While in Paris you will have the choice between two activities. First, you can choose to visit the awe-inspiring Sacré-Coeur Basilica, the second highest point of the city after the Eiffel Tower, and enjoy free time to explore the area. Or, you can choose to Learn about the neighborhood’s famous artists and writers at the Musée de Montmartre, a historic 17th century house that gives you a glimpse into the artistic side of town

Prolong your stay in the French capital with a 2-night hosted post extension. Step back in time during a locally guided walking tour centered on the French Revolution, enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Paris as you please, indulge in the local cuisine during an included dinner at a local Brasserie and slide into the backseat of a vintage retro car to cruise along chic boulevards peering up at the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe from the car’s open roof.

  • Paris - Extension Begins
  • This morning, step back in time during a walking tour centered on the French Revolution. Your expert guide evokes the shadows of Marie Antoinette and Robespierre as you journey back to the tumultuous years of 1789-1799. Visit landmarks such as Place de la Bastille (where the infamous prison once stood) and Place de la Concorde where the revolutionary government erected a guillotine in the square (and where King Louis XVI was executed on 21 January 1793). The afternoon is yours to explore more of the French capital independently. Perhaps you’ll stroll through the Beaubourg neighborhood and take in the whimsical moving fountain of the Centre Pompidou for Contemporary Art. Dedicated to the former French President Georges Pompidou, this building represents the first major example of 'inside-out' architecture with its structural, mechanical and circulation systems exposed on the exterior of the building. Today this eclectic building synthetizes the blend of tradition and innovation that distinguishes Paris.
  • The day is yours to explore more of the French capital on your own. Perhaps you’ll wander over to the Left Bank of the Seine River and plunge into the bohemian atmosphere of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood and the Latin Quarter. Or visit one of the city’s iconic museums, such as the highly acclaimed Musée D’Orsay. The former railroad station now houses some of the world’s best impressionist art. This evening, celebrate the end of your extended stay in Paris with dinner in a local brasserie* before sliding into the backseat of a vintage retro car, cruising through the chic boulevards and peering up at the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe from the car’s open roof.
  • Paris - Depart for Home
  • Wish France adieu as you return home.

Live the Parisian life in style as you join your Tour Manager on a captivating excursion to the Opera District. Take advantage of an immersive experience with Parisian luxury and peruse famous name brand stores to embrace the glam of haute couture fashion. Pass by the stunning opera house of Palais Garnier before getting a glimpse into the history of perfume making at Fragonard Museum. Indulge your senses and scan the ancient artisan bottles, learning about the art of creating the perfect scent. A specialist will help you choose your own cologne, providing an irreplaceable souvenir from your Parisian getaway. Continue on to the famous Galeries Lafayette – a well-known French department store that features a mesmerizing stained glass dome. You might even be able to get a closer look at the dome on the glass skywalk, which reaches out directly below the center of the dome. Cap off the adventure with a trip to the rooftop to admire the city from above. With a drink in hand, marvel at the breathtaking views of the Opera House & Eiffel tower. Enjoy free time to explore the neighborhood and shop before heading back to the hotel by metro.

Join us for a spectacular evening in one of Paris’s most beloved institutions, the famous Paradis Latin. Situated in a building associated with Napoleon and rebuilt by Gustav Eiffel himself, the Paradis has been running here since 1889. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner with wine, then bring on the champagne and let the show commence!

Take a walk down to the Ile de la Cité to snap a picture of the façade of the awe-inspiring Notre Dame.

► Travel to Paris in March, The ULTIMATE GUIDE

' src=

If you are thinking of traveling to Paris in March, here you will find the answer to all your questions.

Find out what the weather is like, what to pack, what to see, and what to do in Paris in March to make your trip unique and unforgettable.

Paris is a beautiful city to visit at any time of the year, but it comes alive, especially in spring.

March is a great month to visit Paris , as the weather is gradually getting warmer and the days are getting longer. The presence of hordes of tourists is not so frequent, and you will be able to enjoy the city with more tranquility.

There are many things to see and do in Paris in March , from visiting landmarks to exploring the city’s many museums.

March is also an excellent time to visit Disneyland Paris: the crowds are smaller, and the weather is usually cooperative.

No matter what you do, you will have a great time in Paris in March! I share the main attractions and best tours in Paris with you in this guide.

Let’s get to it!

  • Check Out: The Best Things to do in Paris in Spring

What is the Weather Like in Paris in March?

In March, the city wakes up from winter and timidly begins to give way to spring.

During the first days of the month, the weather can be more unpredictable, and the cold continues to make itself felt.

Although there have been years where it has snowed a little during these first days of March, it is not the most usual.

What is more typical is that there are isolated episodes of rain , so be prepared.

By the middle and end of the month, the clouds move away, and the rains stop coming so often.

The mornings and evenings are usually cold, but the presence of the sun during the day makes the weather more temperate and pleasant for walking and visiting.

  • Minimum temperatures: 3°C
  • Maximum temperatures: 19°C
  • Average temperatures: between 5°C and 13°C

Regarding rainfall, March is one of the driest months of the year . Rainfall is not very regular, although there may be isolated showers , especially at the beginning of the month.

  • Rainfall: 31 millimeters
  • The average number of rainy days: is between 5 and 9 days.

