For me, traveling is not laying on the beach sipping cocktails. Although that can sometimes be lots of fun and relaxing too.

For me traveling is all about seeking new adventures and making travel memories. And these adventures become even more fun when you can share them with a good friend.

That’s why I wanted to share this list with 25 of the best travel quotes with friends.

We start this list with one of my favorite travel with friends quotes because lets be honest, what do you need more in life than a good friend and a great adventure?

Our adventures brought us already to all 7 continents. One of the most memorable adventures we experienced was our cruise to Antarctica.   This is a continent that cannot be compared with anything else. 

But we also have great memories of our travels to Japan , Korea , and Borneo. 

Recently we discovered the Azores . At this moment we haven’t yet planned our next trip which is quite strange for us.

Although we’re not keen on organized tours or any other form of mass tourism, except the occasional cruise to spoil ourselves, we are no hermits. 

We love to socialize and we always have a great time when we meet locals or other travelers during our trips.

With social networks like Facebook, it’s easier than ever to stay in touch after your trip.

The locals were very sociable in the Azores but in bigger cities, it is often not as easy to make a connection.

We didn’t know where we were going but we had the best time.

I think loneliness would start to creep in really fast.

This is so true.  The world is such an intriguing and complex environment.  When we are young we have our parents to guide us but then there comes a point when we’re on our own.

Even though everybody wants to be independent there’re always moments when you need to rely on somebody else.  Sometimes we are just looking for some good advice, at other times we need some help.

This is especially true when you’re abroad in a country you don’t know with a language you don’t speak. 

We traveled independently through China and we must agree that we underestimated how challenging this would be.  We often were completely helpless.  There were no English-speaking ticket offices in the train stations and to our surprise we didn’t meet that many people who spoke English during our trip.  

But those people who spoke English really did anything they possibly could to help us.  They never took advantage of us, they never asked anything in return. 

They just seemed happy to help us.

They acted as an honest friend and that’s something I will never forget about our trip.

Sometimes you just need that little push.

Although I’m always looking forward to a new adventure I notice how I sometimes postpone the booking. 

And the more I postpone it the bigger the resistance becomes to finally take the step.

That’s why I’m so happy with my friends who are always ready to join me on my next adventures.  

Afterward, I always wonder why I was so reluctant at first because it always turned out to be so much fun.  And it is of course always so much more fun with your friends around.

This really shows how all people are the same and even when we come from completely different backgrounds, and we don’t speak the same language, we still have more in common than we think.

This event even broke the ice. 

Before this happened we had no contact with the local tribe but when we continued onward we were helping each other to cross the muddy parts and we tried to do some basic conversation.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem continued to claim Sunday that she visited North Korea — and cited a trip to South Korean’s demilitarized zone (DMZ) as proof.

Noem, 52, has been in hot water for a passage in her forthcoming book in which she recounted staring down North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un — a tale she has since said she’ll correct.

Margaret Brennan, the moderator of CBS “Face the Nation,” challenged her Sunday on a claim she also visited the famously isolated Hermit Kingdom, saying “You never went there.”

Noem responded: “Yes, I have. I’ve been there.”

She added: “I went to the DMZ. And there are details in this book that talk about going to the DMZ and specifics that I’m willing to share.”

The DMZ is a roughly 160-mile-long buffer zone that separates North and South Korea, fortified heavily with military hardware and troops on both sides.

Tourists can gaze into North Korea from the DMZ in South Korea.

But very few American politicians have actually visited the pariah state of North Korea, which is notorious for human rights abuses.

Back in 2019, former President Donald Trump took 20 steps over from the DMZ and became the first sitting commander-in-chief to enter North Korea.

Last year, a bipartisan delegation from Congress, led by Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) visited the Korean DMZ — but did not cross into North Korea.

The late former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) is also known to have made several visits to the US adversary in the past as an informal negotiator for the US.

There is certainly proof that Noem was at the South Korean side of the DMZ when she was serving in the US House.

One of Noem’s former colleagues, former Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) posted an image on social media of a 2014 visit.

Not long after, he posted a selfie with Noem at the Great Wall of China.

Noem served on the House Armed Services Committee from 2013 to 2015.

Last week it emerged from early copies of her forthcoming book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward,” that she dubiously claimed to have met with “North Korean President Kim Jong Un.”

“I remember when I met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un,” she wrote. “I’m sure he underestimated me, having no clue about my experience staring down little tyrants (I’d been a children’s pastor, after all).”

A spokesperson for Noem later explained that there had been “two small errors” in her upcoming book that were then communicated to the “ghostwriter and editor.”

