15 Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailers (2020 & 2022 Trailers)

travel trailer

One of my favorite memories growing up as a young kid was hitting the road with my family on the weekends and camping in the beautiful green back forest of Oregon. That isn’t to say that it was all sunshine and bluebirds. There were some nights that were rather uncomfortable, and I longed for the comfort of my own bed. It would have been perfect if at the time we had a trailer with a nice set of bunk beds. Below in this post are the best travel trailers with bunk beds that I wish I had growing up. Many of the trailers selected are new for 2018.

15 Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

How We Created Our List Of Bunkhouse Trailers

There are a decent amount of options for trailers with bunk beds, but our goal was to only select the highest quality trailers.

We put in hours of research to select the ones that based on reviews, manufacture rating, and features could be considered the best options.

I hope you like what we selected. Please send us a message with your feedback if you feel something should be added or removed from the list, and I will be sure to make the update.

Trailer Overview

Coleman has been around for awhile now. They have had since the year 1900 to work out the logistics of their operations, and to understand the best way to fulfill their obligations to their customers. They have done pretty well. Overall, they have a good reputation for producing what are considered quality products that suit the entry or luxury class to which that particular RV is ascribed. As for the Lantern series, Dutchmen has remained consistent in their approach. Perusing the internet forums, you will find a relatively satisfied customer base. There is a lighter version of this series called LT Lantern. Click here , if your tow vehicle requires something a bit lighter.

2. Palomino Puma Travel Trailer

2. Palomino Puma Travel Trailer

Defining Features

  • Double Entry Doors (Where Applicable)
  • Pass-Thru Storage (Where Applicable)
  • Power Awning
  • Rubber Roof with a 12 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty
  • Rain Gutters with Large Drop Spouts
  • One-Piece, 24’ Sheet, ⅝” Floor Decking with 25 Year Limited Manufacturer’s Warranty
  • 2-20 Pound Gas Bottles
  • 6 Gallon DSI Hot Water Heater
  • 80” Interior Height
  • Floor Ducted Heat
  • 35,000 BTU Furnace
  • Fiberglass Cap
  • Dry weight 6370-9109

Looking through the floor plans, you will find a large selection of bunkhouse layouts. If their claims are true, Palomino offers the largest selection of bunkhouses in the industry. They have also made the claim that they have a “multitude” of standard features, and I have found that to be true as well (As you can see from the snippet above).

As with almost every RV out there, the craftsmanship is more than questionable. Reports of screws falling out and glued areas needing re-gluing are fairly common. However, I’m not coming across reports of anything serious falling apart. I’m finding a lot of people happy with this line of campers.

3. Keystone Hideout Travel Trailer

Keystone Hideout

  • Diamond Plate
  • Black Tank Flush
  • Full Walk on Roof
  • 96” Exterior Width
  • Lighted Adjustable Power Awning
  • 6 Cubit Feet Refrigerator (Residential for 38BHDS, 38FDDS, 38FKDS, 38FQDS)
  • Built-In 30,000 BTU Furnace
  • 81” Interior Height
  • 4 ½’ Crowned Roof
  • Sleeps 6-10
  • Dry weight 5785-8015

The more popular the brand, the more prolific the complaints. Browsing through the complaint sites, you will find many unhappy customers. However, according to polls and forums, Keystone is a decent manufacturer. According to one poll, 90% of the Keystone customer base would purchase a Keystone again which is a stunningly good percentage.

4. Dutchmen Aspen Trail Travel Trailer

4. Dutchmen Aspen Trail travel trailer

  • Hardwood Cabinet Doors
  • 6 Cubic Feet Gas/Electric Refrigerator
  • 6 Gallon Gas/Electric Water Heater with DSI
  • 82” Interior Height, 6 Feet Ceiling in Slide Room
  • 13,500 BTU Ducted Air
  • High Output Furnace
  • Heated and Enclosed Underbelly
  • Seamless One Piece Roof / Walk-On Roof
  • Diamond Plate Rock Guard
  • Front and Rear Stabilizing Jacks
  • Sleeps 8-11
  • Dry weight 4,811 – 8609

This is a budget class of travel trailers, but it doesn’t act like it. When the compliments are much easier to find than the complains; you’ve probably got something good happening. At least, that’s the case in the RV world. floor plans are well-designed, I’m finding pretty consistent customer service, and good warranty response.

5. Crossroads Zinger Travel Trailer

5. Crossroads Zinger travel trailer

  • Black Tank Flush System
  • 54 Gallon Fresh Water Tank
  • Enclosed and Heated Underbelly with Forced Heat
  • Outside Shower with Hot and Cold Water
  • Nitrogen-filled Tires
  • 6 Cubic Feet Gas/Electric DSI Refrigerator
  • Stainless Steel Oven and Microwave
  • Wall Mounted Systems Monitor Panel
  • Dry weight 5828 – 8770

Crossroads is one of the many subsidiaries of the Thor company collective. Thor started in 1980, and it has grown dramatically. The range of the RV quality varies, but the Crossroads Zinger has some pretty good feedback.

As far as budget class travel trailers go, relatively speaking, these are solidly built with good quality control. Most warranty problems seem to come to reasonable resolutions. They have some lightweight models (Less than 5,000 Pounds), so the weaker tow vehicles have some options.

6. Jayco Jay Fight SLX

Jayco Jay Fight SLX

  • 2-Year Limited Warranty
  • 6-Gallon Gas Water Heater (7-Feet-Wide floor plans)
  • 6-Gallon DSI Water Heater (8-Feet-Wide floor plans)
  • Stabilizer Jacks with Sand Pads(2 in 7-Feet-Wide; 4 in 8-Feet-Wide)
  • Front Diamond Plate
  • Bathroom Skylight
  • Sleeps 3-13
  • Dry weight 2,555 – 7,445

Jayco trailers has been around for half a century, and like Thor, has built an empire. The SLX’s are one of many model lines, and one of its standout features is its lightweight floor plans. If you are interested in the lighter weight plans, you should be aware of the floors. Some floor plans have composite flooring and some have plywood. It has been noted that the Jayco’s composite flooring can develop soft spots, and that the plywood floors don’t have that issue.

Aside from the composite flooring, it has a good reputation. There are some expected durability issues and those, of course, become bigger issues as “lightweight” becomes the highlight feature.

7. Keystone LAREDO

Keystone LAREDO

  • Exterior Marine Grade Speakers
  • Fully Enclosed Underbelly
  • Exterior Shower with Hot & Cold Water
  • Auto Leveling Jack
  • Dinette and Storage
  • Residential-size Cabinets

  • 2-30 LP Bottle with Auto Changeover
  • Arched Ceiling
  • 8 Cubic Foot Refrigerator
  • 50” Residential Showers
  • Sleeps 4-10
  • Dry weight 6235 – 12935

These travel trailers have a reputation for being a good value for their price-point. Minor repairs throughout are expected, as with everything. The quality is good, so it is dependable enough.

8. Micro Lite Bunkhouse

Micro Lite Bunkhouse

  • Engineered Mold and Mildew Resistant Floor Covering
  • Ducted Furnace
  • 13,5000 BTU Ducted Air (N/A 19FBS, 19FD, 19FDBH)
  • 13,5000 Roof A/C (Optional 19FDBH, 19FBS, 19FD)

  • Single Door Auto Gas/Electric (19FDBH, 19FD, 19FBS)
  • Gas Oven (Required 23FBKS, 25DBS, 25KS)
  • Water-Pur Filtration System
  • 110 DSI Gas/Electric Six Gallon “Quick Recovery” Water Heater By-Pass Kit
  • Dry weight 3,339 – 5,277

As you can tell by both the name and the weight range, these are the trailers of choice if you don’t have a strong tow vehicle. Their compact floor plans are great for vacationing on a budget.

2016 Dealer Satisfaction Index Quality Circle Award Winner

Inconsistent quality is a pretty big problem. Some reviews are shining and others are not. Looking through reviews and forums, customer service does not appear to be great. Multiple owners have reported having difficulty getting through to the company and some say that the calls are never returned.

10. The Voltage

The Voltage

  • In-Command Operating System ( Control RV Functions From Phone )
  • Central Vacuum
  • Rear Electric Jacks
  • Furion Stereo System with Upgraded Powered Subwoofer
  • Full Sized 21” Oven
  • Atwood 10 Gallon Gas Electric Water Heater w/DSI and 19.7 Gallon/Hours Recovery
  • 8 Cubic Feet Refrigerator
  • Queen Bed (Depends on the Model)
  • King Bed (Depends on the Model)
  • Satellite Prep for All Four TV Locations
  • Cherry Hardwood Cabinet Doors
  • Voltage Happi-Jac Electric Bed & Roll Over Sofa System w/Table
  • Prepped for Solar Power
  • Sleeps 7 – 13
  • Dry weight 13,113 – 15,983

There are two versions the Voltage Line. There is the Voltage line and then there is the Voltage Epic line. Both of them offer the bunk bed feature, but we are just going to focus on the Basic Voltage line for today.

The more I look into Dutchmen, the more I like them. Out of the many manufacturers that I have researched (50+), they are one of the most consistently praised by their patrons. I’m not getting paid to say that; It is just what I have noticed.