Outfit Planner

EXTRA TIP : plan what you will take in advance so you take everything you need and do not have to make extra expenses at the destination. You can download the PDF here; the price is up to you!

What to Wear to Paris in March?

You should bring warm clothes if you travel during the month’s first days . A good jacket, even better if it is waterproof, comfortable and warm shoes, a pair of gloves, something for the neck and maybe a hat.

Also, it is essential to remember that isolated showers may occur at the beginning of the month, so carrying an umbrella would be a good idea.

For the middle and end of the month , you must remember that the weather in Paris in March shows a large thermal amplitude .

Vero with an umbrella in the background the Eiffel tower with gray clouds

So during the mornings and evenings, you will probably wear warmer clothes, and during the day, when the sun is shining, you will be able to take off some clothes.

Also, as sunny days are more likely, don’t forget to wear sunglasses by the end of the month.

If you are missing something, you can always get it in the city, but with these small recommendations, you already know what to bring to Paris in March.

What to See in Paris in March?

There is a lot to do and see in Paris. The world’s most romantic city knows how to seduce the traveler.

This list of the best places to visit and must-see activities in Paris in March will help you not to miss anything in this fantastic city that enchants its visitors.

Eiffel Tower

As it could not be otherwise, we start with the classic and exceptional Eiffel Tower .

The famous engineer Gustave Eiffel built the tower for the Paris Universal Exposition in 1889.

And although at first it was not very successful and was not very popular among Parisians, today it is the distinctive symbol of Paris and the most visited monument in the world, with more than 7 million people a year.

Eiffel tower magnolias

To go up, you have three options:

  • You can walk up to the second floor (674 steps). It takes approximately 30-45 minutes and is the most economical option.
  • You can take the elevator to the second floor or the top. The price to climb to the top is approximately 10€ more.
  • You can also combine both ways, and you can walk up to the second floor and continue from there by elevator to the top.

If you choose to walk up to freely enjoy this architectural work, you have to consider that it is not accessible for very young children or people with reduced mobility.

You can get your tickets online, and this is what I recommend to avoid wasting time at the ticket office. Here you will find updated schedules and rates .

It is best to go up at sunset to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the entire city by day and night.

  • 30 things to do in Paris for free

Moulin Rouge

The Moulin Rouge is the most famous cabaret of all time, the birthplace of the signature can-can dance, and has hosted such renowned artists as Edith Piaf, Frank Sinatra, and Liza Minelli.

Seeing a show at the Moulin Rouge would be the ideal way to visit. Although tickets are not always very economical, it is definitely an exceptional experience.

You can check the price and all the information here .

Moulin Rouge, Paris by night

If you decide not to see a show this time, I still recommend that you go to see it from the outside and take some pictures .

However, remember that this mythical place leaves a lot to be desired during the day. At night, with the lights on, the Moulin Rouge conveys a bit of its true magic from the outside.

Montmartre district

With its bohemian air and street artists, the Montmartre district is one of the most beautiful in Paris and a must-see any time of the year.

The best way to visit it is with this Free Tour of Montmartre .

With a guide who speaks English , you will visit places like the building where Vincent Van Gogh lived, the first workshop of Picasso and the Café Deux Moulins, and scenes of several scenes of the movie Amélie.

Maison Rose de Montmartre

In addition, the free tour ends right in front of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica , one of the city’s most beautiful places to visit and not to be missed.

Here are all the guided Free Tours you can do in Paris

Disneyland Paris in March

March is a perfect month to make a trip to Disneyland Paris. The weather is usually good, and the lines at the rides tend to go faster because the groups of visitors are smaller.

The Disneyland Paris complex houses two parks: Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios . On the excursion, you can visit only one or both parks, as you prefer.

The parks are not that big and since there are not many people in March you will have enough time to visit both parks.

The magic of Disney can make you live in a completely different Paris; this excursion is highly recommended.

Disney Paris Castle

Bois de Vincennes

Bois de Vincennes is a Parisian park located in the east of the city, on the edge of the 12th arrondissement. It can be explored on foot or by bike and has relaxation, fun, and sports facilities.

Among the extensive forests of this green lung, you can visit the medieval royal palace, Château de Vincennes , and its 19th-century dungeons.

paris tours march 2023

Next to the Château is the flowery Parc Floral de Paris, its wonderful Jardin des Papillons (butterflies), and the Aquarium Tropical. At this educational and recreational facility, you can see multicolored fish and learn about marine life.

Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter gets its name from university students who spoke Latin until the French Revolution. It is the center of academic life in Paris thanks to its historic Sorbonne University .

Today it is a very lively neighborhood where you can find student bars, restaurants with good prices, flea markets, and second-hand stores.

Shakespeare Paris Bookstore

In addition to enjoying the atmosphere in the Latin Quarter, you can visit the Pantheon of Paris , which houses the remains of illustrious figures of the city, such as Voltaire, Victor Hugo, and Marie Curie, among many others.

Also in this neighborhood is the beautiful Shakespeare & Company bookstore , where you can find bargains.

The Paris Marathon

A mythical race takes place between March and April in the city: the Paris Marathon.

This race attracts 55,000 athletes from all over the world each year who run over nearly 40 kilometers of asphalt and cobblestones in the French capital. The race crosses many of Paris’s most beautiful monuments and must-see tourist sites.

