Do Pakistanis Need a Visa for Indonesia?

If you are a Pakistan passport holder wishing to visit the country, you are required to obtain a visa for travel. To visit for tourist purposes, this means you’ll need to gain sponsorship from a person in Indonesia before you visit.

Your sponsor needs to be based in Indonesia and will be required to make the application on your behalf. The good news is this process can be completed online, as it is possible for Pakistani travellers to obtain the Electronic Visa (eVisa) for tourist visits.

There are 2 types of eVisa options available for Pakistani citizens:

  • Visit Visa: this is issued primarily for tourist purposes for those who wish to visit for a short period of time. It does not permit paid working activities.
  • Limited Stay Visa: this is provided to regular passport holders and is valid for a maximum 1-year stay in Indonesia. It’s granted for purposes including foreign investment, employment in government/private sector, education, training or research.

We will be expanding on the Visit Visa, which is the travel pass you will need to obtain for tourist purposes.

A holder of a Visit Visa is usually permitted a Single Entry travel pass, valid for up to a 60-day stay in the country. This can be extended via the immigration office a total of 5 times, with each extension providing another 30-day stay.

Indonesia Visa Requirements for Pakistani Citizens

Your sponsor will need to apply for the e-Visa on your behalf. When approved, you will receive your travel pass by email. The requirements for applying for a Visit Visa are as follows:

  • Application and guarantee letter.
  • A copy of a valid passport with a minimum of 6 months validity from the date of application.
  • Proof of living expenses for your time in Indonesia amounting to 1,500 USD.
  • Your proof of return/onward tickets.

Your travel pass should be approved within 5 working days and will be sent to you via email.

Indonesia Entry Requirements for Travellers From Pakistan

As mentioned previously, if you’re a Pakistan passport holder, you’re required to obtain travel authorisation via a sponsorship letter from a sponsor before you travel. Once you have your travel authorisation in place, it’s also important to bear in mind a few other requirements you’ll need to consider before gaining entry to the country.

To ensure your trip runs smoothly, make sure you have checked your passport for the following:

  • Check it’s valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of your application.
  • Check it’s in good condition and not damaged or mutilated.

If you’re visiting for tourist purposes and therefore are travelling on a Visit Visa, you’re not permitted to engage in paid work. Travellers who do not follow the rules are at risk of being deported from the country.

Travelling to Indonesia From Pakistan

Known for its vast array of stunning beaches, ancient temples and lush green scenery, it’s no surprise that Indonesia attracts many travellers wanting to kick back and relax or explore here.

With over 17,000 islands to choose from in Indonesia, you may be wondering where to start! The most obvious and popular choice is Bali – the island known for its iconic rice paddies, expansive pristine beaches and important ancient temples. As one of the most tourist-friendly islands, you may decide to start your adventure in Bali.

However, you may choose to head off the beaten track for a jungle adventure on the less visited island of Sumatra.

The most efficient and cost-effective way of reaching Indonesia is to fly. The flight time between Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Pakistan and Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali is around 12 hours.

Indonesian Visa for Pakistani FAQs

Below you will find the answers to some common FAQs.

Can All Pakistani Nationals Travel to Indonesia?

Yes, provided a visa is secured in advance of travel, it is possible for Pakistani nationals to visit for short stays and tourist purposes. If you’re visiting for other purposes, you will be able to find more information available at the embassy.

Is It Safe for Pakistanis to Travel to Indonesia?

Yes. For the vast majority of visits, this is a safe country to travel to. As tourism and the tourism industry are a big priority for the government here, tourist safety is regarded as highly important.

That being said, it’s best to be wary and alert, as you would anywhere, but particularly while travelling around at night.

Can I Take My Medication With Me on My Trip?

Yes. It’s no problem to take prescribed medication with you on your trip, so long as it’s clear the medication is for personal use and does not contain any opium ingredient.

You are required to bring an official printed letter from your doctor with as much information about the medicine as possible, including its intended use.

The authorities will check that the amount of medication you pack matches with the doctor’s letter. Therefore, ensure you only take enough medication to cover your trip. If you have all the correct clearances, any supporting documentation and the exact doses of medicine, then there should not be a problem.

Applying for Indonesian Visa is Faster and Easier with e-Visa

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 transmission, the Indonesian government is continuously leveraging innovative responses such as the introduction of digital public services. The Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights has launched an electronic visa (e-Visa) application system aimed to provide ease of access, especially during the pandemic.

The e-Visa application system will also facilitate future foreign tourists who wish to visit Indonesia after the pandemic, making a positive impact on the development of tourism and creative economy of Indonesia. In the meantime, safe tourist destinations are being prepared in compliance with health protocols.

With the launch of this service, foreigners no longer need to visit the Republic of Indonesia Representative out of the country or the Immigration Office in the country to get a visa sticker on their passport. To enter Indonesia, they just need to apply for a visa online via this e-Visa application system.

The steps to apply for the Indonesian e-Visa are as follows:

1. Visit  https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/

2. Register

- Enter data and upload required documents (individual/ corporation)

- Wait for the email notification which contains the username and password

3. Apply for Visa

- Log in using the username and password

- Select the type of visa you wish to apply for, enter data, and upload required documents

- Make PNBP payments (Make sure the data and documents are correct. If the application is rejected, the payment shall not be refunded)

- If the application is approved, a notification will be sent via email

The application for e-Visa can be submitted from wherever the applicant is. The verification process will be quick, which is 3  (two) - 5 (five) working days, and then the visa will be sent to the applicant. In order to cut bureaucratic procedures, the applicant and the guarantor will not be required to appear in person and the visa will be sent directly via email. Once the foreign citizens (WNA) receive their e-Visa, they can immediately travel to Indonesia.