11. Keystone RV Outback Ultra Lite

Keystone RV Outback Ultra Lite

  • Large Panoramic Windows
  • 36” Flush Floor Slides
  • Bath Skylight
  • His and Her Lighting
  • Tub Surround
  • Polypropylene Heated Enclosed Underbelly
  • Outside Camp Kitchen (Most Models)
  • Front Diamond Plate Rock Guard
  • Electric Awning with LED Strip Lights
  • Sleeps 4 – 8
  • Dry weight 4,921 – 6,676

Considered to be medium-level quality trailer with a relatively pleased customer base. It is lightweight, so there will be a drop in overall durability. The most prolific issues seem to be with the roof, so do a thorough inspection of the ceiling before purchasing if this line of trailers interest you.

12. Freedom Express Ultra Lite

Freedom Express Ultra Lite

Defining Features (The features listed the Freedom Value Package)

  • 2 External Speakers, 4 rnal Speakers
  • Ducted Furnace (Not in Trailers Smaller Than 25’)
  • Ducted Ceiling, Air Conditioning (Not in Trailers Smaller Than 25’)
  • Satellite Ready
  • Spare Tire Kit
  • Heated Enclosed Underbelly (Not in the Expandable’s)
  • Sleeps 8 – 10
  • Dry weight 5,263 – 7,734

The 320BHDS has been noted to have a “design flaw” that ruins the floors with water when driving through hard rain. It appears to be an issue with that specific model, so be aware of that. The year was unspecified.

Coachmen was purchased by Forest River in 2008, and some have expressed concern about a potential drop in dependability. However, the quality hasn’t appeared to be negatively affected, and overall, they seem to be maintaining a level of quality that is competitively consistent.

13. Shasta Travel Trailer

Shasta Trailer

  • 18,000 BTU Furnace
  • Marine Grade External Speakers
  • 13,500 BTU AC
  • 6 Cubic Foot Refrigerator (3’ for 18’ models)
  • 3-Burner Cooking Stove
  • 1-Year Coachnet Roadside Assistance Program
  • 1-Year Forest River Hitch-to-Bumper Warranty
  • Sleeps up-to 10
  • Dry weight 3,182 – 5,893

Good construction, good interior storage, and wide-bodied; those are the kinds of comments that I have been coming across. I’m not finding a lot of bad reviews with this one. This line of trailers has an uncommonly positive level of feedback

14. Forest River Salem

Salem Trailer

  • 12-Year Roof Warranty
  • Triple Seal Slide Out System
  • Dometic Double Door Refrigerator (2 Year Warranty)
  • 3 Burner Range (2 Year Warranty)
  • 13,500 BTU Roof Air Conditioner w/ Quick Cool
  • 25BTU Suburban Forced Air DSI Furnace w/ Digital Thermostat (2 Year Warranty)
  • Solid Bedroom PrivacyDoors (Most Models)
  • Dry weight 6,223 – 9,139

Forest River is a budget class RV, so I’m not going to lie and say that everything is fantastic. The sealant will need to be replaced, screws are going to pop out, and parts will eventually fall into disrepair. You should do your research, so that you know what you should expect from an RV within this price range. After accepting that these lower-priced RVs are going to be problematic, you will know whether or not you should pay for something a bit higher up on the RV food chain.

So, why am I recommending it? Honestly, it isn’t a horrible starting point. If you aren’t ready to buy a mid-to-high range RV, then this is a good early step. It will serve you provided that you are also ready to serve it with a little elbow grease and a little more know-how.

15. Shadow Cruiser

Shadow Cruiser

  • 6’9” Vaulted Ceiling
  • Dual Ducted 13.5 BTU A/C
  • High Gloss Fiberglass Exterior
  • Hardwood Framed Cabinet Doors
  • Power Awning with LED Strip
  • 6 Gallon DSI Gas/Electric Water Heater
  • Dry weight 4,340 – 7,260

Built on a budget; the Shadow Cruiser isn’t a top of the line class. It is, however, a way for families to get into the camper life without breaking the bank. These are some of the best selling RVs on the market because they make the first steps of this RV adventure a little bit easier. If you are prepared to take on the responsibilities of RV ownership…and that means making the occasional repair that budget RVs inherently present, then this might be an RV line worth considering.

Easy Alternative Bunk Bed Option

Buying a new travel trailer is a big purchase and I along with others recommend looking around for a year before your purchase since it gives you time to see all the models on the market as well as for the new models to gather up some reviews. An easy option in the meantime is to simply pack a set of bunk beds in your current trailer. This bunk bed from Kid-O-Bunk on Amazon is a nice alternative that may work nicely for you until you are ready to make the big purchase.

Conclusion on RVs with Bunk Beds

There are a lot of trailers to choose from when deciding on the best bunkhouse trailer for your family and there are still more to choose from that we did not include on our list. I recommend this list as merely a starting point. Not every trailer that is good for one family is good for another. Features vary widely and it’s important you take your time to choose the right one for your family. Explore the options available and see what works for you.

Most average size travel trailers can comfortably sleep between four and six people at a time, depending on their size and layout.

However, for those traveling with larger or extended families, these sleeping capacities can often be inadequate, which is where bunkhouse travel trailers come in.

As travel trailers with bunkhouses, often double the sleeping capacity of a standard camper , allowing anywhere from six to ten people to comfortably sleep inside the trailer.

So for those looking for a travel trailer with a larger sleeping capacity, we’ve scoured the RV market to find some of the best and most popular travel trailers with bunkhouses .

Because while the East to West Della Terra 291BH offers a much larger and nicer bunkhouse as well as a much higher sleeping capacity compared to smaller and lighter bunkhouse travel trailers, it also has a much heavier weight, requiring a much larger and more substantial tow vehicle.

As the Della Terra 291BH has a dry weight of 8,328 pounds and a hitch weight of 1,190 pounds, which would require a 3/4 or 1-ton truck to pull it, such as a Ford F-250 or Ford F-350 .

The Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailers of 2024

bunkhouse travel trailer sleeps 12

Bunkhouse floorplans are unique, providing more sleeping space than other floorplans. Families significantly benefit from bunk beds. Whether for grandparents taking their grandchildren on a weekend camping trip or a family heading cross-country , bunkhouses offer designated sleeping spaces for children.

These floorplans are also easier to manage. Instead of converting a dinette or sofa every night, kids can sleep soundly in comfortable beds. No one has to remove cushions or reattach a pedestal table for the day’s events.

A bunkhouse travel trailer is also an excellent option for people who want a more affordable towable RV. Fifth wheels are generally more expensive than travel trailers. So, if you’re a camping family with a limited budget, there are bunkhouse travel trailers to suit your needs.

You’ll notice that trailer models have abbreviations like FK, RK, BH, RL, and others. These letters indicate the type of floorplan. For example, FK or RK means “front kitchen” or “rear kitchen.” RL means “rear living.” If you’re searching for a bunkhouse unit, look for the letters BH. Ten of the twelve models we’ve listed below use this abbreviation. So, not all bunkhouse travel trailers will have the BH, but most do.

What Are The Best 2024 Bunkhouse Travel Trailers?

Couple searching for the best bunkhouse travel trailers at an RV Show

We’ve chosen 12 of the best bunkhouse travel trailer floorplans, ideal for campers looking for additional sleeping space. Whether you need double over double bunks for more than two children or single bunks to provide private sleeping spaces for one or two kids, we’re sure you’ll find a model you love in the list below.

Remember that bunkhouse travel trailer floorplans need room for bunk beds, which means the living space is usually smaller. Unless you’re willing to go long and heavy, you’ll have to sacrifice space in the kitchen, dining, and living areas to provide the individual sleeping space of bunk beds.

Here’s our list of the 12 best bunkhouse travel trailers of 2024:

Keystone Springdale Classic 1800BH

Keystone hideout sport 175bh, forest river campsite reserve 26cj, east to west longitude 285bh, forest river wolf den 16ev, heartland pioneer bh261, jayco jay flight slx 260bh, coleman lantern lt 18bh, forest river cherokee grey wolf 26dbh, jayco jay flight slx 174bh, forest river alpha wolf 26dbh-l, heartland mallard tailwind t265bh.

Five other models that narrowly missed our top 12 include the following:

  • Keystone Springdale Classic 1760BH
  • Heartland Mallard M26
  • Forest River Campsite Reserve 23LM
  • Jayco Jay Flight SLX 184BSW
  • Coleman Lantern LT 274BH

To make them easier for you to compare, we’ve separated them by RV manufacturer:

Keystone Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Keystone RV is a well-respected brand in the RV industry. Cole Davis founded Keystone in 1996. Since then, the company has worked its way to the top of the towable RV market. Today, there are over one million Keystone owners, making the brand the top manufacturer of towable RVs in North America. Currently, Keystone produces travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth wheels, and destination trailers.

Keystone Springdale Classic 1800BH

Travel Trailer Specs

  • Length: 20’6”
  • Dry Weight: 3,036 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,314 pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Why I Chose It: Compact, simple design

The Keystone Springdale Classic line offers single-axle travel trailers towable by light-duty vehicles. The 1800BH features a rear corner set of bunk beds next to a full bathroom. There’s a small kitchen equipped with a 3.3-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator, a microwave, a sink, and a two-burner gas range.