If you are not trained enough to run more than 40 kilometers, you can always enjoy watching this unique event in Paris!

Picnic on the Banks of the Seine

As March progresses and the days become warmer and sunnier, the Seine River becomes prominent in Paris.

Having a picnic lunch, eating an authentic croissant or having a drink, with unforgettable views of Paris, doesn’t sound bad at all.

Some ideal places for picnics are the Parc Rives de Seine which stretches from the Pont des Arts to the Eiffel Tower on the left bank and from the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor footbridge to the Bastille on the right bank.

Picnic on the banks of the Seine

St. Patrick’s Day

March 17 is a lively date on the Parisian calendar because it is the day of St. Patrick’s Day, the famous Irish holiday .

English-speaking residents and French locals, accompanied by people from all over the world, take the opportunity to meet, enjoy, and in many cases, toast with an authentic Guinness beer.

These are some of the best options to enjoy St. Kitts and Nevis. Patrick’s day in Paris:

  • Guinness Tavern, Rue des Lombards 31.
  • The Cork & Cavan, Quai de Jemappes 70.
  • O’Sullivans by the Mill, Boulevard de Clichy 92.
  • Le Comptoir Irlandais, Boulevard Voltaire 157.
  • Corcoran’s Irish Bar Sacre Coeur, Rue Foyatier 11.
  • Visit the Irish Cultural Center, which organizes events such as live music, performances, and dances every year. In addition, the Irish Cultural Center holds several family-friendly celebrations such as parades, face painting, and games if you are traveling with children.
  • Head to Disneyland Paris and enjoy an authentic parade with all the production that Disney has to offer.

Women’s Carnival

The Women’s Carnival, also known as the Day of the Washerwomen for being the ones who organized the festivities, is a famous festival to see in Paris in March.

Every year around 4,000 women or men dressed as women parade through the city .

The theme of the parade changes yearly, and the route usually starts from the Gambetta metro station and ends at the place de la République.

Access is free , and anyone who wishes to participate may do so.

  • The Palace of Versailles is an excellent visit in Spring

Arc de Triomphe

If the Eiffel Tower has any rival in the city, it is the Arc de Triomphe. A magnificent monument built in 1836 at Napoleon Bonaparte’s request to commemorate his great victory at the battle of Austerlitz in 1805.

It is inspired by the Arch of Titus in Rome and is today the best-known Arc de Triomphe in the world.

triumphal arch with tulips and blue sky

With a height of 50 meters, it is located in the center of the largest traffic circle in the world. To cross, you have to use stairs that are underground.

If you wish, you can go up to the viewpoint at the Arc de Triomphe, which offers wonderful views of the Champs Elysees and Paris in general. In addition, under the arch is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier .

You can book your ticket to go up to the viewpoint without queuing up here .

Cherry Blossoms in Paris

Cherry blossoms bloom in Paris between March and April with the arrival of spring, and with their pink color, they adorn the city and conquer photographers and travelers.

As nice as it is to be surprised by the cherry blossoms as you walk through the French capital, if you have little time, I recommend some specific places where you can see them:

  • Champ de Mars, a green space not to be missed to see the first buds.
  • Trocadero Gardens, with a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower in the background.
  • Around the Notre Dame Cathedral, especially on the south side.
  • After seeing Notre Dame, you can cross the Seine and visit the Quai de Montebello to see some beautiful flowers by the water.
  • Luxembourg Gardens, always beautiful and even more in bloom.
  • Tuileries Garden, near the Louvre Museum.
  • Palais Royal, in its beautiful garden also bloom magnolias and daffodils.
  • In the central courtyard of the Petit Palais, even though there are not many of them, they have an exquisite bloom.
  • Jardin des Plantes of the National Museum of Natural History.
  • Place Gabriel Pierné, at the end of Rue de Seine.

cherry blossoms in the background Eiffel tower, photos of Paris in march

Fortunately, there are so many places where you can see cherry blossoms that Paris has little to envy to cities like Tokyo or Kyoto, where the flowering of the sakura tree is a feast.

What to See in Paris in March if it Rains?

Visiting some of the splendid museums in Paris is always a good option when it rains, but here are some more ideas:

Hello! Carnaval des femmes will take part at 19 march. So in this time may i have issues about metro, rer or buses? I will come to paris at 16 march and i will return at 19 march. I will go to the airport about 11-12am, will i have issues ?

Hi Sophie, It is not expected that there will be any problem with the metro for that date, but it is better to look at it a few days before. For a few weeks, we have been having strikes on the trains, hopefully, it will be resolved soon!

Six conclusions from 2023 Tirreno-Adriatico and Paris-Nice

Paris-nice 2023 results.

Stage 1 : Tim Merlier (Soudal-Quickstep) won the first stage of the 2023 Paris-Nice in a bunch sprint, taking his fourth sprint victory of the season in the process.

Tadej Pogacar gained a vital six-second time bonus on a minor climb of the Côte de Milon-la-Chapelle, continuing his Tour de France rivalry with Jonas Vingegaard by starting the race in fourth place in the general classification.

Stage 2 : A crash disrupted the lead-out trains of what should have been a stage for the pure sprinters. Instead, Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) powered to the stage win and leader's jersey.

