West Ham United pre-season tour 2023: Fixtures, how to watch, tickets and everything you need to know

West Ham United are on the plane to Australia for their pre-season tour under David Moyes in 2023. So here is everything you need to know about the Hammers’ schedule this summer.

The Irons announced in March 2023 that the Premier League club were heading down under for two friendlies in Perth. They delayed adding to their fixtures as West Ham went on to win the Europa Conference League . While their top-flight survival had also been in some doubt.

Moyes will hope to oversee a solid run of results during West Ham’s pre-season friendlies in 2023 to then have a more comfortable Premier League campaign in 2023/24. The Hammers only finished the 2022/23 season in 14th place and were just six points safe from relegation.

When does West Ham United’s pre-season start?

Moyes instructed the West Ham first-team squad to reconvene at Rush Green to start their pre-season training on July 6, 2023. It marked a later start date for the Irons’ players to last year when they regrouped on June 26. While their first friendly of 2023 followed on July 10.

As of June 28, West Ham United have announced six pre-season friendlies with two forming their 2023 tour of Australia. Moyes’ team will head down under in July to face A-League side Perth Glory. The Irons will also play a London derby with Tottenham Hotspur three days later.

Boreham Wood also helped West Ham start their pre-season plans in 2023 in a repeat of last year’s 1-1 draw. This time, the Hammers won 4-1 at Meadow Park with Danny Ings , Kamarai Swyer, Jarrod Bowen and Gideon Kodua scoring. West Ham then start their tour of Australia.

West Ham will also continue their pre-season plans upon returning to Europe with a further two away friendlies. The Irons will face another London outfit in Dagenham & Redbridge on July 22. They will then fly to France to face Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais for the very first time.

One final friendly for the summer will follow in Germany as West Ham round out their pre-season at Bayer Leverkusen. The Hammers will visit the BayArena natives managed by Xabi Alonso a week before the new Premier League season. They start the term at Bournemouth.

How to watch West Ham United’s 2023 pre-season fixtures

West Ham United have confirmed that fans in the UK can watch their pre-season friendly against Perth Glory for free on WHUFC.com or the Irons’ app via a free club account. The Hammers are charging for streaming passes to watch their London derby with Tottenham.

Fans in the UK can watch West Ham United’s pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur via WHUFC.com or the Irons’ app for £5. The game will be under the WHTV tab on the app.

Tickets for West Ham United’s summer schedule

Tickets for West Ham United’s pre-season games with Perth Glory and Tottenham Hotspur went on sale in March. While an exclusive pre-sale window also started the on-sale window.

While West Ham confirmed details regarding tickets for their pre-season friendly with Bayer Leverkusen on July 11. The Irons are still yet to confirm details about tickets for West Ham’s friendly Stade Rennais, though. While Dagenham & Redbridge have sold tickets since July 3.

Bayer Leverkusen have offered West Ham an allocation of 1,790 unreserved standing tickets for their friendly. While all tickets are priced at just £9. Fans can also buy tickets through the official West Ham club website or by calling the Irons’ ticket office hotline on 0333 0301966.

West Ham United have announced they will be jetting off to Australia this summer for their pre-season tour ahead of the 2023/24 season. The tour will take place in July with two friendly matches being played in Perth.

One of those warm-up games will be a London derby Down Under, as the Hammers take on rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Optus Stadium on July 18. Before that, David Moyes' side are due to take on A-League outfit Perth Glory at the same stadium three days prior.

Kick-off times for both games are yet to be confirmed, while the club is set to be in Perth ahead of the two clashes to meet with fans and explore the city. West Ham were actually due to travel to Australia ahead of the 2020/21 season before it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at today’s tour launch in Perth, former West Ham striker and current ambassador Carlton Cole said: “We’re really excited to be heading to Australia this summer. As well as looking forward to playing two exciting pre-season fixtures in Perth, we also have a great opportunity to visit a wonderful country, one that I know loves its sport and is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about football.

“We’re looking forward to meeting our incredible supporters from Down Under and hope that our fans from home and around the world can join them for a festival of football this summer in Western Australia. We can’t wait to be part of this unmissable football experience in Perth.”

Tickets for the fixtures against Spurs and Perth Glory will go on pre-sale on Friday March 24, with the link being live from 4am UK time through to 2am on Monday March 27. A venue pre-sale window, for those who registered for pre-sale via the event website or those who are currently on the stadium’s database, will then be active from 4am on March 27.

Tickets will then go on general sale from 4am on Tuesday March 28. It remains to be seen which league the Hammers will be preparing to compete in next season as their fight for Premier League survival continues.

As for Spurs, it remains unclear whether Antonio Conte will still be their manager by the time the tour takes place, with the Italian having made his feelings abundantly clear during his extraordinary post-match press conference rant after Tottenham were held 3-3 at Southampton having led 3-1.

West Ham trophy parade: Club confirm route and time details after winning Europa Conference League

West Ham have confirmed plans for a victory parade on Thursday to celebrate their Europa Conference League win.

