About the Business
The West Coast Game Park Safari is proud of their ability to allow visitors a "hands on" experience with exotic and unusual animals. When visitors first enter the park gates, they will be immersed amongst hundreds of free-roaming animals for feeding and petting. They also have the freedom to walk the park to see 75 different species and over 450 animals up close. Visitors most often come away with long-lasting memories of their experiences in our presentation areas. Almost all of the park's animals have been hand-raised by Game Park staff and have grown up being handled by the public while they are young. Game Park Staff believe it's important for all of these animals to assist in educating visitors about the issues surrounding conservation and extinction. We consider these animals ambassadors for their species to you and your family, and hope that you find the interactive experience with our "family" as meaningful as we do. …

Animals are instantly interacting with you. One goat even went into the gift shop and had to be shoed out. We got to pet a baby snow leopard and a large Bob Cat. No extra fees for the interactions. First time I had ever seen a three horned goat from the middle East. I did enjoy this park and the man who worked here that I met, seemed to genuinely care for these animals. He spoke about raising some from when they were little. Of course I wanted to take them all home, but some of the enclosure designs where the cats could go up into tree like structures gave me ideas for my little lions at home.
The lions were so skinny you could see their ribs. They seemed miserable and appeared starving :(
Currently researching who to call to get this place shut down. It was incredibly heartbreaking to see these animals in their poor health and way too small enclosures. No fresh water. Feces everywhere. Weeds and overgrowth everywhere. The 3 employees that I saw in the entire park were.......... Questionable kind of people.... The woman taking payment was very direct and rude about how much the park is suffering. It was truly bizarre to be honest. I am in disbelief this place is still going. These animals deserve so much better than this.

Our family of 5 enjoyed the park today. (2 adults, 2 teens and a 10 year old). Aside from the gift shop/entrance, everything was outdoors. We loved the experience and had a good visit seeing so many animals. I felt it was a bit spendy for entry but it's not an every day thing and I'm sure caring for the animals can be expensive so it's still worth it. The kids are already talking about next time we visit! We saw many petting zoo type animals like, goats, sheep, deer and llamas which were really fun to be around. Even while walking amongst the animals the staff kept the areas clean as they moved around the enclosures and habitats. We saw plenty of exotic animals which really enhanced the experience. The best part was being able to pet and hold a few animals up close. Today we pet a young bear and jaguar as well as an opossum and fox. We even got to hold a ferret! We will be back again. We really had a great time!

This is one of the most depressing places for animals to live. The enclosures are dirty and small. The animals have open soars on them. It's clear that these animals are not happy. This place needs to shut down!
Please do not go here. The animals are in enclosures that are too small and are clearly very depressed. Most of the cats were pacing back and forth and had no enrichment. When you walk in and receive a "cone" with feed and an ice cream cone, animals outside will charge you and are very aggressive. A few of our small kids were jumped on because of it. You use the cones to feed a bear, but he barely wanted to get up for them. The monkeys just gave the wall and don't interact at all. All of the animals behavior proved that they did not enjoy being here. This place overall is just unethical.
So much fun even for our adult children! Can't wait to take the grandchildren some day'
The enclosures, for the animals are entirely too small! I let one of the staff members know that one of the deer was bleeding. She realized she would not be able to get to him since he moved to the back of the enclosure, and all the animals were eating so she said to me he'll be OK he's walking. He probably just got head butted by a goat. She didn't have any idea of how bad it was bleeding. It was nice that my kids got to see animals. I just wish they were happier. It was also nice that my children got to pet and hold animals. The lady in the front office was the rudest person I've experienced in a long time! I would recommend a completely different park I would not go here! I truly think they could do a better job.
I went here with my family thinking it would be a fun little trip to see animals. We bought our tickets and two food cups each. I'm disabled, I have to use a cane to keep myself stable and from falling over. Once I got in I was immediately swarmed by animals. My cane dropped because the animals kept jumping on me and my husband had to grab my arm to keep me from falling, so it's not an accessible facility like stated. My cane was knocked over multiple times, and now the handle has some scratches that are sharp on my hand and wiggly which is... frustrating. I was overwhelmed and started to have a panic attack after being jumped on and the other animals started hitting my hips with their heads, causing me to drop my food cups. My girlfriend had to get them away from me cause I started having a meltdown. My husband was hurt a few times by horns while he was trying to get me out of the area. I got off the property as quickly as we could. My husband went back for a refund since we spent less than 8 minutes inside and the entire time was spent trying to keep from getting hurt. We are waiting to see if they refund us or not. I don't recommend this place if you have any form of mobility aid, a physical disability, if you get overwhelmed easily or if you have small kids, they'll get hurt.
DO NOT COME. This place is SO SAD. The animals live there (keep that in mind) it's heavily advertised as a "safari" it's anything far from that! You would think with $50 for two people these animals would have larger areas they don't. I have a video of a panther circling in a small square space. Too small and not well maintained.