I love the simple design of this trailer. There are no slide-outs, which limits the interior space, but this also reduces potential repairs and overall wear-and-tear of these mechanisms. The kitchen and bathroom have everything you need to cook and clean without all the extras, making the Keystone Springdale 1800BH budget-friendly.

Across from the kitchen is a booth dinette with overhead storage for pots, flashlights, s’mores roasting sticks, and more. A queen bed sits in the front of the trailer. There’s more overhead storage for clothes and a closet to stow dirty laundry or hang jackets.

If you’re a family of three or four, this bunkhouse travel trailer floorplan is an excellent option since it gives each person a private sleeping area and a place for the family to gather at mealtime. You can also utilize the dinette for card games or rainy-day art activities.

  • Dry Weight: 3,020 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,330 pounds

The Keystone Hideout Sport 175BH also has the rear single over single bunk beds beside the bathroom. I love this layout – and the previous one – because of the kids’ easy access to the bathroom. The bathroom is just a foot away if there’s a nighttime emergency.

The refrigerator is half the size of the Classic unit’s, at 3.3 cubic feet, but the kitchen still has a microwave, two-burner cooktop, and sink. There’s also the booth dinette with overhead storage, the queen bed with shelf storage, and a closet. The Keystone Hideout Sport 175BH has a 10-foot powered awning, just like the Springdale Classic.

Like the Classic 1800BH, the Keystone Hideout Spot 175BH is an excellent option for a small family who just wants the basics. If you want an entry-level trailer with space to accommodate three or four people, this bunkhouse travel trailer may be perfect for your needs.

Forest River Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Forest River is one of the giants of the RV empire. The company not only has its line of travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, destination trailers, tent campers, and motorhomes, but it also owns other brands like Coachmen, Dynamax, Palomino, East to West, Prime Time, and Shasta.

If you’ve been to an RV show or walked around the campground, you’ve likely seen dozens of Forest River units. While narrowing down such a large selection is challenging, I’ve chosen four Forest River models to make the list of the top 12 best bunkhouse travel trailers in 2024.

  • Length: 32’9”
  • Dry Weight: 6,421 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,253 pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 8

Why I Chose It: Ample storage

If you need a large travel trailer with a bunkhouse, the Forest River Campsite Reserve 26CJ is one of the most spacious options on my list. It features rear corner double over double bunk beds, so there’s room for each to sleep two kids. Beside the bunks is the full bathroom, again conveniently located near the kids for nighttime emergencies.

In the center of this bunkhouse travel trailer is a large slide-out with a booth dinette and sofa. The kitchen has an L-shaped countertop, providing plenty of room for meal prep. The front bedroom has a king bed, and the exterior features an outside TV mount and a small kitchen.

What I love most is the ample storage throughout the unit. There’s a cabinet next to the bunk beds for the kids’ clothing. There’s more storage underneath the bottom bunk for extra toilet paper or toys. Behind the entertainment center are hidden shelves for pantry storage, and there’s a separate pantry closet to help stow away pans and kitchen gadgets. In the front bedroom, there’s overhead storage and a closet. The Forest River Campsite Reserve 26CJ is full of storage options.

  • Length: 21’9”
  • Dry Weight: 2,995 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 2,498 pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 5

Why I Chose It: Basic, no frills

The Forest River Wolf Den 16EV resembles the Keystone Hideout Sport and Springdale Classic. It’s a little over a foot longer but even more basic, as it boasts electric appliances only – hence the ‘EV’ in the name. This model has no stovetop, and you won’t have a propane furnace for extended-season camping. It does have a sink, a small refrigerator, and a microwave air fryer. The bathroom also doesn’t have a sink but only a shower and toilet.

There are rear corner single over single bunk beds and a queen bed up front. I like how the Wolf Den 16EV is a step up from a tent camper but doesn’t break the bank by offering too many unnecessary amenities. If you like simple camping, this model is ideal. There’s room for a family of three or four to sleep comfortably. The dinette is a bit small, but if you enjoy the outdoors, you’ll likely eat at the picnic table.

The Forest River Wolf Den 16EV is one of the lightest travel trailers on this list, perfect for campers without heavy-duty trucks. You can safely tow this bunkhouse trailer with an SUV, minivan, light-duty truck, and possibly a sedan. It’s a budget-friendly trailer for a family wanting to go outdoors for a weekend camping trip.

  • Length: 31’9”
  • Dry Weight: 5,795 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,930 pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 9

Why I Chose It: Separate bedroom

I love that this Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf has a front bedroom separated from the rest of the unit. This gives parents or grandparents privacy you don’t find in some of the smaller travel trailer bunkhouses. The second entry in the bedroom also allows adults to enjoy an evening outside after the kids have gone to bed without worrying about waking them once they re-enter the trailer.

There are also double over double bunks near the rear corner bathroom. The booth dinette and sofa allow plenty of lounge space for family games or movie nights. The outside kitchen also provides another space for meal prep and an easy way to enjoy the outdoors.

  • Length: 31’8”
  • Dry Weight: 6,116 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,598 pounds

Why I Chose It: Upgrades for more comfort

The Forest River Alpha Wolf 26DBH-L is similar to the Cherokee Grey Wolf. It has double over double bunks, a U-shaped dinette, a sofa, a separate front bedroom, and an outdoor kitchen. What I love most about this unit are the extras that make this bunkhouse travel trailer feel more like a home on wheels.

An electric fireplace underneath the entertainment center provides added warmth on cool fall evenings. A porcelain toilet in the bathroom is more durable than the standard plastic one. Finally, the 20-foot awning offers ample shade to create more exterior living space. Plus, this travel trailer features a fiberglass exterior instead of the corrugated aluminum.

East to West Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Forest River, Inc. owns East to West. It’s one of the newest brands to hit the RV industry. Lisa Liegl Rees founded it in 2017, and the company currently manufactures travel trailers, fifth wheels, and Class C motorhomes. It has a smaller lineup than other brands, with only six travel trailer lines, four fifth wheel lines, and two Class C lines.

  • Length: 33’9”
  • Dry Weight: 6,917 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity:
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 10

Why I Chose It: Double entry, true living room

The Longitude is brand new in 2024. The 285BH features double over double bunks and a full bathroom in the rear. One major reason it makes the list of best bunkhouse travel trailers is the separate entrance to the bathroom. This provides easy access for kids to wash up after playing outside and a place to drop dirty shoes without dragging mud through the trailer.

I also love the layout of this travel trailer’s living room. The sofa and dinette are on opposing sides, with the entertainment center in the middle. This makes the space feel homey, ideal for a family who enjoys watching TV or movies on a Friday night.

This bunkhouse travel trailer also features a front bedroom separate from the rest of the unit, providing privacy for the adults. There’s also an additional wardrobe in the East to West Longitude 285BH that the other models on this list don’t have.

Heartland Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Heartland has been in the RV industry for two decades. They manufacture models ranging from lightweight travel trailers to triple-axle toy haulers across 20 towable lines. The Landmark fifth wheel was its flagship trailer in 2004. You’ll find a wide range of price ranges to suit all types of budgets and various floorplans for all types of RVers.

  • Length: 31’6”
  • Dry Weight: 5,780 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,804 pounds

Why I Chose It: Spacious interior

The Heartland Pioneer BH261 is similar to a few other models on this list. It features the double over double bunks and a bathroom in the rear corner. It also has a second entrance directly into the bathroom, which I love. This Heartland Pioneer trailer also has a separate front bedroom.

The booth dinette and sofa are side by side in a large slide-out, and the kitchen is against the opposing wall. One thing I love about this layout that’s different from the other travel trailers with bunkhouses is that the kitchen isn’t an L-shape. The countertop doesn’t stick out into the living space, creating a very open, spacious area. The kids can play on the floor without hitting their heads on the countertop, and the dogs can roam around with plenty of space.

  • Length: 30’11”
  • Dry Weight: 5,640 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,954 pounds

Why I Chose It: Single entry, fiberglass exterior

This Heartland Mallard travel trailer is similar to the Pioneer bunkhouse. It also has double over double bunks next to the rear corner bathroom, a booth dinette and sofa in a large slide-out across from a full kitchen, and a separate front bedroom.

However, this unit doesn’t have a second entry in the bathroom. Some families will appreciate that because it’s not another door they have to lock and prevent younger children from escaping. The Mallard also features a fiberglass exterior, while the Pioneer is built with corrugated aluminum siding, giving this unit an upgraded feel.

Jayco Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Jayco is one of the most respected and well-known brands in the RV industry. Lloyd Bontrager founded the company in 1968 and debuted his innovative lifter system for pop up campers. Today, with over 55 years of experience and over a million units sold, Jayco is one of the leaders in the industry. The brand produces every class of travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, and motorhomes.

Jayco Jay Flight exterior

  • Length: 29’5”
  • Dry Weight: 4,580 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,420 pounds

Why I Chose It: Ample sleeping capacity

With the capability to sleep up to ten, the Jayco Jay Flight SLX 260BH is a lightweight bunkhouse travel trailer with the space a large family needs to enjoy a weekend camping trip. The double over double bunks measure a  spacious 48” by 76”, and the jackknife sofa provides an additional sleeping area. Plus, the booth dinette also converts if you need another place to sleep.

