Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.
The funk will never die.
However, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic may be hanging it up for good soon.
Starting July 27, the legendary group will launch their 29-concert ‘Just For The Funk Of It! Final Tour?!?’ that just might be their last.
Yes, we’re not sure if this is it for the 82-year-old and his intergalactic band or not.
And if you’re in New York and New Jersey you thankfully still have a few more chances to see the band live.
Clinton and co. will bring “Flashlight,” “Atomic Dog,” “Give Up The Funk,” “One Nation Under A Groove” and more to Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre on Aug. 18, Montclair, NJ’s Wellmont Theater on Aug. 19 and Westbury, NY’s NYCB Theatre on Oct. 28.
But that’s not all — the band has tickets available for all 29 of their “maybe” final shows this summer, fall and winter.
Some Parliament concerts have rather inexpensive seats ready for purchase too.
At the time of publication, we found some Parliament tickets going for as low as $18 before fees on Vivid Seats.
Now, that’s truly Funkadelic.
To be fair, that is a bit of an outlier. Most shows’ ticket prices start in the $30 to $110 range .
Want to tear the roof off the sucker again?
Here’s everything you need to know and more about the ‘Just For The Funk Of It! Final Tour?!?’
All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.
Parliament Funkadelic 2023 tour schedule
A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available for Parliament’s tour can be found below.
(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)
Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.
Riot Fest 2023
On Sept. 15-17, the annual Riot Fest is returning to Chicago, IL’s Douglass Park for three days of genre-bending fun.
Just a few of the headliners on this year’s bill include Foo Fighters , Death Cab For Cutie , Queens of the Stone Age , The Cure and The Mars Volta .
Yes, none of those acts are like Parliament but they all have something in common — they’re all great live.
Want to go to the three-days extravaganza?
You can pick up 2023 Riot Fest tickets right here, right now .
Parliament Funkadelic set list
With a career spanning over 50 years, it’s hard to whittle a set list down to just a few songs.
Somehow, Parliament does it night in and night out.
For a closer look at what to expect at a live show, here’s what the band played at a recent concert courtesy of Set List FM .
01.) “Dr. Funkenstein”
02.) “Funkentelechy”
03.) “Up for the Down Stroke / Rumpofsteelskin” 04.) “Pole Power” 05.) “Meow Meow”
06.) “Get Low” 07.) “One Nation Under a Groove” 08.) “Flash Light” 09.) “(Not Just) Knee Deep” 10.) “All Your Goodies Are Gone” 11.) “Maggot Brain” 12.) “Jump Around” (House of Pain cover) 13.) “Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker) / Night of the Thumpasorus Peoples / Get Off Your A– and Jam” 14.) “Atomic Dog” (George Clinton song) 15.) “Mommy, What’s a Funkadelic? / Hit It and Quit It / Super Stupid / Standing on the Verge of Getting It On / Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo-Doo Chasers)”
Parliament Funkadelic opening acts
At select shows, Clinton and co. (who you might remember from the classic film “Good Burger”) will take a few major stars along with them for the ride.
To make sure you’re familiar with their music, we found each special guest’s most streamed track on Spotify.
You can hear them here:
Fishbone: “Ma and Pa”
Dumpstaphunk: “Sheez Music”
George Porter Jr.: “Fall Right In”
Huge concerts in 2023
While there are no acts quite on par with Parliament, here are five genre-bending shows that might whet your appetite for visually stunning live shows.
• Earth Wind and Fire with Lionel Richie
• Kool and the Gang
• Tower of Power
• The Isley Brothers
• Average White Band