But on Sunday, Noem was evasive about the mistake when Brennan asserted, “You did not meet with Kim Jong Un.”

“No, I’ve met with many, many world leaders, many world leaders,” she replied.

“I’m not going to talk about my specific meetings with world leaders. I’m just not going to do that,” Noem went on.

“This anecdote shouldn’t have been in the book and as soon as it was brought to my attention, I made sure that — that was adjusted.”

At one point, Brennan pressed the South Dakota governor about how she didn’t catch the error in her book while recording audio for it.

“I took action to make sure that it was [corrected],” Noem stressed.

Her upcoming memoir is set to hit bookshelves on Tuesday.

Noem had been widely speculated as a contender to be Trump’s vice president pick, but recently, several confidants close to the former president have poured cold water on that.

Dear Lucas : A group of friends and I are planning our annual camping trip, and one of my friends, God bless him, always wants to make sure everyone is included. Because of that, he invited this guy he works with, let’s call him Jamie, to the trip. I’ve met Jamie, and every time we cross paths, he takes over the conversation and talks about his weird hobbies and interests. How do I convince my friend to kick Jamie off the trip?

Dear Reader : Jamie obviously hasn’t been properly initiated, and that’s why he feels so insecure around his new group.

You have to speed-run, as the kids say, all the things you do to establish a friendship. You may be hesitant to befriend the very person you seek to get away from, but you forget an essential part of friendship includes assimilation. Sometimes, assimilation into a friend group means adopting the group’s lingo or inside jokes, but in this case, it means breaking him like a wild horse.

Friendships are built on bizarre adventures, trust and sharing near-death experiences. You should put Jamie through a series of bizarre initiations to prove he’s up to par. These activities don’t have to make sense. And if he’s as weird as you say, he should be all about it.

For the bizarre adventures part, force him to play Hot Cross Buns on the recorder in crowded public areas until the police show up, and then keep playing it. For the trust part, force him to watch insufferable indie short films and ask, “What did that mean to you?” until he finally tells you about his childhood trauma. For the near-death experience part, the camping trip should work just fine – just give Jamie an irresponsible amount of psychedelics and find him a local bear to wrestle.

The reason for involving a bear is it allows nature to be the last line of defense in your friend group. If he has Bad Vibes, the bear will know. They always know.

Perhaps I’m being too nice to your Jamie, because I am so often that friend with weird interests, like the eels in the plumbing waging a silent war on us all or training Canada geese to attack your neighbor.

It’s okay to be a little weird, just make sure you do your due diligence with who you choose as your friends.

T he girlfriend of a man who was killed during a surfing trip in Mexico has revealed her "heart is shattered into a million pieces" after his death.

Australian brothers Callum, aged 33, and Jake Robinson, 30, along with their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, also 30, are believed to have been murdered for resisting the theft of their vehicle. The group was reported missing on April 27 when they failed to return to their lodgings after being spotted surfing and camping on the Baja coast near Ensenada.

Concerns escalated when the trio, who actively shared their journey on social media, suddenly stopped posting updates.

Callum, an ex-college lacrosse player, had been enjoying Coachella before he embarked on the fateful trip along Baja California's Pacific coast with his younger brother Jake and Jack Carter Rhoad, a San Diego -based clothing designer.

Family members have confirmed the identification of three bodies found in a well. State prosecutors in Baja California said relatives recognized the deceased after viewing the bodies retrieved from a secluded well approximately 50 feet deep.

It appears that the three friends, who were on a surf getaway to the Baja peninsula, were killed by robbers intent on taking their truck for its tires, reports the Mirror US .

The bodies were reportedly disposed of by being thrown into a well near the seaside. Callum's girlfriend, Emily Horwath, who lives in San Diego , was devastated by the news of his passing.

"My heart is shattered into a million pieces," she lamented. "You are one of one. I will love you forever."

Kyle Hartzell, who used to live with Callum, said: "I wish I had more time with ya ... I really do."

Randy Dible, a photographer from San Diego , shared his sorrow upon hearing the tragic news, recalling how Callum had recently purchased one of his prints and talked about plans for a surfing trip to Baja California .

"I told him to go to La Bocana where there's great fishing and a wave to surf. I drew him a little map on a napkin," he said. "Really great guy and champion lacrosse player and surfer," he added.

"Life is fleeting."

Three individuals have been arrested in relation to the case, which, according to local residents, was resolved much quicker than many other disappearances in Mexico. Chief state prosecutor Maria Elena Andrade Ramirez gave a harrowing account of what were likely moments of intense fear that brought an end to the journey of Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson and American Jack Carter Rhoad.

