Trip Summary

These three and four day packages offer the ultimate in Champagne luxury for lovers of the prestigous Veuve Clicquot, and are available for a minimum of two guests per booking. Staying at the magnificent 5* Château les Crayères, guests will enjoy a flawless level of service at the hotel, as well as a gastronomic gala dinner with drinks in the Château’s double Michelin starred restaurant “Le Parc”. For those opting for the four day trip, a dinner at the Château’s gourmet brasserie is also included.

After arriving in Reims and spending the day and evening at leisure on day one, we will arrange for luxury transport on the morning of day two to take you to the Veuve Clicquot estate for an unforgettable experience.

The widow Clicquot is a fascinating woman, who truly shaped the history of the Champagne region and its industry. At the beginning of the 19 th Century, after the death of her husband, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot decided to take over the Champagne House. Throughout the years, she faced severe downsides, but most of all huge successes. She conquered the Russian market, created an iconic brand and led the way to tremendous advances in the Champagne-making process.

You will first be taken to the Veuve Clicquot vineyards in the Grands Cru villages of Bouzy and Verzy, in the Montagne de Reims. Here, you will learn about the grape varieties, the appellation and the work carried out in the vineyards in order to create the renowned sparkling wine of Champagne. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking views across the glorious vines. You will then discover the Clos Colin, where red grapes are grown. These grapes are used for the blending of La Grande Dame Rosé.

You will then be taken to the stunning Veuve Clicquot cellars in Reims, where you will learn about the Champagne-making process. Your tour will end with a tasting session of two Veuve Clicquot Champagnes, the world-famous Yellow Label as well as the Prestige Cuvée, La Grande Dame. In addition, you will also try the renowned Grande Dame rosé. You will be taken back to the Château at the end of the tour.

For guests booking the four day package, your driver will meet you on the morning of day three, and accompany you on a second day of tours. The highlight of your tour will without a doubt be a visit to the largest and grandest Champagne House, Moët and Chandon, where you will have an exclusive Dom Pérignon tour. You will be visiting some of the oldest areas of the cellars which are seldom visited by the public. A tasting of Dom Pérignon will conclude the visit in an elegant reception room at the Moët mansion. You will then be taken to the beautiful hilltop village of Hautvillers, where Dom Perignon lived and is buried. Here, you will enjoy a comparative tasting session of three single varietal Champagnes, accompanied by a platter of gourmet delicacies and local cheeses.

The day will continue with a visit to a small, family-run Grand Cru Champagne House for a tour of the fascinating Champagne-making process from press to bottle and the opportunity to learn the Napoleonic art of Sabrage (opening a bottle with a sabre). In the afternoon, guests are free to choose their favourite large, prestigious Champagne House for a tour and a flute or two of their Champagnes. There are several options subject to your preference and availabilities, including Mercier, GH Mumm, Pommery, Ruinart and Taittinger. Please note that a number of the more exclusive estates do not tend to receive visitors at weekends and some of them do not receive visitors at all. We would be pleased to discuss the various options with you and contact the individual estates accordingly.

Outline Itinerary

• Upon arrival in Reims, check into your preferred room at Château les Crayères.
• Afternoon and evening at leisure.
• In your travel pack will be a comprehensive list of recommended restaurants. We would be pleased to reserve you a table at any of these for dinner.
• After breakfast, a luxury chauffeured vehicle will pick you up from the Château and escort you to Champagne Veuve Clicquot. Your time here will consist of:
• A discovery of the Veuve Clicquot vineyards in the Grand Cru villages of Bouzy and Verzy.
• A stop at the Clos Colin, a very special parcel where the red grapes needed for the production of La Grande Dame Rosé are produced.
• A tour of the impressive Veuve Clicquot cellars.
• A tasting session of the Yellow Label and of the Prestige Cuvée, la Grande Dame, as well as le Grande Dame rosé.
• You will be taken back to the Château at the end of the afternoon.
• In the evening, a gastronomic six course tasting dinner will be served at the Château’s Michelin starred restaurant, “Le Parc”. Dinner will be accompanied by a bottle of premium Champagne, a bottle of Bordeaux AOC wine, water and coffee.

Day Three (Optional)

• After breakfast, your chauffeur will return and accompany you on a second day of tours. Your tour day will comprise of:
• An exclusive Dom Pérignon tour, with a flute of Dom Pérignon.
• Glasses of three Champagnes, accompanied by a gourmet platter of local delicacies in Hautvillers.
• A visit to a small, family-run producer of Grand Cru Champagnes for a tour and Sabrage.
• A visit to your preferred large, prestigious Champagne House for a tour of their cellars and glasses of one or two of their Champagnes.
• In the evening, a three course dinner with drinks will be served in the Château’s gourmet brasserie.
• After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the hotel.