Safari Park
Over 75 different species of animals including lions, bears, elk, camels and chimpanzees are on display at the West Coast Game Park Safari, just south of Bandon. Established in 1968 as a roadside attraction featuring a few deer, it has expanded greatly over the years into the booming operation it is now, while maintaining the up close and personal feel of its beginnings. Visitors can roam freely throughout the park feeding and petting the tame and relatively docile animals while interacting with the more dangerous animals through cage bars and camera lenses. The habitats have been designed such that people can get a closer look than they would at other zoos.
Each day, the staff, some of whom have been with the Game Park Safari for over 20 years, present interactions with “ambassador” animals. These are the featured animals of the day, and visitors can experience them up close while learning about them and their natural environments. Ambassadors have included fascinating and typically inaccessible animals such as a caracal, baby black bear, bobcat, fox and skunk.
The staff assist visitors in interacting with other, typically more inaccessible and dangerous animals as well. Humans of all ages are seen petting skunks, raccoon, and ferrets as well as young lions, leopards, caracals, bears, and tigers.
Visitors are encouraged to purchase food for the animals roaming free, and ducks, rams, donkeys, llamas, peacocks, goats, kangaroos, deer, and geese are not bashful about approaching them for a treat. This gives the humans an opportunity to pet and feed them.
The staff have bred and hand-raised nearly all of the over 450 animals at West Coast Game Park Safari on site. They believe that it is important to educate visitors about conservation and extinction of animals, and they use the ambassador animals at the park to assist them.
No animal park would be complete without a gift shop. Visitors can find souvenirs such as figurines, stuffed animals, mugs and magnets to help them remember their visit, as well as memory cards and batteries for cameras. Small snacks and a soda vending machine are also available.
The park is wheelchair and walker accessible, and strollers and umbrellas are offered free of charge for the day. Humans of all ages are welcome, but dogs are not. The park recommends a nearby kennel for your dog. Group rates are available, and tickets can be purchased in advance by phone.
For those wishing to donate, the park is often in need of specific supplies for their variety of animals. They are typically in need of items such as toys, bottles, and chains, but see their website for a current list.
The West Coast Game Park Safari is open nearly year round, and the days and hours vary with the season.
Come for the animals, but stay in Bandon, just 8 miles to the north, for a while to enjoy the many shops, restaurants and of course the spectacular beaches. A variety of hotel options are available to make your stay more leisurely.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I took a video of all the cats because every single one was pacing frantic in there tiny gravel pins. I'm sending it to PETA. The looked so stressed out and sad. All the people around us in the zoo were freaked out as well. I heard people saying they felt guilty even taking pictures. I thought this was a rescue place but no it's just another zoo but it's worse then that because how small and un natural the animals living spaces are. My 5 year old daughter said " mommy what's wrong with the monkey" I look and there's a chimpanzee not even moving just looked so so sad. Our family left very upset.

It was cool to see but sad for the caged animals. The deer roam free and are pushy for food. But after this we kept driving 101 to head to Cali and before crossing states we came across this sign said "Tiger Preserve 8.00 a person" so we checked it out ( www.tigerpreserve.net) AMAZING!! We were totally impressed! Huge cages, one cat per cage. It was only us and the owner took us on private tour. He interacted with the cats, I have a great pic of the cat kissing him! Well taken care of!!! Plus camels, wolves and other animals to see. This is a must see! I gave him a tip!

