The Chrysler Voyager minivan is a less expensive alternative to the brand’s other minivan, the Pacifica , and is aimed at fleet buyers. The front-wheel-drive Voyager is powered by a 287-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine that works with a nine-speed automatic transmission. 

What’s New on the 2022 Chrysler Voyager?

Chrysler’s Uconnect 5 multimedia system is now standard. Uconnect 5 includes over-the-air update capability, dual-phone Bluetooth connectivity, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Other new standard features include heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, second-row Stow ’n Go seats, power-sliding side doors and a power liftgate. A new air-filtration system is also standard.

The 2020 Chrysler Voyager comes in two trims: L and LX. The base L trim should satisfy most shoppers. The Voyager comes standard with a good amount of tech and infotainment features, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The LX trim has a few more add-ons, such as a rear DVD player, heated front seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and remote start. Notably, the second-row seats do not fold into the floor on either trim, but the Voyager does come standard with third-row Stow 'n Go seats. 

The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica , the Voyager’s sibling, is worth checking out for its additional entertainment and safety features.

What Does Chrysler's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Chrysler has a certified pre-owned program for vehicles less than six years old and with fewer than 65,000 miles. Buyers get the balance of the seven-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. They also receive a three-month, 3,000-mile maximum care warranty that covers most major components and is good from the date you purchase your CPO Chrysler. If your CPO Chrysler has any of the original three-year, 36,000-mile new-vehicle warranty remaining, the maximum care warranty kicks in when the new-car warranty expires. Chrysler CPO vehicles must pass a 125-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and 24-hour roadside assistance may be available.

The Voyager and Pacifica are both minivans produced by Chrysler, but the Pacifica ups the ante when it comes to options and a lavish cabin. The Voyager is a product of lower Pacifica trims, which means they have some commonalities, including the same 287-horsepower V6 engine and similar gas mileage ratings. However, the Pacifica is available with all-wheel drive, which cannot be found in the Voyager and many other minivans . Other options found only in the Pacifica are forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a 20-speaker Harman Kardon stereo. If you don’t need AWD or some of the features available in the Pacifica, the Voyager remains a decent choice.

The highly ranked 2020 Honda Odyssey is a great option. The Odyssey has more cargo space and a higher-quality cabin than the Voyager, and it has spacious and comfortable seating in all three rows. The Voyager doesn’t offer as much space as many of its minivan competitors , but there’s still plenty of room to haul the family's gear. This Chrysler has 32.3 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 87.5 cubic feet behind the second row, and a total of 140.5 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded.

The third row comes with Stow 'n Go seats that fold down into the floor. There are also storage options throughout the cabin, including in-floor cubbies, a front-seat umbrella holder, and bins for smartphones, tablets, and bags. Unlike the 2020 Pacifica , the Voyager does not feature second-row Stow ‘n Go seats.

What's New for 2021?

Not much has changed on the Voyager for 2021, but Chrysler has improved the van's optional driver-assistance hardware to include updated radar and camera sensors which can detect pedestrians and alert the driver or attempt to mitigate an accident. The Voyager's suite of driver-assistance features remains optional for 2021, as part of the Safety Tec package.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2021 Chrysler Voyager starts at $29,655 and goes up to $32,365 depending on the trim and options.

Unless you're prepared to go with the barest-boned minivan on the market, we recommend you look at the LX. While neither trim provides much in the way of amenities, the LX at least offers a more compliant suspension tune than the L as well as automatic headlamps, aluminum wheels (instead of steel), three-zone manual climate control, and superior exterior lighting. Plus, if you want options such as remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, satellite radio, and/or a built-in DVD player to entertain the kiddos, the LX is the only way to go.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Mechanically, the Voyager is identical to the Pacifica, using the same 287-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels. In our testing, the Pacifica managed a 7.3-second sprint to 60 mph. Given this van forgoes some of the features that weigh down its brother, the Voyager likely weighs less than the Pacifica and thus has the potential to beat that time. Don't hold your breath for a hybrid. Chrysler will reserve that powertrain for the pricier minivan in its lineup.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

We haven't had the opportunity to test the Voyager on our 200-mile highway fuel-economy loop, but for reference, the last nonhybrid Pacifica we tested achieved 31 mpg. The Chrysler vans both earn EPA estimates of 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The Voyager's 22 mpg combined score betters that of the Kia Sedona and matches that of the Honda Odyssey , both chief competitors.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

As with the exterior styling, powertrain, and chassis, the Voyager's interior mimics that of the Pacifica, albeit with fewer creature comforts. You won't find leather seats, in-dash navigation, automatic climate control, or power-sliding side doors here. What's more, the Voyager provides Stow 'n Go capability only for the rear bench seats. If you want the second row to fold into the floor, you'll need to shell out around $35,000 for the base Pacifica. You can, however, tuck away valuables in the underfloor cubbies in front of the captain's chairs if you opt for the LX trim. Behind the third row, the Voyager boasts the same 32 cubic feet of cargo volume as the Pacifica. So while we have yet to put this van through our practical space tests, we feel safe saying that the Voyager will be able accommodate what its brother could (i.e., 12 carry-on suitcases with the rear seats up).