Arriving in the region, you'll start your day with the scenic Route du Champagne. It winds among the vineyards and picturesque villages, offering one charming bucolic landscape after another. We'll go to the Valley of the Marne to see some of the most famous Grandes Maisons de Champagne in existence - such as: Bollinger, Gosset, Deutz, and more. En route, the countryside is resplendent with beautiful Grand and Premier Cru villages like Ay, Hautvillers, Bouzy, etc.

Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron, the house played an important role in establishing champagne as a favored drink of Bourgeoisie and Nobility throughout Europe. After his sudden death in 1805, his widow ( veuve in French) Barbe Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot became the first woman to operate a Champagne house, to obvious lasting and great success. She also revolutionized the techniques of the Champagne-making process, and was therefore named “La Grande Dame de la Champagne”.

The Foureur family is vine grower since the 16 th  century and producing Champagne under their own brand since 1875. They are located in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. They own 4 hectares of grand cru vineyard, especially reknown for their Pinot Noir. This allowed them to produce 20 000 bottles, mainly sold in France. Far from the commercial aspect of the Grandes Maisons you will discover here the ancestral methods for the making process of champagne and meet passionate people.

The House was created in 1875 in the little village of Damery located in the Marne’s Valley. Laure and David are proud to be today the Fifth generation of wine makers. They are focus on the respect of both traditions and ancestral working methods.  Their champagne Plaisir d’Antan is for instance a good example of this philosophy: Made of a 100 percent Chardonnay, this Cuvée is aged in oak casks as it was before the creation of stainless steel vats giving a unique taste to the Champagne. They work as independant wine makers with 12 hectares of vineyards and produce 80 000 bottles.

We even had to change our plan and she made it seamless. Thomas was our guide on the day of the tour. He was phenomenal. He knew so much about World War II and the battles that took place. We visited all the beaches and cliffs and bunkers. We also visited the museum. And we got into an actual German bunker. The cemetery where 2500 American soldiers are buried, was extremely moving. She really wanted to visit Normandy so I looked for the best tour I could find, in the form of a day trip from Paris. I hit the jackpot with Link Paris for 3 reasons. 1. I wanted to take the train and not a bus. It is a long day but they gave us great info on how to catch the early train (6:15 AM) from Gare St Lazare up to Bayeux. 2. It is a small group tour, limited to 8 people which means a much higher quality experience, versus being on a bus with 60 other people. Our tour wasn't nearly as cheap as the larger bus tour from Paris but as I always say, you get what you pay for. Actually when we arrived in Bayeux and were met by our guide we only had a total of 4 people in our van for the tour that day. Such a quality experience. And 3, our guide Alex, who picked us up from the train, was Awesome, so personable, engaging and completely enthusiastic about sharing his vast knowledge of WWII and all the sights we visited that day. Our driver was Fred Lis, who was absolutely fantastic. To keep this as short as possible: Fred texted us the day before our tour, confirming that he would pick us up at our hotel, and the time…a great feeling when you are in a foreign country and have paid in advance. His car was totally comfortable. His personality and demeanor were warm, friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Fred coordinated the day, which allowed us to see Omaha, Gold and Juno beaches, as well as Pointe Du Hoc and the American cemetery. He also had a wonderful recommendation for a lunch spot, where the food was local to the area, and the environment was ideal. Fred knew the best times to hit the various spots, in order to avoid any crowds. He also knew the ideal time to finish our last stop, in order to avoid Paris traffic upon our return as best as possible. With all that said, we never felt rushed. Fred was very knowledgeable about various things that occurred at each location, as well as some war strategies…he was truly the perfect tour guide. We had looked forward to visiting Normandy for a long time, and to finally have gotten there, it couldn’t have been any better than being in the company of and led by Fred. Did not go on the Alsace Village trip so cannot comment on that, but did end up receiving my refund. Original review: If I could give no stars I would. I booked a tour with this company for the Alsace Villages which they emailed me saying they had to cancel it (which is fine). However they would not refund me the amount I had already paid, saying that it was not deducted from my card. I double checked with my bank and it was definitely taken, I paid with a credit card. I have since emailed them back with evidence of it being deducted and on my credit card statement, and have been met with complete silence. Definitely avoid at all costs, and go with a bigger more well known company. I have serious regret booking with them. I'm out a thousand dollars and no tour as well. Excellent local guides both days. Super knowledgeable and organized. Domaine De Bayeux hotel stunning. Note there is the historical manor no AC and the brand new building with AC.