George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic Tease Final Tour, Drop Summer 2023 Dates
George Clinton and his Parliament-Funkadelic brethren have released an extensive list of tour dates that will take the crew from coast-to-coast this summer. The run has been dubbed Just For The Funk Of It! Final Tour?!? and arrives after Clinton’s most recent so-called farewell jaunt last summer.
The funk icons run will commence on July 27 in Reno, Nev., before following up the next evening with a show in Napa, Calif., where the ensemble is expected to participate in the Blue Note Jazz Festival. Next, they will pick up a pair of Pacific Northwest dates slated for Portland, Ore., and Seattle before moving on to the middle of the country.
In continuation of the impending summer tour, the bandleader and his team of collaborators will take stands in Oklahoma and Texas in addition to an August 8 performance in Atlanta. Ensuing gigs in North Carolina will set up the group’s arrival in Boston on August 17.
Next, the crew is scheduled to play a show in Port Chester, N.Y. Then, they’ll return to the road on August 19, trekking over to Montclair, N.J., up until the time arrives for their show in Mashantucket, Conn., a few short days later, on August 20.
The so-called, Just For The Funk Of It! Final Tour?!? will take the musicians through Pittsburgh and Cleveland and continues with stops in Indianapolis before the last August date, which will occur in Louisville, Ky. A lone Nov. 25 concert is set to take place in Oakland, Calif., and serves as the band’s last date of this tour.
On the road, Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic will welcome special guests Fishbone, Dumpstaphunk and George Porter Jr., who will join the headliners in select cities.
Despite the tour’s name, it has not been confirmed that this will be the final run of dates for Clinton and the ensemble. The bandleader has a history of taking breaks from the road and embarking on periods of retirement.

George Clinton & P-Funk Plot (Another) ‘Final Tour’ Ft. Fishbone, Dumpstaphunk, More
George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic have announced a 21-date 2023 tour featuring support from a number of their funkiest colleagues, Fishbone , Dumpstaphunk , and George Porter Jr. of The Meters fame.
Clinton and his ever-evolving P-Funk circus have been saying “farewell” for years. When the aging bandleader first detailed his multi-band One Nation Under A Groove tour in 2019, he billed the nationwide run as his “final” outing. Four years later, he’s still at it—and yes, he’s aware of that loose interpretation of finality: This year, the summer trek is being billed with a self-aware lack of certainty as Just For The Funk of It! Final Tour?!?

The George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic 2023 Just For The Funk of It! Final Tour?!? will kick off in Reno, NV on July 27th and snake its way across the country throughout the end of July and most of August before wrapping up in Louisville, KY on August 26th. A few months later, P-Funk will regroup for a November 25th performance in Oakland, CA. Specific venues and ticketing information for the tour have yet to be announced. George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic review – fabulous fusions on farewell tour
Kentish Town Forum, London At 81, Clinton occasionally needs to sit down, but his band more than carry him with musicianship that straddles acid-rock, jazz and more
K een-eyed observers will note that this is not George Clinton’s first farewell tour: he was supposed to quit the road in 2018, which, at the time, he said was “part of a plan” he had conceived several years previously. Said plan has clearly been redrawn. A few weeks shy of his 81st birthday, Clinton is on the stage again, clad in sequinned trousers, a sailor’s hat with a huge eye on it and something that looks like an ancient Egyptian collar made out of holographic material – an outfit that may well constitute George Clinton’s idea of dressing down in a manner befitting his advanced years.
His role in live shows has diminished over time, although it’s still more than you suspect your average octogenarian could muster: when he’s not adding vocal interjections, dancing or beckoning for more applause, he retreats to a seat at the rear of the stage.
You could never accuse the current incarnation of Parliament-Funkadelic of not compensating. The band is still as gleefully overstaffed as at their 1970s height – at points there are eight vocalists performing at once – and Clinton presides over a kind of barely-controlled chaos: musicians wander on and off stage, swapping instruments and roles. At one point, a singer reappears both wielding a guitar and stripped to his underpants. They sound fantastic, fusing together what are effectively Parliament-Funkadelic’s greatest hits – Up for the Down Stroke, One Nation Under a Groove, Flashlight – into sprawling medleys that devolve into lengthy jams.
These underline what a broad musical universe Clinton’s brand of funk was. Michael Hampton, who was a 17-year-old prodigy, Kidd Funkadelic, when he first joined Clinton in 1975, delivers stinging acid-rock guitar solos. Greg Thomas’s sax and Greg Boyer’s trombone are audibly informed by jazz – during one solo Boyer quotes from John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme, and during a lengthy (Not Just) Knee Deep, Thomas leads the audience in a scat-singing call-and-response derived from Cab Calloway.
As always in the P-Funk universe, the sublime happily co-exists with the ridiculous, both on stage and in the audience, where a gentleman who looks like he could conceivably be a bank manager sports a homemade T-shirt bearing the title of Funkadelic’s 1975 song No Head, No Backstage Pass. From his back seat, Clinton wears a broad grin: a patriarch of misrule to the end.
George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic are on tour in the UK until 28 May.

