Advanblack vs Hogworkz tour pack

Thinking about adding a tour pack and these two seem to be the best aftermarket ones from what I've read so my questions are..have I read wrong, are there better ones out there? And between the two which one? Thanks, Brian  

I have the advanblack. I am very happy with it. Good color match also.  

Chances are they both came out the same door in China. Get which ever one is cheaper.  

I have a fairing factory one. I have had zero issues with it. Came unpainted and I’m really good shape. And it was very reasonably priced.  

Quick question: It says the Advanblack Rushmore King Tour Pack comes with the backrest - My question is, is the backrest attached already? Also, what does the "Rushmore" mean? is that just what Advanblack decided to call their tour packs? or does it mean anything specific. ? Thanks !

I recently purchased an AdvanBlack color matched tour pack for my new 22 special. Color match is really pretty good. Tour pack quality... It is definitely more flimsy than an HD tour pack. The cord that keeps the tour pack from flopping open is too long and lets the lid flap open too far. And the latch doesn't operate as smoothly as HD. Also, the hinge color options were chrome and black, the "hinges" on my saddlebags are color matched. If I were planning to run it 100% of the time, I'd be bummed it's not as good as HD. As it is, it was $950, color matched, with mounting, and shipped. A LOT cheaper than HD. If money were no object, I wish I had the HD unit.  

Replace all hardware with HD branded hardware.  

I have hog works latch kit and it is amazing. No problems. Paired with the Harley detachable kit and then the fairing factory piece. I’m maybe 400-500 into my tour pak. Plus paint. That is where the money was a little more. Still happy with it

How did you get 10% off?  

I love my advanblack pack too. I lost a rolling and used on that was a little long so it's operation isn't quite as good as it was but that's my fault. I prefer the longer strap on the lid. My uncle has a HD pack and he had to hold his lid in the wind while mine laid open more preventing the wind from trying to close it on me.  

I’ve had or installed for others OEM, AB, Hogworkz, Nasty Hawg, and eBay. Any one of them will get the job done fine. The OEM have the best hardware of any of them, the rest, hell they all work. AB and Hogworkz are the only ones I can comment on paint match but they do a pretty damn good job. The one I have on my 07 is a razor 14+ style from AB that’s been on there for 4 years carrying amps, batteries, etc and been through 10 states and god knows how many miles with zero issues. My 17 RG has an eBay special because it barely gets used (maybe once a year) and I couldn’t justify a huge price tag for something that spends the majority of the time hanging on the wall. It is also fine for its intended purpose which is to carry more crap than I can fit in the bags for maybe one trip a year.  

HD paint, Bright work, and body parts are costly for a reason… they are the best. Also CPV who is a licensed HD paint co tractor and CVO paint provider will not warranty Advanblack parts

I bought the 350 dollar chopped tour pack with backrest off amazon. Spent 100 bucks on paint from Colorrite and paid painter 100 to shoot it. Color match is spot on. But I'm a cheap fucker! Same Colorrite paint on the 3d printed lowers

I can get picky if it makes it crank, run or stop but on some items such as bags, fairings, tour packs, etc. not so much. I really wonder if some of this stuff doesn't have the same origin. My bags are from Canada (Nasty Hog) and are great. Lower fairings and tour pack are from an alphabet company with no complaints. Three moto camping trips through 4 states with tour pack stuffed and is looking and functioning good. A lot has to do with what function it serves and is it worth five to ten times the price knowing it might be pretty much the same.

That’s a Razor. The chopped is significantly bigger then that.  

so from the OP...I went with the Advanblack king tour pack but had them put the small backrest on it,. Paint is a great match and fit is spot on.  

I went TCMT because I will rarely run it. All in I’m at $306 (king tp, two up mount and mounting plate) and I got it because a friend ordered his with all the extras (speakers, backrest, lights etc) and it’s a pretty solid piece, mine is plain but it’s all I want/need. If it will latch and remain water tight for my trips I’m good. funny to see how some say to use or that others say they have used HD hardware yet so many don’t believe that they’ve came out of the same mold… mold markings the same… I bet if put a set of calipers on the different brands they’re pretty much the same.  

Don’t really want to hijack this thread or start a new thread and hopefully everyone got what they needed on the TourPacks but…. Fairing Spoiler… I’m in the market even tho I’m two-tone I think I’m going to go VB but wondering the same… AdvanBlack or HogWorks?? Thanks in advance and apologies if anyone is adverse to my hijacking.  

I had a scorched orange tour pack from advanblack for my '19 street glide before I crossed over. I can't compare the pack itself because I don't have any experience with HD ones, but I will say the included seat back that came with it was crap. I had ordered a color matched stitched one anyway so I didn't mine as much, but it was garbage. I let the company know about it and they didn't care because I had bought an extra one. They certainly didn't stand behind the seat back though. As far as color went, the paint certainly didn't stand out as different, it matched pretty well.