Stage 3 : A new format for the team time trial failed in its goal of breaking up the Jumbo-Visma team's dominance on stage 3 of Paris-Nice . The Dutch superteam kept three riders together, with leader Jonas Vingegaard crossing the line first to stop the clock at 33:55.

However, coming in as the last team, EF Education-EasyPost blew out their time trial specialists to launch Magnus Cort into the finishing stretch and the Dane gained just enough time to snatch the race lead, with Jumbo-Visma stacking the top 10.

Stage 4 : Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) made his statement on the stage 4 summit finish at Paris-Nice. He outsprinted David Gaudu atop the 6.7% climb atop La Loge des Gardes and moved into the overall lead by 10 seconds over the Frenchman.  Vingegaard is in third place but some 44 seconds down.

Stage 5 : Pogačar remained in the race lead after the sprint stage to Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, where Olav Kooij (Jumbo-Visma) powered past Pedersen to take the win .

Stage 6: High winds forced organisers to cancel the stage from Tourves to La Colle-sur-Loup

Stage 7: Pogačar extended his race lead, out-sprinting David Gaudu and Jonas Vingegaard on the queen stage to the Col de la Couillole.

Stage 8: Tadej Pogačar completed his utter domination of the 2023 Paris-Nice , escaping on the final climb of the last stage, the Col d'Èze, and soloing in for the stage win and sealing the overall victory.

A trip to admire the beautiful scenery of the Rhône valley (port-to-port cruise) Tour

  • River Cruise

A trip to admire the beautiful scenery of the Rhône valley (port-to-port cruise)

This was my first rivercruise, very happy with CroisiEurope, the ship and cabins where clean and efficient, the meals where very nice with the wine selection. It was very pleasant going tru the locks and watching the scenery as you float along. Due to the weather we were not able to sail into Martigues, however; we were transported by bus to Martigues, which was better then not going at all. OK. A few of us felt the stop at Port St. Louis can be eliminated, there's not much to see at this place, perhaps a good place to join up for those going on the excursion, but was not a point of any interest. The town of Arles was great, spent ample time there, however; disappointed with the time able to spend at Avignon....just a few hours, a half or full day would be more appropriate to be able to tour without rushing. Be nice to have a more detailed itenerary provided daily about arrival & departure of the ship and anticipated time be able to have at each stop. The night entertainment was minimal, first night Bingo game, then another night dance had a quiz..that was designed to encourage the groupe to dance. The hit was on the before last night, a flamenco dancer and two guitar players performed that was very upbeat and was enjoyed by everyone, they put on a good show. We cruised from Oct 03-06...the weather was good to tour the villages, just a bit cool/windy to spend lots of time on the sun deck...a few more degrees would have been needed to feel real comfortable sitting out which would be fabulous. Overall, happy we got to experience doing a rivercruise.

We loved the trip. Had excellent weather and a wonderful, organized, personable, and knowledgeable tour guide (Corinne). I really enjoyed the small group. I came away with a whole new (positive) picture of Paris as a result. The hotel was a small one, the breakfast was satisfactory and the sites were beautiful. This was our second Eskapas trip and we'll be seeing you again in another location!

We loved the itinerary and the extra sites we visited, also. Our CEO Alexiane did well. We would have like to hear more history of the places we saw. Alexiane took care to provide for the needs of individuals on our tour. That was especially helpful for me. Our bus driver, Frederick, was excellent and caring, too.

What people love about france tours in march.

the cabine room was a good size, the food was outstanding, land based tours were interesting and the service was fine
I was very pleased with all aspects of my trip ie. hotel, tour guides and transportation provides for the excursions as well as my driver to the airport on my date of departure. My only compliant is with the transportation from the airport on the date of my arrival since he left because I wasn’t able to make it to the arrival lounge within an hour for meetup because of the time it took from departing the plane, going through customs and waiting on my baggage. The driver did try to contact me but it was over WhatsApp and do t receive notifications since I rarely if ever use that app and Eskapas didn’t let me know to expect communications through that app. Other than the initial dissatisfaction with that and having to get other transportation as well as an added expense for an Uber I was very satisfied with the rest of the experience.

Paris in March (2024 Guide): What to do, Events & What’s On

By: Author Sophie Nadeau

Posted on Last updated: 24th June 2023

Categories Paris

Last Updated on 24th June 2023 by Sophie Nadeau

The latter half of this month signals the beginning of Spring with the Equinox, while the 1st of March indicates the dawn of the Meteorological spring. Whatever your definition of the start of the spring season, one thing is clear: warmer weather is on the horizon, the city is brightening up and the days are getting longer. There’s plenty of things to do in Paris come March time , and so here’s your go-to-guide for Paris in March :

Montmartre Photo Diary: Photos and where to find the best spots in Montmartre, Paris, France (18e arrondissement of Paris)

There are no major holidays or closing days in Paris during March. This means that you won’t have to watch out for any unusual closures, apart from the usual Sundays in Paris when a number of things either are closed for the day or operate at limited opening hours.

Psst. If you’re planning to visit Paris, then we’ve created a gorgeous 100+ page eBook full of beautiful photos and insider tips by a local. Included you’ll find hidden gems, arrondissement guides, walking tours, suggested itineraries, and more. Find more information here.