On Just for the Funk of It tour, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic coming to NJ
The upcoming George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic tour will have a little extra star power.
Clinton — whose just-announced Just for the Funk of It Tour hits the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair on Wednesday, May 22 — recently received a star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“It's an honor to receive a star alongside the many notables from the world of entertainment,” said Clinton at the Jan. 19 ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard. “The old fans and new fans who let the music move their souls, you all know who I’m talking about. I’ve always said it’s the people who make the funk.”
The Just for the Funk of It Tour begins May 5 at the Fillmore New Orleans and ends Aug. 31 at the big Fool in Love festival in Los Angeles. The Fool in Love lineup includes Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Kool and the Gang, Lionel Richie, Santana and more.
Tickets for the Wellmont show start at $137 and are on Live Nation presale. They go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23.
Dumpstaphunk is the supporting act in Montclair.
Clinton, 82, received a ceremonial key to the city of Tallahassee, Florida, on Wednesday, Feb. 21, during a city commission meeting there, according to the Tallahassee Democrat .
Clinton, who's lived in Tallahassee for the last 30 years, led the chamber in a “We want the funk” chant afterward.

More: George Clinton honored in Plainfield, Newark: P-Funk founder retraces his roots in big day
Clinton founded the Parliaments as a teenager in the '50s. The P-Funk legacy was developed in a barbershop Clinton owned in Plainfield through the '60s.
In 2022, five blocks of Plainfield Avenue in Plainfield were renamed “Parliament Funkadelic Way” by the city. The area is where Clinton's barbershop, the Silk Palace, stood. The Second Street Youth Center now stands at 2nd Street and Plainfield Avenue.
“(I Wanna) Testify” was the breakthrough hit for the Parliaments in 1967. After becoming Parliament Funkadelic, they eventually landed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

High energy but not the music you want. I don't know if age has taken the vocal abilities, but as an ardent fan of p funk in its many forms, this show was a huge disappointment. George Clinton was little more than a hype man, telling you to put your hands up every few seconds that is if he wasn't sitting down watching everyone else perform. Which he did often. I get it, he is of an advanced age and with medical issues, but bb king day the entire time and our on a hell of a show at 80, Willie Nelson a few weeks ago does not have the vocal chops he once did but he played through his home catalog. This show was 4 songs I knew. Then a bunch of new acts doing their material. I know they call them parliament but they are not the names you know. They don't play the songs you know. Even when they do George Clinton isn't singing them. Credit to the band they play hard, and work hard but it's not what you expect.

It was a blast. I always love to see Funkadelic when they come around. They put on a great show everytime! Goerge Clinton is an amazing character, he is still very good at entertaining people. I love the mothership! "Mother Earth is pregnant for the 3rd time" ! & He did Maggot Brain which is an amazing song. I really loved his openers, Gorangatang...a hip hop full band wth didgeridoo...was a very interesting act!
As usual it was a great show. it seemed to me that everybody on stage was in a great mood, lots of smiling and joking, and energy. the newer younger members of the band really added to he energy of the show. the three female back up singers owned their own stars in the show. blackbird ripped it up, and george, it's so hard to believe that he is 76 years old. his love for funk is not about age, it about the feeling, the mood and he was all in it. they really know how to bond with a crowd. no fights, no arrests, just a funkin party.

July 31st 2022. Parliament is a high-energy, fun band to watch and dance to. George Clinton still brings the positivity and Mothership connection, though his time at the front of the stage is clearly behind him. Pioneer Courthouse Square is actually a very nice, ad hoc concert venue with nice spacing and good facilities.