Jarrod Bowen scored a dramatic late winner as the Hammers beat Fiorentina 2-1 in Prague to claim their first trophy in 43 years.

West Ham players and manager David Moyes are due to return home on Thursday and will celebrate their historic triumph with an open-top bus parade in east London.

The parade will start at Upton Park and finishing with a reception at Stratford Town Hall.

Confirming details of the parade, West Ham said in a statement: “West Ham United’s heroes will return from their triumphant night in Prague to a victory celebration in the streets of East London on Thursday evening.

“The playing squad and coaching staff will parade the Club’s first major trophy since 1980 on a specially-commissioned open top bus, travelling from the Hammers’ old home at Upton Park to a reception at Stratford Town Hall.

“Wednesday night’s historic victory over ACF Fiorentina in the UEFA Europa Conference League final has delivered the first European trophy to East London since the legendary West Ham team starring Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and Alan Sealey won the Cup Winners’ Cup at Wembley in May 1965.

“In the celebrations that followed that triumph, Moore and his team-mates greeted tens of thousands of supporters from the roof of their parade bus, before the captain held the trophy aloft from the balcony of East Ham Town Hall, standing alongside the Mayor of Newham.

“Almost 60 years on, the new generation of trophy-winning Hammers heroes will pay tribute to their predecessors in our heartland, starting the parade at the junction of Green Street and Barking Road, adjacent to the Boleyn Pub and The Champions Statue.

“The parade will then proceed west along Barking Road, turn right onto Greengate Street, and continue slowly along the A112 past Plaistow Park, Plaistow Station and Stratford Park, before ending its journey on West Ham Lane, outside the Old Town Hall in Stratford – at the heart of our home borough of Newham and where our current home resides.

“The parade bus sets off at 7pm BST, making its way to Stratford Town Hall around 8pm BST, but timings will inevitably change depending on the size of the crowd.”

Crystal Palace, West Ham, Wolves in talks for US pre-season mini tour

West Ham United , Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in advanced discussions to play in a new pre-season Premier League mini tour in the United States this summer.

Elite Tournaments — an organisation best known for staging youth soccer and lacrosse competitions — are in negotiations with the clubs to host the three-city Premier League event in late July.

Matches will be staged at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Maryland, Everbank Stadium in Jacksonville and a yet-to-be confirmed stadium in Tampa Bay.

Newcastle United and newly-promoted Leicester City had agreed to the proposal but dropped out, with the latter being replaced by Palace.

Last season, a number of England ’s top-flight clubs participated in the inaugural Premier League Summer Series, featuring Chelsea , Brighton , Brentford , Newcastle, Fulham , and Aston Villa . The matches were held across Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando, New Jersey, and Maryland.

The Athletic  reported in February that the 2024 Summer Series was cancelled due to several complications around organising the event, including issues around broadcasting. They are, however, looking at holding the series again in 2025.

With Manchester United , Manchester City , Chelsea, Liverpool , Aston Villa and Bournemouth already scheduled to tour America this summer, the new series will take that number to 10 Premier League sides playing pre-season games across the Atlantic.

Top clubs in England are prioritising the U.S. due to expected market congestion in 2025 and 2026 with the FIFA Club World Cup and the men’s World Cup.

Pre-season tours are considered crucial for clubs to engage with growing fan bases in key markets. For instance, Arsenal boasts more supporters’ clubs in the U.S. than there are states, and Manchester United connected with over 4,000 supporters through various club-affiliated events last summer.

UEFA Europa Conference League final - All You Need To Know

ACF Fiorentina v West Ham United UEFA Europa Conference League final, Eden Aréna, Prague, Czechia, Wednesday 7 June 2023, 8pm BST (9pm CEST)

West Ham United’s 2022/23 European tour concludes with the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) final with ACF Fiorentina in Prague on Wednesday evening.

The Hammers have travelled 11,156 miles to Denmark (twice), Belgium (twice), Romania, Cyprus, the Netherlands and now Czechia in pursuit of a second major European trophy in the Club's 128-year history.

The first was the European Cup Winners' Cup, which two goals from winger Alan Sealey secured when West Ham defeated West German opponents TSV 1860 Munich at Wembley in May 1965.

Winning the UECL would also mark the first major competition won by the Irons since Sir Trevor Brooking's header saw John Lyall's then-Second Division side defeat Arsenal to lift the FA Cup at Wembley in May 1980.

David Moyes' squad have won 13 of their 14 ties in this season's UECL, defeating Cypriots AEK Larnaca (6-0 on aggregate) in the round of 16, Belgian Cup holders KAA Gent (5-2) in the quarter-finals and Dutch opponents AZ Alkmaar (3-1) in the semi-finals. Those victories followed a record-setting perfect six wins from six in the group stage as Danes Silkeborg IF, Romanians FCSB and Gent’s fellow Belgians RSC Anderlecht were all seen off. And way back in August, Danes Viborg FF were defeated 6-1 on aggregate in the play-off round.

