it’s large enough to carry everything from the basics (wallet, phone, and keys), to a tablet, a camera, or even a book if you desire.

Cropped Cargo Jacket

If you struggle to find the perfect jacket for spring that’s just warm enough without causing you to overheat, fear not, because this cropped cargo jacket is here to save the day. The casual design makes it well-suited to wear with anything from a simple pair of jeans to a flowing maxi dress for all of your upcoming occasions. Seeing as it’s made from 100 percent cotton, you can rest assured that this jacket will be with you season after season while staying in impeccable condition no matter how many trips you pack it for.

Satin Maxi Slip Skirt

There are few pieces quite as versatile as a breezy maxi skirt, so we suggest snapping up this best-selling essential while it’s on sale for as little as $74 in four spring-ready shades. This wardrobe staple is made from a breathable blend of polyester and viscose that creates the perfect drapey finish that elevates anything it’s paired with. An elastic waistband keeps this skirt comfortable above all, so from the airport to the streets of your destination, you’ll be able to take it all on in style.

Katrina Crop Vest Top

Menswear style isn’t going anywhere this spring, and this endlessly cool vest top is guaranteed to become one of the most reached-for pieces in your closet whether you’re traveling or getting dressed up for a day of running errands. A blend of tencel and polyester keeps this top from wrinkling as much as other fabrics (a major win for travelers), and while the flattering fit makes it easy to dress up, it can also be worn with something as simple as a pair of jeans and sneakers to give your street style some edge.

Crinkle Cotton Dolphin-Hem Shorts

Denim shorts are certainly not loved by everyone, so if you still want to show off your legs this season without slipping into rigid, unforgiving material, these best-selling cotton shorts are for you. The pull-on design makes them ideal for travel days when you’re in a hurry or are simply aiming to build an outfit that’s both comfy and cute, and a mid-thigh length means chafing will be kept to a minimum. Just snag the matching button-up shirt and you have your new go-to travel outfit for spring.

Ribbed Polo Cardigan Sweater

There’s a special place in any wardrobe for a cozy cardigan to wear from your flight to a day of activities during your travels, and this ribbed option from Madewell is here to vie for that spot — especially while it’s on sale for $80. This top stands apart from other cardigans due to the polo-style collar and pocket details, while a slightly cropped length is great for when the weather begins to warm up if you don’t want to be swimming in excess fabric. Wear it with jeans, over a dress, or styled with a maxi skirt, but you can rest assured that this sweater will always allow you to look your best.

Superbrushed Pull-On Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are one of those styles that always look pulled-together while still capturing the comfort that’s essential to any good travel wardrobe. This pull-on, cropped jumpsuit is no exception, and just in time for spring it’s now on sale at Madewell for $75. Its ultra-soft, brushed material is one of the major highlights of this piece, while the pull-on design promises to maximize your overall comfort while flying, so you don’t have to worry about too-tight fabric digging into your skin. It’s perfect for layering or wearing on its own, but no matter how you style it, this best-selling jumpsuit is sure to be an asset.

Signature Poplin Oversized Shirt

Whether you choose to wear it as a beach cover-up or a breezy top layer for a day of sightseeing, this oversized button-down shirt is guaranteed to play numerous roles in your spring wardrobe, and right now it’s available for just $40 at Madewell. A simple striped shirt will never go out of style, and the quality cotton that this option is made from only further confirms that it will occupy a valuable slot in your closet (or packing cubes) for years to come. This shirt is the peak of versatility as it can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, so no matter what’s on your agenda, you’ll always be prepared when you have it in your suitcase.

Madewell x Reebok Unisex Club C 85 Sneakers

Take your sneaker game to the next level this spring with this comfy and cool collaboration from Madewell and Reebok that’s so stylish, it’s selling out fast. Currently on sale for $68, these well-cushioned shoes boast durable leather exteriors and cushy, padded tongues that will feel comfortable from the very first wear. Supportive insoles provide everything you need to feel fresh on your feet during a long day of touring a new city, and spacious toe boxes give you space to spread out for a more natural fit. The reign of plain white sneakers has finally come to an end.

Wide V-Neck Midi Dress

It’s a safe bet that at least one night during your travels you’ll want to go out for a slightly nicer dinner, and when that time comes, you’ll be happy to have this stunning midi dress in your suitcase, ready to go. Now on sale for a whopping 71 percent off, this lightweight and classy dress is the perfect spring go-to thanks to the delicate cap sleeves, tasteful side slit, and flattering V-neck cut. While the brown floral pattern is sporting the most significant discount right now, the dress is also available in three other shades that will all be welcome additions to your spring capsule wardrobe.