With no slides, the Jayco Jay Flight SLX 260BH may seem smaller than other units, but I love how Jayco designed this floorplan to create the most space possible. For example, there’s no sink in the bathroom. Instead, the kitchen sink is right outside the bathroom door. The countertop is small, but with the dinette table just across the room, parents can use it for an additional meal prep space if needed. And Jayco still provides a separate front bedroom for the adults.

  • Length: 21’8”
  • Dry Weight: 3,140 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 1,010 pounds

Why I Chose It: Compact, lightweight design

Another Jayco Jay Flight SLX model with bunks is the 174BH. What I love most about this travel trailer is the size. For a camping family who owns an SUV or a smaller vehicle, the Jayco Jay Flight SLX 174BH checks all the boxes. With a dry weight of under 3,200 pounds and a length of under 22 feet, it’s light enough and short enough to be towed by smaller vehicles.

While you won’t have some amenities in other bunkhouse travel trailers, you’ll have everything you need for a comfortable, enjoyable weekend camping trip. The single bunks are 29” by 75” and are directly next to a bathroom with a shower and toilet. The only sink is in the kitchen, which includes an 8-cubic-foot refrigerator, a microwave, and a cooktop.

There’s a booth dinette for mealtime and a queen bed for the adults. The overhead storage throughout the unit also provides ample room for kitchen gadgets, clothes, blankets, flashlights, and other camping gear.

Coleman Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Coleman has been synonymous with camping and the outdoors for decades. Their lightweight bunkhouse travel trailers are some of the most affordable models on the market today, and the Keystone RV company actually manufactures them.

  • Length: 22’10”
  • Dry Weight: 3,587 pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 7

Why I Chose It: Maximum space, no slides

This lightweight, single-axle travel trailer with bunkhouse has two 48” by 72” bunks in the rear corner next to a full bathroom, which features a walk-in shower. This unit also has a bathroom and kitchen sink, even with its smaller length. The booth dinette converts into another sleeping area and sits directly across from the kitchen, ideal for preparing meals.

I love the Murphy bed layout of this bunkhouse travel trailer because it allows for more family space during the day. While the similarly-sized Jayco Jay Flight SLX 174BH has a dinette and a set bedroom, the Coleman Lantern LT 18BH has both a dinette and sofa. You can lounge with the kids on the couch, but when it’s time to go to bed, the space quickly becomes a sleeping area for the adults. This Coleman travel trailer with bunkhouse maximizes the interior space, even without slide-outs.

FAQs About Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Keystone Springdale trailer driving on dirt road

You may have a few more questions to help you find the right bunkhouse travel trailer for your family. Here are the most popular questions about this type of floorplan.

What is a bunkhouse floorplan in a travel trailer?

A travel trailer is a towable RV. Some people call it a “bumper pull” because it attaches to a hitch on the tow vehicle’s bumper. A travel trailer can have many of the same amenities as a fifth wheel or motorhome.

While some RVs have a separate room for the kids to sleep, a bunkhouse doesn’t have to be separated from the rest of the interior space. If bunk beds are in the floorplan, then it’s considered a travel trailer with a bunkhouse, whether those bunks are open to the living area or closed off with a separate door. Check out these additional travel trailer floorplans that offer ample space for a camping family.

What is the most popular travel trailer length?

Generally, a travel trailer with a bunkhouse will be longer than a travel trailer without bunks because it’s necessary to add length to incorporate this additional sleeping space. However, some manufacturers take away a feature to keep the length short. For example, a bunkhouse model may only have a dinette instead of a dinette and a sofa, so there’s room for the bunks in the same interior space.

Travel trailers can range from 12 feet to 40 feet long. They vary significantly in size and weight because there are many different floorplans. The average bunkhouse travel trailers are 20-30 feet long, but floorplans with a separate rear bunkhouse will be longer. It’s also important to know your local regulations regarding RV length so you follow the road restrictions in your home state.

What size is a double bunk in a travel trailer?

I mentioned that some of these best bunkhouse travel trailers feature double over double bunks. Usually, these bunks measure around 48” wide by 76” long. For older kids, these bunks may only sleep one. But for younger children, families can take advantage of these oversized bunks and sleep two per bed. I encourage you to learn more about RV mattresses , their sizes, how they differ from residential mattresses, and the different types we offer at Camping World.

Does Airstream make a bunkhouse?

Airstream is well-known as one of the top brands in the RV industry. The company has been making trailers since the 1930s. However, Airstream only manufactures one floorplan with a bunk bed option: the Flying Cloud 30FB Bunk . This 31-footer sleeps up to eight or nine people, depending on if you have the single over double bunk or the double over double bunk option.

Bunkhouse travel trailers are excellent units for camping families. Whether you’re a grandparent who takes out your grandchildren occasionally, a full-time traveling family who needs personal space for everyone, or a single parent who wants to make memories with your child on weekend getaways, there’s a floorplan to suit your camping style and needs.

This article claims the Springdale Classic has a 7.7 cu refrigerator and a 14 ft awning. In all the searching on Camping World inventory I have yet to find a unit with this. I only see 3.3 frig and 10 ft awning.

' src=

Hi Michael!

My apologies, as I just reached out to Keystone and they confirmed that 3.3-cubic feet is the standard fridge size for the 2024 model year, down from the 7.7 cubic foot standard in the 2023 model year. They also confirmed that the 10-foot awning is now standard on new models. Thanks for bringing this to our attention so we could update these specs in the article!

The position of the bunks creates a separate area for kids and makes the beds more accessible. In the front of the RV is a large, private bedroom with a king bed. The bathroom sits between the living area and the bedroom.

The main living area includes an L-shaped dinette, a tri-fold sofa and a fireplace. The kitchen has a full range, a microwave, a double sink, a 12 volt fridge and plenty of counterspace. Arched rafters create a spacious interior with 7 foot ceilings.

Heartland Trail Runner 31DB

The second Heartland RV on our list of the best bunkhouse travel trailers is the Trail Runner 31DB. This big rig has much more space and many more exciting features than the tiny Pioneer.

The rear of the RV houses an entire kids’ suite. Inside the suite is a private bedroom with a single over double bunk bed, a shirt closet and a half bathroom. In the front of the trailer is a main bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom.

In the main living area, there is a dinette booth and a large sofa. The corner kitchen features bright, white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Perhaps the most unique feature of this RV is the huge pantry, located behind the TV next to the entry door.

Venture SportTrek ST333VIK

Length: 37 feet, 8 inches

Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailers: Venture SportTrek ST333VIK

Another amazing (and enormous) rear bunkhouse travel trailer is the Venture SportTrek ST333VIK. The bunkroom includes a normal height single bed, and a raised top bunk which sits over a storage cabinet.

The lower bed is perfect both for smaller children who are at risk of falling from higher bunks and teenagers who need more headroom. The huge bunkroom is also great for teenagers because it also has a sofa (with another flip-up bunk above it), a table and a flip-up desk.

Outside the bunkroom is a full (second) bathroom. The other bathroom is located in the front of the trailer next to the main bedroom with a queen bed.

While the bunkroom is the star of this RV, the main living area does not disappoint either. With the optional king dinette, the combination sofa/dining area can comfortably seat 5 to 6 people. The large kitchen has an island and a hutch that makes a perfect coffee station.

Keystone Hideout 38FKTS

Length: 39 feet, 11 inches

Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailers: Hideout 38FKTS

Mid-bunk floorplans are super common in fifth wheel RVs, but rare in travel trailers. The Hideout 28FKTS is the best mid-bunk travel trailer available.

The bunkroom includes a upper bunk with a cube bunk below. The cubes can be moved around and used as chairs during the day. A wardrobe, which doubles as a desk completes the room.

The main bedroom has a queen bed and is located in the rear of the trailer. The full bath sits between the two bedrooms. In the main living area, there is a dinette booth, a recliner and a trifold sofa. The front kitchen has white cabinets and tons of storage space.

The 6 small bunkhouse travel trailer under 5000 lbs in 2021

8 Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailers under 5000 lbs: Top RVs in 2024

Choosing the best bunkhouse travel trailers for your family’s adventures can feel overwhelming with so many options available.

I understand the importance of finding a travel trailer that not only fits your travel needs but also provides comfort and functionality for the whole family.

Having personally tested over 21 models from leading brands like Jayco, Keystone, and Coachmen, I’ve gained valuable insights into what makes a bunkhouse stand out.

Among these, the Jayco Jay Feather Micro 171BH emerged as the best overall for its exceptional balance of weight, space, and amenities.

This model is ideal for those seeking a light and versatile travel trailer without sacrificing quality or comfort.

Whether you’re planning to explore national parks or simply enjoy a weekend away, finding the right bunkhouse travel trailer can significantly enhance your RV experience.

