Columbus Area Travel Clinics
General travel vaccines include ones such as cholera , hepatitis A , yellow fever , typhoid and rabies , however, they are not all recommended for the same destination. For example, hepatitis A is a global disease, while Japanese encephalitis is more likely to affect people going to rural Asia and the western Pacific. Consult a Passport Health team member to understand which immunizations are right for you.
Be sure to get your yellow fever vaccination before traveling anywhere the virus is present. Yellow fever is spread by mosquitoes, and can be highly dangerous. Vaccination protects you and others in the region you are visiting.
Use a dedicated travel clinic specializing in yellow fever, like Passport Health. They can also guide you on other vaccines and medications needed for your journey. Passport Health clinics are authorized to administer the yellow fever vaccine and provide a yellow card as proof, which some countries require for entry.
Travel clinics also make it easy to get all the shots you need in one visit. Passport Health keeps yellow fever and all other key travel vaccines in-stock for your trip.
Although vaccine-preventable disease case levels have decreased significantly over the last 40 years, they haven’t completely disappeared. Routine vaccinations are still recommended for large portions of the population. Make sure you are protected before your next trip.
Everyone worries about the flu a couple months out of the year, but Passport Health plans for it year round. With offices nationwide, we work together with businesses to make sure we have the right vaccines for when you need them.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Travelers should review the health information contained on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for each country they plan to visit and discuss any concerns with their doctor or a travel medical professional.
International Travel Consultation, Immunizations and Vaccinations
Travelers should schedule a travel medical consultation with a health care professional well in advance of traveling abroad to obtain the necessary immunizations, vaccinations, and prophylactic medicines. It is best to schedule an appointment a minimum of three months in advance of your travel date as some immunizations require a series of appointments and many prophylactic medicines must be started prior to travel to be effective. A travel consultation should not be timed with potential pre-travel test documentation for COVID-19. If prescribed abroad, preventative medicines are not covered under the student supplemental travel insurance.
Student Appointments Travel consultations are available at the Wilce Student Health Center and cost $60. Students may schedule an appointment by calling 614-292-4321.
*As of January 1, 2022, Wilce Student Health Center has temporarily suspended travel consultation appointments. The clinics listed below for Yellow Fever vaccination provide full services for pre-travel consultation.
Faculty and Staff Appointments:
Travel and Immunization Center Rardin Family Medicine 2231 N. High St. Columbus, OH 43201 Phone: 614-293-2700, option 5
*Please note that as of January 1, 2022, the Travel and Immunization Center is closed until further notice . The clinics listed below for Yellow Fever vaccination provide full services for pre-travel consultation. Their services however are not covered under the Ohio State Health Plan.
COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Requirements
Countries may require individual travelers to demonstrate proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 and a pre-travel negative test result. Requirements vary between countries and rapid changes are frequently implemented. Travelers should refer to the U.S. Embassy COVID-19 Country Specific Information pages for current requirements.
Travel to Countries with Requirements or Recommendations for Yellow Fever Vaccine
Yellow fever virus is found in tropical and subtropical areas in Africa and South America . Yellow fever vaccination may be recommended or required for entry into certain countries.
Due to a global shortage of YF Vax, Ohio State travel clinics (including the Wilce Student Health Center and the Rardin Travel and Immunization Center) cannot currently provide the vaccine.
An alternate yellow fever vaccine, Stamaril, is available at two certified clinics in central Ohio, and each location provides complete travel consultations. Ohio State is currently not a certified site for Stamaril. Travelers should schedule an appointment 4 - 6 weeks prior to travel and are advised to inquire about potential discounts for group appointments and/or service and volunteer experiences.
