Bad Omens slither through boundaries, only to ultimately choke convention in the process. The quartet—Noah Sebastian [vocals], Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson [guitar], Nick Ruffilo [bass], and Nick Folio [drums]—materialize with ghostly atmospherics, striking hooks, and the tingles of sensual high-register harmonies uplifted by cinematic production. Racking up over 250M worldwide streams to-date and earning acclaim, the band present an uncompromising and undeniable vision on their third full-length album, THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND [Sumerian Records].

“Making the record changed us as songwriters and musicians. In many ways I feel like it set me free as an artist because every decision made in the writing process was for myself, with no fear for anyone else’s expectations of what our third album should sound like. Be it our fans or our record label.”

They’ve always wielded this level of magic though…

The group’s 2016 self-titled debut, Bad Omens , yielded fan favorites such as “Glass Houses” and “The Worst In Me,” which eclipsed 20.4 million Spotify streams. On its heels, 2019’s Finding God Before God Finds Me spawned “Dethrone” [9.5 million Spotify streams] and “Careful What You Wish For” [8.8 million Spotify streams]. Along the way, they toured with numerous marquee acts and received tastemaker praise.

After their first headline tour was canceled mid-way at the top of the Global Pandemic, the band found themselves at home in Los Angeles with plenty of time. Where they absorbed and imparted a different palette of unexpected inspirations. Channeling what the frontman describes at times as a “cursive sound , ” they embraced a newfound confidence and boundlessly loose creativity. Anything went in the studio, and all “rules” were broken. Noah and Jolly wrote, produced, and engineered the music themselves while GRAMMY ® Award-nominated producer and songwriter Zakk Cervini [Halsey, Grimes, Poppy, blink-182] lent his talents with the mix and master. Challenging himself, Noah decided to “make a track sampling items around the house, none of which were musical instruments . ”

This ultimately became the framework for the first single “THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND.” Claps puncture the icy soundscape as his voice stretches from a breathy moan into an evocative and entrancing hook, breaking from a whisper into the seductive chant, “It wasn’t hard to realize. Love’s the death of peace of mind.” It culminates on a climactic scream uplifted by a distorted crunch.

“The whole record really details the loss of peace of mind,” he explains. “The lyrics in the title track are a little more specific in terms of the conflict at the heart of something more intimate and personal.”

Then, there’s “TAKE ME FIRST.” The vocals swirl around a syncopated riff before bleeding into a skyscraping refrain.

“It was written in the moment about another personal experience,” he goes on. “As I zoomed out, I actually felt like at times I was talking about the band and not just this one experience. Now in several ways, to me it’s about what we face and go through as a band right now.”

Elsewhere, his feral delivery tears through a guttural groove on “ARTIFICIAL SUICIDE,” while emotionally charged vocals coast above a string-laden hum on “JUST PRETEND” before a rush of distortion on the hook.

“There are a lot of scenes and elements addressed in the lyrics about social media and the disconnect,” he goes on. “Every song traces back to not being able to have peace of mind because of something, whether it’s your guilt, regret, indifference with things you can’t change, or because you’re struggling to pay your bills. There are so many messages represented across the record, but it all falls back to how I wish I could feel at ease.”

By speaking it aloud, Bad Omens offer a level of comfort and empathy, with a sinister shroud. At the same time, they also give rock music a sexy new shape on THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND .

“Sonically, we want to do something you can’t arrive late or early too,” he leaves off. “You can’t cheat your way to the final act. You have to get on the ride and process it until the end. The songs are meant to be heard from start to finish. We want you to take the whole trip with us.”

Holy. Sh*t. Without a doubt the best show i’ve been to this year. Even though Noah was feeling under the weather he put on a phenomenal performance. Their music never fails to amaze me. The amount of raw talent that these guys have is absolutely mind boggling.

‘Nowhere To Go’ But The Bad Omens Show – Concert Recap/Review

Samantha Bambino September 22, 2023 News , Reviews Comments Off on ‘Nowhere To Go’ But The Bad Omens Show – Concert Recap/Review

When it comes to concerts, I like to think that I’m a veteran. From my first show experience at around the age of 8 (my dad took me to see Shania Twain!) to holding my own against 300-lb men in Motionless in White pits, I’ve seen and done it all. But for the first time, ahead of Bad Omens’ Philadelphia performance at Franklin Music Hall (which locals still refer to as the Electric Factory), I was a little nervous about how the sold-out show would go down.

