Experience the world famous “where the desert meets the sea” on a Fat Bike. Sandwich Harbour on the edge of the world heritage site, Namib Sand Sea, is one of the most special places in the world. The Fat Bike allows us to explore this amazing area in the most ecological and close to nature way. You will be collected from your accommodation in Swakopmund or Walvis Bay. We will then transfer by 4x4 vehicle from Walvis Bay for about 40km along the coast heading to Sandwich Harbour. Approximately 8km before Sandwich Harbour we offload the Fat Bikes and enjoy the amazing 8km cycle along beach and dunes to the Sandwich Harbour lagoon. Stopping along the way for photos and water breaks. The cycle is +/- 3 hours. On return to the vehicle, we enjoy some food and well

deserved ice cold drinks.

Desert & City Combo Tour

This tour is a 360 experience of Swakopmund and its surroundings! Combining our “Old City” Swakopmund and Scenic Desert Tour, giving you a full view of both the city and surrounding desert area. We start off by riding down memory lane, passing some of Swakopmund’s historic buildings and landmarks to give the visitor a feel of how our charming town. We then head off into the surrounding desert to take in the breathtaking scenery of the Namib desert. On our way back we might encounter some camels in the Swakop riverbed.

“Wow what fun did I have on this tour! I was not feeling well so I opted for an e-bike and boy did I have ZERO regrets as I found myself almost gliding through the dunes. Our guide Gibson is a legend – he was so patient and knowledgeable with our mixed crew of both younger and older folk with various ailments. The cycle through the beach was especially memorable as we freed a helpless bird who’s wings were stuck in fishing reel (Gibson to the rescue)! Overall, a fantastic experience with Swakopmund Fat Bike Tours. Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great  restaurant  offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great  spa  experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed  adventure  activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.

About the Publisher, Graeme Lund

The tourism industry has been my bread and butter for most of my life.  It started with my incorporating a tour company in 1995 just as South Africa was opening to international tourism. I was the first qualified field guide in the Eastern Cape and later became the approved tour guide trainer for the region.  At various times I have owned a tourist information office, an advertising agency specializing in marketing tourism businesses,  sat on the board of directors of various tourism organisations and a been a publisher of travel magazines and websites.

Southern Africa is my home and the diversity of cultures,  scenery and fauna and flora are what make it so special.  I have a passion for exploring and have done so by driving, hiking, strolling, cycling, boating, sailing, diving and flying and know that their is still so much more to see.  

Along the way their are so many amazing places to stay and to eat and they are an integral part of what makes this such a special place. These private and public tourism enterprises play a huge part in ensuring that our natural environment remains intact.

I am a fervent conservationist.  I have served on the Board of Trustees of Bayworld and am currently a director of Bay Action Network Alliance. I believe that tourism is one of the few effective ways of protecting a dwindling natural heritage in the face of overpopulation and irresponsible and selfish exploitation of natural resources. Sadly conservation for conservation sake is as out of date as fax machines and typewriters.  Animals and conservation areas must make more money from tourism than they can from exploitation to ensure their long term survival.  It is for this reason that I love working with responsible tourism organizations around Southern Africa.

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

3.5hr Adventure Desert Tour – N$800pp

This tour is for the experienced cyclist looking for a unique Namibian cycling adventure. Ideal for cycling groups. It includes all the aspects of the Scenic Desert Tour but double the distance and even higher dunes for longer and more technical riding. We start from our office in the city centre through town towards the Swakop riverbed, we then cross over the riverbed along the gravel plains behind the dune belt for approximately 8km with a beautiful view of the dunes on the one side and the vast gravel plains on the other side, doing several stops along the way to share some interesting fact about the Namib desert. We then ride across the entire dune belt to reach the Atlantic ocean, taking in stunning views from the top of some of the highest dunes in the area and enjoying the thrill of cycling a fat bike in an area otherwise not accessible with a regular bike. Pure excitement! We end with a beautiful cycle along the beach enjoying the cool coastal air after a great ride through the dunes. Total distance approximately 21k.

Itinerary : You will be collected from your accommodation in Swakopmund or Walvis Bay. We then transfer by 4x4 vehicle for about 40km from Walvis Bay along the coast heading to Sandwich Harbour, passing the Walvis Bay lagoon and salt pans, a bird sanctuary for flamingos, pelicans and many other birds. We setup base camp about 8km before the Sandwich Harbour lagoon, get our fat bikes ready and pack some snacks for an amazing 3 hour adventure bike trip along beach and dunes to the Sandwich Harbour lagoon. Stopping along the way for photos and water breaks. The cycle is about 3 hours and 16-18km. On return to base camp we enjoy some food and well deserved ice cold drinks.