Based on my experience, the top bunkhouse travel trailers are:

  • Jayco Jay Feather Micro 171BH: Best overall for its lightweight design under 5000 lbs and feature-rich small bunkhouse.
  • Lance TT 2185: Great for larger families with its spacious interior and comfort features.
  • Palomino PaloMini 189BHS: Excellent choice for easy towing, thanks to its lightest bunkhouse travel trailer classification.
  • K-Z Escape E191BHK: Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts with its exterior kitchen feature and smart storage solutions.
  • Keystone Hideout 176BH: Perfect for first-time RVers looking for an easy-to-manage and well-equipped small bunkhouse.
  • Coachmen Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BHS: A top pick for those seeking a balance of comfort and mobility in a lightweight design.

The Difference Between Dry Weight, GVWR & Towing Capacity

It helps to know a few important terms before we dive deep into the review process. Especially when it comes to the difference between Dry Weight, GVWR, and your tow vehicle’s maximum towing capacity.

This is the weight of the unladen trailer when it is completely empty and devoid of camping gear.

Stands for Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, and this is the maximum weight that the travel trailer can be, based on the frame, suspension, axle, and other structural considerations.

Payload Capacity

This is the weight or “Cargo” camping equipment and personal items that the manufacturer estimates can be safely loaded into the trailer. When you add dry weight and maximum payload capacity together you get the maximum GVWR for the travel trailer.

Taken in this light it is possible for a travel trailer with a dry weight of less than 5,000-pounds can be overloaded with cargo to the point where it has a real-world gross weight of over 5,000-pounds.

Maximum Towing Capacity

This is the maximum amount that the tow vehicle’s manufacturer estimates that the vehicle can tow. It is calculated based on the frame & chassis tolerances, as well as the strength of the suspension system, the power of the engine, and the gearing of the transmission.

When it comes to determining if your intended tow vehicle can safely pull your preferred travel trailer, you need to compare the rated maximum towing capacity for your make, model, and trim level to the real-world gross weight of the travel trailer.

This is the dry weight plus the weight of the camping gear and equipment you load into it.

Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailers Under 5,000 Pounds

6 Great Bunkhouse Travel Trailers Under 5,000 Pounds You Need to See in 2024

While reviewing the best bunkhouse travel trailers under 5,000 pounds, we made sure to keep build quality and long-term value as top priorities.

We also tried to factor in models to meet different family sizes and travel styles, all while keeping niche interests on our radar.

1. Jayco Jay Feather Micro 171BH

Jayco - Jay Feather Micro 171BH

  • Length of 20.25 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 3,930 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 1,065 lbs.
  • GVWR of 4,995 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 425 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 55.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 30.5 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 30.5 gallons
  • Sleeps up to 6 people

The Jay Feather is one of Jayco’s most popular travel trailer platforms. Though most of its traditional floorplans still weigh 5,000 pounds or more.

So, they went back to the drawing board to create the Jayco – Jay Feather Micro 171BH, which has a dry weight of just 3,930 pounds, which is well within the towing capacity of most midsize SUVs like the popular Ford Explorer.

Though there is still a potential weight problem with the Jayco – Jay Feather Micro 171BH in that it has a payload capacity of up to 1,065 pounds.

This means if you absolutely stuff this travel trailer to the gills it can carry a gross weight of up to 4,995-pounds, which pushes the limits of what a vehicle with a 5,000-pound towing capacity can safely pull.

Though in the real world, unless you have an obsessive hoarding problem, I think you would be challenged to come up with over a thousand pounds worth of “Essential” camping gear.

Assuming you can keep your packing within reason and you are willing to travel most of the journey to your campground with dry water storage tanks, you will be treated to a bunkhouse travel trailer for a family that wants to travel light.

It has a queen bed in the front, a pair of bunk beds in the back, and a midship kitchen with everything you need to cook a family meal. There is even a complete bathroom in the back with a shower basin that is deep enough to bathe a small child.

2. Lance TT 2185

Lance – TT 2185

  • Length of 26.67 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 4,565 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 2,435 lbs.
  • GVWR of 7,000 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 755 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 45.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 45 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 45 gallons

Here again, the Lance – TT 2185 is another bunkhouse travel trailer that pushes the limits of what it means to tow a 5,000-pound RV. It has a dry weight of 4,565-pounds, which is still in the range of most robust midsize SUVs.

Though the staggeringly high 2,435 pounds of payload capacity invite an almost abusive amount of cargo, that can push the real-world gross weight way over 5,000 pounds.

Ultimately, it means that if you need to stay under 5,000-pounds of gross weight to meet the safe towing capacity of your intended tow vehicle, then you need to load the Lance – TT 2185 sparingly.

Then make it a point to travel with the fresh and wastewaters storage tanks empty.

Assuming you can keep the Lance – TT 2185 within a reasonable towing range, you will be treated to a premium bunkhouse travel trailer. The interior decor feels more like what you would expect to see in a destination travel trailer of a large motorhome.

There’s a master bed in the front and bunk beds in the back. Each sleeping area has its own wardrobe closet space to keep everyone’s things separates, which is a big deal when you are traveling with the whole family.

One of the things that drives up the dry weight of the Lance – TT 2185 is the mechanical components of the power slide-out section. Though it houses a U-shaped dinette with enough room to let two parents and two children all eat together at the same time.

3. Palomino PaloMini 189BHS

Palomino – PaloMini 189BHS

  • Length of 22.92 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 3,830 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 1,096 lbs.
  • GVWR of 4,945 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 545 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 44.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 30 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 38 gallons

If the Palomino – PaloMini 189BHS is another one of the models we reviewed with a gross vehicle weight rating that pushes right up to the 5,000-pound mark without going over it. This is even taking into account the relatively large capacity water storage tanks and the bodacious 1,096-pound cargo capacity.

This means that with some reasonable packing, and traveling with the fresh and wastewater storage tanks empty, you could easily tow this with a lot of midsize SUVs. A case in point is the popular Ford Explorer, which has a 5,000-pound towing capacity with the manufacturer’s tow package equipped.

The interior of the Palomino – PaloMini 189BHS does a great job of maximizing the available living space in a bunkhouse travel trailer under 5,000 pounds.

This starts with a murphy bed in the front that is a comfortable couch by day and a queen size bed at night.

The single power slide-out section houses a large dinette that is big enough to let the whole family dine together. The rear of the travel trailer pairs two bunk beds with a complete dry bath.

4. K-Z Escape E191BHK

K-Z – Escape E191BHK

  • Length of 22 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 3,350 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 895 lbs.
  • GVWR of 4,245 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 430 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 20.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 32 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 32 gallons

If you are looking for lightweight towing statistics and the kind of conveniences you expect in a large travel trailer, all in one compact package, then you are going to love the K-Z – Escape E191BHK.

For starters, you get a 22 foot-long bunkhouse travel trailer that has an impressively light dry weight of just 3,350 pounds. Yet is still has a maximum payload capacity of nearly 900 pounds.

This means you can bring tons of camping gear and personal items for the whole family, yet still end up with a gross vehicle weight rating of just 4,245-pounds.

This is comfortably within the range of a lot of popular midsize SUVs and most full-size SUVs. What you are treated to is a bunkhouse travel trailer under 5,000 pounds with a lot of the creature comforts of home.

The queen-size bed, power slide-out dinette that converts into a bed, and the bunk beds in the rear mean you can comfortably sleep 5 to 6 people.

All while still being able to enjoy a complete kitchen with a microwave and a fully functional dry bath. You’ll also find a lot to love about the exterior of the K-Z – Escape E191BHK.

The front pass-thru storage compartment lets you keep a lot of gear and helps keep the weight of the bunkhouse travel trailer biased toward the tongue, which is where you want it when towing at highway speeds or reversing into a tight camping spot. There’s also a 10-foot awning to give the family a place to sit in the shade.

Though the “Grill Master” in your family is sure to love the exterior kitchen with a refrigerator and a pullout gas griddle in the rear hatch compartment.

All this in a bunkhouse travel trailer under 5,000 pounds and an MSRP of less than $30,000.

5. Keystone Hideout 176BH

Keystone – Hideout 176BH

  • Length of 21.42 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 3,706 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 794 lbs.
  • GVWR of 4,500 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 520 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 27 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 30 gallons

The Keystone – Hideout 176BH is one of the more popular bunkhouse travel trailers on the road today.

It has everything a family needs to travel comfortably, while still only tipping the scales with a dry weight of 3,706 pounds, and modest water storage tanks.

When you add the 3,706-pound dry weight of the Keystone – Hideout 176BH and the 794-pound payload capacity together, you end up with a comfortable GVWR of just 4,500-pounds.

It also has a hitch weight of up to 520-pounds. These numbers push on the maximum towing capacity of some popular midsize SUVs like the Ford Explorer but are still in the range of more robust midsize SUVs like the Dodge Durango. One could complain that the Keystone – Hideout 176BH doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles.

It has the front pass-thru storage compartment, front queen bed, and the bunk beds that you find with a lot of competitor models, and not a lot of other fancy features.

Though, you also see that reflected in the incredibly friendly MSRP of just $20,000, which makes it one of the best budget bunkhouse travel trailers under 5,000 pounds.

6. Coachmen Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BHS

Coachmen - Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BHS

  • Length of 20.42 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 3,437 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 988 lbs.
  • GVWR of 4,425 lbs.
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 25 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 25 gallons

The Coachmen – Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BHS is a lightweight bunkhouse travel trailer that is geared to let families travel in comfort. The 3,437-pound dry weight is comfortably within the range of what most midsize SUVs with a towing package can pull at highway speeds.