Infotainment and Connectivity

Chrysler provides a 3.5-inch digital display in the gauge cluster, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the center stack, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a six-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation. Either trim level provides Bluetooth streaming and integrated voice control, but only the Voyager LX allows for SiriusXM radio. Need to entertain the little ones? A rear-seat overhead DVD player can be had on the LX for $995.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The 2021 Voyager earned a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ), but it wasn't named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ). Looking for driver-assistance features ? You won't find many in the Voyager and nothing of the like is offered as standard. Key safety features include:

• Available rear parking sensors with rear automated emergency braking
• Available blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Chrysler's warranty coverage is fairly typical for the class. The Toyota Sienna offers more value here in the form of a two-year/25,000-mile complimentary scheduled maintenance plan.

Electronic Throttle Valves

Electronic Cruise Control allows a desired speed (engine rpm) to be maintained with the simple press of a button. Once activated, the rider does not have to constantly apply the throttle. This reduces stress on the right hand when traveling long distances, enabling relaxed cruising and contributing to a high level of riding comfort.

Kawasaki’s fully electronic throttle actuation system enables the ECU to control the volume of both the fuel (via fuel injectors) and the air (via throttle valves) delivered to the engine. Ideal fuel injection and throttle valve position results in smooth, natural engine response and the ideal engine output. The system also makes a significant contribution to reduced emissions. Electronic throttle valves also enable more precise control of electronic engine management systems like S-KTRC and KTRC, and allow the implementation of electronic systems like KLCM, Kawasaki Engine Brake Control, and Electronic Cruise Control.

ABS (Anti-lock Brake System)

K-ACT (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology) ABS

Kawasaki ABS systems use front and rear wheel sensors to constantly monitor wheel speed. Should information from either of the sensors indicate that wheel lock has occurred, the ABS ECU directs the pump in the ABS unit to modulate brake fluid pressure (releasing and reapplying pressure so that traction can be regained) until normal operation resumes. ABS offers rider reassurance that contributes to greater riding enjoyment.

At its heart, K-ACT ABS is an advanced anti-lock braking system, designed to keep tires from locking up during braking. But K-ACT ABS was designed to be used on touring models weighing in excess of 300 kg (661 lb) – and that is before adding a passenger and luggage.  Complementing its standard ABS function, K-ACT ABS links the front and rear brakes. It monitors the brake force the rider is exerting at both the front and rear, and takes into consideration vehicle speed to ensure highly effective braking while maintaining chassis stability.  For example, let's say the rider pulls on the front brake lever. To keep the bike from pitching forward, the ABS ECU actuates the rear brake (via fluid pumps) to ensure that front-rear balance is maintained. Should the rider push the rear brake pedal, the system actuates the front brake as well to distribute the load more evenly so that the rear wheel does not lock up. Based on the vehicle speed, K-ACT decides the optimum hydraulic pressure to send to each caliper, ensuring that even with a heavy motorcycle, stable braking performance is possible.

How best to drive a taxi in Moscow

Moscow is a huge metropolis – the capital of the Russian Federation is three times as large and has three times as many inhabitants as Berlin, for example. Of course, getting from A to B is an important topic for visitors and locals alike. The metro is certainly the number one form of transportation in the Russian mega city. But as practical as the subway may be: in the rush hour it can get damn stuffy on the trains – especially in the city center and on the ring line the trains burst at the seams in the morning and in the evening and sometimes you have wait to be able to get in at all. In addition, you cannot get to the airport by metro. The most obvious solution is certainly the taxi. As a foreigner, you have to know a lot about Moscow and taxis. In Soviet times, taxis were affordable, but not competitive in comparison to heavily subsidized public transport. In addition, taxi drivers had a bad reputation and often questionable work ethic. Hardly everyone drove a taxi in Moscow and there were accordingly few. The development in the wild nineties, which were economically difficult for Russia, in which even many doctors, engineers and scientists had to earn something as taxi drivers, was quite different. The so-called “bombily” (from the Russian word bombit’, to earn something extra) came into service. It became common practice that as a pedestrian on the side of the road you only had to keep your hand out and stop a (usually unmarked) taxi or a bombila in a matter of minutes. A short negotiation about the price and you’re on your way. In 2011, the Moscow city administration estimated that in addition to the 5,000 licensed taxis, at least ten times as many black taxis were on the move.