Square René-Viviani: A Parisian Park on a Former Cemetery in the Latin Quarter, Paris, France

Paris Weather in March

Clothing essentials, running shoes/ comfortable sneakers, a warm scarf, a warm coat, go hunting for cherry blossoms, head to a park and soak up some flower power, curl up with a book, visit the annual paris book fair (moved to april), celebrate st patrick’s day on the 17th of march, attend le mondial du tatouage (tattoo festival), paris déco off, enjoy a seine river dinner cruise.

  • Café Mericourt, 22 Rue de la Folie Méricourt

Café Consulat, 18 Rue Norvins

Café de flore, 172 boulevard saint-germain, café kitsuné, 51 galerie de montpensier, château de vaux le vicomte, where to stay in paris, what to wear when exploring europe, enjoyed reading about the best things to do in paris in march pin it now, read it again later.

Only one word can suitably describe the Parisian weather in March, and that word is erratic! One day it might be raining, while the next the sun will be shining, and the birds singing! Sometimes, you can experience several seasons in one day, and so you should be prepared for that!

The temperature in the City of Love during March hovers around 5-12 degrees Celsius, with the actual average at around 10. Showers come and go, and there’s always the possibility of snow, hail and cold rain!

Though snow in March in Paris isn’t very common, in 2018 there was a fairly large amount of snow, which led to the City of Light being blanketed under a carpet of the white stuff for several days. As such, prepare for the possibility of snow during your Spring sojourn to Paris.

Best Museums in Paris you should know about: top 10 culture hubs in the city of lights, France

What to wear in Paris in March

As is clear from the weather, March is a month of extreme highs, lows and everything in between. As a result, the best way for you to pack if you’re planning a visit to the French capital this month is to go for layers and make sure that you always have an umbrella or waterproof at the ready. After all, while outdoors can be cold, the metro can get quite toasty, especially if you’re on there to travel a distance!

Layering outfits that still look stylish is an art form that Parisians have mastered well. Think monochrome wardrobe so that none of your outfit choices clash and everything can be worn in combination with one another. I love the dresses from this brand.

For a week in Paris, I’d recommend one pair of jeans, two or three tops, one skirt, three dresses, and plenty of tights! I’d also consider bringing multiple sweaters and cardigans so that you can wrap up warm for wandering around, before removing a layer when you enter an eatery or a museum.

You don’t want to wear snow boots, nor do you want to wear open-toed sandals. Instead, I find that wearing running shoes strikes the perfect balance between fashionability and practicality.

After all, those cobbled lanes don’t translate into easy walking ground if you’re wearing high heels, etc.! I always wear Keds and find they last long and go well with pretty much everything I own.

You can never go wrong by bringing a scarf along with you on your travels. Pack the right one, and you’ll have something to double up as a blanket on the aeroplane, wear when you’re cold, and keep your shoulders warm when it gets chilly in the evening and you’re out for dinner.

I’ve had my North face coat for a couple of years now, and it never lets me down. Warm to look at and even warmer to wear, I bought a size up from what I normally wear so that I can keep extra cosy and fit a sweater underneath! I find that my coat is also pretty water resistant , but if it’s set to rain a lot, I’ll bring an umbrella as the coat is definitely not waterproof.

What to do in Paris in March

If you’re a fan of shorter queues for museums, longer days and all the cherry blossom, then Paris in March is the perfect time to visit the city of lights for you! If you’re lucky, then you might also get to see the last of the magnolia in Paris too.

One of the very best early spring activities is to bring your camera (I use the Sony A6000 ) and go where your feet take you in search of some pops of pink. Some of the very best places to spot cherry blossoms include Notre Dame, outside Shakespeare and Co, and around the Eiffel Tower.

Cherry blossom surrounding the Eiffel Tower on a sunny day

In March, after a long and dreary winter, spring blooms (and not just cherry blossoms) are abundant. There are plenty of crocus blooms to spy as well, usually during the first week of March in Paris.

Wander around some of Paris’ most extensive parks, rent a boat on the Bois de Boulogne, or head to Park de Saint-Cloud for one of the best panoramas over the city.

bois de boulogne boat rental

If you’re headed to Paris in the early spring, then chances are that it will rain at some point or another. Luckily, there are plenty of rainy day activities in Paris for those who don’t want to spend much time outside. There are even plenty of Anglophone bookshops in the French capital for those who are searching for a rare or unique title in English.

The Abbey Bookshop, Latin Quarter, Paris, France: façade

Speaking of books, a yearly book fair is held in the French capital and it’s said to be one of the most popular book-related festivals in the world. In mid-March, all manner of books and bibliophiles descend on the city to celebrate written word!

If you were thinking of heading to another European capital to celebrate the Irish holiday (unless you were actually headed to  Ireland), then think again! There are plenty of Irish pubs in Paris where you can enjoy a good pint and catch up with friends.

During the evening of the 17th of March, famous Parisian monuments, such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Moulin Rouge will be illuminated in green!

2020 saw the 10th edition of the annual world tattoo festival in paris. Created in 1999 and then paused for over a decade before being reactivated in 2013, the event sees over 400 tattoo artists from across the world gathering for shows and special events.