The evening prior, when the band — comprised of Noah Sebastian, Nicholas Ruffilo, Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson and Nick Folio — played at New York’s Terminal 5, Noah had to stop what he was doing to essentially reprimand the crowd.

I don’t know what the fuck’s going on in this area right here, but this shit is not about just one of you, OK? Tonight is about everyone that paid hard earned fucking money to be here to have a good time. Whatever kind of fucking tough guy ego shit you got going on in the mosh pit area or the front row, or trying to get your fucking TikTok view close-up shit, we are here at a fucking rock show, metal show, to have a good ass time. And if you cannot take the intensity, please find a place that you are comfortable to stand…
@zoeyokai I honestly had secondhand embarrassment last night 😭 the amount of videos I have of the crowd being unruly is more than I have from ANY metal/rock show I’ve gone to…and I’m well seasoned. Damn. From seeing Bad Omens 2017 Warped Tour Full Sail Stage and many more after, yeah…I can say their crowds have changed. #badomens #terminal5nyc #terminal5 #noahsebastian ♬ original sound – Zoe Yokai

In response to a video of this incident, one fan elaborated on what happened: “When the pit opened up even just a little, people rushed in to take videos and got mad they got hit.”

For anyone who’s not aware, Bad Omens and its track “Just Pretend” blew up in recent months on TikTok, with non-metalcore fans latching onto the song and, even more so, Noah. This social media popularity, in turn, has led to an influx of show-goers who are unfamiliar with — and unprepared for — the world of mosh pits, walls of death and crowd surfers. In fact, Noah has been vocal in interviews about the band’s “split” fan base, and how he wishes those uncomfortable with metal show etiquette (and the 99.9 percent chance they’ll get at least bumped if standing front and center) would move to the sides or back.

So, going into the Philly show on Sept. 13, I desperately hoped that there wouldn’t be issues similar to the night before. As a first-time Bad Omens concert-goer, I wanted to see the band in its element — not having to stop for crowd shenanigans. Thankfully, the Concrete Forever  tour went off without a hitch in the City of Brotherly Love.

Bad Omens

After grabbing my giant Miller Lite and snagging a spot in the first row of the bar area (my 30-year-old back and knees were so  grateful to have a rail to lean on), I settled in for the show. I See Stars (anyone else remember their whole controversy with Ronnie Radke?) and ERRA were first, both of whom got the crowd energized.

Then, it was time for Bad Omens. It must be said that not every band sounds as great live as they do on the record, but that’s not the case for these guys. Noah was in top voice as he navigated the wide-ranging setlist, which included mellow, vibey songs like “bad decisions,” dancey ones like IDWT$, and metal bangers like “Nowhere to Go” (my favorite) and “Dethrone.”

Check out the full setlist below:

ARTIFICIAL SUICIDE Like a Villain The Grey Never Know Glass Houses What do you want from me? bad decisions Nowhere to Go IDWT$ Broken Youth Miracle Limits Take Me First THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND Just Pretend CONCRETE JUNGLE (encore) Dethrone (encore)

Yes, every cell phone in the place went up during “Just Pretend,” but Noah didn’t have to stop and break up the tension between moshers and TikTokers. At one point, he told the crowd, “That was better than yesterday, good job.” This crowd hung onto Bad Omens’ every word and command. For example, when he growled “concrete,” there wasn’t a moment’s hesitation before the whole place yelled “JUNGLE.”

Bad Omens

According to Noah,  Concrete Forever  is Bad Omens’ fourth consecutive sold-out tour. As a self-admitted homebody, he questioned why anyone — let alone thousands of people — would leave the comfort of their couches to see him. Still, he’s extremely grateful that they do.

What worked

So much worked about  Concrete Forever , from the stage visuals to the merch selections. While the setlist was naturally The Death of Peace of Mind -heavy (the tour is promoting that album, after all), the band sprinkled in old favorites like “Limits” and “Glass Houses,” the latter of which was a standout moment of the show. Who  doesn’t  get hype while scream-singing the lyrics, “I see through you, I know what you are, I’ve seen the Devil more than I’ve seen God?” Noah is also an excellent showman, working the crowd and even tossing in a costume change (by costume change, we mean going from jacket to tank top).