«Black» taxis – not advisable for tourists

For tourists, especially inexperienced Russia, these taxis are anything but advisable. At first you will have communication problems even with kindly Bombila-drivers without knowledge of Russian. Even with proper school Russian, as a tourist you lack the local knowledge and an idea of ​​the usual prices – which is why you are almost at the mercy of the many black sheep among the «black» taxi drivers.

However, if you have sufficient knowledge of Russian, are clear about the exact route beforehand and can still negotiate well, it may be worth trying the «black» taxis. Taxi apps: Gett, Yandex, or Uber?

Equipped with a SIM card and mobile internet, it is certainly the best option as a tourist to get around using the taxi app. The world’s leading provider Uber only plays a subordinate role in Russia. Although the app also exists in Russia, Uber works here in cooperation with the local top dog Yandex Taxi. Yandex is often referred to as the Russian Google and is also very popular as a taxi service. The Yandex app works similarly to that of Uber. You can see in advance the fare to be paid later, the license plate as well as the vehicle type and the driver’s previous ratings. However, at Yandex you can pay not only with a credit card, but also in cash with the driver. The prices that Yandex calls in Moscow for the so-called Eco tariff are very moderate. The basic fare, which includes a five-minute journey and three kilometers, is 129 rubles, or about $ 1.81. Each additional kilometer then costs 10 rubles, i.e. $ 0.14. Trips to Moscow airports are billed at the normal tariff. However, a pick-up fee of 449 rubles, i.e. $ 6.32, has to be paid from the major international airports Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo to the city. The standard fare will be 8 rubles per 1 km and 8 rubles per 1 minute. Of course, Yandex also offers high-quality transport, analogous to Uber’s offer. From the business tariff, in which you are chauffeured in a limousine from 349 rubles ($ 4.91), to the so-called ultimate tariff, in which you drive through in a Mercedes S-Class from 1899 rubles ($ 26.75) Moscow is driven, the Yandex offer knows no limits. Even vehicles specially equipped for transport for children, with special paint can be ordered via the app. Gett’s competition offers a similar range of products at generally lower prices. The cheapest service in vehicles of the VW Polo class currently starts at 99 rubles ($ 1.39). Trips to Moscow airports cost almost a quarter less than Yandex at 350 rubles ($ 4.93). The VIP service with vehicles that include the BMW 7 Series, the S-Class or the Audi A8 is also significantly more affordable at 700 rubles ($ 9.86) – even if fewer inclusive kilometers are included in the price.

Classic taxi services: Rare and usually only on order

Taxis in the western sense are rarely seen in Moscow. Just wave a taxi up from the street like in Berlin, London or New York? This is rather unlikely because there are simply too few taxis. You have to order a classic taxi in Moscow beforehand. Despite the competition from «black» taxis and the increasingly popular apps, there are still numerous companies that offer this. However, it is usually impossible to order one of these taxis without knowledge of Russian. Services that are specially designed for tourists and foreign business travelers can usually be paid for dearly. Therefore, as a tourist, unless you prefer a taxi app from the start, you leave the order to the hotel or local friends.

Most Muscovites know 4-5 districts well, another 5-6 districts superficially, and 15-20 – by hearsay. The other administrative divisions of the capital remain for them a blank space. For those who move here from other places, Moscow remains a mysterious monster for a long time.

When you begin your search for a new apartment , one of the first things that will spark your curiosity is the question of which Districts of Moscow are in actual fact the best choice to live in. Every potential new property owner wants to live in a welcoming and well-maintained neighborhood close to one of the Metro’s many stations. Our experts have compiled a list of the best Districts of Moscow for comfortable living for the benefit of those of you who are looking for a new property. This rating list is not based on standings, but rather it is a freely composed list of districts deserving of a property buyer’s attention.