The event will take place in Paris in the middle of March at La Grande Halle de La Villette in the 19th arrondissement of the city. Exact times and dates are not yet confirmed for the next spring edition in 2024.

Parc de Saint-Cloud: one of the most beautiful gardens in Europe and a green park in Paris, France

As you might imagine from the name, the Paris Déco Off is a design and decorator festival which takes place in the City of Light at the end of March. For a select few days, vendors of furniture, paint, wall hangings, and other decorating furniture host open days and other events.

There are several options available, including this  Early Evening Dinner Cruise on the River Seine.  Finally, for those with time constraints who wish to simply see the sights of Paris on the water,  this 1-Hour Illuminations River Cruise  is short and sweet!

Best Cafés and Bars in Paris I’m loving this month!

With the arrival of longer days comes the promise of sitting out en terrace and watching the sunset as it transforms the sky into candy colours and the Haussmannian architecture is lit by a warm glow.

Café Mericourt,  22 Rue de la Folie Méricourt

Situated on a road of the same name, Café Mericourt is the sister shop of ever-famous nearby Café Oberkampf. Serving some of the best speciality coffees in town, and deliciously naughty pancakes, this coffee house is the perfect place to wrap up warm after a long photo walk or morning exploring the city.

An all-time favourite with locals and tourists alike, you can’t go wrong by dedicating a couple of hours to wandering the cobbled lanes of Montmartre. This is especially true in March when ivy trails cover the houses and it’s possible to sit en terrace and enjoy your coffee while watching Parisian life go by. I personally love Café Consulat which is right in the middle of all of the action and is absolutely beautiful to photograph!

Snow in Paris: Magical Photos of Paris in the Winter & FAQ

In the chic and luxury district of Paris, Saint-Germain-des-Prés one coffee shop has been serving sumptuous food and well-brewed coffee to customers for well over a century.

Café de Flore has served clientele from celebrities, to film stars, to some of the best writers France has to offer. Wander in at any given moment and you’ll be greeted with a mouth-watering wine list and friendly staff- Parisian café perfection!

The coffee shop of Kitsuné is located in an enviable position in the very heart of Palais Royal, which is incidentally a great place to spot some spring blossoms when they first appear in March.

Café Kistunsé produces some of the best matcha lattés in Paris, and so you can get a takeaway cup in order to admire the blossoms en plein air (see a picture of Palais Royal below!)

Best Day trips from Paris in March

Of course, warmer weather signals longer days, ergo it’s time to take some day trips from the city! Spring is the perfect time to take trips from the City of Light as there are fewer tourists around, and yet everything is open once more (many museums and French Châteaux shut their doors to the public during the winter months) . Go out in search of spring blossoms, French Châteaux, or simply some respite from the hustle and bustle of Parisian life…

This pretty and often forgotten town is located an hour or so from Paris. It’s near the iconic city of Compiegne and Senlis itself is filled with eateries, traces of Joan of Arc and all the history you could ever ask for. If you’re looking to head somewhere off the beaten tourist track, then Senlis is the place for you!

Cathédrale Notre Dame de Senlis

Blossom, cherry blossom, and more blossom. Sceuax in Spring makes for the perfect day trip from Paris and is located at the end of the ReR B, making it incredibly easy to reach.

Wander around the cobbled lanes of the town, or enjoy a relax in the cherry blossom orchard in Château de Sceaux’s castle grounds. Please note that the orchard is free to visit, but sometimes the flowers don’t bloom until as late as April!

sceaux

The easy half day trip from Paris to Meaux is full of outdoor activities and so is best attempted when the weather is a little warmer than in the winter and the days are slightly longer. Filled with ecclesiastical buildings and its own brand of brie and mustard, Meaux is a great day out for food lovers and history buffs alike.

Best things to do in Meaux, Île de France, day trip from Paris, France: meaux river

After a closure during the winter months for preservation and renovation purposes, the glorious Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte that was once admired by a King so much that he confiscated it for himself, is one more open to the public. The Chateau opens in mid-march and makes for the perfect day out from the city with kids, with a partner, or simply on your own!

Charm and several beautiful communal guest spaces including a stunning bar and restaurant, other highlights of the hotel include breakfast options, WiFi, and room service.  Check prices and availability here.

Mid-range boutique stay: Hôtel Fabric : As you might gather from its name, Hôtel Fabric is set against the backdrop of a former textile factory and simply oozes charm. Beautiful and with friendly staff, this four-star hotel is welcoming and is located just a fifteen-minute walk away from Le Marais area of the city.  Check prices and availability here.

Mid-range: Hotel Petit Paris:  Not far from the Luxembourg Gardens and close to the Latin Quarter of the city, this boutique hotel is in the perfect position for exploring Paris on foot. From here, it’s easy to explore top Parisian attractions such as the Paris Pantheon, as well as the Saint Germain des Prés area of the city. Check availability and rates here!

Affordable chic: Hôtel Chopin : Located within one of the covered passages of Paris, in the 9th arrondissement , and close to all the action (the nearby Grands Boulevards are full of bars and restaurants), Hôtel Chopin is a small hotel offering affordable rooms. Amenities include a restaurant and spa on site. Check prices and availability here.