What didn’t work

My one complaint is that, given Bad Omens’ popularity, they need to start playing bigger venues. Franklin Music Hall is a decent size, but it fills up quickly. In my opinion, The Fillmore — which seemed  massive  compared to the former when I attended the following Sunday for All Time Low — would’ve been a much better fit. Maybe next year?

In pictures: The opening night of Bad Omens’ European headline tour with Poppy

After spending a fortnight supporting Bring Me The Horizon in sold out arenas across the UK and Ireland , Virginia metalcore crew Bad Omens are now tearing across the continent on a 13-date headline tour with genreless enigma Poppy in tow.

Kicking things off at a rammed-to-capacity Columbiahalle in Berlin, Bad Omens blasted through pretty much all of latest LP The Death Of Peace Of Mind – opening with the blistering ARTIFICIAL SUICIDE and almost blowing the roof off with the anthemic title-track.

Elsewhere they dove into their 2016 debut album for the choice cuts of Glass Houses and Broken Youth, but it was perhaps the first-ever performance of new track V.A.N. with Poppy that sent the night properly into overdrive. Seriously, have been on the internet today? It's everywhere .

Swipe through our exclusive gallery for a taste of the Bad Omens live experience. You're going to be seeing a lot more of them, that's for sure.

Bad Omens Book Late 2022 Tour With Dayseeker, Make Them Suffer + Thousand Below

In support of their new album  The Death of Peace of Mind , Bad Omens will embark on a headlining tour in the U.S. and Canada this fall. It's quite the package too, with Dayseeker , Make Them Suffer and Thousand Below all tapped for support.

Dubbed A Tour of the Concrete Jungle, this run will make 27 stops, beginning in Charlotte, N.C. on Nov. 3 and coming to an end back alongside the east coast in New York City on Dec. 11.

The bands will be putting quite a lot of miles on their buses and/or vans with an ambitious stretch of dates ahead of them as they venture to 20 states and two Canadian provinces, oftentimes with especially long drives between shows.

While Bad Omens will be out promoting their new release, Dayseeker, who will provide direct support each night, will look back through their catalog with 2019's  Sleeptalk being their most recent effort. A 2022 single, however, seems to indicate more may be coming soon. Australian metalcore act Make Them Suffer are still riding high on 2020's  How to Survive a Funeral and San Diego post-hardcore unit Thousand Below, who also issued a new single this year, are expected to play a mix of songs from their two records, the latest being  Gone In Your Wake  from 2019.

See the full list of tour dates below. Artist and Spotify pre-sales begin today (Aug. 23) at 12PM ET and the general on sale will start on Aug. 26 at 10AM local time. Get tickets here .

Bad Omens at Fillmore Auditorium

Bad omens tickets, fillmore auditorium | denver, colorado.

Last year, Virginia-born alternative metal band Bad Omens released The Death of Peace of Mind, which became their first studio effort to reach number 1! With an incredible new record, it was only logical that the band supports the album with a massive outing titled A Tour of the Concrete Jungle – which all sold out! That's why they are extending the album's promotions with a massive 2023 trek, the Concrete Forever Tour! At the start of the year, the worldwide outing sold out three nights at the Dome in the U.K. Meanwhile, the band made waves in Australia when they made an appearance at Knotfest. This fall, Bad Omens are making their way across North America and fans are now scrambling for tickets! Kicking off in September, the tour will cover over 30 dates across major cities, including a stop at the Fillmore Auditorium on Friday, 29th September 2023! Expect nothing but massive hits and alt-metal staples when you come and see Bad Omens in Denver! Grab your tickets now before they’re gone!

Bad Omens at Fillmore Auditorium

Bad Omens has been around since 2015, and they’re on the brink of a massive commercial breakthrough. Dropped in 2016, their eponymous debut album entered four Billboard categories, including peaking at 9 on the Heatseekers chart. Released via Sumerian Records, the album featured the alternative-metal fusion staples “Glasses Houses,” “Exit Wounds,” “The Worst in Me,” and “The Fountain. The critically-acclaimed effort was profusely compared to Bring Me the Horizon’s music. However, fans have consistently attested to the band’s unique nu-metal/ alternative fusion. Their exemplary work with their debut album scored them numerous gigs in larger venues and appearances on the highly-coveted Warped Tour. Their eclectic music style has garnered praise from both rock, punk, and metal fans.