• Arbat District (CAO)  – the legendary historical center of Moscow with its no less legendary eponymous street and old Moscow courtyards of country-wide fame. The Arbat District cannot be omitted from any rating of Moscow’s best residential areas. Here, the capital’s history comes alive and the modern bohemian scene thrives, while the number of monuments and famous locations, as well as the sheer quantity of elite restaurants and cozy cafes, is off the scale. There are many songs and films dedicated to the Arbat District. However, in recent years an increase in street crime has been documented in the neighbourhood. The profusion of tourists flocking to this renowned locality attracts all sorts of fraudsters, and both of these demographics do disrupt the local residents’ peace.
• Khamovniki District (CAO)  – the historical center of the capital city, rich in architectural monuments and important works of art. Its further appeal is secured by a high concentration of infrastructural facilities, a tranquil atmosphere and a lack of traffic issues. There are five Metro stations within the Khamovniki District itself and another two in its direct vicinity. This is a luxury that the inhabitants of the capital’s outskirts only dream of. However, this neighborhood is known for some environmental issues (much less dire than in other central locations), and customarily high real estate prices. For the price of a rundown one-room condo in Khamovniki District, one can purchase an apartment in an elite residential complex in the New Moscow area complete with brand new finishing.
• Strogino District (NWAO)  – this district has been rapidly gaining popularity since the beginning of the so-called eco boom, when many Muscovites became disenamored with the smog-filled city center. Strogino District’s main appeal is its wholesome environmental conditions, unusual for the megapolis in general. The absence of large industrial facilities coupled with an abundance of reservoirs, parks and public gardens, favorable wind directions and its own Metro station make this area one of Moscow’s best districts for comfortable living.
• Sokol District (NAO)  – a monument to Soviet era architecture, in a good way. The Sokol District is distinguished by its plentiful green areas, unusual buildings, a high percentage of locals born and bred in the capital city itself, and no major traffic problems. On the other hand, the price tag for real estate here is high, and the neighborhood is lacking in modern infrastructure facilities, i.e. megamarkets and shopping and entertainment malls.
• Krylatskoye District (WAO)  – an island of health and sports pastimes with its excellent environmental conditions. There have never been any industrial enterprises in the area, and compared to the CAO and South-East, the inhabitants of Krylatskoe District barely suffer from smog at all. The territory of this district is fashioned in the modern style, and the neighborhood itself lacks any obvious problems with traffic, infrastructure and crime. This is certainly the best residential district of Moscow for those who like to engage in any kind of sport, from hang gliding to football.
• Ostankinsky District (NEAO)  – a prestigious neighborhood in the North-East of the capital, containing of a number of Moscow’s iconic landmarks, such as the Ostankino Tower, Tsytsin Main Moscow Botanical Garden and VDNKh. It is the home base of the technical intelligentsia, dispersed over a multitude of research and design institutes.
• Ramenki District (WAO)  – one of the best residential districts of Moscow for families with children of all ages. An elite neighborhood with the corresponding price tag for real estate. Welcoming and neat, this district has all of the infrastructure one could want for a comfortable life: four Metro stations and plenty of entertainment facilities, medical and educational institutions. The world-famous Mosfilm film studio and the main building of Moscow State University are both located in the Ramenki District.
• Fili-Davydkovo District (WAO)  – a tasty morsel right in the middle of the Western Administrative Okrug. Competitive prices for real estate, welcoming public areas, an abundance of parks, friendly and highly cultured neighbors and an overall feeling of plenty of space – all this makes the locals not keen on selling their properties here. The buildings standing along the Kutuzovsky Prospekt are the exception to this rule. However, if you value your peace and quiet, you should avoid purchasing a home in one of them.
• Sokolniki District (EAO)  – the questionable reputation of the Eastern Administrative Okrug does not extend to Sokolniki District. The closeness of this district to the heart of the capital attracts property developers and buyers alike, which explains why this locality is so full of new elite high-rises and comfortable secondary housing, which is untypical of the EAO. The gigantic eponymous park containing plenty of cultural entertainment and hosting sports events is more than enough for any outing enjoyed by the whole family. Sokolniki District’s enviable infrastructure – from the point of view of many metropolitan areas – includes all kinds of medical and educational institutions, shops and shopping malls. Notably, the prime location of this district means that a journey to the capital’s center takes just a few minutes.
• Yasenevo District (SWAO)  – this district, considered to be a bedroom community and sprawling over a huge area, has become quite nice and welcoming thanks to its pleasing architectural solutions. It consists of several micro-districts, none of which feel cramped, surrounded by woodland. Health-promoting environmental conditions, three Metro stations, a well-thought-out system of external and internal road connections – all these favorable factors make Yasenevo District one of the best residential neighborhoods in Moscow.