Yet even when you load the 988 -pound payload capacity to the max, it still only tips the scales at 4,425 pounds. The high payload capacity of this bunkhouse travel trailer is thanks in part to a large cargo storage bay in the front.

When you are about to hit the road, you can load it up with your essential camping gear, which will help keep the weight biased toward the front, which is what you want for a nimble, secure relationship between the travel trailers tongue and the tow vehicle’s hitch.

When you get to camp, you can set up and then use the exterior cargo hatch to keep shoes and other dirty outdoor items, which helps keep the interior of your camper clean.

There is a minor tradeoff to the lightweight characteristics of the Coachmen – Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BHS, in that the fresh and wastewater storage tanks are a little on the small side.

If you are camping off the grid with your family, they won’t be able to support you for more than perhaps a day or two. Though if you are the type of family that prefers to stay connected to an RV park’s resources, this is a non-factor.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can i safely tow.

The prevailing wisdom is that you should not tow more than 80% of your vehicle’s rated maximum towing capacity.

Let’s say that you have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD which has a maximum towing capacity of 6,800 pounds. 80% of this is 5,440-pounds.

Keeping the real-world gross weight of your bunkhouse travel trailer under 5,000 pounds will give you plenty of power in reserve for doing things like accelerating up to highway speed, towing the travel trailer over loose surfaces, or pulling it up a steep incline.

How Much Weight Does A Slide-Out Section Add To A Travel Trailer?

A power slide-out section can add 300 to 600-pounds to an RV under 25-feet long. Though they are a great way to add the kind of interior living space that a lot of families prioritize.

A lot of RV manufacturers offer their popular models with nearly identical floorplans. Except one floor plan will have a slide-out section and another won’t, just to save some weight.

If you are concerned about the gross weight then, you might want to look for a bunkhouse travel trailer that weighs under 5,000 pounds without a slide-out.

There are a lot of great bunkhouse travel trailers under 5,000-pounds. Ultimately, the one that is best for your family will come down to your travel style.

It can also be influenced by the maximum towing capacity of your vehicle, as well as how heavily you want to pack it with camping gear.

If you are looking for a truly lightweight model that is impossible to overpack, then the K-Z – Escape E191BHK might be the best bunkhouse travel trailer under 5,000-pounds. Not only does it have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,245 when fully loaded, but it even comes with an exterior kitchen and grill station!

If you are looking for the best budget bunkhouse travel trailer under 5,000-pounds, then you might want to move the Keystone – Hideout 176BH up your list. It has the bunks you want to sleep the whole family and a tidy real-world gross weight at an MSRP that will be easy on your budget.

Top 13 Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Hey! This site is reader-supported and we earn commissions if you purchase products from retailers after clicking on a link from our site.

If you’re looking for an RV with room for the entire family, campers with bunk rooms are worth a look. The best bunkhouse travel trailers are space for four or six people to live full time while adventuring on the road. This generally means saying no to the pull-out sofa or the convertible dinette; these trailers have dedicated space for the kids to sleep and enough room that everyone has a little slice of privacy.

Simply put, a bunkhouse travel trailer has extra bunks. It’s an important distinction, especially when looking at smaller, lightweight trailers. Many of these smaller towable RV models are made to be comfortable for a couple but not so much for large families. A bunkhouse travel trailer fixes this by adding a separate space with dedicated beds for the little ones.

Finding the best bunk room travel trailer for your family starts with striking a balance between the overall size of the trailer you can deal with and the amenities you need. Many of us would like to tow a fifth-wheel trailer or get a Class A, but it’s not feasible a lot of the time. A bunkhouse travel trailer layout is a good place to start since it maximizes floor space and provides a little more privacy.

Smaller, Lighter, Cheaper than Other Options

First off, most bunkhouse travel trailer layouts tend to be travel trailers. By adding more bunks and more rooms, a travel trailer can fit the bill for some campers. They provide enough amenities to keep a family of four (or maybe six) comfortable on long trips. But at the same time, they’re easier to tow, small, and more affordable than a comparable fifth wheel or Class A coach.

Affordability gets better and better the smaller the trailer. If you can tow your travel trailer with the full-size SUV that you already own, you’ll save money in the long run. Remember, you must tow fifth wheels with customized pickups, and Class A’s are much more expensive altogether. So a bunkhouse travel trailer might allow you to skip all of these extra costs if you can tow it with the vehicle you already own.

Many trailer makers squeeze in an impressive number of bunks, but they have often shared surfaces. So, for example, a dinette might convert into a double, or a jack-knife sofa might pull out and make a large bunk.

In any case, all of these solutions are a pain. It means you’ve got to give up your sitting and dining area to get ready for bed. Furthermore, a daily set-up and break-down phase will become a time-consuming chore. These shared-use spaces are great solutions if you have occasional overnight guests, like an annual trip with the grandkids. But if you are looking for a daily solution, everyone getting their own bed is the key to family happiness.

More Privacy

Mid and larger-sized bunkhouse travel trailers will have the ability to close a door and shut off the bunkhouse travel trailer from the rest of the camper. For parents with small children, this gives the kids their own quiet space to rest, all while freeing up the rest of the camper and leaving the dinette and kitchen intact.

So how does it work in your family? Do the kids go to bed early, or do you rise and shine with the sun while the kids sleep in? These things are much easier if you’ve got a little more privacy.

In smaller RVs, bunks might not have their own doors or be in enclosed rooms. But just having a dedicated place where you can put your stuff makes a world of difference in terms of organization and planning.

Flexibility

Finally, the bunkhouse travel trailer layout provides many options for even those who aren’t traveling with families. It might be handy if you travel with friends or guests one day. For day-to-day living, the bunk space is a welcome addition for storage. It’s invaluable to have the option to put random stuff in a place that is out of the way and not taking up other living spaces.

Travel Trailer and Towing Woes

If you’re comparing a towable to a Class A coach or even to a larger fifth wheel, keep in mind that towing a large travel trailer is still no trivial task. While these trailers are lighter and can be towed by some SUVs, they are by no means ultralights. If your vehicle’s towing capacity isn’t at least 5,000 pounds, you’re probably out of luck unless you’re looking for the smallest bunkhouse travel trailer out there.

And even though they can be pretty luxurious, you won’t find as many amenities in these campers as you would in fifth wheels or coaches. These are budget-conscious starter RVs, and you aren’t likely to find them decked out with washers and dryers, fireplaces, or even very large tanks.

Extra Size, Complexity, and Gross Vehicle Weight Rating

On the flip side, these trailers aren’t small and simple, either. While some bunkhouse travel trailers are pretty small and light, there is no getting around the fact that it is an upgrade from the basic camper design.

If your second and third bunks are shared spaces, like sofas or dinettes, the total camper length can be much smaller. Unfortunately, you won’t find bunkhouse travel trailer layouts available in the smallest travel trailers, and when you do find one, it comes at the cost of removing something else entirely.

True Overall Capacity

The next problem with these designs is that they can squeeze many people into a very small camper. The more people you carry, the more space you need for tankage, groceries, clothing, and supplies. So while you might be able to find campers that measure less than 20 feet with multiple bunks, will they provide enough space for everyone to camp comfortably?

It’s much easier for families with small kids to use ultralight bunkhouse travel trailers. Older kids and teens are more likely to want their own space and greater privacy, requiring more space.

Another factor that makes a big difference is the lengths of trips involved. For example, does your group head out for a single overnight? Or are you hoping to spend weeks at a time on the road?

None of these things is a disadvantage, per se. But they do require looking at the camper as a whole package and objectively thinking about how it will suit your mission.

What Is the Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailer?

The good news is that quite a few manufacturers are offering a bunkhouse travel trailer model. These floorplans are popular–they are an inexpensive way to get the whole family on board. That makes them perfect starters and entry-level RVs.

It’s difficult to say which is the best because every camper’s needs are slightly different. Some are looking for an ultralight and minimalist camping experience. Others might be looking for some luxuries and a bigger rig.

Once you know what a bunkhouse travel trailer is, you’ll probably pin down exactly why you do or don’t want one quickly. And in doing that, you’ll likely know exactly what you need. How many bunks, what sort of space, and what does your budget look like for cost and overall size? Layouts vary considerably between model lines, even from the same RV manufacturer. The only way to find one that suits you is to go out and walk through some in the real world!

Number of Beds

Probably the first criterion will be figuring out exactly how many bunks you need. The fewer bunks you can get away with, the more spacious the camper will feel. After that, just make sure all of your family members, or whoever is traveling with you regularly, have their own private space.

Of course, not all bunks are created equally. Many campers have smaller single bunks that are built for kids. Older children and teens might feel quite cramped and uncomfortable, so you’ll want to be sure to spend some time in each layout and see how your family fits, literally!

Most trailers have just one bathroom to optimize space. Some models have stand-up showers only, but some have tub/shower combinations. If you are traveling with younger kids, you might prefer a bathroom with a tub for easy bathtime.

Bathroom location can be important to families. Some models have a bathroom close to the master suite, which is great for the parents but might be inconvenient for the kids. Others place the bathroom next to the bunk room, which is easier for the kids but might be harder for the parents. A centralized bathroom works well for all.