She speculated that the murderers happened upon the scene, spotting the tourists' pickup and tents, aiming to nick their tyres. But "when (the foreigners) came up and caught them, surely, they resisted."

She believes the tourists were then shot .

The suspects then supposedly took the bodies to what she described as "a site that is extremely hard to get to" and chucked the remains into a well they seemed to know well. She mentioned that the authorities haven't ruled out these individuals might have tossed the first body found earlier into the well in connection with other offenses .

"They may have been looking for trucks in this area," Andrade Ramirez noted. The criminals apparently concealed the well with planks.

"It was literally almost impossible to find it," said Andrade Ramirez, adding that extracting the bodies from the well took a full two hours.

1000-Lb. Sisters’ Tammy Slaton Clarifies Relationship Status With ‘Spiritual Sister’ Haley Michelle

As questions began to mount about her relationship with her “spiritual sister” Haley Michelle , 1000-Lb. Sisters star Tammy Slaton decided it was time to clear things up.

Slaton, 37, posted a TikTok video on Monday, April 29, showing her, Michelle and friend Paola Román on a recent girls trip.

With Marshmello and Anne-Marie ’s song “Friends” playing, text on the screen spells out the lyrics: “F-R-I-E-N-D-S / We’re just friends / So don’t go look at me with that look in your eye.”

The video was a clear response to many of Slaton’s followers, who have expressed intrigue about her relationship with Michelle, who calls herself the “Paranormal Princess.” Michelle, 30, has become a fixture on Slaton’s social media pages in recent months, leading some to speculate that Michelle and Slaton were dating.

The concept isn’t totally out of left field, as Slaton said she was “like a lesbian” after the death of her husband, Caleb Willingham , in June 2023.

“I’m a supporter of everybody,” Slaton, 37, said in a January TikTok video, responding to a commenter who asked whether she was a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. “Well, I was saying I was pansexual but I kinda stopped messing with guys after my husband passed.”

She continued, “Love is love. Everybody deserves love whether they’re gay, straight, trans, pan, bi, nonbinary [or] whatever. I’m just a lover.”

Michelle has done her best to clarify the status of her relationship with Slaton, though she’s left things undeniably murky.

In a Thursday, April 25, post via Instagram, Michelle shared a photo of her and Slaton dressed in all black standing near a body of water.

“Spiritual Sisters, our powerful connection we don’t have to explain anything to anyone,” Michelle captioned the post. “You are my Best Friend 💙.”

Given Michelle’s sudden prominence in Slaton’s life, some of the reality star’s followers have begun questioning Michelle’s motives.

“It’s giving super exploitative vibes,” one person commented on Michelle’s post. “This is such a sketchy thing.”

Last month, two brothers and one of their friends crossed from the United States into Mexico to explore Baja California’s famous surf breaks. Pictures posted online by one of the brothers, Callum Robinson, 33, show the men gazing out at the ocean with coffee, enjoying street tacos and relaxing with beers on a roof deck.

After camping on a remote stretch of beach south of Ensenada, the friends were supposed to check into an Airbnb in Rosarito Beach last weekend. But they never arrived. The last time their relatives heard from the men was April 27.

Their disappearance in one of Mexico’s most violent states has triggered a massive search involving local authorities, the FBI and the Mexican marines.

“We are looking for them on land and at sea,” Baja California Atty. Gen. María Elena Andrade Ramírez said Thursday. “We are making every effort.”

The group was last seen near Santo Tomas, about 70 miles south of Rosarito, authorities said.

Debra Robinson, Jake and Callum’s mother, appealed for help on social media after days passed without word from her sons, noting that Callum is diabetic. “This is a very dire situation,” she said.

Baja California’s rugged coastline and epic waves have long attracted surfers from north of the border. But visiting remote areas makes them vulnerable to crime, said Serge Dedina, a longtime surfer in the area and executive director of Wildcoast, an environmental organization that works in Baja.

He said he frequently cautions surfers who visit the area to stay in groups, avoid driving at night and sleep near fish camps. “Do not go out in isolated places if you can avoid it,” he tells them.

In recent years, the state has been convulsed in violence, much of it connected to the drug trade. Last year, authorities recorded 2,116 homicides in the state of Baja California — one of the highest rates in Mexico.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in his last year in office, ran on a pledge to reduce violence in Mexico. But while homicides nationally have dipped slightly during his six-year term, they continue to hover near record highs.
