The Arequipa Food Tour takes you to discover the delicious food in Arequipa city, which is a very popular gastronomic destination due to the "picanterias".

The "picanterías" in Arequipa date back to the 16th century, becoming famous at first for Chicha de Jora, a traditional corn-based drink, and later for the preparation of exquisite Andean and Hispanic fusion dishes.

The city of Arequipa has a spectacular gastronomy and culinary history, and if you are visiting this fantastic city, you cannot miss exploring the famous "picanterías",

Pick up at 10AM from the hotel and departure to Mercado San Camilo, the main market in Arequipa, declared Monumental Historical Heritage by UNESCO in 1987. We'll walk along San Camilo for watching and taste typical local fruits and for learning more about local products. Then we will continue by car to a "picanteria", where We will start by exploring the local cuisine, to learn about its history. In this place, we will learn the process of making the famous "Chicha de Jora", a fermented drink that dates back to the Inca times. Also, we will taste various typical entrees of Arequipa, which vary according to the day, among them "Torrejitas de Verduras", "Escribano" which is a type of salad with rocoto and the famous "Ocopa Arequipeña".

Afterwards we will go by car to another picanteria, where we will taste the delicious and traditional “Americano” dish, which consists of portions of various dishes such as “Soltero de queso”, “Estofado de res”, “Pastel de Tallarín”, "locro de pecho", “Ají de calabaza”, accompanied with rice. We cannot finish a gastronomic tour without stopping to try an exquisite dessert. On this occasion we will try the creamy "Queso Helado", made by hand. After this delicious experience, we will return to the hotel.

The Worthington Farmers Market is to open its summer season May 4 with a major honor to its credit. It has been voted by readers of USA TODAY as the nation's best farmers market.

They must be doing something right at the market that runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon along a stretch of High Street in Old Worthington. The Worthington Farmers Market topped outdoor markets that operate along the Intracoastal Waterway in West Palm Beach, Florida, and at an oceanfront park in Honolulu.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket had been voted No. 1 in USA TODAY's 10 best reader polls for three straight years. This was the first year Worthington's market was nominated by a panel of travel writers and other experts.

The result of reader votes were announced today.

"Nearly 100 vendors from the Columbus area converge for the year-round Worthington Farmers Market that adapts to the seasons," USA TODAY wrote.

"In summer, May through October, farmers and producers of high-quality food and plants sell al fresco in the Old Worthington Historic District. The rest of the year, the market goes indoors at The Shops at Worthington Place."

The last indoor market takes place Saturday before it moves outdoors for summer.

Organizers say the Worthington Farmers Market, which began in 1987, should have its highest number of vendors ever this summer.

Columbus Food Adventures another favorite

Another favorite of Columbus foodies also was voted as the nation's best by USA TODAY readers. Columbus Food Adventures , which leads geography and cuisine-based food tours in Columbus and its suburbs, topped a list of nominees that included tours in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans and Chicago.

Here's how Columbus Food Adventures was described by USA TODAY: "From neighborhood walking tours to by-van excursions and private tours, Columbus Food Adventures offers a full menu of ways to meet the area's rich culinary scene. Whether you're a meat-lover, brew-hound, taco fiend or gastronomic globe-trotter, there's a tour to fit your appetite."

Walking tours include the Short North, German Village, Grandview Avenue, Dublin and Old Worthington, while van tours hit local taco trucks or a variety of international restaurants.

Results of a third USA TODAY reader vote also were announced. Budd Dairy Food Hall , the Italian-Village collection of bars and restaurants in an old milk-bottling plant, finished at No. 3 in voting for the nation's best food hall.

Mother Road Market in Tulsa, Oklahoma, finished at the top in national voting, while the Garage Food Hall in Indianapolis finished second.

Budd Dairy was ranked sixth in a list of the best U.S. food halls posted by the global travel site Big 7 Travel .

Megadeth announces North America tour, closing out with a Nashville stop

Megadeth has announced a 2024 fall  "Destroy All Enemies Tour" that will take them all across North America. On Sept. 28, the thrash metal band will end their tour in Nashville at the Municipal Auditorium.

The 33-show tour, produced by Live Nation, will feature support from Mudvayne and All That Remains.

The two-month tour will kick off on Aug. 2 in Rogers, AR before hitting cities in Texas, California, Nevada, Florida, North Carolina and more.

The band, comprised of vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and drummer Dirk Verbeuren, is known for songs "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" and "Symphony of Destruction."

They most recently released their 2022 album "The Sick, The Dying...And The Dead!"

“Our ‘Crush The World’ tour has been a tremendous experience for the four of us,” said singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine in a statement.

“We are all playing tight, and that has made it possible for me to really focus on solos and singing, we are playing more songs than ever before, and we are closer to each other, onstage AND off. I’m excited to see Mudvayne, and All That Remains. Join us as we DESTROY ALL ENEMIES.”