Budget hostel: Generator Hostel : Those in search of an affordable option, Paris has a number of hostels which are fairly conveniently located. This hostel is situated close to the lively area of Canal Saint Martin and offers mixed-sex and female-only dorms. Check prices and availability here.

In the summer, you can’t go wrong by pairing a cute midi dress with classic white tennis shoes for a laid-back smart casual look that’s just as chic for walking around a city’s cobbled lanes as it is for wandering coastal paths. I love this dress and have it in several colour ways. In terms of tennis shoes, this is my go-to shoe.

When it comes to winter in Europe, most places (with the exception of a few islands) can get pretty cold and so warm layers is a must. I find that cute ankle boots like these ones are the perfect mix of practical meets cute.

Shoulder seasons (spring and summer) in Europe tend to come with a mix of rainy and sunny days and so, again, layers are a must. Trench coats and sneakers are the best uniform to explore the continent in.

Finally, a cross-body bag like these ones is a must. I personally use a crossbody bag  by this brand  and love its shape, size, and versatility. As well as being convenient and compact, it’s one of the safest ways to transport your valuables, all the while looking chic. I also recommend bringing along a travel adapter  like this one  so you can charge all of your electronics during your stay!

2024 Zurich Classic odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions by model that's nailed 11 majors

Sportsline's proven model simulated the zurich classic of new orleans 2024 10,000 times and revealed its pga golf picks.

rory-mcilroy-pga-golf-getty-images.jpg

Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay look to reclaim some team magic when they pair back up for the 2024 Zurich Classic. The PGA Tour's yearly team event tees off Thursday at TPC Louisiana in New Orleans, and 80 two-man teams will be in attendance for tee off on Thursday. Schauffele and Cantlay were the winning duo back in 2022 and they are the 5-1 favorites on the 2024 Zurich Classic odds board. Should you back this pair of California natives with your 2024 Zurich Classic picks? Or should you back Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry at 8-1 odds?

Will Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala are listed at 11-1 in the lastest 2024 Zurich Classic odds, and Collin Morkiawa and Kurt Kitayama follow at 16-1. Defending Zurich Classic champions Nick Hardy and David Riley are 80-1 longshots to have repeat success. Before making any 2024 Zurich Classic picks, be sure t o see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model correctly predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, and the RBC Heritage this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 11 majors entering the weekend and hit the Masters three straight years. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the Zurich Classic 2024 field is finalized, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard .

Top 2024 Zurich Classic predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Zurich Classic 2024: McIlroy and Lowry, who've combined for 26 wins on the PGA Tour, barely crack the top five. McIlroy is set to play in his fourth consecutive event when he tees off at TPC Louisiana. He's failed to crack the top-10 in seven of his eight starts on the PGA Tour this season, while Lowry has finished T-19 or worse in six of his past eight events.

Both players have struggled mightily on the green this season. McIlroy enters the 2024 Zurich Classic ranked 78th in strokes gained: putting (0.119) and 72nd in putting average (1.758), a big reason why he ranks 98th in scoring average (70.44). Lowry, meanwhile, ranks 99th in strokes gained: putting (-0.012) and 143rd in putts per round (29.38), which doesn't bode well for their chances to finish on top of the leaderboard this week.

Another surprise: Rasmus Højgaard and Nicolai Højgaard, 35-1 longshots, make a strong run at the title. The twin brothers have a much better chance to win it all than their odds imply, so they're a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

The Danish twosome has been making headlines abroad for years now, becoming the first brothers to ever win events in consecutive weeks on the European Tour back in 2021. They are now making noise on the PGA Tour as Nicolai finished second at the Farmers Insurance Open back in January and finished T16 in his first ever Masters appearance earlier this month. Nicolai also played this event last year, so his experience makes the duo an under-the-radar competitor at the 2024 Zurich Classic.  See who else to pick here .

How to make 2024 Zurich Classic picks

The model is also targeting three other teams with odds of 35-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .

Who will win the 2024 Zurich Classic, and which longshots will stun the golfing world? Check out the Zurich Classic 2024 odds below and then visit SportsLine to see the projected Zurich Classic leaderboard , all from the model that's nailed 11 golf majors, including the last three Masters.

Rippling’s Parker Conrad on the company’s new round, new SF lease and, also, its newest critic

paris tours march 2023

Last week, TechCrunch broke the news that the workforce management software outfit Rippling was on the cusp of closing a new, $200 million round of funding at a hefty $13.4 billion valuation led by Coatue. We also reported that the round featured a separate, $670 million secondary component meant to give some of the company’s investors a bigger bite of the company, while letting Rippling’s employees — some of whom joined at the outset in 2016 — cash out some of their shares.

Rippling declined to comment at the time, but in an interview Friday afternoon, founder Parker Conrad confirmed our information, adding that the secondary component is actually a $590 million tender, with $200 million available for employees and $390 million available for seed and other investors.

The round, Rippling’s Series F, is also almost entirely an inside round. Coatue is an earlier investor in Rippling, along with other backers in this round that have been investing all along, including Founders Fund and Greenoaks. The only new member on the cap table is Dragoneer, a growth-stage investment firm in San Francisco.