Most bunkhouse travel trailer kitchens feature a fridge, microwave, storage, prep space, and sink. However, you might prefer a kitchen with additional prep space and a large pantry if you are traveling long-term. In addition, some larger rigs have a kitchen island which gives more counter space.

  • Outdoor Kitchen

Most modern models feature outdoor kitchens. This is a great way to enjoy outdoor time as a family and keep the heat and mess of meal prep outside the RV. In addition, outdoor kitchens usually have an extra fridge, which is great for extending the time between grocery runs. Outdoor kitchens also have a sink and griddle or stovetop.

Dinette Seating

Small trailers usually have small dinettes, and this is one of the easiest ways you can gauge just how comfortable your family will be. Is there enough room for the family to eat around the table comfortably? While at the table, can the chef get to and from the kitchen easily?

These might sound like minor things, but you have to remember that it’s easy for RV makers to add more bunks. It’s much harder for them to create layouts that work for that many people. Can you realistically use the layout and be comfortable? That’s the question you need to continually ask yourself as you compare layouts.

Dinette seating usually converts into extra own sleeping space, adding to the number of guests you can host.

Number of Slide-Outs

Slide-outs are an easy way to get more real estate inside the RV. It’s especially useful with a dinette, but it’s also handy in some bunkhouse travel trailer layouts where the bunkroom slides out for more floor space.

Slides add cost and complexity to a rig, however. As with all decisions when planning such a big purchase, you’ll have to find the right balance. Make sure the expense of a slide-out is gaining you something. It should make a useable space that makes the camper feel more comfortable.

Bunkhouse Length

Most bunkhouse travel trailers are less than 40 feet long. The smaller and lighter the RV, the easier it is to tow. Shorter trailers are easier to store and find campground spaces for. Bunkhouse travel trailers on our list range from a tiny 13-foot trailers to a 39-foot trailers. The best shopping technique is to buy the smallest bunkhouse travel trailer that will meet your needs for the kind of traveling you enjoy.

National parks can easily accommodate RVs under 25 feet. An RV under 37 feet can access about 60% of parks, while only a small percentage of National Parks can accommodate trailers over 40 feet. If traveling to National Parks is on your bucket list, aim for a smaller rig.

Weight and Tow Capacity

If you already have a tow vehicle and don’t want to trade up, pick an RV that matches your current vehicle. Most RVs advertise their empty weight. This weight doesn’t include water or fuel in the tanks and personal gear. After you’ve loaded up the trailer, it will weigh more. Make sure you know how much weight your SUV can tow and calculate the actual weight of the trailer plus any liquids, RV accessories , and gear.

RVs come with several tanks. You’ll have fresh water tanks, propane tanks, grey water tanks, and black water tanks. The bigger your tanks, the longer you can go without topping off and dumping out. However, bigger tanks also take up more storage space and add to your total towing weight.

If you plan on boondocking for weeks, look for a trailer with large tanks. On the other hand, if you plan on simple weekends at an RV park, you can get away with smaller tanks.

Separate Bunk Rooms

The bigger the trailer, the more space, and privacy bunk rooms will have. While you can find some very small campers that squeeze many bunks into short tow packages, the amenities are generally limited.

15 Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Photo of author

Sharing time with the family is the best, and there is no need to have a huge RV. A small bunkhouse travel trailer is always an excellent choice for traveling with a family without dealing with the vehicle’s towing capacity or maneuvering long trailers. The smallest bunkhouses and bunkroom travel trailers on the market help families with individualized sleeping space, giving privacy to the parents. At the same time, kids stay up and play around, providing a comfortable layout when folding down sofas is unnecessary because you choose a bunkhouse with a good sleeping capacity. In this post, you will find a review of 15 Perfect Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers, Including Bunk Rooms, private master bedrooms, bunkhouses under 20 and 26 feet long, and lightest under 3000, 4000, and 5000 pounds on the current market. This video below is just a sneak peek of some top picks featured in this buyer’s review.

I encourage you to read each section of this post carefully, as we have specially categorized these floor plans. I am sure you will find at least one bunkhouse travel trailer that fits just what you are looking for and could be your next purchase. Let’s move on!

How small should a small bunkhouse travel trailer be considered SMALL? In general, we refer to small campers when we are talking about travel trailers under 20 feet long (even under 26 feet long still is considered small enough), and this shortness is also often combined with the lightest features keeping the bunkhouse travel trailer small and between 2500 and 5000 pounds (very lightweight).

Why Choose a Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailer?

Small bunkhouse travel trailers have advantages over huge RVs. First, they are easy to tow and park, which is a benefit, especially for inexperienced drivers.

Also, small travel trailers with bunkhouses are usually more affordable than large trailers or fifth wheel and will easily keep you on the budget. However, there are many expensive options if you are considering purchasing a luxury bunkhouse travel trailer but lightweight and with a great layout in a small floor plan. However, all that comfort, room, and convenience typically comes at a cost.

Every year more RV manufacturers make new bunkhouse travel trailers in the smallest campers. Some even design private bunkhouses (bunk rooms) in these small travel trailers, which is very beneficial when kids grow up.

The 15 Perfect Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers with bathrooms on the current market are listed below to ensure the entire family can enjoy a road trip.

We separate these fantastic small bunkhouse travel trailers into four categories , so you can easily find what you are looking for or go through all these remarkable floor plans. All the floor plans listed have a bunkhouse and a bathroom.

Clipper Ultra-lite 15CBH: Small Bunkhouse Trailer with Bathroom Under 2500 Pounds

Coachmen RV’s Clipper line has always been synonymous with being one of the best small bunkhouse travel trailers under 20 feet , plus the ability for RVers to have a lightweight trailer with a bathroom .

This time, the 2023 Clipper Ultra-lite 15CBH is a prime example of a lightweight, small bunkhouse travel trailer with a bathroom for a family of 4.

Almost any car and SUV can tow the 15CBH bunkhouse travel trailer. At only 2540 pounds, in addition to being a lightweight bunkhouse trailer , it is one of the smallest 4-person travel trailers with bathrooms on the market. Starting price at $ 16,000.

This floor plan offers features not usually found in small bunkhouse campers . On the outside, you will find a large pass-through exterior compartment allowing this small trailer’s interior to be more uncluttered, and a 10-foot-long powered awning with LED light on the edge.

To the right of the entry door, you will find a spacious booth dinette sized to 4 people (according to the sleeping capacity of this small bunkhouse), which can easily be converted into a queen-size bed. The dinette is also well placed to enjoy the entertainment center prepared with a cable TV hook-up and the optional fireplace offered by the Clipper 15CBH.

With no slides out, this camper has a versatile kitchen to prepare your meals without hassle and is suitable for the four people this small bunkhouse travel trailer can accommodate. The kitchen has a 2-burner stove, a microwave oven (optional), and a 3.0 cu. Ft. electric refrigerator is the standard option which can be upgraded by opting for the 3.3 CU. FT. 2-way refrigerator (gas/electric), a pantry, and a kitchen sink with sink cover that is useful for preparing meals.

Also, large overhead shelves and cabinets are distributed along the Clipper Ultra-lite 15CBH.

smallest bunkhouse travel trailers with bathroom under 20 feet clipper

At the rear of this small bunkhouse camper under 20 feet are the bathroom and the bunkhouse. One of the most spectacular things about this floor plan is that it is a lightweight small bunkhouse travel trailer with a bathroom , where it is also a dry bathroom, with a separate foot-flushable toilet and oversized shower (24″x36″), and all in only about 17 feet long .

The two 28″x72″ bunk beds have window curtains and USB charging ports for each. The bunkhouse is adjacent to the bathroom.

The standard floor plan of the Clipper Ultra-lite 15CBH includes a 20K BTU Suburban furnace, a 13.5K BTU roof-mounted air conditioner, and a 6-gallon gas/electric DSI water heater, making this camper one of the perfect small bunkhouse travel trailers with bathroom on the current market.

Jay Flight SLX 154BH: Small Bunkhouse Under 3000 Pounds

Jay Flight SLX 154BH is one of the finest small bunkhouse travel trailers under 20 feet that any Jayco camper owner would recommend .

Suppose you are looking to leap from sleeping in a tent or your family is growing. In that case, the Jay Flight SLX 154BH is one of those affordable and small lightweight bunkhouse travel trailers worth considering for the excellent quality of Jayco RVs and their customer service.

Comparing the Jay Flight SLX 154BH with the Clipper Ultra-lite 15CBH we are in the presence of two floorplans of small bunkhouse travel trailers with bathrooms which are very similar layouts, different interior color finishes, and different optional upgrades of both campers.

Some of the advantages to highlight in this Jay Flight SLX 154BH are the size of the 29″x75″ bunk beds, bigger than small bunkhouses, and the mirror in the bathroom, which I believe gives us the perspective of constantly improving Jayco. Starting price at $24,309.

Rockwood Geo Pro G16BH Bunkhouse Travel Trailer Under 3500 Pounds

Rockwood Geo Pro G16BH is one of the recommended small bunkhouse travel trailers , quite short, considering it is only 18 feet long . With almost the same length, under 20 feet, as the previous two bunkhouse travel trailers reviewed, but offers a slide-out kitchen and an outdoor grill making the Rockwood Geo Pro G16BH a more comfortable bunkhouse although with a little more weight, although light at under 3500 pounds .