Vincenzo Italiano's Fiorentina finished seventh in Serie A last season and have had an even longer route to the final than the Hammers, in terms of both matches played and distance travelled.  La Viola  have been to the Netherlands, Scotland, Turkey (twice), Latvia, Portugal, Poland and Switzerland, and played 16 ties on their way to Czechia.

In Prague...

West Ham United supporters will be gathering at the Fan Meeting Point in Letná Park from 12noon on Wednesday 7 June for pre-match celebrations ahead of our UEFA Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina – with live entertainment, food, drink and more to enjoy.

The area is open to ALL fans, regardless of whether you have a ticket for the final or not.

Furthermore, a public viewing of the match on multiple LED screens   will be organised in the Fan Meeting Point for Hammers supporters who are in Prague on matchday but are not going to the game.

Many optimistic West Ham United supporters booked their flights to Prague many weeks and months ago, hoping their team would successfully negotiate their way through the competition – and they have now been rewarded.

As a result, many flights to the Czech capital are now full and prices for those with remaining availability have risen.

The stadium is situated in the Vršovice district of Prague, in the south east of the city.

Public transport is the best way to get around on matchday and will be free for all ticket holders from 8am on Wednesday 7 June to 8am on Thursday 8 June. The following services are included:

• All DPP-operated buses, trams, and metro services
• Suburban trains within  Zone P0  (only on matchday)

Simply show your mobile match ticket upon request by public transport staff.

From the Fan Meeting Point, take metro line A to Želivského. From there, it is a 20-minute (downhill) walk to Eden Arena.

A free shuttle bus service will also be available for West Ham supporters from the airport to the Fan Meeting Point on matchday.

Taxi travel is not recommended, but if this is your only option, rideshare services (Uber or Bolt) are more widely available than taxis.

Supporters with an organised travel package should head back to the Fan Meeting Point after the match to catch your coach back to the airport.

If your charter flight is scheduled to depart right after the match, please confirm with your tour operator that a coach from the stadium to the airport has been booked for you instead.

West Ham United will be without Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca (knee), but otherwise have a fully-fit squad.

ACF Fiorentina are also without just one player, veteran Italian goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, who has a long-term Achilles injury..

UECL Final Information...

Goal Line Technology and VAR will be in operation for the final.

Up to 12 substitutes can be named by each manager. Five substitutes are permitted to be used on three occasions, plus half-time. There are no additional ‘concussion substitutes’ available in UEFA Club Competition. In the event that the final goes to extra-time, then a sixth substitute and an additional substitution opportunity is available.

Disciplinary-wise, all accumulated yellow cards expired upon completion of the quarter-finals and no players on either side are suspended for the final.

If the score is level at the end of normal time, two 15-minute periods of extra-time are played. If the score is still level after extra-time, the winner is determined by kicks from the penalty mark. 

Opposition...

The history of Associazione Calcio Fiorentina dates back nearly 100 years and is one which has featured a number of notable highs and lows.

ACF Fiorentina was founded in 1926 by the merger of two local clubs, Club Sportivo Firenze and Palestra Ginnastica Fiorentina Libertas.

The new club would lift its first major trophy in 1940, the Coppa Italia, before winning the Serie A title – also known as the Scudetto – in 1955/56, when they romped to the championship by a 12-point margin. The following season, 1956/57, Fiorentina reached the European Cup final, but were beaten by Real Madrid.

European glory was not far away though, as Fiorentina won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1960/61, defeating Rangers in the final. The same season saw La Viola (The Violets) win a second Coppa Italia, having finished as runners-up the previous season and qualified as winners Juventus had also won the Scudetto.

The titles continued to flow to Florence in the shape of a second Scudetto in 1969 and two more Coppa Italia in 1966 and 1975.

The late 1980s and 1990s saw Fiorentina sign some outstanding players, including Roberto Baggio, Dunga, Gabriel Batistuta and Rui Costa, reach the 1990 UEFA Cup final, where they were edged out by Juventus, and win the Coppa Italia twice more, in 1996 and 2001.

In 2002, ACF Fiorentina was declared bankrupt and a phoenix club, Fiorentina Viola, was created in its place, was renamed ACF Fiorentina in 2003 and immediately won back-to-back promotions to Serie A by 2004/05!

Fiorentina have been in Serie A ever since and have mounted a number of strong challenges, finishing fourth on five occasions since 2007/08, and also regularly reached the latter stages of the Coppa Italia, but have not won a major trophy in 22 years.

Previous Meetings….

West Ham United and ACF Fiorentina have met just once previously, in the 1975 Anglo-Italian Cup, which saw the winners of England and Italy's domestic cup competitions square-off over two legs.

Wednesday's final will be refereed by Spaniard Carlos Del Cerro Grande.

The 47-year-old has been officiating in Spanish football since 2000, rising to La Liga in 2011.

He has also been on the FIFA International Referees List since 2013 and officiated at UEFA Euro 2020 in England.

This season, he has refereed UEFA Champions League ties involving Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, 21 La Liga matches, as well as last June's UEFA Nations League tie between Germany and England.