Of course, we were interested in much more than Rippling’s new fundraise , so while we had Conrad on the phone, we talked turnover. We discussed the company’s new office lease in San Francisco (right now, it’s the second-biggest lease to be signed this year in the city). Conrad also shared why Rippling is relatively “free” of AI. You can hear that full conversation in podcast form ; if you prefer to read it, excerpts of that conversation follow, edited for length.

So why raise this money?

Honestly, it started out as just an employee tender . We wanted to find a way to get some liquidity for early employees, so we went to market, looking really to do about $200 million for employees that wanted to sell some stock. [But] we got a lot of investor interest, so we expanded it first to include a small amount of primary [capital] — mostly as a way to get more ownership for investors that were looking to buy more — and then beyond that, we ended up expanding into seed investors as well.

What does this secondary sale say about your plans to eventually go public? An IPO is a little bit in the distance?

I definitely think it’s a bit in the distance, but it’s not like a way of delaying [anything]. If anything, it’s probably nice if there are people who want to buy a house or [want more cash] because life happens. It’s great to relieve some of that pressure before you go public so that you don’t have tons of people selling as soon as they can in the public markets.

Is this the first time employees have been able to sell some shares?

It’s not. We did something in 2021. But it was smaller and the company was smaller, and it was a long time ago.

Do you worry about employees leaving after cashing out?

One of the things that we talked about internally when we launched it was, we said, ‘Look, the first rule of an employee tender is that you don’t talk about the tender internally or publicly.’ We don’t want to see anyone spiking the football, or something like that. And the second rule of the employee tender is, ‘see the first rule.’ This is a very private, personal thing, and I’m thrilled for everyone [participating]; if this makes a difference in [their] life, that’s great. But it’s not the destination. The game’s not over.

How do you feel about turnover more generally? Some people don’t like to see it; other managers think it’s for the best. Elon Musk seems to be a fan, given the rate at which he turns over his executive team at Tesla.

The executive team at Rippling has been remarkably stable for a long time. A lot of the people on the team are people who I originally hired for those roles. Some of them are people I have long work histories with, even before this company. And certainly I always like to keep people. I mean, every once in a while, there’s an early Rippling employee who leaves the company, and I find it always just emotionally really sad when that happens, even if the company is going to be fine and they want to do something else or, you know, in some cases just kind of hang out. On a personal level, that’s always very difficult for me.

You newly leased 123,000 square feet in San Francisco for local employees, who are now back three days a week. How did you settle on that policy, and do you worry about retention or hiring?

We just think there’s an enormous amount of value of people being in the office together. We were never a company that was going remote. When we went remote temporarily during the pandemic, we said, this is for three weeks, and then we’re going back to the office. Of course, it was unfortunately a lot longer than that, but we were back in the office as soon as we could be. I think it’s possible for some companies to be fully remote, but it’s sort of like playing the game on hard mode. I think it’s a lot easier if people can get together in person; you get a lot done.

In the meantime, workforce management software is super crowded. You’re going up against a company that you famously co-founded and ran , Zenefits. There’s Paycor, Workday, Gusto, to name a few . . .

The weird thing is that Rippling is not actually a [human capital management] HCM company. Everyone who has been building business software believes that the way to build the best business software is to build these extremely narrow, focused deep products. And I think it’s completely wrong. I think the way you build the best business software is to build a really broad product suite of deeply integrated and seamlessly interoperable products. Yes, we have a very strong HR and payroll suite, but we also have an IT and security suite; we have a spend management suite, where we do things like corporate cards and bill pay and expense reimbursements. Actually, we’re using the primary capital that we raised in this round to fund the R&D efforts for a new, fourth cloud that we intend to launch in a completely different area.

The classic example of a company that builds software in this way is Microsoft. Microsoft is like the OG of compound software businesses.

Speaking of Microsoft, what is your “AI strategy”?

We are a company that is relatively free of any AI products right now. There’s some stuff that we’re working on. But I am always very skeptical of things that are, like, super trendy in Silicon Valley. So I can tell you what [our AI strategy] is not. I’m super skeptical of these chatbots. I don’t think anyone wants to chat with their HR software.

I have to ask about a tweet related to our story about your new round. I saw [Benchmark general partner] Bill Gurley chimed in that “ Anti-focus ain’t cheap .” I wasn’t sure if that was laudatory or a dig. Do you know?

I assume given that it came from Bill that it’s a dig. And he’s not wrong that taking this opposite approach is expensive, particularly on the R&D side. If you look at Rippling financially, the thing that really stands out is how we spend on R&D. If you compare us to other HCM competitors — because you talked about the crowded HCM space — they spend an average of 10% of their revenue on R&D. Next year, Rippling is going to spend as much on R&D as [three rival companies] combined, and we have a much lower revenue footprint than the three. It’s definitely true that there’s a huge upfront investment phase in building what we’re building that obviously over time, as a percent of revenue, should come down. So he’s not wrong, but it’s a very explicit part of our strategy. What Bill might not totally understand is the benefit that you get from building software in this way; much higher upfront R&D costs [later result in] much higher sales and marketing efficiency.

Has Bill ever done business with you?

No, I’ve never met Bill. He’s sort of a constant, low-grade antagonist, but I’ve never actually met him.

I know he doesn’t get along very well with Marc Andreessen.

Then Bill and I have that in common. Maybe we should meet up and grab a beer over that particular thing.