The ease of applying for an Indonesian visa will play an important role to facilitate the post-pandemic recovery of tourism and creative economy sectors. With this innovation, the number of tourists visiting Indonesian destinations is expected to grow after the pandemic.

How to get an Indonesia eVisa from Pakistan with us

We offer an Indonesia Visa service that handles visa applications. You’ll have access to a simplified application form that’s easy to fill out and understand (you’ll be done in less than 15 minutes!).

Our team of visa experts will review your application once you’re done to make sure it’s correctly filled and free from mistakes, thus increasing your chances of visa approval.

Here’s how to apply:

Step 1: Go to our website or download the iVisa app to start your visa application. Enter your personal and travel details.

Step 2: Verify that all your information is accurate. Pay the service and visa fees with a credit or debit card, PayPal, or Venmo.

Step 3: Complete the application form, upload the necessary documents, and submit.

When your visa is approved, we’ll notify you via email. Make sure to print it out and save a digital copy on your phone before you head to Indonesia. Once you arrive in the country, an immigration officer will fix a sticker visa in your passport, which will act as an entry permit.

How to Apply Indonesia Visa from Pakistan? Easy Guide

If you are thinking to visit Indonesia then you need to apply for an Indonesia visa from Pakistan. Indonesia is a beautiful country in Southeast Asia and I have recently visited it myself. I will share my experience in obtaining an Indonesian visa from Pakistan.

How to Apply Indonesia Visa from Pakistan?

Indonesia visa requirements for pakistani citizens, best tips for getting indonesia visa in pakistan, frequently asked questions for indonesia visa in pakistan.

how to apply Indonesia visa from Pakistan

If you are a permanent resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab or Kashmir then you have to visit the Indonesian embassy in Islamabad in order to apply for an Indonesian visa.

If you are a permanent resident of Sindh or Balochistan then you can apply at the Indonesian consulate in Karachi. I live in Karachi, so I applied for a visa in Karachi.

The Consulate of Indonesia is located in Karachi at the below address:

Address : Block 5 Clifton, Karachi, Karachi City, Sindh 75600 Phone: (021) 35874619 Email: [email protected]

Website: https://kemlu.go.id/karachi/en

The embassy of Indonesia in Islamabad is located at below address:

Address : Gamal Abdul Naseer Rd، Ramna 5 Diplomatic Enclave, Islamabad, Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan. Phone: +92 51 2832017 Website: http://www.kbri-islamabad.go.id

You can also write in Google  “Indonesia Consulate Karachi”  and you’ll find the address as well as Google Maps for this consulate in Karachi. it’s not difficult to find in Clifton. Similarly, you can write “Indonesia embassy in Islamabad” and you will find the address and location of the embassy in Islamabad without any hassle.

Now the tricky part of an Indonesian visa is the requirements which are very strange for some reasons. first of all, when you go to the consulate for submitting your application, the lady at the counter isn’t that professional in dealing the visa applicants. It’s not an easy visa process like a Malaysia visa or Thailand visa in Pakistan .

Update : Now the lady has changed and the new lady is somehow working fine. she will ask you basic questions about why you want to visit Indonesia and for how many days. that’s it. They do have a website which I think they have not updated for the last 200 years. Therefore, it is always better to call them and ask for the latest requirements.

Update 2 : Indonesia has started evisa for tourists. This evisa can only be applied through a sponsor in Indonesia. It will cost almost three times more than the current visa fee of Indonesia in Pakistan. If you need evisa directly issued from Indonesia then please contact us via email or WhatsApp and we can arrange it for you from Indonesia.

When I visited the consulate in 2022. The following were the exact requirements to apply for an Indonesian visa in Karachi.

  • 1. Two visa applications filled with two photographs (white background)
  • 2. Covering letter requesting a visa, and mentioning all the details of the visit as well as your job/business and must be on company letterhead where you work or do a business
  • 3. Bank statement of last 6 months + maintenance certificate
  • 4.  Confirmed hotel booking for each day in Indonesia
  • 5. Return flight ticket (I submitted a reservation)
  • 6. Original passport and previous passports
  • 7. Copy of the passport’s first three pages (A4 size)
  • 8. Copy of CNIC (A4 size)
  • 9. NTN and Registration in case of businessman
  • 10.  Visa fee in PKR equivalent to $50 USD to be paid in the bank

Note : After you submit the visa application, they will give you a payment voucher to pay the required fee in the bank (they will tell you which bank), you will go to that bank and pay the fee and you will come back to the consulate with the payment slip.

I was asked to provide an  “Undertaking Letter”  which I didn’t know what it was. it turned out that the travel agent who has booked my flight should provide me with this letter that I have to take to the consulate with me. I told the lady that I have booked the ticket myself and after then she accepted my visa application without that freaking letter.

For visa applicants from Punjab who apply in Islamabad, they must also submit a “ Police Character Certificate ” in addition to the above-listed documents.

This is a must in Islamabad. I don’t understand why the same country requires it in Islamabad and not in Karachi (but you know visa rules are always strange & weird). You can obtain this certificate from a police station in your city.

If you are going to Indonesia for 5 days then they will issue you only 6 days visa, which means, you can only stay for 6 days in Indonesia. Therefore, choose your stay wisely.

I mentioned in my application that I will stay for 8 days and they issued me a visa to stay for only 10 days. Below is the snap of my Indonesia visa where you can clearly see the maximum stay is only 10 days. That’s why mention more days if want to stay longer.

Note II : If you need visa consultancy about a Indonesia visa or any other visa then I offer a paid consultancy by WhatsApp or Zoom in which you will be able to talk to me for 30 minutes and explain your situation. You can book an appointment for visa consultancy by contacting us via email ([email protected]) or by messaging us on WhatsApp: +923112127101 .
