This Executive role will report to the Board of Directors (Okavango Wilderness Safaris – OWS) and work hand in hand with Group Leadership. We seek a strong executive to lead Wilderness in Botswana while providing operational and strategic support of the overall business plan for our Group.

Potential candidates should have significant private sector, hospitality, conservation and safari experience of which 10 years should have been in a senior operational leadership role. A strategic leader with strong commercial decision-making and problem-solving skills is required. Moreover, Africa experience is essential to the organisation to establish relationships with industry players, local communities, and government stakeholders as well other internal and external players. The Travel Services Assistant works as part of our administrative team to process client reservations, assemble pre-trip literature, process client payments, and provide support to our Trip Processors and regional Area Managers. Basic duties include data entry, paperwork compilation, copying and filing, phone reception, payment processing, and mail processing.

Job Title: Senior Journey Specialist Location: Rivonia, Gauteng, South Africa  Reference: # SJSUS0412 Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Market Related

Specification To generate and grow sales whilst maintaining required GP%, good agent relationships and excellent customer service by offering excellent itineraries to meet and exceed agent & guests expectations. To secure, cost and present product to the customer accurately, efficiently, timeously and with zero errors. Develop relationships with agents by continuous communication with them and be able to meet/travel with them if and when required. Deliver service excellence and itineraries to meet and exceed agents’ and guests needs and requirements. Make provisional bookings in Wilderness Window and with 3rd party’s properties, through Wilderness systems. Handle customer complaints efficiently and expediently and escalate resolution thereof when necessary. Design, develop and plan guests’ journeys. Quote journeys (product and services) accurately and timeously. Book and cancel journey (products and services) accurately and timeously. Utilizing the Wilderness Window to its full capacity. Administer confirmed bookings in a logical manner and in accordance with company procedure. Review guest travel documentation.

Requirements

REQUIRED MIN.EDUCATION / TRAINING

•Matric certificate •Computer Literate – Specifically MS Office •Proven English literacy and fluency

2. REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE •5-6 years’ experience in the travel & tourism industry. •Proven experience in handling customer relationships and developing & promoting product and services in the travel industry

3. ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGEOUS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: •Tertiary certificate in Travel & Tourism •Working knowledge of TourPlan, Wilderness Window and WISH or similar booking/operating system •General product knowledge on Southern and Eastern Africa •Personal or educational travel experience

4. PERSONAL ABILITIES •Service and result orientated. Self-starter with high energy levels. •Accuracy in service offering •Team worker with the ability to interface with customers and staff. Passionate & creative in service offering, dedicated to customer satisfaction and wanting to “go the extra mile” •Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Ability to conclude sales ensuring maximum agent and guest satisfaction and business results •Organised, methodical, systems based and good time management skills •Ability to work with detail whilst under pressure and takes pride in maintaining zero error •Can relate personally to “our journeys change lives”. •Must have a valid passport •Must be willing to work flexible hours according to business requirement