The cages are way too small and are all concrete and rocks =( the animals were pacing and looked very upset, I will not go back.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! MISERABLE LOOKING ANIMALS ABSOLUTELY CRUEL. They capture these beautiful animals from their natural habitats and bring them here to take money from you. Please do not go here.

Took a gamble despite mixed reviews and price. Well worth it, only wish we planned for more time there. Give yourself a couple hoyrs to truly enjoy and experience all the animals. Got to pet/hold a skunk, opossum, black bear cub, deer, goats, alpacas, red fox. Too many animals to list. The staf was ver friendly, caring, and mindful of safety for the animals and guests. I saw nothing suggesting the animals were mistreated or unhappy!

The people who work here show a very obvious love for the animals in their care. This is the only 'zoo' I've ever been to where the animals seem truly happy and are playing with each other and showing some semblance of character. It's always best to go to zoos early when it's cool and the animals are more active. The price can't be beat but the pigmy goats can get REALLY pushy.

Is there something less than one star? The animals are in tiny enclosures and it’s a shame this type of place still exists. Truly not a good place to go to see the wonder of animals. Sad. Zero stars.

Give this place a shot, the reviews are clearly people who have read the previous review and feel they need to be Brie bad wagon of hate. My 2 year old loved this place, probably because it was intended for children or grown adults

Okay so the park is well worth it, kids had so much fun. But on top of that we lost an item that was very valuable to us there and they found it and kept it for us. What an amazing staff and park...Go Go Go!!!

Man stranded in boat after running aground in Ocean Park
OCEAN PARK Wash. (KPTV) - A week after a boat washed ashore in Ocean Park, it remains stuck and sitting in the sand.
The owner, who has stayed with the boat, said he has been waiting for the right opportunity to get back into the water.
Michael Bonome is the boat’s captain and said he was trying to get away from the world when he got on his boat last week. However, when he ended up aground, he ran into a community that refused to let him go through it alone.
“It’s not a bad situation,” he said. “I’m on a beach. The weather’s nice. It turned into a blessing.”
Bonome called the vessel his “bug-out boat.” After trying the vessel out numerous times on lakes and rivers, he took it into the ocean for the first-time last week.
“I decided to take the risk and see how the boat handles,” Bonome said.
He said conditions were getting bad and he was deciding if it might be wise to turn around because “the waves were getting pretty big and scary.”
Things would take a turn for the worst when the radiator hoses in the engine blew and the boat began overheating.
“The cab started smoking inside while I was fighting these big waves coming up on me,” he said. “Then I could hear the engine was about to bog out and it shut off on me.”
As the inside of the boat was filling with smoke, he poked his head out for air. He said that’s when he thought it would be a good idea to drop the anchor, but when he made his way to the back, he saw his dog had fallen into the water. He jumped in after his pet.
“An even bigger wave came and hit me,” he said. “Knocked me in. Now, I’m in there swimming for my life.”
Miraculously, he would be able to grab onto the boat and ride it ashore. He quickly realized he was freezing.

“I felt like I was going into shock,” Bonome said. “I went inside to get my clothes off as fast I could.”
In the panic and looking around, he said he was met with open arms. He found a community witnessing his troubles at sea, who were eager to step up and help.
“With the power of love from God, there was a community of people here waiting to help me,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it.”
He said an ambulance was on stand-by and ready to help. He watched as someone rescued his dog too. All the while, he said others were picking up things that had fallen out of his boat.
“It took a bad situation and turned it into a good one,” he said. History is being made, for me anyway. The love that is outpouring is overwhelming.”
Bonome said the community is trying to help get him back into the water. While the tides have been close, they haven’t been close enough to get his boat back in.
In the meantime, he said he’s unable to leave the boat or it could be considered abandoned. Until it’s figured out, he’ll be hanging out with his newfound friends and counting his blessings.
“Nobody’s hurt,” he said. “My dog is alive. It’s literally a miracle.”
If the tides won’t get his boat back in, he said some people have brought up the idea of getting a crane involved.
The Long Beach community has set up a GoFundMe for him to help get his boat back into the ocean.