As the floor plan below shows, five external compartments provide plenty of room for this well-prepared 4-person camper.

rockwood geo pro g16bh review

A bunkhouse and a king bed in a small, lightweight travel trailer are rare. However, the Outback Ultra-Lite 210URS travel trailer offers even more.

This trailer from our list of 15 campers is a 23-foot luxury small travel trailer with a rear bunkhouse with two 34″x74″ flip-down bunk beds. Opposite the bunkhouse is a slide-out that accommodates the 72″x75″ king-size bed.

The central portion of this trailer contains a fully equipped kitchen, a booth dinette, a sofa sleeper, and a TV mounted on the RV wall.

The bathroom is spacious and located next to the front bunkhouse. Although this is a small travel trailer, it can accommodate up to 7 people.

While many features and finishes are luxurious, this floor plan does not have an outdoor kitchen or a private bedroom. Starting price at $49,201.

bunkhouse travel trailer with king bed

In this review of the 15 Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers with bathrooms on the current market, the next floor plan is manufactured by KZ RV and is the Escape 231BH, a bunkhouse travel trailer under 5000 pounds that can accommodate up to 5 people.

If you look at the size of the bunk beds throughout this review, from the 3 best small bunkhouse travel trailers under 20 feet we mentioned at the beginning of this post to the ones we have here, you will see that some options feature larger bunk beds. The size of the bunk beds is something to note about the Escape 231BH. They have the most oversized bunks of this post, 48″x72″ double-sized double bunk beds.

It is not uncommon to find double-sized bunk beds, but it is essential to know how comfortable it will be for the occupants of the bunks. Children grow up, and you may be looking for floor plans that will last for many years without the need to reinvest in a new trailer to adapt it to the size of teenagers.

2 Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers with Private Master Bedrooms

In this section, let’s review two amazing floor plans. Mallard M251BH by Heartland and Transcend Xplor 261BH by Grand Design . Both travel trailers have a private front primary bedroom and a fabulous layout different from each other and short enough, around 30 feet, to be on our list of the 15 Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers on the Current Market.

One of the main differences we review between these 2-floor plans is in the private main bedroom at the front of both bunkhouse travel trailers. The Mallard M251BH features a King master bedroom, while the Transcend Xplor 261BH features a Queen master bedroom.

Let’s check out these two amazing small bunkhouse travel trailers.

Mallard M251BH: Small Travel Trailer with Bunkhouse and King Bedroom

Mallard M251BH is a Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailer with a private primary bedroom and a King-size bed. With only 29 feet 8 inches long and about 6000 pounds of dry weight, this bunkhouse can accommodate up to 5 or 6 people .

On the exterior of this camper, you will find a kitchen, an 18-ft powered awning with LED lighting, and a colossal pass-thru storage (up to 67.5 cu. ft. of storage space).

You will find the bunkhouse at the left of the entry door with two comfortable bunk beds and a bathroom.

The dry bathroom has a foot-flushable toilet, a handwash basin with vanity which offers extra storage space, a medicine cabinet with mirror, a shower with a tub, a shower sliding door, a skylight in the shower, a large linen closet, and power vents. The space dedicated to this bathroom is fabulous; it feels very comfortable and has plenty of space to store things and keep them tidy despite being a small travel trailer.

At the right of the entry door, you will find a walk-in-pantry . That is another atypical feature found in small bunkhouse travel trailers.

Across from there, you will find the kitchen area and entertainment center opposite the slide-out booth dinette.

This center part of the Mallard M251BH has a very different layout than the Transcend Xplor 261BH, and our readers may find it interesting to compare these small bunkhouse travel trailers’ floorplans as the weight and length specifications of both are very similar but significantly different in the layout of the galley and living room.

small bunkhouses with king bedroom

The kitchen has a 3-burner cooktop, a traditional oven, a comfortable deep bowl kitchen sink with a high-rise kitchen faucet, and a 6-cu. Ft. sizeable double-door refrigerator (gas/electric).

At the front of this camper is the main bedroom with a king-size bed, an under-bed storage area, nightstands, and room to move around the bed. The bedroom is separated from the rest of the trailer by solid sliding doors that give it complete privacy.

More standard features worth to mentioned are a gas/electric 6-gallon water heater, a forced air heated and enclosed underbelly, a 13,500 BTU air conditioner, and a 30,000 BTU furnace.

Let’s move to the next option. In the following paragraphs, find out which small bunkhouse travel trailers are your favorite.

Transcend Xplor 261BH: Small Travel Trailer with Bunkhouse and Queen Bedroom

Depending on the specific options you choose on the floorplan, this travel trailer can accommodate up to 8 people and has a private primary bedroom, bunk beds, luxury features, etc. The most remarkable of all is that it is only 30 feet long . For all this and the quality that its name is synonymous with, Transcend Xplor 261BH by Grand Design RV is one of the Recommended 15 Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers for 2023 we review in this article. Starting price at $38,082.

As can be seen in the floor plan below, the exterior of this bunkhouse travel trailer features an outdoor kitchen, a 17-foot electrical awning, and ample storage compartments.

At the right of the entry door, you will find the private master queen bedroom. Solid sliding doors separate this bedroom from the rest of the travel trailer. The bedroom has nightstands and storage space under the bed and is prepared to mount a TV.

small travel trailers with bunkhouses 2023

In the center of this camper, you will find a long slide-out with a tri-fold sofa which can optionally be changed to theater seating. The kitchen appliances are located on the slide-out, giving the kitchen the entire corner area with a large surface area to move around and prepare gourmet meals.

Across from there is a booth dinette suitable for 4 people and a 32″ LED TV.

At the rear of this travel trailer is a bunkhouse with two large bunks and a full dry bathroom fully equipped.

While you walk through it, at no time does it give the impression that it is a short, small bunkhouse travel trailer of 30 feet. On the contrary, the bathroom is incredibly spacious, and the master bedroom is very comfortable. See it for yourself in the 360-tour below.

Bunk Rooms in Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers

Bunkhouse travel trailers are a great way to share memorable moments with our friends and family. However, when kids are growing as parents, sometimes, we prefer to start to separate spaces in the camper.

Therefore, giving the children privacy (and at the same time giving ourselves privacy) can make living together more satisfying. For example, if the children have their own private room, they can stay up late playing and talking when the parents are already resting in the master bedroom.

This way, the travel trailer with a bunkhouse room will be separated into at least two bedrooms and the living room, which may or may not be integrated with the dinette and kitchen, depending on the floor plan and the length of the camper.

When we review floor plans of travel trailers with a bunkhouse room , they generally tend to be long and often heavy. Nevertheless, some Private Bunk Rooms in Small Bunkhouse Travel Trailers are worth mentioning because they are only 30 to less than 34 feet long and are pretty short for a private bunkhouse floor plan.

2-Bedrooms Bunkhouse Travel Trailers Under 34 Feet

Let’s see these 2-bedrooms small bunkhouse travel trailers under 34 feet.

  • Sundance Ultra-Lite 291QB
  • Cruise Lite 273QBXL

What do These 2-Bedrooms Bunkhouse Travel Trailers Have in Common? What we will highlight about these two options is that both floor plans are small luxury travel trailers with 2 private bedrooms . One of the bedrooms is a bunk room, completely private, separated by solid doors, and located at the rear of the camper, opposite the private master bedroom at the front.

Both travel trailers feature a long slide-out that contains the booth dinette suitable for a large family and seats in front of the entertainment center.

In addition, both floor plans feature a centrally located fully equipped kitchen, plenty of storage compartments to keep your belongings organized, an outside kitchen, and a full bathroom adjacent to the bunkhouse.

What Are the Differences Between These 2 Small Bunkroom Travel Trailers?

While both are lightweight travel trailers of 6000 pounds dry weight , the Sundance Ultra-Lite 291QB is slightly shorter (only 31 feet long) than the Cruise Lite 273QBXL (just under 34 feet long). Although throughout the post, we have reviewed travel trailers with bunkhouses only 20 feet long or even less, these campers are short and light for the type of floor plan they offer and outstanding options for those looking for small luxury bunkhouse travel trailers .

small bunkhouse travel trailers with 2 bedrooms

Another difference between the two bunkhouse travel trailers is the layout of each bunk room. The Sundance Ultra-Lite 291QB features a bunkhouse with 2 bunk beds and a small dinette inside the bunk room . I personally consider this floor plan one of the best on the market. The dinette can be converted into an extra sleeping space or can be used for board games while enjoying the entertainment center inside this second bedroom.

One difference we can highlight between the two master bedrooms offered by these small bunkhouse travel trailers is that the Cruise Lite 273QBXL features a front king master bedroom instead of the queen master bedroom provided by the Sundance Ultra-Lite 291QB.

bunkhouse travel trailers with 2 bedrooms

Both trailers are worth a look. However, if you want to see more floor plan options with the best Bunk Room Travel Trailers, we recommend you follow the link to our newest post, where you can see: 13 Best Rear and Mid Bunk Room Travel Trailers for 2023.