During the promotion of their album, the band embarked on a number of supporting tours. In 2019, they released their sophomore album, Finding God Before God Finds Me. The album soared to number 4 on the Heatseekers chart and performed impressively in three other categories. The album notably spawned “Never Know,” the band’s first single to enter the Mainstream Rock chart. The following year, Bad Omens went on their first major headline tour. However, the trek was cut short due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Hence, with fans hungry for Bad Omens’ live performance, their 2022 run became a mega success, with several sold-out dates. Additionally, last October, the band made headlines when they sold out every date of Tour of the Concrete Jungle months in advance. The tour’s success can be stemmed from their groundbreaking new album, The Death of Peace of Mind. The effort was their first record to go number 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. It also happened to spawn the band’s first single to go number 1 on two charts. Released in 2022, “Just Pretend” topped Mainstream Rock and Hard Rock Digital Songs.

This 2023, the band is anticipated to once again sell out their fall tour. So if you’re keen on seeing the fastest-rising stars in the heavy metal scene, you should quickly secure tickets now.

BAD OMENS Pulls Out of SENSES FAIL Tour, Allegedly Because of The Size of Their Name on Tour Artwork

MISERY WILL FIND YOU TOUR UPDATE pic.twitter.com/nlgtoVNhi7 — Senses Fail (@SensesFail) November 8, 2018

BAD OMENS Pulls Out of SENSES FAIL Tour, Allegedly Because of The Size of Their Name on Tour Artwork

"We are always professional and respectful with the bands that we tour with. Anyone that's toured with us can attest to that. We are not a band that creates problems or ever finds itself involved in "drama". With that being said the last thing we wanted to do was make a big deal out of our departure from the tour with Senses Fail / Amity Affliction when announcing that we would no longer be on it. But due to both Senses Fail and The Amity Affliction's attempts to publicly drag our name in the mud along with all of the online bullying they've not only welcomed but encouraged – they've forced our hand. "The terms of our deal to be the direct support act on this co-headline tour were negotiated prior to accepting the tour and they were not honored. Our team politely and professionally asked it to be honored before the tour was announced and they refused. Specific assets requested were neither sent or approved. After all of this and the tour still going live we did our best to remedy the situation to stay involved and we were met with total disrespect. At this point it was a matter of principle. We aren't going to be another young band that gets pushed around by older bands. Sorry if that doesn't work for you. This public shaming campaign the bands have created online is both ironic and symbolic to the situation, as well as confirmation we made the right choice by leaving this tour. I grew up listening to Senses Fail and I never imagined they would stimulate this kind of bullying or shaming over something so trivial – this unprofessional and ugly behavior is highly disappointing. None the less we wish the bands the best on their tour, and we apologize to anyone we've disappointed by dropping off the tour. "Standing up for yourself in any type of relationship, whether business or personal, is something Bad Omens believes in. Sometimes that means people get upset, hence having to write this."

Schoolboy Q Is Going On A Quick Tour Of The US This Summer With ‘Blue Lips Weekends’

Derrick Rossignol

March was a major month for Schoolboy Q fans, as the rapper dropped Blue Lips , his first album since 2019’s Crash Talk . The project features collaborations with folks like Ab-Soul, AzChike, Freddie Gibbs, and Rico Nasty, and has been regarded by some critics as one of Schoolboy’s best albums yet. If that sounds like something you’d want to see live on stage, the good news is that Schoolboy has decided to take the album on tour.

The bad news is that as it stands now, he’s offering relatively limited opportunities to see it. Yesterday (April 24), the rapper announced Blue Lips Weekends , a series of concerts in July and August that, yes, take place during the weekends, allowing for a relatively relaxed touring schedule.

Information about specific venues isn’t available yet, but we do know that the tour will hit major cities like Toronto, Chicago, Atlanta, Brooklyn, San Francisco, and Seattle, among others. Tickets aren’t for sale yet, but fans can RSVP here to be notified when more information is available.

Check out the list of tour dates below.
